Alright, /tg/ is full of scum, faggotry, and legos right now. ITS TIME FOR VICTORIAN QUEST!

You are Captain Roarke: A charismatic retired British Officer, you have led men all around the world, most famously in British India. You do this not for personal gain but for the sense of adventure. You are famously bad with managing supplies, but your men love you and will fight for you until the end.

Combat Skill (How well your character personally does in combat situations): Medium
Supply Requisition (How often you get reinforcements and supplies): Medium
Charisma (How much your men like you): Extremely High
Economic Management (How well you can manage your settlement’s economy): Low

Your Colony has been established around a silver mine. It is in concentric circles, like an onion.
1st ring- vehicle depot, fortified main barracks, fortified main hq,4 watchtowers, mortar pit, gatling trucks in vehicle depot, mine, heavy fortified trenches.
2nd ring- additional barracks, 2 farms, 1 well, 1 brick sawmill, trade depot, wood trenches,
3rd ring- new barracks, armory with foundry, light trenches
Right now you are on the border of the great ancient city which is near your encampment. You have 20 Riflemen, 10 Mercenaries, 1 Gatling truck with 5 Riflemen as guards waiting outside the city, and 10 royal british grenadiers to aid you. FOR KING AND COUNTRY

Sorry for the double post, but at the end of the last thread the last of the dynamite (excluding a couple sticks) were used to reactivate the mine, and the sawmill is processing timber so the economy is in fairly good shape. The big crisis last time was the fact that a French Steam tank had been spotted in the area, and thats why your current force is equipped with an AT rifle.

Right, but I am not much of a history buff. Do they have better equipment? I assume they are better trained/have more experience. I just want to know if there is anything other than that that differentiates them. Like, maybe the GRENADiers have grenades, by chance?

When Winston followed the Frenchies, he found that they have a mobile base supported by a steam tank. His recon unit arrived back in camp just in time for you to rout the native attackers, and you then later razed their camp with surprisingly little resistance.

The natives love guns and silver when you trade. Also, the native guides have expanded your farming enough to account for 400 people. You do have a distinct lack of bricks however.

The convoy arrives and you trade your silver shipment for 20 mercenaries and a maxim on a tripod fed by belt. You give them the wishlist.

Saving for a Male Steamtank is an idea I like. For bunkers though, should we wait until we've expanded the settlement to as big as it's going to get? I would think extreme hardpoints like bunkers should go to our fist, main line of defense. If we end up expanding more, they will get overtaken. But we could use the concrete for other things, if it is available.

    Just my 2 cents.

Okay then, Granary near the farming area for when the harvest comes in, more housing in the center. Can we move some of the barbed wire to the outer perimeter, to increase it's defense? Also, I've never played dorfcolony, so... yeah. Anyway, platten out some of the trenches in the middles, try to combine the second and central circles, build up the defense of the outermost circle.

Build shallow trenches along the outer edges, fortified with the wood. Because the natives and French most likely won't be bringing artillery, deep trenches won't be required and would be too much effort for what's actually necessary to survive. With thick wooden planks and logs, most bullets will be stopped before they even pose a threat. Think WW2 slits trenches. Ever played CoD5: World at War? Think the "Their Land, Their Blood" campaign mission.

We need to use it as simply a barrier right now, something that can be expanded later. We'll be fighting natives, we don't need real defences. And if the French show up, it should still be enough to let us survive.

And that's light fortification? Ok, well then let's add a bit more to it. Dugouts would still be extremely helpful, especially for a prolonged engagement. I still support a watch tower or two to give us some advance warning of attack.

Nope, never played CoD5. But yeah, some shallow trenches. Do we still have some sheet metal from when we first arrived? I remember you said we brought lots of it. If so, it might make for some good defenses. If the French bring their Steamtank, we just have to hold out until we can bring the AT Rifle to bear. And yeah, like someone mentioned before, lets get some watchtowers buildt on the perimeter, some advanced warning would be good. Maybe later we should try clearing more land to extend sight lines?
