You are Alfonso Barbatti, retired sailor and butcher lost in his past. Your savior complex started after seeing a play based on your northern expedition, things turned for the worse after your captain was accused of conspiring against the Doge turning your fame against you.In this City-State rapidly turning into a Thalassocracy, thanks to the Doge who introduced Demihuman slavery and Elven trade, heroes and magic are slowly forgotten. Teaming up with the veterans of the SSN Polaris, you fight every day for resources and help people while the Plague is ravaging the City.Swift cleaver-wielding, orphan saving, brutal flintlock duellist and friend of Demihumans, you are helping a half-racoon girl to rescue Dottore Bernardo Pastori. An alchemist working on the Philosopher Stone. With the help of a beuatiful Wizard Assassin and a charismatic aeronaut mafioso you should assault the Citadel in less than four days.
The Plague :https://pastebin.com/Zu47npJ6It's a multiple stage disease where a patient can relapse and progress to the next stage even if he was treated. There is an appropriate level of treatment for each stage and different type of contamination that you learned.Stage One>High fever, runny nose, sore throat, muscle and joint pain, headache, coughing, and feeling tired. You contracted it as well as several people of your community. With an airborne contamination, symptoms get worse each passing day unless you have a proper meal with meat and enough vitamins then get to rest in a warm place. Infected can relapse. In that case, they will progress to the next stage. Stage Two>Abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, with bleeding. You and Hugo, a child from your community, contracted it. Contagion happens after touching infected body fluids and putting fingers to your mouth or direct exposure to infected blood. Infected can relapse. In that case, they will progress to the next stage. Stage Three>Necrosis. DEATH.Only those two words were written on the newspaper, leaving no room for imagination. You encountered people with black spots on their body, they were instantly killed by the Militia. A lot of bodies in the Dead Zone presumably died of Stage Three . Rodents can be found dead everywhere in the canals but somehow they move in deadly swarm inside the Dead Zone.Characters : https://hostpic.fr/uploads/20200414/5d7d7a630997b439321bc00d074be95ee91f9aff.jpgMario (Stg I, treated): gunsmith of the SSN Polaris, an old friend with alcohol problemsLuigi: carpenter of the SSN Polaris, not so keen on being bossed around when his wife is pregnantValentina: Luigi's wife in pregnancy, not so fond of her husband's friends Amicia (Stg I, treated): daughter of the murdered director of the Academy, higly educatedHugo (Stg II, treated): Amicia's brother and musician prodigy, too famous to get outsideThe City :https://pastebin.com/tLLeFY9EEvery place you discovered should be here, it's mainly to keep tract of your secondary objectives and opportunities as well as obstacles and danger areas. Covered in infected blood you crossed the Grand Canal with stilts stolen from two Militiamen you shot with a flintlock pistol. However, you have been spotted soon after on the other side by three Militiamen in cuirasses and armed with pikes. It's the Militia and as they were instructed they are going to apprehend someone with blood on his clothes and conduct him to a disinfection camp. Carrying a Militia's rifle and prohibited Iceburst Stone on this part of the City, you risk a lot here. But those are the same despicable person who throw people in the Grand Canal, extort cans of meat and treat Demihumans like animals."A puker!" one of them barks "Get him!"A nervous spasm jerks your shoulder and makes your head tilts. You just escaped a bloody knife-fight using short blades and awakened something buried deep inside you, something ugly. >>4195539>escape to the Hospital (Physical) (+5 thanks to the speed potion)Last thread someone said this could heighten tension between the Hospital and the Militia, but it should be fine as long as they didn't see us with the stilts or anything incriminating, which it doesn't appear that they did. The blood on our outfit isn't ours, but they're assuming it is because we're sick and must have puked it up.
>>4195539>>run the fuck away (Physical) (+5 thanks to the speed potion)The militia and hospital already have bad blood between them, since the hospitals refused to hand over the Stage 2 patients. A suspicious looking puker toting a rifle evading them to go hide there may worsen things between them, and bring about a clampdown on a lot of innocent people. Instead, just run off. We can shoot one of them, and maybe get a headshot in, then we'd have to deal with two others wearing a cuirass. With pikes. With a cleaver. They'll get what's coming their way in due time, but this is a fight that we will not win easily.Shamelessly reposting my write-in from last thread.

