    Old thread: >>7161417

You are Teddy Roosevelt the level 6 Hill Gian Pugilist, and current King of the Foothills Gnolls.

You are back in your pack's territory. It is the day after the battle. You have hunters chasing the survivors that got away. No word from the elves.

    What do you do?
    >> Anonymous 12/16/09(Wed)17:46 No.7164548
Choose a beta and tell him the plan from before, we can assume the humans will return so we must hurry. We'll check in with the elves to find out about the halflings and then go for the goblins/dwarves
    >> Anonymous 12/16/09(Wed)17:49 No.7164596
The gnolls will need to do something constructive, instead of all this violent behavior. How about singing or dancing?
    >> Theodore Rossevelt, Hill Giant Extraordinare !!0vz0retDvfb 12/16/09(Wed)17:51 No.7164612
You find a scrawny gnoll who hasn't left your side since the battle and tell him your plan. He squeals in delight upon hearing it. You put him in charge as second-in-command of the gnolls.

He needs a name. What is our gnoll follower's name, /tg/?
    >> Anonymous 12/16/09(Wed)17:51 No.7164614
Instruct beta on finer points of tap-dancing first, have him pass it along?
    >> Anonymous 12/16/09(Wed)17:51 No.7164616
can we set the gnolls to making us some stuff?

IIRC we are just wearing a wolf pelt jacket thing and some rough breeches.
Perhaps they can fashion us some crude armor? Some spiked gloves?

Also, we need to come up with a royal symbol, something we can mark our territory and pack with.
We should designate a priest/priestess of whatever that god they were worshiping was to keep the pack together and under out thumb.
    >> Anonymous 12/16/09(Wed)17:51 No.7164623
I say, we order the gnolls to multiply. we will need a larger army to defend the inevitable (and large) retalation party.
    >> Anonymous 12/16/09(Wed)17:51 No.7164624
Do we think the Gnolls will be able to make an alliance with the Goblins on their own?
If so, send a treaty party of Gnolls to the goblins, go to the Dwarves ourselves.
Maybe bring some Elves, if the two don't hate each other.
Just don't travel with the Gnolls, or we'll get shot up by the Dwarves just for travelling with them.

I seriously think we should keep our tree club for the duration of the quest and just collect upgrades for it from everyone we meet. This is a wooden club. It menaces with spikes of oak. It menaces with spikes of human bone. It menaces with spikes of iron. It menaces with spikes of steel.

Question: how committed to yeenoghu are these gnolls. Do they only do the blood for the blood god thing because of the leader, or are they just innately shitty and dumb.
    >> Anonymous 12/16/09(Wed)17:54 No.7164675
we need to remember that the other races won't get on with the gnolls very well.

The dwarves will probably be flat-out hostile to us.
Also, if we make all these alliances the gnolls will have nothing to raid and pillage, and we will very promptly be deposed as their leader.
    >> Theodore Rossevelt, Hill Giant Extraordinare !!0vz0retDvfb 12/16/09(Wed)17:55 No.7164680
Howlard Taft isn't very good at tap-dancing, but he promises to try his hardest to practice. As second in command, he is also the designated new high-priest of Yeenoghu or whatever. The gnolls celebrate by sacrificing two of the victims. You keep Redspot's bone club and use it as a cane. Pimpin'.

The gnolls aren't great at constructing things. Perhaps we should ask the elves.

Can I have a drawfag make a sigil for Teddy?
    >> Anonymous 12/16/09(Wed)17:56 No.7164694
Gentlemen, let us not forget why we started this quest. We want to avoid unnecessary bloodshed, so we need to consider diplomacy and peaceful negotiation. And in case that won't work, we order the gnolls to start constructing a fortress. Let's dig in and defend this hill.

The gnolls are pretty devoted to Yeenoghu. They have no reason not to be, they see him as giving them power in exchange for killing.
From what I'm gathering you all are trying to civilize the gnolls. You will have to convince the other races that can be done.
    >> Anonymous 12/16/09(Wed)18:03 No.7164788

    >> Anonymous 12/16/09(Wed)18:05 No.7164803

I'm not sure I like that plan. Isn't our main plan to get our home back and then peace out?

Changing the nature of a culture would be a fuckton of work, and would require a fuckton of killing. It's not like we can bribe gnolls into not being chaotic evil.
    >> Theodore Rossevelt, Hill Giant Extraordinare !!0vz0retDvfb 12/16/09(Wed)18:06 No.7164828
Leaving the pack under Howlard Taft's control, you set off through the forest to your elven friends.

Your journey through the forest takes about a day and a half. You reach the elvish encampment and are greeted warmly by your shaman friend (named Gennal) and Adran, the latter who seems to be much friendlier to you now.

    What do you do?

    >pretty devoted to Yeenoghu.
I'm thinking this is going to be a long term problem, since it means we have to choose between running gnolltown and having allies. We need to check the elfs right now but sometime soon we need to:
    -gather gnolls
-make a speech about how we's the biggest and we don't need to sacrifice anyone
-point out that not being simultaneously at war with everyone allows you to focus and be more effective
-at the end of the speech, offer to punch the fuck out of anyone who says yeenoghu>HONOR AND MIGHT

More of a long term suggestion than a vote though.

Ask their attitude towards Dwarves RE: alliance.

Engineer an 'escape' by a few pf the captured humans, then have them come back and slaughter the Gnoll priesthood while they are int he forest performing a sacrifice.
We know the humans did it because there are a few dead humans around among the entire cadre of religious leaders, and the wounds were done with human weapons.
(Spoiler: Us and the Elves did it.)

Long term plans, elves or some other non aggressive humanoid to be around our ancient home, gnolls somewhere where they won't draw attention to us.

I would rather not kill off the gnolls, just under the general pugilist mantra of not fucking your own underlings if you can prevent it, and I figure that we can probably figure out someway to both be nice to the elves and to the gnolls.

"civilizing" the gnolls is a plan doomed to failure.

They are chaotic evil. There's a reason they never make it above "I'Z DA BIGGEST, I'Z DA BOSS"

if we try to bend them to our dapper and gentlemanly ways, they will turn on us or the DM is doinitwrong.

They are disposable pawns that need to be disposed of asap
wait, ask them if we can rely on their support in battle. Ask them if they can come up with better clothing/armor/boxing gloves(or knuckle dusters) for us
Ask if there is anything we can do to secure their loyalty in the future, offer the land in the human settlement to them.

ask them to send an emissary to the dwarves to try to get an alliance between them as I can't see dwarves allying with gnolls
    >> Theodore Rossevelt, Hill Giant Extraordinare !!0vz0retDvfb 12/16/09(Wed)18:31 No.7165189
I like that image. We'll use that

You set off towards to mountains. You stop back at your pack for some last minute supplies and to check up on everything. The gnolls are working quickly to reinforce your hill and are doing a half-way decent job. It won't hold up against a full army, but it will do for now.

You begin climbing the mountains. You have no idea where the dorfs or goblins are, so you wander aimlessly for two days. Finally, you find evidence of goblins nearby. You follow the trail to a plateau. The goblins are here, sure enough....and so is someone else...

Instead of the old shaman, another giant sits upon a rough throne, the goblins scrabbling around him like slaves. Looks like you have another leader to deal with /tg/.

    Working on it.

Moving back down the mountain takes some time. But you finally lead Alton and the gobbos back down to your hill. You've been gone roughly a week, and the gnolls have done a good job reinforcing the place. Wooden ramparts, a large ditch, and spikes surround the bottom of it, as well as large stacks of wood to roll down on charging humans. The gnolls are also pitching up larger tents. The goblins take camp behind the hill, with Alton there as well.
