Your name is Haskell, son of Sven. A young Norse man of about seventeen, and heir to a family that has long since begun spiralling. A father who lost most of his hand raiding, a mother who took ill on a sickness brought back on the longships, and a brother who’s entire raiding party hasn’t been heard from in six months, presumed lost to the sea. That’s about to turn around. When the local raidmaster watched you kill a frost giant in single combat, he decided to toss luck to the wind, and offered you a spot on a longboat. You accepted, and took a job to prove your worth, running a small wagon of food up to a temple in the mountains. There, you found answers to a dream that had been plaguing you all your life; you were a Paladin, the chosen champion of Odin, as were three of your closest friends. Currently, your priority is to find the mythical Atlas of the Conqueror, last held by Charlemagne, and presumed to be somewhere in mainland Europe. Not much to go on, but it’s said that you don’t find the Atlas. You simply come across it when it believes you ready.Important Links:Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=NorsemanLast thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/722042/Character sheet: http://pastebin.com/3YQyKhpVRelationships: http://pastebin.com/iRfRY4kS
You wake, early in the morning. In your waking stupor, you know that you’re excited, but can’t quite remember why. You slowly get dressed, trying to to fall over while still in the process of waking up.You attach your seax to the front of your belt, and feeling the blade in your hand kick-starts your memory. You get on a boat to day, over to the Baltic to kick the teeth of some slavs in. You burst into action, sprinting around the house getting ready, despite the fact that the boat won’t leave for hours. Neverminding that minute detail, you pack your weapons, armor, and other gear as tightly as you can, setting it by the door, barely able to contain yourself. There’s no way you can just wait the next four or five hours away. You need to do something.>Find someone (Who?)>Go somewhere (Where?)>Do something (What?)>Write-in

Okay, talking to dad, then finding the boys. Writing
You should talk to dad, and you know where to find him. Leaving the small house, you find him in the field, pulling the sprouts of weeds from the soil. You do that with him for a while, and know he appreciates the help. “Know what time you’re heading out,” he asks plainly after about an hour of the weeding. “Around midday,” you answer, pulling up a particularly stubborn root system. “You know how Gunnar manages time.”“He doesn’t,” he answers, chuckling as he wipes sweat from his brow with his maimed hand. “But that’s not such a bad thing. Who else is on the boat?”“I’m not sure past Knut, Anders, and Erik,” you answer, tossing the weed into a pile for the horse. “Haven’t really been asking around.”“Well, just be careful,” he says, worry creeping into his eyes. “Past Gunnar, they won’t be sending the best of the best to the Baltic.”“I’ll be fine, dad,” you answer, placing a hand on his shoulder. “You don’t need to stress about me.” You neglect to tell him just why you feel so confident in your safe return. A few more moments of speaking, and your father turns to the small stable, to care for the horse, and you head into town to find your friends after grabbing your pack and weapons. You find Knut at his house, asleep, but his sister Astrid takes great joy in shouting him awake. The two you share a laugh while he prepares for the day, swearing at you absentmindedly. You find Anders and Erik at the dock, talking to some of the other men waiting for the ships to depart. “About time you two were out of bed,” Anders says, grinning widely despite his healing broken nose.Knut say something about wanting a good night’s rest before sailing off, and you ignore the cheap jab. >Speak to your friends>Speak to the other men>Wait quietly for Gunnar and the other captains>Write-in
>>807788Alright guys, serious talk right now. This is our first raid, so we'll be a bit green. We stick together and we'll make it. Also, I keep an eye out for that Atlas. I doubt it will be in the Baltics, but you know.
>>807820Erik and Anders have been out before, pretty extensively in the case of Anders
>>807831Ah I knew I was missing something. Well we should still stick together
>>807820In light of >>807831 I support this with some variation. We need to stick together as a squad, have our backs and help each other out. We should take point if we can, follow Anders lead, he has the most experience.
>>807788>>807837Yeah I'm keen on taking point
“So,” you begin as you lean against the wall of a house next to the docks, “what’s going to be the best way to do this?”“If it’s just the four of us,” Anders begins, sliding to the ground on the same wall, “I’d put your big ass up in front, with me and Erik flanking, and Knut in the back with that spear of his. He’ll have the reach anyway.”Knut nods, and slaps the haft of his spear against his shield. “I’m down for that if everyone else is.”“I’m fine with using Haskell as a human wall,” Erik says, shrugging. “As long as I’m not up front. I’m not built for that shit.”“That’s what I was thinking, anyway,” you say, nodding. “Just makes sense for me to block incoming attackers and missile fire. I’ll let Anders take control, though, he has the most experience.”“Probably for the best,” Anders says. “We should keep a lookout for the Atlas, though.”“Not much point in that,” Erik says dourly. “It’s probably somewhere in Germany, according to that priest.”“Yeah,” Knut adds, sitting crosslegged across from you and Anders. “Ulrich said something about it finding us, anyway.”“Still,” you reply, looking between your friends. “It wouldn’t do to miss out on the Atlas because we weren’t looking for it.”Erik and Knut concede to that, and the chatter dies down for a moment.>Continue the conversation>Talk to someone else>Wait for Gunnar and the ships>Write-in

