Girls Und Panzer Quest 3: It’s starting to get serious! The Tournament and the League begin!

Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/u/RafaelQM1

Thursday 25th April (Day 18)

You are Fritz Hermann, ace tanker and commander of the Panther II Werewolf. Currently, you are facing a tanker’s greatest enemy, Paperwork. While you often managed to escape it given your relative lack of fluency in Japanese your position as vice-commander meant that paperwork finding itself to your desk was unfortunately inevitable. You put your pen down and cast your thoughts back to your team’s performance against Maginot.

Rewards:
>All teams that participated gain x2 XP (10)
>All teams that participated gain a skill
>Hippo team is now mildly famous.

You didn’t have Tankery practice this morning, all teams that participated in yesterday’s match got this morning off, leaving only your crew and Rabbit team which wasn’t much of a practice

3 or 4 shots in a single turn will be worth it. If we both use it on the same time, it could fool the enemy team thinking all our tanks are firing when it's just the M3 Lee and Werewolf.

> Do some drills, just Werewolf and Rabbit team (+10XP)

You decide to make it up to Rabbit team, they had not been very happy at being left out of the Maginot battle and so jumped at the opportunity to train with you.

That morning was spent alternating between being bait and the hunter. Surprisingly, Rabbit team were pretty good. It seems they’d been practising as they were able to catch you out more than once, covering Werewolf, and yourself, in the paint rounds used for tank hide and seek.

> Call someone Chovy

After morning lessons passed in their usual blur, you found yourself with some free time at lunch. Grabbing a salmon sandwich from the cafeteria, you make your way to an empty classroom to call Anchovy and find out more about what she wants from you.

“Hello, this is Pepperoni you’ve gotten through to the office of Il Duce. How can I help you?” Pepperoni, the black-haired girl who accompanied Anchovy last time answered.

“It’s Fritz Hermann, Anchovy asked for my help with the Sensha-Dō team at the Tea Party.” You reply.

“Ah yes I remember you! Sure I’ll put you through to Il Duce, hang on a moment.” With that, you’re put on hold. It’s a good five minutes of elevator music before Anchovy picks up.

“Commander Hermann! Glad to hear from you again. You’re calling about my offer right?” Anchovy sounds relieved. You press on regardless.

“I am, I’d like to know more about what it would entail.” You say. Anchovy’s offer at the party hadn’t been very full of details.

“Of course! What I need you for Commander Hermann is to help me inspire Anzio!” She starts very upbeat but what follows is most certainly not. “The only thing keeping Anzio afloat right now is its culinary program, and I wouldn’t be a good Duce if I didn’t try to change that. My subjects don’t really care for Sensha-Dō but if it’s the best way to diversify Anzio. To keep them safe when I leave.” She sighs. “That’s where you come in Commander if you know a way to help me get them interested in Sensha-Dō I’d really appreciate it.”

“Is it not perhaps the fact that Anzio lacks tanks?” You start. “From what I’ve heard you mainly use the tiny CV. 33s, perhaps their disdain for Sensha-Dō stems from that?” You offer.

“No, you see Fritz, most of the school’s money gets allocated to other stuff. The stuff they enjoy more, like pasta festivals, right? So I have no money to spend on better tanks.” She sounds frustrated, it’s obvious this has been plaguing her for a while.

“You would do that for us? Oh, thank you Commander Hermann!” She sounds ecstatic and you can’t help but smile. It might’ve been helping a rival school, but you were never one to turn down a pretty girl in need.

“Just remember to tell them that Fritz Herman is calling in his favour and they’ll get you what you need. Otherwise, see you next week.” Helping them out might cause problems down the line, especially if you end up facing them in the tournament but who could fault Anchovy’s desire to protect her school? Not you, that’s for certain.

“I will, see you then!” She says before promptly putting down the phone. No doubt to call Munster and see what they could do for her.

> Reflect on the strengths of each team at Maginot (Get their new skills)

You head for the tank storage warehouses at the back of the school, as you enter you see all the different teams going about their business. Anglerfish team was hunched over a table, consulting some documents; Hippo team painting another Kill Marker onto their tank; the gaming club had turned a corner of the warehouse into a gym and were pumping iron and the volleyball team was playing volleyball. Nodding at their good work you head to beaten up sofas in the corner and get to work brainstorming your previous match.

Anglerfish Team
> Bouquet – When firing in concert with at least two other tanks it is a guaranteed hit. (Can be used twice)

Turtle Team
> Knife fighter – Move and shoot first at ranges of 2 tiles or less

Duck Team
> Cheeky rascals – When used all enemy tanks within range focus on this tank (Can be used once)

Hippo Team
> Double-tap – If a kill is scored automatically take another shot at a target in range

Anteater Team
Bulwark – Can contest hits taken in defence of another tank

As the other teams filter out of the Warehouse, you get to work on one of the more inglorious tasks Tanking has to offer, cleaning. Usually, you’d have your crew to help you but while you’d been at Maginot, they’d done most of the normal maintenance, leaving today’s mess to you. You strip off your shirt, and grab a hose, starting with the tracks which had gotten nice and muddy. Great.

Someone enters the warehouse.

“Hello any- Fritz?” You turn and see Yuzu looking at you very hard. You offer a wave.

“Hi Yuzu, I was just cleaning off Werewolf, what are you doing here?” You ask.

“Just… doing my rounds before I go back to the office to do some paperwork…” She murmurs. “Would you mind if I did it here? I wouldn’t mind the distract- I mean I wouldn’t want to distract you.”

“Of course not, I’d love the distraction, cleaning a tank bores me to tears.” You say, distracted by a particularly stubborn paint stain. She scurries off and comes back with a stack of papers, taking a seat on the sofa in the corner.

You talk a lot with Yuzu over the next couple hours about everything and nothing and all in between. Your families and the woes of being the eldest sibling; Tankery and her powerslide during the match as well as the paperwork and how much you both hate it. Eventually, you fall into a comfortable silence, both of you concentrated on your assigned task.

As you finish you turn back to look at her. She’s asleep, wrapped up in your jacket that you had left on the sofa, a pile of discarded paperwork sitting in front of her.

> Grab some coffee for the two of you and see if you can help with the paperwork

You sigh and shake your head. Yuzu the poor girl seemed constantly overworked and this was just further proof of it. You walk to the small kitchenette in the corner of the warehouses and brew some coffee. You take the coffee and the sugar the table and begin spooning some into your coffee as she begins to wake up.

“Good Morning sleepyhead.” You laugh to yourself as you say it. “Or should I say good evening?”

“Bwuh?” Comes here intelligent response, she rubs her eyes and yawns before trying again. “Oh, is that for me?” You nod your head and she murmurs a thank you, taking a sip before turning back to you.

“Do you need some help with the paperwork?” You push yourself to ask. You hated it with a passion but for Yuzu, you’d suck it up. She looks taken aback for a second but smiles.

“Yes, I’d love some help. Usually, it’s just me on my lonesome struggling through the mountain before me.” She shifts through the pile and deposits a small stack onto your lap. “Here, these are the ones about Sensha-Dō, you should be able to help with these.” With that, you get to work. You’re nowhere near as fast as Yuzu who’s absolutely tearing through the pile, but you do a respectable job of it, enough to lighten her load which is enough for you to be happy with your contribution.

.

.

.
The two of you carry the mountain of paper back to the President’s office and dump it on Yuzu’s desk, to be sorted in the morning.

“Fritz…” You turn at the address and find Yuzu filling your arms, hers wrapped around you and her breasts pressing into your chest. “Thank you for your help today.” She strains on her tip toes, kissing you on the cheek. The warmth on your cheek is electric, and you find your cheek moving with her as she withdraws only disengaging when you have to start bending over to follow her any further. You look down, and she’s smiling, a wide genuine smile mixed with no small bit of relief at not having to be at school all night.

