My DM killed off my familiar because I forgot to FEED IT.
Fucking hyperrealists. he handles a schedule of when we have to eat/sleep/piss/defecate. Is this dude for real or is he just trollin?

I can understand different levels of trying to handle some realism.
    But that is just stupid.

    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)19:18 No.10098667
Have your character just stop eating. Like, whenever food comes up, openly declare your character doesn't eat. Or drink.

Alternatively, go into ludicrous detail. Detail taking shits in the woods. How you grope and fuck barmaids. The way you smell after a long time on the road. Agonisingly detailed descriptions; if he wants realism, give him fucking realism.

Really, thing's just don't die from not being fed, I'd imagine to make it fair your DM would point out that your familiar is really fatigued.

That's... that's not hyperrealist. A hungry animal doesn't just sit around looking normal then OH I M DED.

A hyperrealist DM would make your familiar irritate the shit out of you till it got fed, or have it go hunting/foraging.

Your DM is either a troll or a retard. Can't be sure.

    Most likely a retard.

I had a similiar experience with a DM, except it was on a PC. We were shipwrecked, and floating along on flotsam, one PC down at negatives.

We treated his wounds, but then one of the days the DMs said he was dead. We asked why, and the DM told us we had forgot to give him water. We asked what, and he told us we never specifically mentioned that we gave him water.

...Can't familiars communicate with their master?

Why the fuck did the familiar just up and die without, I dunno, asking for food? If it can't talk, it's still way more intelligent than a normal animal, being a familiar. It should have bugged him or something.
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)19:26 No.10098830
Don't you have a telepathic link with a familiar? Once that goes both ways? Isn't that the whole point of a familiar?
    >> Anonymous 05/27/10(Thu)19:27 No.10098850
This isn't hyperrealism. What's happened is for whatever reason, the DM doesn't like a player or character and uses a situation as an excuse to kill them.

    Think of it like this..

The DM hates the character/player but unwilling to confront him with it. So he hurts the character/player in a way that is both arbitrary (Little rational) but in a way that upsets them (DM knows it is bullshit).

The idea is to make that person quit the game because your DM is a pussy.

So it's neither Hyperrealist or retarded. He's just a pussy

I remember once, during a tense situation where my party was crossing a rope bridge in a dense jungle. We were getting hunted by angry man-eating baboons at the time.

Suddenly he tells me that because of that huge meal I ate, as well as the mushrooms from earlier, my character now has to shit megabad and will literally deposit bricks soon.

All Wizards have an empathic link with their Familiar at level 1, and can out-and-out communicate with it telepathically as though speaking past level 10 or so I think.
Also, Familiars don't need to eat. They have a magical relationship with you that sustains them; to all intents and purposes, you ARE them, which is why you are able to cast spells through them and why you take damage as though you'd taken a horrible shock when they die.

    1) Real Life: Start a fight. Try to get them to throw the first punch, flip the table, throw things. Do this at their house. Tear their books and notes.

    2) Online: DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO RUIN THEIR CAMPAIGN. Plot with other players that hate this GM. Find their emails, facebooks, identities, Chat ID's, etc and see if you can't use them to fuck with this person.

Also, it's not worth it. I once bashed my DM in the negative (he lost consciousness) with the dungeon masters guide, straight in the face. He fell back and hit the wall with his head.

Suddenly, everyone was on their feet (which DIDNT happen as the DM pushed me arround/insulted me). But I still was the first one to call an ambulance.

Was nothing that serious though. But on of my bro made "WHOS DUNGEON MASTER NOW" an annoying catchphrase-reminder for me to keep my temper.

OP's DM sucks at DMing. If I were him (OP) I'd just stop playing, it's clearly not much fun to play in his game.

When I run games, I run under the assumption that It's my job to make sure everybody in the party is having a good time; and that if I suck at my job, they will leave.

I actually liked 3.0's handling of the paladin mounts better then 3.5. But I think the real issue is that the mechanics are simply emulating what the players do any damn way- ignore familiars/warhorses/cohorts exist until the exact moment they're needed.

So, we were playing a german role-playing game called "DSA", which translates to "The black eye". The playing group was made of people I knew, it was 1 bro tier friend, his little brother and 1 guy I didn't really know.

The DM attended school with me, this is how I got into all of this. I was reading an RPG-book in school, again, and he was like "Oh, DSA? I thought about starting a group, interested?". Of course, I was. Little did I know what was to come.
Well, first off, I knew that guy was a little of a racist. He used to make WW2 jew jokes all the time, and admittitly, there is nothing wrong with a joke here and then, as long as everyone gets one on their cost. He also mistreated his gf, which was a friend of mine, but I was k with that, because as long as the girl would stay with him, it was her fault. No bad feelings.

Well, first time playing, in his house... well, his parents house. Group rally! His brother plays a warrior from a knight academy, my bro tier friend plays a female elf ranger, the one guy plays... I think it was a pirate, but I'm not so sure anymore. Anyway, I decide that even as muc h as I'd like to play something that kicks ass, this group has enough of those. So I say I play a (medival) doctor/medic. One from the southern people.

"What, you want to play a nigger?"

    "I inhale."
"Uh. Okay. Um... dancing along its crumbling walls. Although its impossible to make out details in the flickering light, the walls--"
    "I exhale."

Yes. DSA has a preset setting which is binding, and a set of very strict rules. It also has an amazing amount of background fluff and optional rules. All in all, it is a great system, and you know what you're getting into.

    Well, not in this case:

"No. I'm playing a medic from the southern people. They have a darker skin, but I took a -feat- that allows me to look totally unrecognizable, since I prefer to be an unseen helper."

"Alright. Just letting you know there are SOME racists out there?"