The small talk continues idly for a while and eventually, Knut produces a Hnefatafl board from his pack. The four of you play that for a few hours, despite the only real games being between Anders and Knut. You and Erik just don’t have the minds for it, it seems.Eventually, Gunnar arrives, herding the rest of the hungover men to the docks with shouts and kicks. He calls the men around, and divides up teams to start loading the ships up. The four of you were on Gunnar’s ships with about a dozen other men. All told, there were roughly 100 fighters between five ships. You spend about an hour loading up food, rope, spare shields, and other various odds and ends onto the ship. Gunnar shouts for take off, and just like that, the sails are up and you’re on your way to the first raid.>Pick someone to get to know better on the trip over, and specify what you’d like to know about them

After you row the longship out of the fjords and into the open ocean, you have a while to talk on the two-day boat ride to the next beach. You find yourself sitting next to Anders. “So, what is going to be expected of me once we get off the boat? What can I do to be ready for the bigger raids?”“Well,” Anders says as he takes a bite from a strip of salted pork. “First day or two will be digging in. We’ll be turning a few of the boats into temporary barracks, digging trenches, setting stakes. The like. It sucks, but it beats the hell out of getting stormed by fifteen villages in the dead of night.”“Sounds like a lot of work,” you say, rolling your shoulders, as if to stretch them out for the task ahead.“It is,” he replies, shaking his head. “But really throwing your back into it is the best way to get the respect of Gunnar and the other men, and that’s really what these smaller ones are about. Once the older guys like you, the younger fighters getting sent to harder raids will come around.”“What about once the actual raiding starts,” you ask. “What about then? Surely there’s more to it than just trying hard.”“Definitely,” he responds, nodding vigorously. “Gotta be a good arm in the shield wall. Making sure you aren’t the reason someone gets to Valhalla early is important. What helped me out here in the Baltic was making sure I was more worried about the food we came for, rather than looking for gold or baubles for myself. Eye on the prize, so to say.”You’re almost taken aback. Anders is never this eloquent in normal conversation. Something about being on a raid must click in him. The next two days pass in a hurry, as there’s a surprising amount of work to be done on a relatively small longship. Most of your time is spent managing ropes, or moving cargo to avoid overloading one side. In any case, it isn’t too long before the ships hit the surf of Gunnar’s chosen landing site. Soon, the sails are down, ropes are hooked to the front of the ships to be dragged ashore and flipped over, and shovels, picks and axes are laid out for the ditch and stake wall to be set up.Gunnar and Anders are part of the crew dragging up the ships, while Erik and Knut are going for the the collection of hand tools to work on the ditch, and there is a small group of men you don’t recognize heading into the nearby forest with bows and spears, presumably to scout and find fresh food. Seems like it’s up to you what you’d like to work on.>Work on converting some of the ships>Work on the ditch>Go scouting and hunting>Write-in

