    81 KB SandCastle Quest pt. 2 OP 11/25/09(Wed)23:04 No.6870742
No. It's not really about sandcastles. Well, not primairly, at any rate.

    Status report:
Originated from moon. Found underground complex on moon. (Entered; found no sentients, and none of the computers were working. A fungoid matter started to eat [Unit]'s superconductors (and therefore [Unit].), but abruptly stopped when we let the atmoshpere out.

Approached elderly orbital turret. Fired on probe, but did no damage.

Reactivated and repaired emitter, which turned out to be a laser-array. Probably used to launch/brake solar sails. Online and functioning.

Constructed Sand Castle, constructed generator arrays. Constructed sensor station. Fortified sand castle. Began etching pictograms of [Unit]'s current history onto sand castle.

Detected the two previously mentioned orbital installations, the planet this moon orbits (Probability of life approaching 100%) and detected a massive shipyard orbiting planet. (with sensor array.)

[Unit] A is currently aboard the laser array, and [Unit] B is currently inside the now-atmosphereless underground facility. ([Unit] cand divide self into multiple cohesive units. Efficiency slightly impaired, but functionality otherwise nominal.)

Picture only related to [Unit]'s sand castle obsession.

We have several (dead) samples already. (We figured out that it eats superconductors, such as the ones [Unit] is made of.) Since it seems to die out of atmosphere, and we already vented the complex, it seems a bit unlikely that we'll find any more here.

Also could be a long range 'morse code' style transmitter. Other satellite seems to be defense turret. (We've brought them both back online and up to nominal levels.)

Map data from turret provides solar field location as well as a capacitor field, designed to store energy for when the field was in the 'night' side.

Capacitor field was significantly damaged/destroyed by a meteor impact a couple millenia ago.
