First real fights! St. Gloriana and Maginot!

11 April (Day 5)

You are Fritz Hermann, ace tanker and commander of the Panther II Werewolf. Currently you are considering homicide. You are getting ready for morning Sensha-Dō practice and have come across perhaps the most unholy garish looking tanks you’ve ever seen. Sans that one French team…

Off to your right you can hear Yukari vocalising similarly to how you feel, head clutched and, on her knees, lamenting. You can’t help but agree with her.

Your crew shares Miho’s feelings and are rolling around on the ground laughing.

How do you address this?
>Tell Anzu the colours need to change now.
>We have a match soon; they’ll learn bright colours are stupid there.
>Complement the History Club on the German but suggest they remove the flags.

Explanation of Wolfpacks, part of the training for upcoming matches

Wolfpacks: A wolfpack is a special kind of cooperation between Werewolf and another tank for the duration of the match which comes with special buffs and debuffs.

Hunter-Killer: Werewolf has a faster tank scout for him. This tank cannot fire but any targets it spots for Werewolf are accuracy auto successes.

Paladin-Ranger: Werewolf works with a tank to take out targets at long range. Werewolf takes any hits for the other tank and in exchange the other tank gets an accuracy bonus

Guard Dog: Werewolf guards the flag tank. As long as Werewolf is within close range of the flag tank he gains 2HP of ‘armour’ (used before his 2HP) and 1 Penetration save but any shots directed at the flag tank hit him.

These can be used with any trained or higher crew.

Honestly I think it's best to let them have their fun for now. This defeat in Gloria made them take the game more seriously. If we win this too hard they might not learn anything.

>Complement the History Club on the German but suggest they remove the flags

“Shed Sweat, Not Blood.” You say, reading the German on the back of the tank. “Although don’t you think the flags are a bit much? The StuG works so well because of its low profile, and the flags are very… high profile.”

“I wanted it styled after the Afrika Korps!” Erwin replies before turning around to the others. “See! Even Mackensen says it’s too much! And he’s an expert on tanks!”

“Aww but we put so much work into the flags!” The bespectacled driver, you think her name is Oryou, says. “And now we have to take them off!”

“Or maybe not,” Caesar, the one with the scarf, says, a glint in her eye. “Ladies, huddle!” She turns back to you for a second. “Thank you for your input Mackensen.” Before returning to the furiously whispering History Club.

Before you can say anything in response, Momo arrives to talk to you. “Hermann,” she starts with a small smile. “In preparation for our match on Sunday, the rest of the Sensha-Dō club is going to be doing target practice and manoeuvring training. We were wondering what you and your crew were planning to do.

A good question, you open your mouth to respond:

“I’m planning to use my crew as instructors.” You tell her, already running through the plans in your head. “Yeah we’ll start with manoeuvring, don’t think we’ll be able to do any fancy formations but at the very least they’ll know forward from reverse.” You remark, thinking to how two tanks have gone through the warehouse walls already.

“We’ll also get started on gunnery, we can drive to the range and I’ll send Ruby round to each tank to give them some tips.” You say, stroking your chin. You can feel some stubble Perhaps it’s time to get a haircut? You ask yourself.

.

.

.

Training goes better than you expected. Under your tutelage the tankers of Ōoarai manage to go from novices to only slightly incompetent apart from Miho, who you’re pretty sure is already on your level. While they’re unable to form a straight line, their driving is definitely better than when you started.

Gunnery is a similar story, despite the wide variety of guns in use your gunner, Ruby is able to help every gunner improve. Apart from Momo. In particular, she points out Hippo team and how they’re able to shoot really well given enough time.

The day ends with a debrief from the Student Council.

“Good work during practice today,” Momo starts. “I know this is a little sudden but this Sunday we’re having a practice match against St. Gloriana’s women’s academy.” Yukari and Miho visibly react to that but before you can say anything Anzu chimes in.

“Could all tank commanders meet in my office for a briefing! Everyone else – see you on Sunday at six!” At the word six, Anglerfish’s driver walks off.

You decide to
>Chase after the driver. Team A is the second strongest team!
>Go to the briefing. Team A is already going after her, and we don’t know her that well.

You see Saori and the rest of team A run after their driver. You consider going after them for a moment but decide against it given you don’t know the driver that well. Plus, it seems like Miho and the others have got it handled.

The President’s office is quite spacious, with some sofas arranged in a U-shape around a whiteboard in the corner where some of the other tank commanders are already sitting. You take a seat next to Yuzu who gives you a small smile before turning back to Momo’s briefing. Curiously, despite being the commander of her tank Erwin is nowhere to be seen, Caesar in her place.

“Listen Up!” Momo seems to be the one giving the briefing, something odd given her lack of Tankery experience. “St. Gloriana’s Women’s academy is good at deep penetrating tactical strikes, using their tough armour and teamwork. In order to be effective, we need to be close. Otherwise, we’ll do nothing to them.” Werewolf doesn’t need to be… you muse.

“We’ll use one of our tanks as a decoy, pull them into our kill zone and crush them!” Momo says, rising to a crescendo.

“Hey Nishizumi, what’s wrong?” You hear from Anzu. You look back and see Miho looks troubled.

“N-nothing.” She stutters out.

Hippo at least. Their entire skill's taking turns doing nothing to aim so if we have them in a secondary position to fallback too by the time we'd need to actually retreat they'd have set up Deadeye.

Not to mention St. Gloriana's tanks are heavily armored but relatively slow so even with GuP physics I think a layered defence has some merit. Although some might argue against splitting the forces, I think it'd be alright. The extra space for cover and manuevering might even be beneficial.
>>
It might also be important to set us all up to fail. A failure you can walk away from is the best teacher.

“You’re probably the best tanker in the room.” You say matter-of-factly. “If you’ve got something to share then let’s hear it”. She blushes at your compliment before her eyes harden.

“St. Gloriana is going to anticipate that we’ll try to bait them and so they’ll just encircle us and take us out.” She says.

Momo is not amused. “Don’t criticise my plan if you can’t think of anything better!” She begins, winding up for a rant.

You cut her off. “But we can, thanks to Miho’s analysis.” Pushing past Momo you move to the whiteboard and wipe the board.

“If we know they’re going to anticipate the kill zone and encircle us, why not use it?” You look around the room and see you’ve lost them all apart from Miho, realisation dawning on her face. “If we set up a secondary position on the ridge opposite, we can have our more accurate tanks in position to take them out from behind.”

Caesar’s face lights up. “The flags!” She says, grinning maliciously. “We can set up the flags on the primary ambush point, so they think nothing’s amiss. Then we can tear into them from behind!”

In response you say
> ”Great Idea, we’ll set up the StuG for a crossfire”
> ”Great Idea, Werewolf will join you.”
> “Actually, join the bait, Werewolf will be able to handle it.”

With that handled, Anzu turns to you and Miho and begins clapping.

“Nicely done guys, say. Why don’t one of you be the commander?” You look to Miho

“Miho’s far better suited than I am.” You say. “But I know a thing or two so I’m happy to be your second Miho.”

“Ah, thank you all… I’ll make sure your trust in me isn’t misplaced!” She says, you can see a fire in her eyes, and you know you’ve made the right choice.”