"Oh, I read the setting. Racism is not that big an issue anywhere, and absolutly none where our campain is gonna start. Right?"

"Yeah, sure! It's all like it's in the books!"

Well, I HAD a bad feeling about this.

"Playing that... now I'm sure you're gay!"

    "Well yeah, gay but happy"

It was no big deal. He made these jokes a lot, and I never took those to heart. I mean, whats the big deal? Someone calls me gay, I laugh it off, noone gets hurt, everyone profits. It's common as a guy with long hair.
I'm not shitting you with his next statement. It seems unbelievable to me now that I write it, but this is really what he said.

    So we start playing.
"You all sit together in the tavern."
I felt like... ok, I know this works for the classic D&D group, but in this case I was going to be a little bitchy about this.

"A warrior with a 2-h sword, a medic from the southern people, an ELF and a pirate just happened to meet at a random table in a town where none of us actually has buisness?"

"Well, you all know each other for a long time now and use to travel together. You thought going north would be a good idea."

Eh. Ok. Whatever. Take a deep breath. Take those 3 pages of character story you wrote, and just hit delete. It's ok. Nothing of value will be lost.

We all order drinks. The pirate makes friends with some mercenaries from the next table. One of them looks taller and more muscular then the others, and drinks the strongest drink they have like water. The pirate wants to earn some points with him and makes for the bartender, only to see him (behind the counter, of course) spit in my drink.

Well, the pirate returns and grins at me as the bartender brings us the drinks, and my character, of course, drinks his.

It was supposed to be a joke for other players to enjoy. That is, until the bartender turned arround.

Obviously, I didn't make it. The bartender throws something that hits me with damage equal to a battleaxe. Resulting in a wound. That is some serious buisness. In this system, it's not the damage you fear most, but wounds. They kill you, one way or the other. Immense penalties on everything, and if untreated, you will die from them.

"Ouch. That bartender must've been a half an orc to throw it with that much force. I will wait for the group outside while tending to my wound, I'm an expert at treating combat injuries, so this will be easy. 70% of my points went in there"

"Sorry to tell you, but how are you going to look after a wound at the back of your head?"

"What, he hit the head? Nice that you tell me. But I bought a little mirror just in case things like this would happen. Also, the rules state that I can tend myself with a (small penalty) per wound."

"Well, I'm the DM and I don't see how you could treat that wound."

"Alright, fine. I'll try to find a doctor in this town."

"You do, but he charges (HORRIBLE OVERPRIZED)."

"What? I can't pay that much! I'm gonna die from this if he doesn't help me! I try to appeal to his mercy, and say the twelve gods surely wouldn't want him to leave a stranger bleeding to death at his doorstep."
"He yells at you for mentioning the gods, as the southern people do not worship the twelve. He throws a scalpel at you, you can't dodge since you're obviously running away, and hits you for 3 damage. He shouts you shall come back when you have the money."

The party, in the meantime, tries to talk to the bartender about what just has happened, but he gets angry and calls them bad names for even travelling with me.

I am a very patient man...

After adding a scalpel to my inventory, which are rare and immensly high-priced tools...

"How shall I get so much money? I don't even have half of what he wants."

"Well, you could sell your body to him? Looks like it wouldn't be the first time?"

Ok, another joke. Fine. I wait outside the pub for my party, and ask them to lend me money. They do. I get treated, but just enough that I won't die.

We then get some sort of "quest" from a travelling priest. The Niveses, people from the far north, are having trouble with their animals. Most of their tribes are ill due to a disease and hence can't take care of them, let alone guide them to the marketplace where they're supposed to get traded for survival equipment and the like.

Heroes as we are, we help out.

But for some reason, someone doesn't want us to help these people. Because... well... we meet the people and agree to help them, beginning a long journey with a lot of animals.

And then, one night, as everyone sits by the fire...

    DMPC #1 and #2 appear...

You might recognize him. That taller-then-the-rest mercenary that shared a considerable amount of characteristics with the DM?
He comes straight at us. Engaging (DMs little brother) in an epic, cinematic fight, no dice rolls or weapons involved. At least that is how he describes it. Yeah, he said "epic" out loud as I asked what they were doing.

Of course, we are on our feet and want to help him. Thats when #2 makes his entrance.

An Elf. FLYING above us, previously invisible. With a bow. He shoots in front of my foot. At this point I should, AGAIN point out that elves are incredably rare, that they rarely have ANY buisness with humans, and that there IS NO MENTION OF AN ELVEN MERCENARY IN ANY OF THE BOOKS. And again, for a reason. But this one, indeed, is an elven mercenary, and he teamed up with "IM ME IN GOOD".

I test my courage (just for myself), succeed, and grab for my light crossbow, while the rest of the party sits and watches the battle, since the elf apparantly just doesn't want anyone else to be involved. Yeah, he said that. At night. From 100 feet above. While 2 people were beating the shit out of each other.
    "Don't interfere".

Well, remember me going for my crossbow? The DM rolls some dice behind his screen, and then tells me that I get (BUTTLOAD OF DAMAGE) on my right hand, and I tell him that that is enough to cause 2 wounds. He says I lost my pointer- and midfinger as an arrowed pierced precicly through them. What he is implying is that my career as a doctor is over. Of course, I drob my weapon and fall to the ground, trying to stop the bleeding.

The battle from #1 and DMs little brother ends draw, of course. #1, who just happened to have the same attitude as our beloved DM, pulls of a few lines, and leaves.

You think an encounter like that is bad, right?

They came back the next night.

    And the night after that.

Basically carries his own beliefs into the world and is more interested in winning real life favours than anything else. I imagine OP has a life and friends, and was going along because its like watching a fire from across the block.

