You can easily find a torrent of all world of darkness books using the popular torrent search engines. E.G. Isohunt.com. The one i have is a 22.6GB torrent.

Its not difficult to pick up actually...if you can run a werewolf game, you already have the narrative and imaginative aspects down to come up with plots, etc.

You just need to replace tribes with their vampire counterparts, etc.

Instead of fighting the wyrm, vampire games mostly focus on politics and camarilla-sabbat conflicts. Dark ages is a lot simpler in that regard since you dont have the sect division.

    Like Pepsi.

Sure, if you had a board about carbonated beverages, about 50% of the posts are going to be about Pepsi, but the rest of the world is going to be talking and drinking all kinds of other stuff.

I'd be interested in playing a game in IRC or something, but I don't know how to work IRC and most of my character designs are automatically rejected -- not on the basis that they're faggish or Mary Sue-ish or stereotypes, but simply because the character "doesn't fit in with the setting." What the fuck is that supposed to mean? I just wrote a whole history explaining why it fits in with the setting you stupid bitch!

Enough to say I have a problem with a lot of GMs, STs, and other fascist game-controllers.

PBP GAMES DIE. THEY ALWAYS DIE. PEOPLE DROP OUT, THE DM LOSES INTEREST, THEY MOVE TOO SLOW, AND THEY'RE IRREPARABLY BORING BY DEFINITION.

PEOPLE LIKE TO MAKE CHARACTERS FOR THEM, BUT NO ONE STICKS AROUND FOR LONGER THAN TWO WEEKS.

    DOOMED TO FAIL.

I tried a Malkavian who has a semi-split personality that urges him to kill people whenever he's able to get away with it, but tried to make up for it by helping people and trying to be an at least decent guy despite the whole serial killing thing (and this is aside from the usual bloodthirst).
Then I tried a Tremere with a personality like stone whose usual response to his coterie's PC antics was lowering his reading glasses and a glare, but stuck around because he liked to study people almost as much as... well, whatever the fuck it is they do in those chantries. He sounds boring, but that's kind of the point -- I thought the first character was rejected for standing out too much, and wanted something noncommital to shape later.
Then I made a Lasombra who simply enjoyed being a vampire -- killing people and getting more powerful and all that shit. Still no, but I guess that was reasonable since I found out it wasn't a Sabbat game anyway.

I'm beginning to think people just don't want to play with me, or else all characters MUST be angst-ridden self-inserts.

Sounds like the STs either were clueless, since they could easily give you suggestions on how to make the character work in their game, just suck, or a combination of fail.

I'd have rejected the Malkavian myself, but that's just because if there's a clan every ST has a personal take on that's the one, and as a derangement that strikes me as a little mild yet potentially plot-disruptive. The other two seemed pretty solid.

Tremere study occult things. Vampirism is popular. Last one I played was 10th gen but couldn't Embrace, and had Grip of the Damned (his feeding is intensely painful, not pleasant), but with Efficient Digestion and Prophecy. His field of study was more or less "What the shit is wrong with me?".
