    Continuing on from the short ass thread we had last night. It is currently 461 OHM, January, and the past four months have been rather stable for the colony, trying to make sure it can support its new holdings in the form of the Goblin colony of Danara.

    Baron Kaufmann disappeared for two months after hunting for hippodiles, but was eventually found by search parties, along with 4 hippodile babies which have seemed to latch onto him as some sort of parental figure.

    We have also just sent off the Eversor back to europe this month, and will arrive swiftly. The gold prospecting is almost over on St.Loki's isle, as the miners report we'll either hit payday or absolutely nothing soon.

    current 'nations'

    tieflings are from the Supreme Empire of Dorova, which is basicly a huge empire with little colonial assets, but what assets it does have are strongly guarded.
    Think the Russian empire. Its one of the strongest nations in the entire world, with the largest army but lacks a real navy.

    Golbins are from the Most Serene Republic of Acra, a small but rich merchant republic with a fair amount of colonies in the south (which is like asia),
    but not many in the new world (west of europa). Shes a major player over seas and commands powerful navies and has well trained line infantry, but lacks in numbers.

    The kingdom of Narina is a combination of the Batavian Republic and any sort of germanic duchy. Its a significant player on the world stage and has
    significant colonial assets in the new world, but lacks holdings in the far south (asia)

    The fessians are related to the Varinians, and they come from many small kingdoms and principalities. They usually offer themselves up as mercenaries
    to alot of nations. No fessian nation has colonial assets. Fessians are purely human.

    While the Eversor continues on her way too Europa, work continues in the settlement. To expand our naval cabability, a second dockland was built in order for us to house more shipping, be it our own or foreign.

    In the settlement itself, a clinic/barber shop has FINALLY been built for our doctors, who up until this point, had been using their own homes as clinics, which aren't exactly professional for our learned men.

    Interesting news as well, this month. A scouting patrol found a small caravan under attack by Natives to the north. After rushing back to serenity, a rescue party was sent out to relieve the caravan consisting of the baron and fessian cavalry, which stopped the attack cold. We found out that the caravan was transporting Dorovan Royalty, Grand duchess Vera Feodorovna and what remained of her personal guard, and she asked to be given refuge in serenity, which we did not disagree too (results from last months random event roll)

    Dire news, the goblins have set up another colony. Albiet this colony has been set up on their side of the border, it its worrying none the less that they should set one up after we captured a previous one.

    Almost as a compliment though, Danara, now named 'normandy' has had its wooden walls upgraded with stone, so if an assault were to come we are now better prepared than we were before.

    Our scouts have trained up 5 more to join their ranks to replace the ones that we have lost over there years. Also, Grand duchess Vera Feodorovna has today requested permanent assylum from the Dorovan Empire.

    Grand duchess Vera Feodorovna Is a young member of the Dorovan royal family, being 43 years old (tieflings live to about 80 in this age, their royalty about 150). She is a well known supporter of tiefling rights in her empire, trying to bring her country out of the political dark age its in and more up to date with the more western nations. Expelled to the colonies to put a stop to this, she almost made the problem even worse by exploiting the emperors weak hold over his colonial assets. Her arrest was ordered in eiolkagrad By the emperor himself, although she was able to escape with some of her loyal guardsman from her dynasties personal guard.

    Winged hussars are a Ethnic Dorovan unit and cannot be recruited by any other nation than the Dorovan empire. In addition, you are only allowed 25 marines by the king to limit the power the colonies have.

    The Grand duchess Vera Feodorovna and her royal guard have been given asylum inside serenity, within the dukes fort where she currently spends most of her time, but occasionally visits the tiefling quarter.

    The Eversor has loaded up with the supplies and men while dropping off more durthweed and ale. The king is pleased with our progress and has donated to us another royal stallion.

    Finally, another clinic has been built, this time in normandy

    After scouting the Gobo mine on our territory, we found they were only giving up 1/3 of the stone they produced-not the 1/2 we asked for. We burned their feilds, rallied our troops, and distracted them with cannons. We send a hussar flank around back. Very few casualties. Some resistance in the mine for months, they barricaded in. We took it back.

    technically, yes. They broke an international treaty, refused to pay us our just deserves, and so in return they burnt the goblin fields, a fair trade. In return, they started attacking our hunters and scouts, and raided our western watchtower garrison, murdering all but 2 of the garrison before our reinforcements scared them off.

    The eversor is still on her way home with the colonists, and if everything goes as planned she'll be home by the start of next month. A group of 40 Tiefling Hussars came this way today and stopped by serenity to question the duke as to whether or not the Grand Duchess had come this way, and to which he said no. After a quick investigation in the tiefling district, they went on their way southward bound.

    Contruction has begun on a gunsmith in the western district of serenity, which when completed will be capable of producing 10 muskets a month. Along with this, irrigation was built in the Normandy fields, improving output.

    Just a warning, the Dorovan empire is VERY protective about its population. While they can't do anything to prevent settlers from coming to you, trying to get settlers from them could result in worsened relations.