>>808204This. Lets get some experience in defenses
>>808189>Work on the ditchLet's dig the fuck out of that ditch, really give it our fucking all, Odin should support us in this
You head over to the rows of handtools, and think about reaching for a hatchet, but think again. Anders said the hard work is what will get you into the good graces of the other raiders, not combat skill. You ultimately decide on a pick, and head over to the area that’s already begun being dug up. You find Knut and Erik, with another pick and a shovel, respectively, and begin swinging away for Erik to scoop the loose dirt up, throwing it to one side with everyone else’s excess dirt. Off to one side, you see some of the older men turning smaller logs and trunks into sharpened stakes to be put into the dirt pile in order to dampen charges. “So, how was that night with Sada,” Knut says, grinning that dopey smile he has. “Haven’t seen you since earlier that day, but Erik’s been telling everyone that will listen about how you smashed Anders.”“Wild,” you say, smiling widely. “Sada is not a gentle girl, despite her size.”They press you for more details, but you deny them their sick game, and instead turn the tables to Erik.“So, since you’re all so interested, how did things end up with Ingrid,” you say, grinning broadly as Erik blushes, something you weren’t even sure the stoic pessimist was even capable of.“Like you get to know,” he says. “You’ll find out along with everyone else.”The teasing and ribbing continues, as does the digging of the ditch. As nightfall nears, Gunnar comes to inspect the construction, and calls it completed. The four of you head to one of the three overturned longships, built up with logs and mounds of earth, and head off to sleep. You wake in the morning by Gunnar pounding a pair of cooking pots together outside the makeshift barracks, calling everyone outside. After a bit of chaos, the hundred or so men are fairly organized in a semicircle, with Gunnar in the middle. “Boats are heading out today! Twenty on each ship, the rest staying here to guard the camp,” he shouts over the din of the small crowd. “First ship is heading to some unpronounceable village. Buncha farmers, mostly food, but that’s what we’re here fore. Other ship’s going to a different unpronounceable village with me, a bigger village with a number of trading posts. Probably going to be a lot of amber and furs, but not as much grain or livestock. Taking volunteers for each now.”You exchange looks with your friends, and they seem to defer to you.>Go with the first ship for food>Go with Gunnar and the second ship for loot>Stay back and defend the camp>Write-in

>>808313>Stay back and defend the campThe best loot will probably be further down the river where villages are raided less often
For some reason I feel like the dreams each person had is actually them placing themselves in someone else's shoes. Such as Knut being the giant slayer, or Erik being the strategist. Erik is shit at games, which are slightly similar to command.Or maybe I am just high as fuck and can't remember who had what dreams. But Haskell is clearly either the giant slayer or fighter, because he out-fought a superior warrior and already has a large beastie to his name. Anders is more likely the raid master or fighter depending on where Haskell goes, more likely the raid master. Erik just goes to the last slot. But no, really, I may just be high.

“Let’s sit this first one out,” you say, turning to your friends. “These first ones will be closer to the coast, right,” you ask as you see Anders’ face deflate. He nods slowly. “So they’ll be raided a lot more. If we wait until the next set, we’ll be going inland further, where we’ll be getting better soil for food, and richer villages for plunder.”“That makes sense to me,” Erik says slowly as the crowd starts to disperse to the various meeting locations. The four of you walk back to the overturned boats, taking seats inside, leaning against the hastily building walls. “So, what’s the plan for now, then,” Knut asks, stretching his lanky legs out in front of him. “Those crews will be gone for a few days, so we have some time to kill.”“We could go out hunting,” Anders offers, licking his lips. “I could do with some fresh stuff. We’ll be living off salted pork and stale bread for a few weeks.”“Some of the other guys were talking about a feral vampire den not far from here,” Knut says, his eyes brimming with excitement of the unknown. “Taking them out would make the camp more secure, and would get our names out there to start.”“Or,” Erik say in his drone, “We could stay at camp and not end up in trouble that we can’t get ourselves out of,” he finishes, rolling his eyes.“What,” Anders says, “And pass up on the chance for Ingrid to hear about you gallantly slaying a few vampires,” he ends, giving Erik a small shove on the shoulder.“As long as it isn’t you giving me shit around her, I’ll take what I can get,” he says, pushing Anders laughing face away with a palm.>Go hunting>Find the vampire den>Stay at the camp (timeskip option, may have chances to socialize if you want)>Write in

