PREVIOUSLY ON STARSHIP IDOLS: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?searchall=Starship+Idols> MYRMIDO <> The Outer Rings <You stand with Captain Ozgen on the bridge. There, an Ensign is working to hail the local defense fleet, a smattering of absolutely ancient Conestoga-class ships. Revolutionary when they were introduced... almost a century ago. Ensign Evans looks back to the Captain, a comm headset on her head and a data monocle over her eye. “Sir. Three ships from Myrmido's CDF Fleet. The CDF Fidanza, the CDF Gould, and the CDF Montero. We're hailing them now.”“Alright, Ensign.” Captain Ozgen groans a little, leaning back in his captain's chair. “Look at that, Lieutenant. Have you ever seen anything more sorry than a trio of old transports being pressed into defense service?”“I don't know, Captain. I was never Fleet,” you say honestly. He sighs. “Poor things. Thankfully, it doesn't seem like the Bugs have too much of a presence around here. So we should be fine.”“Sir.” Ensign Evans calls to him again. “We have positive frequency, we're now patching it through.”“This is Captain Braeburn of the CDF Montero. We'll escort you into Myrmido's orbit.” One of the Ensign's scrunches her nose at the word “escort.” She makes air quotes to her friend, who quietly giggles at the thought of being “escorted” by CDF personnel. “Stand by.” The old Conestogas are much smaller and much less manueverable than ever the Rodger Young-class Transport Corvettes. But even so, they could hold off a bug assault through sheer armor and gumption alone.“Thank you, Captain Braeburn,” says Captain Ozgen politely. “We're planning to send down some MWI personnel including some MI troopers to Myrmido's local colony.”“Roger.” Myrmido's green valleys and fields come into view as you near the planet. It's enough to take your breath away. You fold your arms. It's been so long since you've been here. “Please be aware, Myrmido's an active combat zone. We have CDF personnel working to root out the last remnants of the Bugs and some of their Skinny auxiliaries.“Lieutenant?” You blink, then takes a breath. “Lieutenant.” Oh. Right. “Lieutenant. You gonna head down there?”> “In a bit. I want to check in with my staff first.”> “Yeah. Let's go.”> Other

> “In a bit. I want to check in with my staff first.”--You and Captain Ozgen sit around with the staff consisting of yourself, Nonon, Danner, Azuma, Mills, Burkett, Faraday, and all the rest. “Alright everyone. So here's the deal. Danner has already rented us a venue and has had advance personnel advertise auditions for the CDF Idol by the time we arrive. Me, Danner, and Nonon will be the judges. Faraday, I want you to examine all the girls as well by strength and er... musculature I guess.”Faraday grins. “Ha! Leave it to me, I've trained many a man and a woman who've won a gold medal. I know the best ones when I see them.”Nonon quirks her brow. “And singing I guess is our job?” You nod. “Oh great.”“Anyway. Captain Ozgen?”“We'll have a shuttle ready for you.”“Good,” you say. “Let's get on the bounce then people. Everyone stands up from the table then heads to the door. “By the way, Captain. Thanks for ferrying us all the way out here.”“It's my job,” he says. “A nice one at that. Would rather be doing this than commanding a battleship.” Of course, of course. “I already have a Viking ready to take you down to the surface, just be sure to tip your pilot.” You smirk at him. “Farewell, Lieutenant.”With that done, you walk down the hall. You manage to catch Mills, Azuma, and Burkett as they walk while Nonon steps ahead. She has her eyes buried in some kind of cartoon comic or something. Mills hands you a thermos of coffee and an apple for a quick light breakfast. “Lieutenant, I gotta say, I'm skeptical.” Oh? Azuma addresses this to you honestly. “Even if we had a week's notice of auditions. What makes you think the CDF will send girls to audition?”> “They will.”> “Of course they will, I'm there! And even if they don't, there has to be somebody who wants to get off that fucking rock and be a star. Nobody wants to live in the Colonies forever you know.”“Right shithole these Colonies are,” says Azuma. “I guess you might be right.”“Hey, just play it smooth,” says Burkett. “I know my way around Colonials.”“We're talking Colonials in general, Burkett,” says Azuma. “Not just the prostitutes.”“Hey, legalized prostitution is the best thing since sliced bread. Keeps morale up,” Burkett states. You roll your eyes. Eugh, disgusting. You never indulged in Colonial prostitutes... that much. But even so! “Listen, we're on their turf. We can't just run in, say we're Federals. We gotta play by their rules.”“As much as it pains me to say it.” You and your staff go down the elevator to the hangar. “Burkett is right. Let's play this diplomatically, and try not to walk all over them. We're relying on them for this one.” There you see the Idols all ready to board the Viking. “Girls!” You wave to them as you walk up.“I can't wait!” says Olga as she holds her dufflebag. “Do we get a nice hotel down there?”“I've already made arrangements,” says Danner. “Nicest hotel they got.” Olga and Naka grin, hurrying into the Viking. He looks back at Rosalie and Stacy. “Come on, apes. You wanna live forever? Show some hustle!”Rosalie smiles, laughing a bit before following Olga and Naka inside. The Viking was one of the most oldest and dedicated dropship shuttles the Federation had. Sometimes you didn't need to drop MI troops after all. Sometimes it was all about shuttling and ferrying. And now down to Myrmido's colony, St. George.--You're already landed down at the space port of St. George. There you see people in the plenty leaving the place, but not many arriving. “I have a car ready to take us to the venue. It's part of the Hotel we're staying at,” says Danner. “Just a few minutes.” You all wait outside on the street. And of course, like clockwork, a whole mess of streetwalkers are out and about. World's oldest profession has not died out with the Federation's rise to power.[1/2]
>>912685[2/2]In fact, out in the Colonies and beyond, it's prospered. You don't know what it is about the Colonies that inspires everyone to quite literally live by the mantra of “eat, fuck, kill.” Heck, it's more like, “eat, fuck, fuck, fuck, and occasionally kill something.” You shake your head at it.One of them, a long legged woman with a skirt as short as her midriff baring tank top walks up to your group. She brushes back her long brown hair, winking at Burkett. She keeps herself very well put together all things considered. “Hey, sweetie. These girls not giving you enough company?”“Depends, what's your price?” asks Burkett. Azuma slaps him upside the head. “Ow!”The prostitute snorts, then steps towards you. “What about you...” She spies the pins on your collar. “Lieutenant? Ooh, an Officer, hm? > “Sorry. Not interested.”She huffs. “Oh well.” She looks over at the Idols, who look at her with some air of awe. “Girls.” She waves at them, then walks away.“Man. Are the Colonies that lewd?” asks Stacy.“Apparently...” Rosalie is the one to read the guide to the Outer Colonies. “Apparently, out here, the Colonies really enjoy free love stuff.” Yep. You've got to watch your Idols closely though. There's no way you're letting one of those male prostitutes proposition them. Olga stares at one of them as he passes by.“Hey, cutie!” The male prostitutes are a lot less obvious, but you can still tell based on their demeanor and them approaching the women especially closely. “I'm around for a good price!” Olga stares at his butt as he walks on, his pants gripping his legs tight. Naka knocks some sense into Olga.“Here's our cars,” says Danner. “Let's head p.”--The Hotel had loaned you a their lecture hall for the auditins. Acoustics might be a bit fucky according to Azuma, but that wasn't your priority now. Your big priority was to judge the Idols who would come in. You're only here for one after all. As much as you'd love to take all the cute girls off this rock, the budget does not allow it. A table was set out for you, Nonon, and Danner. “Nonon, you have any experience singing?” you ask.“Of course,” says Nonon. “I used to sing for the Youth Federal Choir back in High School.” … the Y- the Youth Federal Choir? What the hell is she doing being a nerd songwriter that has to survive off of Azuma!? “I quit after High School though, it was so boring.” Eugh. She's one of those types. “Anyway, I know a good singer from a bad one.”Danner checks his watch. “Alright. The girls should be arriving any moment now.” Your Idols sit in the chairs behind you, ready to see who's who and to give their input if necessary. “Three, two, one...” You look to the double doors. “Mills. Let them in.”Mills opens the doors.…“Uh.” Olga tilts her head. “Where are they?” Huh? Mills looks outside, then shakes his head. Nobody?“The hell? We've advertised since we launched,” says Danner. Everyone balks a bit at that. “It's not like they're going to keep us waiting for long.”-> THREE HOURS LATER <-Olga and Naka have fallen asleep on each other, while Stacy and Rosalie have broken out a deck of cards are busy playing some kind of card game with each other. Nonon is busy watching her cartoons on her phone, while Danner simply naps. Mills stands by dutifully by the door. Azuma and Burkett have already left to go drinking, and you also dismissed Faraday as well for the sake of things. You nudge Danner. “Huh, what?”“This is on you,” you say. “Why is nobody coming?”“Look. It's been said time and time again,” he says. “Federation isn't that popular out here. Maybe they might not like us enough to want voluntarily uh... be an Idol for us.” Really. He says this now!? You shake your head. Augh. “Look, I-”“Excuse me.” You all look to the door. Oh sweet Mary and Joseph! A GIRL! Her face is caked with dirt and sand, and her curly ashy blonde strands of hair glitter with bits of mud and dirt in them. And there she stands in the olive drab uniform, mixed with dark brown armor plates on her chest, legs, and arms, and on her back is the heavy carry backpack and her pulse rifle. “Is this for the auditions?” A few more poke their heads in, resembling her as well. Oh, they're all cute too! Yes, yes! YES! Three of them in total! Oh, it's going to be tough to choose!“Yeah!” you say. “A- are you here to audition?” The girls all turn around, smiling happily.“No!” she says happily. … what. “Our big sister is! Charlie!”And in walks the most boyish looking girl you've seen in quite a while. Her hair kept short enough to look masculine, just past the ears, but her face and her body at least beneath that illfitting uniform of hers looks absolutely... boyish. Eugh. The much cuter sisters all grin and giggle. The first one takes Charlie's arm. “Come on, Charlie!”“Charlie?” Danner looks around. “What, are we enlisting boys now?”Charlie nervously smiles at you all. “Um. Hello. My name is Charlie Serrano.” She wipes a bit of muck from her cheek. “Sorry, me and my sisters just got back from patrol. Do you want me to sing or dance or... anything?”…You, Nonon, and Danner get into a group huddle. “He sounds like a pre-pubescent boy,” says Danner. “We can't hire him.”“DO IT. I WANT TO SEE HIM, I MEAN, HER.” Nonon breathes heavily, a blush evident on her cheeks. “GIVE HER A CHANCE NOW.”You roll your eyes.> “Could you wear something a bit more comfortable then we can do this.”> “Give us a song, would you?”> “Uh. > “Could you wear something a bit more comfortable then we can do this.”You look to Charlie. “Uh, Charlie. Listen uh... do you think you could wear something a bit more comfortable, then we can do this?”One of her sisters immediately holds up a pretty blue dress. Charlie balks at it, visibly recoiling at the sight of it. “I-... I guess we can.” She pulls her helmet off, brushing her slick hair back. The sisters are led by Mills to a dressing room, where you'll have a few minutes to talk about her.“Wait.” Olga looks a bit disappointed. “She's a girl?”“Why are you so disappointed?” asks Stacy.“I- I'm not disappointed, I just-... it looked confusing.” Olga rubs the back of her head.“Yeah. Confusing.” Naka as well looks away. The two of them are blushing quite intensely at the thought of it.Danner folds his arms. “I don't know about this, Lieutenant. An Idol should be much more feminine. Stacy is one thing, she's a delinquent. But an outright tomboy?”“Hey, there are plenty of tomboys in the Federation,” you say. “And don't diss Stacy like that. Look. She'll be fine, don't worry. We'll audition her. And if it doesn't work out, maybe one of her sisters will, they're plenty cute. Let's not count her out just because she doesn't look girly enough.” You have to admit, you have some reservations too. First it was the whole CDF thing. Now it's the fact that she doesn't even look the part of a stereotypical Idol.See, the stereotypical Idol is girly. They sing, sometimes not well but that's not the point. They sell things with feminity, personality, and poise. They're the original girls, they're what teenage girls aspire to be.Charlie is an absolute mutt. And that doesn't change when she comes out in the dress. Charlie may not be packing any scars thankfully. But you do notice that she does have a respectable bust at the very least. So if she dresses like a girl, she'll at least look like one. If she'll stop standing like a boy and maybe grow her hair out a little too. “You look good,” you say. She didn't have high heels it seems, so she simply wears the boots. Nice legs though, of what little you see of them. Very nice legs actually. The sisters all crowd behind you next to your Idols. “Knock them dead!”[1/]2
