“30 Seconds!” A red light turned on as dropship started heavily rock around. The sounds of flak and drumming of AAA penetrated the hull. So close. Your suit administers combat drugs in you.“Remember we must clear the park north of our LZ. If we don’t do that, rest of the landing force cannot land. Aim true and push on”“20 Seconds” Dropship turned into steep dive towards ground and its floor opened for the drop.“All ready? Unit check!”“71 ready”“72 ready”“73 ready”“74 ready”“75 ready”“76 ready”“77 ready”“78 ready”“79 ready”“10 Seconds” Tremendous forces were inflicted on Units as the dropship straightened and hits it brake burners to stop the descent. Green light! Green light! Green light! Mechanical clamps stopped embracing your suit as one by one Units dropped down to battlefield. The short weightless period as you fell on the ground was stopped suddenly with the thump of your suits leg servos and hydraulics trying to brace the impact. The crash had knocked your suit offline expect the emergency power.“Unit 77 offline, landing shutdown main power. Restarting” Your message was received by other as received lights lit your radio screen. Reset settings, turn on the fuel system, turn on the generator, start the backup generator. Ignite, ignite, ignite. With fourth try main power and other systems restarted and your vision started to fill with data. For first time you saw the battlefield which began to be marked with markers of both enemies and friendlies. Removing master safe you automatically started to target enemy markers with the autocannon firing short burst every few seconds. Other Units around you spit death as well with impunity until explosion engulfed Unit 75.“75 destroyed, MBT, distance one klick 245” Came message from Unit 79You passed Unit 75s wreck as the MBT exploded to missile fired by one of your compatriots. Fanning out, you started systematically clearing the trenches and dugouts from enemies. They tried to shoot you with their rifles or rocket launchers, but your flamethrower and autocannon stopped them before they could harm you. Soon the LZ was cleared from enemy combatantscont.
>>882544“Objective Alpha achieved, move on to Bra...” Came the voice of Unit 70, but he was cut short as APFSDS-round penetrated straight through his cockpit, dragging everything inside the cockpit through the exit hole in stream of chunks. Next one to be hit was Unit 79 as the round ripped his left leg clean off. You did not see where the rounds came, but without commands you all engaged your new foe. You only see general markers of the enemies around the park and structures beyond. No clear image of the enemy, but you presume it being MBT or wheeled anti-tank gun.>Try to use your superior scanners to spot the shooter and engage it (1d100)>Engage the most likely targets with your autocannon (1d100)>Fire your Assault Mortar at likely target (1d100)>Advance and lay suppressive fire for your compatriots (1d100)>Other, write in (1d100)Welcome to Mechanized Pilot Quest. And of course I managed to drop my trip on second post.>>882552>Well then. To get the quest rolling I will start writing.
>>882553>Try to use your superior scanners to spot the shooter and engage itSteadying yourself, you pushed your optics to sweep the park and the buildings around it. Number of autocannon rounds from other Units hit the buildings throwing shrapnel and dust in air. Normally this would hamper most vehicles and their optics, but with mere thought you switched to thermal imaging and extended battlefield surveillance radar folded on your back. Immediately you start seeing things. There is infantry teams in the park and in the buildings carrying rocket launchers and rifles, you marked them. There is ATGM-launchers hidden behind a curtains and windows, you marked them. Then you saw it, flash of a carefully hidden muzzle inside a structure. They had dragged a gun inside a basement of one block of flats. The shell landed next to you, but that was the last shell it fired. Marking it you started to put out burst after burst on its location with Unit 78s thermobaric missile finishing it of. The whole basement and first floor seemed to burst on fire. You simply removed markers off from few poor men who ran outside screaming while on fire. You inhaled deeply and sent a message to others.“Gun destroyed, detecting multiple enemy locations” Within a second, green lights indicating that message was received came from all Units. >Engage the infantry in the park (1d100)>Engage the infantry in the buildings (1d100)>Engage the ATGM-launchers (1d100)>Advance in front>Stay in formationChoose one of each.

