37 KB Measuring how "easy" races are in Warhammer Anonymous 05/24/08(Sat)09:39 No.1807463
Take the various races. Build the worst army that's at least 1500 points that you can with their units. Hand that over to your opponent, while your opponent similarly composes an as shitty as possible minimum 1500 point army for you. Play them against each other as well as you can. Which race is the best in these conditions - ie. with which race is it the hardest to fuck up army composition?
    >> Anonymous 05/24/08(Sat)09:42 No.1807472
Marines. Everything they have has 4's across the board. Impossible to fuck up.
    >> Anonymous 05/24/08(Sat)09:43 No.1807474
    Dark Eldar
    >> Anonymous 05/24/08(Sat)09:43 No.1807475
    Probably SPESS MEHREENS.

Constructing the worst list imaginable isn't nearly the same thing as simply 'fucking up' a list because you're not good at building cheese.
    >> Anonymous 05/24/08(Sat)09:45 No.1807482
Interestingly... if you both made shitty forces they would theoretically perform all right because you would see barely any units of great danger in either rank.

Still, the hardest to make a 'shit' force out of be Chaos Space Marines. Even if you operate them all with the bare minimum of stuff you're still forced to take a HQ (chaos HQs are all decent) and your worst troops choice is the standard Chaos Space Marine, who comes armed with both a bolter, a bolt pistol and a close combat weapon. They'd be set for whatever shit your opponent threw at you because you'd have made sure they had nothing that could realistically put them down.

First thought Necrons but then I remember pariahs...

Space marines in all likelihood. You can't really screw them up. Maybe mass scouts? Or a massive amount of points spent on rhinos.

You kidding me? Against an equally shitty force the potential for rape of the enemy is awesome. I mean, Possessed would thrive in those conditions, especially if they rolled well, and no one would be able to kill the fucking dreads because anti-tank weapons would be left out.

The OP's challenge was to make as deliberately bad armies as you legally can, and with that condition, Necrons aren't so hot anymore.

Regardless, like somebody already said, making the shittiest army possible isn't really a good measure of how easy any side is.

I don't see how this method works as valuing an armies relative strength. it's just down to making the stupidest choice for the scenario (CQC equipped but spending most of the game trekking to the enemy etc).

part of me is wow'd by how much i wanted an SM scout army after seeing that.

Deployment is where n00bz fuck up. Everybody can go to failseer or heresyonline and get a decent list. Deployment can pretty much only be gained with experience. I think shitty deployment are one of the main reasons IG and other shooty army players loose.
    >> Anonymous 05/24/08(Sat)10:04 No.1807575
    >>1807541

No, no, no! You aren't going to play the sucky army you make, your opponent's going to play it. You play with your opponent's sucky army.

The thing is that both of you want to win, so you'll have to outperform your opponent. And face it, if you have to create a sucky list out of SPESHH MEHRENES or Chaos Marines, you are kind of already lost the game.

With Chaos Space Marines it would be pretty easy. Just mass all khorne berzerkers with no rhinos. I have the experience, it's rather sad when you see a mass of blood thirster warriors whittled down to a handful of models by the time they get into close combat range.
    >> Fish Nipples 05/24/08(Sat)11:38 No.1808025

But they would need the ability to not have to pass a leadership test on LD5 to do anything useful.

    >>1809402

That's not enough Synapse to cover 100+ gaunts. You're looking at lurking and accomplishing nothing the whole game or trying to move and likely ending up with half your force off the table.
    >> Anonymous 05/24/08(Sat)16:42 No.1809410
    >>1809398

There was a brood of three warriors to fulfill the HQ requirement.

It's a feasible army if you have a big bit of cover to hide the warriors in that's central enough to place the gaunt broods around. Unfortunately broods that huge are unwieldy and 18" is a pretty short range for their guns which are two S2 shots each.

Also there's barely any chance of hurting even armour 10.
    >> Anonymous 05/24/08(Sat)16:44 No.1809412
    Chaos:
Chaos Sorcerer. No options besides plasma pistol (maybe), they all make him better (110)
    2x Min-size Chaos Marine squad w/o upgrades (150)
    31 Chaos Spawn, split into 11 groups (9x3 spawn + 2x2 spawn)
    Total: 1500

Technically if you want to be pedantic, the all-gaunts army is better still than a icon-less Chaos list maxed out on Daemons.

    So Chaos Sorc (110)
2x Noise Marine squads w/ no upgrades (200)

Actually, I use 3 Haemonculi on skyboards with Destructors, Scissorhands, and Grotesque Talismans.