>>4195720Agreed.We're not in a good position, but thankfully were not injured, and are seemingly in better physical shape than these guys. Or, at least are not as weighed down. Fighting here is going to definitely raise tensions between the militia and hospital if we leave any survivors. If we can pull this off with no militia witnesses, then these corpses are definitely going in the canal. If they manage to call for help or get away, we are sure as shit not going to be able to sell this rifle. At least at the weaponsmith. The slums however may be more receptive. This fucker is worth 10 gold coins at the weaponsmith. We could definitely buy one of those large healing potions, at the least. Maybe an incendiary/explosive as well.

While I realize that he's not going to buy it back at the full 10 gold value, if we succeed the social roll well enough then we're definitely going to stand to make some pretty serious coin. Though, it's value is definitely going to be lowered (if he will even accept it at all) if there are any obvious militia markings on it. Meanwhile, the South Slums offered a large healing potion for two flintlocks, and the rifle is worth a hell of a lot more. Though the kid did say:>Ah Ah Ah. I don't want your piss metal, stranger. Here it's all about things you can use. We are ahead of the curve here. It's THE SOUF. So, they may value two slightly mediocre guns more than one conventionally valuable long rifle. Why bother with 1 person shooting at the northerners slightly better, if 2 people could be shooting at northerners at the same time, right? If that's their way of thinking, and the weaponsmith won't pay us in gold for the flintlock rifle, I wonder if we could just exchange it for as many flintlock pistols as we could instead.
>>4195799There's no way we'll get ten for the simple reason that if he buys for the same price he sells he'd make no money. Not to mention this one is used and obtained through dubious means.

Maybe other shops will soon be in the same situation."I'm quite interested in buying another wool tunic" you start "but right now I don't have enough can of meat.""Ah finally!" he rejoices vividly clapping his hands "Please note that our underwear are made with the finest sea-goat wool, you have to wash them only for stains.""Oh, that's convenient.""Yes but sea-goat wool is too impracticable for our more refined outfit. You need to take better care of them or else their effect on people will wear out.""But what about this raincoat?" you point at the merchandise with a gold coin "it looks familiar.""This is a sailor raincoat coated in a New World's resin called rubber. While ugly it will protect you from rain and stains."Now you can focus on finding Lisa's ingredient for a ritual supposed to help with assaulting the Citadel. The tailor not being able to keep up with demand is concerning. We should definitely get on top of getting him more sewing machines/material from the ship. Tomorrow, possibly? And the apothecary sells their elixirs. If they hit a supply issue as well, then people would miss out on their effects as a way to treat the plague without the use of a healing potion. (Maybe we could use what Amicia told us about what combinations would suppress what stages of the plague, as a bargaining chip with the apothecary woman? That is, unless she doesn't know already herself. She marketed eucalyptus to us and how it can treat Stage 1, but may not know that a combination of eucalyptus/quinquina/poppy can be used to treat stabilize stage 3.)Also. To deal with the Elves at the harbor, we could use Amicia's help, as she knows elvish dialects. We could also probably get a bonus for negotiations if she mentions that essential shops are running into supply issues, and that the situation would deteriorate further if people could not buy masks/plant based elixirs. Same thing may work in the machine shop for the tailor.

The Goodhealth ship may be easier to resolve, as the crazy apothecary woman mentioned that they don't use any animal based products in their elixirs, solely plants. Probably already buddy-buddy with the Elves. Though, to do that we may have to speak with Mr. Goodhealth himself at the Pearl of the Ocean.
>>4196314>>4196352Around noon, you enter the Apothecary shop of Mr. Goodhealth. Much quieter than the Tailor with its dozen of sewing machines drumming in the back shop, the sun's ray give this place a serene atmosphere and make the elixir bottle shine. This place is true perfection."Hello, hello, hello!" the despicable woman rises from behind the counter "Welcome to Mr. Goodhealth's shop. You can wash your hands 10 times and I can produce as much as I want." she wags her harms at the backshop "And it's not with that half bottle of alcohol you will win this"An idea unworthy of a hero crosses your mind. You quickly forget about it, refraining also your wish to teach this woman about compassion for her fellow Human beings instead of making profit on other people's misery."Is there anything else you had like?" she shamelessly displays her teeth in what could be a smile"Si. >>4197907>(Optional) What are your thoughts on how the Militia treat Demihumans (Raphaelle seen as a domestic slave, Lizardman used as mount)?Depends on what they did to be treated like that. Treated in such a way for existing? Unjust. Treated that way due to harsh crimes committed? Fine, but still a little severe. Some of them have questionable traditions (Giants/Ogres organ harvesting for example) and depending on how widespread, brutal, and common such examples are, then some mistreatment coming back toward the races that commit such atrocities is understandable.>>Can you show me how to make that alcohol gel?>what's wrong with your dad?>ever thought of using a printing press for Alchemy recipes? The printing press is important to ask. If he doesn't think the idea will work, it may not even be worth attempting, which would save us from trying to deal with finding a printing press, and the lengthy procedure of translating a book. As for mass production, I'd like to help him out with kicking that off. But he already mentioned before that he needs a steady alcohol production going, as well as brokering a deal with the cannery to give him fat. And mystical stones of course, but those will have to come from either making a deal with the Archaeological Center, stealing from them, or pulling off some kind of heist on a lot of streetlamps using those stilts. Maybe in the Dead Zone? No one lives there now, so we won't really be hurting anybody much if we snag them. They may have already been looted, or maybe the district became the Dead Zone before the looting of streetlamps really became common. Not sure. It's worth taking into consideration though.>Mention our desire to help start the mass production of alcohol gelSeems to me that the raid the Souf committed really hurt them here. They may just be planning to close up shop and jump ship and try to get out of the city with the help of smugglers. Or lock down, and become like they were in The Fall of a Dwarven Fortress. Either way, that doesn't help the situation here.
>>4197907Darn, missed the earlier votes. Supporting >>4197982 adding, that we probably think that treating sapient beings like they're animals is incredibly unjust. Considering it's the Militia and Franz, we should do something about that Demihuman mount, eventually. I don't think we really have enough to buy anything but a medium health potion, right? Save the gold for now.