>>882581>Engage the ATGM-launchers (1d100)>Stay in formationTurning your attention at the ATGM-launcher as they pose the greatest threat against your suit. Firing a burst at one launcher positions you saw clear hits at the structure, but not at the launcher. Another burst was more successful and your optics registered the launcher destroyed. Scrubbing it off from your screen you switched attention to next target.Rest of your compatriots had mixed success. You saw enemy markers disappearing, but not fast enough. Rifle fire, rockets and several missiles flew out of the buildings and dugouts around the park at your direction. Unit 72 took direct hit from a missile with the super hot jet piercing the front plate and getting inside the cockpit. If you had audio on, you could have heard his screams. Gladly for him death came soon as there was no life signs on your screen. Unit 74 suffered similar fate. Landmine exploded underneath his suits leg, destroying the hydraulics and crashing the suit on ground. Concentrated fire from rockets exploded him shortly after. Heartbeat started to rise dangerously fast, crossing 180 BPM and kept rising. Sweat started to pool up on your head and inside your overalls.Suits automatic healt control injected more combat drugs into bloodstream in attempt to steady your heartbeat. “No, not yet. We haven’t secured the park. Others depend on us. Exhaustion not yet.” You thought noticing it. “There’s target, firing burst. Switch to another one. Firing at it. Infantry on move. Destroy them. Oh no, I am thinking. Need to concentrate more”Remaining five Units, you included fired their weapons. Rocket and autocannon fire destroying opposition in the park. The objective wasn’t reached yet, but you knew Command would be watching you from space.“Ground troops, reinforcements arriving shortly. What is the situation down there?” Came question through radio.“This is Unit 71, Objective Alpha cleared and Bravo soon. You can land, but prepare for hot LZ” Unit 71 broadcasted to them.“Let us finish this and allow our compatriots safe landing. >>882589>>There might be something still hidden in the park and structures, find them and kill them. (1d100)>Stay in formation
>>882614>There is still weapon emplacements around the structures, destroy them>Stay in formationFiring again and again at the weapon emplacements you again had partial success. You managed to destroy several of them, but most importantly you suppressed them. Unit 76 received a lucky recoilless rifle round that disabled his suit. Slightly wounded he managed to get his suit down and he scrambled out of the hatch and took cover in nearby shell scrape. It was clear that squadrons fighting efficiency had lowered dramatically due to casualties and stress. One by one your scanners stopped receiving new contacts or seeing the old. Enemy had withdrawn. You felt exhausted, BPM hadn’t gotten any lower. It was always like this even though you were a veteran of several campaigns. First few days were the hardest for your body and mind. Most probably because the cold sleep of space transit weakens the body. But you couldn’t be thinking about it now. As strike aircraft turned the city beyond the park and around you into hell and brimstone your scanners registered landing crafts and dropships coming to unload their cargoes. You didn’t have to look at them to know the battle turning to your favour. Confederation MBTs and IFVs made landfall and darted to all directions preparing for new push.“Squadron form to me” Came a message from Unit 71, now the squadron command as 70 was killed early in the fighting. “Objective Brave captured, LZ is now secure for future use. Good work men. We wait for new orders, maintain guard”Acknowledging the order all five still combat ready suits spread out and started to to wait. Finally you started to calm down. Wiping tiredness from your eyes and breathing deep you started the whole system checkup. Everything came clearly back with only few minor errors from the combat stress the suit suffered. You followed Confederate troops milling about, vehicles and exo-suited soldiers running to their companies and advancing deeper into the city. You didn’t have to be smart man to see that your suits got a lot of attention, after all there wasn’t many Combat Armour units in whole Confederate Army. Experimental unit, you were told. You were resupplied, refueled and the errors checked by the maintenance crew which landed shortly after. The short lull in your fighting ended with new orders coming from Command. Your squadron would spread out and provide overwatch and support infantry units fighting in the city. Superior optics and scanners mounted to your suits are better than what infantry or their vehicles are carrying.cont.
>>882624As you were moving towards 5th Marine Battalions frontline you noticed that somebody was trying to contact you. This came as a surprise as normally all communication would come from ground and other higher up communication directed by your CO. Switching the radio to receive from dashboard above your head. You got a voice message.“Good morning Unit 77, this is Operator King speaking. Command has seen the situation requiring eyes from space to supervise and give you information. I hope our cooperation works well” A female voice spoke softly after appearing in one of your screens. Frankly you were bit startled, this was first time for somebody else than your CO or drill instructors were speaking to you since you joined the military and that was five years ago.>Do not message back, just send that you received the message>Send message acknowledging the situation>Send message acknowledging the situation, ask why we got eyes in sky instead of other formations.>Write inIf you have anything else to ask Operator King please suggest something.