>>913272[2/2]…Charlie taps the microphone. “Hello. My name is Charlie Serrano. I'm a Private First Class in the CDF. And this is uh... the Federal Anthem?” The sisters clap, applauding her. She takes a deep breath.O Citizen SoldierWhen will we see your like again? That fought and died for,Your boy and gal and wife and stood against them. The 'rachnid armies,And sent them homeward,to think again.Nonon, Olga, and Naka are completely enraptured by her. By God, she has quite the voice. It's low, but it's powerful. It's... weird but you like it. It's a different flavor than what you're expecting. Her singing is amazing! You grin a bit. Those days are here now,None shall stay their hand again,Together we'll rise now,And be a nation again, that'll stand against them. The 'rachnid armies, and send them homeward,to think again. The sisters all stand applause. Your Idols all stand and applause. Even Danner and Nonon stand and clap. Charlie brushes some hair back, standing awkwardly, not sure if that means good or bad. “So. They nod, still happily grinning.Charlie looks around. “Um.” She steps to the right, curtsying with her skirt, before dancing to the left. She keeps her arms up, nervously looking around.… and your smile's gone. Charlie dances like Skinnies fuck.“Okay, that's enough.” Charlie sighs, apparently relieved. You say, “Uh, thank for auditioning. Do any of you girls want to try out?” Please do. They shake their heads, smiling.“We only came to make sure Charlie did,” says one of them, the first one who entered. “We heard about the Starship Idols program, and we thought she'd be the perfect fit if you were recruiting new girls. When we saw your flyer, we just knew she had to audition.” Charlie sits down on the floor of the stage, exposing her black panties to the open. “Oh- Charlie! Sit like a girl!”Charlie clutches her knees, pouting as she shuts her legs tight.“Yeah, hehe...” says the sister. “Sorry, my name is Dylan. We're her sisters, this is Alexis and Morgan.” The three of them smile at you. “So. Does she have the job then?”“Well, that depends,” you say. “Were more CDF personnel going to come and audition?”Alexis shakes her head. “Hell no. General Landis is gathering up huge posses of CDF personnel today for a run on Plasma Mountain. It's the last bastion of resistance here on Myrmido. Hell, we're late to the assembly just getting her to the audition. Sergeant Cho's gonna smoke us but it's worth it!”“Can we go back to the barracks now!?” yells Charlie.“Does she have the job though? > “Yeah, she can.”You smile at them. “She can.” The sisters all jump for joy, hugging each other. Charlie turns her head up, confused. “Alright, Charlie. Pack your bags. You'll be up and out of here in no time.”“Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait.” Charlie runs over. “Wait, wait. We can't just leave, Lieutenant.” Huh? “There's still a battle to be won here. You're just going to pluck me out of the fight to sell a couple of war bonds?”“Hey. Our work is much more important than that,” says Rosalie indignantly. The other Idols stand up in solidarity as well.“And I appreciate it, but the real fight is here,” says Charlie. “I mean, so what if I can sing? My sisters have lovely singing voices! And they can dance better than I can! And they're prettier than me! And that's just not them, there are other girls in the CDF too who deserve to go way more than I do!” Charlie stomps her foot. “Damn it, I don't want to go!”Morgan places a hand on Charlie's shoulder. “Charlie. Come on, you're not gonna get an opportunity like this again.”“Forget it! I'm not just gonna abandon the CDF, not for a bunch of Federals who abandoned us!” she says.…You glare a hole right through them. “I fought on Myrmido, Charlie.” They step back a bit. The Idols as well step back as well. “I lost six of my best men here on this planet fighting for you. I was almost killed here in fact. Whatever you think about the Federation fine, but I did not abandon Myrmido, do not assume that just because I live and breathe the Federation. Alright?”Charlie takes a deep breath, then relaxes herself. “... I don't want to go. Lieutenant, I appreciate what you did for the colony. But I still have a duty to my sisters and my people here too. I grew up here, I- I had my first kiss here, I had my first time here too! I had planned to live here my entire life! You can't just expect me to uproot myself to be an Idol.”Alexis steps in. “Charlie. Think about this, okay?” Charlie is about to open her mouth. “Charlie, no. Listen. This is the best opportunity of your life that you will ever get. You're stronger than the three of us combined. You can do this better than we could. That's why we put you here. Please, just take it, okay?” The sisters nod, all coming close to Charlie.“Look. If you don't want to go, that's fine. I can find another girl who's more willing,” you say.“Wait.” Dylan says, “Charlie will agree, won't you, Charlie?”…Charlie says simply, “Plasma Mountain is the last bastion of Bug resistance here. We beat them there, we could liberate the planet completely. At least let me and my sisters fight there and make sure the Colony is safe. You nod.Rosalie gasps, then smiles. “We'll do our best, Lieutenant!” She wraps her arms around Stacy and Olga, smiling at them. “Won't we, girls? It's time to prove that we can fight as well as any other trooper! We might even get some press in the papers for this!” That's true, you didn't even think about that. It may even endear you to the CDF to do this. The other two Idols look nervous though. They clearly don't look forward to this, you'll have to talk to them later.“Mills, prep the cars,” you say. “Where's your barracks?” you ask to Charlie.--> CAMP FORLORN HOPE <> 100 KM FROM PLASMA MOUNTAIN <The rolling hills of Myrmido were giving way to shell craters, hastily dug trenches, and lots of tents. Your Range Rovers carrying you, your staff, and the CDF girls were passing on a hastily dug road leading to the main headquarters building. There, Charlie explained it to you. “We'll introduce you to General Landis. He's the chief CDF Officer for the planet, if anybody knows what he's doing here, he's the guy. He's managed to drive the Bugs and Skinnies out to Plasma Mountain.”“What's Plasma Mountain?” asks Olga.Alexis points ahead to a large rise in the horizon. It's a sharp point in the cloudy skies. And periodically you see flashes of blue pop out from it. Plasma bursts. “That is Plasma Mountain. It's about 4.5 kilometers in height! Really rocky terrain, terrible ground to engage on for both them and us!”“They can't tunnel on that ground, we managed to drive the Bugs out there once we smoked out their Queens and their Plasmas. But they're dug in tight!” says Morgan. “None of our attacks have managed to hit them!”“What about orbital strike?” you ask.“The Bugs have fifteen anti-orbital batteries on Plasma Mountain alone, and they've covered nearly every hole and crater on it with triple A so we can't go near it either with the Huscarls,” she says. “Artillery is only driving them further up the mountain too, plus the A-O guns can just turn down and fire back on us if they need to. And Conestogas aren't equipped for long range orbital.” Shit. This is gonna be messy then.[1/2]
>>914098[2/2]The Range Rovers arrive. The first thing you see when you dismount? A man being carted away by stretcher, his arm burnt off by plasma and his face mangled by burns. Charlie and his sisters walk by while Stacy, Olga, and Naka stand awestruck. Rosalie steels herself, holding her chest. “You girls stay here, I'll be back. Mills, Burkett, with me.” The two of them follow you to the headquarters building, little more than a large tent with a radio tower set up. Obvious, but the Bugs don't seem to have picked up on it yet.“Sir!” Charlie calls out. One of the sentries there aims to stop her. “Sir, General Landis!” You see General Landis inside talking with some of his subordinate officers over a map table. A crusty looking old man, wearing the same CDF uniform as everyone else, complete with armor and helmet. He looks up. “Mobile Infantry.” The other Officers look at you as if you just walked in and stomped on a sand castle. It's like they think you're the richest girl in town and they're the poor little beggars in the street, resentful of your wealth. Please. You step in, with the sentries parting away for you. “General Landis. I'm Lieutenant-”“I know who you are,” he says. “You're that war hero what captured a Queen.” His voice is quite raspy and almost restricted, as if he were hit in the lung or something. He salutes you back. “Lieutenant. I wasn't informed we were getting help from an MI detachment.”“... well, I wasn't here to help you in the first place, honestly.” He rolls his eyes. “Sir. I'm here to help so that I can take Charlie Serrano here and make her an Idol.” All the CDF Officers in there stare at you. “... yeah, it's ridiculous, I know.”"You want to steal one of our troopers?" asks one of the Colonels. > “Me, plus Sergeant Burkett and my three Idols.”“Me, Sergeant Burkett, and my three Idols. That's five suited MI troopers ready to roll when you need it,” you say.Colonel Hanley looks to General Landis. “That's it? Five MI troopers? You can't expect five Federals to make a difference in this fight, General. Again, I strongly recommend that we surround the Mountain and starve the defenders out. We'd lose more lives than we'd save taking that mountain. And there's no way a bunch of Federals are going to be of any help to us after what we've done for almost ten years here on Myrmido!”“And kindly, Colonel Hanley, I'd suggest you shut the fuck up,” says General Landis back to him. Hanley steps back, looking like a hurt dog at this point. “We're taking that mountain like it or not.” He He rolls up the map, then motions you to follow him. The lot of you follow him outside the headquarters building. “Right, here's the skinny. Lieutenant, this evening once we have all our troops, we're going to assault the mountain in force.” He points out to the mountain, which is constantly spewing plasma out, barraging forward CDF positions. “We'll have a good sized force of 30,000 CDF troopers attacking the mountain from three directions. One from the north, one from the west, and one from our direction, the south. Colonel Hanley's regiment will lead the assault, punch a spearhead for us into their lines and allow the rest of the troops to flow in. He'll have to cross a small creek down there, shouldn't be deeper than two feet.”“Where do we fit?” you ask.“Force multiplication. You'll fall under Hanley's command,” he says. “Help him breakthrough. Once the gap in the line is established, we can start knocking out AA batteries and we can ferry Huscarls in with reinforcements. We'll swamp them with our numbers and superior mobility. That clear?”Not a bad way to do things for a Colonial. “We're clear.”“Good.” General Landis points to the mountain. “Ladies and gentleman. By tomorrow morning. I want to be eating rations and drinking whiskey on the peak of Plasma Mountain.” He looks to you. “You do this for me, you can take all the girls you want to take too.” You nod. Great. All this just to get an Idol. You look back to your own Idols, who stare at the Mountain in mixtures of fear and awe.Their first real combat operation.

