10 KB Will you join me? Anonymous 01/02/09(Fri)13:50 No.3299918
Hello, /tg/, I am a long time fa/tg/uy. I have participated in multiple DnD games, I have seen everything from the 4e shitstorms to the banning of Jim Profit. I have watched it all, I have seen you play as wizards, I have seen you all roll dice to fight monsters.

I am here to tell you that you have been right all along. There IS magic, and I am its sole wielder. The monsters you pretend to fight- werewolves, vampires, dragons- they are real. Just as real as the magic I wield. For the last two years I have hid this fact, testing out my magical abilities on the scum of the earth. Gangsters, rapists, murderers. They have all become toys to test my powers out. Yet now I have gone beyond fearing the light of day, of fearing becoming the test subject of ignorant men who would rather dissect me than let me save the world.

You will, in all likelihood, call bullshit. But within a few hours, Cairo will go into quarantine. They will call it a chemical attack, or a terrorist bombing, or an invasion. In truth, it was *me*. The monsters mentioned earlier are coming, /tg/, and they do not wish to be stopped. Only I have held them off for so long, and today was the day of the largest attack yet. A large undead appeared this morning, fully intent on leveling the city and slaughtering its inhabitants. With the aid of several major government agencies I was able to destroy this creature, and it was at this point that I realized the wind is changing.

We are not holding this planet, Outsiders- the same creatures we have all fought with clerics and wizards- are winning this secret war. I know that within a few hours, when Cairo is quarantined, this thread will be gone. But while it is here, I come to beseech you, /tg/. I come to ask you for your brightest minds, for I know that only *you* have been disillusioned with the strange and paranormal.

The Sector of Paranormal Investigation. They are the American government's own special forces, drawn from all branches of the military. They police the supernatural, using technology well beyond the current standard to track down and "Eliminate" anything that goes bump in the night. For a long time I feared them, capable of only minor cantrips. Yet now that I have grown in power, even they are powerless to impede my plans.

I come not as a conqueror, but an educator. So, tell me, will *you* join the new era of magic? Or will you side with the SPI and their dogs, content with letting the world wither and die, magic remaining long forgotten?

    >> Anonymous 01/02/09(Fri)14:39 No.3300218
Do? You must listen, and understand what you face.

I, too, was eager to learn. I was once a normal person, a chiropractor in New York. On one of my many vacations, I took a trip to Egypt. It was there that I discovered the Book of Ra, secreted within a hidden chamber of one of the temples. It has since been compromised, but there are other places. Places where magic still flows strong. It is also easy to wield, much easier than what cinema portrays.

The sheer power of human belief is what fuels the basest magic. Belief in omnipotent gods, belief in the capabilities of other humans. Though we do not know it, the subconscious controls much of our universe. In order to shape reality, belief must be established. Self-confidence is a major asset of any caster, but not vital. I learned this in my studies of the Book of Ra, the most powerful grimoire ever composed by the last generation of wizards. It was invaluable, and I shall pass it on to those who truly wish to see humanity aided.

Upon the stroke of midnight on the eleventh, you shall hear a rapping upon your door. It does not matter what time zone you are in, for the effect will happen regardless. When you answer the door, there shall stand before you my greatest ally- the mummy Al-Kali. Bodyguard to the Pharaoh, and personal servant. He shall take you to a place you have never been before. One filled with trials intended for those who were to take up the robe of the magi. You will receive no outside aid in those trials, and the peril will be immense. Should you survive, you will fully understand what has happened, what will happen, and what must be done.

Commitments? You are required only to do one task for me, and do it well: Aid humanity. Make it flourish. I have already begun the machinations required to transform the harsh deserts into verdant meadows, but I still require people; men and women who will safeguard mankind from the monsters and its oppressors.

You will be richly rewarded for your services. I myself have secured the epitome of luxury in my works. After all, the grateful *do* find pleasure in giving to those they adore.

Board has already been set up in my location. Rest assured that all the luxuries you could ever wish for, as well as a few you never knew you wanted, will be available during your studies.

I have bent *reality itself* in my quest to save humanity. I have flayed werewolves alive with but a snap of my fingers. Do you so believe that things like time and distance can truly impede me?

Contact is quite simple. Al-Kali shall gather you all at the stroke of midnight at this coming full moon. Do not be afraid of him, for he beys me and me alone. He will answer what questions I permit him to, but his sole goal is to retrieve you.

Yes, full medical and dental coverage. As well as a *very* large pension.

Yes, they will wish to silence you. They will possibly try to arrange dangerous "Accidents" involving you and your loved ones. You may receive a mysterious visitor in the night, or a coworker will seemingly lose his mind and try to shoot you. Yet so long as you keep your confidence and remain alert, they will not directly harm you. Of that, Kali has made sure.

Remember: To lose the power of belief is to lose life.