Every night, the flying elf prevents us from interfering (he always hits, I tried out and almost lost my foot), and the mercenary JUMPS over ANY previously planted traps and engages the warrior in a fist fight.
And then one night, they don't come. There is something else coming.

OP, I believe there is a course of action that will make the DM dislike the game as much as you do right now. You must become as bad as he is, questioning every move and thing he does. Ask him to provide background for everything. My other Doppelgangers tell me that this could also be more effective if one allows some roles for more mundane actions and subjects, human needs like eating, drinking, and the like would help.

We all duck for cover. Remember - it is night. It is windy. It's MOTHERFUCKING DARK, and all they see are the remains of our camping fire. I throw myself behind a tree.

There is actually a feat that allows an archer to shoot arround corners if there is wind for that. It is also a fact that in that entire setting, only a dozen people have it. Well, we had 15 of those. 3 of them hit my character. In dark night. As he was ducking for cover.
City guards from a small town. With longbows.

"Why are they just firing on us? What is their buisness with us in the first place?"

"Well, apparantly someone send them after you. Perhaps because you didn't pay your drink and stole a scalpel?"

Ouch. Yeah, darn straight that crazy doc had enough money to bribe the ENTIRE CITY after what I had to pay him. So 15 MASTERFUL archers, who just happen to be in that same city guard, equipped with longbows, are not THAT much of a big deal.

"Well, that is 12, 15 and another 12 damage, in the chest."

"Well, at least they hit my armored zone. I can subst-"

"No, you don't get armor against those. Unless you're wearing plate above chain above leather?"

"Of course I don't! I'm a medic! Just what the hell are they shooting with?"

"Oh, these special arrows from the arsenal."

"The armor-breaking ones that are used to take out heavy cavilary?"

"No, the ones with the extra-blades so you can't pull them out without doing another wound."

Or the DM specifically volounteered to DM in this case, and invited Assassin in order to create a scenario where he could fuck with him.

The entire point of this fiasco is that the DM planned from the beginning to fuck with him as much as possible and the player just got apathetic instead of mad

Ok. This is bullshit, and I knew it, for 2 reasons. First. These arrows cost a fortune. They cost so god-darn much that there was only 1 elite group in a giant army in history that used these.

And the other reason? These things are illegal. I'm not shitting you. The entire mid to north of the continent BANNED these arrows.

And here we are. In the north. Beeing fired at by 15 masterful archers, who use illegal ammunition. Who happened to be city guards.

"I call bullshit on this. There is no way city guards would have access to something that is even forbidden to use in WAR."

"Well, I say they have these. What is your problem? Judging from your gfs face, taking things in the ass is nothing new for you?"

Aller and Beer Woods (grid reference ST404305) is a 56.9 hectares (141 acres) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest. off the A372 Othery to Langport road near Aller in Somerset. It was notified in 1952.

This Somerset Wildlife Trust reserve, which is about 3.5 kilometres (2 mi) north-west of Langport and 11 kilometres (7 mi) south-east of Bridgwater, consists of large blocks of semi-natural ancient woodland along the west-facing slope of Aller Hill, overlooking King's Sedgemoor. The reserve is about 40 ha (99 acres) and the underlying geology of most of it is Lias limestone. Prior to the twentieth century it appears to have been managed for centuries as traditional coppice woodland.[1]

This. Partly because being angry at games is something we can all share. For a lot of people, instead of being happy someone had an awesome game, they get upset they aren't having one.

We're all mad for this guy. We're rarely all happy for the guy having an awesome game. Infact, we're likely to tell him to stop bragging or showing off.

For some odd reason, a lot of people see anger as more credible then happiness.

Aller and Beer Woods are outstanding examples of ancient, escarpment woodland managed in a traditional coppice-with-standards system. The woodland is a variant of the Calcareous Ash/Wych Elm stand-type, with Pedunculate Oak (Quercus robur), and Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) the dominant canopy trees throughout, and with scattered concentrations of Wych Elm (Ulmus glabra). Ancient woodland indicators include Small-leaved Lime (Tilia cordata), and Wild Service Tree (Sorbus torminalis), both of which are locally common. Plants of particular interest include Bird's Nest Orchid (Neottia nidus-avis), Greater Butterfly Orchid (Platanthera chlorantha) and the very rare Red Data Book species Purple Gromwell (Buglossoides purpurocaerulea).[2]

Nearby is the Aller Hill SSSI.

Aller Hill (grid reference ST408291) is a 18.4 hectare (45.4 acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest near Aller in Somerset, notified in 1988.

The site contains three species of plant which are nationally rare and a further three which are of restricted distribution in Somerset. The central area contains a sward dominated by Sheep's Fescue (Festuca ovina) in combination with Yellow Oat-grass (Trisetum flavescens) and Quaking-grass (Briza media). Salad Burnet (Sanguisorba minor) forms a major component of the sward with Rough Marsh-mallow (Althaea hirsuta) and Nit-grass (Gastridium ventricosum), two nationally rare species, also present. [1]

Aller and Beer Woods on the slopes of the hill are also dissignated as a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Asham Wood (grid reference ST705460) is a 140.6-hectare (347-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest near Downhead in the Mendip Hills, Somerset, notified in 1963.

Asham Wood is the largest and most diverse of the ancient semi-natural woods in the Mendips. It has been the subject of controversy and attempts to protect the environment from increased quarrying activity in the area.