You hear light artillery fire pepper the frontlines. Captain Ozgen was kind enough to have a Viking ferry your suits down to the ground for you, a quintuplet of Marauders including a Shocktrooper suit just for you. The girls were quick to dress out into their I-Suits and then start the diagnostics check up. You stand there as well, supervising them with Burkett. “What's the score, Burkett?”“Here we are, Lieutenant.” He holds up his PDA to you. “This is the team, minus you of course.”> SGT. S. BURKETT – ELITE SHOCKTROOPER> PFC. R. O'CONNOR – SCOUTTROOPER> PFC. O. SCHWARBER – TANKER> PFC. S. ELSON – SHOCKTROOPER“A five man team, shouldn't be too hard. A company after all took down the Skinnies,” you say. Burkett knowingly looks at you, aware that the actual result of that terror raid only resulted in the Skinnies splintering in half and resulting in some joining the Federation and some remaining with the Bugs. Heck, you're told that some Skinnies are up that mountain right now in fact. They'll probably be the ones manning the rear defenses, Sknnies were never one to get into a direct fight with a trooper in a suit. “Burkett, you're good?”“As I'll ever be,” he says. “Don't worry. I'll protect those girls with my life.”“You better.” You gently shove him in the chest, glaring at him. “Anyone of them gets injured on your watch, I'll do double to you.”“Fair.” He crosses his arms, then checks the time on his PDA. “We've got an hour before we step off. I'd hydrate, Lieutenant.” You nod. “On -water.-” Please. You don't drink on duty.… anymore. As you walk to get a canteen though, you take a look at a squad of CDF troopers passing by the suits. Like Charlie's sisters, they're all completely dirty and covered in grunge, a far cry from the impeccably clean suits that you're used to. During your stint with the MI, keeping your suit clean was important, it was one of the few things you could do offduty on a ship, and generally higher ups loved having a sleek shiny platoon of suits to show off to others. But in the CDF? It's as if they don't care about uniform regulations or even being clean. They had rolled up sleeves showing off muscular arms and tattoos. They had tape covering up wounds. And their uniforms were ill fitting and loose compared to the form fitting I-Suits of the MI. And they came in all shapes and sizes, from as old as 60 to as young as 14.[1/2]
>>915956And these seven of them walked up to your girls. “Well lookie here, gents.” The girls look to them. “The Feds have arrived. Come to save us with your superior training and technology?” They laugh a little at the girls, loitering around the suits.Olga grins, stepping off the scaffolding for her suit. “Yeah, we're here to help! My name's Olga!” She holds out her hand to the trooper. “What's your nam-”He slaps the hand away. “Get that shit outta here, lass.” Olga's grin turns into a fearful frown. Rosalie and Stacy immediately step down from their suits, walking up around her. "I ain't your fecking friend."“Hey!” Stacy steps in front of Olga. “You got a problem or something!?”“We found you, didn't we?” says the same trooper. Stacy immediately attacks him. Oh shit. Burkett immediately runs over from what he was doing, and you do the same as well. > Break it up, no one gets injured before a fight, damn it!“Hey!” you shout. “Break it up! Break it the fuck up!” Stacy manages a good punch in on one of the CDF troopers, knocking his helmet clean off. Rosalie meanwhile wrestles with the surprisingly spry 50 year old trooper. “Fucking, get off!” You squeeze yourself between Stacy and the CDF trooper and force them apart. Burkett shoves the CDF Troopers back, getting Rosalie back as well. “Fight's with the Bugs, not with each other! Now piss off!”The CDF troopers glare at you, then at the Idols. “Come on, lads. Ain't worth it.” They march off at quick pace, leaving you all.Stacy glares at them as they leave. “They got no right picking on Olga like that. She was just trying to be nice.”“Stacy. Try not to do that again. Okay?” you ask. Stacy growls, storming back to her suit. You can understand her attitude. If it were you, you'd have done the same. But right now, the most important thing is professionalism. And if you aren't professional in front of the CDF, it might cost you.Olga sniffles a bit. “I-... I was only trying to be nice.”“I know. Just do your job, okay, Olga?” She nods, moping a bit.Rosalie says, “Lieutenant. We'll do our best. We'll show those CDF idiots who's the boss.”“The CDF are kind enough to let us participate,” you say. “Rosalie, just show them how the MI works.” She nods, going back to her suit.Augh. > Check on the girls and their suits.“How are the suits?” you ask.“They're good,” says Rosalie. She steps off hers, quickly rubbing her sleeve on the arm to give it a bit of sheen to the polish. “I can't wait to get into the action. I will admit, I got the shakes. But finally having the chance to prove myself out there? That's great. Mine is a Marauder Scout, Olga has the Tanker, and Stacy has the Shocktrooper of course.” You nod.Naka stands around, looking at the suits. “What do I do?”“You keep the home fires burning for us, Naka,” says Stacy as she zips up her I-Suit. “We're going to be going into enemy territory. You don't have a suit, and I don't imagine you're trained to be a Fleet Grounside Liaison.” She shakes her head. “Just stay back and let us handle this. We'll take Plasma Mountain...” She takes a deep breath. “Hopefully with few casualties.”“Yeah. I want everyone to go home safe and without injury,” says Olga. “It'd break my heart if one of you were injured. Especially you, Lieutenant.”“I'll be fine. If anything, my heart will break if a hand is laid on you,” you say back. “Sergeant Burkett will be in charge, but he'll take orders from me, got that?” They nod. “Good. Remember, basic tactic for the MI to keep mobile. We stay in place, we'll be sitting ducks for that arty. Use your jumpjets vigorously, and remember that-” You look past them to see CDF Troopers running past to the frontline. You hear lots of whistles sound as CDF Troopers abandon what they're doing and head up to the frontline. “Shit, that's us.”“We're already going in!?” yells Olga.Stacy quickly pushes Olga out. “Come on, get into your suit Olga. You two stay behind me!” Rosalie and Olga nod, hurrying into theirs. You grab your link helmet and hurry up into your own suit. Right, time to make an example to the CDF. You slip inside, then quickly link up. The helmet shuts tight around you, and your HUD quickly flashes in around the visor. With a quick stretch of the limbs, you motion your squad.“Come on you apes, you wanna live forever!? On the bounce!” you yell.--> THE CREEK AT THE BASE OF PLASMA MOUNTAIN<CDF Troopers duck down into craters, foxholes, and trenches dug in by the creek. Plasma shells explode and burn all around them, some scoring lucky shots into holes and flash-disintegrating troopers before they even feel anything. The five of you hang in the back, ready to jump in at a moment's notice. The artillery fire is starting to intensify. “Why the fuck are we just standing around here!?” yells a CDF Trooper on his Tau Gun, manning the back gun of one of the Range Rovers.[1/2]
>>916364[2/2]One of Charlie's sisters, Alexis you think, pokes her head out of a hole. “Lieutenant, you alright!?” Charlie as well pops her head up, looking at you.“Stay down!” you yell back. A plasma burst forces them in. Adrenaline's already starting to run. Another plasma bomb blasts a pair of Troopers out of their hole, sending body parts all over the grass. When's this assault supposed to take place? You poke your head up over the berm you're hiding behind. A ping against your helmet signals that yes, they have snipers. Great.“Colonel Hanley,” you call over the radio. “We're 30 minutes late to begin the assault, what's taking so long?”Colonel Hanley says, “I'm waiting for the artillery to die down before we begin, -Lieutenant-.” Waiting for the artillery to die down!? “Then we can rush in.”“The fucking artillery is blowing us to pieces here and we're just sitting here with our foots in our dicks!” screams a CDF trooper, no older than 14.“Just hold on, Trooper!” says Hanley. Actually, could Hanley be trying to get the CDF here mostly killed so that the assault will fail, and pin the blame on the MI not carrying their weight?

