I like to give my meatheaded character stereotypical German names like "Konrad Eisenstein" or "Ulrich Kavernfaust" because German is a barbaric language and thusly awesome.

The original use of the word "barbarian" technically referred to anyone outside of the Roman Empire, so that would be correct.

It's greek for "People who speak like sheep" for their "cultured ears" Germanic languages just sounded like sheep baaing. Hence Barbarian, the Romans carried that tradition over when dealing with the same people. So anyone who's not speaking Germanic, Slavic, or Scandinavian language would be consider Barbarians.

Since English is a Germanic Language, and "American" evolved from English. We're all technicality speaking, Barbarians.

You think learning how to correctly place commas in English sentences is hard?

German would like to have a FUCKING word with you.

I know German, albeit not well enough to embarrass myself by trying to write a response to you in it. My point wasn't that comma placement in English is difficult; it was that comma placement errors are extremely common amongst native English speakers.

Well, with an average number of twelve commas in a normal sentence, it's not a bad plan. I always placed them at random or whenever I felt like it.

    I still do, actually.

We had a busty (and very blonde) Teacher in school once who was part Swedish. That one time she read a rather long text in Swedish to the class, it was actually pretty beautiful. maybe it was just her voice but I was surprised how smooth and pleasant Swedish could sound. She also cried half way thought because it was 'a very sad text' she said.

The entire class didn't know what to say, it was kinda weird listening to a crying women, reading a sad story about German soldier in Sweden during WWII in a language we didn't understand. But it was fascinating and lovely.

I'm not even saying I think it's a necessary distinction, just that it's not a recent delineation of English. In Crowley's time I think it would have been more useful but it's pretty irrelevant these days. And yes, mainly used by fat wiccan chicks. As a magician (not the GOB kind), I'd be pretty loathe to use "magick" when talking to pretty much anybody.