>>882638>Send message acknowledging the situation“Understood” You messaged back and continued forward on road. Rebels had retreated quite fast. Full rout most likely. After a minute she contacted back“So what is your story? Why are you here fighting?” There was a boredom in her voiceYou really don’t know what to answer as you slowly look around and pretend to be checking things.“You know I can see you through your cockpit camera”Oh damn you forgot about that. Looking at the camera tucked between two screens you exhaled loudly and messaged back.“Drafted and I go where we are ordered to go. Not my choice”“Not your choice, you mean drafting?” She said with pique of interest. “I am looking at your file and most stuff in it is classified. I wouldn’t have thought Combat Armour Pilots being this secret hush hush. Why is that so?”“Classified, cannot say.” You messaged to her.“Classified, I really should have known. Command really likes their red tape and secrets.” She sounded defeated a bit. “How long have you been in the Confederate Army, I know you are a veteran as you don’t look that young and they wouldn’t have given Operator to a rookie. And how do you message back to me. I see your hands, but they are not pressing any buttons?”“Five years” You answer hoping that it would make her little bit more quieter, you kinda like the steady whirring of servos and other background noises. Helps you concentrate. “For writing, we have standard headplug connecting cerebellum with the machines computer and surgically inserted to underskin, two-way electroencephalography device that can read and influence brains”“Oh, sorry to hear that. Never would have thought that Command would go that far. Very unethni…” You stop listening to her as your radio catches a beacon message from 5th Marine Battalions HQ asking for reinforcements they are under attack. They need your help. “...sister of mine is developing, are you even listening to me?”“5th Battalion is under attack, contact them and ask what to do” You message to her and see that she is bit taken back due to not listening, but quickly goes back to comms.“They are under attack by rebel mechanized forces, expect light vehicles and combat armours. Cloud cover is interrupting direct visual, but scanners show at least company size element. I have informed that you are soon there. Be careful Seven” She says to you. She sounded concerned in the end, why is that you don’t know. And did she call you Seven?>Move in fast and prepare to defend (1d100)>Move in fast and counterattack them! >>882688“Operator give me all information you get” “Hmm, gotcha Seven. Patching live feed to your screens now and try to magnify these heat maps”She called you Seven again, but you must admit she is pretty fast as video of the battlefield appeared. It seems that 5th Battalion is stuck on western side of a highway with the rebels massing their vehicles on other side. Clearly marines are in disadvantage. King marks all probable positions containing massed infantry or vehicles to you. There is your spot, rebels are attacking. Exhaling again you decide not to use your combat drugs. They help a lot, but not now, you need your wits.Errant shells hit the structures around you, these low flats now providing cover for men of 5th. Turning your scanners online and connecting their feed to cross reference with Kings footage you see that rebel attack has crossed the highway under heavy cover from both mortars firing smoke and the fire from their combat armours. Walking between buildings and gathering fair share of looks and cheers you make way to front.“Operator, connect me with 5th CO” You say with King quickly connecting and giving thumbs up when ready. Your combat armours computer read your message to 5th CO as you wrote it. “This is Unit 77. Command saw us fit to help you in this part of the city. Going to engage the enemy now”And there it is, enemy infantry in the open with only the road behind them. Bracing your suit, you launch your Mjölnir at them. With great ooomph the 115kg shell flew the short distance and exploded. You didn’t have direct line of sight, but your and Kings scanners saw drastic decrease in their number. You just killed 50 men in one strike. Coming into open you opened with your autocannon at their armored vehicles which you identified as Light Armour, Infantry, 2cm. Their sloped armours trying to withstand your attack, but without good success. One was already turned into a burning wreck. Then you saw them, their combat armours. The old Augers, box lifters turned into combat equipment. They were apparently unperturbed about your sudden appearance. Both LAI 2s and Augers tried to concentrate fire at you, but without good success. Though you felt two 20mm rounds hitting your front plate, they did not penetrate. And according to traces flying to all directions Augers really had some problems. There was still half a dozen light armours and dozen or so Augers in the open with good number behind structures on their side of the highway.>Go full counterattack! Giving 10-15 minutes for the third roll to happen. As a clarification that 6d100 is for your enemies. They are to check how enemy infantry, IFVs and combat armours react to your doings. For example in last turn both IFVs and combat armours rolled quite average so the damage taken from your 64 roll wasn't super bad, but same time Augers completely fumbled and didn't hit shit when they fired at you.So in this case both infantry and IFVs are doing quite well, but Augers are still fumbling around. Good for you that you managed to decimate the attacking infantry that had managed to cross the highway.