The wood occupies 2 deep valleys and the intervening plateau. Most of the underlying rocks are calcareous Carboniferous Limestone and Shales, but Devonian Portishead Beds outcrop along the northern valley. There are a range of unusual flora and fauna.[1]

At Asham Wood near Frome coppicing and 50 dormouse boxes have been introduced in order to encourage nesting. The boxes are monitored and dormice numbers are recorded.[2]

This is a nationally important botanical site, for both vascular and non-vascular plants, situated on the southern escarpment of the Mendip Hills. It also contains a roosting site for two nationally rare species of bat and a wide range of butterfly species. The very thin soils here support populations of one nationally rare species, Cheddar bedstraw (Galium fleurotii) and four nationally scarce species, pale St John's wort (Hypericum montanum), sea storksbill (Erodium maritimum), dwarf mouse-ear (Cerastium pumilum) and spring cinquefoil (Potentilla tabernaemontani). There is a roosting site for greater horseshoe bat Rhinolophus ferrumequinum and lesser horseshoe bat R. hipposideros, both of which are nationally rare. Dormice (Muscardinus avellanarius) are found in the woodland. Twenty-five species of butterfly have been recorded and these include: Brown Argus (Aricia agestis), Green Hairstreak (Callophrys rubi), Dark Green Fritillary (Argynnis aglaja) and Marbled White (Melanargia galathea).[1]

Babcary Meadows is one of the last remaining areas of traditionally managed unimproved neutral grassland in south Somerset and contains a rich variety of herbs.

The site is positioned to the north of the River Cary at an altitude of 30 metres (98 ft) on flat and gently sloping ground. The plant community contains a very high proportion of herbaceous species. Areas immediately adjacent to the river bank are frequently waterlogged and contain numerous tussocks of Soft rush (Juncus effusus). Associated plants include Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria), Cuckoo flower (Cardamine pratensis) and Common fleabane (Pulicaria dysenterica).[1]

Over two hundred species of flora have been recorded on the 12 hectares (30 acres) Somerset Wildlife Trust reserve, fourteen of which are classified 'notable species' in Somerset, and six of which are orchids. Badgers (Meles meles) and Roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) frequent the reserve and it is probable that Otters (Lutra lutra) use the river corridor.[2] The site was purchased by the trust following grant assistance from South Somerset Council.[3]

Fuck you and your shit. This faggot posted a dead bird as an OP image. That is enough for me to go postal on him.

The site includes the Somerset Wildlife Trust's Mounsey Wood Nature Reserve and Knaplock and North Barton SSSI notified in 1954. The site is within Exmoor National Park.

The Barle Valley contains extensive tracts of ancient upland Sessile Oak ancient woodland which exhibit variations in structure and species composition as a result of difference in past management, geology and topography. The diversity of the site is increased substantially by areas of valley mire, heathland and acid grassland. Eighty five woodland vascular plant species have been recorded including thirty one ancient woodland indicators from a single compartment. The meadows are one of the few sites for Great Burnet (Sanguisorba officinalis) on Exmoor. Springs emerging from the base of sandstone slopes generate nutrient poor acid mires dominated by Sphagnum and Polytrichum moss carpets. The lichen flora is exceptional both for its luxuriance and in the number of rare species. One hundred and sixty five taxa of epiphytic lichens are present containing a remarkably large proportion of ancient woodland indicators giving the Barle a very high index of ecological continuity.

Wood WarblerThe site contains an outstanding assemblage of woodland breeding birds including particularly high densities of Wood Warbler (Phylloscopus sibilatrix), Redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus) and Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca). These are all Summer visitors.

The River Barle provides an important habitat for Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis), Dipper (Cinclus cinclus) and Grey Wagtail (Motacilla cinerea), while scrub and heath have breeding Stonechat (Saxicola torquata) and Whinchat (Saxicola rubetra).

    [edit] Other Species
Twenty species of butterfly have been recorded in the valley including the nationally scarce Marsh Fritillary (Eurodryas aurinia) and nationally vulnerable High Brown Fritillary (Argynnis adippe). Both Roe Deer (Capreolus capreolus) and Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) graze areas of wood pasture. The presence of Otters (Lutra lutra) on the Barle has been regularly recorded. A colony of Dormice (Muscardinus avellanarius) inhabits at least one of the Hazel coppices.[1]

To my defense, I gave him a warning before that. I didn't care about gay jokes. And I didn't care he just wasted hours of my life. But he got my gf in it again, and now that's it. I gave in. Some people are just not meant to be met with patience. I can be very patient. With racists. With bad DMs. And with offensive jokes.
But if you put all of those into a mixer, and hit "CREATE HUMAN", and the put him in the same room with me for several hours, it's gonna get me mad at some point.

"Well, why don't you ask your gf about that? I'm sure she could tell a story or two about me."

Yes. I disguised that as a joke. I mean, I and his gf tried stuff once, but we just didn't match, and decided to leave it at that. We were good friends ever since. He snapped. He pushed me out of my chair, since I was not expecting this, then sat back and laughed "sure she does".

He probably was expecting to be safe, since noone would punch someone who sat down, right?

Barrington Hill Meadows, 2 km west of the A358, midway between the villages of Windmill Hill and Bickenhall, is an English Nature National Nature Reserve.[1]

This site comprises four meadows surrounded by well established hedges on gently sloping clay-rich soils. It is an outstanding example of a traditionally managed unimproved neutral grassland of a type now rare in Britain. Additional interest lies in the occurrence of an extremely rare grass species. The meadows belong to a type characterised by the widespread occurrence of Sweet Vernal Grass (Anthoxanthum odoratum), Crested Dog's-tail (Cynosurus cristatus), Cowslip (Primula veris) and Green-winged Orchid (Orchis morio). A total of 74 different species have so far been recorded. This site is one of only 3 localities in Britain in which the grass Gaudinia fragilis is a prominent feature of the sward. [2]

Hahahaha! You are all so mad is great!