“Congratulations on your new appointment,” Anzu says, smiling at Miho. “Work hard, get us a win! And if you do, I’ll get you an epic prize!”

Yuzu looks confused and starts to speak, “President, you never mentioned an-“

“Three days of dry potatoes!” Anzu looks far more excited about that than anyone has a right to be. “And if you lose,” her smile has gone predatory, “I’ll make you dance the Ankou dance.” You have no idea what that is but judging by the reaction of the other commanders it’s not something you want to know about.

You get home and pull out your laptop before shooting a message to Koume.

<AppleFritz> You there?

As usual, the reply is almost instant.

<Akaboss> Yup
<Akaboss> What’s up Fritz

<AppleFritz> We’re calling at Ōoarai tomorrow for our match against St. Gloriana
<AppleFritz> Thought you might want to know, given Miho will be there
<AppleFritz> And also I wanted to pick your brains for anything you know about St. Gloriana

Koume’s response takes longer than usual.

<Akaboss> Tomorrow’s perfect! I can be in Ōoarai and I can say thanks to Miho and it’ll be great! Please, Fritz, you gotta bring her to the city so I can say thanks. Regarding St. Gloriana, that’s a tricky one. They use a lot of heavy armour from what I remember – Mathildas and a Churchill or two

You’re about to respond, but it seems Koume has more to say.

<Akaboss> I also heard they got a couple of Crusaders, but I don’t know if they’re operational or not.

You thank Koume for the information and go to bed

You’re up early Saturday morning, it’s not every week you get a chance to go into town and you intend to make the most of it. You start by calling Miho. It rings twice before she picks up.

“Hello? Hermann is that you?” The girl on the other end asks.

“Yup.” You reply. You take a second to consider how to broach the topic before deciding to just be honest with her. “Koume is in Ōoarai and she wants to see you.”

Miho is silent. It’s a good three minutes before she says anything.

“I want to see her too.” She’s serious, perhaps the most serious she’s ever been. “I’ll be ready in an hour.” You don’t have time to reply as she hangs up, probably scrambling to get ready.

>Take Miho to see Koume and make sure everything goes smoothly

You are waiting outside Miho’s apartment on your bike when she comes down the stairs. She looks at your bike hesitantly for a second before her gaze turns to you and she gives you a small but honest smile. No words are exchanged as you load onto the ferry and ride into Ōoarai proper.

.

.

.

The meeting point is a small cake shop called Pastries und Panzers. You and Miho take a seat while waiting for Koume, idly perusing the menu.

“Nervous?” You ask Miho, who flinches at your question pretty much confirming it.

“Uh, a little bit.” She continues. “Last time I saw Koume she was half-drowned, and then straight after that I left Black Forest.” She says idly stirring the tea she ordered.

It’s then that Koume and another girl walk in. Maho Nishizumi.

You don’t know what to do about Maho, but you do know what to do about Koume.

You stand up. Koume looks at you and smiles.

“Fritz!” She exclaims, wrapping you in a hug. “So good to see you! It must have been years!” You return the hug and reply.

“Three actually, Big Cat day at Munster was the last time I saw you.” The display shocks the Nishizumis into action who’s greeting involves less hugging but no less warmth.

Once the pleasantries are over, Koume draws Miho to the side, and Maho turns to talk to you.

“Fritz Hermann,” she says, with a small, respectful nod of her head.

“Maho Nishizumi,” you say, returning the nod. “How is instructor Nishizumi?” You ask after her mother who had guest lectured at your Tankery academy in German.

“Well.” She replies, before asking her own question. “I would like to ask something of you…”

You nod your head and she continues.

“I heard you have brought Werewolf with you, the only working Panther II. I wish to see it if I may.”

>"I think it's only fair that if I show you mine you show me yours yes?"

Miho and Koume are staring at you. The Barista is staring at you. A nearby customer is staring at you. Maho is staring at you. You feel Saukraut begin to spill out your pants and-

Maho laughs? Not a snigger or a chuckle but a full-on genuine laugh. This continues for a solid thirty seconds before she composes herself and looks at you again, but this time with a far warmer expression.

“Yes Fritz,” you don’t miss the more informal form of address. ”I will show you-snrk mine.” The aloof façade Maho usually hides behind is gone, if only for a second. The happy and caring girl she really was coming to the front. She hands you a business card.

NISHIZUMI MAHO
COMMANDER KUROMUROMINE SENSHA-DŌ A-TEAM
TEL: XXX-XXXX-XXXXXX

“Please, give me a call when you are free. We can arrange something.” The façade is back up but you can still see traces of the smile in her eyes. She pulls a still shell-shocked Miho, who is lugging a massive boko behind her out of the shop.

Did Maho Nishizumi just ask you on a date?

> Meet one of the girls (Koume, it's rare for us to be able to spend time with her. Take her out window shopping, especially to a Tank Store. Just shoot the shit and get a feel for how she's been or how it's been going in Black Forest)

Koume has not said anything for fifteen minutes. Since your display in the cake shop Koume has been oddly non-verbal, especially for a talkative girl such as her. Sighing as your question goes ignored again you resort to more drastic measures.

“Ahhhhh!” Koume jumps away, clutching her arm. “You pinched me!”

“And you’ve been ignoring my questions.” You reply. “How’s Black Forest been for you? Ya’know since the accident?”

“It’s been good!” She smiles at you as you peruse a Sensha-Dō hobby shop. “All the girls have been really supportive, especially Maho!” She blushes a little when she says Maho’s name but continues. “Honestly the only bad part is Erika…” She says with a sigh.

Your sister? Your confusion must be showing as Koume gives a little laugh “Not your Erika, Black Peak Erika, she’s always calling Miho a disgrace for throwing last year’s match and worshipping the ground Maho walks on. It gets so annoying at times!” She crosses her arms and pouts, still the same after all these years… “But anyway how’s Ōoarai?” You smile and regale her with your story so far.

>Go watch a movie with the werewolf crew, we haven't been spending a lot of time with them. Maybe horror?

After saying goodbye to Koume with a promise to see each other at the festival tomorrow you head back to Ōoarai’s school ship to watch a movie with your crew. Apparently, Axel, the movie buff of your crew, decided on Aliens, a classic.

You smile as you approach the carrier ship. Tomorrow was your first real match. And you can’t wait.

April 13th (Day 7)

It is 5:30 AM and you are ready to rumble. You got up early this morning in order to check Werewolf’s condition before the match ahead and your steel sentinel is ready as ever. After a final check, you give the order to your driver.

“Max! Advance!” He doesn’t reply but Werewolf does, baying for blood as he moves towards the Ferry taking you to the mainland. Time to show some Brits who really invented armoured warfare.

.

.

.

You pass through the city, left deserted for the match. Crowds of people cheering you and the other Ōoarai tankers on as you head to the field where the match will begin (map in top right of picture). Your seven tanks are lined up, and the St. Gloriana tanks are approaching. Slowly given they’re Matildas and a Churchill but then you look behind them. Two Crusaders. It’s a good thing you asked Koume about St. Gloriana or those may have caught you on the backfoot.

