In the Emptiness of empty space, brews an erstwhile ancient race.In that void of voids has always waited,an endless stomach never sated,an unthing blind, and dumb, and most divine.that bears a never yet thought sign.Unconceived, but holy all the samelies upon its corpse an empty name.Thadoz Welcome back to Eldritch evo! Last thread, which happened in unknown, ancient eons: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/3083697/#p3083697The Setting:There is something strange about planet SII-2453-0. Having exited a period of prolonged volcanic activity, life has emerged in its unlit oceans, first plants, then herbivores, then scavengers and carnivores. This fact alone is not yet strange, but coupled with the fact that SII-2453-0 is a Rogue planet, receiving scarcely enough light from the far away stars to facilitate the faintest glow upon its surface, it makes for quite the oddity. It appears that the energy the plants consume and that keep the planet at an acceptable temperature for life comes not from the stars, but from within. Something lies within that planet, something that craddles its molten core, and which gives off an energy unlike any other in the known universe. The thing was dramatically dubbed 'It-that-dwells-bellow', and the energy it sent out 'Null Light', on account of its particles sharing many qualities with photons, though its visible spectrum is very limited. The plants on SII-2453-0 have learned to synthesize it, and pass it on to the food chain they are at the bottom of. Soon however, the peculiar energy manifested itself in peculiar ways, and quickly, the wildlife takes advantage of these new powers in their evolutionary struggle..
>>4176899Pdf related is the dossier of the surviving organisms from last thread. How to play:• Open an image of a species in MS Paint, or your editor of choice• Make one evolutionary change to that species (try to turn off anti-alialising when drawing)• Save as .PNG!• Post your new species in the thread with a description of what evolution you've added and why.• Details indicating what the generation of your species is important. Please indicate. (Base Organisms are Generation 0)• Details regarding a creatures size or name aren't necessary, but are encouraged.• Nothing too outlandish. Anything incredibly silly or outlandish will not be considered a canon species 95% of the time.• Between evolutions using 'Null Light' (see bellow) any given ID should try to make at least one evo without it. This is not a hard and fast rule, but it's a suggestion meant to prevent power creep.Notes:• Unless stated explicitly, no species ever goes extinct. Old species can still evolve, even if they're not on the latest "chain"• Try to make your evolutions gradual and realistic in biological standards.• This includes 'supernatural' evolutions, which must flow naturally from what has been established before, just as normal evolutions would. It is not permissible to just say 'and now they can shoot lightning' without internally and evolutionarily consistent explanation.• From time to time I will update an Phylogeny Chart so you can track your progress• Also from time to time, random world events will occur• Rules for Extinction will be supplied with extinction eventsSupernatural stuff:• NULL LIGHT is the source of everything supernatural in this evo game. It can be converted into usable energy through photosynthesis and is passed on when the plant is eaten.• There are so far TWO known effects of Null Light ingestion: Generation/Access to pocket dimenstions and The physical manifestation of consciousness (rudimentary as it may be) as ectoplasma. Pocket dimensions are generally corossive for biological matter in them. Ectoplasma is a white, gooey substance slightly lighter than water which flows freely in conscious beings and quickly decomposes into Null Light when no longer in a living organism. Ectoplasm is the material side of the consciousness coin.• Most evos utilize these strange abilities. Utilize them and evolve their use as you evolve your creatures!• DON’T make up unrelated magic powers. The idea of the game is to evolve supernatural abilities, not invent new ones without evolution. If you do add supernatural stuff out of nowhere, your evo will not be counted.

>>4176902>>4176904And lastly, have two example evos to show how easy the template is to use, one mundane, one using null light stuff. The Herbogarrissim relocates osme of its tentacles to its underside to better move when out of water. The black Saggath
>>4176902Some Saggath, having access to a wealth of prey and thus a wealth of ectoplasm, make its expulsion their main mode of propulsion, traveling on constantly ejected ectoplasm like on a cloud. To sustain this, they must constantly be eating tons of Imash.
>>4176902Because Synapse Grass tends to give a nasty electric shock to anything that tries to eat it, Land Irrisim have evolved a metallic lining in their tube feet so as to ground themselves and reroute the electric shock they receive. This does come with a disadvantage though, as due to static electricity they themselves often end up accidentally shocking themselves, though not as strongly as grass would.
>>4176901With it's increased size and thus increased brainpower, the Frantic Imash has discovered the ability to feel. Specifically, to feel fear. As it's ectoplasm responds to it's mental state(or whatever passes for a mental state in the tiny thing it calls a brain), it is recolored a bright orange(not that you can actually see what color it is, it's dark as shit down there) and obtains a peculiar property: those who make contact with it are themselves enveloped with fear, opting to retreat rather than continue pursuing the delicious Imash. Additionally, the Frantic Imash develops a simple membrane on it's front, used to detect vibrations set off by predators.
>>4176902Some Irrisims evolve a crude notochord as well as a pair of front appendages which are attached to this spine. This allows the animal to get about quicker by draging itself across the ocean floor to the nearest detritus.
>>4176901Some Imashes evolve a quicker way to get about. By evolving more muscle mass in its tentacles it manages to slightly shift the location of its mass. This allows the creature to speedily run about on the sea floor. This organism is called the Imatipto.
>>4176902There might be beings on Thadoz driven by several emotion, such as fear, anger or hunger, due to their evolved neural networks. The Hsmyx however is only driven by a single impulse: to Consume. Some Hsmyx evolve multiple sets of vents. This allows for a more efficient release of excess heat and pressure. Sure, It also means that the metabolism is less efficient as more nutrients manage to escape through the vents before being captured by the Hsmyx. But in return it offers to main advantages: It allows for large amounts of rock and organic matter to be processed by the organism. It also allows for the Hsmyx to get much larger without an increased risk of exploding on itself (heightening the size bar before the Hsmyx explodes.)>Geography: Deep ocean
>>4177045The Irrinoct evolves a matching set of posterior appendages. This allows it to walk along the sea floor, in some cases crudely swim and also to bury itself in the sand on the sea floor with only its eye showing.
also, here's a link to the evo discord server where you can ask me technical stuff: https://discord.gg/Q2uhfSY
>>4177049The Imatipto evolves a pair of null-light sensitive organs covered by a chitinous lense. This allows it to make out places with abundant null-light and thus where it would be able to find the most Thurav. Due to the simplicity of the organs, not much else can be made out with the "eyes" at the moment.
>>4176901>>4176902Upon the beaches of the bay of flesh lay mounds of bloated meat. Save the crashing of the waves, the only sound there is that of chewing teeth and flesh hitting flesh as these creatures feed on gurosites and Thyrav to the breaking point. This is the autosite. It consumes all it can get in its mouth, hosting a colony of thyrav in its stomach, they reproduce by internal budding from it eating itself on the inside
>>4177144Lore: its actually unknown how big a autosite can grow due to them always perishing due to different reasons like rampant numerous tumorous growths of autosite offspring and gurosites jam packed inside
>>4176902The Blue Hoya Weedshoot is descendant of the Blue Hoya-Weed that has partially adapted for life outside of water. The Weedshoot has developed to key traits that allow it to grow onto dry land. A outer layer that allows it to retain water and a form of lignin that allows it to have a form sturdy enough to survive out of water. This sturdiness also protects it from most herbivores since the lignin renders the plant indigestible.
>>4176902The Blue Pangla-Shrub is a strange plant. Instead of competing with it's fellow shrubs it instead fuse with them to form one massive super colony of algae. To fuel this the rampant growth of the Pangla colony the Panglas have formed a symbiotic relationship with Sweet Mold. The Panglas siphon the arcane sugar from the Mold and send it down to their superior roots to greatly increase the amount of nutrients the roots can absorb. As payment to the mold the Panglas give the mold a portion of the gathered nutrients.
>>4177134The imatipto evolves even stronger legs, allowing it to run across the sea floor for short bursts. As the creature has been growing, so too has its neural network. With this increased conciousness has come increased abilities. The organism has therefore become able to create wormhole pockets, helping it to escape from predators such as the Saggeth or Black Saggeth
>>4176902The Imash Stalker is a predator that haunts the seas surrounding the ice caps. Instead of shedding it's specters it instead builds them up as a protective coating that shields it from many hazards. To substance it's ectoplasm intensive coating it's has developed a proboscis that it injects into other creatures to suck out their stored ectoplasm. To protect it self while resting the stalker hides on the ice caps that dominant it's hunting grounds.