“C’mon,” you murmur. “Let’s get you home before the public morals committee accuses us of doing something lewd.” She acquiesces, taking your hand in her own as you leave the President’s office.

Friday 26th April (Day 19)

You stagger into school. Last night had been a late one, between escorting Yuzu home; cleaning Werewolf and doing paperwork not much time had been left for sleeping. Nevertheless, you were up, and ready to get back to the grind.

Some artillery drills, one speedy tank is off in the distance and speeding around. The Ooarai team can see it but can't get a clean shot, so they have to shoot upward to land a hit. So artillery training useful if enemy tank is being a bitch hiding behind other tanks.

You decide on something a little bit different today, firing drills, but instead of the standard line up and fire at a target, you go for something different. Indirect fire.

“Volleyball club!” You call as you approach duck team, their captain, the short one come over to you.

“What’s up, Fritz?” She asks. “Need the best volleyball players this side of Japan for something?”

“I need the fastest tank drivers on this side of Japan.” You counter. “I got a mission for them.”

“Well you came to the right people.” She puffs out what little chest she has. “We’re as fast as you can get!” You smirk at that.

“Good. Here’s what I need you to do…”

It didn’t take much convincing to get Duck team to agree to be bait. A veiled insult implying they couldn’t do it and a mention that you had an in on the student council and they were all for it. And that’s how you found yourself watching from a tower as Ōoarai’s other tanks tried and failed to hit the I-go with indirect fire all the while, the volleyball club laughed at them and generally insulted anyone who didn’t play volleyball. Good stuff.

> All teams gain 7XP and are now BLOODIED (2 rerolls)
> In the next team battle all tanks have the long-range modifier applied instead of the very-long range modifier at the very-long range.

> Find out what Anzu wanted

As lunch approaches, you decide it’s time to answer the summons of the Student Council. You knock twice and give it a second before opening the door.

“Commander Hermann.” Anzu greets you with a smile and a wave. “So good to see you, you here for Yuzu?”

“Unfortunately, not,” you lean down to kiss the girlfriend in question on the cheek who blushes but continues with her paperwork. “I’m here because you said you needed to talk to me.”

“Indeed, I do come take a seat.” You do so and Anzu begins to talk. “I must commend you Commander; your performance so far has been exemplary. Frankly, I expected to lose to both Maginot and St. Gloriana yet here we are, undefeated so far.” She pauses, eating a potato chip before continuing. “Your performance and that of Hippo team have caught the eyes of Tankery Forum Hearts of Iron, you heard of them.”

You nod, Hearts of Iron was a pretty well-known English language Tankery blog who’d covered Werewolf before. Being on their front page had helped tremendously back in Germany and would likely help again here.

“The reporter arrives on Monday; they’re going to cover the whole team but with a particular focus on you and Hippo team. I don’t need to tell you how important this is.” She swings around in her chair for a second before returning to you. “There’s also the Duelling league to consider. Our first match is on Wednesday (Day 24) so we need to consider what format we want to enter.”

“Format?” You ask. Anzu nods her head.

“Yup, the 1v1s or the 2v2s. Aside from the difference in tank numbers required, they’re practically identical. Ōoarai can only afford to enter one so we thought to leave the decision to you.”

> 2v2, You’d been trained in the art of hunting in small groups and now was a time to use it

Anzu scribbles something down on a piece of paper before handing it to Yuzu.

“Vice-President, enter us for the 2v2 please.” She turns back to you. “A good choice, you’ll need to pick two other tanks to accompany you to each match then, you can pick from those when you know who you’re against.”

“Any luck finding a crew for the Crusader?” You ask her. She blows a raspberry and shakes her head.

“No luck I’m afraid, I was thinking of replacing Duck Team’s I-Go with it but that’s a bridge we can cross when the tank is operational.” She doesn’t look happy at that. Your next question makes her even more unhappy.

“Is there any money for tank upgrades in the budget?” Surely Ōoarai must have something.

She sighs and shakes her head. “Our recent wins have been good for donations but we’re still running in the red.” Then Momo decides to butt in.

“That’s why it’s imperative the interview goes well, it’s a chance for donation windfall from across the world! It might mean nothing to a school like Black Forest but to us, it’s the difference between life and death!” She’s starting to hyperventilate, you see Yuzu get up and put a hand on Momo’s shoulder, calming her. The council turns back to you. “Any other questions?”

“One more.” You start. “Is there anything I should mention in particular to the reporter? Or anything I shouldn’t.” Momo thinks a minute before replying.

“That we’re the underdogs.” She’s putting her PR rep skills to work. “Everyone loves a good underdog story and even with Werewolf here we are the underdogs. As for what not to mention just use your common sense.”

“Great! Is that all?” Anzu asks. At your nod, she smiles and shoos you out the room. “Good. Now get out of here. Koyama can’t work if you’re in here distracting her.” You hear a muffled ‘hey’ from Yuzu as the door shuts behind you.

You check your messages as you walk. There’s one from Koume as usual, a meme which you respond to in kind. More importantly, there’s one from Takumi. It’s a video of Hippo team killing two tanks in one shot and ‘!!!!!!!’ as the caption.

You decide to work on speed loading with Ōoarai, if they could get more shots down range then it would improve Ōoarai’s chances immensely, especially given the numbers disadvantage you’re likely to be at. It went poorly. Despite being tankers, the loaders were still teenage girls. Strong teenage girls, but still teenage girls and hence prone to giving in to exhaustion when pushed into loading too fast. The one standout was Rabbit team’s loaders, Yuuki and Saki who manage to keep up with the pace Axel managed to set.

>Rabbit team gain the skill double shot – can fire twice per gun per turn once per match

It’s been a while since you’ve been on /tanks/, probably over a month since the last time was while you were in Germany. You scroll through until you find Heavy Tank General. You always hated /HtG/, mostly because they put down all of your wins against heavy tanks to luck, despite it clearly being a case of you being the better tanker. You attach a gif of Erwin’s StuG getting a double kill and a short low tier bait caption.

> bu- bu- but muh heavy tankerinos are still relevant111!!!

With that out of the way, you head to bed, wondering what you’d come back to in the morning.

Saturday 27th April (Day 20)

You wake up and decide to check whether your bait had caught any idiots. You are unable to access /tanks/. For a good half an hour you refresh the page until finally, it gets through. It seems that you did get some replies.

/HtG/ was absolutely seething at your bait, calling you all manner of names and trying to defend their precious heavy tanks, many trolls had jumped on the opportunity, turning /HtG/ into a quagmire of Tank Destroyer trolling and shitposting. Included in their number is notorious shitposter The Last Destroyer. Truly glorious. Your shitpost was indeed a success.

> Maho Duel

You decide that it’d be rude to keep a lady waiting any longer than necessary, it was time to introduce Maho to the business end of Werewolf’s gun as she had in fact requested. The phone rings twice like last time before she picks up.

“Nishizumi Maho.” She answers. Straight to the point as usual. You reply in kind.

“It’s Fritz.”

“Ah, Fritz.” Her voice lightened slightly at your name. “Good to hear from you again, is this a social call or business?”

“Business.” You reply. “I’d like to arrange the date and time of our duel if that’s alright with you.”

“Of course, it is.” She pauses for a second and you can hear the rustling of papers before she continues. “Name wherever and whenever is convenient for you and we shall have our duel.”

“How about, this Saturday coming up and we duel on that mountain field?”

“Yes, I know the one you’re talking about. Very well, see you then.”