Wrong movie. You didn't even have us react to it. Why was this even a choice given? Our team has no personality. You really needed to expand on this.
>>
>>4238749

Out of the Churchill comes a blonde girl, dressed in a red tankery uniform. You can tell just by looking at her that she’s the commander of St. Gloriana’s Sensha-Dō team.

“Commander, we thank you for accepting our sudden invitation for a match this morning.” Begins Momo.

“We don’t mind at all.” The girl smiles back at Momo. “Those are some interesting tanks you got there,” she looks at you, “and interesting tankers.”

Before anything else can be said, the refs interrupt and call for a bow and the beginning of the match. As you mount Werewolf you can’t help but feel pumped. The hunt is on.

You are at the starting point, north of your position through the valley is St. Gloriana’s starting point. Your plan is for one member of your team to act as bait and draw them into a kill zone where the team will bait St. Gloriana into an encirclement so the StuG can get flanking shots

>Who will be the bait?

Where will you be?
> At the first kill zone to entice St. Gloriana in
> At the second position with the StuG

At the first position you would be shooting at the front of the enemy, but your presence might make Gloriana overcommit. If you go to the second there’s nothing you wouldn’t be able to kill but they may be cautious if they don’t see you with the others.

Highest Roll 1 (Matilda Commander) vs 1 (Miho) – Miho wins

“All units, I have successfully engaged St. Gloriana and they are in pursuit! Leading them towards the kill zone now!” Miho shouts over the radio. You immediately get to work.

“Ladies! Get moving! Set up the StuG’s flags! And get into your tank!” You shout the orders and the girls jump to work, scrambling into their tanks as you see Miho approaching, St. Gloriana hot on her tail.

There are four Matildas and one Churchill following Miho down the road. You notice the two crusaders are missing.

Your orders

The first Killzone

>Wait for them to attempt an encirclement

“Fire!” You were never one to mince words, and your gunner never one to waste shells.

Somehow, the Gamer Club in the Chi-Nu beats you to the punch, a shot from their 75-millimetre gun somehow punching through the tough armour on the front of Darjeeling’s Churchill. That wouldn’t have mattered if not for werewolf. Your gunner wasted no time in pulling the trigger after you gave the order, the second shot of the encounter roaring through the air, barely slowed by the Churchill’s turret plate only to detonate on the safety layer. The white flag goes up, but not before Darjeeling can send a riposte right back at you. It does nothing. It bounces off Werewolf’s front plate harmlessly and you could swear that the engine misfires in a way that sounds like a laugh. You shake your head and look at the rest of the battlefield.

Miho is still being chased as she zips up one of the flanking ramps towards your position. A Matilda fires, trying to swat Miho’s Panzer IV, the shot just barely failing to connect, hitting the canyon wall to the left of Miho’s tank.

“Ahhh! That was way to close!” You hear Saori cry over the radio, but before you can scold her for improper use of the radio, her gunner takes a shot.

Hana’s aim is true. The 75-millimetre howitzer hitting slap bang on the side of the turret, setting up the M3 Lee’s far longer 75-millimetre gun for the kill.

“We got one! Ohmygod We got one!” The freshmen are just as excitable as Saori and their elation at getting a kill makes them an easy target for two of the remaining Matildas who successively nail the M3.

“Ah fuck!” You hear your radioman Leo swear. Before you can ask he elaborates. “The Freshmen are screaming like a horror movie! Their tank hasn’t even been knocked out!” That, unfortunately, doesn’t stop them fleeing like bats out of hell.

You take stock of the situation, your ambush has knocked out two of the enemy’s heaviest tanks, in exchange for losing one tank (and not even to enemy fire). The StuG is still concealed, and yet to fire. You don’t know where the crusaders are but they should be close by now.

You decide to
>Go hunt the crusaders, without you Ooarai still has the Matildas outnumbered and you don’t want any nasty surprises
>Push the Matildas, take them out now so you can all turn and face the crusaders
>Hold position, this position worked already? Why not once more.

Going to move to a more standard dice system, for now, will have to figure something out for Maginot.

Pz. IV - Continue running
Chi-Nu - Continue firing

1 - Crit Success
2 - 5 - High Success
6 - 13 Regular Success
14 - 19 Failure
20 - Critical failure

QM rolls and decides on actions for enemy tanks

If Werewolf is alone normal combat rules apply

“Leo, tell Nishizumi we’re going hunting.” Miho had done her job and was back so she could take command again as far as you were concerned. Those Crusaders had been left to their own devices far too long and threatened your flank if nothing was done about them.

You don’t wait for a reply, rolling down the ridge and to the left. Your tank’s off-road capabilities making short work of the incline.

As your leaving, you turn and catch sight of the slugfest going on behind you. You see a brown-haired girl in the commander’s hatch of one of the Matildas, shouting orders to her two remaining allies. They fire. The two pounders whine, spitting lead towards your allies.

All their shots strike home. Unfortunately, their target selection wasn’t the best – the Volleyball club’s I-Go tips over – the white flag bursting from the side of their tank. The brown-haired girl’s shot is slightly better thought out, hitting Miho’s Panzer IV in the side. You can only put it down to luck that Mako was able to keep the tank under control.

“Erwin, now!” You hear Miho shout into the radio. The StuG barks twice. Saemonza’s aim is true. One Matilda sputters anti-climactically to a stop, the white flag popping out the top. The brown-haired girl’s one is far more dramatic – the rear fuel tank exploding as the tank grinds to a halt. With only one enemy left, you’re sure they can hold out.

Cont.
>>
>>4239680

You were right. Rapidly closing parallel to the river, two crusaders blasting towards your position. If you hadn’t moved to intercept them, they would’ve been able to jump the StuG, ending your ambush.

You aren't worried. Two to one against some piddly Crusaders are odds you'd take any day of the week. With a grim smile, you activate your throat-mic.

“Ruby, contact two O’clock by the river…”

>Max, roll us backwards! We don’t want them getting a flanking shot (Go from long range to normal range)
> That tank looks like it'll be able to shoot first. We don't want it to have another go (Rosehip)

“Max, roll us backwards! We don’t want them getting a flanking shot!” you shout into the mic, similar scenarios and war games from your past run through your head, and they all lead to the same conclusion. Keep the bastards to your front.

“Aye, Full reverse!” Your driver confirms before swearing in Irish. Werewolf groans as he shifts to moving backwards. Tracks sliding for a second before they dig into the ground beneath you.

One of the Crusaders is very fast. A bright mop of pink hair rises out of the hatch and makes eye contact with you smirking as she blazes forward. Your turret tracks her but she moves faster. Launching a shot straight at your flank.

Her smile drops. You hear your tracks eating the shot, some of your road wheels coming off with a groan, track loosening. You let out a sigh. It’ll be a pain to fix but you’re not immobilised so you can fight. Which the pink-haired girl promptly finds out when Werewolf’s long eighty-eight SLAMS into the side of her tank, which spins itself out of control, a white flag popping out the top.

Plink You turn your attention back to the front where the other Crusader just fired a shot which bounced pitifully off your front plate.

You pick up your throat mic and talk, “Ruby! Traverse to twelve O’clock! Ready to fire at the other crusader!”

“You got it, boss!” Your gunner replies. You can hear the smirk in her voice. First a Churchill and now two Crusaders? Field day.