The Little Breach reserve, which forms part of the SSSI is an area of heathy grassland on Greensand, with some blackthorn and birch, noted for its butterflies and moths.[1]

Blackdown and Sampford Commons have the finest and most extensive surviving examples of the heathland, carr woodland and marshy grassland habitats that have developed on the acidic soils overlying the Greensand and Keuper Marls of the Blackdown Hills. The heathland supports a typical invertebrate fauna, including a wide variety of butterfly species, and with spiders notably abundant. The site is regionally important for birds which favour heathland habitats.[2]

(Damn, I wish I could pull a bel-air now, but this story just needs to be told to the end.)

"I" I grabbed the dungeon masters guide that was on my legs and fell down with me.

"fucking" I could see he wasn't expecting me to actually do it. Yet the reflexes in his body got the better of him and he tried to lift his arms and turn away, closing his eyes.

"TOLD YOU" this is where the rage took for. The form of a dungeon masters guide, hardcover, wielded with two hands, flying straight at a human face. The anger I calmly gathered and sealed away, the rage of a million moments where I should have done what was about to happen. Even if his arms would've made it in time, I know that the chair would've still acted the same way it was about to.

The improvised weapon struck home. Flat in his face. With a statisfying "BANG", as books like these make when you drop them on a flat surface. He fell back, in his chair, hitting the nearby wall with his head with a noticable "BONK".

"TO LEAVE MY GIRLFRIEND OUT OF THIS!". I yelled. It really wasn't cool at all. I felt bad for letting him get the best of me. But I felt so god-damn good at the same time. I knew that I couldn't have done anything else, that I couldn't have hold back any more. I was at my limit. And it felt so FUCKING GOOD.

He lost consiousness. I'd like to believe from the book, but more likely from the wall. Bro tier friend immeadiatly got up to get between us, but I was done. DMs brother and guy I didn't know much where trying to get DM to say something. I just told my bro it was ok, he made sure twice, then I pulled out my cellphone and called an ambulance.
But, and this is the truth, I did it with the following words (translated, of course):

"Excuse me, I just knocked an asshole unconsiouss and would like to make sure he isn't dead."

Self-respect. Is SELF-respect. I dont need your approval nor YOUR respect. Idiot.

    History
There is evidence of a pagan shrine at Brean Down dating from pre-Roman times[2] which was re-established as a Romano-Celtic style temple in the mid-4th century and probably succeeded by a small late-4th century Christian oratory.[3] There is also evidence of an Iron age hill fort and prehistoric barrows and field systems.[4]

Brean Down Fort was built on the headland between 1864 and 1871 on the recommendations of the 1859 Royal Commission. It was the most southerly of a chain of defences across the Bristol Channel, protecting the access to Bristol and Cardiff. On the outbreak of World War II the fort was rearmed with two 6" ex-naval guns and machine gun posts were built on the Down. During WWII the site was also used as a test launch site for rockets and experimental weapons, and a large arrow was painted on the down to direct bombers to the practice range.

In the 1860s plans were laid for a deep water harbour on the northern shore of Brean Down. The foundation stones of the pier were laid, but the project was later abandoned after a large storm destroyed the foundations.[5]

In 1897, following wireless transmissions from Lavernock Point in Wales and Flat Holm, Guglielmo Marconi moved his equipment to Brean Down and set a new distance record for wireless transmission over open sea.

In 1952 the former Axbridge Rural District Council gave the down to the National Trust to celebrate the "Festival of Britain". After restoring the fort, Sedgemoor District Council gave this to the trust as well in 2002.

Various proposals have been put forward to construct a Severn Barrage for tidal electricity production from Brean Down to Lavernock Point in south Wales.

Not bawwwwing at all. Since I am actually enjoying this.

    Ecology
The nationally rare White Rock-rose (Helianthemum appenninum) is a common species at the site, occurring in abundance on the upper reaches of the grassy south-facing slopes.[6] Some of the broomrapes growing here which were originally thought to be Oxtongue Broomrape (Orobanche artemisiae-campestriae) are now no longer believed to be this species, but atypical specimens of Ivy Broomrape (O. hederae) [7]

Other plants on the southern slopes include the Somerset Hair Grass, wild thyme, Horseshoe Vetch and birds-foot-trefoil. The northern side is dominated by Bracken, bramble, privet, hawthorn, cowslips and bell heather.

The birds seen on Brean Down include Peregrine falcon, jackdaw, kestrel, collared and stock doves, whitethroat, linnet, stonechat, dunnock and rock pipit. There are also several species of butterfly including; Chalkhill blue, Dark Green Fritillary, Meadow Brown, Marbled White, small heath, and common blue.

Bridgwater Bay is on the Bristol Channel, 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) north of Bridgwater in Somerset, England at the mouth of the River Parrett and the end of the River Parrett Trail. It consists of large areas of mud flats, saltmarsh, sandflats and shingle ridges, some of which are vegetated. It has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest since 1989,[1] and is designated as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention.[2] The risks to wildlife are highlighted in the local Oil Spill Contingency Plan.[3]

In addition to the rivers, Parrett, Brue and Washford several of the man-made drainage ditches, including the River Huntspill, from the Somerset Levels, including the "Pawlett Hams", also drain into the bay.

I felt really bad afterwards. I know I don't seem like a person like that, but I always expec the worst to happen and hence usually try not to engage in a physical way.

His little brother looked at me in a weird way btw, like he was considering if he should hit me in the face. I still had enough rage in me to glare him into oblivion, and he was then busy attending to his brother.

After ambulance took him away and guy i didnt know vanished, bro friend and I left home.

I felt really bad about what happened. I don't like loosing my cool. And I don't like hitting people. And I don't like doing it with the book I borrowed from bro friend. I felt uneasy, and it was late at night, we had a long, awkward way home in front of us.

Then he said the one sentence that made me cheer up again, one that totally defused whatever was left inside of me.

"Huh, who's dungeon master now, hm?"