>>4177351alright, off to bed now. See you guys tomorrow, keep evolving!
>>4177116Some Irrinocts evolve a strange mutation, their null-light sensitive organ somehow reversing its function. Instead of taking in null-light, the organ uses null light stored within the organism to quickly create "bright" flashes of null light. However, as its predators are mostly blind to both kinds of light, this flash serves a purpose other than to blind. The intense flash of null-light functions much as blowing air at a candle distrupting ectoplasm in front of the Irrinoct. This momentarily leaves the saggeth species without propulsion until they are able to create enough to once again start moving. This creates a window of opportunity for the Irrinoct to burrow into the sand or make a run for it.As this flashing is very energy intense, it can only be used between long periods of recharging, the speed of which in part being determined by how well fed the Irrinoct is. Also, it evolves a dope ass hue that is less reflective of null light.
>>4177112The Hsmyx' intense caloric requirements allow it to begin sifting the bottom of the sea floor for nutrients, more aggressively shoveling in raw matter to be processed.
>>4176902the synapses that congregate in large areas begin to develop crystalline masses on their forms. It is only once these masses appear that a sort of critical mass occurs, and spontaneous generation of ectoplasm can be observed. Nothing more than erratic and momentary tethers of negatively charged material, it appears and fades before there is any practical use.
>>4177437Charging it's null light capacitors requires quite a lot of nutrients; and at the same time, those Saggeths it flashes at tend to be stunned for quite a long while, what with their primary method of propulsion being gone... Surely it would be rather practical to just take a bite of the downed predator then and there. The Jaw Irrinoct now eat the Saggeth they stun, using eight muscular jaws to rip the unlucky hunter apart. The Saggeths only comprise a small portion of the creature's diet, though, and most nutrients still come from carrion, which is much easier to eat with a jaw as well.
>>4177258The Imarun's beak becomes much bigger and stronger, allowing it to cut off the leaves of hoya weeds for food.
>>4177187The Windleaf has developed a method of reproducing that allows it to grow inland away from the water. By using pollen producing bulbs the Windleaf is able to take advantage to wind to receive the genetic material it needs without the need for water as medium. It has also developed seeds that are light enough that they are also spread by the wind.
>>4177523God this guy looks so silly. It's beak looks like silly little legs.
The Hoya Pig Bloth is a territorial pack hunter that lives among the Hoya shrubs. Typically the alpha of a group of Pig Bloths will live atop the tallest Hoya in it's territory. To better facilitate there more carnivores life style they have developed elongated jaws and necks, to better bite their prey, and bulbous spots of null-light sensitive skin.
Phylogenic charts ahoy!
>>4177359>mundane event - lovally positiveOver the millenia, as the atmosphere of SII-2453-0 continued to be refined by the organisms living on it, larger plants began to sprout up and form vast ecosystems, sometimes even visible from space. One such ecosystem are the immense Clinging Thyrius mats developing around the Obsidian pillars. They offer an immense amount of plant matter for the many herbivores on the planet, most of which are either unbothered by,or reasonably well defended against carnivores. Thus, the Thyrius mats offer immense growth for herbivores and plants alike. However, with the Blue Pangla-Shrubs forming a symbiosis with green mold, the production of arcane sugar on the obsidian pillars has skyrocketed, and the sweet and deadly nectar seeps into the water and the Thyrius that dwell on it. Arcane Sugar, that divious substance which possesses microportals on the molecular level and thus corrodes from the inside whatever consumes it, is thus a common and early death for herbivores around the obsidian pillars, their numerous corpses sinking down into the unholy depth of the sea, forming vast cemetaries on the ocean ground and leaving nothing but their souls behind which, trapped under the canopy of Thyrius leafs, disipate into null light and are then absorbed by those very leafs.Effects: New ecosystems: >Thyrius matand>Windleaf savannhaScavangers and detrivores on and under the Thyrius Mat and on the obsidian pillars may now grow up to 4 times their size in a single evolution.Herbivores can now find enough food on land for a terrestrial lifestyle without moving in-land to grasland. Also Carnivores of any kind may grow up to 3 times their size on Flesh, because of course that would be a thing.
>>4176909As Saggaths mature, they will pair; Both Saggaths expell more ectoplasm than one, but less than two. In turn they become linked by the material, primitive thoughts exchanged, bleeding into a tenuous unity of awareness that overwhelms the individuality of the two.Observations of three or more occurs but appears unstable, due to the feeding habits and requirements of the Saggath; more than two have a hard time synchronizing unity of motion. The mind is too crude.
>>4176901The Brain Imash uses its prodigious awareness to create excess ectoplasm. This is not new, but what is new is a rudimentary control. Ectoplasm tendrils can be extended through portals at no risk to the Imash.
>>4176901Gurocites begin a new phase of existence. Unable to survive outside the bay of flesh, at least on their own, they adapt.Host organisms allow a Gurocite to EXIST, and EXPERIENCE. For now, the lifecycle of an infected organism is simply to live out the mostly normal existence it has, before returning to the bay of flesh and turning inside out to spawn more Gurocites, with slight...differences. Little gifts from their host species. Any Gurocite that does not return to the bay before their life cycle is over, spawns too far away from the bay, and their spawn are doomed.
hey, sorry to be annoying but i just joined in. Do we have to speicify where the species we create lives? And how are generations calculated?
>>4178892Welcome!generations are calculated by first in thread. So if you are evolving something from here >>4176902it is gen 1 and if you are evolving something already being evolved it's that gen + 1. This is just for me to do phylogenic charts. you don't have to do it.>Do we have to speicify where the species we create livesA general habitat would be nice. It is for example important to know if it lives in the water or on land. It's enough to just say "in the ocean" or "on the ocean floor" or whatever. But to say where exactly on the world map is optional, it's up to you.
>>4178892Yes you need to specify where they live. The generation of a creature is one higher then the creature it evolved from.
Thanks for the help! This thread seems very interesting, I hope I'll be able to join but i will surely stay to see what crazy creatrures you guys make and how the planet will evolve

