We need to create a monk/warrior class out of the guard once they accept us and Hagran.

Have Hagran create a metallic golem meant for containing soul stuff. We'll use it for an experiment.

    >Your hate is noted. If it's any consolation, I probably won't get any sleep either.

You shift from the material world to the source of soul-stuff. You quickly locate the crystal. You're pretty sure that this pillar of violet flame wasn't here before, though.

    >> Anonymous 10/08/09(Thu)19:40 No.6193356

This, Hagran needs to start revealing himself to the guards. Start small again; the swords of those who display bravery stop requiring maintenence, a new recruit starts having uncanny skill, that sort of thing.

    >> Anonymous 10/08/09(Thu)19:41 No.6193373

Yeah, looks like stone or clay golems are out, and we don't have the ore to make metal ones. Put that one on the backburner, I guess.

Are there any ships at dock on the first island? We may not get air travel for a long, long time, so it would be good to know if the faith has to spread by boat to other islands.
    >> Reality !ta922ttXCI 10/08/09(Thu)19:42 No.6193375
Material metal is available in very limited amounts.

    >Right, the pornstar goddess of nature and agriculture.

    >Hm, NONE of the gods are described yet. Aside from having Hagran being vaguely nordic.
    >> Reality !ta922ttXCI 10/08/09(Thu)19:44 No.6193407
    Very well.

You have one island under control, guerilla operations on the neighboring ones. Three mages, counting Andreus. Most of the people are doing whatever they normally do or fulfill one of your projects.
    >Say, could someone make a list of those? The fortifications, the monastery, crossbows, et cetera. I gotta keep up with the thread, so I can't do it myself.
    >> Anonymous 10/08/09(Thu)19:45 No.6193418
So, what other gods are we currently looking a having in the eventual pantatheon? Off the top of my head, the ones that have been discussed are:

    Hagran: Skill, bravery.
    Hagran's Wife: Fertility, healing, nature
    Androgynous Twins: Life and death
    Daughter: Secrets
    Otto: Trickery, Water, Righteousness

We, Hyperion have no form as of yet, we are malleable. A living concept.

Hephaestus/Hagran is a buff viking with bulging muscles and always half naked for some reason. His laughter is thunder and his eyes are burning coal. He is awesome.

Shyla is the typical playmate paragon, big ass, big tits, long blond hair, blue eyes which sparkle with life, a mere brush of her hand heals all sickness. She's nice.

Constructing rudimentary wooden defenses around the villages.
Constructing a monastery near the center of the island, in some kind of defensible position. On a hill, within a ring of rocks, or something.

Hagran arose from Talos having more practical concerns than knowledge for its own sake - crafting and such.

I'd imagine this means Hagran is rather straightforward, and while he loves knowledge as we do, he has a particular fondness for knowledge that has a practical application - making things, doing things, getting results. So, earthy and uncomplicated, taking pride in a job done well and carried out with skill.

Shyla is like a nurturing figure - her ample bosom isn't necessarily that of a buxom and saucy wench, but a mother who provides well for her children. That doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy getting it on with Hagran, just that she's less wanton porn starlet and more divine MILF.

We are building fortifications, yes? I fail to see how that's wise. Once the masters or their more faithful servants spot them they will immediately realize that our island is the heart of the cult and exterminate our followers.

A monastery? Windmills? This is great and all but it's also very, very suspicious. We need to know how society works on these islands. In the beginning, we found Plato and we saw how the Masters cult is oppressing the locals and force them to pay tribute. I don't think they want the plebs to do ANYTHING without their OK. Honestly, I doubt they will let them do anything that isn't their idea in the first place.

And finally a note on our increasing armory.
Weapons and armor are good and all, and I realize how dangerous the masters are, BUT we should train our soldiers extensively in non-lethal combat. Grappling, disarming and disabling. If we can defeat our foes without killing or injuring them I think they will be much more willing to understand that we as a deity wish no harm, only to make their lives better and more fulfilling.

From our interactions with the Masters, they made it plain that since we are not going to bow down and obey them, they will not tolerate our existence, nor our influence upon the human population.

As such, I am expecting they would have no qualms about using their human pawns to wage total war upon our little island. We're fighting at a disadvantage as it is, without hampering ourselves further with non-lethal combat.

Wouldn't it be cool if things were added as the collective knowledge of our faithful grew?

Say Andreus dissects a fish...now there's a whole new wing on the physical structure of the fish, as well as the fish itself, in an ocean.