The Bay occupies the sweeping arc of coastline between the wave-cut platform of Jurassic Blue Lias at the northern tip of the Quantock Hills and the cliffs of Carboniferous Dolomites and Limestone at Brean Down which project into the Severn Estuary and provide some degree of protection from the erosive tidal currents. Strong prevailing westerly winds have thrown up sand dunes at Berrow and a shingle ridge and Steart. On the beach near Stogursey are the remains of a submerged forest dated to 2500 B.C.[4] - 6500 BC.[5]

Hinkley Point in Bridgwater Bay. Brent Knoll can be seenBrean Down is a promontory marking the eastern end of the bay. Made of carboniferous limestone, it is a continuation of the Mendip Hills, and two further continuations are the small islands of Steep Holm and Flat Holm. It is owned by the National Trust, and is rich in wildlife, history and archaeology, as well as being a Site of Special Scientific Interest in its own right.[6] There are steep cliffs and, at its seaward point, a Brean Down Fort built in 1865 and then re-armed in the Second World War. There is evidence of an Iron age hill fort and prehistoric barrows and field systems,[7] and a pagan shrine at dating from pre-Roman times[8] which was re-established as a Romano-Celtic style temple in the mid-4th century and probably succeeded by a small late-4th century Christian oratory.[9] In 1897, following wireless transmissions from Lavernock Point in Wales and Flat Holm, Guglielmo Marconi moved his equipment to Brean Down and set a new distance record for wireless transmission.

Oh my... now you are going to teach me what self-respect is? FUCK OFF.

At low tide large parts of the bay become mud flats, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) wide, due to the tidal range of 15 metres (49 ft),[10] second only to Bay of Fundy in Eastern Canada.[11][12] The intertidal mud flats are, as a result, potentially dangerous and it is not uncommon for the emergency services to mount rescue operations. Following the death of Lelaina Hall off Berrow in 2002, a local fund raising campaign succeeded in purchasing a Swedish-built BBV6 rescue hovercraft. The hovercraft is operated by BARB in Burnham-on-Sea. Much of the coastline within the western part of the reserve is accessible via a waymarked public footpath,[13] and the South West Coast Path begins at Minehead at the western end of the bay.

Hinkley Point is a headland extending into Bridgwater Bay 5 miles (8.0 km) west of Burnham-on-Sea, close to the mouth of the River Parrett. The landscape of Hinkley Point is dominated by two nuclear power stations: Hinkley Point A - Magnox (now closed) and Hinkley Point B - AGR. A third, twin-unit European Pressurized Reactor (EPR) reactor is planned, and will become Hinkley Point C.[14]

Man made sea defenses include a sea wall at Burnham-on-Sea and a 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) section south from Brean Down. There is also an isolated fossil aeolian sand dune belt fronted by a salt marsh deliberately planted in 1928.[15] There are some concerns that the proposed Severn Barrage could leave some sites high and dry, and others permanently under water.[16] The Steart Peninsula has flooded many times during the last millennium. The most severe recent floods occurred in 1981. By 1997, a combination of coastal erosion, sea level rise and wave action had made some of the defences distinctly fragile and at risk from failure. As a result in 2002 The Environment Agency produced the Stolford to Combwich Coastal Defence Strategy Study to examine options for the future.[17]

I stand for the well-fare of animals. Sorry if you are against that gigantic faggot. And I am doing this for that dead innocent bird. And if that makes PETA or some shit fuck you!

The foreshore at Watchet, which lies at the mouth of the Washford River, and on the edge of Exmoor National Park, is rocky, but has a small harbour. The cliffs between Watchet and Blue Anchor show a distinct pale, greenish blue colour, resulting from the coloured alabaster found there. The name "Watchet" or "Watchet Blue" was used in the 16th century to denote this colour.[18][19]

East Quantoxhead used to have a small harbour which brought in limestone for local limekilns and exported alabaster. It is thought that it was also used for smuggling.[20]

At Kilve are the remains of a red brick retort, built in 1924, when it was discovered that the shale found in the cliffs was rich in oil. The beach is part of the Blue Anchor to Lilstock Coast SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). Along this coast the cliffs are layered with compressed strata of oil-bearing shale and blue, yellow and brown lias embedded with fossils. In 1924 Dr Forbes-Leslie founded the Shaline Company to exploit them. This retort house is thought to be the first structure erected here for the conversion of shale to oil but the company was unable to raise sufficient capital and this is now all that remains of the anticipated Somerset oil boom.[21]

    Fishing

Flatner in the Watchet Boat Museum. The intertidal mud flats of the bay have a long history of use for fishing, with structures on Stert Flats being dated by dendrochronological analysis to between 932 and 966.[5] It is the last site in England used for 'mudhorse fishing' in which a wooden sledge is propelled across the mudflats to collect fish from nets.[16] Catches include: grey mullet, plaice, dogfish, cuttlefish, skate, shrimp, prawns, sea bass, and sole.[22]

Watchet Boat Museum displays the unusual local flatner boats which were used in the bay and associated artefacts.[23]

    Ecology

Tidal mudflats at Combwich, near the mouth of the River Parrett on Bridgwater BayAt low tide extensive areas of mudflats (the Steart and the Berrow Flats) are exposed, providing important feeding and over-wintering grounds for waders (shorebirds). The ditches and ponds contain a diverse invertebrate fauna including six nationally rare species and eighteen nationally scarce species.[1] Consequently Bridgwater Bay is a National Nature Reserve, and is managed by Natural England.[24]

The Site of Special Scientific Interest is designated as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention.[25] It is also a Nature Conservation Review Grade 1* site. The site is contiguous with the Brean Down, Berrow Dunes and Blue Anchor to Lilstock Coast SSSIs.[1]

I am not a "dude" for fucks sake!!!

