    >part 3: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/6175335/
    You assess the situation.
The Masters turned out to be aggresive and unwilling to cooperate, seeking to either enslave others or destroy them. You managed to goad them into chasing you and following false trails. They will most probably interrogate the people of other islands in their search for you. Should they show the same attitude that you witnessed, nearly all humans will be quickly set against them.
However, you need to act quickly. Your primary goal is now converting both Zhuang and Ligish to your cause, before they are called away by the Masters to search other islands.
As for the villages, everything's going well. You are supplying your followers with minor blessings whenever they are needed. Talos, aided by Hagran, has crafted many weapons of stone, wood and bone, as well as shields and leather armor. Plato has been developing means of communication between the villages, the most successful of which turned out to be trained messenger birds.
You are confident that your followers could seize control of the island, should they have three wielders of the Art on their side. Even if Ligish and Zhuang depart, the odds are still high. However, such drastic measures might turn out to be unnecessary. Converting the captain of the guard will give you control without any bloodshed. Achieving that seems to be a very real possibility.
    >> Anonymous 10/08/09(Thu)16:47 No.6191005
Definitely pursue a conversion of the guards, hardened fighters plus trainers for the more militia style people.
    >> Reality !ta922ttXCI 10/08/09(Thu)16:49 No.6191025
    >>6191005
Converting the Art wielders should be a higher priority, though. With their authority on your side, the guards will be easily convinced.

    >>6191025
Im sorry for not specifying, converting the guards should not be the only or even primary concern at this moment, just that it is a very good idea. I was assuming multiple actions at the same time.
    >> Anonymous 10/08/09(Thu)16:53 No.6191088
    Fuck yeah deity quest!

I vote get a more large-scale conversion going so when it happens it's basically a unstoppable landslide, if you know what I mean?

We could get a few islands on our side, but what's to say they don't have superior forces around to just squat our rebellion before it even really began?

Also, we're not per se the god of war. Better bloodless coercion than bloodshed.

Finally, we need to get around creating a wife for Hagran. She'd be the Goddess of Fertility, Healing and Nature.

Or am I just a faggot?

    >>6191025
Yes, continue getting Zhuang and Ligish over on our side. There were two more guys right? Maybe see how susceptible the less powerful of them would be? Or is that a bad idea?

    >As per the post in the last thread.
For some time now you have been performing small miracles for both of the Art wielders. You help them find misplaced items and remember things that slipped their minds. Eventually, they notice that something odd is happening. Zhuang mentions it in a talk with Andreus. "Say, did you... how to say it... use the Art to help me out during the past few days? Someone did, that much I'm sure of." How should Andreus react?

The less powerful one, Galen, is an apprentice to the other. It would be hard to influence him without his teacher noticing it.

Deciding that it is time to take action, you have Plato and Talos send missionaries to other villages.

For a start, Andreus tells Zhuang that it's not his doing. He then references a conversation they were having some time ago, the one about beings other than humans and the Masters' servants existing, vaguely suggesting that this could be the source of this activity. Zhuang gives this hypothesis some thought. "Well, there'd be no reason for a servant of the Masters to hide. So I guess that's the only possibility. I wonder why it does that, though..."

"Perhaps you should try asking it?"
Andreus mentally apologizes for speaking of you in such an undignified way, but it's the safest route to converting Zhuang.
"Wouldn't hurt, I guess. Who are you? Why are you helping me in such a manner?"
Zhuang falls silent, expecting some sort of answer. You now have an opportunity to make contact with him.

Reality, please update me on the Soul/Consciousness generator thing, did we find out more about its functions, capability?

A question: I vaguely remember that it was stated that soulstuff strengthens being that are imbued with it. Is there an upper limit to it or can we exalt living creatures, or is this the basic way we imbue our followers?

What happens if we pour soulstuff into a dead body? As in massive quantities.

    >soulstuff
This is a primary method of healing, though you suspect imbuing a living creature with too much soul-stuff would end up badly. The source was a white void, not a paradise filled with life, after all.

    >imbuing dead bodies
If you also returned the soul to it, it could quite possibly result in raising the dead. You have concerns that such a process might damage the soul in a subtler way, though.
    >As in, no infinite resurrections.

As an aside, considering the situation: the users of the Art who serve the Masters haven't had direct contact with these unpleasant creatures, instead receiving their instructions and gathering tribute to leave on the shoreline.