The commander of the Crusader looks at you like a deer caught in a car’s headlights. Her gaze shifts to Werewolf’s gun before shifting back to you and she slowly raises her hands. No doubt she heard about your ambush against the rest of St. Gloriana.

I suppose I want a sort of retreading (heheh) of the Maginot Battle where the Ooarai team realizes they can't just rely on Miho or her plans, they have to actually tank for themselves to achieve victory.

Kinda like that bit in Ravages of Time where Cao Cao's forces go up against Lu Bu's, and Lu Bu is kicking Cao Cao's army's ass because's a demon of war. So Cao Cao fakes his own death while his armies are out fighting Lu Bu's across a province, "his final order" telling them to fight and win. So then each of his officers becomes a Lu Bu in their own right by using their own judgment and talents, and eventually corner the invincible Lu Bu who has to retreat when Cao Cao's officers defeat him and crush his army's morale.

>St. Gloriana fights honourably and so do we. Let them dismount.

“Ruby hold your fire. They’ve stood down.” She is not pleased.

“What! C’mon Fritz just once! They won’t feel any- much!” You ignore her whining and look to the Crusader commander and give her a small wave. Taking that as her que, she gives you as much of a bow as possible before dismounting. Her crew following after her, scrambling out of the tank.

“Patching you into Ōoarai comms.” Leo rumbles before you hear Saori in your ear.

“Fritz we did it! We won!” The redhead crackles over the radio. “The last Mathilda got us good, took out the Council and the Chi-Nu but Hana’s one hell of a shot!” You chuckle, her enthusiasm infectious.

“Thank you for telling me Saori,” you smile back, before turning to your crew. “Well done everyone, lets head back.”

.

.

.

You return to cheers. The people of Ōoarai are ecstatic. The first Sensha-Dō match in Ōoarai? Won by their girls (and four boys)? Your crew can’t hold back their smiles as you follow Miho and the History club, the only other operational Ōoarai tanks towards the docks.

As you arrive, you see the blonde commander from before talking to Miho and Anglerfish team. You make your way over and the St. Gloriana girls turn.

“And this is the one who planned the assault gun ambush?” She asks Miho. A genial smile on her face.

“Uh, yes. Fritz Hermann. He’s vice-commander and the Panther II is his tank.” Miho replies.

“Interesting,” she looks you in the eyes and speaks. “I’m Darjeeling, commander of St. Gloriana’s Sensha-Dō club. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” She holds out her hand.

“Likewise,” you reply, returning the handshake. She continues.

“So, with a tank like that, you must be planning to compete in the duelling league correct?” At your nod she continues, her smile growing. “We’ve recently acquired a new tank for use in the duelling league. We deemed it unnecessary here but as you can see, we were mistaken.” She looks slightly embarrassed at that. You would be too if you threw a match by leaving a tank behind.

“Anyways, I was wondering if you would be interested in a practice duel? It would be valuable training for you as well I’m sure.” You pause for a second then reply:

> “Sure, work the details out with Anzu.” Knowing Anzu she’ll probably be able to get the most out of it
>What kind of tank are we talking here? You don’t want to go into this blind
>No thank you. You don’t feel the need to practice for the duels

> “Sure, work the details out with Anzu.” Knowing Anzu she’ll probably be able to get the most out of it

“Sure, work the details out with Anzu.” From what you can remember Ōoarai is pretty short on tanks, cash and just about anything useful, so your pretty sure Anzu would thank you for a chance to wring out Gloriana for all they’re worth.

“Excellent,” Darjeeling smiles, excitement visible behind that disarming smile. I look forward to it. She turns to leave. “Come along Assam, Pekoe. We must depart.”

You look to the girls then yourself. Every one of you smelling of oil and gunpowder.

“Back to the academy?” You ask with a tired smile. The girls nod their agreement and you turn back to towards the ship.

It’s a barely afternoon when you exit the shower, your match having taken far less time than expected. You have the whole day ahead of you.

You decide to:

Afternoon:
>Hang out with Team A at the shops
>Find out from Anzu what’s happening
>Ask a girl if they want to do something? (who)
>Ask Maho what she thought of your fight
>Write-in

>Find out from Anzu what’s happening
You decide it may be best to figure out what exactly Darjeeling is going to have you fight. You reckon that she’ll probably be in her office.

Your hunch is proven right. After a quick knock, you enter the room and Anzu turns to you. A very satisfied smile on her face.

“Fritz! Man of the hour!” She’s happy. “First you pull through against Gloriana and then you drop that golden egg on my lap! You’re worth every penny I tell you!”

“Slow down Anzu,” you say, struggling to keep up with the flow of Japanese coming from the small student council president. “I need to know the details of the duel, when is it and what I’m facing. All that stuff.”

“Hmm? Ah yes. It’ll take place on Thursday, I thought it would be best to hold it here so the rest of the Sensha-Dō club can watch and learn.”

“And anything about the kind of tank I’m facing?” You ask so you can begin preparing beforehand.

“Nope!” Anzu replies with a smile, “I just focused on getting the most out of it possible! You should have asked her yourself.”

“Great. Thanks.” You reply voice clipped. Knowing what kind of tank you’re against would’ve been a great help but unfortunately, it seems that won’t be the case.

>Work on Werewolf’s repairs

You were never the most social of people. While a festival sounded fun, it wasn’t really your cup of tea. Instead, you decided to work on Werewolf, his track had taken a nasty hit. You get to work taking off the roadwheels. The damaged ones are moved to the side in order to be repaired later and the working ones are inspected and cleaned, then put back onto Werewolf.

You don’t know how long you’re there for before someone enters the Sensha-Dō garage.

“Fritz? Is that you? What are you doing here?” You get up at the address and see Yukari shuffling about in the door.

“I am working on Werewolf’s track,” you say. “Took a nasty hit from a Crusader this morning and have a duel with Gloriana soon. Why are you here?”

“Oh. Er. I’m here to check on my tank you know? It feels so surreal, going from just being a regular old tank nerd to working with such brilliant machines! It doesn’t feel real sometimes…

> ”You know what is real? Interlocking road wheels.” Yukari loves Werewolf, you’re sure she’d jump at any chance to get her hands dirty.
> “Well have fun with that then. I have a track to repair.” Leave her to it. You’d prefer to work alone.
I’m falling asleep fellas. That'll be the last update today and we’ll continue tomorrow

Damn both Yukari and ourselves are ditching the festival to work on the tank.

So Anons what's our character? Since so far we are good at flirting that we unlock the first tiers of dating with Yuzu and Maho. We say stuff that is autistic in social situations that everyone likes. Like "I love you" to Saroi and "I show you mine you show me yours yes?"

We also like tanks a good amount like a tank autist with our tanker hat, our upgrades, our time spent working on the tank while a festival is happening.

So is our character just a good natured tank lover who just wants what's best for the team since we focus a good amount on teamwork with slight autism.

We should help her fix her tank after we're done with Werewolf.

It's those wily Pollacks we really need to fear. Don't want to have our very own Wizna.
I mean how egg-on-your-face does that have to be. Getting ground to a halt by a few dudes in bunkers, who you outnumber seventy-odd to one, who have ZERO significant fire support assets, for three entire days. Only to later learn that if you hadn't cut their communications, they would have received orders to withdraw on the first day before fucking lunch.

