    Lou Albano lay on his deathbed with his friends and relatives beside him. In the sombre atmosphere that hung over the room like a Koopa Kid, none of Lou's companions could hold back the tears. Holding the hand of his beloved, he realises his time is drawing near. A smile slowly creeps across his weakened face, he wants to leave this younger generation with what they were fond of most- he's in no condition to wrestle, but he can still do the Mario. He begins to slowly swing his arms from side to side, and when he starts to struggle, his companions quickly come to aid him. In his last breaths, he realises what he has to do, quiet whisper emits from the mouth of this gentle giant, "Swing your arms... from side to side, come on... it's time to go..." Fearing the worst, his friends continue in unison, "Do the Mario!" Now something can be heard from Lou, quieter than a whisper, barely more than a breath, "Take one step...", a quick response, "And then again", and somehow, everyone is at ease. There's not a hint of sadness in the air, and the gathering of friends and relatives becomes a circle of joy, "Let's do the Mario, all together now!"

    But in spite of this, a sharp silence falls upon the room, only to be lifted by Lou's response with a comforting, if quiet, "You got it!... It's the Mario!" He isn't aware of it, but everyone else can see it, his eyes are clouding over, he is growing short of breath, but the Captain battles on. "Do the... Mario! Swing... your... arms... from side... to side..."

    Everyone can do nothing but listen to this great man's last words as they help him slowly, soothingly, swing his arms. "Come on...", his arms simply go limp, he has finally caught on that this is it. His final show. Captain Lou Albano's got to usher in a new generation. He gasps desperately to get his last words out, strangely appropriate to both him and his adoring audience, "It's... time... to go..."

    O Captain my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
    The ship has weathered every rack, the prize we sought is won,
    The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
    While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
    But O heart! heart! heart!
    O the bleeding drops of red,
    Where on the deck my Captain lies,
    Fallen cold and dead.

    O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
    Rise up--for you the flag is flung for you the bugle trills,
    For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths for you the shores a-crowding,
    For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
    Here Captain! dear father!
    This arm beneath your head!
    It is some dream that on the deck,
    You've fallen cold and dead.

    My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
    My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
    The ship is anchored safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
    From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
    Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
    But I, with mournful tread,
    Walk the deck my Captain lies,
    Fallen cold and dead.

    I do not weep for the deaths of men. They are beyond pain, and if aware, do not wish us to suffer on their behalf. What I weep for now is more than a man. I weep for an era. I weep for a time when a man like this was a hero, when a man with principles, and a steeled heart of such auric quality as this could act as a guiding beacon to the youth.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8M8I2SYEiA

    I weep for this man. I weep for his loss, and for the fear that maybe we will forget what he represents. Never have I felt such shame for my failings as to realize that this man shaved his head, donned that ridiculous beard and hat, and got on television every goddamn week for my entertainment. And in that self-same getup, he told us the truth. That to give in to pathos, and addiction, a desire for what is pleasurable, over what is right, that is hell. That is what is worst in life. He knew. He told me. And I did not listen.
    I need a drink. But I shall not have one. Not ever again! For Lou, I pledge austerity. God rest his soul, and if he will not, then may God damn me twice as deep.

    We are gathered here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. But it should be noted that this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... human.

    >Look at it this way- now he's doing the Mario with Billy Mays and Mr. Rogers!

    WHY? WHY, MERCIFUL GOD? WHY?

    EVEN LUKAS THE TRICKSTER WEEPS, for he knows that his only worthy adversary, the only man worthy to be frozen in the last moments of battle against him for eternity is now beyond his reach forever.

    You guys are faggots. I bet you hadn't even heard of him in years let alone watched his video's, but now that he's dead you lavish attention on him?

    I wonder if he knew he would get more popularity after he dies than in the years before his death.

    Many great men are only appreciated after their death because it never occurs to us to think of a time when they won't be there.

    We all think we can just enjoy everything at any time of our choosing.

    That's not exactly true, he was popular right up until his death, just not very much so. But it is true that yesterday (or the day before), no one on /tg/ gave a shit about him, and now that he's dead suddenly everyone cares. Same bullshit about the mays dude, he did some fucking cleaning ads, who gives a shit? Only their death makes them something to talk about.

    ..THE LOUD BEARDED WARBLER WAS A GREAT MAN.

    Okay, so he was just a salesman. He didn't do any great deeds, but he had a unique personality. He stood out. He intruded into our homes hourly via the TV and screamed with absolute enthusiasm about how we had to check out this crap he had THIS week.

    He was a mere novelty.. but DAMMIT he was OUR novelty.
