Traditional Games Discussion:
One of my personal favorites, Call of Cthulhu has many of the qualities you seem to enjoy about this Story that is being told on /tg/. It has horror, and a gritty feel. It is also interactive, unlike this story that is being told now. Rather than being tied down by the author, a Call of Cthulhu game can last hours and doesn't require the usage of a forum devoted to gaming to enjoy.
I'd rate Call of Cthulhu like so:
Likeness to RQ: 4/10. Unfortunately, no roleplaying game is going to require as little effort as being told a story. The horror elements are definitely present, however.
Playability: 10/10 anyone who can read and enjoys horror can and should play Call of Cthulhu. There is even a d20 modern offshoot for those of you who don't want to learn the (superior) Chaosium system.
Enjoyability: 10/10. Call of Cthulhu has everything needed to create the ultimate horror game in your own livingroom. |