You'd think the Germans would have learned why those suck and stopped doing it. Then again, the Panzer VI (Tiger I) came BEFORE the Panzer V (Panther I), because Germans can't count.
Yes, I know the real reason is that the Panther went through a LOT of design iterations, while the Tiger was much more straightforward.

Hello all, I've been considering mass combat since the end of the Gloriana battle and find myself agreeing with the anon who said you need maps. Unfortunately, GuP isn't very good at giving those.

I, therefore, propose two solutions:
>I can draw the maps from the anime
They will be shit but accurate to the anime.

>I use WoT maps like I did with the Pershing match
Not anime accurate but it should be easier to facilitate tactical planning.

We'll decide before Maginot and that'll be our dry run of hopefully the final mass combat system.
>>
>>4240937
Anon who asked about the maps. You could do a bit of both. For example with the upcoming duel you can go full Wot/WT since it's not technically to "cannon". And for anime matches you can draw as close as you want with some mixups to spice things up. Or you could do what Germanschteel did and use googlemaps.

> ”You know what is real? Interlocking road wheels.” Yukari loves Werewolf, you’re sure she’d jump at any chance to get her hands dirty.

Yukari does her best fish impression, mouth opening and closing before she slowly starts speaking.

“You.. you’d let me work on Werewolf? But you watch the Automotive club like a hawk, let alone me!” She blurts out, not seeming to believe you.

“Of course, I would,” you reply as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “You probably know more about Panther II’s than I do.” You break eye contact and return to work, removing more roadwheels from Werewolf for inspection. “I will help you with your tank afterwards.”

“We did our repairs earlier,” Yukari mumbles, scratching the back of her head and refusing to make eye contact with you. “I was just here to uh, talk to him…” she trails off and you look at her for a second, she seems to quail under your gaze.

“How did you decide it was a him?” A tanker talking to her tank was far from the weirdest thing you’d seen while tanking.

“Oh, err he just kind of feels like a him.” She murmurs taking a seat next to you. She expertly examines one of the road wheels, putting it in the repair or replace pile before she continues. “Just a feeling when we stepped foot inside of him, I couldn’t describe it.”

You nod and make a grunt of understanding; you’d felt much the same way the first time you saw Werewolf.

You work in pleasant silence for a while, the interleaving design meaning the removal and sorting of almost all the road wheels on the right side of the tank. It’s finally broken when you ask a question.

“You decided not to attend the festival Yukari?” It was odd that someone would ditch the festival to work on tanks, regardless of how much they loved them.

“Hmm? Oh, I did, but we left early…” She trails off, you put down your tools and turn to look at her. She sighs and continues, “We met Hana’s mother and I told her we do Sensha-Dō, it didn’t end well.” She draws her knees up to her head, hugging her legs. “Hana said not to worry, but it still feels like I screwed it up for her.”
> “Hana would’ve had to say something eventually, it’s not your fault. Let’s take a break and do something.” (What?)
> “Hana would’ve had to say something eventually, we’ll get no work done like this. Let me escort you home.”

> “Hana would’ve had to say something eventually, we’ll get no work done like this. Let me escort you home.”

“I... yeah, you’re right!” The loader replies, a small smile returning to her face. The second part of your response then registers and she looks away, blushing. “Oh, er, you don’t have to do that.” She mutters, refusing to make eye contact.

“Nonsense.” You reply. “Ōoarai is pretty safe but I’d rather not take any chances with a friend.”

Her face is still burning, but you’ve either won her over or she’s too embarrassed to argue as she shuffles off to grab her bag. You mirror the action, leaving your tools neatly lain next to Werewolf’s roadwheels to be dealt with tomorrow.

By the time you meet Yukari outside the garages, her embarrassment has faded and, although you said it earlier to reassure her it turns out that she deserved to work on Werewolf it turns out she does know more about Panthers than you

“You thought about upgrading Werewolf’s tracks? So, you don’t have to deal with the interleaving wheels?” The question catches you off-guard guard and the best you can manage is an undignified.

“Huh?” Yukari laughs at your grunt and continues.

“MAN group built Panthers with non-interleaving roadwheels, I’m sure you’d be able to find some if you ask around.” She’s in tank nerd mode now, her confidence back now that she’s in her element.

“True, but interleaving wheels mean a lower ground pressure. Useful given how much Werewolf weighs.” The ensuing debate was fun, Yukari gave as good as she got despite having nowhere near the amount of experience Tanking as you.

“Okay, perhaps the T-34 was the best tank of the war, but pound for pound our tanks were far superior.” You argue, trying to get the upper hand in your debate. You can hear the smirk in her voice.

“Too bad there weren’t enough pounds though.” You huff in mock anger and march forward before being stopped by Yukari in front of a barber’s shop. Akiyama’s Barber’s shop to be precise. No prizes for guessing who’s family lives there.

You stand before the Freshmen, Rabbit team now you suppose given that all your tanks had received and animal moniker. Your face cruel and unflinching. Their shooting yesterday was admirable, abandoning their tank under fire was not. The rest of the Sensha-Dō team stands in two rows opposite each other as you address them.
“Rabbit team.” You begin, you’ve not even berated then yet and they’re already flinching, likely dreading whatever punishment you’re going to give them.

“For breaking and running, for endangering your own lives, for leaving a perfectly good tank, you are to be punished.” Their leader Azusa falls to her knees in front of you, tears in her eyes.

“Oh, please Commander Fritz! We won’t run again! We promise! We promise!” Most of the freshmen follow suit, a blubbering mess you find hard not to comfort.

“You will be forgiven.” You begin, they look to you hopefully. “If you run the gauntlet.” They look confused. You hear a laugh from the History Club, finally putting the rows and feather dusters together.

It was a mess. The freshmen barely made it a quarter of the way through before collapsing on the floor laughing. Your lines of feather dusters quickly turn into a mob, wailing on the poor freshmen.

The live-fire drill goes better, you start Rabbit team out just under MG fire, and slowly work your way up to the Panzer 38t plinking away at them. It isn’t much fire given that its Momo shooting but it’s fire none the less. Thankfully, Rabbit team manage not to leave the tank in what would have been a very dangerous way.

“Now Axel! Ruby! Target one hundred meters! Three O’clock!” A grunt of acknowledgement is all you get from your loader, as they prepare for the barrage.

Thump

Thump

Thump

Werewolf’s gun roars thrice in rapid succession, the shells screaming towards the poor wooden target. You lift your binoculars to your eyes to observe the damage. Three hits.

“Good hits gunner stand down.” You hear her collapse to the floor, alongside Axel, your gunner and loader exhausted after the continuous training on gun handling and rapid firing. This was the first time you’d taken at Ōoarai to sharpen your skills and it worked. Your steel folded one more time, Werewolf ever so slightly deadlier.

“That’s it for tonight.” You rumble into your throat mic. “Max, take us home.”

“You got it, boss.” Werewolf begins to turn on the spot giving a low keening sound almost unhappy to stop killing the poor defenceless wooden targets. Perhaps your imagination was just overactive, but either way, you take the time to pat Werewolf’s turret as if to reassure him that soon his bloodlust would be sated.