>>809231>Find the vampire denLets get this out of the way
Some quick things Haskell would know about vampires. Shortly after rising, vampires are completely feral and stay in groups of between eight and thirty. They will hole up somewhere dark and dank, as they are nearly blinded in bright sunlight, and extended exposure gives them something similar to a particularly nasty sunburn. They'll attack nearly anything they see, and are usually naked after their clothes literally rot off them. As they 'age', they'll become more mature and sophisticated, eventually becoming your typical snobby, high-society vampire after about five years. Mature vampires despise the feral ones, as they feel they give the rest of them a bad name. They will typically root out infestations when they find out about them, and feel they are capable. Vampires do not use weapons or armor, preferring their natural speed and agility, along with sharp teeth and claw-like fingernails. Bites and other wounds from vampires are not infectious unless fatal, or very nearly fatal. They are disgusting creatures, though, and other infections may be likely. Have I told you guys about the different critters yet?

>>809252A mature vamp would easily kill half a dozen standard men. Feral vamps don't have the tactical sense or the physical prowess to do that. I'd say a lone person could probably take between three and five ferals, assuming he was prepared and well armed. You'll have a chance to talk tactics before the fight starts, though.Writing

“Let’s hit that vampire den,” you say, standing from your spot. “Don’t need them finding out we’re here, then hitting the camp at night.”“I’d agree with that,” Anders says, rising to meet you. “Gunnar hates the things anyway. This’ll get us on his good side.”“Let’s get going, then,” Knut says excitedly, grabbing a map from his pack. “It’s about two hours from here, if the other guys were right,” he exclaims, drawing a short path with his finger into the forest.“I just want it to be known I said this was a bad idea,” Erik says dejectedly as the four of you leave the makeshift home.About three hours later, you’re crouched behind a cluster of trees. The journey took longer than expected, as you had to circle around as to be upwind of the den. Looking at the mouth of the cave, it’s about ten yards across, and deep enough you can’t see the end. It’s midday, but the trees block out a good chunk of the light, so it has a sort of sunset feel to it.“We could find a few logs,” Knut says as he stretches his arms, preparing for combat. “Set them on fire with some pitch, roll them inside. Kill the fucks as they run out.”“Or,” Erik mentions, “we kill an animal, lay it out front. They hate the sunlight, but can’t resist raw meat. Be a good way to judge their numbers as they feed.”“I vote for running in, swords singing,” Anders says as he hefts his weapon in his hands, getting a feel for the weight. “No sense in fucking around, this is a straightforward problem. “Let’s get a log,” you say, standing from the thicket. “Me and Erik will find a dead, dry one, while you two hunt down enough flammable material to get it going.”They nod and stand, and the two pairs set off in different directions. About thirty minutes later, you and Erik are carrying an old, dried out tree trunk to the entrance of the cave. You stop at the cluster of trees for Knut and Anders to apply their finds to the log, mostly a combination of pitch and dried branches, before carrying it the rest of the way. Anders lights it with a flint and steel, and it’s burning hot and smokey in a matter of no time. Sticking the haft of your daneaxe under the log as Knut does the same with his spear, the two of you use the leverage to roll the log well into the cave before retreating back to the safety of the thicker forest. After a few short seconds, you hear the inhuman screams of a feral vampire, then more, followed by a mass of coughing fits. The creatures run out of the cave mouth, blinding their eyes from the sunlight, however dim. They hiss as they get caught in the thin rays of sunshine peeking through the forest, and turn to face the cave, trying to get close, but being forced out by heat and smoke. Now that they’re standing still, you can get a decent count. “Try to herd them into the cave mouth,” you say to Anders and Knut as you peel off to the right side. “Erik, try to thin the herd a bit.”They all nod, and Erik readies a pair of throwing daggers. When the other three of you are in position, with Knut in the middle and Anders on the far side, you charge, screaming, hoping to catch the beasts off guard. Two charge you immediately, nearly in a sprint before they even turn around. You tip the head of the axe forward and allow the first to impale itself on the point, before delivering a kick to the chest of the second one, burying the axe into it with a downward chop. Knut isn’t so lucky. The vampire deftly dodges his first thrust of the spear, and leaps upon him. Knut manages to get the spear handle between him and the monster, but they are both forced to the ground with Knut on his back, trying desperately to keep the vampire from finding purchase.Andes is charged by two, and swings at the first with his axe. He overestimates the distance between him and it, and his handle bounces harmlessly off the beasts head, knocking it loose from his hand. Acting quickly, he brings the blade of his sword down where the shoulder meets the neck, nearly severing the head. He turns to the second creature, just a touch too late to block a slash from it’s claws. He gets four gouges across his forearm, and backs up a few paces, creating distance while he holds the sword with two hands.Erik lets one of the daggers fly. It plants itself cleanly in the back of the vampire, who screams wildly as Knut takes advantage of the confusion to push it off and stand up. His second dagger flies just as true, and finds itself in the belly of another vampire, who falls to his back, clawing crazily at the wound.>Round 1, over>17 vampires: 3 dead, 1 lightly wounded (back) 1 moderately wounded (Stomach)>Anders: Lightly wounded (left forearm) (half-disarmed)>Erik has 3 throwing daggers left>The small black dot is Anders' axe>Plan of action?