> Wait for Hanley's orders. You're not going to show him up.You sigh, gritting your teeth. Another explosion knocks out a pair of Troopers. More sniper fire picks off anyone who pokes their head out of cover. Some coming dangerously close to your girls here. “You know.” Rosalie leans up a little, looking at all of you. “I never thought my first time in combat would be so... would be spent waiting around.”“That's Federal Service!” says Burkett. “Hurry up and wait!” Another shell blasts into one of the trenches. Olga clutches her Smart Gun, her eyes squeezed shut as she endures blow after blow of nearby shots. You can see Stacy as well struggling to stay put. “Hey.” Burkett pats Olga, making her flinch. She turns over at him. “Won't be much longer. Steady up.”You roll your eyes. It can't be much longer.> 30 MINUTES LATER <The artillery fire is not letting up. It's slow, but it's getting more and more accurate as time passes. Splashes between foxholes and trenches now turn into accurate pinpoint shots into defense lines and at the waiting Range Rovers. That's it. You're not dealing with this. You're about to step up and charge when Burkett gets your attention. “Lieutenant!” He points back to see Colonel Hanley standing at attention with General Landis. “It's Colonel Hanley with General Landis!” Oh shit, you have to see this. You nod to Burkett, then jet your way back up to their HQ post, only 200 meters behind the line.[1/2]
>>916598[2/2]“Sir.” Colonel Hanley tries to explain why his unit is an hour late to assault. “I'm concerned with the enemy artillery that moving our Range Rovers to support our infantry that we could sustain unnecessary casualties-”“Not only no, Colonel, but fuck no! I don't give a fuck about how many people you lose today!” shouts Landis, giving him the knifehand treatment. “You've got 30,000 CDF troopers waiting on your signal to assault, waiting underneath a pre-sighted artillery barrage! And you're standing here, watching and waiting for an artillery barrage to just magically die down and stop being a threat!” He doesn't even flinch at a sniper shot grazing one of the sandbags, making Hanley and the rest of the staff duck and jump. “You keep waiting, their fire is only going to get more accurate! Every inch of ground those Troopers stand in is presighted for everything like those piddly little rifle grenades and 60mils to the big guns! And you're just going to let yourself be flashfried by some stinking bloodsucking Bugs and their Skinny fucktoys!” Colonel Hanley looks like a scolded dog. “Get yourself to the rear, you're relieved of command, Stacker!” A CDF Major comes up. “Take this attack on end, now!”“Yes, sir!” Stacker pulls a whistle out from his belt, blaring it over the artillery noise. The CDF troops get up and start charging across the creek. Repeating plasma fire and sniper fire opens up on them, scattering but not slowing down their assault. The Range Rovers punch straight up, immediately outpacing the infantry.“Spin 'em up!” yells a Range Rover gunner. Their Tau Cannons plaster the ridgeline with electric orange energy, sending rocks and dust everywhere and smashing MG positions. Heedless of their losses, the CDF pushes up the mountain.General Landis looks to you. “Lieutenant!” He points ahead. “I want you and your Idols to support my Range Rovers! Those things are the only vehicles we have that are fast and can reliably destroy Bug armor! I'm turning you loose, now go!”Alright, fine. “Girls!” you yell. > Stay with them, keep it as one big force.“Jump to the Range Rovers, let's go!” With a blast, you jump across the creek and land with a thud next to the vehicles. You head up to the lead vehicle and speak to the passenger. “We're your escort, Sergeant! What's the word!?”“We have to clear out a batch of AA guns on this side of the mountain!” he says as he leans out the window. “Once they're gone, Huscarls can shuttle in more reinforcements directly on our positions on the mountain! I need you to cover my column, we're six strong, four Tau Cannons and a pair of Deuces!”“Alright!” Olga takes your side, while Stacy, Rosalie, and Burkett take the other side as well. “You know the terrain up here?”The Sergeant nods. “Used to mountainclimb up here before the bugs show up! The trail here gets narrow! So we're going to have to advance as a column!” You nod. Fair, fair. You motion Burkett to take the lead alongside you, while your girls bring up the rear. You're going to stick close to the Range Rovers and keep it as one big force. A tactical blob some call it, but it's usually pretty effective. Sporadic machine gun fire and sniper fire is quickly silenced either by your Y-Racks or the Tau Cannons. As you move forward, the angle gets steeper and steeper. The Range Rovers, being Range Rovers, take it in stride. And with your jump jets, you're able to jump from rock to rock. You do notice you're outpacing the infantry quite a bit though. Rosalie holds out her arm, a motion scanner active as part of her Scouttrooper kit. “Any reading?” asks Burkett.“No, Sergeant!” Rosalie says. “W- wait! I got movement ahead!” A blob of blue gel suddenly splashes against one of the Range Rover tires. You hear hissing air and the squeezing of rubber beneath it. “What the-”“What the hell is that!?” screams Olga.“Constrictor rifles!” Burkett immediately pushes Rosalie down. “Get down, get down!” You and Olga quickly duck behind an outcropping of rocks as well. You pop out your secondary cam to look. There you see the skinny multi-eyed blue-skinned freaks in suits of their own, necessary to survive in habitats outside of Tophet.> SKINNY SKIRMISHERS <> Not all Skinnies chose to follow the Federation. Many are still in service to the Bugs for unknown reasons. They're mostly restricted to the Skirmish role in place of workers and lower-class warriors. Utilizing a unique constricting gel, their Constrictor guns can make even a Marauder suit blush. <[1/2]
>>916872[2/2]“Take out those Skinnies!” yells the CDF driver. Tau Cannons and machine gun fire start lighting up the ridge lines around you. The Skinnies yell out in their funny language, shifting their defense back a bit. The Range Rovers keep on advancing as you lay down another hail of fire. The Constrictor Rifle fire starts to die down as you motion everyone to advance up. Your squad now comes up in a skirmish pattern in front of the vehicles. And now you can clearly see a cave system up ahead leading further into the mountain. Oh boy.“More movement ahead!” says Rosalie. You look up to see a Skinny wielding a constrictor. Oh shit! “OLGA!”Olga turns to him and immediately shreds with a burst from her Smart Gun. The Skinny falls into two pieces, blood splashed all over the place. She starts spraying the rock outcroppings where Skinnies hide more vigorously. Either frightened or inspired by this incredible display of bloodlust, Stacy and Rosalie also amp up their fire as well. The lot of you quickly start making progress up the ridge.“All CD Forces, this is Alpha 1-1.” The Range Rover commander calls over the radio. “We're making progress up the ridge, coming up to a cave system now!”“This is Bravo 2 actual, moving to wipe out AA batteries on our side of the ridge!” CDF infantry start clearing out hidden AA guns all over the mountain, tossing packs of explosives into them or outright tossing grenades down their barrels. You and the Range Rovers finally get a platoon of CDF soldiers. There you see Charlie as well. Oh Thank God, you forgot about her in the chaos.“Charlie, are you okay!?” you yell.Charlie nods. Her sisters walk behind her. “She's A-OK, Lieutenant, don't worry!” says Alexis.“Yeah, no one wants an Idol who has prosthetics, that's always awkward,” says Charlie simply. “We're good to go, Lieutenant. Don't worry.” You nod, keeping the pressure on to the cave. You see the Skinnies retreat inside into the dark cave systems. Rosalie steps in front, her motion scanner out.“Hold, hold!” you yell. The column stops. “Sergeant!” The Sergeant pokes his head out of the Range Rover. “Sergeant, is there another way around this cave system? It's gonna be hell fighting in there! On the other hand the tunnels are likely a death trap for our bulky suits and the Rovers because we know for a fact that a bunch of dedicated skirmisher/ambush troops just fell back into them. What's the hold up?” he asks, obviously displeased.“I got a bad feeling about this tunnel system we have to advance through. I'm gonna put the call out to wait for reinforcements. Can you bring anything out to us?”“Stand by, the second wave is incoming,” he says simply. You hear the dull sound of... rotors? They're still using rotorcraft? A force of over several dozen tiltrotor aircraft come sailing in through the sky. With a pair of large twin rotors, two door guns, and a passenger compartment big enough to comfortably fit a squad, it is quite antiquated. These must be the Huscarls. Goddamn. You just remembered Huscarls are like a hundred years old. They still use these!? Squads of reinforcements start dropping in at the ready.“Lieutenant, Captain Allers!” He salutes you, and you salute him back. “We are to push through this cave system and destroy everything inside of it!” You nod. Alright, it's their funeral. “Have the Range Rovers stay back, we'll have to do this exclusively with infantry! Bring up the flamethrowers!” A team of five flamethrower troopers come in. CDF personnel start putting on their gasmasks as they start incinerating the cave ahead. “Clear it out!” Right, they'll light the way, you'll follow. In goes an entire company of CDF troopers plus you five. The caves are covered in rocky pikes sticking out of the ceiling and out of the ground. Bugs and Skinnies could be hiding anywhere. To help along the flametroopers, Rosalie stands behind them with the motion scanner, helping on smoking out anything that even breathes in front of them. You manage to get what seems to be 100 meters.“Wait!” says Rosalie. “I got movement.” You all pause. “Lots of bogeys coming in around us.” The CDF troopers raise their pulse rifles, turning on flashlights and scanning around. “They're uh... they're moving, I can't see them.” You turn on your NV. Where are they?[1/2]
>>917429[2/2]Suddenly, you hear a loud buzz noise. Out of a hole in the wall comes a flying Arachnid. It pounces on the nearest CDF trooper. “AGH! AAH!” The trooper is immediately dragged into the hole kicking and screaming.“Wh- what the fuck was that?!” yells Stacy.“Juvenile Consort,” says Burkett. “Lots of them.” They start flying out of the walls, immediately pouncing on all of you.> ARACHNID JUVENILE CONSORTS <> Consorts are a caste of Arachnid entirely, the only caste permitted to mate with the Queens. Before that happens however, Juvenile Consorts prove themselves in combat alongside warriors. Their specific niche is possessing wings and an incredibly bloodthirsty attitude, with or without weapons. <As more CDF troopers are pounced and dragged away to their deaths, you start popping Consorts left and right. Suddenly, Skinnies pop out of spider holes, spraying Constrictor gel at all of you. One poor Trooper is hit square in the face, and is suffocated in seconds."Get some! Get some! Yeah, baby! WOOO!" Olga screams out as her Smart Gun sprays more Skinnies, pasting them to pieces.“We're surrounded!” yells Captain Allers. “Get-” A Consort catches him up. “Ah! No! NO! AAGH!” He's dragged away by a pair of Bugs.> Retreat, retreat!> Push through!> Hold your ground!> Other

>>917442> Push through!Chuck a grenade or two into a nearby hole.