Once again, your skills at sifting through information come in handy, you’re able to filter the wheat from the chaff and find out lots of interesting information. Of particular note is a couple points about some of the stronger teams in Japanese Tankery

> Saunders’ Pershing is going on tour before the tournament begins
> Saunders has bought two more easy-8s with the 76-millimetre gun and upgraded three of its Shermans to Jumbos
> Pravda has bought more tank destroyers
> Black Forest is rumoured to have bought a massive new tank

Filing away that information for later, you decide it’s time to properly acquaint yourself with the gaming club.

Question: Is there an upgrade package for our tank like the Stug? I know we're the big dog (hue) at the school right now, but as we win and get more and better tanks, along with the crews skilling up, that will not last.

Also, I am enjoying this quest. It has the right mix of technical, interpersonal, and world building. Keep it up.

Also also;
Can we go tank hunting again in the ship soon? I'm hoping there is at least one more 'Merican tank down there. Hopefully a far better one to replace the Lee, as much as it's grown on me.

It’s not hard to find the gaming club, they were at the Ōoarai schoolship’s library, in the computer labs – the only place with high-speed internet on the carrier.

As you walk in, you pause to observe them for a moment. The three of them are playing World of Tanks, and they’re pretty good at it from what you can see.

They’re running a three-person Bat-Chat platoon, absolutely devastating any other tanks they come across through a combination of teamwork and firepower. The match ends, and you speak up.

“You guys are pretty good.” They jump and turn.

“Y-you scared us nyaa.” The one with cat ears, Nekota says. “What are you even doing here?”

“I need a second for the duelling league on Wednesday, you’re my first pick if you’re available.” You reply.

“But why us momo?” The one with an eyepatch chips in. Did they all have some verbal tic? You ignore it and decide to be honest.

“Werewolf is good at a distance from range, you guys are pretty good at soaking hits, so I think between the two of us we should have it covered. Add Hippo into the mix and we can rock any situation.” You explain. The grey-haired one nods.

“That makes sense Piyo… Fine! We’re in.” She exclaims, the others nodding at her proclamation.

“That’s fine by me.” You pull out your laptop. “Now let me show you how it’s done.”

You do… pretty good with the gamers. You went down the E50M line (obviously, the Panther II was down that line) and your highly accurate gun acted as a good compliment to the Bat-Chat’s ridiculous burst damage. Suffice to say, you earned Anteater’s respect.

As you leave the library for home, you ring Yuzu, to ask if she’s free to go to Anzio with you tomorrow.

“Fritz? How are you!” She chirps happily. You can’t help but smile

“I’m good Yuzu, listen. I’m going to Anzio tomorrow to have a look around before I assist Anchovy next week. Want to make a date of it?”

“More Italian?” She mock huffs before laughing. “I’d love to Fritz, are we going by bike?”

“We are.” You affirm. “I’ll come by yours about nine and we can ship out.”

“Sounds good to me.” She replies softly. “See you then.”

Good stuff.

Just did some looking up on what the Panther II was going to get. Apparently, there was a gas turbine powerplant in the works called the GT 103 that would have given the tank about 1,200 shaft horsepower. Those crazy germans. Wonder if might be somewhere...

Sunday 28th April (Day 21)

You’re up bright an early today given it’s going to be a long one. You meet Yuzu outside her apartment. She’s dressed casually, and walks over to your bike when you pull up outside.

“Good Morning Fritz.” She plants a kiss on your helmet, giggling at your unamused expression before donning her own. She wraps her arms around your waist and secures herself on the bike. With your girlfriend secure, you set off for the port and from there to Tochigi and Anzio.

.

.

.

After a two-hour ride, you find yourself at Anzio’s homeport in Tochigi. After parking your bike, you and Yuzu make your way onto the Anzio carrier.

The Anzio tankery team could stand out among their school more, but instead of shows or festivals, maintaining a present presence in using their tankettes as delivery vehicles. Perhaps even delivering the best food out to their school and attracting more potential members.

>Grab a snack from a food stall while we look for Anchovy.

“How about we grab something to eat while we look for Anchovy?” Yuzu suggests. You nod your approval and the two of you wander through Anzio, looking for a place to eat. You don’t have to walk very far before coming across a plaza filled with food stalls. “Is there some kind of festival?” Yuzu murmurs, and you find yourself agreeing as the two of you walk into the mix.

“Excuse me.” You address a pair of students lining up for ice cream. “Is there a festival of some kind happening?”

They laugh and shake their heads. “Nah, this is just lunch at Anzio! Great food at great prices.” You thank them and keep walking. Food stalls for lunch… Brilliant.

Eventually, you spy a familiar face working a pasta stand.

“Pan fried Neopolitan! Get it here!” It’s Pepperoni, one Anchovy’s assistants from the Tea Party,

“Pepperoni!” You call to her and she turns to face you, eyes lighting up in recognition. “I remember you! Commander Hermann was it! Here to enjoy Anzio’s cuisine again? I can’t say I blame you!”

“More I’m here to see Anchovy, but we decided to make a date of it.” You say as you nudge Yuzu.

“A very good choice.” Pepperoni nods sagely as she finishes the pasta she was making. “No place better for a date, we have the best food in Japan!” She places two plates of the pasta she made down in front of her. “Spaghetti Neopolitan, two plates for six million Lira!”

You scratch your head and look to Yuzu who also shrugs. “I have Yen or Euros?” You offer.

“Fine, six hundred Yen.” That’s a little more realistic than asking for a defunct currency. You hand over the money, a little over five euros and take the food to a table as Pepperoni departs to find Anchovy for you.

“Seems like a very lively place.” Yuzu offers as the two of you take a seat with your food. You nod your agreement and enjoy the moment for a little bit before you get to business.

“I told Anchovy to ask the Munster tank museum for help, I doubt they’ll give her much, but they should be able to put her into contact with a group in Italy who can help them.” You take another bite of your pasta. “I’m here to help them with their tanking culture, apparently they put too much emphasis on snack time compared to tank time.”

“Well said, Commander!” You turn to see who’s addressing you and see Anchovy flanked by Pepperoni and Carpaccio. “As you can see Anzio is unrivalled in its culinary capacity, but the girls need inspiration! If they can sacrifice just one more snack time a week then I’m sure we can scrounge up the money to become a real threat!”

> How did your phone call to Munster go?

At that Anchovy’s smile softens from her ‘Duce in command’ smile to a genuine one.

“It went well, thank you, Commander Hermann. They themselves were not able to help but they put is in touch with the ‘Museo Storico della Motorizzazione Militare’ in the motherland-“ Aren’t they all Japanese? “-who have graciously decided to sponsor Anzio with a new tank! For that we are grateful.” She slides a small box across the table. Inside is a card with a chibi Anchovy on it saying, ‘Thank You!’. “Even if you are unable to help us any further, we appreciate that you did that Commander. Inside are Anzio meal coupons! Good for food from any stall for a year!”

>How do you think I can go about inspiring them?

“Hmm, back when Sensha-Dō was established in Japan, Anzio was one of the foremost schools! Perhaps you could use that in some way.” Carpaccio buts in. Anchovy nods.

“Yes, the library might have more on that! It might help you inspire the girls!”

> Your school places great stock on culinary capacity, you should take advantage of that by doing service in that regard. Delivery. With the tankery team as an asset towards the school's culinary capacity, support will increase.

“Including the Sensha-Dō team in Anzio’s culinary capacity, what a novel idea! Pepperoni! Write that down!” She turns back to you. “Not even here an hour and already coming up with good ideas! We made the right choice!”