>>4176989The Frantic Imash's body becomes more and more aerodynamic, so as to facilitate a faster escape from predators. It's primitive "ears" turn into entire tunnels, now used not only to hear but to siphon in water as well. And finally, it has once again revolutionized the concept of feeling; this time, by learning how to feel pain. Lots of pain, to keep it's sense of fear justified and thus more potent.
>>4178809The mind is too crude; their existence too weak. The Jawed Irrinoct >>4177512 comes to adapt into the role of a predator, specializing in the saggeth species - the Sarglath in particular, due to its inherent weakness to the Irrinocts null-light flashes leaving it two confused and defenceless worms. The Irrinocts appendages become flipper-like allowing it to swim about the ocean with more ease. Here it searches. Here it hunts.
>>4176902The Thramash has gained a much more direct form of symbiosis with it's Thralrav colony. The colony now lives in the Mash's skin providing it with the energy it gains from light and null-light. To better facilitate the Thralrav's photosynthesis the Thramash has migrated to the surface of the ocean where it feeds on the the Thyruiuses.
>>4176902The Anitisite is a Gurosite that has evolved to eat its kin Gurosites >>4178828 . When the antisite has infected a host it feeds on the host until it has penetrated the creature's outside and grown large enough to feed on its primary source of sustenance - other Gurocities. This way the anticite forms something resembling (or at least closer to) symbiotic relationship with its host. The only payment being nurishment when young or in need, and the chance to infect their hosts offspring as well, of course.
>>4177258Other Imaruns evolve a mouth with several calcified teeth more adapted to not get in the way as they run, serving to adapt towards speed at the cost of efficiency in feeding.
>>4177437Some Irrinocts stick to the role of the scavanger, instead adapting more to hiding from this cruel cruel world. A mutation occurs, giving the creature a pair of eyes similar in nature to the one that eventually evolved into a flash-null-light. This allows it to keep a better look out as it hides in the sand.
>>4177112Some of the Hsmyx's tentacles become large and trunk-like, allowing it a degree of mobility not enjoyed by most of it's peers. Now capable of relatively fast walking, the creature shoves everything in it's path into it's gaping maw.
>>4177523The Long Beaked Imarun evolves a membrane between its tentacles, allowing it to become a master of the seas. Swimming is also a thing. It starts to migrate to the shallow seas and coasts, where it can find Hoya plants
>>4177598The Windleaf Hoya Pig is a Pig that has adapted for life in the Savannah. It's tough membrane now envelopes its entire body protecting it from desiccation, Its bones are reinforced with iron, and it has moved its null-light sensitive skin to its head, to better spot Herbogarrissims. The Windleaf Hoya Pig lives inside burrows it makes in Windleafs. It’s diet mainly consist of Windleaf seeds and its lesser cousins.
>>4179035Hsmyx take full advantage of the carrion rich sea floor around the great obelisks. Fueled by what amounts to near unlimited food, the population explodes in number, size, and density around the area. The larger Hsmyx have enough intelligence to "play" with their twin portals, akin to blowing spit bubbles. It seems to serve nearly no behavior other than a risk to explode. The most successful of these individuals can temporarily shunt all expelled thermal energy and waste into a thermal lance to cut up chunks of the carrion matting, or other materials.
>>4179085Simple eyespots allow the Hsmyx to see red-frequency light. It's primary used for finding mates, and since Hsmyx are basically the only sources of red-frequency light down in the abyss, it's very successful at that. The population practically explodes overnight.
The Hoya ants are distant descendants of the Hoya pig Bloth, which after generations of females growing larger and males not being able to keep up, developed a sexual dimorphism, with the females becoming leaders of packs and breeders, and the males becoming the gatherers and defenders of the pack. They have started to move less, and stay in smaller but more tightly patrolled areas of their jungles

>>4179177the art is perfectly fine, as long as there is no anti aliasing, I'm happy. here are a few things for the future though: 1. link the evo you are evoing off of and 2. make smaller evo jumps. in one evo you: got rid of two pairs of legs, introduced dimorphism, gave the females completely new organs and a new social structure. Doing no more than about half of that would normally be prefered. That way, evolution happens gradually and everybody has the opportunity to steer it into different directions. This evo is perfectly legal though. Welcome aboard.