>>917442> Push through!Well, here's the messy part. Not much in the way of tactics to be had in this, just fight and kill, keep moving and try to stick together.
> Push through!“Don't stop, we got to push through!” A CDF Trooper is suddenly plucked right out next to you. “Shit!” You spray your MPAR wildly in any direction. You're bound to hit something! “Flamethrowers, clear those holes, now!” They nod, getting cover from fellow troopers as they advance on the spider holes. One by one, they start burning out the Skinnies and the Consorts with liquid fire. The Skinnies and Consorts squeal and scream as the napalm sticks and burns at their skin. No less than they deserve all things considered.“Charlie, one on the left!” yells Morgan. A Consort lands down, spraying a Plasma pistol wildly at everybody, scoring some hits on your girls. Not today according to Charlie. She rushes at it, then jumps onto its back to pin it down. And just as quickly, she sprays a burst from her Pulse rifle at her feet, shredding its head and body to pieces underneath her. Damn. Those are some moves. Reckless, but they're moves.“On your left, Rosie!” shouts Stacy. Rosalie pops a Skinny trying to charge with a spear. “Nice kill! Nice kill!”Your rapidly dwindling company of CDF troopers and squad of MI Idols start advancing. Soon, you see a light at the end of the tunnel. Which is immediately drowned out by hordes of Skinnies and Warriors coming in to reinforce. “Stand back!” screams Olga. Her micromissile racks pop up from her shoulders. “MISSILES AWAY!”A spread of micromissiles fire away, and immediately smoke the area in intense cluster explosions. The horde is rapidly blown to bits. And the survivors?“Bring in the flamethrowers!” yells a CDF Sergeant. The flamethrower team immediately sprays them down, the survivors sent running, screaming and screeching in intense pain. “Don't shoot! Let the bastards burn!” They run out of the cave in agony, rolling themselves down on the rocky ground, trying to put themselves out. You finally breach out to the light. Now in your sights, not 100 meters away are the giant AO Guns. Their massive barrels have long rails which glow blue, the plasma conductors can which send them directly into orbit. The Warrior Bugs and the Skinnies are hurrying down to the trenches for some close quarters combat. “Come on, let's go!” yells Rosalie. You all charge out of the cave and into the open. More CDF troopers are pasted by rapid plasma fire before they hit the trench. You check on Charlie as she makes it in. All of her sisters are okay.Lucky them.A squad of CDF troopers flame out and grenade out a bunker full of Skinnies. “Get some grenades in there go!” They drop grenades in, exploding the poor aliens to little giblets.“Hey!” yells Charlie. “Watch out! 30 mil! 30 mil!” Oh fuck, a 30 mil!?[1/2]
>>917637[2/2]The Warrior Bugs quickly cart in a 30 mil AA Cannon. It has a single red hot barrel. Fires hypervelocity plasma rounds at rapid rate. It can easily pierce suit armor. “Get down!” you yell to the girls. Unfortunately for the CDF squad, they're immediately blown to giblets like the aliens they just blew out. Heads explode, arms are lopped off by the powerful rounds. Stacy and Rosalie head down into the trenches to escape the fire. “Olga!” you scream.Olga keeps spraying the lines. “Yeah! Get some!” The 30mil immediately tracks her. OH FUCK.“Olga!” Burkett tackles her down into a crater. The shots explode against the lip of the crater. “Shit! Are you okay!?”“Whoa, what happened!?” says Olga.“Just stay down!” Burkett huffs.> Keep to the trenches and clear this place by the book.> Go vertical. >>917647> Keep to the trenches and clear this place by the book."When someone says get down, Olga, YOU GET DOWN. ASAP."
>>917692I think there was actually a scene in the book like that. Ended up getting the guy kicked out of boot for not following a basic order. Their training was too short. This is why we're having the issue.
>>917683we know where the gun isjust spred out befor jump and all shot at it as we come up easly done
>>917714You're probably thinking of the guy who, when the order came to freeze in place, ended up on top of an anthill. And when he wouldn't stay put, the drill sergeant tackled him down, and he came up swinging and popped Zim one in the eye.
>>917714Yeah, that's gotta be nipped in the bud somehow. We could train them by carrying a bucketful of water balloons and randomly screaming, "GET DOWN" every half-hour or so. Anyone who doesn't duck gets splashed.Particularly useful now that we have AC in our ship.
>>917739That sounds right. And he'd have been fine and they'd have let it slide if his stupid ass hadn't of gone to command and outright said, "Course I hit him and disobeyed a direct order!"
> Keep to the trenches and clear this place by the book. You jump your way into the trench, smashing a Skinny underneath your boots. “Rosie! Stacy! Come on!” They get p from their positions, hurrying over to you. While, CDF Troopers toss grenades and flame out hard points, you'll be tip of the spear. Unfortunately, due to the low heigt of this trench and the continual suppressive fire of that 30mil, you'll have to hunch over. And hunching over even in a Marauder is absolutely horrific. “Agh, my back!” yells Stacy.“S-... suck it up!” says Rosalie, clearly not comfortable with it either.A pair of Warriors come out of a hole in front of you, wielding plasma rifles. You quickly paste them both with your MPAR. The second still however twitches and rolls around. “Wh- why's that one still moving!?” yells Stacy.“I didn't hit the nerve case,” you say. You quickly plant another shot in. It stops moving. “Now I did.” They quickly follow you once you get moving again. Occasionally some dust and smoke will come over the top from the 30 mil blasting at you. Another good case to stay down. Suddenly a CDF Trooper comes off the top and falls down on Stacy. Half of him at least.“Augh, fuck,” says Stacy.“Keep calm,” you say. Stacy steels herself, following after you and abandoning the corpse. You spy some blood on her suit, not hers thankfully. Just from that corpse. A squad of Skinnies come out of what appears to be a headquarters. “Smoke 'em!” The three of you line up. What follows next is an absolute firing line as you rip them apart with magnetic pulse fire. To add insult to injury, Stacy fires a Y-Rack grenade into the tunnel, and you hear screams of more Skinnies when it explodes. “Good shots, keep going!”“This is Bravo 2!” yells a CDF Operator on comms. “We're advancing on the AO guns now! AA guns on our side clear!”“Alpha 1! Range Rovers advancing now!” Shit, the 30mil is gonna rip them apart. You, Stacy, and Rosalie pop out of the trench, not 10 meters away. The Bugs all look at you, surprised, their gun completely in the wrong direction. They immediately bolt for it.“Oh no you don't!” You bounce up and smash one of the Bugs under foot. Stacy and Rosalie finish off the rest of the gun crew as well, leaving the 30mil intact. More CDF Troopers and Range Rovers pour out of the caves towards the trenches.“Alpha 1 reporting enemy in full retreat!” Skinnies and Bugs start running through the trenches, trying to find escape as their positions collapse entirely. CDF Troopers are not far behind, chasing them over the top and finally cornering them. The Skinnies raise their hands, understanding the universal sign for surrender. “Get them! Get them!” They start spraying the surrendering Skinnies, shooting them up. The Bugs receive no better, getting burnt to a crisp by both pulse rifles and flamethrowers.[1/2]
>>917908[2/2]Isolated Skinnies pop out of craters, begging for mercy, but the CDF quickly put an end to that. You see more CDF Troopers bayonet or beat several Skinnies to death just for having the gall to surrender. You find Charlie and her sisters putting down wounded Bugs and Skinnies, and quickly join with them. “Charlie!” She looks back at you, panting heavily, sweat and a bit of blood dripping down her forehead. She looks down at one of the wounded Bugs, and it skitters helplessly. One of its legs is blown off, and an eye is torn out, probably a grenade. It raises a leg to Charlie.Who immediately blasts its face apart with her Pulse Rifle. “Fuck you! Fuck you! AND FUCK YOU!” She gets sprayed with green blood from the bug, rendering its head an amorphous mess. She gets held back by Stacy.“Calm down!” yells Stacy. “It's dead!”Charlie pants heavily, her sisters as well dropping all pretenses of being girls. They continue to slash and kick beaten Skinnies and Arachnids to death to save on ammo. Charlie glares at Stacy. “Look how far we got without suits,” she mutters. Stacy looks at her, confused. Charlie nods to the Bug. “They ain't much to look at when you scrape them off your boot.” Charlie pushes past Stacy.Olga and Burkett come over. “You two okay?” you ask. Burkett nods.“We made it,” says Rosalie. “W-... was anyone hurt?” You shake your head. Rosalie giggles, a few tears coming out of her eyes. “Oh my God. We made it!” She immediately hugs Stacy, her suit creaking a bit. Stacy pats Rosalie on the back. The two of them groan, content with victory. “That felt so good.”Olga hugs the two of them as well tight. “We got some!” They start laughing in triumph as they stand over the defeated bodies of both Arachnids and Skinnies.“All in all,” says Burkett. “They did pretty good for a week's worth of training.”> “Imagine if they had the full course.”> “Thank you for saving Olga, Burkett.”> “This is just the start.”> Other
>>917912> “Imagine if they had the full course.”> “Thank you for saving Olga, Burkett.”
>>917912> “Thank you for saving Olga, Burkett.”
>>917912> “Thank you for saving Olga, Burkett.”The point isn't how far you got without suits meat head. It's how far you could get with them.
