In the previous thread, you were discussing the threat of the ecoterrorists of Uni-Peace, ironically.

Feel free to continue your discussion in this thread. As soon as you agree on a selection of what you want to build in your facilities and with your construction drones, it will be Day 6, Month 2.

Thoughts: We have 70's old body right? Can we analyse it and try to make our own version of their super agile death squids?

Also, I've been thinking: Maybe we should synthesize some droids to act as leaders to others (a leader harvester, Sampler, etc.) or at least synthesize some of our soldiers so they can have better reactions when fighting.

Responding to posts from the last thread:
    >>5805943
No, you don't have the old body.
Also, if you give your drones more advanced artificial intelligence than they already have, they will reach sentience and have the potential to betray you. If you're willing to risk that for more advanced drones, go ahead.

We do not have 70's old body. We only bought his core. And I would really rather not put any sapients on our front lines if we can help it, efficiency bonuses or not.

If I understand our objective correctly, we have to deliver 600,000 tons of ore in 6 months in order to be deemed successful, right?

So, does ore we use to buy tech etc. count towards this goal?
    >> Anonymous 09/10/09(Thu)17:49 No.5806038
70's a military general isn't he? Ask him for his opinions on the Uni-Peace problem. Tell him all about it, then ask what he thinks what we should do.

And some laser/flame thrower wielding death squids would be nice.

No - also, you do not need to deliver the ore in these six months - it can be any period of six months in a time period of five years.
Also, you need to donate the ore in exchange for nothing.

Alright, how does this sound -
Superheavy artillery at the rear, armed with all sorts of munitions.
Superheavy combats, armed to defend the artillery
Medium and lights, armed with lasers, flamers and stunners, mixing it up near the front.
Slaver things to pick up stunned biologicals.
    >> Subcontractor_Curris !!/jtFi67TPsp 09/10/09(Thu)17:52 No.5806082
The only sentience I want on the front line is General Samson (Comrade 70), and only then in a defended position. It's his area of expertise, he can make it work better. Central control is better for fast effective reactions, rather than hierarchies of command.
    >> Anonymous 09/10/09(Thu)17:53 No.5806090
    >>5806040
damn. Well, I support swam tactics covered by artillery strikes then. Uni-Peace appears to have bolt-explosives, and have explosive arrows, so they will probably attack with volleys.

    >>5806078
That sounds fine to me. Throw in a few superheavy ammo haulers for the artillery, and we're good.

we have lightning guns and gravity guns in research right?

The wouldn't have to be sentient to be able to increase the efficiency of bots, would they?
Imagine a dedicated 'command' bot assigned to a squad - relaying enemy locations, coordinating fire, freeing up brainspace to allow for more accurate fire and faster reactions, etc.

Would 70/Samson have to be near the fighting to have control? I think having the single commander of our army in the safest place possible is a better idea, as long as he is able to efficiently control the drones.

Uni-Peace is a collation of races. We have no idea what kind of tech they have besides explosive arrows. As far as we know, they could try and drench us in bioweapons. I think we should try and get as large as an edge as we can over them.
    >> Subcontractor Ayebohr 09/10/09(Thu)18:02 No.5806218

Coalition of races =/= Coalition of tech. So far we haven't been dealing with races so much as corporations, and one race.

I don't think they have a wide variety of weapons. Mostly because they haven't been trying to push us, (disregarding what just happened) which seems to tell us that they can't push us because I can't think of any other reason why the wouldn't given how little they like us. (unless they're totally Tsundere for us)

"By the Maker, I was getting tired of listening to you biologicals bicker. Thank you.
"In any case, they're obviously highly mobile. For main combat, I would suggest against heavy drones - your opponents will just dance circles around them. You're probably going to have to rely on fast, light drones for this - some armed with lasers, some with flamethrowers. Guard your artillery with heavy drones and give your artillery thermobaric and napalm.
"They should have lines of tunnels that they'll pop out of - once you get too close, they'll probably retreat to the second line of tunnels. Once you're at the second line, the third line. They'll also use the tunnels to surround you.
"So, my advice is that before you engage them, you shell the first line with thermobaric and approach it before it's reinforced and try to get as clos as you can before reinforcements arrive. Then you napalm the second line, so they can't retreat to it. Your lasers will take out the surfacers, while your flamers will need to go underground and smoke out the ones waiting to ambush you.
"The third line will be waiting for your drones to come through the napalm - so you shell them with thermobaric, to wipe them out, get in close range with your laser drones and napalm the fourth line, etc, etc - you get the picture. After a couple of times, this should demoralize them enough to force them into retreat.
"It's ever so slow, but you've got to be thorough. You can't let any pockets survive."

Gentlemen, I think we need to be careful about our front with 137.

Also, ask Sampson 70 about the feasibility of his plan using stun shells instead of napalm/thermobaric. If we can capture ~50% of our enemy force, we should be able to recoup our recent drone losses handily.

Then begin the backup process. Make sure we're building light drones first, and have at least 10 patrolling any active place other than a mine/gas center that needs guarding.

Oh, I forgot about VTOL for a moment. Thank you.

VTOL is flight technology you can buy from our good friends at TradeStar.

Repulsors are fairly slow and they only work for light objects - either made of plastic or light and medium metal drones - but really, it allows for truly elegant movement. If you want to stop, you stop. Your control over your movement is absolute. Also completely silent.
'copter technology is pretty much the opposite. In order for it to be efficient enough to function proper, the drone must be big - heavy or larger. It's fast, loud and gets you where you want to go - but it's difficult to control. Don't expect to win a dogfight.
VTOL - somewhere in the middle.

1 deposit with approximately 1500 tons of heavy metal.

You find it. Entropic code is fully integrated in the mobility algorithms. Within three days, the body's mobility would deteriorate and fail completely, leaving the 'bot unable to move.
The code is also designed to locate any similar code throughout any network it's connected to, and replace that code with its own entropic code.
Three days after you would've placed it online, all of your drones would've been rendered immobile and useless.

    I laughed.

I don't suppose there's any chance that we'd be able to get some of your fellow combat synths to turn to our side instead of fighting us? We don't really want to kill them. Hell, we wouldn't be attacking at all if Prospector 137 wasn't such an obviously backstabbing bastard.

"Worthless. A laser would slice through the plastic shell almost immediately, except in the case of the Astronautili - then it would come in useful."

How does a wall of fire in any way constrict the movements of something that can move in three dimensions? They just fly up and over it, if they're intent on being on the ground, they fly back down to it after they're past it.

Anyway, ask Samson if he thinks 137 will attack. And if so, what he believes will be the best way to counter him. Also ask him what we should do about finding him a body.

"How many of your comrades would turn on 137 if we offered them employment and fair treatment? Ideally, at a well-timed moment of battle."

"You produced enough close quarters units for now - create artillery. Lots of it. As for a body, I don't care - if I can't go in that powered armour like you say, anything will do."

"It would require maximum morale damage - and even then, only half of them."

Alright, get him suited up with a full laser and flamer SHC. He should be able to make optimal use of the lasers. Is there any way we can link it up so that he can transfer from one SHC to another in case one is about to be destroyed?

We need to be careful with networks if 137 is using viruses.

SH Artillery is build time. I want another 50 with HE/Thermobaric/Thermobaric/Flamethrower/Flamethrower setup.

And if we don't have enough haulers, build those too.

We could ask Lemmington about it. I bet they've got awesome superdogs. Whose bites can spread Hyper-Cancer (TM).
