Archives, for the most part- http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Bloodquest

The mist around you is a crisp white fog, thick smokelike curls obscuring your sight. You can feel the sharp pinch of uneven stones under your bare feet.
"This is how you've always seen the world around you," the fog whispers, a wiry condescension that tickles down your spine.
"Hello?" you call out uncertainly, trying to swipe the fog away. There is a heavy weight on one arm, and you move awkwardly.
The fog draws away, swiftly, like a movie played in reverse, billowing in on itself and revealing the stark promontory on which you balance.
The rock is maybe eight inches wide, with a vista of piercing, smashing rock below you, easily a fatal fall.
"This is the world as it is," the voice says next to you, and you turn to see Subject 13, her arm chained to yours, sharing the narrow cliff with you. Her flesh is fragmented and seared, and she doesn't seem to be the source of the voice, which still permeates the air around you. "Fatally dangerous, oceanic in its scope. It's beautiful."

"Helen!" you hear Jacob shout behind you. Turning, you see him standing back, on a wider, safer cliff edge. Clara and Brody are there as well, looking concerned. Behind them, like an apparition, Maksim Wade comes into view, followed by a bookish-looking man and red-haired woman you've never seen before.
"Helen, baby," the woman says. "It's okay, come on now."
"It's not okay, Helen," the voice says. "You know it isn't."
    >> StonerDM !em3oEn8LAg 06/02/10(Wed)20:46 No.10233967
You peer again over the sheer edge. You seem suspended on a thread of rock, with the safety of your friends at one end, and the unfathomable eternal fog at the other. Beside you, 13 seems to have taken interest, plodding uncertainly towards Walters and the others. You drag back, the chain that binds you catching your wrist painfully.
"Come now, the solution is so -obvious-." the voice says, chuckling in the wicked breeze. "How desperately you cling to your pathetic shell."
You look once more down at the bone-shattering rocks, then at the horror chained to your wrist.
    "Helen!" Walters shouts. "You need-"
You don't let him finish. With decisive action, you wrap your arms around 13 and plunge over the edge, your blood covering you both. You feel yourself falling, falling...and a touch, light, on your shoulder.

"Helen," Walters says. "You need to wake up."
You open your eyes, squinting against the slivers of morning puncturing Jacob's blinds. He's standing at the side of the bed; oh my, you're in his bed. At least his sheets are comfortable. Oh my, you can feel the sheets against your bare skin.

    >Oh my.

"Oh come on now, are you telling me that you didn't enjoy whatever happened last night, Garfield?" you say after Walters leaves, presumably to cook breakfast.
Garfield remains staunchly silent for a few seconds.
"I tried my best to ignore whatever it was you were doing. Mating...is a strange concept."

Ramiel is stoically munching on a piece of toast when you enter the living room, while Walters fries himself an egg.
"I'm, uh...out of meat," he says, "but I got the paper before you woke up." he gestures to the newspaper on the kitchen counter.

"SIN CITY IN SHAMBLES" the headline reads. According to the article, Subject 13 dug a new canyon in a perfectly straight line from San Francisco to Las Vegas, where it is now stymieing all attempts at removal.

"EUROPEAN CRISIS AVERTED" another headline proclaims. It seems that, aware of the extenuating nature of Germany/Central Europe's actions, the rest of Europe has agreed to resume the status quo, with no penalties imposed. "It was a vengeful attitude that precipitated World War 2," one governmental authority is quoted as saying. "Having narrowly avoided World War 3, we see no reason to provoke World War 4 just yet."

Setting the paper aside, you plant a small kiss on Jacob as he cooks, still somewhat unsure of yourself. He smiles.
"Don't distract me," he says, the smile widening despite his efforts.
"Did you sleep well?" you ask.
"...in a manner of speaking," he says with a wink.

" 'Did you sleep well?' " Garfield says in a falsetto. "*mwah mwah mwah*" he continues, in an imitation of kissing noises that is more frightening than accurate.

"What is our plan?" Ramiel says, interrupting the tender scene. "Your allies are in Europe, are they not? How are we to reach them?"

Your wings burst from the holes you had the forethought to make in your coat as your armor coats your body. You let out what you hope is a threatening roar, sweeping out with a bloodwhip. Six of the agenst are swept to their feet, while two others are slammed against one of the vans, jostled into unconsciousness. You raise your arm as you are peppered with gunfire from two of the prone agents. It's good to know THAT still stings like a bitch.
"Ramiel, go for the planes!" you shout, slapping two of the agents' heads together as gently as you can manage with pseudopods made of psychic blood.

I thought our armor got an upgrade? We were already fairly immune to bullets before it.

If bullets still hirt, can we have our blood armor not be completely skintight? It can't indent much because the bullets don't break the skin, so having it hover a bit off of our direct flesh will keep those nasty bruises from popping up.