Because there was that other miracle, that involved a corpse. The more powerful, the better. Payback could extend to a personal (potentially slightly dead) level.

There was no real occasion to learn on the non-Humans. Most of what you know come from popular belief or what other people told you, knife-ears are bad, Dwarfs are good craftsmen, Ogre and Giants have cannibalistic rituals, Gnomes are... huh... weird. And finally when you got malaria in the New World, bedridden during a whole layover, unable to get a look at these strange Demihumans. You've only met an Ogress and a Fishmen recently, both helped you more than some Humans in the City. Also, Raphaella may have saved your life. You are still uncertain about how to judge other species, but if an opinion you should have than it must be on their culture or case-by-case. If they committed crimes or atrocities, then they deserve to be treated like that. If it's just pure racism, this is wrong and you ought to correct it.Guilty or not, this Lizarman could help you for some reasons... The call of Charon grows in your heart thinking of such heretic practices. You should sleep on it and maybe reconsider tomorrow morning.

>>4199180Fuck it. Supporting this, just to move things along. But while we're on the way, I want to try to find a Gondola to transport the device while we're at it. The Noble District is really out of the way, and I don't really want to head all the way there to look for an apple that probably isn't there without trying to deal with the other thing that would draw us back there. We're going to burn the rest of the day getting there, so we'd better make it worth the trip. We can also try to keep an eye out for Franz and the lizardman on the way, potentially. Though, she just came here to pick up some healing potions, so she likely immediately took them straight to the Arsenal. Maybe for the best, since any rolls involving her will be difficult. tl;dr look for a gondola to use to transport the devices on the way to the Hothouse, maybe Franz as well.
>>4199180>>4199190It's 6PM when you reach the Noble District, and the curfew just started. The Militia in the Arsenal gave you strange look as you made your way to the fancy mansions with your crusader helmet and pistol. Thankfully, they mistook you for a noble with weird fashion sense and were too busy drinking before the start of their patrol. Even Franz was busy resting her boots on the Lizardman while drinking at a table."Leader, you shouldn't drink that stuff you know." one of the Militiaman worries about her"You've got some nerve to order me around trainee." she arrogantly whines sipping on a healing potion"Ah no, I didn't want to-""Let's see if you can do more than talking!" she kicks the Lizardman away, swiftly getting her sheathed longsword The poor subordinate hastily pull on his sword, unfastening his belt at the same time and loosing his clown-looking uniform's pant for all to laugh. Franz strikes with the pommel of her sword, right in his guts, taking his breath away. The fight ends without any more incident and the leader getting back to her healing potion. Now you learned about the schedule of Franz. She might be at the bridge around noon but stay in the Arsenal after all afternoon.
>>4199212Your fever is now getting worse, accompanied by cramps in all your body. So, it was not a reaction to the Alchemist revelations, you might be having a Stage One relapse because of the lack of vitamins that could progress in Stage Two. Or worse, the blood you had on your hands gave re-contaminated you with Stage Two.While making scenarios in your head to trace back where you got the disease again, you stumble in front of the Hothouse. A magnificent building of glass and steel where various trees are growing out of season. Young nobles are playing inside, despite the curfew. There are even two Militiamen on the entrance. Inside you can see an apple tree, even a citrus tree and a giant one that might be just what you need to cross the canal. However, getting inside will be an arduous task. There are of course the vents on the roof where smoke continually pours out, but you have nothing to climb such heights, not even a jump potion. Looking down on the canal you notice that the lagoon engulfs itself in the building to provide plants with water by evaporation. Here, the canals are clears and transparent, even with slightly azure because of the plankton. You remember tossing two young drunkard in this water, maybe you can swim in it too.>break a glass and enter from the back (Mental) (write-in for diversion provide bonus)>try to escalade the building and enter through the vents (Physical)>bribe the guards with the dry sausage (Social)>bribe the guards with a gold coin>swim in order to enter through a canal>write-in (write-in are always available but I may or may not choose them)