> Call someone from Ōoarai and see if they’re free to do something (Miho to do some planning)

You’re able to catch Miho just as she’s leaving Sensha-Dō practice that evening.

“Hey! Miho!” You call out, she was at the gate, just about to leave.

“Ah, Fritz. What’s up.” She smiles at you but still refuses to meet your eyes, perhaps the incident with her sister was still on her mind.

“Miho, you know about the duel with Darjeeling, right?”

“Yup, Darjeeling’s good so it’s going to be a tough one!” She replies back, nodding vigorously.

“Well, I was wondering if you’d be able to help me plan for it? Your tactical genius is off the chart, and any little tip or piece of advice would help.”

“Well I wouldn’t say genius…” she trails off, scratching the back of her head while smiling lightly. “But sure! Let’s use the president’s office. She won’t mind. Probably.”

“Probably.” You agree with a smile, heading back into school.

.

.

.

You arrive at the president’s office and get greeted by Yuzu. After a quick explanation, she welcomes you in.

“I’ll be back in an hour to lock the door!” You hear from her as she leaves to take care of something well above your paygrade.

You unfold the map of the field you found, and Miho immediately gets to work.

“Hmm, let’s see.” She says before pulling a marker from her pencil case. “Werewolf is best with long open sightlines to take advantage of the high-velocity eighty-eight millimetre. We don’t know much about who you’re against, but unless it’s a tank destroyer you should be able to beat them at range.” She marks down a couple of spots where you can best make use of the long eighty-eight

>Firing from the marked spots negates the accuracy penalty for long-range fire

>We’ll be using the grid to indicate ranges 4 squares = V. long-range, 3 = long-range, 2 = normal, 1 = close, same = V. close
>range is from the square adjacent to the one you’re in to the one the enemy is in.

>You can move one square per turn

Use this map or the blank one to plan any tactics.

“Thank you, Miho this will be really helpful.” Your packing up to leave after your impromptu tactics session with Miho.

She smiles back at you. “No problem Fritz! Anytime!” Her smile promptly drops, as she looks away. “I ah, have to ask you something…” She says quietly, almost whispering.

“Is something the matter?” You ask back, confused at the sudden change in attitude.

She takes a breath and steels herself before turning to you.

“Fritz! What are your intentions with my sister!” You’re not sure if she meant to shout, but she did. Thankfully there’s no one around to hear it.

Is the shaded purple region farm land, and considered to be okay concealment?
Is the shaded cyan region considered "urban" or more of a small village?
Is the shaded yellow a good representation of blocked sightlines on the RnR tracks?
Does the road on the left side with the trees provide any form of concealment?
Does driving on a road give a mobility bonus?

no, it's considered an open field and provides nothing

any area with a high-ish density of buildings. I'd consider this urban and apply the unwieldy gun modifier

yes, apart from a small gap fro the road in J7

no, it would stop an off-road negative modifier but you have that skill so won't be affected

No matter what tank our opponent brings, will they also only be able to move 1 tile per turn (y/n)?
Do tank destroyers in general, have a 5 tile range instead of 4 and/or have any mobility modifiers?

>” Nothing, she invited me to duel her and I intend to take her up on it.”

Miho stares at you for a good minute, eyebrows furrowed. Whatever she’s looking for she find it and nods gently, a smile returning to her face.

“That’s good.” She starts. “Maho is a great older sister and she deserves the best.”

“And I’m not?” You ask, slightly insulted.

“No, I didn’t mean it like that!” Miho replies quickly. “You’re great Fritz I just don’t want Maho to get hurt. If you do, you know, please don’t hurt her.” Miho steps in closer and pulls you into a hug, it’s quick you barely register it. “Thank you for arranging for Koume to be there.” Then she flicks your forehead.

“And THAT’s for saying such a dumb line to my sister! God, I wanted to die on the spot. I thought she’d kill you.” She berates you. In hindsight she’s probably right, but if it’s stupid and it works, is it really stupid?

“See you tomorrow Fritz.” Miho’s words snap you out of your thoughts as she leaves with a smile.

“See you Miho.” You sigh and get moving. Women. Am I right?

All right, last questions:
Does moving diagonally count as 1 turn of movement or can movement only occur horizontally or vertically?
Can the firing point (red circle) marked on the far right see/shoot over the train tracks marked with yellow?
On pic related: (blue) is our possible moves per turn if we cannot move diagonally to get to each circle, (corresponding colored Xs) are the max ranges from each circle, (green) is potential enemy movement with a larger tank, and (teal) is her turns to move on the same route with a smaller tank.

No, it can only see through the gaps. You wouldn't be able to do that if you weren't on the hill.

>(blue) is our possible moves per turn if we cannot move diagonally to get to each circle, (corresponding colored Xs) are the max ranges from each circle, (green) is potential enemy movement with a larger tank, and (teal) is her turns to move on the same route with a smaller tank.
Yes. this is the case for movements. The X's are accurate as well.

I shouldn't really say but since this is well done, you don't have to worry about Darjeeling getting to C9 as her tank doesn't have the off-roader skill.

For this hard work, h4++Q7CW, can have a save, that'll negate a 20 to a success

> Observe Ōoarai’s practice and give your advice (+4XP to Ōoarai)

It was starting to become a routine, every morning you would go to the tower and watch the other Ōoarai tankers practice. Be it gunnery practice or manoeuvring or whatever else Miho could come up with you were there in the tower, diligently taking your notes so you could debrief them come the end of the morning practise. Ōoarai were improving! Momo still couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn if she was inside it, and Rabbit team still screamed on the radio if they came close to getting hit, but aside from that, you’d say soon Ōoarai would be a force to be reckoned with. If they weren’t considered such already you muse.

> Look in the archives for any other goodies

According to Momo, there were still more tanks Ōoarai had laying around. Anything would be a help, given that at the finals you could have thirty tanks and Ōoarai had seven.

You knuckle down and turn your music on. Lessons learned perusing old documents springing to memory

I still managed to mess up markup3 and the teal "3" in C3 is actually a "2" and she gets to town in 3 turns in a small tank, but a little plinker at a range like that probably won't do much to us, should we choose to head for the orange circle. By turn 3 we would have no LOS to eachother due to the trains, but unless she sticks in the town to wait for us to go to F5, we would still have the upper hand, especially if she moves past us into G7 where she still might not have LOS. Also the blue line in the lower right hand corner will also only take 6 turns to reach via diagonal movement, assuming the grade is too steep on the left side of H0 and J0.

Rolled 2

You’re in your groove, as much as you hate it document diving is in your blood. Perhaps your great-grandfather was a particularly good bureaucrat or something. That train of thought leaves as you read and re-read one sentence. No. Surely not. You break into a sprint, the archive document clutched in your hand as you sprint for the only entrance to the bowels of the ship you know. Reserve Vault 17 you think.

.

.

.

You don’t know how long you’ve been in the bowels of the ship. It could be minutes it could be hours. But finally, you find Reserve Vault 17. The door is blocked, the door to this vault isn’t the same as the normal metal ones. You rear up and give it a mighty kick before walking in.

