Hermes yards are to produce battleships for our Pandora blockade, and to fight Pentex when they inevitably betray us. Also when not busy to orbital bombard targets of opportunity on Chiron and Ares.

    Previous questions I had:
What level of virtual reality and/or artificial intelligence is currently available?
Do we know about GLaDOS and what she did?
In our contract with Pentex did we agree just to stop mining, and is there any way we can convince the Na'Vi to let us send scientists (under their supervision of course) to study the planet?
    Do we own any Unobtanium-Pandora?
Things to do in no particular order:
Acquire RDA's Avatar Project and R&D team
Begin AI research (see if Pandorum could drastically increase performance?)
See if there's any ground to cover with Matter Emancipation Grid (Perhaps use it to guard future colonies?)
See if petitioning Pandora to be renamed Ewah will put us into a better standing with Sully (so we can do glorious research)
Start building modular ships to be sent out of the UN's jurisdiction, to be upgraded into warships
Find out as much about Pentex as possible

We have battleships, just not a lot of them. And our construction capabilities are limited with the UN restrictions.

Memory Alteration: This research allows the surgical alteration of the brain in such a fashion that memories can be added, removed and changed.
Interstellar Gene Splicing: It doesn't matter how different the species are. By using this technology, you can created a scientific hybrid of practically any two organisms. Of course, there are some limits - no plant-creature hybrids and they have to be based on the same element - carbon-based lifeforms are compatible for this, for example.
Post-Conception Genetic Alteration: Essentially, even after birth, people can be altered into whatever they want to be and slowly grow into whatever they want to be. Men can be scientifically turned into women, the natural hair colour can be changed and far more radical things can be done.

Observatories reveal a gradual change in the behaviour of the Na'vi - they seem to be becoming even more violent and bestial. Such is the influence that humanity - that RDA has had on them.

I detect bullshit. But, I think they're just doing it in order to make RDA look bad, not necessarily to raise an army of rabid Na'vi abominations to destroy the Human race. Right?

You do not uncover anything about anything they might be doing to Pandora. There's nothing about it, as far as the Lone Gunmen can see.
... However, they have found something else.

There's this strange, Umbra-based religion. Everything in the Umbra is based off of three "spirits". The Wyld, the spirit of Creation. The Weaver, the spirit of Structure. The Wyrm, the spirit of Destruction. In their logs, Pentex identify themselves as essentially a cult that serves this spiritual being of destruction and corruption. There was apparently an Earth-based species referred to as the "Garou" that worshipped the Earth as "Gaia", the union of all of the three spirits. Apparently, they fought desperately against Pentex, the servants of the Wyrm and were made all but extinct.

An important trait of Garou biology was their connection to the Umbra, and their ability to go in it and without it. Since they culled the species, Pentex has made significant genetic alterations with the aid of the Tyrell Corporation, to where the Garou have become little more than nervous systems that require life support to survive.

They are the core of all Umbral technology.

The Lone Gunmen were sloppy this time. They did a quick brute force hack and you had to spend a bit to make it unknown who did it.

Still, you found out one thing.

They're researching a sort of shielding device for space combat that they have codenamed the "Disco". Essentially, thousands of drones armed with several high-powered lasers are attached to the hull with a strong magnetic field. When combat is initiated, the magnetic field weakens, leaving them hovering within short range of the vessel, remaining close to it purely due to the magnetic field. They continuously fire their lasers for half an hour, when they are forced to recharge for ten minutes back on the hull. Anything caught in the invisible laser-show is disintegrated by the sheer power. Essentially, this is a point defense that renders the ship using the Disco system practically invulnerable to mass drivers and missiles. Only energy weapons are effective.

    Year 2159:
Yet again, Pentex shows off the absolutely awful condition of Pandora. It's much worse this time. The cancer's definitely visible, trees are visibly dying and rotting, many of the animals are completely rabid, mad and diseased and all recent Na'vi births are still-born. Judging from the observations, any tribal culture has ceased to exist. They've become little more than animalistic hunters with sadistic hatred for one another.
The disgusted general public's pushes to remove RDA's monopoly finally suceeds.
You have 7% of RDA's shares.
RDA share price has dropped to $117b per-cent.
You have three Pandorium engines available on Earth.
You have seven available construction yards on Earth.
The New People on Ares have won their long wars with the other neighbouring nations. They have become the sole rulers of their continent, with your aid, and will soon expand across the rest of the planet. Ares also recieves 300 new colonists.
Hermes has seven new factories constructed.

    Balance: $78b
    Income: $614b

    Right, gentlemen.

Organize what to do with your factories, and who to hack, if anyone. Then next year.

Looking at the Portal 2 Demo... It seems that Aperture Science already has access to miniaturized Artificial Intelligences that appear to be sentient. Also, though impractical, if we were able to board an enemy ship, and form two portals, one on the inside, the other outside in the void of space, it seems like could simulate an airlock breach, only instantly neutralized.
Also, Propulsion/Repulsion gel started out as pudding substitutes, but seem to violate or at least bend the laws of motion... We need to be paying our Aperture guys a lot more than we are.