> Yuzu might be able to help if you let her glance over your budget
> Yuzu and Momo both help in some capacity in exchange for a tank (and that dinner)

Yuzu nods at that and makes to speak. “I can’t promise anything, but if there is money to find, I can find it!”

“You mentioned a CV. 33 in exchange for our help?” You butt in. Anchovy waves dismissively.

“Yes, yes. You help us out and Anzio will loan Ōoarai one of our tanks in perpetuity blah blah.” She’s waving her riding crop around, Pepperoni and Carpaccio having to duck out of the way. “Let it be known that Il Duce always pays her debts! No matter who to or how big!”

An impromptu crowd has formed around Anchovy to cheer her. Seems she’s very popular in Anzio

“Well then Fritz, let’s get started, shall we?” Yuzu whips the sauce off her mouth before standing. “Take me to the budget office and Fritz to your archives. We’ll find something for you if it’s the last thing we do!” You can only nod as your girlfriend takes charge of the situation.

“We’ll make a Duce out of you yet!” Anchovy seems to like the assertive side of Yuzu. “Carpaccio! Take the gentleman to the ‘archivi della biblioteca navale della scuola Anzio’!” The blonde girl smiles and gestures for you to follow her.

The archives are pretty big, really big. Perhaps the biggest you’ve ever seen. Carpaccio seems to notice your awe and chips in. “Yep! Anzio is a very storied school! Anything you need, you’ll find in here.” As she leaves, you crack your knuckles. It’s time to work.

As you work, you discover a story. A story of the Italian school that could, under its first Duce, JuliusChovy, Anzio was undefeated, winning nine consecutive National Sensha-Dō tournaments. It brought fame to Anzio, it brought money to Anzio, but most importantly it brought more snack times. By giving them up at the beginning of her reign JuliusCHovy was able to make Anzio so wealthy they could have five snack times a day, compared to the two that they currently have. You scribble down the details and sprint to Carpaccio.

“Anchovy! Now!” She doesn’t question you, and the two of you take off towards the Duce’s office.

You arrive at the office, and find Anchovy dancing around it in joy, with a smug looking Yuzu reclining on the sofa next to her.

“Hermann! Yuzu hear cut the number of olives in our school salad by one per serving and saved us thousands! Tell me you have good news too!” You hand her the paper with all the research you have on JuliusChovy. She snatches it from your hand and scans it before jumping onto her desk. “The story of JuliusChovy! Capital! This should be inspiration enough for even the most obstinate of students!” She turns to you and Yuzu and points her crop at you. “You sir and madam are henceforth friends of Anzio! And that means you’re always welcome! Please! You must stay for dinner.”

You make to agree but Yuzu cuts you off. “We’d love to, but we must leave so we can get back to our carrier before it leaves.” Anchovy sighs and nods.

“Yes yes but worry not! Anzio will still show its appreciation! That is a promise!” Another crowd praising Anchovy has somehow formed inside her office. You take that as your cue to leave.

You yawn as you wake up. You and Yuzu barely got back before the carrier departed Ōoarai and thereafter had little time to sleep before school today. Nevertheless, you’re up and ready to go.

[With this interview ‘minigame’ what you choose to say impacts how the public and other tankers see you. Remember, the aim is to make Ōoarai and yourself as popular as possible, but you don’t want to alienate the other schools. Pick your answers and I’ll write it up afterwards]

You take a deep breath as you walk into the warehouse that morning. Reporters. You’d dealt with them before in Germany and while you knew how important they were it didn’t mean you had to like it. As you enter, you see a blonde lady standing there, gawking at Werewolf.

“You must be the reporter.” She turns and smiles as you say that.

“Yes! Yes I am!” She offers a hand which you shake. “I’m Winry, from Hearts of Iron and you’re Commander Hermann correct?”

“I am.” You reply with a nod.

“Perfect, let’s get started.” She walks over to Werewolf. “So this is the infamous Werewolf, tell me Commander – you were doing pretty well in Germany, what made you decide to come to Japan?

> You’d not thing much of them but they punch well above their weight

“Let’s talk more specifically about the StuG’s double shot in the last match against Maginot. What do you think of that?”

“Perfect, let’s get started.” She walks over to Werewolf. “So this is the infamous Werewolf, tell me, Commander – you were doing pretty well in Germany, what made you decide to come to Japan?

It was an easy question you think, probably intended to help someone new to interviews ease into it.

“I wanted a change of pace, Japanese tankery is very different from German tankery, both in terms of scale and tactics.” You pause for a second. “With German tankery it’s either one on one duels or full length one hundred versus one hundred campaigns. Japanese tanking is a happy middle ground.” She nods and scribbles down your answer on her notepad before continuing.

“You chose Ōoarai instead of a number of other schools that are better picks on paper, why’s that?” You think for a second. You decide against mentioning how good it would look on your CV or being a Hail Mary from a struggling school and instead go with an opinion that you came to develop over the past couple weeks.

“Ōoarai didn’t have a tank program to speak off, I saw it as an opportunity to help build something. A legacy greater than just myself.”
“And you’ve done a good job of it so far Commander. You’re two for nought right now correct?”

“Correct.” You nod. “But it wouldn’t have been possible without Commander Nishizumi and the rest of the team.” You add.

“Speaking of the team, what can you tell me about them? Assuming it’s not a secret of course.” The last part is delivered with a wink and a nudge. You laugh at it and think for a moment.

“They’ve got grit and determination, just not the money to back it up like some of the big boys.” She hums her agreement before chipping in.

“Big boys like St. Gloriana’s? You beat them pretty handily in your first match if I recall, as well as in the duel afterwards.” You make to say something in defence of Darjeeling and co. but Winry continue.

“Let’s talk more specifically about the StuG’s double shot in the last match against Maginot. What do you think of that?” You can’t help but smirk at the memory of hearing Hippo team had taken out two tanks with one shot.

“Usually shots like those are one in a million, but with the skill Erwin and her girls have it’s more like one on a hundred. I don’t doubt that we’ll see a similar display of talent from them again.” Erwin and the girls were deadly, and you had no doubt that they were among Ōoarai’s best.

“Speaking of the future, Ōoarai’s set to participate in the duelling league and the high school tournament. What do you think of your chances?” You pause. You don’t want to brag and risk annoying other schools you’d become friends with but at the same time you didn’t want to see Ōoarai short. You decide on a middle ground.

“Ōoarai is pretty new, but I reckon we’ll get far. If nothing else, I’d bet on us winning one at the very least.” She nods sagely, no doubt your words would be made into a great story. You just hope it’s one that doesn’t piss off the other schools.

“And the final question is about you. How is it being one of the only boys in a girls’ school? I can’t imagine it’s easy for you…” She trails off, waiting for your response. You smirk. This was an easy one.

“The girls and people of Ōoarai have been nothing short of friendly to me. It’s been really easy.”

With that out of the way, you make to leave. Except you’re interdicted by a familiar Italian themed schoolgirl.

“It is I! The great Il Duce, here to repay my debt to Commander Hermann and Vice President Koyama of Ōoarai academy!” She’s brought a pair of CV. 33s with her. Winry immediately whips out her notebook.

“A debt you say?” She asks Anchovy who answers before you can interrupt.

“Indeed! Commander Hermann and his beau visited Anzio and assisted me, Duce Anchovy! In inspiring my loyal subjects to put their hearts into Sensha-Dō.” She turns and winks at you. The cheeky midget knows exactly what she’s doing. “They did it with no regard for reward rather, they did it simply to help a school in need. Ōoarai academy is true practitioners of Sensha-Dō.” Winry is furiously scribbling, the page smoking from the friction. You’re about to but in but that’s when Momo rounds the corner. Momo is far more qualified than you, so you decide to leave it there and retreat.

