429 KB Sand Castle Quest Pt. 3 OP 11/26/09(Thu)22:34 No.6885377
    Pt. 1: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/6855998/
    Pt. 2: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/6870742/
    Pt. 3:
We have: Repaired and brought online two satelites in orbit of our moon, one seems to be an area defense turret, the other a laser array for launching/braking solar sail ships. The turret had a rudimentary AI on it, and we gained some information from it. (Towards the end of pt. 2)

Explored undergound moonbase. (Abandoned.) Voided the atmosphere, after being assailed by a fungoid matter that eats superconductors.

Verified that everything we've found seems to have been abandoned for several thousand years.

Early we identified a large orbital spaceyard, and recently the laser array fired on something, braking a ship that delivered a cargo module to the space yard. We dispatched our probe to investigate it, and it is currently on the surface of the cargo ship.

[Unit] is currently residing at Sand Castle Prime.

    [Unit] ponders the next move.

That is disquieting. Assuming our original purpose wasn't born from who or wherever this cargo ship came from, we could be seeing some serious opposition to our presence here.

Any signals coming from this thing? Radio waves, micro waves, laser communcations?

Other than that, I say our probe hitches a ride down to the shipyard.

Acknowledged. Probe is approaching docking booms.

    Alert: Nanite activity detected.
    [56=56]Alert: minor locomotive appendage damage.

It seems a thin layer of nanites is flowing onto the cargo ship from the space yard.

    Possibilities: Attack? Repair? Scout? Capture?

    Continue toward space yard?
    >> Bill Murray !!WYG9L8p7tJh 11/26/09(Thu)23:07 No.6885805

The probe is expendable. Continue towards the shipyard. Scout and analyze the foreign nanites. Attempt communication. Failing that, leave the cargo ship onto the shipyard, looking for a place without nanites.

[I am an hour or so later than I said I'd be. And /tg/ does seem to have other Q threads going.]

Nanites seem either unable or unwilling to communicate.

Analysis: Nanites larger than [Unit]'s own components. Seem designed towards repair/maintenance. Also seem to be spread liberally over space yard itself.

Postulation: Maintenance/repair work; and performing such work on the newly arrived (returned?) cargo vessel?

The ones on the space yard don't seem to be quite as active. They do not damage probe. Space yard seems highly intact, and well maintained. Also vibrates slightly. Postulation: Impacts? Interior activity? Thrusting?

I'm against cutting object off from shipyard. Attempt to power up primary airlock; prepare to receive visitors.

Let's not jam it until we have a better reason to do so. If nothing else, monitoring it to figure out some of the communication is useful to us.

    Negative.
wait to see what happens when it lands. If nothing biological jumps out then try it.
Anything biological let wonder around for awhile and stay out of site, perhaps only leave Remote sensors. Don't kill anything alive, even an AI. They may have rights on this planet, but I doubt Anything mechanical will come up, proberble still think the molds up here.

Without interference, the craft lands. After a few moments, a ramp extends and doors open.

    Nothing exits. The craft waits.

    Send the rover in.

Indeed, seems like a good idea. Sandfort boldly goes where no mobile sandfort has gone before!
Think I'm going to end up crashing shortly, keep up the good work folks!

Gonna have to go with everyone else here, rover go in the craft.
    >> OP 11/27/09(Fri)03:32 No.6889177
The rover enters the craft. Nothing happens, however a spike in communications between the craft and the space yard is detected. Postulation: Does not consider rover sentient?

Attempt communication with craft. Show sentience. Direct it to sandcastle if we have to.

    [18=18]
Deciphered: 'contact', 'anomaly' [possible designation for [Unit]?) and a odd emphasis of contact. (different word, at least vaguely similar meaning.)

    Forgot about projects.
    [Unit] A: Done
[Unit] B: Just about done. 5 minutes to finish and regroup with A.

    Works for me.
Also, if I may impose (Upon you Sam, since you seem to be the last one here,)
Do you think you could write up a summary? I don't find myself very good at keeping it to just a summary, and you have a 'players view', and all.

Will get another thread up sometime this weekend, (friday-saturday-sunday). afternoon-evening-ish.

Happy to oblige; thanks for playing.

Well, I'm off for the night. Lie down before I fall over, and all that.
Hope to see you next time.