I'd be interested to know what need the Masters have for tributes of food.

Also, given that the Masters are pretty freaky mind-reading fish-things that live in the lightless depths, I would imagine that setting ourselves up as Patron God of Humans to resist the Horrible Slimy Enemy In The Deep would work pretty well for us.

I'd like to veto this approach.

While we don't want to appear as an oppressive tyrant-god, we need the belief and loyalty of human followers to increase our power and influence.

I would suggest that Hagran/Haphaestus' wife should complement his own portfolio and dual nature as warrior/wright. Something like one aspect as goddess of agriculture and farming and the arts of making things grow bountifully to complement Haphaestus the smith (the knowledge to grow crops and the tools to harvest them), and another aspect as goddess of healing, midwifery and nurturing to complement Hagran the warrior (tending the wounds of the warriors, bringing new life into the world).

It is commonly believed that the captain of the guard is appointed by the Masters themselves, whose decision is relayed by their servants and the Art wielders.
Reality is more complicated, as the Masters probably don't bother with every single island in such detail, and the mages most probably have their own agenda in occasionally "misinterpreting" their will.

The guards are chosen FOR their loyalty to the masters, not the other way around. Or, to put it another way, high susceptibility to brainwashing. The ones drawn from the local population tend to socialize, while the ones from abroad remain distant.
    >> Blackheart 10/08/09(Thu)17:48 No.6191789
Also, I vaguely remember that some of the Art users are sent out to hunt/convert rogue would-be sorcerer kings. Lets say we send one of our future (or not so future) Art users out to do battle, but instead of DEATH OR MASTERS, we go Knowledge and prosperity or mindwash.

Also, while we are a semi-light side force, we should learn some mind control / domination. Should we be unable to make them see reason.

Some of us have long talked about a pantheon of gods. It might bring trouble, but the sheer awesomeness would be well worth it. That lies in the future however, but it's a gradual process and we need to start somewhere.
More gods of different aspects bring higher likelyhood of differently natured people appealing to one of them, which gives us power.
We've been talking about another god for long now, it's as good a time as any.

I am curious as to whether Master brainwashing is a one-time "imprint" whereby the guards are brainwashed and sent to fulfil their programming, or if it's more like the Masters maintaining an ongoing link or presence or influence over the guards.

Basically, if there's any way to either reverse the imprinting, or block the Masters' influence.

How much Cool Stuff can users of the Art do? Like, can we have examples of what the Art-users do around the place, and how far their powers extend?

My main concern is that humanity is scattered across an archipelago of islands - that is, pockets of land that is Our Turf separated swathes of Their Turf, which could prove deeply problematic if it comes to all-out war between Humans and Masters, as they can potentially divide-and-conquer any nascent human empire with ease, granting safe passage to their human minions while sinking our boats.

My point is: can the Art give us a means of transport between islands that avoids the water?

I'd definitely propose doing what we can to get a monopoly on users of the Art, if at all possible. Either by converting those sympathetic to us (which should be all of them, given that we're all about protection and benevolence and knowledge and yaaay humans), or by stomping those who won't convert, as there are always a few who'd side with monstrosities of the deep if they thought it'd get them a bigger piece of the pie. Art-users are the Masters' most useful tool on the surface.

We could try a Bondsmage kind of approach - get one mage, boost his power so he can convert another. Two mages gang up on a third mage, who joins or perishes. Three mages gang up on the fourth, who likewise joins or perishes, and so on and so forth. Move fast enough and the other mages won't have time to unite or coordinate, and we could clean up on the Art front.

Or are we not being quite that ruthless just yet?

It doesn't need to be outright mage-duels, I guess - maybe peer-pressure would work just as well.

C: both concentrate in turning all the local mages then refer to A and B.

I say we take this island now, while the guards are away - either by converting the remaining guards, or overpowering them if need be.

Given that lots of guards are on the move, there's a risk that they'll all come piling on our heads once we move to open rebellion, so inciting trouble on the other islands should help to keep them occupied.

So, on this island our target becomes the captain of the guard. Do Ligish and Zhuang have any ideas of how to bring him on-side? Peacefully, if possible.

Since we are capable of creating familiars I suggest we create seagulls for scouting the other islands and rats or other small animal for espionage. We should especially spy on Tymon or at the very least search his room.