posting the event early to encourage some more posting.Slow and almost unnoticable changes in the planet's distribution of warm currents, in large part due to the influx of Hysmx burning organic and inorganic matter alike, lead to a slight decrease in pole ice. This does little to change the ice cap's shores, but it does take a few yards off its highest peaks. And there, on both poles, structures emerge, strange structures of a kind that any outside observer onto SII-2453-0 would have difficulties to even describe. What can be said most certainly about them is that in many relevant ways, they are shaped like a pyramid. What can also be said however, is that in many very disturbing ways, they are not. For while four lines do indeed go to a point from a square base, this is only half the story. The euclidian explanation of the pyramid, and of the warped spikes surrounding them, ignores the way corners do not behave as one would expect them to when turning them, how angles seemingly impossibly extend over 360 degrees, how one could walk through an entrance and end up not on its other side, but compeltely removed from it. The non-eucledian space in the pyramids is such that any two locations there may be connected no matter their apparent distance, as a line ceases to be the shortest distance between two points. And sometimes, most curiously, a creature may crawl through a crack in the pyramid at the north pole, only to emerge in that of the south pole..>T̷̡̗̻̰͖̀̑͐͊Ḣ̴̡̡̛͇̗̳͇̦̮̔̃̀̄̾̄̋̎͆͠E̸̻̥̺͖̘͉̯̖̮͈̰̣͂͒̽R̵̗̝͇̙̯̗̦͓͂͂̄̑̾̇̆͑̄̋͝͝E̴̢̢̖̪͚͙̥͔̜̦͗͑ͅ ̴̧̨̢̥̹̜̹͖̞̌̾̉̈̂͊̓̓̋͗̎I̸͕̮̻̹͍̬̰̬̯̞͈̻͕͖͂̍̇́̈́̔͑̈́͗̚Ṡ̷̠̃̌̈́͛̈̀̕͝ ̵͔̣̤̟̹̂͌̌O̴̥̖̬̊͑͌͝ͅŅ̴̝̪͔̙̹̯̹͔͍́̊̿̂͠Ļ̵̮̮͕͕̼͚̯̖͈̍̂̽͋̇̏͐͆͆͗͆͊̆̚͜Y̶̡̨̧̨̹̭̝̫̖͚͖̖͚͕̽̒̀̂̌̈̀̿͜ ̶̻̞̤̒̽Ỡ̵̧̨̡̖̱̝̰͚̪̘͊̒̍̂̌̒̈́̋̋̚͘̕͝Ń̵͍͓͓̣̭̦̩̞̤̼͉͔̝͓̉͊̂̃̇͗̎͋͐̑͠͝ͅÉ̷͔̜͆̓͒̇̇̐͊̆̎̕̕͝ ̶̦̝͖̳̮̀P̶̧̢̭͓̠͙̞̗̤͙̞̦̮̰̄Y̵̛̗͑́͌̽͐̒͗͠͠R̷̖̯̦̱̯͋̔̔́͐̽̔̾̈́͂͂́͘̕̕Å̵̛̛̯̙̘͌͐̂̾͑̽̊̀̒̽̚M̸̨̙̩͚̭̯̣͎͕̀̐̀̇́̚͜͝I̸̧̧̥͙̋̈́̉̈́̔̌̀͌̕͜͝ͅͅD̶̮̼̪̹̰̯̩͒͒͂̎̓͌̌̆̐͛́̑T̷̡̗̻̰͖̀̑͐͊he material it is made of, a porouse, red stone, eminates light, null light and photon light alike. Animals which incorporate pyramid stones into them can export this peculiarity. Through the pyramid, travel from one pole to the other is possible.
>>4176902>>4181137On this wretched planet, shrouded eternally in darkness, the glistening light of the pyramid was a massive boon to everything depending on light, be it for sight or for sustenance. The plants were, of course, the first to capitalize on the new biome. The Synapses have started to migrate northward, growing fatter and simpler in shape to minimize heat loss. By the time they've reached their target, they could hardly be confused for their ancestors.
>>4179061The Imaswim has found a new mode of travel to take advantage of, flight. By migrating there tentacles to it's side it is able to attain a form of flight by taking advantage of the upwards draft created by the vacuum of it's portal. The Imafly now often flies out of the sea to feed on the nutritious seed bulbs of the Windleafs.
>>4179160>>4179155It is a common occurrence for two Hoya Ants to situate the exits of their portal-stomaches way too close to each other, and end up accidentally sharing each other's food. They have started to catch on to such events, and developed large neural clumps in their stomach region. By rubbing their heads together, two Hoya Ants can engage in "communication", using a series of tactile inputs to exchange the positional data of their portals, which they then send to their nerve clumps in order to "synchronize" their portals and share their stomach. Sometimes, a whole hive may only have one portal-stomach between them all!
>>4181172Some Hoya ants streamline the process and situate their portal stomach right at their secondary brain used to control it.
>>4177233>>4176902>>4176901Gaze upon the Syrup Bulb. They are symbioutes of the blue pangla, growing on their trunks. It's roots are directly burried in their bark and flesh. Inside tthe bulb they host a lump of sweetmold. The bulb gains extra aracane sugar from the colony and in echange it receives a share of the nutrition from the Pangla shrub. To put it simply, the bulb is the middle man in this relationship, collecting and receiving the majority of nutrition and managing the mold by deciding how much of a share it gets and how much the Pangla receives.
>>4177334>>4181137The Stalkers were the first to witness the rise of The Pyramid, they were first to drag themselves through it's warped halls, and they were first to receive it's gifts. The chunk of The Pyramid implanted in the stalker's body allows to warp and manipulate it's ectoplasma shell in ways unnatural. It use the appendages generated through this manipulation to hunt down it's lesser kin and any who dare approach The Pyramid.
>>4181312The flesh of the Twisted Stalker weaves around it's pyramid core, shaping the material into rigid, elongated screws, brutally gouged from the body and put to use supporting it's limbs, muscle of pure thought and bone of pure mathematics gifting it with unparalleled agility and strength. This power comes at a cost however: the bones are the core, the core is the bones, the bones are the bones and the core is the core, and shattering one will shatter all others.
>>4176932Some Irrisim have begun to cannibalize their own brethren due to how much more nutrients they provide compared to grass, to facilitate this they've greatly elongated some of their tube feet, turning them into metal-laced whips. A single Cannibal Irrisim can have between 2 and 8 of these whips. Also, both this Irrisim and >>4176932 are very lousy shots with their null-light laser, as hundreds of generations of relative peace have selected for individuals who did not spend energy on upkeeping their laser.
>>4181240After the ants developed a common stomach, a separate caste of males was created to fulfill only the purpose of gathering food for the hive, while the “basic” males now served the role of guards for the egg-laying matriarchs and the gatherers.
>>4176932no pressure from predators for years upon years with has allowed the most longest lived most successful eaters to reproduce more before they died, it has tube feet around its mouth so it has less need for wasting energy lifting its head and guiding its mouth with its bigger sharper beak and moving its gigantic bulk comparably to its ancestor
>>4176902The Hoya Shrub has developed a thin coating on its algae mass that prevents desiccation. This allows the shrub to grow onto land. The Hoya's roots now grow much further horizontally, due to the difficulty it has growing down through the rock that currently makes up the coastline. The Hoya also makes far more buds, now with a protective cap, thanks to an increased pollen production.