>>4199214>>break a glass and enter from the back (Mental) (write-in for diversion provide bonus)Try to look for something flammable. Disassemble 2 paper cartridges (save the lead) and get firework with it. Use the paper from the cartridges to further add to the fire. Try to set it up so it makes a bit of a bang with the gunpowder after it burns through most of the paper and whatever else we find to light. If we can't find anything, use some of the spare gloves we have. Use the flint of the pistol to light it up, if we can't get a flame going then use some alcohol gel. 1 use at most, however. After lighting the flame, run off behind the building and wait for it to go off before breaking the window. It's winter, the canals may be clean, but if we swim in them we're going to be freezing all the way back home. If we haven't relapsed quite yet, then we surely would after that.
>>4199228I didn't really explain too well there. To clarify>Search for something flammable (or use some extra gloves if these streets prove to be garbage-free)>Set up whatever we find to act as a fuse >Use a small amount of alcohol gel as an accelerant to get the fire going>Position 2 paper cartridges worth of gunpowder at the end of the shitty, makeshift fuse>Run off, wait for the slightly oversized firecracker to go off>Break window as synced up as possible with the small explosion>Apples and saplings, maybe citrus as well to get those sweet vitaminsNot really sure how well this could be executed by Alfonso. It certainly would not be a large blast, but would hopefully be enough to draw off attention from the big score. I'm worried about the vents potentially injuring us even if we succeed the roll, or at least killing off any semblance of stealth in case we don't have much time inside. Might just be overthinking things, not sure.

And to make it worse, I became a carpenter, receiving orders from architects, and now...""And what are you planning to do?""Maybe once this is over I'm going to emigrate to the New World with Valentina and build my own house..." he pauses hesitantly "far away""Any way, I apologize for making you unpleasant stuff, Luigi.""I'm sure you are."That was a very unpleasant discussion. It's now time for a good night sleep under the benevolent watchful eyes of Luigi. You wake up with a knife under your throat. Might try to come up with something to add to it after sobering up. though the timing doesn't seem like it'll work outYeah. It makes the most sense to free her during the assault with Lisa's assassins to free the Gallileof. And it's certainly going to be a while before that is feasible. Amicia and Hugo will be long gone by then. My write-in is more of a courtesy, I don't really see it really driving them to say. Anyway. Still around, Alde?
>>4201632Thinking about it, we need to find out how to break Tartarus chains, both for her and the Franz's lizardman. If we time things right, we could perhaps free her? I dunno. This will take a lot of planning.
>>4201643>Thinking about it, we need to find out how to break Tartarus chainsDefinitely. I figured we'd speak to Lisa after bringing her the Apple and whatever we get from La Stampa from Alphonse. She certainly should be the most informed about that sort of thing, and the least risky person we could ask. We could also learn at the Abbey, but they'll certainly not be receptive if we stroll up and ask about Tartarus Chains and how to break them.
>>4201645Though. If we have 2 days, and speak to Lisa tonight at her Sanctum, we'll have literally 1 day to find the Lizardman, prepare the ritual in the same day, and commence the assault that night. We really need to know where to find Lisa during the day. So far, we just know Cemetary, and night. Maybe we can get an extra day if we send Raphaella to the Citadel and yell for Bernardo again. To give him some hope. So he can try to hold out for a while longer. It'd be a good move anyways, just so we can hopefully narrow down the building he is in during the assault night. We should try to get more healing potions as well. We have a medium potion, but anyone we bring with us may get injured in the assault. Alternatively, Franz has been said to not back down from a fight. Maybe we can find something good to bet, and try and get a rematch with her. We get one hit in before getting knocked flat on our ass, and we get ownership of the lizardman. If not, then she gets what we offer. Should try to pull this stunt around 5PM Pacific, when Alde starts running, so all of us are around to vote. You and I seem to be the only ones still around late night.