This isn’t bad yet, you think to yourself, taking stock of the situation. But it could turn that way in a hurry. Anders is bleeding, and you can see the Vamps starting to go into some sort of frenzy. Knut may be standing, but he still seems unsteady. You’re going to have to take drastic action. You plant the end of your axe in the soft forest soil, and draw in as big a breath as you can fit in your lungs. Throwing your torso forward, you shout as loudly as you can, a primal scream that you can feel start in your core. You feel the leaves shaking around you, and the forest is silent for a short time after you finish, as you watch the heads of most of the vampires snap towards you. You shout again, trying to egg them into charging you, as you swing the axe fiercely, lunging at the nearest creature. You bury the axe in the side of it’s chest, cutting one arm completely off. It spasms as it falls to the ground, gasping for air, but unable to find any.Knut lashes out with his spear as one of the vampires rushes by, his blade slicing cleanly through its throat. It slams into the ground, sliding forward, dead before it stops moving. The scent of all the blood in the air seems to be whipping the vampires up into an even deeper frenzy. The beast that slashed Anders is too focused on the scent of fresh blood to be paying attention to anything else. It lunges at him, but stumbles over it’s own feet, dropping to all fours. Anders dispatches with a quick, ugly stab through the back, pinning it to the ground with his sword.Erik whips out two throwing daggers, dispatching the wounded vampires handily, the knives burying themselves up to the hilt in the center of their chests. They fall flat, coughing blood and shredded organs as they die.>Round 2, over>14 vampires: 5 dead>Anders: Lightly wounded (left forearm)>Of the remaining 9 vampires, 7 are charging you. The ones on your side will be on you during round 3, while the remainder will be on you in round 4. You stand defiantly as the creatures rush towards you, planting your feet into the ground. You thrust the daneaxe forward as if it were a spear, the tip of the axehead punching through the eye of the first vampire, and it falls to the ground limply. You pull the massive weapon back to deliver a second swing, but the monster is on you too quickly, the best you manage is to smack it in the face with the butt of your axe, crushing it’s nose and sending it stumbling back. It licks the blood pouring from the freshly broken oriface. You see it’s eyes flash from black to a deep, dark red as it screams a guttural noise, the blood bubbling on it’s face.Knut sees the third vampire rushing for you, and lunges forward, his lanky frame lending itself handily to the reach of the spear. The blade misses, narrowly, and the creature spins with inhuman speed to dodge the thrust and face Knut. He lunges forward, tackling the spindly man to the ground, his claws digging deep into your childhood friend’s shoulder. Knut swallows the scream of pain, but you can hear it even over the commotion from where you stand.Anders nimbly dodges a swipe from one of his opponents, finishing the pirouette with a downward slash that slices the thing’s arm off at the elbow. It stares dumbly at the stump, spurting thick crimson blood, as Anders follows up with a vicious uppercut that lifts the beast off it’s feet, sending it to the ground. He’s not so lucky with the second vampire, which takes advantage of it’s comrade’s, scoring four thick gashes up Anders’ back, sending him stumbling forward as he yells in pain. You see Erik begin to panic, but the dagger he throws saves Knut a second time, digging into the shoulder of the vampire pinning him. As it rears back to scream, the spearman takes advantage and turns the tables, rolling over on top of the vampire, choking it out with the spear haft. However, his grip is shaky at best, considering his wounded shoulder. Erik charges out of the forest, his shield held at his shoulder. He’s sprinting full bore, attempting to slam into the creature attacking Anders.>Round 3, over>9 vampires, 2 dead, 1 moderately wounded (Right shoulder, prone, grappled, being strangled) 1 moderately wounded (Nose)>Anders, moderately wounded (Left forearm, back)>Knut, lightly wounded (Left shoulder)>Of the 7 vampires remaining, 5 are charging you. You swallow, hard. These things cannot get to Knut, and Anders is hurting pretty bad. Erik is moving to help him, but the two will be overwhelmed if some of these decide to peel off. Before you have time to decide its a bad idea, you raise your axe above your head and charge, screaming bloody murder. Your first downward swing crushes through the blocking arms of the vampire, digging deep into it’s shoulder, nearly severing the arm off the torso. You feel a weight slam into your back, and fire punch into your back. You feel yourself being drug backwards, and as you move to push against it, your shoulder explodes in agony. You hear the beast on your back, trying to drag you down to complete the meal it begun by trying to close its jaws around your armor. In spite of the chaos, you take a moment to decide the reinforced stuff was worth every ounce of hacksilver.Fighting through the pain, you lash out wildly with your axe as another set of claws rend your armor on your bicep just as you blade connects, spilling the intestines of a vampire as it drops to its knees. The one that just struck you, though unfortunately not the one on your back, succumbs to the blood lust, and begins tearing into it’s dying brethren. The shrieks are nearly unbearable. Somehow, your mind clouded with pain and your balance completely fucked by the added weight on your back, you manage to use the haft of the axe to swat away an incoming attack, giving yourself a brief respite from two of the three remaining vampires.Knut is trying to choke out his vampire, but the beast fights back intensely. So hard, in fact, that it snaps the wooden handle of the spear. Thinking quickly, Knut presses it’s head down back into the dirt, earning a bite in the process. Using the cracked end of the shaft, he shoves it into the side of the monster’s neck, and it dies choking on it’s own blood. He abandons the broken weapon as he jumps up from his knees, rushing towards you as he draws his axe, ignoring his shield on the ground behind him.Anders attempts a thrust at the final vampire, but the creature catches it, in a fashion. Fully penetrating one hand down to the hilt, the frenzied creature tries for a slash at your friends head, but never connects. Erik slams into it, putting his full weight into the charge, bringing it to the ground. Using the edge of his shield, he caves in the skull of the gray, mottled monster. Anders is already running towards you, while Erik is tangled up in the limbs of his kill.>Round 4, over>7 vampires, 4 dead, 1 lightly wounded (nose), 1 feeding, 1 grappling Haskell>Anders: Moderately wounded (Left forearm, back)>Knut: Lightly wounded (Left shoulder)>Haskell: Seriously wounded (Back, right shoulder, left bicep) (Grappled)>Plan of action?