    1) Return? You can never turn back from this, once you have chosen it. You will live your life in power, luxury, and constant peril. You will have the epitome of life, but in the same time have to leave everything in order to aid me and ensure humanity's prosperous survival.
    2) Death, but do not fear, for- if your will is strong enough- you may be able to return as a shade. Yet it is an...unlikely prospect, and death *will* be permanent during your trial.
    3) Both. The power of belief stretches beyond any boundaries, as does the power of the more complex magic. Yet keep in mind, whatever magic you specialize in will affect you just as much as you affect it. I myself have specialized in healing and electricity, and through experiment I have found myself superhumanly agile. When I had all of my ribs broken by a punch from an SPI Custodian in full power armor, they regenerated back to normal not a week later.

You say power comes from belief not any will. But these people of /tg/ who would supposidly be your followers lack any sort of belief. They do not follow you because they believe that you are truth but becuase they want you to be truth.
They follow you becuase you are simply a line of text,a disembodied voice with no proof for your claims. They believe they have nothing to lose and that is why they follow you.

That is not belief, it is simply a statement, a wager, they say yes becuase they think it will bring them profit with nothing to lose, not becuase they believe.

True belief, true faith comes from believing in something when it's difficult, when some evidence has been provided that points you in the right dierection, but evil wants to pull you back.

I will not follow you, I will not be your disciple becuase belief in you demands the forgetting of any other belief I have, to lose belief in reason and everything I have experienced.

If what you say is true then I will stand by my beliefs, the utturings of a madman with a god complex will not deter me.

My apologies at the delay, I did not see your post. Now then, I shall inform you of what events occurred that day.

It had been unlike any other until the attack, the heavens darkening as the Skirr appeared. It was easily the size of a warship, its bandages as wide as a city street. The battle was long and fierce, the undead monster employing several different methods of attack from mind controlling the inhabitants to trying to absorb me in its wrappings. Eventually we slew it, however, before the entirety of the city. The SPI agents that joined during the middle of the fight did not quite know what to do now. It was a major city, and their orders hardly had anything about capturing me after I saved the city in front of millions of eyes.

In the end it was agreed that the quarantine be put in effect as the city was repaired. I'm currently taking a break to recompose myself after summoning some earth elementals to help clear the debris. I also have several other projects waiting to be designed, including employing controlled planar breaches for infinite water, waste disposal, and electricity.

When what you have said has come to pass I will step out and do what must be done, with you or without you, I will see what is right and wrong for myself rather than following you.

Nothing will deter me from my God and nothing will deter me from doing what is right; with or without you.

So we're talking magic, the changing of our former selves into something more, something powerful, something dangerous. Something...righteous.

Who would be better suited for this then a fa/tg/uy? Desensitized to the horrors of the world, affiliation with games that regularly use demons and monsters. Granted it's make believe for all we know so is this.

But loyalty is something fa/tg/uys with a little time can produce in droves. Even in our games as we may have characters that strive for the destruction of good and humanity, put that fa/tg/uy in a position of power and tell him humanity depends on him, and I doubt you could find anyone who would hold their position with more respect and determination. It's a quality that we have, quality you'd be hard-pressed to find elseware.

Also: Op, why don't you give us a list of the "abilities" or "areas" in which you think we would specilize.

This is fun. I'd love for this to happen. We'll see if anything happens to Cairo, if it does Ops got a lot of followers, if not, well we had fun talking about it heh.

How's Op know Cairo is going quarentine again?

also, dear OP. why don't you use magic to bend 4chan, to have a tripcode?
or even better! do some technomancy that wouldn't be otherwise possible in a html environment like this? if you can do it, all will believe you're telling us the truth.

It's clearly your own fault that it has come to this. You've been practically flaunting your abilities, galavanting around commiting attrocities in the name of research. You've sewn the seeds of your own end, I have long since learned that anything which brings you out the scope of normalcy is something to be hidden away and only brought to surface in the most dire of circumstances. But, that is more than enough about me.

I shall follow you, not as a subject, but as an observer. I wish to witness your fall from grace, or prehaps your rise from the pit you have fallen into. But, remember these words well, even if you wipe all the 'scum' from the earth all you will accomplish is creating the greatest scum of all; the real monster will be you.

Bah. I wish that OP is telling the truth. That there is some gigantic conflict between those forces which we perceive to be good and evil;, that there is magic in the world, that we can at least have the power to die for something that we know in our hearts to be right.

Because otherwise we are trapped in a world of grey, where we have no other alternative but to spend our time toiling away just so we can live another day of mediocrity.

All of them, any of them. I can tell where a fly shit without even thinking about it, but I cannot tell where a person will excel, where an army will strike next, when I will die. Yet the full capabilities you will grow into will be unique for each of you, the end of a very long and trying road. First you must master basic spells.

Ah, but I did not specify the number of hours, have I? I must admit, the SPI has been slow on their enactment of the quarantine, but it is not a matter to be done messily. It is a subtle machination, to shut all of the major highways leading in and out, to cut off all means of communication, to render a city an empty space on the map.