BRACE FOR LANDING. FOUND US A NICE PRIVATE AIRFIELD; SHOULDN'T BE TOO MUCH TO DEAL WITH.

The planes do indeed make a swift landing on the packed-dirt runway. No one seems to be present at the airfield, which is...fortunate.
While Brody and Creed search for fuel for the planes, you approach the others.
"So, guys, uh...welcome to the team," you say.
Andre nods. Charlotte extends a hand for you to shake.

No harm, no foul. There was no harm right?

Charlotte, a couple quick questions while we are on the ground. One: Do you have any kind of control over your powers? Two: How were you captured in the first place? The Slander Man implied that some trick was used and I would like to avoid that particular hangup in the future.

On a more general note, did the Inheritor tell either of you any vital information about 13 or Arkham? Supposedly he had the power to take down 13 himself, but Arkham saw that lead... ended. I have some possible information on an ancient inhuman library in space that could reveal ways to defeat them both but it would obviously require a spaceship. All other options are fairly exhausted, even the beings I've talked with on other planes of existence seem to be overmatched.

Oh...thought we were all on the same plane.

We totally need to get just a microphone that broadcasts exactly what we say, right there, at no volume change. And clip it to us. That way Maksim can just listen in to us.

"It's nice to meet you. Clara couldn't exactly tell me...but what is it you do, Charlotte? And don't worry about it, Andre. It's no trouble....also, let's see if we can't grab Charles a bunch of really, really baggy, really thick clothing or something sometime soon...he can stuff all of his bees into that, because I don't think he enjoys being in the crate very much, and I don't want to walk around pretending to be an exotic bee collector all the time."

Text: "Have any ideas on where to head now?"

"We should restock, grab a bite, and rest while we're here. We don't know when we'll get another chance."

Also, once it's night, call Walters.

"Can we get him some clothes or something? He can't be happy in there?" you say, pointing to the crate.
"Mais oui, Mssr Andrenid!" Charlotte says, getting back onto the plane. You hear metal clamps hitting the floor, followed by a growing hum of noise.
The swarm of bees that exits the plane is impressively large, a coordinated swarm of hornets, wasps and bumblebees that probably couldn't fit in a set of clothes even if they were literally crawling on one another. It gradually coalesces into a 15-foot, generally humanoid form, the bees flitting about in a loose formation.
"He can't talk," Andre says, passing a hand slowly through the swarm. "But he can hear well enough, better than we can actually. I'm sure he'd thank you for thinking of him."

"How far away can you control your... body? Could you be a scout across an entire city, for instance?"
The swarm begins spreading out, filling the air around you and the others. The bee-density gradually decreases, until you can see that the swarm covers most of the open space of the airstrip. Then they gradually coalesce back together into the giant form. With surprising coordination, the right "arm" reaches up to tap at the side of the "head"

"He means he can't hear as well when he's like that," Andre says.
You nod. "Still a useful skill..."

Pulling out your cell phone, you dial Walters' new number. He doesn't answer. You try again, and he picks up after about five rings.

    ...Then let Wade inhabit it.

    Ohmai.

Yeah, Clara/Wade could be kind of awesome. Something tells me those two are going to have some kind of a romance after this is all over. ANYWAY!

Yeah, let's get ready, rest if we need to, and get this show on the road. We've got a pair of final battles to end.

We missing any subjects that are potentially still alive?

We want to get everyone. Wait. Lightning man. We could use Lightning Man.

The way I'm seeing it, Mr Bees, Four Arms, Clara, and POSSIBLY Brody are all gonna be useless against 13, unless she spawns adds.

Pyromancer, Ramiel, Ourselves, Rhino, possibly Brody, Lady Luck, Mr Lightning (If possible) Airstrike from Wade could all be useful. In the end, I'm thinking it'll just be us Ramiel+Us VS 13.

It will be a while before a chopper can make it from Louisville to Vegas (or Canada). We can go hunting, there should be plenty of space to look for some wildlife around here.

Also ask Clara about her damaged arm and combat capabilities. See if SKYNET can find a way to fix her up after he is done with the airlift.

Bullets can harm 13's shell, possibly distracting her.

And who knows what a bullet will do to a hedron? Bullets from a magic gun are just as likely as anything else to hurt them.

Well, we need to destroy the entire shell. Sniper bullets won't do much there.

She can be a tactical relay or something from the back and support with sniper fire. I don't want her getting Outer Goded if we can help it.

It's the containment things not the Hedrons that trap it. The Hedrons just attract them.

Maybe if we stuck a hedron on a plane and had SKYNET fly it out over the ocean... then nuclear weapons wouldn't be a problem.

If we have a whole week left and we finish early, does that mean the rest of the time can be spent on fapfiction?

Also, your style is very rewarding considering this is a quest thread. You do a good job of incorporating lots of peoples ideas into one post. Glad you took my advice from an earlier thread about composing what you want to post in a Word doc and posting it after refreshing to check for new ideas.