>Continue destroying them, but maneuver and change positions>Do not use combat drugs“Oh, god. All those men dead in one hit and now that LAI 2” You hear King speaking to herself. Trying to put that aside you focus at your task. Seeing your success the marines of 5th join the battle and start putting some heavy resistance. Switching targets between LAI 2s and Augers you manage to damage few LAI 2s that stayed in open, but three Augers were turned into flaming wrecks with single burst each. Firing one more burst at them you step back and message King.“I need more info” “Trying my best Seven, dust from combat is hindering my attempts. Enhance, enhance!” She is practically shouting at her computer.“Then order artillery on them”“Cannot do that Seven, I do not have access. I can patch the request to 5th CO. Shall I do that?”“Yes” You message King and step back into fight after going around a half collapsed flat. Opening fire again your autocannon chews through yet another Auger. You feel a great bang and nearly hit your head at the console panel if not the harness protecting you from flying around in the cockpit. You groan as you shake the confusion off you see that half of your systems are offline. Autocannon roars again giving you some suppressive fire as you back off again. You can feel blood trickling down your head over your face and you see that you might have few minor spalling problem. Some of the screens are half hanging and your left leg feels strange.“What happened Seven” Comes Kings voice, now clearly terrified. “Are you alright, I cannot see anything”“Hit, half of the systems down. Restarting” You message her. Reset settings, turn on the fuel system, turn on the generator, start the backup generator. Ignite, and against usual practice it does so in first attempt.“Sensor suite half down, relegating to manual optics. I need your eyes” Your Gladius groans as the now damaged machine lumbers forward.>Go full counterattack! >>882878>Continue destroying them from here>Do not use combat drugsYet again rebel infantry attacks, pushing themselves over the highway from cover to cover. Firing their rifles and launching rockets at defending marines they feel like they are on a roll. Supported by LAI 2s which spurred from sudden disappearance of Confederate combat armour into dust of cloud push on and fill the air with their 20mm rounds. Under this onslaught, somehow the marines last. Taking cover and trying to fire at the attackers, without help they cannot hold thought. But you do not know this, half of your sensors are still down so when you got through the dust cloud you are faced with both large mass of infantry and and LAI 2s in the open with Augers in the back. You are bit surprised about their sudden appearance, but nevertheless you don’t falter. Left arms flamethrower spits its flaming substance over into the highway as autocannons 30mm rounds have no difficulties on penetrating the armour of the rebel vehicles. The marines spurred from this open fire again with their rifles and recoilless rifles scoring hits.“The men down there, they are on fire. You set them on fire.” King watches in horror as you don’t stop. The fire spreads around with now few vehicles burning also. One by one the attacking Augers fell to either your autocannon or to marine fire. LAI 2s while under fire, managed to shoot at you, but your Gladius managed to endure the hits without much effort. Something of course gets broken, but you did not notice. This is now the moment, do they falter? You have trouble seeing, your left eye been closed by the blood dripping and you are not feeling that great otherwise. The mental strain from the connection to the machine starts to hit to, but you have to continue. Then it comes.
>>882964“DANGER CLOSE, DANGER CLOSE” Broadcasting on all Confederate frequencies. Your own artillery, you have to go back. Taking the few steps and putting a flat between you and them. You just listen and watch the fireworks through one of the still working screens. Whatever was still down there is now either scared shitless or in pieces as the fire crept first over to their side of the highway and continued inside the the city until it stopped.“I think we won” King said clearly relieved. “Your face, you are wounded, you need medical attention. I can try to contact 5th Battalions personnel.” Now she was very worried.“No need, I can do it myself” You said with groany voice “You actually talked Seven. You really talked. You sounded like you haven’t talked in long time”“I don’t talk much” You messaged her back as you casually moved your Gladius back into 5th Battalions rear. Passing you came more fresh troops, most likely rest of the Battalion which just had landed with heavy equipment.Finding the apparent HQ of the 5th you parked Gladius between two buildings and started to switch off the systems one by one. Until you had only the backup power on you messaged King“Thank you for your help, I will be in touch.”With that you turned the power off, disconnected your arms from the suit, then legs, spine and head and finally unlocked the harness. With a grunt you opened the hatch and climbed out of it. You really feel weak as you took the first step on the ladder, but second step was too much. Your left leg didn’t have no strenght and you fell three meters on to the ground. Luckily landing on your back. If King was watching through her scanners and optics she would be very worried were your thoughts before drifting to unconsciousness. And that is where we stop for now. You have a headache that could kill a lesser man. Last time you had one this bad was when they implanted all the cyber stuff into your skull. Even thinking about it hurts and you don’t even remember much about it. You haven’t opened your eyes yet, but you can feel that you are inside some structure in quite comfy cot. “I can see that you are awake. I plugged one of these monitors to your headplug.” You try to sit up as the man is speaking. “Please do not sit up yet, trust me as a doctor. Hell of a fighting earlier, I have had my hands busy the whole afternoon.”Laying back into the cot you open your eyes and see a standard military tent and a lot of cots lined around it full with wounded people. Then you saw the man who talked to you. Oh god the headache, it is really killing you.“I am lieutenant Joki, the doctor of 5th Marine Battalion. You got small piece of a shrapnel in your leg that we removed successfully and your head wound was from your headplug system. I never really have seen a system like that” You try to concentrate on his words, but your headache is unbearable. Trying to wipe the headache away had usually worked in the past, but not now. Clutching your head with both hands, you hope the pain to go away.“I see you have a headache, I will get a nurse to get you some medicine for it.” He quickly gets serious as the monitor you are plugged into goes haywire. All the results and data going sideways and then disappearing. He grabs your wrist to measure heartbeat rate manually as the screen goes black. “What is going on, nurse get sedatives for this man.” He shouts, but then realises Your heartbeat is normal, although bit elevated. What happened?”“Headache” You message him. Wait that is not right, you are not plugged into your suits comm system. Oh right, yes the monitor. You point the monitor with your finger. Good doctor is confused, that is very clear. He most likely haven’t seen anything like this before. Well you haven’t either. He grabs a wheelchair and helps you to it and quickly pushes you into what seems to be an office in structure next to the tent. You are still plugged into the monitor which now sits on your lap.“Care to explain what this is. I haven’t seen an actual working psycho helmet or even heard that somebody got one working. Only theories how it could work, but this never!” Dr Joki tells you while leaning on his table. He is startled. You think for a moment, there is some reason why all your files are classified and you are told not to tell people anything about your training. They can know about scanning brainwaves, but nothing else. At least that was what your instructors told you.>Tell everything you know, full disclosure>Tell what you can tell and little bit more>Tell what you can tell>Sorry classified>Use the monitor>Actually speak to the man