You reach back madly, attempting to find purchase on the creature. It’s soft, hairless body has nowhere for you to grab, though, and you’re running out of time. If this thing realizes it can just bite your neck, that’s it. Deciding to take drastic action, you jump as high as you can with the extra weight, pulling your knees to your chest. You bring the whole of your weight down on the vampire, and can hear the air escape his lungs as his jaw loosens it’s grip on your shoulder. You spin around to face the creature, grabbing it’s throat with one hand, and bringing your other fist crashing down into it’s face. You feel bones give under your blows as the beast flails wildly, earning you a few cuts on the forearm you’re using to pin it to the ground. Eventually, it expires under your hail of punches, and you roll off, exhausted and in agony. You look just in time to see Anders, sword in hand, hit the blood sucker whose nose you broke with a flying tackle. He hastily draws the blade over the monster’s throat, and is covered in thick, red ichor as it sprays from the arteries.Knut slows to a jog as he arrives, seeing you on your back, hand and arms bloody, and Anders dripping in the life giving fluid. He looks at the final vampire feeding on it’s deceased kin, and nearly gags at the savagery of it. With a look not dissimilar to pity, he raises his axe, and brings it smashing down on the back of it’s head.>Combat, over>Anders: Moderately wounded (Left forearm, back)>Knut: Lightly wounded (Left shoulder)>Haskell: Moderately wounded (Left bicep, back, right shoulder)>Loot: 17 vampire bodies in various states of dismemberment and disembowelment“Well,” Erik says as he arrives a few moments later. “Sure am glad we were don’t that in some dark cave. Would have gone even worse,” he says, shooting a dirty look to Anders.“Scars get girls, Erik,” Anders says, laying back, wiping blood from his face. “Tell me that bite scar Haskell’s gonna have isn’t gonna get him some pussy,” he finishes, motioning towards you.“Cave should be clear, now,” Knut says, trying to head off the conversation as he pulls his spearhead from the broken shaft. “We could check it out if you think there’s gonna be anything decent in there.”>Sure, never know what these freaks got in there>We’re too wounded to risk that right now>Write-in