[If it is unclear, this is a good thing. Helping Anchovy in exchange for a couple of shitty tanks made a good impression on her and will do the same on the public. Smart choice to do it early.]

> Meet with the teams participating in the duelling league on Wednesday

At lunch, you decide to call a meeting for the duelling league on Wednesday. Caesar arrives representing Hippo team and Nekota for Anteater team. You’re in the president’s office, the president in question relaxing in her chair on the other side of the office. Yuzu, unfortunately, is not around.

“All right ladies, here’s the game plan. On Wednesday we leave for the mainland, where we’ll be randomly assigned an opponent and a field. Once we get to the field, we’ll be able to see what tanks the enemy brought and they us. Then we pick our two and they do the same and we go win for Ōoarai.”

“How do they determine who wins the league?” Caesar asks. It’s the president who replies.

“Everyone plays everyone and whoever has the most wins at the end, wins. Easy Peasy!”

You spend the rest of Lunch discussing the relative strengths of your tanks. Anteater you decide would be decent as a frontline scout for either yourself or Hippo team. Hippo, a top tier sniper tank and you yourself were able to take either of the roles. With that discussed, you break for afternoon lessons

The CVs can wait you think. Or at least be left for someone else to deal with. You have more pressing issues to be concerned about, more specifically the duelling league match on Wednesday. You gather Hippo, Anteater and Duck team and lay out your plan.

“As you all know on Wednesday the duelling league begins. In order to prepare, Duck team I’d like you to act as our opponent. Your job is to try sneak past Anteater team and tag Hippo team with a paint round; Anteater team, your job is to spot for Hippo; Hippo team, yours is to think about concealment and aim. Hide yourself from Duck and take them out when the time comes.” All in all, it goes surprisingly well. Duck team manages to get through the first couple times but eventually the Chi-Nu is able to stop or spot the sneaky little I-Go most of the time and Hippo does an excellent job of filling Duck team with lead when they try to get close.

> In the next match Hippo team will fire first against targets being spotted by an ally.

> Anteater team has a -1 to awareness

With that done, you decide it’s high time you checked in with your favourite Panzer IV crew. As they’re leaving you call out to them.

“Anglerfish! Wait up!” They stop and turn, smiling when they see it’s you.

“Fritz!” Yukari vocalises their thoughts. “It’s been such a long time! What’s up!”

“I was wondering if you guys were free, I still need to pay you all back for that Birthday party.” You reply.

Miho waves her hands in front of her. “Oh that was nothing, anything for a friend.”

“Well friends hang out with each other, and that’s what I’d like to do.” You pause. “If y’all are free that is.”

“I think we are!” Saori butts in. “C’mon let’s go get some sweet potato ice cream!” She kicks Mako. “Come on Mako! You like ice cream don’t you? That’s worth waking up for.”

“The only thing that’s worth waking up for is sleep.” She deadpans, but she follows Saori, nonetheless.

It was fun, hanging out with Anglerfish. No online tankery, no strategizing about the next match, just teenagers being teenagers. Something you’d missed in the high stakes Tankery world you’d been living in.

Suppression training, being able to fire, load and radio in position while being under heavy fire. Tank has to return fire while being hit by other tanks and MG firing at them. Good multitasking practice.
Werewolf could be the one shooting with our MG, as they can train from short to long ranges

>Suppression training

You decide on suppression training, Machine Gun fire was a constat hazard in tournament Sensha-Dō matches and as such it needed to be trained against. The premise was pretty simple. You fire at your team mates with your MG 131 and close the distance. They had to go through normal drills while doing so.

Anglerfish team took it like a champ. You could easily see Miho’s experience, the girl still unbuttoned despite the gunfire hammering her tank expertly issuing orders to her crew.

The student council don’t show the same perseverance, while you’re at long range they manage to continue but eventually they succumb to the gunfire and are unable to do anything.

Duck team is similarly battered, but they continue on with their drills. In fact, their tank gives up before them. Popping a white flag under the sustained cannon fire.

The StuG gives a good showing as usual, the history girls seem unaffected, continuing their drills almost as well as if they hadn’t been under heavy machine gun fire.

The Freshmen surprise you. They do well at range but start to falter as you get closer. As you approach short range, you think you see a hatch opening for someone to run but it’s quickly closed, and they resume drills as if nothing happened. Good on them.

The Chi-Nu goes well. But then you get closer. Perhaps it’s because the tank had been continuously under fire last match or perhaps it’s because the gamers had been up too late last night. Regardless of what it was they cracked. And Broke. They had to be stretchered back to Ōoarai. They’d be fine, but were confined to bed rest till the end of the week, leaving you out a second for the duel

Well, looks like you’d be taking Duck team with you.

>Tell Anzu about your upcoming duel with Maho

At lunch, you decide it’s high time for Anzu to learn about your duel with Maho. She was able to get a tank out of St. Gloriana so perhaps she could do the same against Maho. You knock as you enter and take a seat opposite the president.
“Anzu, I have a duel with Black Forest on the weekend.” She’s uncharacteristically silence, her usual lazy smirk gone. She looks to Momo and Yuzu and nods before turning back to you.

“Commander Hermann-“ She usually referred to you as Fritz, this couldn’t be good. “-you must win this duel. Ōoarai needs the rep that would come from it, do you understand?” You nod back, not trusting your words at the moment.

“Is that all Fritz?” She says, back to normal apparently if her choice of name was to evidence. With that, you dismiss yourself wondering why it mattered so much.

You decide to take Duck team out into the field, you didn’t have long to get used to working together, but you’d been training together for the last two weeks, and Duck team were getting better at what they did so it was easier than you expected it to be. You were able to coax the student council into their tank in order to act as a spotting target for Team and it went alright. Duck team were no navy seals, but they did a decent job relaying information to you such that your gunner Ruby was able to nail turtle team more often than she would otherwise.

“Good work tonight ladies.” You say to the assembled teams that were going to duel tomorrow. “How about we make a party of it? We’ll use the apartment complex housing team Werewolf, what do you say?” At their affirmatives, you smile. “We can head there now.” As they begin to disperse towards the complex you approach Yuzu. “You’re coming as the Student Council liaison to the duelling team.” She looks confused for a second before she realises what you mean.

“Of course, Commander Hermann, I accept my sworn duty as a liaison.” Her words are serious, but the expression on her face is not.

“I’m glad.” You reply as you drag her behind you. The gathering is pretty fun, it’s not a party, and more just a get-together. You shared in the woes of the Volleyball party as they recounted the closure of their club and nodded along to the History club discussing the battle of Stalingrad. But, the best part is the liaison sitting next to you, who you get to spend an inordinate amount of time ‘discussing important liaison businesses’ which just so happened to require your mouths being pressed together. Definitely important business. Eventually, the other groups clear off, leaving only yourself and Yuzu.

“Do you need me to walk you home?” You ask her. “I know it’s pretty safe, but you can never be too sure.” She smiles at you exasperated and replies.

“No thanks Fritz, I wouldn’t want to inconvenience you.”

“You’re my girlfriend. You’re meant to inconvenience me.” It slips out of your mouth before you can stop it. You slap a hand over your mouth but it’s too late. Yuzu glares at you, but there’s no anger behind it, breaking down into a small laugh when she can’t hold it.

“How about you stay the night?” You suggest. “You can use my bed and I’ll sleep on the couch.” She considers it for a moment before nodding.

“Fine, but you can stay in your bed as well if you want Fritz. I would hate to kick you out and I trust you not to do anything.” You don’t need any convincing and get yourself ready for bed.

Ok right, I’m back and starting on the duel. Update soon.