>>4176902The pyramid bloths evolved from pillar bloths that left their rocky plains in search of new food sources after their original habitats grew overpopulated by predators and other, more evolved, herbivores. After finding the pyramid in the ice caps, the area’s strange physics and abundance of moss facilitated the development of additional mouths, used to reduce the time required to harvest food and make them less vulnerable to the stalkers’ assaults. Unfortunately they are relatively slow anyway.
>>4181389The males become even smaller, and their mouths seal over as they now receive sustenance directly through their stomach portal. Their beaks twist, now used only to fight, and to anchor oneself to the female's eggsac. The gonads now take up 30% of the male's total body mass, as well.At the same time, the gatherer class completely separates from the males, now being a separate, infertile morph.

>>4178821Brain Imash that overspecialize in ectoplasm mobility eventually offshoot into ectoeels, becoming dependent on ectoplasm based movement in the form of a massive flagellum. They tend to simply be faster than other organisms on the planet, and do not use their ability to create pocket dimensions very often, instead using the portal as a sort of internal croup for digesting their prey. The eels prefer to stalk coastal waters, and can even be seen periodically writing on the beaches before retreating into the ocean once more.
>>4179035Some Hsmyx take advantage of the >>4178737deadly arcane sugar. The high energy sugar fuels explosive growth for this new subspecies, and at the same time it's exotic makeup creates violent interaction with the Binary portal system that is the core of any Hsmyx. Each miniportal dissolves and its energy into the spin of the portal, ramping up the speed incredibly. By the time an Elder Hsmyx dies of explosion, its feeding portal causes tremors in the nearby water.Complex cooling and vent tubes prevent premature detonation. While found amongst other conventional Hsmyx, they seem to find the creature hyperactive and irritating.
>>4178809The Sarglath develop a symbiosis with a simple, colonial bacteria species. This species would normally be a completely forgettable microbe and fade into the background along with many other microorganisms, if not for one peculiar property: the ability to reflect null light. By covering most of it's ectoplasmic mass with a bacterial film, the Sarglath is able to both resist the Irrinoct's blasts and drastically increase the "shelf life" of it's ectoplasm.Additionally, a small fin has begun to grow on each Sarglath's back; quite useful for maneuvering.

>>4176902The Stilters got pretty tall, which meant they couldn't really reach their food with their stubby little beaks anymore, which meant only those with longer necks and teeth could actually eat and thus live on to reproduce.

They migrate from the ocean floor, using the bodies of the recently deceased to house their spawn, before heading to the surface to feed on the electromagnetic fields produced by the Thyrius Clingers. To facilitate this more mobile nature, its flagella become longer and beginnings of fins form between its spikes.
>>4177504The ectoplasmic activity of the synapses has increased dramatically, the most significant enabler of this has been the arms race between it, and it's predator;>>4181395The grass feels...some component of fear, a desire to escape. >>4181312Thanks to the abundant number of creatures migrating to the caps the Stalkers now have access to a resource they have lacked for too long, flesh. With their newfound wealth of nutrients, the Stalkers have been able to fuel the growth of new brains in their vestigial tentacles, granting the stalker a heighten form of consciousness. Thus, greatly increasing the strength and production of the Stalker’s ectoplasm. To better feed on the flesh of their victims the Pyramid Stalkers have widen the mouth of their proboscis into a proper jaw.
>>4181340As the Twisted Butcher feels the orgasmic bliss of the pyramid-matter tearing it's nerve cluster to shreds, it's primitive mind is bombarded with arcane knowledge, knowledge it cannot possibly even attempt to comprehend, yet knowledge that shapes it's very body. Ectoplasm is shaped in ways choppy and unnatural, evoking not living tissue yet something unfeeling and mechanical, and pyramid-matter is extruded in ways even less possible than before. And as the red stone screws it's way into it's body, purging flesh standing in it's way, the Butcher feels, on an instinctual level, a sense of altruism: "this pain is a pleasure to be shared."The butchers keep hunting long after their bellies are full and sated. And those who they do not intend to eat are taken on a pilgrimage many kilometers long, their end destination the Pyramid. So much are prey enthralled by the green ectoplasm secreted by the Butcher, that none dare to turn and run away from their fate.
>>4183467Spinetaurs are stilter variants adapted to more mountainous terrain. They eat flesh, to be sure, but seem to ensure the organism they hunt dies from terror. An endurance hunter, they will casually stalk the prey for as long as it takes.
>>4183142The Hsmyx develops calcified scraping apparati to better harvest sugar from the obsidian pillars, keeping them clean, and beautiful. In turn, the sugar eater enjoys higher yields, and have begun to cling to the sides of the pillars, advancing upwards, towards the inversion; some say it is where water meets air, others say it is a boundary between dimensions.
>>4179101Hsmyx develop two large pores above their eyes, cycling water through them in order to cool their superheated cores, as well as "blinking" them for primitive communication. So far the only three "sentences" in their lexicon are "hey bb wanna fuk", "ya sure bb", and "no fuk u".
>>4183332Lured by the amount of dead bodies and other sources of nutrients found within the depths of Thadoz, some Grabby Irrinocts migrate to the Deep Oceans. These Irrinocts diverge from their relatives, evolving organs reminiscent of lungs. It's purpose however, Is mainly not to help in extracting oxygen out of the water, but instead is serves as a protected membrane between the outside world and the organism, allowing for the production of Ectoplasm. This ectoplasm when released infuses the affected temporarily with forgetfulness and inattentiveness, making the Irrinoct less likely to be spotten. Here, occasionally illuminated by the Hsmyx towering around them, they dig down.
>>4183332The population that stays in the regular ocean instead evolves a single jaw. This allows for a more diversified diet and the eating of things larger than their mouth-holes. With this expansion of their possible diet, they start to also spread out to the shallow seas, feeding on Root Species, Hoya-weeds and corpses of Stilters and Garrisims.
>>4183577>>4183570The Gurocytes that could not make it back to the bay of flesh, would always perish as their spawn failed to find suitable grounds to incubate and grow. No longer is this an issue, the world provides in abundance. The great carrion carpet of the depths was ideal; its gore preserved by the depths, yet warmed by the Hsmyx. As soon as the first newborns hatched they immediately found new hosts. Over several generations of interaction, the G2 Gurocytes have emerged as a standard variant in the depths.Their bloated bellies play host to a lesser parody off the Hsmyx's own binary furnace; a crude tube runs to the pouch, and out the tail, allowing the cyte to filter sea water and nibble at carrion or other things of note that occupy it's short life before it either explodes, returns to the carrion carpet as a successful host bearer. Most importantly; their most significant byproduct is a ruddy light. The depths grow brighter.
>>4183053The Hoya ants experience a schism: two variants form. One of those are the the anthill ants who create large (up to 1m high), stable bases either dug in the soil or by chewing up and piecing back together plants and trees. The Matriarchs (now even larger and with a bigger ovipositor) are kept deep inside the dark rooms of the anthill, where their predators will have a harder time catching them. For the purpose of digging up the earth, a new caste has been made: that of the tunneler, whose only purpose is to dig the earth and slash the hive’s enemies when necessary. They have no mouths, only receiving their nutrients from the shared stomach.

