What would you like to roleplay? Out with it, I don't care how dorky it is, I want to know. Be honest. Questing through modern day society as super children would just be fun. It seems easy to adapt as well: Psionics and all. I want to roleplay being a 12 year old girl. Yeah, I know, it's weird.
I want to run a Planescape game where we either go to alternate versions of the Prime Material Plane (a la Sliders or maybe even the Exiles comics). Then use it as an excuse to have the DnD characters run around in Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, and maybe Life.
Jeff.An Earthbound-style RPG is easy enough to run. d20 Modern + psionics + a good sense of humor = Earthbound. Actually, Mutants & Masterminds with a low power level would actually be a better system now that I think about it.It's not a specific setting or anything, but I'd like to be able to just once roleplay a romance. It's just very uncomfortable to do, regardless of the GM's sex. And the other players are going to heckle you, no matter what. It doesn't have to be a whole lot, just two characters realizing how much they care for each other and taking that first step toward true love. It would be a refreshing change from "OH MAN TAVERN WENCHES" or "I HAVE NO MUSHY FEELINGS! JUST SMASHY FEELINGS!"

Normal people with giant robots. The style of play could be anything: Highschool students with alter egos (Power Rangers), ultra serious military backed mechs (Evangelion), or just living life normally until event is randomly rolled up that requires some giant robot action that you just so happen to provide (Megas XLR). The Power Rangers example would be fun and would require the players to invest a bit in bluff for the whole "I'm uh, feeling sick, gotta go!".

I loved the Dinotopia books as a kid. Recently rediscovered them and indulged in nostalgia. I would love to roleplay something like this but before you say "LAWL DND HAZ DINOSAURZ", the important part of the dinotopian world was the attitude and themes that surrounded it. A huge part of the original book was "weapons are enemies to wielders" and trying to solve things peacefully. There's really no focus on combat or martial traditions of any kind - these things just don't exist. I think if would be very hard to preserve the charm of the world and play a game that featured at lease some element of combat. Tricky.

Maybe a game like Bokurano ("Ours") (1 robot many pilots taking turns (or... a turn...)): Each player creates three characters (they'll need them), each one has to be different and carry a different flaw, randomize the piloting order, the character that is choosen controls the giant robot while those that do not still hang around in the "cockpit" supporting the controller. It becomes pilot vs random enemy giant robot. While the battle rages, special attention must be brought to the city that is the battle grounds; each action, each step could result in civilian casualties (players can get creative with how they save them both inside and out of battle). The time limit is 48 hours after the enemy robot's appearance.If victory is achieved within time limit: Tally up the civillian casualties and collatoral damage and give the players character a score.The character then dies.Characters die after piloting the giant robot whether or not the battle ends in victory. Knowing this, when a character is called up to pilot, it is up to the other characters to make sure that the choosen takes up his or her responsibility as the robot's runner through use of friendships, promises, diplomacy or even intimidate checks. If they fail, the current pilot may run away from battle or even worse, use the giant robot to exact revenge on certain people below.Just Russian Roullet until the last pilot. Capital Ship battles. I've never seen a system that can do Capital Ship battles right. Put the players in command of their own small ships, looting or completing missions for bigger ships and eventually fleets, controlling the politics of entire systems. I always wanted to roleplay Half-Life 1. Just have the PC's be Scientists, Office Staff, Technicians, Janitors, and Security Guards. Then they have to work together and try to escape Black Mesa. Enemies and obstacles would of-course be things from the game. Toxic and radioactive spills, fires, collapsing walls/ceilings, merciless Marines and Black Ops, and of-course hungry aliens.I've also always wondered if some less fanciful scenarios wouldn't be a bit of fun. Say some games modeled after Poseidon (the original) or the Towering Inferno. Or having the players take on the rolls of random people in San Francisco after "the Big One". Maybe a good old fashioned plague sweeping the Earth and the players have to survive by avoiding catching the plague as well as escaping all the chaos that grips civilization during the height of the epidemic. They'd then have to find some way to maintain a living afterward. The littlest things could get people killed once the "worst" was over, like say coming up with appendicitis but having no doctor around.

Something based off Wolf's Rain would be kind of fun. The illusion of being human but actually being a wolf, going through society normally untill you physically interact. Sounds like fun though the combat system will always be bite bite bite.

Take GURPS Technomancer and advance the timeline 100 years. Magical FTL ships explore the universe. Low-tech fantasy type worlds mixed with higher-tech worlds. The antagonists are racist elves that use bio-tech and think they should be the only ones with FTL.

CoC style game, but with more focus on possession (I suppose like The Thing, as was suggested earlier). Having read this thread, I want very much to combine it with Metroid :PEspecially if "possession" did include hideous physical mutation, but wasn't visible if you had your suit on.

Okay, here's an idea that can work for just about any setting and system, but I'll use D&D as a default:All of the characters are very powerful and experienced adventures (around level 10 or higher) who have been travelling together as a party for a few years now. Along the way they've done all sorts of epic things like slaying dragons and saving kingdoms. They're not the best in the world, but they can and will handle most adventuring challenges with relative ease. On the way they've learned much about themselves and each other, and have intricate relationships. This will all be established before the game even starts.Now put them out of action. Maybe they've decided to retire, at least for now, and move into the city (or a quiet little town, whichever they prefer). The actual game will be at least 3/4 roleplaying, and almost all of the challenges will bo social. Sure, you may be a half-orc barbarian who can kill owlbears with your teeth alone, but do you have what to takes to win the heart of that elf girl next door? Can a wizard who's spent half of his life studying magic hold onto any actual friends when they don't need your help?Protip: Make sure that the players are smart or they'll abandon it all and run off on adventures the first chance they get.
