Despite the obvious troll, I'll bite:
What happened today logically fit in with a lot of what happened before, and this was in fact one of the stronger theories being passed around. Stitches's death had been hinted at as Ruby's fault already, Filbert was an established presence... I'm trying to figure out what's so Shyamalan-ish about any of this.
None of this is completely unfounded nor tastelessly absurd. So though there was dawning realization, it's hardly a WHAT A TWEEST moment. And if the idea of a universal cure with monstrously bad side effects has been done before, I haven't read that particular story.

We've known Ruby was infected since like the third session, assumed it since the hound zombie slashed her in session 2, and suspected it from the moment Stitches showed up in session 1.
This "you're infected" thing isn't exactly new.

Or are you just trying to say that being infected in a setting that focuses on infection is cliché?
Wouldn't it be MORE cliché if she was the only one who was somehow immune?
OR MAYBE THE FACT THAT THERE'S SOME KIND OF DISEASE AT ALL IS CLICHE.

I believe it's time for the story to end.

It began as a good idea and a different experience from what /tg/ was having at the moment, but it's starting to get stale. The interaction part of this threads is getting lost by both the constant spamming and the railroading (as interesting or needed as it be).

Weaver gave us an interesting concept and a very good time, but it's time for it to end before it becomes a bag of crap.

Trolls "believe" whatever is useful for them to believe at any given moment. They all have fast-talk skill maxed out. It'll always be able to come up with a "reason" for what it's saying. Language, reasoning, negotiation Just Doesn't Work on these fuckers. For them, language isn't a tool for communication, it's a tool for manipulation. Every word spoken to a troll is a word wasted. Worse, every word spoken to a troll is a source of information for it to improve its technique. Better to speak to a houseplant.

I mean, we know where the exit is, we've met the emo bird Weaver mentioned in the poem, all that's left is finding out what the Turtle is about, who's ordering Ace and some sort of confrontation with Subject 6 (who is locked in lab B, where we are just now.)

Just finished reading the all the archives and so on. Weaver, congrats on having created something this good.

Regarding the complaining and trolling of these threads and so on (man, this is gonna be a major oldfag moment): There's a precedent for this sort of thing, and to be honest it's not too good. Bloom Writer's work is the main example- a funny, clever and moving story that slowly turned into something else entirely in the consciousness of /tg/ as newcomers tried to figure out what it was and only got answers from sagefags backlashing against the large audience that enjoyed it. Most of this backlash centered on some imaginary egotistical version of Bloom Writer who had created the whole LCB concept (People had been begging for a full story to go with Miko's comics for weeks when he volunteered, and rather than being arrogant he was critical of his work to a fault).

I think we'll be seeing something similar here- but to a less severe degree, and only after the game's conclusion. Several reasons for this:

-LCB had a greater draw for sagefags because at the time there was already one or two spamming in every thread because they didn't like that type of game/specific game, 40k being about the biggest target.
-The fanbase for Ruby Quest has generally proven more even-tempered and troll-savvy. In the olden days sagefags were more frustrating because sensible people just didn't know what to make of them.
-Weaver speaks more frequently, which keeps a damper on rampant speculation. (This one might not have any notable benefit, since it also means more chances for people to assume that Weaver's actions are motivated by deranged drama-queen thought processes.)

    >>3431704
In the end this is all tangential and superficial. Ruby Quest is and will remain an extraordinary piece of original content, the sort of thing /tg/ had in large supply back before a large base of memes had been developed and people became less ambitious and more worried about the potential for backlash. Weaver, thanks again for this breath of fresh air.

I don't read these threads, but why the hell not keep it here? It's pretty self contained, there's only a thread or two up at any time, and interactive fiction seems pretty close to roleplaying to me. The only downside is that there's a bunch of dumb fucks taking things to far and jerking off over cartoon animals. Again.

I agree, story's almost over, and while I don't think it's been a steady downhill descent in terms of quality (I'd say session 6 was weak, 5 was the best one so far, and this one was good overall), it does fluctuate, and one can't deny that something like this is impossible to keep up forever.
So hopefully it'll end soon, before it just inevitably peters out I'd say two more sessions sounds like a good sweet spot for it.

    >>3431701
I dunno, the only real negative reaction I saw to any of the reveals disappeared when the threads went past the front page, just like all the trolling did.
It's kind of telling, I think.

Anyway, none of the reveals were particularly improbable or terrible, and considering a lot of the theories until now involved clones, time travel, or aliens, I'd say Weaver pulled that off pretty damn well.

Even if you want to be strict about definitions, there's a strong precedent for Ruby Quest being /tg/-appropriate. It's a game with an interactive story, it's just that the game mechanic is old-school adventure puzzle solving rather that die-rolling combat.

Ah, but here comes the point of RAILROADING. Trolls like to claim that we really don't have any power over the story at all. Were they right, and we can't prove that they'ren't, RQ wouldn't belong here.

The very nature of the adventure makes railroading impossible to prove or disprove. Only one thing ever happens, how can we prove it wasn't what was planned to happen all along? Of course, people have been screaming "THIS IS ALL PRE-DRAWN NOTHING WE SAY MATTERS" since the early ages of drawhores back on /b/.

Most evidence is logic-based or anecdotal, rather than hard proof. Personally I'm convinced beyond all doubt this is done on the fly for a number of reasons:
    1. If it's all pre-drawn, why space it out over SIX TO TEN HOURS, AT MIDNIGHT? He could post much, much faster and have to waste less time, and apologists could still just argue he draws fast.
    2. Frames that have small changes are posted faster, frames with big changes take longer. Remembering how long each took to draw and then planning an appropriate pause for each one strikes me as more effort than it's worth.
    3. I've actually had one of my suggestions used, and I was the only one to suggest it. This could be argued as "I'm the only one who got it 'right'", but then again it's an issue of causality: only one thing happened, and it matched a comment. Did the comment cause the action, or was the action merely waiting for the comment?

It's impossible, by definition, to come up with concrete evidence here, short of Weaver opening some sort of live stream so we can watch him draw while the thread's going.

It's a collaborative, collective RPG in which a group leads a single character. Just because it doesn't have dice rolls for ST and so on doesn't mean it's suddenly something foreign and terrible.

And anyway, why complain about this? Right now there are a couple dozen threads on /tg/ whose only connection to traditional gaming is that their pornography features elves. Saying RQ isn't /tg/-related would hold more water if it weren't for the shitfloods of even worse threads that successfully run for hours on end without a single sage.

There are much worse things on /tg/ right now, and much less fitting things. Why single this out?

and everyone's like WHAT THE FUCK

I thought it was a rather clever way to comment on all the claims of RAILROOOOAAAAAAAD while still being acceptable within the diegesis. made a point without fucking up the narrative.

bonus points: someone actually DID suggest "shove stitches over the edge", but I bet if he'd quoted that they'd only assume he was posting suggestions for himself

Ruby should elevate her KUNDALINI from her AJNA to her SAHASRARA and thereby achieve union with GOD.

Or perhaps that would be a bad thing in this setting?