>Tell what you can tell>Use the monitorYou turn the monitor around so that doctor Joki can read it.“I joined voluntarily to programme that implanted these things to me. My both hands and legs have three connectors each, my back has four and then there is the headplug. All these are connected into sophisticated EEG receptors that read what my brains and nerves are doing. This is used in controlling the Combat Armours we were issued with. We are experiments in experimental unit” Your message is written to screen word after word.“For this I have no idea, but somehow it just works” As you were telling the doctor what you let him know, left side of the screen got all your ailments listed one by one from toe nail that grows wrong to the headache that is still killing you. “And could I have some painkillers or something that could put this headache away”Doctor Joki looks at you with left fingers stroking his chin. He waved a nurse into the office and ordered him to bring some medicine.“Experimental unit explains then why our records showed nothing or classified.” He ponders. “Alright Unit 77, you have to stay with us at least over the night. Your leg has been treated Our CO wants to see you tomorrow when we still are here. >>886012>If your CO can't make plans today, I'll oversee the work on the Combat Armour>Yes“I will go to my suit next. Can I see your CO today.” You ask with the monitor. While looking directly into the eyes of the doctor.“I think he will have enough time to see you. You really shouldn’t go, but what am I to stop you.” He answers. “Just be careful”You nod to the good doctor and carefully push yourself up from the wheelchair. You try to put weight to your wounded left leg and even though it hurts a lot, you can slowly walk forward. The pain from the leg overriding the headache is beneficial, you really didn’t know if you could go much longer.Going to your cot, you find your pilot overalls neatly tucked underneath it. Spreading them out onto the cot you saw that somebody tried to scrub the bloodstains out from it. You really should thank that person. While it hurts a lot you managed to pull them on and fasten it properly to make sure that the connection ports are lined up. You began to leave as the nurse brings you some pills and water, taking them and drinking the water in one go. With a nod you thanked him and rose from the cot. You had everything on person what you had when you fell from the ladder, expect the monitor you were carrying. At first you thought at leaving it, but decided to take it with you.
>>886017Orienteering yourself to direction that had most brass moving, officers and NCOs like to mill around the CP a lot and like to form these small circles where they just talk shit and have bad banter. Seeing the first circle of banter, you knew you were in right direction. Not caring about others as they gave you the looks because of the medical monitor, you gave few mandatory salutes and walked into what seemed to be the 5th Battalion's Command Post. “Who are you and why are you in here?” The clerk waved you over to him and asked. “And why you have a medical monitor with you?”“Unit 77, to see Battalion CO. He is expecting me” You messaged to the clerkThe clerk gave you a look and left the desk to inform the CO about your arrival. Soon he was back and wave you in. You wobbled in and saluted the old major standing behind a what seemed a map on a portable table.“Unit 77 here as ordered” You messaged while saluting.“At ease. I am Major Strong, the commander of 5th Marine Battalion.” He said before noticing the monitor you placed on the table. “I am not going to ask why you have the monitor with you, because that wouldn’t be professional. You are here because thanks to your help we managed to stop the rebel counterattack and allow for other forces to push past and continue their advance. What I have heard rest of the Combat Armours have had similar effect in the battlefield”As he was talking he got two cups and poured what seemed to be ersatz coffee into them.“This is not real coffee, but tastes nearly the same.” He said while offering a cup to you.“But coffee and what is happening elsewhere is not the reason why you are here. 5th Battalion is to move to new site tomorrow morning and attack it at noon. The place is Thomas McKean Space Port. The rebels have send reinforcements there, but they know that they are being surrounded. It is our task to push them off. Normally this would be easy mission, but there is a catch”Catch caught your attention as you took the first sip of the coffee. It really did taste pretty okay.“There is civilians in one terminal and maybe in others, the rebels haven’t allowed them to leave. This means we cannot just bombard the place into pile of rubble. We will look into tactics better tomorrow when we are there, but I wanted you to know before. I know you have direct link to space and the scanners there. Use them well. Now if you don’t have anything else, I have a battalion to run”Understanding it was your time to go, you saluted and left the CP, but not before drinking the coffee.
>>886019Asking directions from few very confused troopers you managed to find your suit under repairs. A man in red overalls checking apparently what seemed to be hydraulics. He noticed you and shouted at you.“Aah you finally woke up. Come and see if my repairs on hydraulics have worked?”Excusing him, you unplugged yourself from the monitor and worked yourself into the cockpit. Plugging yourself back to the machine and connecting all ports made you feel better. Restarting the computer you were back in control.“Let's go through the maintenance list” You said to the mechanic through the speaker. You thought about sending a message to Operator King and decided to do so.“I am fine”Roll 1d100, best of three to see how well your cooperation with the mechanic goes as you check everything there is and to see if the repairs are successful.

