Turn out some Jericho Super Heavy drones (10) and 200 Missles for them.

And before we do that, have S70 check the scanners themselve.
    >> Anonymous 09/15/09(Tue)01:15 No.5866234
Also, let's stop suggesting ideas to drive our 'guest' crazy, really there's no reason for it.
    >> Anonymous 09/15/09(Tue)01:15 No.5866238
We should determine how to allocate the fusion batteries. Presumably, we'd want them in Colossus drones only, unless a base takes more than 1000 fuel/day. To maximize their effect, we'll want those Colossus to be copters.

I'd like 3 as dedicated carriers, 3 as dedicated weapons platforms, 3 as a hybrid of the two, and 6 of them harvesters above the mothership.

Really? She's quite useful to us.

Uni-Peace is still on-planet, you know. They also have tech we don't. (Or at least, that was the case before.) And if we hadn't traded everyone we captured away before examination, we'd have some scientists too, presumably. Luckily, based on the combat reports we mostly captured soldiers. The civilian personnel fled and weren't captured. We'll get them and their secrets later. She can give us info, be propoganda or a bargaining chip, and if we break her enough she may even become a double agent.

Plasma specifically said that what we destroyed was only Uni-Peace's advance base. That means they still have a strong presence on this planet. Which means we want to know everything about them and their history here, particularly where their main base is.

I think we're good with constructors for now.

My build order for the Colossi (all fusion powered, double shielded, with helicopter transportation mode):

2 Transports, VTOL light/medium/heavy drones with lasers (and a mix of other weaponry, but lasers as primary) that use the transport's battery for fuel.

3 Combat, with armaments as detailed by a couple people in the last thread

2 Combat-Haulers with 2+ (as many as can fit) Super Freeman guns, a heat beam, and lasers for at least 3 slots

6 Harvesters (by this time they should be developed)

    2 Combat-Transport (detailed later once it's developed)

Mars was colonized shortly after man went into space. The planet was never truly terraformed - even today, it's nothing more than a rocky, lifeless wasteland covered with millions of facilities. The hard life bred hard people who lived honest, difficult lives.
In the first encounters with the Kil'thweq, Mars was considered a target and it suffered during the first few attacks - but then it recovered and it gathered its people for a counterattack. The forces of Mars alone were more than enough to force the Kil'thweq to sign a peace treaty.
But the Martians found that their new military strength was incredible - absolutely massive. They were strong. Why shouldn't the strong rule?
Eventually, the Martians lost the following war after several years and they have long gotten over their defeat, happy with being the ruling planet of the Solar System.
However, some of them don't like their new position. Some of them still wish to be the mighty, superhuman rulers of the galaxy. These individuals are hunted down by the Martian government wherever they go and are often forced into hiding, to conduct their plans in secret.

If the distance is 50m, it means that all kinetic projectiles are blocked 50m from the shielded target.
    If it's 500m, then 500m instead.

Kinetics shot from the inside can't go outside, kinetics shot from the outside can't go inside.

Increased area shields are only useful against artillery and missles but allow you to use your weapons against close units.
Shortened area shields basically make all kinetic weaponry useless - but you can only use energy, thermal and gas weapons.

Then we'll go with short range double shields on our carriers. They won't have any weapons besides energy anyways (some lasers and maybe a heat for self defense if there's space, if not oh well).

It stuck me that the transport-combat is probably the best bet for the airborne attack colossi. It makes maximum use of the fusion battery by refuelling its own drones, but also has self-defense and heavy strike capabilities of its own. It can arrive at an engagement as complete strike force, unlike the other two. Although... a battleship that has a carrier in reserve supplying smaller drones may be better off, if we deploy them in pairs.

    OPINION:

No matter how mighty we make our military, we need a final escape plan in case this planet is lost.

For that, I propose we first get a space ship designed and built. And then on one of the moons, we construct a base where we can fall back to if needed.

Once that's ready, we need an ARK that we can use for a mass exodus of ourselves: the contractors/70/possibly Joanna, as well as some minerals we can use as currency and some tech.

TradeStar is a very big player. Whenever anyone buys any raw materials, usually TradeStar has something to do with it. Industrial equipment? TradeStar. While every other company specializes, TradeStar's all about efficiency and in the end, because it owns the primary resources everyone else runs their businesses off of... Well, TradeStar has a lot of grip over other corporations and even over governments. It owns 21 planets and has a branch in every civilized world. It is pretty damn huge and if you want to take all of TradeStar out for good, you're pretty much tearing apart the galactic economy.
As for the size... Well, hundreds of systems are inhabited, thousands of planets have been terraformed (LP's attempts are simply trying to improve on the already existing terraforming model) and generally, it's a pretty varied galaxy with countless places to explore.

"There's a location inside the city of Gurruk, sir. They called it the lair of the old ones, the cave of the father, the ancestor-cavern, all sorts of names. I saw it once but I wasn't allowed anywhere near it, unfortunately, let alone inside of it. They're all going crazy these days - screaming about how an apocalypse is coming, how a black tide is covering the land and how the evil ones are coming from the heavens to revel in the dark water. They have all sorts of legends."

    Oh shit.

Tell Joanna that the monkeys are artificial and probably made by the nanites. If she doesn't believe it, ask her what the monkey have asked for help in doing.

I know this won't happen in this update, but relay this info to AlphaRange and Lemmington.

Afterwards, shoot at it with EVERYTHING we have. And I mean EVERYTHING.

When we are finished with this start mass-producing the kind of missile S70 thinks well be most effective against our enemy and launch them at the position until we have glassed it completely.

We've got to wait until we've got a better understanding of the situation and a means to escape.

First we need to take out the Martians and get their space ships. FTL we need.
    >> Anonymous 09/15/09(Tue)05:14 No.5868394
Also, in case we haven't, tell Alpha our idea for merging into one contracting company if the need arises.

You have to make this complicated, don't you?

"No - I find it difficult to believe that they were created by a virus. A virus exists to consume, not to create. A virus only infests that which already exists. If they were made by anything, they were made by the opposition you speak of.

"As for the iron seal - it's hidden in the darkest, deepest parts of the cave, beyond the chamber of sarcophagi, beyond the court of cold where the Father resides. That's the myth, at least."

    Hrmm.

Plasma, are you going to advance any days? Or is just going to be RPing the interactions for this one day?
    >> Plasma !UHUuLXLjhk 09/15/09(Tue)05:28 No.5868490
This is just social interaction. There's no mechanics, no advancing of days at the moments. Just adding more and more posts to the thread.
    >> Anonymous 09/15/09(Tue)05:31 No.5868513
    Ok.

Then what's the Alpha contractor's reaction to us possibly banding together permanently to get out of this?

They like the sound of it.
They want a name for the resulting firm, though.

Well that's more of a group decision.

I'd suggest something low key though.

By the way, I ran the math and whoever did the carrier drone estimates dropped a 10--that number of drones only comes up to 100 tons, a mere 1/10 of the carrier capacity. Those numbers should all be multiplied by 10 to make 1000 tons.

Then change the order so that all those are built. That's a lot of drones; we can probably stand to convert most of our ground forces that are suitable.