    Flora
Common Cord-grass (Spartina anglica) dominates much of the seaward edge of the marsh, having vigorously invaded and consolidated the fronting mudflats, following plantings in the early 1900s.[26] The spartina is generally shorter in the bay than at other sites due to the high tides and the turbidity of the water, reaching around 30 centimetres (11.8 in) as opposed to 150 centimetres (59.1 in) elsewhere.[27] On higher ground Common Saltmarsh-grass (Puccinellia maritima) increases in abundance with Sea Aster (Aster tripolium). Where the land is ungrazed, Common Reed (Phragmites australis) ofetn forms a zone above this. Where the upper marsh is grazed Red Fescue (Festuca rubra) and Creeping Bent (Argostis stolonifera) are found. Sea Couch (Elymus pycnanthus) and Sea Club-rush (Scirpus maritimus) occur at the landward edge of the marsh.[1]

High level sheep-grazed marshes carry populations of the nationally scarce Bulbous Foxtail (Alopecurus bulbosus), Slender Hare's-ear (Bupleurum tenuissimum) and Sea Barley (Hordeum marinum) while Stert Island is known to support the nationally rare Compact Brome (Bromus madritensis) and nationally scarce Ray's Knotgrass (Polygonum oxyspermum).[1]

A wide variety of aquatic and bankside plant species occur in the ditches including the nationally restricted Rootless Duckweed (Wolffia arrhiza), together with uncommon species such as Frogbit (Hydrocharis morsus-ranae) and Water Fern (Azolla filiculoides). The slightly brackish nature of the water is indicated by the presence of plants such as the nationally restricted Brackish Water-crowfoot (Ranunculus baudotii) and Sea Clubrush (Scirpus maritimus).[1]

    Fauna
Five Red Data Book invertebrate species have been recorded: the Great Silver Water Beetle (Hydrophilus piceus), the water beetle Hydrovatus clypealis, the hover fly (Lejops vittata) and the soldier flies Odontomyia ornata and Stratiomys singularior. Nationally scarce species include the aquatic snail Cyraulus laevis, the Hairy Dragonfly Brachytron pratense and a ladybird Coccidula scutellata.[1]

Bridgwater Bay is a critical feeding ground for passage and over-wintering waders and wildfowl, with approximately 190 species recorded on the reserve.[2] It supports internationally important numbers of Whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus) and Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa) and nationally important numbers of Dunlin (Calidris alpina) and Wigeon (Anas penelope).[1] In early winter the Wigeon select Puccinellia maritima in preference to Agrostis stolonifera and Festuca rubra.[30] Avocets have become regular autumn and winter visitors to the area in recent years, favouring the lower reaches of the River Parrett.

Rare vagrant species spotted in the area include Wilson's Phalarope, Lesser Yellowlegs, White-rumped Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper, Montagu's Harrier (in spring), Ortolan Bunting and Richard's Pipit (in autumn).

Catcott, Edington and Chilton Moors SSSI is a 1083 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Somerset, England notified in 1967. It is close to the villages of Edington and Catcott.

It is part of the Brue Valley Living Landscape conservation project. The project commenced in January 2009 and aims to restore, recreate and reconnect habitat. It aims to ensure that wildlife is enhanced and capable of sustaining itself in the face of climate change[1] while guaranteeing farmers and other landowners can continue to use their land profitably. It is one of an increasing number of landscape scale conservation projects in the UK.[2][3][4]

The site consists of low lying land south of the River Brue, which floods on a regular basis; land north of here is included in the Tealham and Tadham Moors SSSI. The site is managed by Somerset Wildlife Trust and includes the Catcott Lows National Nature Reserve,[5][6] Catcott Heath[7] and Catcott North.[8]

A variety of fauna are found due to the varied soil types and management practices. Unimproved swards include meadows dominated Meadow Thistle (Cirsium dissectum), Meadow Rue (Thalictrum flavum) and similar species, and Southern Marsh-orchid (Dactylorhiza praetermissa). In the wetter areas Rushes and Marsh marigold (Caltha palustris) are found. Catcott Heath is noted for its rare vascular plants including Marsh Pea (Lathyrus palustris), Milk-parsley (Peucedanum palustre) and Marsh Fern (Thelypteris thelypteroides). A total of 127 aquatic and bankside vascular plant species have been recorded in the field ditches, Internal Drainage Board maintained Rhynes and deep arterial watercourses.[9]

The botanically rich water channels support a diverse invertebrate fauna including water beetles Haliplus mucronatus and Hydrophilus piceus. The rare soldier fly (Stratiomys furcata) is found, and there are good numbers of dragonflies and damselflies.[9]

The range of plants and inverterates support many bird species including Golden Plover (Pluvialis apricota), Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus), Snipe (Gallinago gallinago) and Dunlin (Calidris alpina). Other vertebrate species present, include the Otter (Lutra lutra), Grass Snake (Natrix natrix) and Common Frog (Rana temporaria).[9]

Chancellor's Farm (grid reference ST525525) is a 34.2-hectare (84.6 acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest just north of Priddy in the Mendip Hills, Somerset, notified in 1984.