Really carrying the monitor around doesn’t help at all.” Mechanic said as you went through the list. “I am Kuwabara Hideaki, you can call me Hide like everybody else. I got contracted by the Army to repair everything possible. There isn’t a vehicle I haven’t touched, maybe not counting the electronics this beauty has. You met old man Strong already? Lovely man, always trying to think what is best for his men, but that has given him some problems from the brass. He hasn’t followed all orders and that's why a man who should be a general is still commanding a battalion. If you need anything, I think he can make it happen”The idle, but one sided chatter continues as you coordinate the repairing of the hardware as you are checking if the computers and scanners if they are working. It seems that the damage is pretty light without major problems. Work continued until someone tries to contact you through the radio.“Are you alright, I was very worried yesterday after I couldn’t hear anything about you. I didn’t get no confirmation from ground if you were dead so I just waited” Comes Operator Kings voice clearly, she sounds relieved. >write in what do you say?

I fell on ground and lost my consciousness.” You messaged back. “Lost consciousness, did they you get doctor to check you out?”“Yes. Doctor removed the shrapnel and patched me up. Met the CO of the battalion and discussed what we will do tomorrow. Thomas McKean Space Port is our target. We need to capture it without using heavy weaponry. There is civilians in there. Can you start looking there already?” You answered to her.“I can do that Seven, but shouldn’t you be in bed? Too early to get up, not good for you don’t you know that” She lectures. “And how could you communicate with others, you don’t really talk?”There is a pause in discussion as you continue on checking the software and the equipment inside the cockpit.“I know you can message me without using a keyboard.” She says bit disappointed“I messaged through a monitor”“Seven, what are you talking about? A monitor, are you sure that you didn’t hit your head badly?“Doctor connected my headplug into a monitor to read directly my vitals. During a bad headache, I hijacked it and send messages onto its screen.” You message while pausing the software work. “I or the doctor did not have no idea how that worked, but maybe something to do with my EEG implants.”“I haven’t heard anything like that either Seven. I can look into it if you want. Hard to believe it. Did you carry the monitor whole day with you?”Software for the health system showed that it wasn’t broken before you could answer to her and it started it’s automatic procedures. You could feel it, the sensation of nutrients and liquids flowing into your bloodstream. You had waited for this whole day.“Finally, yes” You whispered as the relief spread across your body. “Yes I carried the monitor with me the whole day.” You continued with message. “How are things in space?”“Did you talk again? Forget it, things here have gotten steady. We are advancing on all fronts and the top brass is already opening the champagne bottles and slapping their backs for good job done. We Intel Officers see things otherwise, this battle isn’t won yet. I will start looking at the Space Port, you continue your maintenance and try not to fall again”. She says with a laugh.“I do not my eye in the sky” You answeredThe maintenance continued until midnight and you couldn’t be happier. Your Gladius is now in good shape, but as Hide said it wouldn’t be advisable to get hit again. Bad for the health. Do you want Operator King to look the datafiles and networks for your strange monitor episode?>Yes>NoI am going to continue writing the next update, trying to get it done before next hour. Just need this here
Morning came soon. You had already been awake for better part of the night. According to doctors who placed the implants it is because heightened brain activity and connection to the machines computer. You received another dose of nutrients and medicines, all the pain and headaches of yesterday had went away, you felt great. Just like Major Strong had said, the battalion set towards the Space Port early in the morning. Packing their gears to their APCs and vehicles, you decided to follow them at your own slow pace. The trip to Space Port outskirts wasn’t long at all, just few kilometres if zig-zagging roads and military checkpoints. Apparently there still was rebels hiding around the captured areas and military police was here to flush them out.“Good morning Seven, how did your night go? Sleepy looking King appeared to her screen. She had a cup of coffee with her. “I have intelligence data and pictures for your Major when you meet him again. The scanners and optics ran the whole night trying to patch clear picture.”“Night went well” You messaged back as you were walking past a group of military police rounding a group of what were looking like rebels against a wall and shot them there. You continued without a pause.“Oh god Seven, they shot them!” King screamed. “Do something, arrest them!”“No. Laws of war do not protect rebels or insurgents, technically things like these are allowed. No one is going to lose their night sleep for this. You answered.“But they were shot!”You decide it is better to not to answer at all.