Regarding Waifuing, I still feel a little guilty about kind of rushing it given we’re only like an eighth of the way through the quest so here’s the deal.

This is the ONE (1) chance you have to escape a route lock. I’ll engineer it in a way that there’s no hard feeling. This vote will be open till the end of this thread or until there is a clear consensus.

>Keep

If you vote to switch feel free to list (1) preference and I’ll work my QM magic to give you a chance to meet them. Otherwise, I’ll just introduce everyone as soon as possible and let you go wild.

Wednesday 1st May (Day 24)

You wake up alone, Yuzu no longer present in your bed. You see a note on your nightstand.

Thanks for letting me stay over, I left early so I could run home and get ready for school. -Yuzu

Despite yourself, Duck and Hippo team having today for the duelling league the rest of the Sensha-Dō teams didn’t. With a sigh, you lift yourself out of bed and start getting ready to tank.

.

.

.

The trip to the mainland is uneventful, you continue to scan your phone for any message from the duelling league on where you’ll be fighting and who your opponent will be. The field was to be released at ten and it’s nine fifty-five now. Your phone chimes. The abbey. You search in on google maps and get the first good look at the field you’ll be fighting in. According to the message, Ōoarai will be starting on the south side.

I drew on the map, seems like going down the middle is risky. Since we can get hit by the sides if they have fast tanks getting into those good positions, or camp at their starting spawn waiting for us.

Since none of us can shoot into each other spawns one of us has to make the move. Seems like the left side is just better, if they go down the right, we can shoot past the town. If they go left we should be able to take them on head to head

It doesn’t take long to get to the field. You opponents are already there, their tanks laid out. Your tanks are slowly unloaded opposite your opponents’ tanks. You scan the tank and see a symbol. Waffle academy.

You take a look at their line up and shake your head. Two Shermans with howitzers and a French light tank. Honestly, you don’t think any of them could even scratch Werewolf, let alone damage you.

You look back to your own tanks and make your pick.

Pick 2
> Werewolf (Panther II)
> Hippo Team (StuG III)
> Duck Team (I-Go)

Pick a Wolfpack
>Hunter-Killer
Werewolf has a faster tank scout for him. This tank cannot fire but any targets it spots for Werewolf are accuracy auto successes.

>Paladin-Ranger
Werewolf works with a tank to take out targets at long range. Werewolf takes any hits for the other tank and in exchange, the other tank gets an accuracy bonus

>Guard Dog
Werewolf guards the flag tank. As long as Werewolf is within close range of the flag tank he gains 2HP of ‘armour’ (used before his 2HP) and 1 Penetration save but any shots directed at the flag tank hit him.

Well, I'm just here for the fanservice in tanks and cute girls, not really invested in romance. So I guess if y'all really want to invest in another girl, you should do so in the story when you see an opportunity and when it makes sense to, just like we got with Yuzu. That way you're investing just as much into her instead of having a fairweather romance placed in your lap.

“Duck team mount up!” You’ve made your choice, Duck team would act as a spotter for you and you’d obliterate whatever they picked with your long eighty-eight. Waffle seems nervous, and you can understand why. Against your Panther, they stand little chance, especially since the Panther was literally built to kill Shermans. Nevertheless, they commit and the crews for the two Shermans mount their tank. An odd choice you think, not to take advantage of the spotting ability the AMC would give them but it’s all the same to you.

You and Duck team roll out to the starting point and ready up.

“Boss, we’ve got the green light.” Your radio operator Max chimes in.

Werewolf
> Use the Left most road, you’d have a clear shot down the road and several vantage points. (Purple)
> Go through the town. Your gun size wont be a problem if you stick to the road (Pink)
> Go around the town but straight through the middle, You’re protected from the elevated ground on the left and they won’t be able to get to the eastern vantage points fast enough (Light Blue)
> Go round the eastern edge of the field, good vantage points and cover from the rest of the field (Yellow)

“Werewolf! We’re heading up into the mountains to have a look into the valley!” Duck team’s commander shouts into the mic. You check your map; the best position was the F2 overwatch and Duck seemed to know that too from the way they manoeuvred up the slope towards it. Their I-Go screams forward, somehow working its way up a slope it has no right going up, Werewolf rumbles in response as you urge him to follow Duck team.

“Fritz! I see them! In the town!” You haven’t crested the slope, but Duck team is already there spotting for you. “They’ve seen us! They’re making a break for it!” You crest the ridge and watch as one of the Shermans motors south down the road. “Duck team! We need that flanker in our sights!” You bark into the Radio.

“You got it! Volleyball Team get moving!” The I-Go spins on its tracks and heads south towards the overwatch point to the south.

You turn your attention back to your quarry in the town. “Ruby! Eleven O’clock! Two hundred meters behind that building!” You emphasis it with a burst from the MG mounted on your pintle. Ruby immediately takes control of the turret, fine-tuning her shot.

“Firing now.” Your gunner is calm as she pulls the trigger, Werewolf is not. His gun roars as the shell leaves his main gun. The round tears through the air, it demolishes the building, leaving a cloud of debris blocking your view. You don’t have time to confirm the kill before you turn your MG towards the other Sherman and let loose. The sound is like a Buzzsaw and even from two hundred meters away you can hear the Thump Thump Thump of the thirteen-millimetre rounds bouncing off the Sherman.

The Sherman fires. Its round goes high, blasting into the mountain next to Duck team, showering them in rubble but otherwise no worse for wear. Evidently your MG fire spooked them into shooting early.

You turn back to the town to observe the Sherman you shot at earlier and see a nice hole in the side of the tank and a white flag on top.

“Scratch one Ruby, Max…

“Scratch one Ruby, Max! Take us to Duck team.” You order. Werewolf immediately begins to reverse from the cliffside vantage point.

“You got it, Fritz.” Comes the accented voice of your driver. You rumble over to Duck team just in time to see them swerve out of the way of a one-o-five millimetre shell, which obliterates their previous position.

“Pull back Duck team, allow us to handle it from here.” You rumble over the radio as Werewolf pulls to a stop. “Ruby! Two hundred and fifty meters! Twelve O’clock!” The Sherman is moving for cover, juking and weaving as it approaches the cliff that marked your starting point.

“Firing.” As if it’s another day in the park your gunner fires. The round flies through the air, and slams into the back of the Sherman that had been fleeing for cover.

“Kill confirmed.” You say to your gunner who’s celebrating in the turret, you’re about to switch to team comms when the judges begin their broadcast.

“All tanks cease firing. Ōoarai academy wins!” The voice of the judges echoes over both the radio and the loudspeakers in the area. A job well done; you allow yourself to relax.

>Go back to the beginning rally point, it’ll give you a chance to talk to the opposing team.

“Take us back to the rally point Max, let’s say hello to the competition.” You say to your driver, he begins moving but not without complaint.

“I don’t see why you bother Fritz; we’ve beaten them and that’s that!” He moans, your gunner is quick to reprimand him.

“Max! It’s the polite thing to do! Checking they’re ok after the can of ass whoop, we opened on them is the least we could do.” You blink. Seems Ruby is excited about becoming an Ace in Japan.

As your tank pulls up to the starting area you jump down and approach the girl who seems to be in charge of the Waffle girls.

“Come to gloat at the defeat of the great Commander Mayaka?” She sneers at you in an almost French accent. You blink and hold out your hand.

“That was a good match, Duck team are slippery.” You slip into German on a hunch. “I just wanted to pick your brains, find out why great commanders choose to do what they do. She regards you for a second, before placing the tip of her cane in your hand.