The site, which is close to the Yoxter military range, is operated as a restricted-access nature reserve by the Somerset Wildlife Trust.[1]

This site provides outstanding examples of some of the grassland communities associated with the higher parts of the Mendip plateau. The soils include a mixture of wind-deposited silts and weathered material from the parent Carboniferous Limestone. The grassland is a type characterised by Sweet Vernal Grass (Anthoxanthum odoratum), Red Fescue (Festuca rubra), Common Bent (Agrostis capillaris), Pignut (Conopodium majus) and Sorrel (Rumex acetosa). Of particular interest is the abundance of Common Bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta), a species rare outside woodland habitats in Somerset.[2]

The site includes extensive remains of lead mining from the medieval period to the early 18th century, with some evidence of iron mining in the north east corner of the site.[3]

Cheddar Reservoir is an artificial reservoir in Somerset, England, operated by Bristol Water. Dating from the 1930s it has a capacity of 135 million gallons (614,000 cubic metres). The reservoir is supplied with water taken from the Cheddar Yeo river in Cheddar Gorge. The inlet grate for the 54 inches (1.4 m) water pipe that is used to transport the water can be seen immediately upstream from the sensory garden in Cheddar Gorge.

It lies to the west of the village of Cheddar and south east of the town of Axbridge. It is roughly circular in shape, and surrounded by large earth banks which are grazed by sheep. It has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (Ref No:1003948) due to its wintering waterfowl populations.[1]

It was the first British reservoir to permit sailing.[2] Bristol Corinthians sailing club is situated at its northern end. Other recreational activities at the reservoir include windsurfing, angling (for pike and roach), and birdwatching.

Too long to answer all. But from what I read I can tell you are FULL OF SHIT.

    Birds
The reservoir, which has an area of 105.4 hectares (260 acres) is attractive to waterbirds; in particular wintering wildfowl and gulls.

Wildfowl present regularly in winter include Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), Gadwall (A. strepera), Tufted Duck (Aythya fuligula), Common Pochard (Ay. ferina), Eurasian Wigeon (Anas penelope), Common Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula) and Goosander (Mergus merganser). A large flock of Coot (Fulica atra) is present, and Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus) is also numerous.[3]

Because of its proximity to the Bristol Channel, storm-blown seabirds are occasionally found here, including Shag, Grey Phalarope, and divers and grebes.[3]

A moderately-sized gull roost has attracted Glaucous, Iceland and Ring-billed Gulls on multiple occasions.[3]

A number of rare and scarce vagrant birds have been seen at Cheddar Reservoir, mainly waterfowl and shorebirds. Up to 2004 the following species had occurred:[3]

You fucking retard. Tripfaggot is not an insult to all tripusers.

Cheddar Wood (grid reference ST445552) is a 86.9 hectares (215 acres) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest at Cheddar in the Mendip Hills, Somerset, notified in 1967.

Cheddar Wood and the smaller Macall's Wood near Cheddar Gorge, are what remains of the wood of the Bishops of Bath and Wells in the thirteenth century and of King Edmund the Magnificent's wood in the tenth. It lies on Carboniferous Limestone with rock showing through the thin topsoils. In 1801 the wood was larger than it is today. During the nineteenth century its lower fringes were grubbed out to make strawberry fields, most of which have reverted to woodland. It was coppiced until 1917.[1]

This site compromises a wide range of habitats which includes ancient and secondary semi-natural broadleaved woodland, unimproved neutral grassland and a complex mosaic of calcareous grassland and acidic dry dwarf-shrub heath. Two nationally rare plant species are also present. Additional interest lies in the invertebrate fauna. Cheddar Wood is one of only a few English stations for Starved Wood-sedge (Carex depauperata), which grows in the lane along the east side of the wood. [2]

This whole thread is against the rules. The dead bird pics, faggotry and circle-jerking. So kindly fuck off with your biased opinion. Now this thread is dead it seems. So bye byeee.

The nationally rare Purple Gromwell (Lithospermum purpurocaeruleum) is also present, growing in the lane along the west side of the wood.[2] Butterflies include Silver-washed Fritillary (Argynnis paphia), Dark Green Fritillary (Argynnis aglaja), Pearl-bordered Fritillary (Boloria euphrosyne), Holby Blue (Celastrina argiolus) and Brown Argus (Aricia agestis). The slug Arion fasciatus, which has a restricted distribution in the south of England, and the soldier beetle Cantharis fusca also occur.[3]

The site is managed as two nature reserves by Somerset Wildlife Trust Cheddar Wood Edge which covers 7.1 hectares (18 acres) of old strawberry fields, is now reverting to semi species-rich limestone grassland and scrub with ancient woodland hedges, and Cheddar Wood itself which has restricted access allowed by permit.

And calling a black person a nigger would not be an insult to all blacks, though others may still not appreciate the use of the word so.
Not that any tripfag would be offended by being called a tripfaggot, of course- just as any black would be underwhelmed by the passive-comedic racism of the majority of 4chan's boards.

Trotzdem ist Deutsch wahnsinnig interessant zu mich und hoffentlich kann ich eines Tages Deutschland besuchen und dort kann ich lehre English zu den Deutschen. Es gibt ein Austauschprogram fuer das. I'll be content with my english after I stop making silly mistakes. As long as I still do, it still fails.

I even stole the east-coast accent on my last US trip so people wouldn't know it's not my native tongue. But they still see through it if I make mistakes. Hence, I must stop making mistakes.

The moment I am contend is the moment I stop improving. That moment shall not be now.

The first year German fag here, Laz. We all make mistakes, bro. Don't worry about it. I kept on making them when I was typing in German, but mistakes define us for humans are defined by imperfections. (Although as a perfectionist I can relate. I don't feel like my German is good enough either because I keep making mistakes! Guess I can give that advice out, but not follow it ;)

    Well yeah.

It IS awkward. I only had gf who were virgins before.

Now I have one that isn't. And it's awesome. Like... like REALLY.

I know most of you fa/tg/uys out there are still trying to find a virgin, but heed my advice. Do not make that a deciding factor.

Girls don't "decrease in worth" after having sex. It's quite the opposite!

Dazu kriege ich hoffentlich ein TESOL-Zertifikat (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) und ein M.A. in Applied English Linguistics. Mal sehen, was aber in der Zukunft passiert...