>>4177535An off-shoot of the Weedshoot, the Weedgrowth has evolved an additional method of reporduction. It grows hollow flesh-like buds on its leaves. These buds are capable of taking some of the null-light absorbed by the plants and dispersing it as a weak form ectomist. The mist carries the one primal urge that the unthinking buds can generate - desire. An organism will be tempted into eating the buds. However, once the fruit has been consumed it is already to late for the hungry animal. The bud sticks to a relatively acid-free area of the organism's digestive tract and puts down roots. Here it stays. Here it feeds. Here it grows. The story ends with the root-covered animal dying from the growths impartially penetrating tissues and strangling organs. And thus the story of the Weedgrowth begins anew.
>>4183600The Irrinoct in the depths evolve a hornlike bone on its skull. This allows it to also make better use of its head while digging.
>>4183607In the shallows the Irrinoct instead evolves extensions of its skin just over its upper jaw. This skinflapp allows them to sense motions in the water, serving as an emergency warning that something is moving near them, when they're busy doing other things than being on the look out; such as digging or eating. They also evolve claw-like bones on their feet, enabling them to better dig.
>>4183245the hungry irrinoct develops a new strategy for killing sarglath. it hovers over it, flashes it to stun it and goes in for the kill. >>4183231tectonic shifts on SII-2453-0 are supremely slow, but they do happen, and the continental plates have been set in motion millions of years ago, away from the center, by the maw. Over these last few million years, this has born fruit, as plates grind up against each other and lift out of the ground great mountain ranges, making many of the isolated obsidian pillars littering the continents into the peaks of great mountain ranges. Even the 'teeth' of the planet themselves, the gigantic, slanted spikes growing from its equator are compressed and misshapen by the unyielding force of continental drift. What this break of the crust also causes are some of these mountain ranges to break open like a bloated brainmash on the beach, and they explode with the force of a thousand elder Hsmyx, spewing forth lava, burning gras land and sending ashes and sulfur into the atmosphere. Rains of ash become part and parcel to life on SII-2453-0 and the little light that reached it from the stars is blocked out.At the same time, this new coating of ash on the continents leads to an extreme increase in nutrients in the ground, causing a short few hundred millenia to see not rock, but something approaching soil cover the land. The Pangla connects its vascular system into the Sweet Moss and Syrup Bulbs proper, allowing the shrub to transfer much more nutrients to and from the symbiotes. >>4176902The Hsmyx Hunter is a Bloth Hunter that has finally found a niche it excelled at, hunting down the mighty Hsmyxs. The Hunter has adapted its cannons into a single forward-facing cannon that can fire an unstable ball of Arcane Sugar that’ll dissolves any flesh it hits or fizzle out of existence if it misses. To get the massive amount of Arcane Sugar it needs to make it’s projectiles the Hunter keeps Sweet Mold inside it’s Arcane Sugar storage and pumps it full of all the nutrients it needs and rest in spots of high null-light to encourage the production of Arcane Sugar. It’s favored prey are Hsmyxs, with they’re infrared pits and superior speed compared to most Hsmyxs species, making holes into its portal and vent tubes causing a build up inside the Hsmyxs ending in its explosive death and a feast for the Hunter.

>>4176902A divergent evolution of the synapse, losing the ability to generate an electric field in exchange for a slightly larger bulb and a reproductive organ that can release seeds. >>4176902The Sweet Moss is a delicate plant and can’t really survive in the intense conditions brought on by the eruptions. Luckily, they are protected by their Pangla symbiotes, but many Panglas are also dying in these conditions, mainly due to a lack of starlight. To ensure the survival of their symbiotes, and thus their own, some Sweet Moss give not only Arcane Sugar but actual sugar as well. To better facilitate the transfer of nutrients and sugars to and from the two plants, the moss has gained small openings that the Pangla can more easily connect to.
>>4183394The blue coilrav has adopted to flight. Though it is a plant, it cant help but feel that it was once something else. many something elses. The ability to skim the surface of the water, and cross over land expands it's territory; the feeling of light on it's skin, and a drive...to go to the poles. There is not enough mind to do more than obey, for the coilrav is a plant, and barely aware of its world, unable to avoid collision with obstacles. The unexpected abundance of Blue Coilravs slamming into mountains, pillars, and other obstacles may benefit other species.
>>4183499The electrically negative Synapse grass has begun to develop a useful symbiosis with bacteria that feeds off electrically current, in this instance; the frequency of the world. The rich arsenic content of the soil fosters the growth of the bacteria. The plant and bacteria form an anode/ cathode pair, and the giant root network links it all together.Periodically something akin to a spiritual tesla coil will arc from the tall grass, ripping the soul out of nearby herbivores. It usually returns to the body; or at least something will fill it. The grass is not too concerned.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shewanella

Its not uncommon to see a Hsmyx scarred, or infested with parasite; the sheer number of the creatures makes it of little consequence.>>4185413This creature drove a new behavior in the Hsmyx; the ability to hunt; only occasionally; it will consume a Bloth Hunter outright, using long sensing tendrils to shovel the creature into it's maw. >>4176901Unlike they’re mainland cousin the Pigs in the thicket were well protected by the Panglas from the ash and poisonous gas. Unfortunately, for the Panglas to provide this protection it had to develop a hard quartz exterior that prevents the Pigs from accessing the life-giving food and water contain within. The Thicket Pig Screamer has developed a way to combat this. The Pig has developed a primitive larynx from a mutated second internal gill. This larynx allows the Pig to scream at just the right frequency to shatter quartz and dig into the algae head. The Thicket Pig Screamers now live inside of burrows inside the Panglas due to the dangers they face outside the Panglas protective dome.

