Because the last thread was autosageing, I'm going to repost some ideas I had for a new type of card.

Situation cards:
1. Situation cards are not memes, and are not played in threads. They are played off to the side, so that all players may reference their effects.
2. Situation cards affect all cards currently in play, and any cards that are played while the Situation card remains on the field.
3. Unless otherwise noted on a card, there can only be one Situation card in play at any time.
4. Unless otherwise noted on a card, a Situation card cancels any Situation currently in effect.
5. When a Situation is canceled, it is removed from play, NOT 404'd.

I'm working on a real template as well as rules for the real game and revised layout.
It is definitly possible to order real cards from a print shop, if this gets to a sufficient quality level that you'd want to spend money on it

As it stands its a lot of unguided ideas with no real gameplay in mind.

I'll be working this weekend on a better version.

SITUATION: Zombie Apocalypse

At the beginning of each turn, players making their turns must take a card at random from the 404 pile, add the card to the thread of their choice, and place a Zombie token on that card. A thread containing Zombie cards cannot deliver an Epic Win for any player should it autosage.

Regardless of the number stated on the card, the Report Cost of any Zombie card is *, and any /k/ meme played in a thread 404's a Zombie card from that thread.

How about:

I think there should be a new kind of thread: A meta thread.

Basically, meta threads are global enchantments that act like any other thread. The cards are memes, so the autosage can apply, but when the thread is over the thread is 404ed. Anyone can play on anyone's meta thread, but a player may make only one meta thread per game.

I think this adds a little depth, thoughts?

Are there any rules in reguards to posting memes of the same type as the OP? Because I believe there should be. I'd like to see some insentives for people to post the same boards both for realistic reasons and to give the game an interesting mechanic. After all, if I post a /tg/ meme in /a/, a lot of them wouldn't rage or lol as much.

So my suggestion is to designate the OP meme type as the board type. Memes from other boards lose -2 RAGE, -2 LOL, and -1 REPORT (to a minimum of 0 RAGE, 0 LOL, and * REPORT). It may sound harsh, but anything less, and there wouldn't be enough detriment to not post them- plus cards still keep their effects.

And as an additional rule, /b/ memes are immune to the penalties. In return, ANY meme can be posted in a /b/ thread without being penalized as well.

One of the problems so far is that it's only the difference between a card's RAGE and LOL values that really matter, and not so much the numbers themselves. For example, a card with 3 LOL and 4 RAGE isn't that useful as it's not increasing the RAGE counter by that much relative to the LOL counter.

The "Epic Win" pile could be used for something else entirely.

Maybe the Epic Win cards can be played again (then RFGed) but if you have cards left over in your Win pile at the end it gives you extra points.

Is it seriously that crippling? I'd actually think it'd add more balance to the game, because as of right now a lot of the emphasis is on a card's Green Text Ability instead of their RAGE and LOL values. If I look at King of Gets for example, even with the penalties, he can still automatically get Epic Win in a thread.

With the large penalties, instead of people just randomly playing whatever card with the ablitiy they feel is best for the thread, they now have to REALLY consider the meme typing.

And it shouldn't bog the game down. After all, there should often be at least 3 threads going at once and maybe even a double digit number of threads in some circumstances. There should always be options to play your cards.

And honestly, I really don't feel that just a -1 to report would do all that much to encourage people to keep threads on topic.

This means that a 1 Rage 0 Lol is more effective than a 4 Rage 3 Lol, because the first card can't have any Lol taken away, whereas a -2 Lol reaction could turn the 4 Rage 3 Lol into 4 Rage 1 Lol, making it a +3 Rage card.

I was thinking on that, and a thought. A thread's autosage value is 2+number of players, so in a 2 player, it's 4, 3 player is 5, etc. I would also add, a thread can only autosage if LOL doesn't equal RAGE. That would give the OP at minimum 3 chances to play on their thread, and everyone else 1 chance.