>You stay inside the Combat Armour and give the information Operator King managed to gather to them by using the speakers>NoAs carefully as you can with 19 ton, 6 meters tall machine, you crept closer to the table and the officers. You got surprisingly close before they realized you being there. “Ahh Unit 77, welcome to the 5th Battalion CP.” Said Major Strong. “Would you like to get out of your Combat Armour and explain what your Operator managed to gather?”“I prefer to be here inside”“Works for me. Lets go once more our objectives. The hangars, terminal and supply structures near runway. If we can get at least two of those locations in our control, the third should fall. Our four marine companies are ready to act with. We do have our APCs, but otherwise we are lacking heavy support beyond Unit 77s Combat Armour. We can allocate one company per every objective with fourth company that can be allocated as extra manpower to one. Unit 77, care to explain your part.” Major Strong explained.“Operator King, can you please explain your findings” You messaged to her. “You are transmitting.” “What did you say? Transmitting, you mean to the officers?” King said flustered. “Okay, I can do this. Alright, scanners show that the rebels have concentrated their infantry in the Terminal and Supply structures with their vehicles which I cannot distinguish at the Hangar. Their number are not that big, but will be major obstacle for us. Scanners also show that the civilians are inside the Terminal likely in the lower floors. One interesting thing I saw were that there is still good number of space lifters in the and near the hangars. This is all I know. I will send the information to your screens, it should help you a lot”“Thank you Operator King, alright gentlemen we have to plan this how we assault these positions.” Major Strong said and looked into eyes of his officers.
>>886565Thanks to Operator Kings information you know following information that may be beneficial to you in choosing where to go and allocate the fourth company. These locations can also be beneficial to you in future either in your use or in use by the Confederate forces, so choose carefully.>Terminal is currently housing unknown number of civilians hiding in the lower levels. They will be in way of the fighting most likely. Terminal also has the flight tower which has very good communication and air surveillance equipment.>Hangars are currently housing a good number space lifters, a space shuttles built to lift people and equipment to space and around the atmosphere. There is a number of hardened aircraft shelters around the hangars.>Supply structures are a group of structures near the runway. These structures are used to house all kinds of supplies that are either used in the space port or supplies that were transported to the space port and now are waiting for moving forward. These structures are quite well built. And have explosive resistant walls and mounds between some of them. All locations get single company attacking them. You can allocate the fourth company to single location to boost the fighting capacity there. Do you allocate the company to:>Terminal>Hangars>Supply structuresNow choose where you go, think carefully where to insert yourself:>Terminal>Hangars>Supply structuresI will give you some time to plan this and vote on this. Your choice has long standing consequences.
>>886570Allocated Company>TerminalHit them with overwhelming force fast will probably help the civilians more than a prolonged engagement. They should also take down that flight tower ASAP to blind the rebels if they are using it as a lookout post.77>HangarsI think we can cause some havoc around here to draw some attention away. If they have any planes we can take them out while they are grounded.
>>886570The fourth company will be allocated to the terminal, with orders to take the flight tower and establish battlefield communications. We shall act as a reaction force, reinforcing whichever company needs it the most once we have a better picture of the fighting.

Their objective is to quickly capture and hold the terminal area and safe the civilians in there. You are to support the attack towards the Hangars, where your superior optics and scanners hopefully give you an advantage against vehicles stationed there. You are to stay back and react to enemy movement and locations to deliver that critical attack at them.Infantry along with their APCs made towards their attack positions. Hiding and trying to creep as close as possible with their vehicles still hidden behind structures.Signal check came from the battalion signals officer to which all companies answered along with you. Going through your mental checklist, you went through weaponry which was resupplied last night to the scanners and ground radar. Breathing deep and hard you tried to concentrate, but decided to send one final message to King.“My eye in the sky, if you see something, mark it fast. We need every advantage there is.” The message went.“I know Seven, patching the latest information to you and battalion network now. Rolled 6, 47, 38, 2, 38, 65, 100 = 296 (7d100)Fighting in the Terminal became brutal fast as the marines managed to advance to the terminal structure itself and managing to actually get inside in few places. The defending rebel forces were caught pants down as their pickets and forward pushed troops were swept away by the combined fire from marines itself and their APCs. At the terminal the fighting turned into a standstill, but the foothold was there. At the Hangars, marines did the same thing as with the troops attacking the terminal. They advanced fast and got over the first line of defense, but after that their attack stopped. The combined fire from the small number of rebel infantry and now seen Thunderbolt Combat Armours prevented them from moving forward. Slowly the marines crept forward.Supply structures were completely different case. Alerted by the fighting the rebel infantry was prepared with the first wave of marines practically cut down. Still not wavering they pushed slightly forward, but got pinned by too many weapon emplacements and machine guns. The fighting at the structures turned into shooting war, with both sides in their defensive emplacements and trying to win purely by attrition.Firmly advancing you started to pick up speed. Determined to be in front to prevent the rebel vehicles from slaughtering the marines and their APCs. Scanning the hangars you saw them, rebels had a dozen or more Thunderbolts. You really had to be careful against