Many Thramashs die horrific, painful deaths due to improper gene placement, but a select few manage to snag a useful organ, in this case a dimension sensitive skin spot from the Lurking Imash.

Differentiant them even more from their ancestors is the fact that the flesh devouring ant matriarch is actually well suited for battle, so it’s not uncommon for them to storm into battle alongside their spawn

>>4177535The ash rain was incredibly harsh on the Windleaf, not only was the heavily diminished starlight a problem for the plant but the hot ash caused the lignin in the plants to ignite and burn down the Windleaf. To make it through this event the wind leaf has greatly shrank, it is less then half the size it was before, and its trunk and central stalk are gone. The leaves of the Windleaf are now much thinner and spread out to better catch what little starlight remains. There is almost no trace of lignin left in the plant, partly due to it making it harder to photosynthesizes in the parts of the plant where it is present, mostly due to the fires it causes if it gets too hot. The only trace of lignin left in the plant is in small amounts in the single seed stalk the Windleaf now possess. This seed stalk produces a single seed at a time, that seed is packed with enough nutrients to allow the plant to survive to point where it is big enough to survive.
>>4179078To survive the acid rain the Hoya pig has gained two adaptions. The first is a small filtration system in it's internal gills, this system filters out acid and sends out two nostrils on the head. The second adaptions is the keratin of a interesting protein know by most beings as keratin. The Pig extrudes this keratin on top of itself and uses it to keep acid repellent oils it also extrudes, on top of it.
>>4176902Due to the ash blocking out the starlight the Clinging Thyruiuses has had to develop a new form of sugar production, electrosynthesis. Like photosynthesis, electrosynthesis use electricity to create a simple sugar to fuel the plant. To fuel this process the Thyruius has several chambers of oxygen and hydrogen on its underside. When null-light is converted into electricity on its underside it causes the hydrogen and oxygen to fuse into water and release some of their electrons as electricity, thus fueling it's electrosynthesis.
Event END. The skies over SII-2453-0 have normalized, and left a slew of extinct organisms behind. Everything on the phylo charts marked with an X is extinct and can no longer be evolved. There are some pretty harsh consequences to some key organisms dying out which I will be addressing at a later date. for now, phylo charts.

>>4176902Apologies for getting through the door late, but I had this in the works that I hadn't been able to post for several hours. With the decreased available light to conduct photosynthesis, many Thyrius begin to die off in droves. Largely in part because of their nature in spurning the once unnecessary null-light. A small subset of the species however is able to evolve a way to utilize its null-light reflective underleaves to great effect. This Thyrius has had its reproductive leaf-buds become something more resembling a seed. With a large bulbous shell that is highly absorbent of null-light, these pods act as a food storage for a growing Thyrius, collecting a chunk of the null-light being reflected back down from the canopy. Once the Thyrius is ready to release its seeds, the pods break off and stretch out, forming rudimentary sails to help the pods drift from the edges of the "forest". As the Thryius begins to grow its own leaves and taproot, the shells eventually break off to let the plant grow to maturity.

The deep, too, warms, and what is combustible becomes combustible more so, and what reproduces fast reproduces faster still. The Flesh, above all, spreads in the heat, festers as fast as it rots and as a tumor spreads its tendrils further in land, covering the bay almost completely with pulsating Flesh.Effects:New biome: >Hoya forestsWarmth:The temperature is risingNext part of the event will not hit until at least tomorrow, so I don't suggest waiting to evo till all 4 parts are done.

>>4185450The Feeling Imash goes all in with sensory organs: it's got chemically sensitive hairs growing out of it's lungs AND it's ears have grown larger and more sophisticated. The most prominent breakthrough, however, is the newfound tendency to travel in pairs: turns out when travelling with a friend, the likelihood of being consumed by a predator is reduced by roughly 50%, and the likelihood of having a potential breeding partner nearby is increased by roughly 100%. There is no kinship between the Imashes though, yet.
>>4183503In the early days of a stalkers life it is fairly defenseless on land due to the fact it can't move well on land without a stone, which it has to find. To rectify this the stalkers have gained three new adaptations. They have gained a set of sturdy legs that allow them to move at a steady pass even without their ectoplasmic limbs. To allow them to fuel this energy intensive movement the stalker has grown a set of lungs capable of breathing air, these were adapted from a set of mutated throats. They have also fused they're sub-brains into a single sub-brain on a spine filled neck.

To ensure proper digestion, a significant chunk of tissue it probably didn't need anyway is replaced with a grinder.Additionally, it now carries it's young in small ectoplasmic chambers until they are old enough to be fitted with a Stone of their own, so that the time they spend in their pitiful, fully biological state on their own is minimized.

A layer of symbiotic bacteria creates wing shaped nets that contain ectoplasm, allowing for a slower bleed off of the material. The organism follows an invisible line only they can detect, flying endlessly from one pole to another in an endless migration of half circles around the planet. There is no mind to understand this behavior, and all utility is lost on them, their instincts guide them through the impossible geometry of the pyramids in an eldritch dance, forever pointing out something to an audience that does not exist.
>>4185774At a certain threshold, a synapse field will grow a spire or tower. It is simply one, and only one synapse plant elevated above all others, strictly territorial, and existing within no more than 100 meters of the next of it's ilk.Unusual manifestations of electrically charged ectoplasm can be seen dancing around the tower, playing in the grass fields, and otherwise.Foreign entities who consume the grass run the risk of having their ectoplasm stripped from their body unto death, and their flesh fed to the grass.Stay off the lawn.
>>4183176The Leathery Sarglath deal with those pesky Irrinocts dissolving their ectoplasm protection film with acid in a very simple way - they simply close their mouth and face-tank the acid. For the first dozen generations or so, this led to grievous chemical burns of the whole body, but now, with their thick hide protecting them, it still leads to grievous chemical burns - they just don't give a shit about that anymore, as the acid can't actually melt far enough to reach their innards. They can also grow twice as big as before due to the warmth of the surrounding seas speeding up their metabolism.
>>4183176The Brave Sarglath has adapted to prey on Feeling and Frantic Imashes, and to this end it has developed a secondary nervous system, it's cognitive pathways intermixed with null light-reflective bacteria. When hit by one of it's prey's fear-inducing afterimages, the system takes the brunt of the psychological attack, leaving the primary brain unaffected and ready to continue pursuit.
>>4186083The female Ant's digestive system turns into a sort of eversible, placenta-like structure, siphoning nutrients from the Flesh itself. This provides the females with a constant, abundant and highly nutritious source of food, but has the unfortunate downside of making their stomach incompatible with the communal portal storage; thus, the gatherers and males are left alone in their pursuit of food.On the note of males, they've degenerated even further - now nothing more than a gonadsack on legs. All castes develop sails between their ribs as a way to vent off the excess heat produced by the flesh around them.

