So I'm running a Planescape campaign.

The PCs are magical girls, and senior high school students from Sigil. They are imbued with magical girl powers on behalf of the factions they represent, and watched over by the Lady of Pain (a well-endowed older magical woman called Big Sis or Pain-chan).

They fight to protect Sigil from evil and enjoy cute things. Sometimes other magical girls appear, each representing a plane, but they tend to fight each other and make a mess instead (the tsundere Baator-tan and Celestia-tan don't get along, for example).

I was thinking of having Vecna be the bad guy. What do you think, /tg/?

    I'm in.

    Dibbs on Bleaker-Tan or Godsmen-Tan.

Bleaker-tan would be mellow, never really too bothered about anything, but genuinely caring about everyone. Also the only one who really gets along with dustman-tan.

Godsman-tan would be all into STUDY HARD, GET STRONGER, WORK OUT, GET BETTER. A super-intelligent little nerd who also happened to be buff as hell, but sometimes tramples others in her efforts to make the most out of herself.
    >> Anonymous 04/02/09(Thu)05:35 No.4161810

Fated-tan would be like Godsman-tan, but more selfish and not above actively exploiting the others. Blackmailing them, bribing teachers, stealing their homework or just plain bullying them.

Guvner-tan would be the leader of the team, though, always making sure everyone does what they're told. Her sidekicks are Harmonium-tan and Mercykiller-tan, both of whom look up to her as being the most lawful, but sometimes they get into a fights because they both want to get her attention and affection.

Guvner-tan never really notices them, though, she's too busy being tsundere for Free League-tan, who constantly skips class and comes up with novel solutions.

I laughed so hard I nearly rocked myself out of my chair. If you're just making this as a joke, excellent work. If you're actually running this as a game, you are a god among little girls in silly costumes. No doubt D&D oldfags and japanophobes will rage, however.

Revolutionary League-tan would be a girl who wasn't formally admitted to the school, but she snuck in anyway. She's from an underpriviledged family and she intends to make sure all of the other students fail.

She wishes Free League-tan would join her, and really hates Guvner-tan, but her plans never quite seem to work out because Xaositect-tan constantly ruins them by accident.

What system are you running it in? Because, while D&D of some sort would seem sensible, I'd really recommend looking into Trigger Discipline. Its rules lite, narrative heavy, but can be very crazy and very fun. Its moved away from the mecha cliches quite a lot- now it can generally be repurposed to any episodic type series with some form of crazy power.
    >> Anonymous 04/02/09(Thu)05:56 No.4161966

So now Trigger Discipline is BESM. That's nice.
    >> Anonymous 04/02/09(Thu)05:59 No.4161990
    >>4161941

The problem with Trigger Discipline is that whatever you do, it doesn't really matter. I mean.

The system doesn't really have any space for: "this stuff is more effective than that stuff in this situation" or "that's a really cool idea, you get a bonus." Using one Limit+3 skill or another Limit+3 skill is essentially the same, system-wise.

You can't really improve your own chances of success by being creative or intelligent, all you can really do is roleplay well and hope the dice love you.

I like the concept, but it needs work.

"Raistlin Majere of Krynn" A FAGGOT FROM FAGGOTLAND.

Fuck that shitty setting and all of the shitty main characters.

    >>4161870

Cipher-tan would be all Zen and shit, martial arts girl with tons of clever sayings for all situations. She's also the one tasked by Pain-chan to stop the other girls from being at each others' throats all the time.

Sensate-tan is 100% stoned, 100% of the time. Every night she's out partying or something, and she will get you amazingly blazed if you as much as touch her. But somehow she seems to learn a lot from all of her hedonistic excesses.

Athar-tan refuses to believe that the teachers know more than her, or that they're so special. She doesn't even like Pain-chan much, and is constantly out to discredit her and the school.

It can be semifixed by the addition of Exalted style stunt bonuses, i.e. if you think they did a really good description, give them a GAR point for the roll, temporary stat increase, or let a few successes deal more damage to an opponent. Its not covered in the rules, but it is relatively easy to come up with on the trot. Although, I'll agree some greater distinction between characters could be cool.
    >> Anonymous 04/02/09(Thu)06:27 No.4162233
    >>4162112

That won't really add much difference to what you DO in fights, though, only to how you describe it.

Personally I always thought that the fix would be to give each player three dice for every roll, but let them pick which pool to take them from.

You could roll three gar, three power, three trait or a combo of two of one plus one of another, one of each, etc.

But then the drain wouldn't be limited to your trait, whichever one of the three you rolled the highest in would be the one you'd temporarily lose some power from.

That would at least add a bit of a: "SAVE MY GAR OR BLOW IT ALL RIGHT AWAY?"-consideration.

Should probably leave the planar races as-is. What about these planar magical girls?

Celestia-tan could be a paladin-type girl, running around in a breastplate and swinging a longsword made of holiness. She rides a dragon and is a little bossy.
Bytopia-tan as a pair of gnome sisters that don't get along all the time.
Elysium-tan could be a miko who tries to be nice to everyone and everything, though she sometimes has to beat down evil with her magic broom.
    Beastlands-tan is probably a catgirl.
Arborea-tan, I'm not sure. An elf who dresses like a fairy?
Arcadia-tan could be a tsundere wannabe paladin and closet nerd.
Ysgard-tan dresses like a valkyrie and drinks when there are no adults around who would stop her.
Mechanus-tan would be the quiet glasses girl.
Limbo-tan could be the energetic genki girl who annoys Mechanus-tan a lot.

As for the darker magical girls...

Acheron-tan could be a half-orc in rusty armor.
Pandemonium-tan could be messy, dirty, loud and kind of crazy, but secretly just want to have friends.
Baator-tan would be a tsundere chessmaster.
Gehenna-tan could be a pyromaniac of some kind.
Hades-tan would be the quiet, emotionless one.
Carceri-tan could want to be some kind of policewoman, but is from a fiendish plane so she just doesn't get how it's supposed to work.
    Abyss-tan = yandere as hell.

    How is that?

    Sounds perfect.

You missed the Gray Waste, though. She'd probably be so sad and persistently depressed that anyone who hung around near her would get depressed as well. In at least one episode she'd save everyone by bumming out the villain so completely that he gave up fighting.

Also the Outlands. As the peacemaker/teacher who prevents them all from murdering each other despite their opposed personalities?

Also Gehenna might have a touch of the Just As Planned as well, it IS the home of the Yugoloths, after all.

And while she wouldn't believe in gifts from above, she'd believe in her Big Sis and the other Tans.

Aoskar would maybe be Pain-Chan's ex. Athar-tan would be distrustful of him, sure that he was just out to hurt their big sis again.

Godsman-tan would kinda look up to how big and strong he was, and wish that she could be like him one day.

The mental image of a magical girl with a hand for a head is actually kind of creepy.