>>917912>> “Thank you for saving Olga, Burkett.”y dose no one like to use the jump jetsand fight with the suits liek there a big mech suit and not acting liek a normaly cdf meber???
>>917963Because they're firing anti-aircraft weapons. If we had done the jumps we'd have had a real risk of losing someone.Running through the trenches isn't fun. But it's safer.Jumping was literally, "play to the large cannons advantage."Schteel may have to remind me but these suits are more like power armor and less like mechs if I recall correctly.
>>917983They are more like powered armor rather than mechs, which is why they are almost always referred to as suits rather than mech. A suit can do a lot of a things, it's a space suit, a suit of armor, a somewhat flying hunk of metal, and it has a shitload of inbuilt arms. But it is not invincible.
>>917983wasnt going to be standing still and fireing be jum;ing around, it would take time to aim and fire and since we know where it was posted we could have moved around the holes, then jet jumped over it fireing downmech was the wrong word, power suits, we can do things that the cdf cant do should act like it or even just jump and land on top of the gunwe arnt here to play with the grunuts we got ot hit key points then move on mi with super powered suits with grands, jacked up rail guns nad missle we could have used durning the jump hell could have one of the suits used there jump jets to make a cloud to provide cover for the others to jump and take out the aa guns
>>918045It's an anti-aircraft gun. It might even be built to shred the suits in particular. That was a risky option and could have cost us a squad. We're not just federation troopers. We've got the idols. We need them alive for morale. I understand what you're saying. I disagree. We stayed to the cover we had and eliminated the gun never giving it a chance to shoot at us.
>>918045Anon. Anti-Aircraft weapons are SPECIFICALLY MADE to deal with things flying around in the air. Like us if we were jumping. I don't know if this universe's enemies use guided weapon systems, but it's a pretty good chance that they do. And if they locked on one of us, that trooper would have a guided missile tracking them to shoot them out of the sky. And even if we dodged those, we would still have to have dealt with their 30mm, WITHOUT any CDF forces to take the fire off us and with no cover.
>>918045I'd like to point out that, even with the absolutely ancient equipment that the CDF is using, it's still early 21st Century equipment at minimum. And all of our anti-aircraft guns are radar-guided and computer-controlled, even if they do have a gun crew. What makes you think that the 30mil and other anti-aircraft weapons don't have radar fire-control?Shit, radar fire-control systems have been around since WW2.
>>918068we also need to be seen doing cool shit that only beaning in a suit can make you do and be able to sing about it making heroes and getting more peopel to join is the whole point of what we are doing and we can also find more idlos.>>918070how close was the aa guns to us? i dont think they fire when your close to them and i dont think we would be jumping high enguh to count as flying.we dont fly we jump and all we had to do was take out the 30mm and then the cdf could have charged drawing fire from us as we prance around wreckaging shit or even better deal with the 30mm then jump over to the aa guns.also i want the suits and girls to be seen doing shit got to inspire people.>>918080ummm arnt the guns made from the bugs?? so might not have the same thigns as us, also do aa guns fire on the ground or when targets are clsoe to them?since we would be higher enguh to really traget and seince we are jump we can fall back to the ground into the holes to doge as wellthe 30mm was the only thing keeping the cdf from take the aa gun
> “Thank you for saving Olga, Burkett.”You nod to him. “Thanks for saving Olga, Burkett.”“Hey, you don't let troopers hang,” he says. Really. That's rich coming from him. You won't bring it up though. Let him have his day.“How many did you kill?” asks Olga.“I don't know, probably two maybe, I think.”“I got at least five,” says Stacy. “What about you, Olga?”“Twenty.” They stare at her. “Twenty. I swear. Hand on my heart.” She places a hand on her heart. “I got at least twenty Bugs in that engagement. As a Tanker, I really love my job now. Didn't think I would but I love it.” The girls all start laughing at each other, coming off of their adrenaline high. “And look at Miss Warface over here.” She gently shoves Stacy. “I thought you'd be vomiting at the first sight of battle, now look at you!”You look around at everything, and you see CDF troopers beginning to police bodies or loot corpses. Some CDF troopers in particular are carving up the chitin from Arachnid exoskeletons, probably to take home as trophies. Some go for antennae or for the pedipalps. It's much more brutal than you're used to. But you're not going to stop them. They just watched dozens, if not hundreds of their fellow men and women be killed, a lot of whom were barely in their teens. They've got every right to do what they want to the Bugs. It's not like the Bugs would treat you any better.Still though. You were actually starting to come down off your adrenaline. Wow. You haven't felt this way in quite a while. This was different from Mars, that's for sure. All the dust has been shaken off. Now you were cooking with gas. You were back to being a trooper again. You grin, laughing a bit. “What are you laughing at?” asks Burkett.“I don't know,” you say. “It's just...” You shudder a bit. “... I feel fucking amazing.”Burkett snickers. “Welcome back to the War, Lieutenant.”You look up at the giant AO gun as the CDF troopers start to police it and clear it out of any survivors. Overhead you see their ancient Conestoga-class vessels start to come into view in the sky, flying over the battlefield to indicate that yes, you have driven the Bugs off of this planet once and for all. And goddamn it felt fucking amazing. No wonder the Colonials fuck like rabbits, you missed this feeling back in the MI where it was all professional and what not. Here, the fighting is just so primal, so barbaric. And it amazing.
That's it for tonight. As it turns out, I may not have to go to work tomorrow, so maybe on Friday we'll have an earlier run. We'll see.I'm around to answer questions as usual.Follow at: https://twitter.com/GermanSchteelAsk at: http://germanschteel.tumblr.com/Book Tumbles: http://germanschteelbookblog.tumblr.com/See you next time.
>>918105How primitive to advanced were the Bug AA guns and 30mil?Like some AA systems, did they have a setting for firing on low ground targets as well as high flying ones?
>>918105Thanks for running Schteel, oorah and whatnot.
>>918105Can we get Naka training to be a liaison?
>>918105thanks and looking fawrd to it as i dont have to work till 3.30 pm hope to get you at teh start.also how much would jumping around and acting like peopel wearing powered suits have fucked us over?also would have the aa guns been able to fire on us?im thinking the aa gun would have been to big to fire on the ground since its might to take out ships in sace right?
>>918128>im thinking the aa gun would have been to big to fire on the ground since its might to take out ships in sace right? That's just the Anti-Orbital gun, not the AA guns that were ringing it and keeping it safe from the Huscarls and us.Holy shit, could you not tell them apart?
>>918136English might not be his first language.
>>918136they coudl double up as both?depanding on how the bugs do it.but yer i sorta mesed them up.still though i think the aa wouldnt have been able to hit us ether way.
>>918117Arachnid AA guns are relatively modern. While they aren't too big on guided missiles (guided missiles being the realm of unconventional atmospheres), Arachnids (the smart castes at least) are natural mathematicians which means they can switch seamlessly from using their AA to shoot air targets to focus on ground ones as well. The anti-orbital batteries are a bit older but the Arachnids make up for it by deploying them in batteries of usually thirty (twelve-fifteen in the case of Plasma Mountain). The location and height of Plasma Mountain would've allowed the AO guns to strike orbital targets on the other side of the planet, and in a pinch they can be used as extreme long range artillery.>>9181281. I have a policy of not stating what happens in alternate choices.2. Refer to #1.3. Those are the Anti-Orbital Guns.>>918147The Anti-Orbital guns could not hit you, you were point blank and each gun is the size of a building.
>>918147If it's a 30mm Anti Aircraft gun and they've been fighting the federation for a long time. It's probably tooled to hit small aircraft and suits. That's probably it's job. Firing it at infantry was the odd job. I seriously doubt a 30mm gun can fire into space.
>>918143noop just suck at spelling
>>918163You were asking us to jump in front of a bug version of this:https://youtu.be/gDQlVPKCcjU?t=15
>>918157Is a Bug 30mil AA gun's ability to track a moving up to the task of tracking and shooting down a suit in flight, given that the AA gun is designed to track and shoot down things that are faster?
>>918157Actually, are the Bug AA guns radar-controlled, or manually targeted?Since you mention the smart castes, that means that they have a technician caste Bug controlling the AA, and it might as well be a computer given how fast it can calculate ballistic trajectories in three-dimensional environments, correct?
>>918157okthats fine for meguise we will naver knowthough still wnaa see the girls doing ausome/ badass shit in the suits>>918158still need to aim and then fire would have been distoryed with all the suits shooting at it.wouldnt have done muchbut whats the point of having the sutis if your just going to fight like a cdf trooper?>>918157soo the lt is going to get drunk then party with some cdf tropers?? or going to tag team azuma with his ex gf?
>>918125Missed you. Yeah, Naka can eventually be trained to be Fleet Groundside Liaison. She just needs a suit of her own (usually FGLs utilize modified Scout suits so they can handle the portable orbital relays.)>>918183Suits in flight are actually incredibly predictable owing to the fact that they're not the most aerodynamic thing. You're also trained to make high jumps in one direction and ONLY one direction to save fuel. Spend the fuel to jump, spend a little to brake, that's it. Using jump jets to strafe and leap about more horizontally is generally reserved for tighter quarters or for a bigger threat. It's equivalent to how in Halo 3, Brute Rangers would make high jumps in incredible predictable but incredibly high leaps.>>918183>>918195Arachnid AA weapons are generally crewed, but can be radar-controlled as well.Arachnid technician castes are generally just incredibly smart workers or warriors plucked from the fold to serve in the gun crews.>>918199LT is not for lewds. She's not even cute.
>>918199I'm not saying the jumping tactic wouldn't have worked. I'm saying it would have put our girls at risk. They can acquire targets incredibly quickly, it's what they're built to do, and it would have obliterated a suit if it hit.We may have wiped it out instantly. Or it could have taken a bit, it shredded one of the girls, then got blown up.It wasn't worth the risk. Our entire squad is filled with what are essentially VIPs.
>>918199Do you not understand how fast a 30mm anti-air gun can traverse? They're designed to shoot down aircraft, which wold be moving around way faster than any suit.