Something moves, with reflexes you didn’t know you have, you dive forward. Narrowly moving out of something very heavy falling. You know somehow, you got lucky. You examine what fell closely. A long cylinder shape? You snap your head behind you and see it. What you came for. Battered and dismantled but there none the less. A Tiger P…

Unfortunately, in your haste to confirm your findings you neglected to tell anyone where you were going, and your phone has no signal this deep in the ship

>Lots of people saw you running into the bowels. Wait here till someone finds you.

>Mama didn’t raise no bitch, find your own way out.

Mama Hermann was a hardy lady, raised in the Bavarian countryside, she had to learn how to be self-sufficient on the farm and that was something she passed on to both her children.

It’s child’s play to get back to the surface. You’re easily able to follow your footsteps towards your entry point. The route is familiar. The sailor girl standing in your way is not.

“What you are doing down here by yourself topsider?” She asks you.

Not in the mood for any delays, you snap back “Looking for tanks. And I’ve found one so get out the way.” She ignores your gruff demeanour and whistles.

“By yourself? That takes balls. I respect balls.” You aren’t sure whether she’s flirting with you or not and frankly you don’t care. You make to move past her, but she holds her hands out in front of her. “Calm down sparky, here.” She shoves a small piece of paper into your hand. Directions? “These’ll get you to the Donzoko. Hope we see you soon~” She walks off, with a swagger befitting a delinquent.

Weird girl…

It takes maybe another 10 minutes to get back to the entrance you used to enter the bowels of the ship. You take a gander out onto the top of the carrier and see a barricade of Sodoclones, stopping people from getting in.

“I’m sorry! We cannot let you in. If he’s lost down there, then we must wait for the proper authorities instead of risking our own lives!” One of them says.

“Oh, but please! What if he’s hurt or injured! Every second we spend waiting is a second that he coul-“you look at the speaker. It’s Yuzu, tears waiting to be shed, Momo behind doing her best to comfort her and Anzu with an uncharacteristically grim expression on her face. Anglerfish team is also there, hovering behind the student council looking absolutely terrified.

You clear your throat. “It’ll take more than terrible lighting and a poor layout to do me in.” All eyes snap to you. Yuzu lunges at you and tackles you to the ground. Crying into your chest.

“You idiot don’t go running off like that. Why would you even do something like that?” You can barely make her out over the tears.

I'm sorry Anon. Fritz is channeling too much of the aspect of Chad to NOT net a grillfriend. We need to activate our AuTism Field to neutralize the Chad.

The autism is what powers the chad. Saying "I love you" when we think we're saying "I love it," saying "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" when we're asking to inspect each other's tanks.

>This was a drill, to inform you all that I CAN NEVER DIE.

Yuzu blinks owlishly at your declaration. You sit up, Yuzu still on top of you and begin to regale your teammates with your tales of heroism in the bowels of the ship.

As your story winds to an end all the girls are staring at you. Apart from Saori who is wildly gesturing and whispering to a blushing Hana. Yuzu gets up off you and brushes down her skirt.

“It’s good to see you safe.” She sighs. “But please be careful, I don’t know what we’d do without you.”

“Have Miho lead you to victory most likely.” You deadpan, the girl in question blushing a little at the statement.

“Anyways.” Anzu interrupts. “We’ve all had a long day today and it’s ended well. I’ll get someone to have a look at that tank you found. Take tomorrow off Fritz, we NEED you in good shape for that Gloriana match.”

With that you take your leave, getting into bed never felt more relieving.

April 16th. Tuesday (Day 10) – 1 day till your match with Gloriana

You were able to sleep in today, a rare blessing given how early Sensha-Dō practice usually is. Anzu had also made sure you got the day off school meaning an even easier day. As well as banning you from doing any work. It’s special for another reason too, although it seems to slip your memory…

>think about why this day is special
You search your memory for a second in order to remember what was important about the 16th of April. You rack your brain, the beginning of the Battle for Berlin, the invention of LSD, your birthday! Of course! With all the commotion surrounding your entrance to Ōoarai, you’d almost forgotten. It seems your classmates hadn’t, given the impromptu dinner Miho was suggesting.

You pick up your phone and shoot a text to Miho asking if your crew could come. Apparently they were already invited, confirming your birthday theory.

With that out the way, you picked up the phone and dialled Yuzu. It took a couple of rings but eventually, you got through.

“Hello? That you Fritz?” You hear her crackle through your receiver.

“It is.” You reply. “I wanted to call to ask you a couple of things.”

“Sure, go ahead! You got to be quick though, Anzu needs me for a couple jobs.” You can hear the resigned smile in her voice. Despite being horribly overworked she still loved her role.

“Are you going to Miho’s little party tonight?” You ask.

“Sure am! I guess you’re coming too if you’re asking!” She’s excited about the party. You could hazard a guess why.

“I am.” You chuckle. “One last question. Are you free for dinner this weekend?” You say it casually, but it causes an immediate reaction from the girl on the other end.

“Dinner?” She says meekly, you can hear the blush through the phone. “Saturday’s good.” She says. Louder than before, having found nerve from somewhere.

“Saturday at six then.” You say with a smile. “See you then.”

“See you tonight.” She replies before you can remember the party. You hear a soft laugh before the phone hangs up.

You’re pretty sure you would’ve figured out it was a surprise party of some kind, even if you hadn’t remembered the date. The door was closed when you arrived, and you could hear the excited whispers from inside. You knocked, and Miho opens the door.

“SURPRISE!” You blink and look at the scene before you, Anglerfish team, your crew, the history club, Azusa of the freshmen and Yuzu are all packed into Miho’s little apartment. You even spy the diminutive student president somewhere at the back, Momo not far behind. A banner saying, ‘Happy Birthday!’ fluttering to some unseen breeze.

You take in the sight, all the people, celebrating you and can’t help but smile.

“Cake Time!” Saori runs in from the kitchen and plonks a cake down on the table, black forest cake, the irony not lost on you. It certainly looks homemade, but it tastes professional for sure.

I generally agree, but the Neubaufahrzeug is not only crap (the Boys anti-tank rifle could easily pen the thing for pete's sake), but also impossible to acquire. They only built five, all of which were scrapped. Thre are no surviving tanks, the only surviving PARTS are a small handful of running gear parts in a museum in Norway.
So we'd have to somehow conjure one from nonexistence, just to have it suck as bad as the Mark they're already in.

>Thank everyone for being there and being awesome
>It is custom you must feed everyone a bit. Everyone

“Wow, thank you all! I don’t think I’ve ever had this many people celebrating my birthday.” You start, taken aback.

“Yer haven’t. Usually, it’s just you and the lads.” Your driver Max chips in, to snickers from the rest of your crew.

“And that makes the next part difficult.” You mutter to yourself as you take a massive slice of the cake. “Right, who’s first?”

“First?” Saori asks confused inadvertently volunteering herself to get the first bite of cake.