We need to call them on this bullshit, find a way to gather evidence, use portal guns to fuck up their probes again, and then send another portal to the surface of Pandora to release a stealthy crawler to gather intel.

Building portals that large can be problematic, and the energy required to transport such a mass would be high as well.

Besides that, portals are formed between portal... generators, and these would probably be destroyed when scraping up against the planet, or just when they hit it. It would be easier to just accelerate an object into the world.

Problem with that is that the portal would be destroyed.

Need more info before we can go public, but we should work on this. Consider hacking/infiltrating Tyrell to find more.

Yeah, this as well, I don't know what to get them, maybe spend 1 billion on getting them all better computers, lifetimes supply of mountain dew, whatever it takes. This bioweapon is exactly what we're looking for.

Also, if we need more income, we can always just film the Aperture Science testing facilities as a game show.

The Nostromo goes missing in 2122, is declared missing in 2123. . . Shit's gotten pretty crazy.

If you want the ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES pdf, just say so.

Sorry, sorry! I'm just a huge fan of them, and wanted to ask. Er- so. . . I take it it exists, then? The stuff? Them? Er, Ripley hasn't been discovered yet, so nothing involving them has happened yet. . . Sorry. Didn't mean to ruin your quest, I really like it. . .

Tell the UN (discreetly) about Pentex's... less attractive side. Transmit the evidence. Have the Lone Gunmen make sure no one else has any idea we're doing that.
    >> Anonymous 06/16/10(Wed)22:30 No.10545022
No, then let them retake it.

    Every year.

It's like Prometheus, but with trillions of dollars instead of organs. And space vikings instead of birds.

Give immortality to all important people if they want it. Ask the UN to give us a chance to go in and see what, if anything, we can save from Pandora before Pentex Bombs the shit out of it. Buy more Pandorium Engines and continue to increase our shares of RDA stock. We'll leave as little money as possible for STFU.
    >> Plasma !UHUuLXLjhk 06/16/10(Wed)22:32 No.10545046
No problem. I admire you for being intelligent enough to track down when it all happens in the time line.

However, posting it here kind of ruins any surprise that I might have planned as a DM.

It's basically Megacorp Quest's version of saying "Dumbledore Dies".
    >> Anonymous 06/16/10(Wed)22:32 No.10545054
Guys, Pentex is much more important than telling STFU to... STFU really. If Pentex wins, they get all the Pandorum they want, and everyone will hail them as the heroes. ...This cannot stand.
    >> Anonymous 06/16/10(Wed)22:32 No.10545066
    >Pentex requests UN permission to euthanize Pandora.
This is probably going to be our last chance to get any intel on what Pentex is doing there. If we want to have anything to implement against them, we're going to have to move now.

I'm still proposing the crawler intel gather sent by under cover of probe dickery, or as I like to call it OPERATION NA'VI FREEDOM. Even though they're all probably dead by now.

Either way, if we want anything about their ecosystem, or Pentex from Pandora now is our last chance.

Actually, let's end this here tonight, folks.

It's been awesome playing with you all, glad it was a bit faster this time, hopefully even faster next time!

    What did you all think?

Thanks! So, uhm. . . Do we have anything in that area? Er. . . I don't know if I've ever seen "A", or 426 ever mentioned in the threads, or Z2, or. . . Yeah, I can't see it on a map, so I didn't know if we had a map of the area or a probe out there. . . Er. . . I mean. . .

I'd like to expand in that area. Head out, try and beat them there in the first place, or maybe even just put probes there, or get rights to mine the spot, or. . . something. Yeah. 'cause I'm a fan of Cameron's work, and that series is awesome. So, yeah. . . Gonna shut up now and let you respond to me. . .
    >> Raptor Anonymous 06/16/10(Wed)22:35 No.10545119
We need to interfere with anything Pentex does regarding Pandora. cut it into ribbons, blow it up. Everything.

We may want to publicize it as "we need to rehabilitate the world. Not destroy it. You no longer have any claim over it."

Or not publicize it at all, and move in a pirate like manner.
    >> Anonymous 06/16/10(Wed)22:35 No.10545121

But oh well, we can get onto that next week.

Er, plasma. . . If you'd like to have transcripts of canon (I mean, Cameron approved of it) Weyland-Yutani records of their megacorp bastardry, of some of their own stuff, ask me. I'll send you a link for the .pdf. Go to the last chapter in the pdf, and it's all there. Also: they have their own private army force. Sort of. They kind of technically control the colonial marines. Sort of like RDA having the "Marines", and ex-marines, and PMC's. . . So yeah. Ahem. . . I can be helpful!

For the archives, I'd just like to state that we should weaponize portal edges. Shoot a small one at a ship, watch as explosive decompression works.