>>918199>still need to aim and then fire would have been distoryed with all the suits shooting at it.>wouldnt have done muchSuits are incredibly easy to shoot out of the sky. Also, the idols have had reduced training, and whether they could perform any kind of horizontal jumps or mid-air course changes is questionable at best.>>918207GS, for future combat actions, have the idols gotten any maneuvering training on their jump jets similar to what Rico had in the book, being able to change direction in mid-air, or being able to use short, horizontal bursts to ping-pong around? Is Bug AA a real danger to an experienced MI? Given how much combat that the LT has seen, has she seen the tactic of bouncing around with jump jets actually work against Bug AA?I want to lean on the LT's combat experience more.
>>918207While it obviously would be highly improbable to do, has there been any talks about sending the colonies older model suits, or setting up a manufacturing factory to build them, for CDF use? If it's possible to even manufacture them, even if it's just for elite CDF units, how difficult would it be politically to convince the conservative elements to start producing them?
>>918207she is the cutest everand you german schteel is for lewds.ok so we could dart around in the air like i thoguht we could but still...>>918222acquire targets fast, is hat when its controled by computers? couse it had a crew maning it,who dares winyes the vip thing is true but we cant always play it safe the fed is about doing your best and uttign your life on the line to save the man next to youetc, also it would have been cooler on my end.>>918231i admit i thought the jumping around voer the place would have been easyer turns out i was wrong, all they would have to do would be to surpifes fire on the gun and the gun crew couldnt fire/.hmm mybe in flashbacks or something we could see Lt combat past.also we should put on a show for all the cdf and other people that want to join in to congrats on kicking out the rest of the bugs.
>>918246they would have to buy the suitsthe fed dosnt get them for freerember one of the girls dads owns a comapny that makes the suits could work out a deal??oh that reminds me we can have mods do the the girls sutis as well to add things to it, like bettter jumping and things etc
>>918231Ping ponging around and changing direction mid-air is usually taught in the later stages of suit training (something that the Idols missed out on). Even so, it's generally advised, at least in this stage of the war to keep to one direction to save on fuel.More experienced MI troopers ignore this however. Bouncing around with jump jets does work against AA, but it demands an incredible amount of luck and you getting the drop on the AA guns. The usual tactic for taking down AA guns is to strike them from long range with the shoulder mount rail guns though in a pinch, a well trained MI squad can clear entire AA fields ping ponging and bouncing around. It's generally just preferred to er on the side of caution. Will be something to train the girls in later though.>>918246The situation regarding CDF using suits is that suits are incredibly difficult to train in. It doesn't fit the profile of the CDF who are intended to raise troops quickly to respond to a threat. (which technically is no longer true considering many CDF personnel have been fighting for years now like General Landis). That alone is what keeps most conservatives firmly against the CDF having suits. The closest thing the CDF has to suits are juryrigged powerloaders, similar to sticking a gun on a tractor. In this case, these powerloaders serve as support and engineering duty while also equipped to handle a Tau Cannon and crushing hydraulic clamps.
>>918262>a well trained MI squad can clear entire AA fields ping ponging and bouncing around. Is that with the old high-quality Marauder suits, or with the now-standard Paladins?>>918250The Bug AA guns, even while manned, can still target and fire on a moving trooper far easier than on a much faster flying jet.>>918262Do Bug AA guns have the gunnery crew exposed, or are they more like the Tunguska, a self-propelled and armored gun?
>>9182711. The high quality Marauders can definitely ping pong around with the best of them. Paladins less-so, much less maneuverable and more sluggish in comparison.2. AA Guns vary depending on role. The 30mil you faced was an exposed usually fixed AA gun that was carted into battle as a desperate measure.Self-propelled armored AA does exist for the Arachnids and is used when the Arachnids are on the offensive and need to cover themselves from TAC fighters and flanking MI troops.Larger caliber AA guns are reserved for high flying TAC fighters or atmosphere flying starships. These are nearly always fixed or on wheeled platforms.
>>918271would be with the older sutis,as the new paladins can only realy jump one way, they are pretty much a cut back suit wich is way we got the girls the older better marauder suits.ummm dosnt having something maned mean that you need a person or this case skingy/bug to manually fire the weapon??? unman 30 mm aa gun would be able to fire without people controlling it but it had a gun crew soo needs someone to pull the leaver to fire.
>>9182621. So basically, the main reason why the CDF can't get suits is because the powers that be don't realize that the basic idea behind the branch needs to be revised or updated to fit the reality?2. Those juryrigged powerloaders sound wicked sweet. Please tell me loader fights are considered a local sport.Final questions: What is the PM's opinion on the CDF eventually being able to use true suits? And how willing would Colonial troopers be to use them?
>>9182961. Yep.2. It's one way to pass the time for CDF Troopers beyond having sex and farming.3. The Prime Minister was actually the driving force behind creating the CDF during the war when she was just a senator. The original idea was that CDF would be able to wear suits, have much more modern (but still surplus and outdated equipment) AND the CDF be considered a Federal Service and thus a path to citizenship. However, the conservative base cut it down to its current incarnation citing logistics woes and the idea that "sitting around on a base all day while the real war happens elsewhere" is not how one earns citizenship. As for whether or not they'd be willing to use them, anything to keep them living another day. Though many would resent the idea as much as they resent having to get help from the MI (and vice versa).
>>918311Almost all modern AA systems use radar fire control. When you say that the Bugs have manned AA guns and gunnery crews, does that mean that their gunnery crews don't use radar but their insect senses and their technician's natural mathematical ability to replace the functions of a radar fire control system, or do you mean that they have fully autonomous AA gun systems and a manned AA gun just means there's a crew to reload, clear jams, and prioritize targets? If the latter case, then it doesn't matter if there's a Bug or Skinny operating the gun, there's still a radar and a computer that's locking on to a target, aiming the gun, and firing.
>>918339A bit of the former, a bit of the latter. It's more of a system of redundancies. They have radar fire control for AA guns, but they also back it up with instinct and natural mathematical ability in the event that somehow fails. A lot of Arachnid tech has weird quirks like that but the general philosophy of their technology is centered around redundancy, right down to their biology. Even if you blast their head and brain off, they're not completely dead until you destroy the nerve case (and even then, that still doesn't guarantee a kill, it just means they wildly flail around until the body shuts down).
>>918349So the 30mil would have been using a computer and radar to lock on, track, and fire upon us and the idols if we had decided to use our jump jets. And it's something we need to consider in the future, as well.Is that right? And Arachnids don't feel fear (at least their Warrior caste), so suppressive fire doesn't work on them, does it?
>>918361Quite possibly. As for Arachnids feeling fear. They do not feel fear as we definite it. At the very least, they're smart enough to understand when a situation is unwinnable and can retreat (though if they are ordered to go to their deaths, they will).Arachnid Warriors do have a thing against suppressive fire, and they will actively seek to protect themselves if the numbers are equal or against them.
>>918370>Arachnid Warriors do have a thing against suppressive fire, and they will actively seek to protect themselvesBut does that extend to stop the firing of an AA gun?But that's redundant, isn't it, since the gun can still target, track, and fire without manual intervention.I want to know for future reference if suppressive fire against guns is something that would even work.

“Yeah. Yeah.” General Landis stands next to one of his command Range Rovers, a six wheeled vehicle with nothing more than a tarp covering a back and a ring mount for a Tau Cannon. You stand by, waiting for him to become available as he goes over things with his subordinate officers. “Well, listen, you tell your men that we're going to keep sweeping the mountain I am guaranteed no more Bug Holes are down here. I want no stone unturned. We'll stay here all year if we have to. You got that? Any worker or any Skinny I find not having its guts spilled out on the ground is a strike against y'all, alright? Okay. Landis out.” He places the receiver back on the dashboard, then looks to you. “Lieutenant.”“General.” You salute him as a show of politeness, still standing in your I-Suit. “I'm happy to report that all of our Idols are A-OK, and we're ready to take Charlie off of your hands.”“Alright,” he rasps. He tips his helmet up, glaring around at the scene on the mountain. The AO gun is busy being worked over by CDF engineers, to be captured and repurposed in the planets own defensive battery. “That's fine.”“Were casualties bad?” you ask.“They're always bad,” he mutters. “We lose hundreds of good people every day to the Arachnids whenever they raid us. The stuff we use is just never enough. Not the Range Rovers, not Powerloaders, not anything.” He folds his arms, turning his glare to you. “So what makes you think this Idol program is going to help any?” he asks.“The idea is propaganda, get people to join. Once people join, get money flowing in. We can push back against the Bugs and win this war,” he says.“Just like they said you captured that Queen?” he asks. As if being pushed, you step back. Ouch. “I don't deny what you've done for the Federation, Lieutenant. But I think right now, we'll be lucky to end this war in ten years with a draw.” He huffs, shaking his head. “I digress. Good luck with your propaganda effort, Lieutenant.” He offers his hand to you. “If you're ever on Myrmido again, you drop by my office and say hi.”You shake his hand. “Thank you, General.”“If you need anything else, I'm here. Right now, we're establishing a new camp on this mountain.”> Walk and talk with the General, get an eye for how the CDF operates.> Go find Charlie, tell her the time's come.> Find the Idols, see what they're doing.> Other

> Go find Charlie, tell her the time's come.--“Charlie!” You find Charlie being accosted by several boys and girls. What the...“Charlie...” One of the girls rests her head on her lap, looking up into Charlie's eyes. Another girl hugs Charlie from behind, gently whispering things into her ears. Oh. Wow. “You're so strong, so brave. How do you do it?”“Simple, having the rest of you with me,” says Charlie. “It's not much of a question.” Wow, some natural charisma on her. Where was that during the audition?“Ehehe!” The girl giggles, tipping her cap down to shade her face from Charlie. “Ooh, you're embarrassing me.”“Hey, Charlie.” One of the boys steps up to her, quirking his brow. “How about we celebrate later tonight?”“Hey, she's mine!” says the girl hugging her.“Oi, all of you.” You fold your arms. They look at you with some element of disgust. Except for Charlie. “Scram. I need to talk to her.” They grumble, stepping away and going about their business. “Charlie. Guess what. General Landis has given his approval. You're going to be a Starship Idol. How about that?”Charlie's smile turns into a bit of a frown. “Well.” She shrugs. “I don't know how to dance or be... Idol-ish. I mean, look at me.” Charlie motions to herself. She's wearing the frumpiest fatigues beneath her kevlar plates and a helmet concealing that dirty blonde hair of hers. Given a week or two of makeup and wardrobe, she'd look absolutely princely though. “I'm pretty sure half the guys are confused as to why they really want to fuck me. And the other half don't question it at all.”“Right.” You nod. “So you'll go?”“We made an agreement. You helped us take Plasma Mountain.” She nods. “Fine... I'll go. But can I pack a few things and have a proper goodbye to the family? I live back in the Capital. We can take a Huscarl there then come back here to celebrate with the others.”> “Sure. >>920018>> “Sure. But no celebrating, we leave after you pack.”
