Dry Bones are an Elites choice now? The new codex is such a nerf for Koopa armies.
    >> Anonymous 07/15/08(Tue)16:35 No.2217016
The Paratroopas are honestly kindof a waste. I'd say go with Boos instead, plus a Giant Boo. Sure, they have facing problems, but they're easier to model and have better Initiative.
    >> Anonymous 07/15/08(Tue)16:36 No.2217019

Hey, hey. Put your Koopa King in with them, and their high toughness and "we'll be back" rolls virtually garuntees you'll get your boss into CC.

I was thinking bob-ombs, but every time I use them they end up exploding in the middle of my own army >.<

Think I should make room for a Magikoopa HQ?
    >> Da Boss Loota !!jjTJ3iecc1N 07/15/08(Tue)16:37 No.2217026
    >>2216985
No MagiKoopa? I know their magic is a bit weird but it helps a lot.
Also you need more Hammer Bro's. They are great.

    >>2216992
Damn Plumbers armies have always been over powered like that.
Not like the Toads though with their massive numbers and weak weapons.

Magikoopa could work, what with that unbeatable range, but your opponent WILL try to take it out first. I'd mix the Magikoopa in with the Dry Bones for meat (bone?) shields and attach your Koopa King to one of the Hammer Bros. squads. Also, swap out the Chain Chomp for a Pirana Plant, the Chomp is overpriced.
    >> Anonymous 07/15/08(Tue)16:39 No.2217037
Have you seen the new Mushroom Kingdom codex?

Their named character unit (I forget the name, those brothers) would take out like half of those goombas in a single turn, maybe more if they use the Troopas first with their Shell Kick ability.

Sure their cheap, but Goombas are really only good for tangling up Toad units or maybe Shyguys.
    >> Anonymous 07/15/08(Tue)16:40 No.2217051
    >>2217037

That's what I was forgetting! You need Shyguy mercenaries in there instead of Goombas.

Also, you might want to consider a Birdo squad under Heavy Support when you bump this army up to 2,000pts.
    >> Anonymous 07/15/08(Tue)16:41 No.2217056
There is a lack of Koopa Children in there, sir.

I suggest you fix that, before someone uses a Yoshi based army.
    >> Anonymous 07/15/08(Tue)16:43 No.2217072
Looks good, but the thing with Koopa Kings is that they're so slow, you have to rely on the enemy coming to you. You definitely want to use the The Princess is MINE! special rule to get enemy forces into CC range.

Alternatively, you could just give your King an Airship, but that'd be a lot of points sunk into HQ for an army this size.
    >> Anonymous 07/15/08(Tue)16:43 No.2217074
Hammer Bros. are only really good with a full Bros compliment, headed up by a Sledge Bros, and with a some Bullet Bill spam.

Go for Birdos instead. Better range.

Replace Thwomp with 2 Chargin Chucks.

Chargin Chucks are unbelievably versatile, sure they can die form volumes of fireballs but they are extremely good in CC and carry a football kick attack with a wide blast radius.

Don't even get me started on that fucking Subspace Emissary shit they just announced. Like I need a whole new faction to buy and paint. I've still got like 500 pts worth of yoshis still in box that I need to do.

Piranha Plants where the shit's at.

Not even the SUPER-POWERED Mushroom bros. can take them on without upgrades.

CC's are just SICK! My opponent totally underestimates them, usually going for the Sumo Bros. or Amazing Flying Hammer Bros.

I love getting the lucky roll on their Tackle. Seriously, splitting into three once they get into melee gives them so much versatility, not to mention their 3 wounds and ranged attack.

Yeah, they're really good against most units. But you get a Mushroom player who knows what he's doing, and all those plants are good for is sitting and watching.

Maybe some Fire Bros. would work better. They're not fielded as much as they should be, and most Mushroom players don't even know how to handle them.

Fucking huge point cost, but so worth it.

Ludicrously high defense and evasion, pretty much invincible to anything but a Star-Plumber.