    The eversor has returned with the new settlers and marines, who have now been intergrated into our population with many finding jobs straight away.

    The gun smith has been complete with our smiths being sent straight work, producing 10 muskets a month. As well as this, our jewelers have also found work by taking the little gold we get out of our mines and turning it into jewelery.

    20 of the veteren settlers have been sent to St.Loki Isle, to work the Gold mines along with the Goblin POWs from the previous conflict. we get an income of 1 gold unit per year.

    Most disturbing news, it seems that there is witchcraft about. The doctor and duke head down (the priest too busy praying to the holy mother for guidance) and lay await in some shrubbery. There they discover one of serenity's Fessian Doctors start a ritual using a Goblin child along with two other Varinian men. The doctor and Duke rush in to save the child before its thrown into the river, resulting in a sword fight killing the two men and the doctor diving into the river to save the child.

    Bad news today, native savages have struck our mining facility to the south. At approximately 5pm, the hour when most of our miners return from their work, they struck at us. The Marine in the encampment set up a signal fire to call for reinforcements and returned fire from the walls triyng to cover the miners who were fleeing or being cut down. We've lost around 20 of our 35 iron miners to this attack, at least 10 captured, as well as all our slaves, resulting in iron production coming to an almost complete stop.

    In better, less messy news, production has begun on a frigate for the colony so it has some form of defense. Work on the frigate should be done in around about 4 months or so, and will require a crew of 30.

    With durthweed being so popular back home, more crops have been raised to try an accomidate the demand, hopefully to bring us great wealth

    a Raiding party went out with the intention of rescuing the miners as well as killing as many orcs as possible. Due to the fact they were guarding normandy, the militia could not be spared. so just the marines and Fessians were brought to battle.

    Marching in plane site of the camp, the marines formed up a firing line while the fessians divided up onto each flank. The orcs ralleyed to battle and began to charge into the line with hachets and spears. The first volley must have hit at least 20 of their number, but only 10 went down, even then they continued the squirm. This caused the marines some worry as they quickly loaded another volley and let loose again. once more hitting many of the orcs but felling very few of them. In order the prevent the Orc charge from decimating the marines, the Baron charged forth with his fessians on horse back into the orcs.

    having more effect, charging right through them and onwards to the camp to try and free the prisoners, while 14 and the baron circled around for another charge. At this point the marines had fired one more volley and began to charge as well. Despite being ferocious in combat, their numbered had dwindled so many from the volleys and the charge that they were quickly dispatched.

    In the meantime, the work goes well on our frigate, which should be ready in around 3 more months.

    Work continues on our frigate which will be done in 2 months time, although the slight problem of no cannons has arisen.

    A deal has been made with the dothclyde tribe who will be providing us with several barrels of ember drink in exchange for 10 breasts plates now, 20 over 3 months as well as grain for 100 people. A slight problem has come from this though, as it seems that ember drink seems to cause some sort of 'high' in tieflings instead of the usual drunk in other races.

    Good and bad news

    Good news, we've discovered the berry used in ember drink! Our brewers are brewing up the first batch to see if they can get the recipe right, although there will only be enough for 20 people with on flaggon, as they are relying on the hunters to forage for them.

    The eversor has been sent back to europa and will arrive in three months with news of the colonies progress.

    Bad news, the tiefling nobility has been discovered. It seems that one of our own Varinans, most likely a higher ranking officer, has informed the tieflings of her being here. Currently amassed outside our farm lands is a force of 30 marines and 10 hussars demanding her release. There are 3 clear options.
    1. Release her back to the tieflings where she'll be arrested, causing unrest among our tieflings
    2. Fight them back as we out number them and hope they do not return.

    I do not have pictures of many tieflings on my PC, all i do have are male, so feel free to post your own. One would describe the Duchess as being 'exotic' due to her tiefling nature, standing at around 5'10. Her horns are only 4 inches long, which to put into perspective a military officers horns are 1 inch long while the emperors are 7 inches long. Her dynasty holds a small amount of power back in the Dorovan Empire, and while you will not control the dynasty, you will be able to draw upon some of its resources. As for looks, when shes all guissed up like all noblility is, shes about a 8. No make up, 7.

    Wedding bells today in Serenity as Duke alexander marries Grand duchess Vera Feodorovna, which has gotten mixed reception. The tiefling population is glad as can be that the Duke has Married the Duchess, as well a fair few nobility back in Varina, But some of the settlers are not pleased that he has not married someone of the holy mother faith. But this is not the first, nor the last time a Varinan nobleman will marry a teifling.

    News of this marriage has drawn 40 more settlers from the dorovan settlement as well as gotten the force outside the city to leave.

    Recently to provide a constantly standing colonial ran army, 20 more tieflings were raised too standing militia, resulting in a total of 50, creating the '1st colonial brigade' lead by tiefling captain Petrovski. The new recruits are to be stationed in the 4 new guard towers built along the mining camp road, 4 per tower.

    Also, trying with another berry, the brewers have come up with a cure for constipation, and also a new and unusual way for somebody to die.