“May as well,” you answer as Knut starts to bandage the bite on your shoulder. “Never know what those things dragged in there. Could be worth something.”“Sounds good,” Anders replies as he turns his back to Erik, who begins treating the long gashes up to his shoulders. You wince as Knut puts a chewed up leaf of some sort on the cuts on your back, and begins wrapping your torso tightly with bandages. You aren’t sure where he’s pulling them all from, but he also covers your arm with them. You look over, and Erik is also finishing up with Anders’ wounds. You move to help Knut with his shoulder, but he waves you off. “Don’t want it to limit my motion,” he says, hefting his axe as he looks dejectedly at his broken spear. You give him a questioning look as you run a hand over the white fabric wrapped all over hell and back for your bite wound, but decide to shrug it off. Erik pulls his throwing knives from their respective targets, wiping the blood on the grass. The four of you edge nervously into the cave, the smoke still thick in the air. The log is still burning hot, a dead vampire trapped under it, half cooked. In the dim light it gives off, you can see a large chamber about ten yards high and thirty yards across. There are heaps of tattered clothing, rotted meat, and cracked bones scattered seemingly at random. In the back, you can barely see a small tunnel and the wall that divides into a left and a right half. You can’t see where either ends. You begin stepping further in, but Knut stops you with a hand on your good shoulder. He waits a few moments for Anders and Erik to get out of earshot, arguing between themselves who’s going to dig through the piles of refuse.“Hey,” he says nervously, unable to look at you. “I just wanted to thank you. I was in a tight spot, and you threw yourself into some shit to make sure it didn’t get worse. That means a lot to me.”>Reply to Knut, write in only>Search the front chamber>Go down the left tunnel>Go down the right tunnel>Write-in

Sorry for disappearing, guys. Dozed off last night, then woke up to a bit of a family emergency. Gonna archive this thread, then run 4.5 tomorrow at the usual time, maybe a bit earlier
Joy to read, thanks for writing! Looking forward to our heroes discovering that vamp monsters only collect skulls, many different sizes but still worthless... Skull helmets?
