END OF THE GOD DAMN WORLD QUEST part 3

Its June 4th, 2011. A few weeks ago, the discovery of a major space anomaly that threatened the Earth sent the United States into chaos.

You are: Richard Donaldson, former L.A. P.D. After landing in Bolinder Field - Tooele Valley Airport, not far out of Salt Lake city, you gassed up an SUV and made your way to Brian's home in the outskirts of Grantsville.

When you arrived you attempted to sneak your way into the building to see if it was safe, and you got hit in the head with a frying pan by Jessica, Brian's wife, for your trouble.

You have: One 9mm handgun, and 4 full magazine of 17 rounds, the fifth mag is short 4 shots. One Remington870 Shotgun (currently equipped as main weapon) with 7 shells. Just short of 2 weeks provisions (food, water), a Tazer with a full battery and your badge. You also have a SUV (equip with fuzzy dice at Brian's insistance)

Brian has the other handgun, with a full magazine as he hasnt fired a shot, he can fly the plane.

Now that its morning and your head isnt pounding anymore, first order of business could be any number of things. You could pump Jessica for information about whats been happening locally, or what she knows on a national scale. You could assess the house for supplies. You could check in with Brian.

WHAT IS YOUR FIRST MOVE, /TG/?

Brian and Jessica are in the kitchen as well. Jessica mumbles and apology, while Brian just looks happy to be back at his home.

"Well, I heard about the big report on the news about the space thing, but I didnt watch it, i'm feeling kinda stupid about that now. Around here the panic started in the cities and spread out into the towns. Here in Grantsvile though, cops kept the place together for a good while, it might still be ok, but it was starting to fall apart last I went to get groceries, and then those guys broke in and I decided to bunker down here. I heard on the radio that the East Coast is starting to calm down, but everything is still messed up, with contradicting messages, so I cant be sure."

Aside from the general things a medium sized country house would have (Tv, fridge, ect) The house has about 2 weeks worth a groceries for 2 people, a small portable tv/radio, Jessica's laptop, and propane tanks in the back yard from Brian's occasional attempts at grilling. ("Every time he nearly sets himself on fire, I dont know how but he does")

Well, I guess the thing to do now is decide whether we stay here with the two of them for awhile, go on alone, or attempt to convince them to go with us.

I vote we ask them to come with us to our parents.

Jessica seems to lean toward approval of the idea.
"If they're breaking into houses around here, it wont be safe here forever."
As glad as Brian was to get home, he wants to get Jessica to as safe a place as possible, so he agrees to the plan. (He'd be in more danger staying here than her, she's a full head taller than him and beat up a bunch of looters on her own)

Ask Brian how much of it will fit in the plane. If we can't take it all, order of importance:

    food
laptop and charger (she has a charger, right?)
    portable tv/radio.

I can't see a use for the propane, so I'd leave it there.

It might just be a single engine Cessna , but it should fit 3 people and a few backpacks worth of stuff.

With the addition of Jessica's food, and refilling the water bottles at the sink, you've now got about 2 and a half weeks worth of provisions for 3 people.

Ok. Pack everything into SUV. Roll up windows. Don't stop for anything. Brian drives us back to the airport. Can Jessica use a gun? If so, give her the handgun, tell her to be ready to use it if we're forced to stop. We'll have the shotgun ready.

Thats certainly a plan. Jessica went hunting with her father when she was younger, so while she might be skilled with a handgun, "I know which end goes bang" she says sarcastically.

Do you want to go straight to the airport, or do you want to check out Grantsville proper? There ARE a few stores there that would be worth checking out, a pharmacy and a gun store, Brian and Jessica confirm.

You take the same backwoods path around Grantsville that you took on the way in.

You go back to Brian with what you've gotten. You pass him some of the painkillers and tell him to find something to bite down on something as you find what you need to stitch that wound shut. It takes FAR longer than a trained paramedic would take (The fact that Jessica was hovering over Brain fretting wasnt helping), but you manage to pull it off.

One last sweep gives you the solvent Brian was looking for, and after a few minutes of proper application, the plane is slurless once more.