In short, a paladin, without the judgmental crusading stuff. A sheepdog to defend against the wolves. A quiet guard who and derives his happiness and sense of self from shepherding his people, willing to lay his life down for them even if they never know about it. that's a good idea. let's invent our own drum language. I'd like to see them try to decipher that!

Actually, we could hide in plain sight with this. Think about it, we have our followers host (if there's not one already) regular weekend festivites in all the villages with food and music. Except the music is used to communicate news, plans and ideas. This is a LOT less suspicious than gathering for prayer and trying to hide.
I can imagine this will help our future followers on other islands while we still maintain a low profile as a hidden cult, since the true intentions will likely never be known and will not put them at risk.

It does not belong here, it is an aberration, an abomination, an affront to the way this reality works; it does not, cannot possibly exist here naturally, operating under entirely different laws, entirely different principles, all of which are absolutely incompatible with the way this universe operates. The only way it can survive, the only way it can continue to exist is to return whence it came, where it belongs and is in accordance with its surroundings.

If it cannot go back, if it cannot depart, then the sheer crushing weight of this reality must surely destroy it; it is but one entity, one creature, not even very strong, against an entire cosmos.

Seal it off as securely as possible, and put it somewhere far, far away from our realm and the material world.

Well, at least now we have something serious to protect our people from, right?

Aside from the Masters, I mean.

Man, those Art-users are gonna get the kicking of a lifetime. Idiots.
    >> Blackheart 10/08/09(Thu)21:43 No.6194978
And show this to everyone down on the Material Plane, anyone who has sanity should join us now.
    >> Anonymous 10/08/09(Thu)21:43 No.6194980
I do believe we should show the summoners what they just did. Replay Nyarlothep's conversation with you and then the creation of the abyss.

and the demons. show them the demons.

You can't find a way to communicate with it. Unless you count bombarding it with one-way transmissions.

    >Sorry for forcing this on you like that, but we need some source of conflict.
    >> Blackheart 10/08/09(Thu)21:45 No.6194997
So, your definition of conflict is infinite demons?

    *adjusts belt*

Very well son, eh, we'll play your game.

We need to train some magic users to be anti-these fellas. Also "Paladin" god, Firey glass golems & linnorms. And of course the whole reinforcement deal. Maybe even cutting off his part of the realm if possible?
    >> Anonymous 10/08/09(Thu)21:46 No.6195004
Can we have the summoners... re-summon this thing? If we can trap it in the material plane it'll become killable, right?
    >> Reality !ta922ttXCI 10/08/09(Thu)21:46 No.6195010

Well, there's at least one good thing that's come from all of this. You managed to contact the whole population in the area and convince it to your cause. Frankly, after showing them the demons, they didn't need much convincing.

    Reality, before bedtime, this: >>6194912
Is it possible for us to create our own version of this thing, one built on different valued but fundamentally the same, one that we can control and so combat these demons?
    >> Reality !ta922ttXCI 10/08/09(Thu)21:48 No.6195029
    >Devils are finite and yet they hold their own against the demons just fine in the canon. Besides, gotta have SOME evil as the Masters are falling out of the picture. And infinite demons is, well, canon. So I went with that.
    >> Anonymous 10/08/09(Thu)21:48 No.6195032
The high mage and everything? Nice.
Check out how he communicated with the Aboleths.

    Please no fucking angels.
    They're annoying enough in Planescape.
Let's just go with the Golems & Linnorms or [insert better servants here]

You are fairly sure that Y'Chak influenced this process a lot. And the things HE pulls off, you have no hopes of understanding.

    >> Blackheart 10/08/09(Thu)21:52 No.6195061
Didn't I say it? Where we're going, we won't need eyes to see...

    Neutronium Golems!!!

Anyway people, bed time. Its been a pleasure. We're going to die.
    >> Anonymous 10/08/09(Thu)21:52 No.6195065

Folks are gonna be scarred for life, looking at horrors like that.

Can we do a dream broadcast? Because I think it's within our remit as Protector to help these people with the nightmares that will inevitably ensue. If we can detect when they're having dreams of demons and horror, nudge them in a more hopeful direction - Impressions of unassailable walls holding the demons at bay, warriors of righteousness with shining spears and shields of adamant, the righteousness of faith in their hearts blazing like the sun.

Overall message: Yeah, the demons are bad, but we'll protect against them - and teach the people how to protect themselves.