“It would have been better if we had won.” She counters, in German. “You are quite famous you know? We knew you like the high positions so tried to rush through the town to get behind you. Unfortunately, that damned light tank spotted us!” You decide not to point out the I-Go is technically a medium tank.

“Well, you are participating in the tournament no? Perhaps we will meet there.” You offer. Her reply is short.

“And if we do you shall lose.” You can’t help but laugh at the blunt response as she disengages from the conversation. What fun.

With that, you head for home.

> Do some… less standard training (XP Bonus depends on how creative you get) Driving, turning, driving backwards, set up a course hairpin turns, shooting while moving in reverse, our driver can help

What saved Duck team (twice) in the last match was their ability to manoeuvre their tank beyond what one would reasonably expect them to be able to do. You, therefore, decide that the best way to train Ōoarai that morning is to set up a slalom course in the forested area. It has mixed results.

Anglerfish team do well, as they do in everything you muse, and their driver Mako is able to drift around a hairpin corner and set Hana up perfectly for a shot onto the target while moving.

Turtle team does less well. Yuzu, while no Mako is able to deftly navigate the course, keeping herself and her tank from sliding off where other less experienced tankers might have. Momo, on the other hand, does less well. Despite her recent improvements, hitting targets while moving still seems beyond her and the target escapes unscathed.
Duck team is quite frankly a force of nature on the course. Their I-Go might be shit but its crew is Iron, Shinobu being able to easily make her way around the course. Amusingly, you see Noriko unbuttoned leaning left and right in order to help her tank drift.

The StuG does alright, it’s not a tank designed to corner fast, but the history girls make it work. They do far better than most others do on the shooting while moving through. As expected of Ōoarai’s second-highest scoring team.

The Freshmen unfortunately fail. While Azusa is a skilled commander, sometimes she forgets her tank is tall. Very tall. So tall in fact it’s centre of gravity is very high. Their tank tips. But they manage to hit the target from the ground which is an upside.

(Anteater is still out of commission)

>Failed Mobility rolls won't improve the enemy's accuracy dc next match
>+5 XP to all participating teams.

“Miho! I have a duel with a certain Nishizumi sister on Saturday! Any advice?” You call as you enter the Tankery warehouse.

“Forfeit the match.” She deadpans before collapsing on the ratty sofa that inhabited the warehouse. “You’ve already planned it out pretty well.” She murmurs. “But Maho is going to have studied your previous duels, your best bet is to do something you normally wouldn’t do.” You nod as Miho talks.

“Know anything about the tank she’ll be driving?” You ask.

“Well she usually drives a Tiger tank, but the Panther is her favourite tank and given she’s against Werewolf, she might use her personal Panther.” Miho’s thinking aloud, but shrugs. “She might even borrow Erika’s King Tiger; it depends on what she thinks is best to counter you.”

After thanking Miho for the information, you take your leave to visit Takumi again. The man smiles as you enter.

“Hoe-lee Shit! Those two kills last match! That double for the StuG using my upgrade package! Kid you gotta let me sponsor Ōoarai exclusively. My sales are already off the chart, but don’t worry I’ll save the best stuff for you.

>High power radio – Immune to any form of espionage/wiretapping, can roll a contested 1d20 to disrupt enemy comms

“Fine choice kid, communication is what makes and breaks a team.” Takumi scribbles something down on a notepad before ripping the page off and slamming it on the counter. “You’ll have your radio tomorrow kid, and remember the more you win, the more I win, the more you win. Got it?”

“Yes?” You offer. That’s good enough for him.

“Good stuff!” He slaps you on the back, shoving you forward. You take that as your cue to leave, before your back is bruised further.

Friday 3rd May (Day 26)

Usually, a Friday would bring a sense of optimism with it, the end of the week and a chance to be free. Unfortunately, given the duel tomorrow, with likely the best high school tanker in Japan, you don’t really feel it.

>Train by yourself + can work on a new skill (concealment and observation)

“Leo! Like your new toy?” Your new radio had just been installed and your radio operator was giggling like a schoolgirl.

“You bet I am Fritz, watch this.” He fiddles with the nob for a second and you hear a scream from the Panzer IV.

“Stop messing with the radio!” Saori jumps out her hatch and stalks towards Werewolf. “Fritz! Get your radioman out here so I can kill him.”

“Commander’s hatch is open, have fun.” You leave it at that as Saori storms off to confront Leo.

You turn away from the soon-to-happen homicide and back to a field manual on camouflage. It’s a reproduction obviously, but the information is still useful.

“Max! Axel!” You shout. “Grab some paint, let’s get to work!”

It turns out alright, your experiment with paint produced a not-horrible camouflage pattern. You test it by taking Werewolf out onto the field and asking the rest of the Ōoarai tanks to try find you before you found them, and for the most part you succeeded.

But it’s missing something. Unable to figure out what, you turn back to the warehouse. As you arrive you scan the other occupants and spy Hana arranging some weeds? You have a lightbulb moment.

“Hana! Is it possible to use flower arrangement to make tanks less visible?” She ponders it for a moment, slowly nodding.

“Yes, it would be Fritz. Shall we test it out?”

>Gained Skill Camouflage – The practice before a match, you can choose a camouflage pattern to apply, giving you a -2 to awareness or auto-success if you didn’t move last turn.

>Hangout with Yukari

At lunch, you decide to seek out your resident tank otaku. You find her with Anglerfish team in the cafeteria.

“Afternoon Ladies.” You say in reply to the greetings from the girls. “Yukari, I was wondering if I could pick your brains about the duel tomorrow. Miho said that she’d probably be in a Tiger or a Panther. Can you help me with that?” She nods her head.

“I was just talking to Miss Nishizumi about your duel! I personally think she’ll be using a Panther! You could try to aim for the radio operator’s Machine Gun on the hull, and the same would apply to a Tiger.” Her face drops slightly. “If you go against a King Tiger I’d suggest trying to flank it rather than looking for weak spots.”

“You’re a lifesaver Yukari.” You say gratefully as you take a seat next to them for lunch

Good stuff, Next update will be a little delayed.

Attached is the map I'll be using. You'll start on the east side.

Feel free to strategise, any correct predictions about Maho's actions will help your chances.
>>
>>4260258
Maho will not go to the town. Because in our last matches we avoided the towns.
So she'll not expect it.

First match: We drove off-road to get to a high position.
Second match: We drove on the road to high position.

She may think we'll be going to C6 to have the most view distance. So she could head south and go to E5 to snipe us as we make our way to C6. That or go through town and flank us in the ass as we *look* from C6. Or She'll go up and speed to C7 to cut us off from getting the high position.

I would draw on the map routes, but my internet is not working.
>>
>>4260258
Well, since we're starting right by the town we can cut through it.
Because if Maho goes south to reach E5 she'll be either in the canyon or next to the lake when we emerge from the houses into the crossing in G6.

That'd be a meeting at knife-fighting range and we would need to make our round of surprise frenzy shots count.

If instead she goes north to overlook the northern planes we can then go past her starting position to try and sneak up on her.

Going straight north will cost us too much time, I think. Letting Maho set up at whatever point she wants.
An alternative is to go along the road north of the town and make use of our camo this way.
We can go past the lake in F5 and use the mountains to the west as cover.
>>
>>4260286

If I were Maho, I'd hunker down at H3/J3 and wait for us to get impatient and come looking for us. I'd avoid Map rows A-C completely as those provide the lease cover and most easily watched avenues of approach.

F4 is another possibility as it offers limited approaches, but limited sight lines. Good for an ambush.

If we play the waiting game and force her to come looking for us, I'd hunger down at H9 or A9.
>>
>>4260258
I think she would expect us to go for high ground using 0 line, and she'll likely set up to ambush us, setting up somewhere on the C line.

