Feels good to have my net working again

I'll cut right to the chase: New Imps are now here, but I have several ideas for larger single models (Kholek Suneater, the king of trolls, Valkia, Mortarion, Lorgar, Archaon, Lion...)

    There can only be one.
    Help me pick a project

    Roboute Guilliman

Also, you got a decent way of making greatcoats and/or gasmaks for Guardsmen? Amusingly not for a Krieg army, but instead for a World War 2 Romanian theme.

    >> Anonymous 05/10/09(Sun)13:59 No.4518235
Yeah, that was what I was mainly thinking of using. Simply due to ease. But do Pig Iron heads fit on well enough?

Cadian officer + Baneblade gunner head makes a good greatcoat+Gasmask
If you want longer coats, I'd suggest using Necromunda Delaques and the Baneblade gunner head or simply sculpting the gasmasks

I'm pretty sure Rowboat Girlyman would look pretty much like Calgar...
    >> Anonymous 05/10/09(Sun)14:09 No.4518282

    He's still awesome, though.

Also, that doesn't make mass production easy. Hmm. Maybe grab pig iron heads, cut off the stocks of the lasguns and make quasi-Steel Legion.
    >> Anonymous 05/10/09(Sun)14:11 No.4518294

Coolies. Now I just need to buy a baneblade for every one of my 120 guardsmen.

Either that or mould one I guess >_>
    >> Anonymous 05/10/09(Sun)14:18 No.4518352
i suggest you play a baneblade heavy list after that.
    >> Scriptarius 05/10/09(Sun)14:19 No.4518355
Moulding, it makes mass production easier.

Regarding rowboat, I really don't have much of a vision of him. Calgar with more roman all over him?
    >> Anonymous 05/10/09(Sun)14:21 No.4518383
Perfect fit, actually. I've got a few packs myself and they're nicely scaled for Guardsmen.

Can I make Ork heads work on Marine and Term. armor? Or are they too big?
    >> Scriptarius 05/10/09(Sun)14:33 No.4518479
    That's a good idea!
I was going to just pose Imps and marines on the base, then spread nurglings over them
    Marines, no way
Termies, with a bit of work
Termies actually make fairly OK 'eavy/mega armour if you enhance it a bit with orky parts
    >> Anonymous 05/10/09(Sun)14:36 No.4518494
No chance at all with marine armor, then? Are they simply too big?
    >> Scriptarius 05/10/09(Sun)14:42 No.4518524
Pretty much yeah. You can give an Ork some marine pauldrons or kneepads or stuff but an ork head on a marine body just looks wrong.

Do GW Baneblade and Leman Russ share the same size of turret ring? if so, putting a baneblade turret on a leman russ is the easiest way to make a Vanquisher?
    >> Anonymous 05/10/09(Sun)15:00 No.4518635
That sounds expensive and wasteful. Unless you have an extra baneblade turret just floating around...but why would you?
    >> Scriptarius 05/10/09(Sun)15:07 No.4518682
The Baneblade turret ring is around twice as big, wouldn't work.

Im looking to convert some Sisters Repentia into Psykers...I dont have any experience converting metal models though. I basically want to reposition some of their arms to the 'held outward typical psyker pose', and then strap laspistols to them somewhere.

Also, any ideas on converting the Repentia Mistress into an Overseer? There's no model for the Overseer at all (that I'm aware of), so I guess I'd have pretty free reign in this area, just want some suggestions.
    >> Anonymous 05/10/09(Sun)15:17 No.4518744

how would you go about making ig veterans other than popping catachan heads on cadian bodies?
    >> Scriptarius 05/10/09(Sun)15:22 No.4518786
Well the main thing is you'll need to give them all new hands as the old ones will be lost with the eviscerators
Some of the arms might be reposable but IIRC many of them are posed with the arms pressed against their head or bodies, meaning you can't repose them.
Laspistol holsters solve then gun problem easily enough

The mistress probably would work best if you simply gave her a gun instead of the whips, possibly a book or something in the other hand, and pose her like she's ready to BLAM anyone showing signs of going daemonic. Maybe replace the head with a helmetless one and give her a bionic eyepiece, all the better to track her flock with.

On a sidenote that's an iterresting idea for psykers, I'd have gone with Empire Wizards or Sanctioned Psykers, with a blinged-up comissar as the overseer.

    What these?
Being the little nazi I am I'd say take those longcoat legs from the Cadian officer (gotta love dem legs), add a torso and the arm with the rope-bling fromt he Russ commander, give each beteran a different peaked cap head (officer, Russ commander, BB commander, metal liutenant, comissar...) and arm with your choise of guns.
Squad of mini-officers, all dressed up and ready to rock.

not really it would take some bulking up of the frame to pull it off.
    >> Anonymous 05/10/09(Sun)15:34 No.4518880
I figured there wouldnt be much room for reposing, thanks for the heads up though.

I dont want to use Sanctioned Psykers because I dont really like the models...there are only 3 and they are really, really similar poses to me.

The fluff behind my army in a nutshell is that its a rag-tag Guard force pulled together from dozens of different regiments that were left for dead on a death world. This gives me the freedom to 1) mix up the paintschemes on some models, and 2) use varios guard, and even non-guard models in my army and be able to justify them more easily.

What I might end up doing is using a blister of Sanctioned Psykers, a blister of Sisters Repentia, some Empire Wizards, as well as 1 or 2 Dark/Eldar Haemonculi/Farseers, and maybe even throw in a Tau Ethereal (all with conversions of course, to make them Imperial units) to represent an equally ragtag force of psykers pulled together from all those regiments. What do you fa/tg/uys think about that?
    >> Anonymous 05/10/09(Sun)15:35 No.4518884

Probably easiest way is to take a sharpie/highlighter, cut it to size, add battle cannon bitz.

I used also catachan arms but they do look a little big... The command squad has gasmaskes, mayde giving some of your normal guys them and giving them a lot of extra stuff (like ammopacks from some of your friends marines like I did)and adding some trophies could work.

Fuck yes, Script! Been wanting to ask you some stuff!

How do you go about making 100% sure that several models will fit together? For example, the other day I was making a very scenic model with a Plasma Gun-wielding Traitor Guardsman standing menacingly above the upper torso of a plasma'd Loyalist Guardsman, but at the end when I was going to glue it all together, suddenly the Plasma Gun-wielding guy doesn't face the Loyalist Guardsman, fucking the whole thing up.

Pretty much, how do you ensure multiple pieces in a project match up?
    >> Anonymous 05/10/09(Sun)18:06 No.4520075
Hope to use some 1:28 scale PaK 40 guns in place of missile launchers, as well. Steel Legion would likely be the best, but meh. if I have to, a nice paintjob, some Romanian iconography, and a few greatcoats will get me by.
    >> Anonymous 05/10/09(Sun)18:11 No.4520109

What would people recommend using if I want to create molds/make castings? Latex for molds and resin for the casting? Also, is there any product in particular that works well/is cheaper, etc? I need a lot of plasma and heavy weapons, and GW isnt getting $16 for every single plasma gunnner I want to pick up.

No, you need to use silicon rubber for molds and 2 part urethane plastic... not resin. urethane plastic is vastly superior to the resin used by forge world.

I wrote 3 tutorial threads for this precise thing.
