But the solution's simple. To reduce the spider pop, remove food sources from house. Rather than, you know, evolving to eat humans and housepets in a generation, they'll start hunting elsewhere.

    I hope.

Swedeb is usually blessed with the absence of creepy creatures, but we get Gadflies:

"The bite from a larger specimen is extremely painful, especially considering the light, agile, and airborne nature of the fly. Unlike insects which surreptitiously puncture the skin with needle-like organs, horse flies have mandibles like tiny serrated scimitars, which they use to rip and/or slice flesh apart. This causes the blood to seep out as the horsefly licks it up. They may even carve a chunk completely out of the victim, to be digested at leisure."

I actually got bitten by one, it feels totally different from a sting. It litterally took a piece of flesh from my neck and tore it off.

Mosquitos are not dangerous in Sweden, just annoying. They come in huge swarms though, with a very creepy sound.

For me, ticks are much more creepy, I constantly check every inch of my body for them after spending time in tall grass areas.

    >In terms of scale, the wasp's sting is rated at the top of the Schmidt Sting Pain Index, second only to that of the bullet ant and is described by Schmidt as "Blinding, fierce [and] shockingly electric.".

Someone reference the Schmidt sting index?

I'm curious how the Bald-faced hornet sting feels. "Rich, hearty, slightly crunchy. Similar to getting your hand mashed in a revolving door.

As I was reading through this thread, my cat smacked my bare foot with her paw. In utter shock, I jumped out of my seat and smashed my knees on the bottom of the desk. Because of the pain, my legs reflexively withdrew, while I was leaping out of the seat at the same time. The back of my legs knocked the chair out from under me, and so I fell back onto nothing. As I was tumbling backwards, I reflexively grabbed the drapes to the window directly to my right, but the curtain rod would not hold up a fully grown man. The now-free curtain rod swung behind me, smashing into my warhammer fantasy goblin army, many of which are huge blocks of spearmen. They fell to the floor, several landing spear tips up, and my slow and awkward tumble finally met the floor and the spearmen. I have several holes in my back now, a unit and a half of goblin spearmen have been crushed, my curtain rod has been bent and wont fit back in the holding properly, I snapped a leg on my old wooden chair, and my kneecaps are throbbing.

    The cat is fine.

    Fuck you both, OP.

You're not a real man until you've worn a glove of angry bullet ants. UP TO TWENTY TIMES.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paraponera

"The Satere-Mawe people of Brazil use intentional bullet ant stings as part of their initiation rites to become a warrior. The ants are first rendered unconscious by submerging them in a natural chloroform, and then hundreds of them are woven into a glove made out of leaves (which resembles a large oven mitt), stinger facing inward. When the ants regain consciousness, a boy slips the glove onto his hand. The goal of this initiation rite is to keep the glove on for a full ten minutes. When finished, the boy's hand and part of his arm are temporarily paralyzed because of the ant venom, and he may shake uncontrollably for days. The only "protection" provided is a coating of charcoal on the hands, supposedly to confuse the ants and inhibit their stinging. To fully complete the initiation, however, the boys must go through the ordeal a total of 20 times over the course of several months or even years."