I think it'd be better to cut through town and shut the tank down somewhere on the West side of town and listen for her tank. We'll probably hear her coming if she's in the North. If we do hear her, it means we can flank North using the Southern road of town unseen.
>>
>>4260258
I think we should cut through town head reach G6. On the grass and listen to her tank. We get our bonus and hear if she's to the west or north.

Maho don't stop or slow down since it goes against Blitzkrieg.
>>
>>4260258
Back and Writing.

Some of you got pretty close, that'll definitely improve your odds

> Apply a camo pattern (Urban, Grassy, Mountains)
Grassy

You decide to put your newly learned camouflage skills to use. After examining the map, you decided on a grassy camouflage to help hide Werewolf on the plains on the field you’re going to be facing Maho on. It took longer than expected given it was your first paintjob, but between the five of you, with Hana chipping in her decorating expertise you manage to do a decent job of it.

> Meet up with someone/ a group

As the others filter out after practice, you and your crew stay behind to brainstorm the map. Miho and Yukari given their stakes in the match also choose to stay and help you plan out your battle. Between the seven of you, with Miho chipping in what she knows of Maho and Yukari of Black forest you eventually end up with two possible routes Maho will take. By your reckoning, she’ll either head south from her starting point and use the roads to advance on you quickly as per the Nishizumi style or, she’ll set up in the E6 vantage point, where she has a commanding view of all your vantage points. With that sorted, you break for the night to rest for the big day.

Saturday 4th May (Day 27)

You feel calm as you rumble towards the battlefield, you’d had Werewolf removed from the tank transporter early, to give you a chance to warm up his engine. Werewolf obliges, deftly manoeuvring through the mountainous terrain. As you arrive at the field, you’re greeted by a surprising sight. Possibly a hundred Black Forest Peak students are present, in addition to the judges and a television team, far more than had been present at any of your other duels. Your entourage consists of only the Sensha-dō team but it seems over half of Black Forest is out in force to watch this duel.

You decide to try to find Maho in order to find out why there is such a fuss, dismounting Werewolf, you make your way towards the central rally point where the judges and non-combatants would be watching. It’s there you spot Maho.

“Maho! A lot more people than I expected!” You call as you make your way towards her. “What’s the deal?” She hesitates but turns towards you. She seems ashamed?

“Fritz.” She bows her head. “I did not inte-“

“So, you got tired of stomping seals in Europe and decided to come to Japan? Awfully bold of you to challenge the best Commander Hermann.” A strong, stern, but familiar voice calls out from behind you.

> ”I am the best, I just need to prove it once more.” Instructor Nishizumi respects strength and victory, you’ll show nothing but.

I'm personally not surprised, this is basically Nishizumi we're dealing with. All things considered Maho probably wanted a more down to earth duel, and the mother caught wind of it one way or another and decided to bring the metaphorical three ring circus in as both a test of strength AND a power play on us to throw us off our game.

When the duel starts, make Maho's defeat as efficient as possible. For her sake than anything.
>>
Before I go to bed I'd like to suggest using the well known phrase:
"Wer Hat Angst vorm bösen Wolf?"
Should we get the drop on Maho.

Almost everyone in the audience knows German for maximum effect, too.

Good luck, anons.

She smirks as you say that, clearly amused.

“I’m glad to see living in Japan has not cowed you, Commander Hermann, but on to business.” Her smirk drops, back to the grim demeanour she usually has. “I’ll cut to the chase Hermann. You’ve seen fit to challenge the heiress to the Nishizumi style and that is a challenge to me and by extension Black Forest Peak Academy.” She turns to gesture to the crowd. “Hence the audience.” She turns back to you. “I’ll be blunt with you Commander, you’re far too good to be fighting for a school with Ōoarai.”

You make to protest, but she cuts you off.

“I care not for your reasoning Hermann; all I know is that at the end of this year Ōoarai will close its gates and you will be out of a job. I, therefore, extend an olive branch to you. If you lose this match, you will fight for Black Forest in a match of our choice and when Ōoarai closes you will transfer to Black Forest.” She’s deadly serious, you can barely reply.

“And if I win?” You manage to whisper. She snorts.

“Then you will be the owner of an ex-Black Forest tank.” She crosses her arms and looks down on you or tries to which is hard given the height difference. “Well?”

>Go through the town

“Max. South through the town.” Your voice is calm, nothing like the usual barked orders you would give. Fitting, given you, were doing something you’d never done before. Urban combat was not your forte and that would be why the Nishizumis wouldn’t expect it.

Werewolf seems to pick up on your calm, or perhaps Max knew to keep it quiet. Either way, you rumble through the town until you find a suitable spot.

“Behind this building Max. Idle the engine.” Werewolf’s engine drops from a roar to a whine and you listen.

>Awareness Rolled 1

I mean, even if she is using a big brained move and predicting that we would predict her, the plan is solid and we wouldn't gain much from deviating now.
>>
>>4260793
>She’s probably headed for the Vantage point. Wait for her to start heading north then ambush her.
She isn't big brain
>>
>>4260793
OK then, give me

>4d20 Bo3

Use Frenzy?
>Yes
>No

(If you use it and nothing happens, you won't be able to use it next turn but you can still fire normally)

Reroll time. But at least we got if you guys just roll under 20
>8, 6, 14, 5
>>
>>4260826
Ouch, two twenties

For the Mobility fail you can use Enhanced Engine to negate it and for Penetration, you can use a reroll if you want.

So
Mobility
>Reroll
>Enhanced Engine
>No

Penetration
>Reroll
>No
>>
>>4260826
>Apologize to Ruby for stealing the pineapple, it was for our GF but that's no excuse!
>>
Rolled 20, 2, 16, 10 = 48 (4d20)

>>4260826
>Yes
>>
>>4260849
You also fail accuracy, Would you like to use Long 88 or a reroll?
>>
Rolled 9, 15, 8, 7, 18, 2, 11, 19, 3, 4, 7, 5, 19, 10, 6, 5, 15, 12, 5, 19 = 199 (20d20)

I'm just gonna get all these outta the way...

>>
>>4260860
QM if we're firing on Maho let's also use the MG 131 and if it's short range our bonus takes to affect. Also don't forget our +1 DC for planning
>>
>>4260870
Is this an Alpha Strike or a Pepper Pot Barrage?

Werewolf

8, 20, 14, 20

Maho

3, 20, 1, 9

Awareness
8 (You) vs 3 (Maho) – Maho goes first

Werewolf
Mobility 20 – Enhanced engine = success
Accuracy 14 = long 88 - success
Penetration 2 dc 10 + 9x1.5 – 7 + 1 = 18 = success

Accuracy 2 dc 5 + 2 + 3 + 1 = 11 = success
Penetration 1 dc 10 + 9x1.5 – 7 +1 = 18 = crit success

Accuracy 7 dc 5 + 2 + 3 + 1 = 11 = success
Penetration 7 dc 10 + 9x1.5 – 7 + 1 = 18 = success

Maho
Mobility 20 = Crit failure
Accuracy 1 = Crit Success (+2 Next Accuracy DC)
Penetration 9 = 10 + 9x1.5 – 7 = 16 = success

Fuck you guys, you were meant to lose but Maho crit failed mobility which meant she couldn't get her front facing you

Writing now.

You see, boys and girls, during the Panther mating ritual, the boy panther has to sneak up on the girl panther, and pounce on her. The girl panther will be so impressed with the boy panther that she will submit automatically once surprised.

The dice gods rolled in our favor. I'm glad that we won as hard that Black Forest will seem like a fucking joke. Even in the match against St. Gloria we took a hit. She didn't do shit