Permanent Flying, giving you unmatched battlefield intel and overviews. Also, the Sun strikes like a fucking fist of an angry god, with a very small dodge-rate.

Too bad many gamers ban The Sun these days, as they don't know how to counter it. (Protip: Just because it's a Sun, doesn't mean it is immune to fire)

Oh well, at least I'm not playing a pure Island Yoshi force. One hit on their HQ unit and they all take a Morale penalty until he gets back on his mount, and if you can block it for two turns they lose. Mind-games against them are too easy to use.

The problem wasn't that it destroyed plumberfags. The problem was that they had to dump far more points into Starmen just to have a fighting chance than a Koopa list had to dump on the Angry Suns. And even that wasn't enough 70% of the time. I know the Plumbers are usually overpowered, but balance doesn't include fucking them over completely.

I remember back in third edition man, I had this awesome desert themed army with two squads of Boo Diddlys, a thwomp, fire snakes for fast attack (with Lakitu of course). For troops I went with Buzzies and dry bones (they were normal troop choices, instead of OMGNERF elites like they are now). Elites were Fire and Boomerange bros, I took maxed squads because having that much of a firebase meant that I owned that side of the table with ranged attacks. I ran it with Boom Boom with the wing option, although if I dropped the thwomp I could afford the Koopa King in his tank.

    Man, good times.

Dark Plumbers are... Well... They're all right, I guess. The main problem with them is that they're highly vulnerable to status effects. Seriously, I've seen games where someone'll drop a Horned Wario (that's the short one), and one round later has to treat it as a Flat Wario. If you're going to play Dark Plumbers, just remember to bring a few Loli Witches into the fray.

His first model is really hard to find these days though, and the .exe one reqires you to explain the different horizontal plane combat rules (as opposed to the more common vertical plane).
If i want to change things up i throw out the proto reploid with the sheild and then if things get tight i'll activate his chaos taint upgrade and turn him into zero. It's a gamble but on +4 he can overcome sigma virus and turn the tide.

Turn him into Zero? What the hell are you talking about, everyone knows you can only field Zero with either Wily or Dr. Cain HQ. And Wily can only field the berserk Zero, which let me tell you, is a bitch when he starts taking out your guys.

I don't like to e-fight but I use the X series rules. Zero can be used by either side depending on who wins the opening sigma virus roll. the only caveat is that if you use zero on the doctor L side he has to act alone. Not that it matters because in CC it takes an army to bring him down.

Only use Pharaohman once against each opponent. Once they learn to attack him when he starts to charge then leave his range, you may as well hand them the 150 points at the start of each battle.

You do know that Sigma Virus doesn't effect Zero don't you. He's immune to the standard maverick effects, and as Berserk Zero pretty much acts as a neutral piece unless you have Dr. Cain, who's special ability allows fielding of the Hunter Zero. He even lets you take control of a Berserk Zero if your opponent fields it, and you beat it in combat.

Zero is the fluff origin of the Sigma virus. He became immune to it later in fluff, and is immune in the Grimdark Hunters spinoff games, but the tabletop takes place in a mashup of time periods, ergo the Zero you have statted in the codex is the Cataclysm-era Zero. He may or may not be the Sigma virus carrier at the start of each game.

okay tg. I've got an upcoming battle against this chick. I know he's going to send her out fully armored and upgraded with a ship compliment and her four allied hunters from the most recent rule set.
I play rockman forces and I want to know what you guys think the best way for my bluebomber to kill her baby metroid (thus gaining phazon special attack) and win this fight for me.
tl;dr what starting powers should i give my blue bomber to trn him into a metroid killer.

    Most recent rules?
    Using Phazon against Powercreep Aran?

You might want to rethink that strategy. Your only hope is that they spend too many points on powerups for her and she rolls a double-one coming into play (The NO MY POWERUPS rule). Failing that, take out the rest of her forces and pray for a victory via No More Troops Remaining. Many of the non-core armies don't have Endless Waves of Mooks as an option.

    Lady Bow
    Paper Plumber Red
