You are Paul, a man who is trapped inside his dreamscape by a powerful being seeking entertainment. He gave you one power: at random times and intervals, you have a danger sense. Thanks to an imprecise request, it manifests as your panicked right hand pulling a writing utensil out of your pocket and scribbling down details.

Your goal is to survive, and escape. You first found yourself in a mostly-abandoned hospital, where you met a girl who had been bound and locked in a closet. You freed her, and the two of you fled the hospital while being pursued by numerous floating abominations. In the process, you got generally banged up, and you badly injured your left ankle.

You next decided to scavenge for supplies within the town. After getting some much-needed food, water, weapons, first aid and other supplies--and almost losing your lives in the process--you deemed the town too dangerous to risk staying in longer. You got onto the highway, receiving a threatening message on the radio as you left.

Now, you're driving a classic model Thunderbird down the highway away from the town, in an environment where everything is colored sepia, with the girl, Alicia, next to you in a scavenged police uniform.

Your current supplies are as follows:

Classic Ford Thunderbird with an almost full tank of gas
Glock-20 10mm pistol (15 round magazine) [only basic proficiency in its use]
Set of large kitchen knives wrapped in a towel
    Jug of water
    Large duffel bag containing:
    -One spare police duty uniform
-1 bloodstained tactical (not bulletproof) vest
-One half of a two-way radio set and its holster
-1 pair of thick cut resistant gloves
-4 LED traffic batons (lights, not weapons)
    -Seatbelt cutter/window puncher
    -2 packs of cigarettes

RIGHT THEN. This is something I wanted to do the second I read the things about the puddles.

If it looks like we're in the clear, I want us to pull over, take out the jug of water, and pour enough to make a fair sized puddle on a nonabsorbent surface (like a concrete road), and see if we can find that poor lady again.

"I cAn stiLl SeE yoU, PAUL." That's what the voice on the radio said, as you hit the highway out of town. After that, static no matter which way you turned the dial.

You've been up for a while now, and between the running, fighting, and the chicken in your stomach, you're starting to feel tired. The sepia tinted darkness doesn't do anything to keep you awake, and all the headlights show you is open countryside ahead.

You're hauled roughly out of sleep by several harsh slaps across the face in rapid succession. You brace against your attacker, only to find that it's your own right hand that's been assaulting you. You pin it to the bed with your left hand. And suddenly you realize that you went to sleep without wearing any pockets.

The room is dark, and you're still groggy. But as you rouse yourself you can hear the faint creak of the door, followed by heavy footsteps and the crash of the lamp onto the floor.

The overhead light suddenly flares on, momentarily blinding you--but as your eyes recover, you see the following scene in front of you.

You fling the duffel bag over your right shoulder. No way are you leaving the supplies you nearly died for behind.

"Alicia! Out the door! Move!" you shout, sighting on the creature's head and squeezing off a shot. The hoped for result of brains splashing against the walls falls far short, with the creature's head only jerking slightly away for a moment, before it comes toward you with a vengeance.

You stand your ground as it approaches for a steady shot and fire another round as Alicia scurries out the door. You know you're hitting this thing! Time to follow the girl. You fling yourself forward, sliding underneath the thing and popping up to in the hallway. A set of 5 inch claws tears a hunk out of the door frame right behind you.

It was a pretty simple, if nicely kept up, old fashioned house. Doing an inventory of everything will take quite a while (you really want me to type out everything that could be of use?). Far easier for you to seek out specific items.

God damn, why is /tg/ so fucking gun nutty tonight? How about we don't blow up the car, possibly injuring ourselves or bringing more harm to us. Let's just pulverize the purple thing, or burn it or whatever, then continue preparing to leave. that is, once we have disposed of bodies and alicia is done making delicious caek.
    >> Dreamscape !!SbnXxXER/Ds 11/29/09(Sun)08:52 No.6920743
Almost as many votes for tossing it onto the fire as for beating it more. There are still some embers in the fireplace.

With the next strike, you see the purple thing jerk forward quickly, the rest of the body also twitching rapidly, almost like coils inside of it. The next strike pierces the purple thing, spreading a greenish ooze over the poker tip.

On a part that you haven't hit, the head of a pseudo-worm at least 3/4 an inch in diameter gnaws its way out through the carcass's skin and begins feeling around in the air.

You cast the poker away as though it were a snake. Which is actually pretty close to the truth, in this case. You slam the car door trunk down as the worm launches itself of the poker toward your left arm. The trunk pins it by the end and locks the others inside, but its mouth makes contact with your skin before its velocity is negated. Immediately the teeth go to work as it attempts to bore a hole to wriggle its 3/4 inch self into your arm. With dozens of tiny little bites with at least four separate mandibles, it's like how you'd imagine being bitten by a piranha.

You step back, ripping your arm away from the progressing mouths painfully, as Alicia comes bolting back with the knife she'd set down inside.

You pin the head down with your boot and split the worm open lengthwise with the knife. It lets out a shrill, fading scream as it dies.

You apply disinfectant on the wound, and a large bandaid wrapped in a spare small towel. Until you can think of a better way to know if poison is an issue, you tie off the arm for a little while. Not overly tight as you don't want to lose it, but the tourniquet does also help with reducing the blood flow at the wound.

You get the hell away from the T-bird.

While Alicia finishes cooking, you take some time to make as best a splint possible given the circumstances. You still really should have a doctor look at that.

There's still bodies to bury, but food's ready and--whoa. When she said she was a mean cook, that was an understatement. You've had Thanksgiving meals that were worse off than this, with more to cook from.

You whisk about gathering last minute items: a tarp (unfortunately, a little moth eaten), a basic toolkit (while not enough room for as much as you would like, you've got the essentials like a hammer, a few screwdrivers, pliers, allen wrench, some nails, and so on), and a can of extra gas from the T-bird. The last one takes a bit of willpower to go back to, but desperate times call for desperate measures. You're still trying to wash out the taste of gas from your mouth after siphoning it off. Nobody ever mentioned that it needed some skill.

The sleep passes uneventfully, making up for the interrupted night. The only difference is the clouds rolling in. Final preparations are made, and you head out to the truck.
    >> Dreamscape !!SbnXxXER/Ds 11/29/09(Sun)10:40 No.6921777
Everything in the truck is ready to go. You take the wheel, and realize that again you forgot to check an area of a vehicle before using it. You're reaching toward the truck's glove box when you notice your hand. Something bad this way comes.

Scanning around the truck, you don't see anything. Until you look up, and notice something starkly obvious against the sepia sky. Those ranks of clouds tearing across the heavens... they aren't sepia. And they don't look like harbingers of hope.

    End session 3