> “Sure. I'll bring my assistant, he'll carry your things for you.”--General Landis has kindly requisitioned a Huscarl craft and its pilots to you for personal transport for the day. Charlie, her three sisters, your Idols, Burkett, and Mills step aboard. Your civilian staff will be by the mountain camp where hopefully you'll be celebrating the victory with them all. But for now, you'll just be helping Charlie pack things. The Huscarl is loud and proud as it flies over the green, yet incredibly scarred lands of Myrmido. Creeks hold wrecks of vehicles and dried out husks of Arachnid exoskeletons. Fields are still covered in craters which slowly grow back their natural grass, forming hills and sunken ditches. And corpses left to waste away in the sun are long gone, pecked at by alien birds of the planet, and in their place red flowers growing where the ground was disturbed. You have to say, of all the places you'd want to retire when the war ends, Myrmido was pretty high on your list. Mars was up there too as well you suppose, Sanctuary as well.“There it is!” Charlie points out the side to show you a farm amongst farms. There you see a large farmhouse nestled amongst acres of corn. Charlie, Dylan, Alexis, and Morgan all gasp in awe of seeing their farm from this high up. There you can see several people step out of the house onto the porch. And from there, you begin your landing. Charlie grabs her dufflebag. “Mom, Dad!” Charlie drops off and hurries through the long pathway on the lawn to the waiting arms of her mother and father. The three of them hug it out, her dirty uniform messing up her mother and father's formerly clean clothes. “Ahaha!” The other three sisters join in. Pretty soon, you see Charlie's family all join in as well.All... twenty of them. Whoa. “Wow. Never seen a family this big,” says Olga.“The colonies encourage having lots of kids as a form of cheap labor,” says Rosalie. “Before the Arachnids came, it was probably much bigger.” Yeah.Charlie turns around, smiling at you. “Girls. Lieutenant. Mills, Burkett. This is the Serrano Family. My Mom, my Dad, my three sisters, my two other little sisters Jane and Millie.” The two little girls no older than ten wave at you happily. “My three big brothers, Hal, Francis, and Louis..” They all look at the girls, smiling happily. “My cousin George. My second cousin Victor.” The two older cousins nod to you. “My aunt Viv, my Uncle Steve. My Grandpa Joe and my Granny Smith. My great grandpa Dell. My nephew Phil and my niece Leila. And my other second cousin Eddie.”Mister Serrano shakes your hand. “You all must be beat. The boys were busy placing more and more scrambled eggs, toasted bread, slices of chicken, and mashed potatoes on your plate. “Guys, come on. I'm on a diet here.”“Hey, I love my women with a bit of plump to them,” says Hal. “Means they're healthy!” George bumps him, and the two laugh a bit at each other as they keep pouring more food on your plate. Aw, come on. Mills, goddamn it. He's busy helping Charlie pack. What about Burkett?Burkett is surrounded by Charlie's sisters and her aunt. “So, Stratton,” says Aunt Viv as she pours him a tall glass of sweet tea. “Tell us, what's the MI like? How many bugs did you kill out there?” Burkett can only really stare at Aunt Viv's heaving bosom before he's brought back to reality. How? By you throwing a piece of chicken at him. “Ah! W- well. It's a job, it's a tough job. But you're rewarded the way you should be,” he says. “That's... yeah.” Textbook answer, Burkett.“So what did lil Charlotte do?” asks Mister Serran as you sit at his dinner table. You look out to see Olga and Rosalie playing around with the younger sisters while Stacy simply watches by, not being very interested in fooling around to pass the time.“Nothing. If anything, Charlie is just what we need,” you say. “See. The Starship Idols program is a propaganda effort. We're trying to enlist more people into the MI and into the Federal Fleet. Your little girl can help us by probably helping expand efforts towards the CDF as well. Help it be taken seriously by the big boys upstairs,” you explain. The parents look quite nervous. Even the cousins and brothers try to dance around it as they busy themselves washing dishes and serving up food.“Well, I want my little girls to leave the planet one day,” says Misses Serrano. “Are you sure you can't take all the girls?”“Hey, what about us?” asks Hal.[1/2]

We're just out for ourselves here. Federation might as well be a ghost.”“I see.” You lean back in your seat. “Well, listen. I promise to take good care of Charlie, okay?” They nod. “I'm an experienced MI Officer. I've led troopers into battle before, she won't be any different. All she has to do is sing and fight. Not much else.”“Right, right.” Mister Serrano frowns deeply, grumbling. “Well, Lieutenant. That's good of you to at least take one of our kids. She'll be missed though.”Misses Serrano leans forward on the table, concerned. “She can write us though, right?” You nod. “Oh thank goodness. I thought that'd be one of those secretive type things.”“It's really not,” you say.Charlie steps down the stairs into the dining room. “Um. I'll make sure to use a condom every time I want to have sex with a boy.” They all nod in complete dead seriousness. “Girls... well, it'll be safer with girls I suppose. I won't try anything with the other Idols though, I'm not sure if they're into that.”“Shame,” says Cousin George.“Yeah. We had a lot of good times, Charlie,” says Cousin Victor. What does he mean by that. “Take care.” The two give each other gentle pecks on the cheek.“Are you sure you'll be okay?” asks Alexis. “I know we got you into this but-”“I'll be fine. You just enjoy getting off this little rock of ours.”“It's a really pretty rock, Mom,” Charlie declares. “Just... goodbye, okay?” The two hug it out, with Mom sniffling a little. She's really trying to hold back some tears. “Alexis, Dylan, Morgan. You two stay alive.” She points to them, frowning. “When I get back home, we're going to go fishing, alright?”“Okay,” says Alexis. The sisters hug each other one by one. “We'll take care of the little ones too.”Oh God, you have to burp. Hold it in.“Come on, let's get the girls outside, then you can go,” says Misses Serrano. Everyone steps out of the Dining Room. And finally, you burp loudly and proudly. Oh Thank God. You smile in relief, then look... at Burkett. He stares at you as if you just stomped on a baby. You glare at him. “What are you looking at?”--“Good bye!” They all wave goodbye as you step onto the Huscarl. Olga takes Charlie's hand on helps onboard while Mills and Burkett take up the dufflebags of Charlie's stuff. “See you later!” yells one of the young kids. The sisters as well get on to rally back with their unit. The Huscarl takes off back to Plasma Mountain.Charlie sits quietly as she stares out at the scenery. “Hey. Don't worry,” says Olga. “You're going to love it.”“Yeah!” says Dylan. “Come on, Charlie!”Charlie looks back, still moping quietly. But her look of sadness puts a blush right on Rosalie and Olga's faces. Are they... getting turned on by her? “S-.. sorry, it's just an emotional moment for me.” Charlie wipes a bit of a tear out of her eye. “I'm glad, don't worry. Listen, we'll all celebrate back at Plasma Mountain, it'll be a good time, then we can leave, right?”You nod. “Yep. How do the CDF celebrate?”[1/2

You all were overwhelmed, and you can clearly see your civilian staff by their own table, clearly uncomfortable by how forward and how loud things were getting. “This is how you celebrate a victory like this?” you ask Alexis.“Work hard! Play hard!” She throws off her armor and unbuttons her top to show off more cleavage. “Come on!” The sisters join in immediately, happily laughing and shouting. You quickly kneel down by the cooler and grab yourself some bottles of whiskey. Hehehe! You snap them open and quickly chug an entire bottle down. Auuuugh that's good whiskey, yes sir. You quickly wipe your mouth, then look at Azuma. He stares at you disapprovingly. “Fuck are you looking at?”He sighs, rolling his eyes. “Nothing.” He turns around and goes back to the table. You look to see Charlie, who's dragged off to party with her sisters. Fair is fair, hehe. Burkett as well grabs a whiskey.“Burkett, you're on fire watch,” you declare. “Make sure nothing happens with the girls, okay?”He looks down at his bottle, then sighs. He shoves it into the hands of a CDF trooper. “Alright, fine, Lieutenant. I got my own accommodation right here.” And to answer that point, Rosalie turns over and wraps her arm around you sleepily. “Get out of here, you two. I don't need you.”Nonon huffs. “Hmph. I don't need you anyway. I have Azu-chan.” She bites down on Azuma's ear, making him flinch. “Mmmmhf!”“Agh! Fucks sake, Nonon!” he hisses loudly. “I'll fucking drop you.” The two of them start heading away, trying to find their own tent. Mmm, you're jealous, but you're not going to stop them. You're already curled up among your favorite girls.“Mills, pillow.” He responds with placing a pillow beneath your head. “Thank you.”You sigh deeply, then take one long look at the night sky.…Back in the MI, it was always a regular sight to see the stars. Back on Earth, light pollution always drowned them out, made the sky kind of a black void. But out here. You could see exactly what the MI and Fleet fights for. What the Federation fights for. The galaxy and those stars.Oh... you're still so drunk and yet you were going on a bit of a tangent. You see Burkett start to fall asleep as he stands guard. Eh, you'll let him. Mills as well sits around diligently. You remember those days of laying down under the stars with your men. Talk of what they wanted to do when they got out, when they'd be taking their first vote, some talking of girls back home or Dear John letters sent to them. You frown a bit.You wish Dizzy were here.