There's also the problem concerning the Organ Harvester in the Redlight District but it's currently at the bottom of your priority list. It's 11AM, the rush hour at the main bridge. Since Franz took charge, the flow has been greatly improved. >>4203666>>4203749Thanks to the rain and the new management, the crowd is less packed at the bridge. The waiting time should be of around hours. There, Franz is personally checking anyone who might be a Stage Two or higher, protected from the rain by the Lizardman huge frame above her."You..." she smiles deviously at someone under a cloak "aren't you hiding something?"The persons she is referring to has his arms holding his flanks, he opens his mouth to show there is no sign of blood or inflammation. But, unsatisfied, the Militia leader sign her men high on their stilts to ready their halberd."You don't want to lie to me, right?" she asks hauling her sheathed sword on her shoulders "then strip."At first hesitant, the man slowly removes the cloak, resigned. Countless black stains are unveiled on his body making the Militiamen on stilts panic. Franz order them to get a hold of themselves and to give her a pistol. She extends her arm, getting the farthest away from his head she is aiming at point-blank. Despite the beating rain, the surrounding crowd that might react, and the Lizardman just behind her who is now holding her sword, she fires. It's nothing short of an execution, you think, as the motionless body fall in the canal."My Luck just never wears out." she just says, tossing the flintlock pistol to the servile Lizardman and taking back her swordSwallowing your rage, you grip tightly a flintlock pistol. The woman, however, is perfectly aware of what's going on at ground level, making her behaviour even more condemnable. It's 2PM when you cross the bridge, without a chance to get your revenge at the Militia or their representative. Still, there are plenty of things to do. The Dead Zone is two hours from here and you will have to walk under that rain, making your clothes all damp. He'll have seen a secretive death cult in a crypt within the very cemetery he works in daily. We've seen the corpses of Stage 3s turn to ash themselves at a single touch. That I went through all the trouble of being your tutor, you little... little brats just for you to escape the curfew and then paint graffities over the walls?"She is referring to La Stampa today's edition apparently. Before her forehead can form permanent wrinkles out of her anger, she tries to regain her composure and continue her unusual sermon."It's fine to have fun." the student stop looking at their shoes "but you are my dear student right? Don't do anything reckless." she warmly ends with a wink.Lisa really likes her children, students, disciples, whatever they are. Actually who are they? She mentioned being officially their tutor. You are afraid of the implications for a poor butcher in his thirties like you. With your rough sun-baked and arctic proof skin you definitely look older, not taking into account your majestic moustache. However, something tells you in the way she behaves and because she is a noble that she is not far from your age. She has still some years before going past the threshold, something that could need a thorough check. The ceremony starts. Amidst the cold stone uncomfortable benches and the faint buzz of the Mystical Stone, the clear sound of water on the altar is music to your ears. It's more soothing than the cathedral with its chants and zealous preach. Lisa is opening a book and start a lecture with her imperious voice.A marsh it makes, which has the name of Styx,This tristful brooklet, when it has descendedDown to the foot of the malign gray shores. And I, who stood intent upon beholding,Saw people mud-besprent in that lagoon, All of them naked and with angry look. They smote each other not alone with hands,But with the head and with the breast and feet,Tearing each other piecemeal with their teeth.Said the good Master: "Son, thou now beholdest The souls of those whom anger overcame; And likewise I would have thee know for certainBeneath the water people are who sighAnd make this water bubble at the surface,As the eye tells thee wheresoe'er it turns. Fixed in the mire they say, 'We sullen wereIn the sweet air, which by the sun is gladdened,Bearing within ourselves the sluggish reek; Now we are sullen in this sable mire.'This hymn do they keep gurgling in their throats, For with unbroken words they cannot say it."Thus we went circling round the filthy fenA great arc 'twixt the dry bank and the swamp,With eyes turned unto those who gorge the mire;Unto the foot of a tower we came at last.+10 Charon's alignmenet-10 Sol's alignmenet
>>4207880The students who gradually lost their attention during the lecture can barely keep going. Lisa lets a snort of contempt, taking mercy on her disciple and ends the lecture. Not by taking the same door you used to enter the temple, but literally disappearing out of thin air.You jerk your body from left to right seeing this sorcery. In my defense, I voted for the stilts due to the two hours it'd take him to get home from here, through Elven territory after curfew. Mario hates Elves, had a firearm, and is not stealthy whatsoever. Assumed the stilts would be the best bet for getting him home safely. So, with the Thurible I was thinking we'd create a distraction to lure most of the Militia in the citadel to one location before using it. Otherwise its effects would probably just be confined to one building. How do we activate it, Alde?