them, their 50mm autocannon and rocket pod could punch straight through your armour. This was dangerous situation, but you had an advantage. The intel from the scanners that was constantly updating.Concentrating your fire at the first Thunderbolt you saw and could engage you managed to quickly punch it full of holes. It fell unceremoniously onto ground. Second Thunderbolt was peppered by HMGs mounted on the marine APCs and finished by their recoilless rifles. This was the point where they realized how dangerous enemy you could be. Thunderbolts started to throw fire at you in form of their own gatling and HMGs. You could feel the rounds hitting around your armour, but you knew that they couldn’t penetrate it. Darting behind a hangar wall you analyzed the situation.Your infantry at hangars were still bogged down by the rebel infantry that is barely holding, but your presence can help them advance forward and secure the structures and threaten the Thunderbolts. Meanwhile the APCs were having problems as they were only armed with HMGs and their main task was to taxi the troops around, not perform in direct assaults. You had few choices you could make>move back and provide fire support>Move forward along with the infantry and their vehicles>Advance in front, gain maximum advantage from movement and fireUse combat drugs>Yes>NoYou are now also in range with Mjölnir mortar>Use it against the Thunderbolts>Use it against the infantry>Safe it for later

Rolled 63, 7, 8, 58, 98, 83, 49 = 366 (7d100)Fighting in the Terminal turned in chaos. Lines of communication were broken, with men fighting against each other in a grand furball. Corner by corner the terminal was taken by the marines mainly thanks to the APCs braving the odds and advancing danger close to the terminal. Unless a breakthrough happens the fighting there will continue for some time.At Hangar, marines got pinned down bad. A single machine gun nest swept the whole company preventing them from advancing at all, but their counter fire was bit more successful as one more Thunderbolt was destroyed with recoilless rifles. Finally the stalemate was broken at supply structures with marines braving the fire and advancing under fire very close to the rebel lines. From here they used their superior firepower first to suppress them and then assaulting their positions with hand grenades and bayonet charges. The rebel forces at supply structure were nearly defeated, but one officer managed to rally the remnants for one last defense.Leaving the cover provided by the hangar, you pushed your Gladius forward as fast as you can. Avoiding a wreck of a baggage handler you spotted your prey, the lone machine gun nest keeping the rest of the company pinned. Moving straight through squad of infantry, you stopped and burned the nest and everybody near it into crisp. Your Arquebus CIS started automatically engaging the men around as you stomped around and took a new direction towards the Thunderbolts as rounds fired by their lighter weapons bounced from your hull. Few tried to fire their 50mm cannons, but their fire missed you hitting the hangars and whatever was around you. You started to feel the exhaustion as the health system tried to stabilize by administering liquids and chemicals into your body. You need to stay focused. Firing another long burst and Thunderbolt before launching the Mjölnir over it. The mortar shell hit second Thunderbolt directly at the cockpit, destroying it in great shower of superheated shrapnel and bits. The Thunderbolt damaged by your autocannon in turn fell motionless on the ground from the force of the explosion.“Do you see anything?” You threw a message at King.“Not much, there is still Thunderbolts remaining, but they don’t seem to be moving at all.” The now unpinned marines ran forward, crossing the devastated rebel infantry and going straight towards the last several Thunderbolts still standing. Fight would be over soon if the last Thunderbolts are driven back.>move back and provide fire support>Move forward along with the infantry and their vehicles>Advance in front, gain maximum advantage from movement and fireUse combat drugs>Yes>No

In the chaos an order started to form. The two attacking companies slowly wrestled the control room by room, floor by floor from the rebel forces. Finally encircling them at cafeteria and the floor above it. Rebels, still having number of their heavy equipment managed to keep the marines away, but they do not have the numbers to deal with the attackers. Until marines get their APCs near or they get outside support they couldn’t punch through the defenses.Marines at hangar advanced without opposition until the last five Thunderbolts decided to counterattack them. Darting around into cover behind space lifters and assorted space port vehicles marines returned fire with their underslung grenade launchers and their recoilless rifles, destroying two Thunderbolts by sheer number of fire they managed to put into them. Finally the fighting in the Supply structure ended. While the marines couldn’t advance close, they were close enough to shoot the remaining rebels where they took their last stand. They got cut down one by one. The supply structures were captured. You saw them, last five Thunderbolts make a mad dash towards the marines. Stopping and bracing yourself you opened fire with your autocannon. 30mm darts struck the first one into legs and then cut into the cockpit. Second Thunderbolt suffered catastrophic explosion as the 50mm rounds got ignited and exploded. Third and fourth got destroyed by the marines and fifth took the combined from you and those around you. Suddenly it was silent, only burning and exploding ammunition made sound at the hangars.“Did we do do it Seven?” Asked King anxiously, she had been watching what was happening through your optics the whole time. “Yes, yes we did” You messaged her as you slumped down on your harness. You scanned the surroundings and saw the marines moving forward and securing the hangars one by one. Extending the scans you also saw the marines at supply structures moving around, the battle seemed to end there also. This was clarified was as they informed the battalion about capturing their objective.“I think we are done here.” You messaged King. “Check the situation at the terminal, but this battle is ours” Walking across the battlefield littered by the bodies of both marines and rebels and with wrecks of destroyed APCs and Thunderbolts, it felt that this space port will either be super important in future or just one place that had to be captured.