“It is custom.” You begin as Saori chokes down the cake you shoved in her mouth. “That the person whose birthday it is feeds the others a bite of cake.” You look at the almost twenty garupans assembled before you. “This will be fun…”

Surprisingly, the cake feeding doesn’t go that badly. You start with your crew members, almost flinging the cake at them. They’re used to it however and are able to adeptly catch the cake with a promise to do the same when their turn comes. Feeding the girls, goes slightly less smoothly. Most are no problem, Hana politely taking the bite from you as do the history club. According to them ‘cake’ comes from an Old Norse word. Who knew? Mako is also easy. She’s asleep but you just shove the cake in the general vicinity of her mouth. She’ll figure it out.

“Over 57,000 T-34’s were built by the end of the war.” Yukari murmurs as you feed her a slice. You don’t get why that would be relevant but continue on to Miho who takes the bite with a small blush and a thank you. Azusa is no better, barely chewing the cake before retreating behind Anglerfish team. That leaves the student council. And Yuzu.

You approach the student council, Yuzu first. With a wink and a small smile, she takes the cake with her teeth, leaving you to deal with Anzu and Momo.

“Momo! Help me up!” She’s immediately on all fours, Anzu using Momo as a stool so you wouldn’t have to bend down. You’re not quite sure what to think of that as you plop a piece of cake into Anzu’s mouth. Finally, you get to Momo who’s picked herself up and takes the cake out of your hand to eat rather than have it fed to her.

April 17th. Wednesday (Day 11) Match with Gloriana

The day had come. Time for your duel against St. Gloriana. Ōoarai had docked for the day in Yokohama, all for your match. Werewolf is loaded onto a tank transporter to be taken to the match field. Sitting with you I the cabin aside from your crew was the driver and the student council, briefing you on the match. It was a bit of a cramped fit but it was that or someone ride on the roof.

“Alright Hermann listen up!” You can hear Anzu addressing you. “St. Gloriana has their new super tank or whatever and it’s your job to turn it to scrap metal. We don’t know what the tank is, but we reckon you can take it!”

“Would’ve been useful if you could’ve got some information out of Darjeeling.” You mutter in response.

“Sorry.” She says entirely unrepentant. “I got a tank out of her instead!”

“What tank?” You say. Everyone in the Cabin has turned to look at Anzu now who just shrugs and pulls out some sweet potato chips.

“It’ll be a surprise for all of us!” She replies. You don’t really like the idea of doing this for an unknown reward but you’re here now. As the transport pulls to a stop you hop out and shout for your crew. It was time to get to work.

.

.

.

“Werewolf team, so good to see you’ve made it.” An accented voice calls out. You turn around and see Darjeeling surrounded by a couple of her fellow tankers. You idly note that it’s not her normal crewmembers rather, she’s pulled the best from her Tankery club. You look past her, ignoring the girls for a minute and see the tank you’ll be facing.

>” Of course we did, it’d be rude to turn down a lady.”
I made a plan with the map that h4++Q7CW made. Some things we know about Darjeeling Centurion. The (red line) is our possible route to the hill to get the high ground. The (dark red Xs) would be our very long range. If they go the long route to rest us. (The grey line)

I think that while we are going up the hill either their going to see us go up depending what route we take, or the hill will hide our tank from their view allowing us to have a surprise attack. [

>Doesn't have off-roader skill
>Not a tank destroyer
>Not a light or very heavy tank
So they mostly stick with the road. Goes 1 tile per turn, doesn't have more range than use since it's not a tank destroyer. So I would say we should use our long range to shoot the Centurion. With our skill Frenzy we can shoot her ass 3 times in one turn. While it stops us from firing the next turn we could always drive down the hill for a turn to hide from the Centurion return fire and let our gunner/loader rest. Our gun isn't affected by very long range as well.

The pink-haired one, Rosehip, snorts at that. You get a small smile from the redhead flanking Darjeeling and a roll of the eyes from Rukuriri. The blonde gunner on Darjeeling’s left laughs and shakes her head. A very diverse set of reactions.

“Truly?” Darjeeling responds, eyebrow cocked. “Then I daresay you’ll find yourself a very busy man.” Her expression becomes a small smile. “I’ve been looking forward to this match Commander Hermann.” She turns to leave and throws one last remark over her shoulder. “Take whatever time you need Commander. Let me know when you’re ready to go.”

You, in turn, turn to the assembled Ōoarai tankers and address them.

> Talk to someone in particular
> Address your crew (what do you say)
> Call someone who may be able to give you advice on fighting a centurion (who)

I will be gone for one hour. After that, we run nonstop till this battle is over or I am dead.

Use this time wisely.

>>4243236
Good plan, just remember this is Darjeeling's home turf.
>>
>>4243262

Also before I forget, currently your and darjeeling’s view range is the same (v. long range) unless you roll really well for awareness
>>
>>4243262
>> Call someone who may be able to give you advice on fighting a centurion (Miho)

> Call someone who may be able to give you advice on fighting a centurion (Miho)

Your crew are professionals, running their final checks over their stations, they ready Werewolf for action. You take the time to call the only person you know who may rival you in skill. It doesn’t even ring before she picks up.

“Fritz? Why are you calling me? You should be getting ready!” She starts before you have a chance to get a word in. You cut her off.

“I’m against a Centurion. Mark one.” She’s silent for a second and you hear a conversation on the other side of the phone before a new voice starts talking.

“Fritz!” It’s Yukari. “The turret is really strong! Aim for the Co-axial twenty millimetre if you want to get through! We’re rooting for you!” You’re about to reply, but then Miho comes on the line again.

“Good luck Fritz.” And it goes dead. You put the phone away and head to Werewolf

>Turret weak spot – If you hit the turret roll 1d5 Bo1. If you roll 1 it hits the Co-ax.

“Tankers the Match has begun!” The referee is heard but ignored, irrelevant information. All that matters now is you, the enemy and the battlefield. You look down to your map and decide how you’re going to approach the battle

>Choose the Grid square you’re going to move to and roll 4d20 Bo3

Updates will be quick and short till contact is made.

Big Circle is approx view/firing range

Move to J5 let’s head for the elevated spot in the middle. She’s probably going for the one on the east so we can smack her in the side as she comes down the road

If we don't see them from the middle it just goes to show you that they headed to the east. Since I'm guessing we can see all the way west of the rails

Writing now.

(Since otherwise there would be no combat for 5ish turns I’ll ask for 4d20 for each tile you travel. I’ll speed up when there is no combat and slow down when there is. Combat rolls will still be 4d20 Bo3)

>No Combat, Crit Accuracy Carried over
>No Combat, Crit Penetration carried over

You look at your map and ponder it for a second. That’s all it takes for you to come to a decision.

“Max! Advance north west! We head for the ridge at F5”. You bark. From there you have a commanding view of the plains to your left and a window past the train tracks to your east.

Werewolf roars into action, heavy he may be, immobile he is not. The rugged terrain does little to slow you down. You survey your surroundings ahead of you, then check your map. You’re at G5 and can’t see the Centurion. It means that Darjeeling isn’t rushing forward but well there was little chance of that anyway.

You decide to.

>Continue to the cliff at F5, and take up an overwatch position facing east.
>Continue to the cliff at F5, and take up an overwatch position facing west.
>Write-in

Roll 2d20 Bo3 (Awareness and Manouvering since the crits haven’t been used for accuracy and penetration.)

yes

Your crit for Accuracy and higher awareness means you'll get a hit if she goes past that Line of Sight