Updating Phylo Trees (but not gonna update event yet)
the feeling imash gains a gender split: the male gains bigger horns and the female gains an ovary. nobody knows exactly how sexual reproduction works in them and no one wants to know
>>4189199By minimizing the amount of flesh they have, the Spinetaurs have managed to minimize the energy they need to keep themselves alive. That isn't to say that they now have to hunt less though; with most of their articulation coming from ectoplasm, they have to be on the prowl almost constantly to maintain their mobility - it's just that now they simply leave the prey lobotomized and comatose instead of consuming it most of the time.
>>4186583The Hairy Hoya Pig is a Hoya pig that has better adapted for a hunter lifestyle. Their eyespots have become forward facing to better spot prey, they have become more aerodynamic to allow faster movement, and have transformed their front feet into a pair of fearsome claws. They have also restructured their head, they now possess a protective cover over they’re mouth, their nostrils have moved onto to the cover, and their horn has grown larger.
>>4176902While the Brain Imash's portal's coordinates in real space are always set in stone and advantageous to it's owner, it's coordinates in the pocket dimension are more or less random. And sometimes, "random" means that a shitload of free food keeps falling out of it. It's a fucking feast down there. Obviously Brain Imashes that preserve the access to this gratuitous supply for generations do much better than those who have to hunt for food, so two adaptations come about: firstly, the Cornucopia Imashes now pass on information from parent to child, as their egg cells are now intermixed with a significant portion of the brain tissue, containing data detailing the food portal's pocket dimension coordinates. And secondly, when a Cornucopia Imash DOESN'T have access to a food portal, it will continuously randomize it's portal's pocket dimension coordinates(within limit, of course) until the sensitive olfactory hairs on the tips of it's tentacles detect a waft of delicious Hoya coming out of it's portal. The Imash dedicates up to 50% of it's brain to "scanning" the pocket dimension at any given time, and is thus capable of surveying up to 42 possible coordinate sets per second. This does come at a cost however: with so much of it's brain permanently occupied, the Cornucopia Imash is even dumber than it's ancestors.
>>4189397>>4183671On an unrelated side note, Hoya Ant legions have been hit with a mysterious affliction: sometimes, their communal stomach will suddenly be emptied with no prior warning. This causes a lot of legions to die of starvation, despite working as diligently as ever.
>>4181151natural selection strikes again killing the plants that waste there biomass and energy at growing useless blades that only bleeds it of resources, and quite often gets it killed when feed upon,so the blade shrinks to nearing a vestigial state at around 2cm with little variation, the blade mostly being there as a medium of gas exchange.the biggest changes is the bulbs growing huge and much deeper due to nullights penetrative power the bulb has no problem surviving underground or at extreme sizes

Secondly, it's jettisoned brains gain basic autonomy, enough to keep moving for 15 minutes or so. And thirdly, it has taken a penchant to hanging around shores, where it is quite content luring terrestrial wannabe predators to their untimely demise.Since it's brains are pretty expensive to maintain, it usually eats the lure along with it's catch, so that no energy goes wasted.

>>4183716One day, a Hoya Ant ate a Weedgrowth seed. It then proceeded to walk over to the Flesh fields and die. The Weedgrowth seed, going from it's comfortable meaty corpse to a no less comfortable meatground, realized that living on the meatground is so much better than living on regular old ground, and soon, the Flesh had an infestation of content, well-fed Weedgrowths.
>>4185048With violence being common, the Punching Irrinoct's skin becomes much thicker and more leathery to bear blows, with the males even going as far as moving their flasher organ to the top of their skull for protection, which makes it hard to use when aboveground but isn't too detrimental when burrowed. As their skin is now less permeable, they develop small breathing orifices on their tails, linked to an internal chamber repurposed from a part of their long intestine that has for generations been largely unused.

>>4178999The toothed Imarun evolves stronger legs, which allows it to take the first steps onto land. They now make their homes in the Grasslands and Hoya forests, near lakes rivers and other bodies of water. With their increase in size has some an increase in intelligence. This intellect, in combination with instinctual emotions, has resulted it being able to create small spining pocket dimensions in their foretentacles. The spinning dimensions turn what it touches into a slurry, partly ripped to shreds on a molecular level. Turns out that this is a useful cutting tool. This Imarun, can be found cutting and feeding on the >>4186422 Windleaf grass & >>4189570 Windlead tumblegrass in the grasslands and the >>4181572 Hoya Shrub in the forest; only to scurry over to the nearest body of water when they've eaten their fill.
>>4179061An off-shoot of the Imaswim, the Imafall, has evolved a novel way of "flying". While they still live and reproduce in the oceans, they hunt in the sky and along the coasts of the north and south poles. The Imafall "flies" by creating worm holes above it in a rapid pace to get high up. It then uses portals similar to pictured in order to gain horizontal speed. >>4189071With the rise of the Womb and several species coming to live in their turf, the ants suddenly get extremely protective of their territory, and start to almost worship the Womb, ripping off “basic” flesh and throwing it on the Womb to feed it and even throwing it their dead bodies and some still alive males. Now that the males are only useful in extreme numbers though, the Hive needs some more elite defense to complement the hordes of males and the heavy slaves and tunnelers: thus, the soldier breed is born (and unlike the slave and tunneler, it’s a gendered male, so it can breed with the matriarch). Numerous hives also seem to merge and migrate to the Womb, forming gigantic hives with multiple matriarchs

>>4186422The Flowering Windleaf is a Gras that has refined it's seed creation process. Now it use a "flower" to spread and gather pollen. Once the "flower" has received enough pollen it transforms into a mass of seeds. Each seed is coated in a nutrient rich flesh like substance called a pericarp. This pericarp gives the seeds a additional boast to start their growth.
>>4189071The Big Ant has foregone creating a specialized soldier caste in favor of just becoming Really Fucking Big. Not just compared to the other ants, but in comparison to literally every other animal. The female is basically a damn schoolbus filled with tiny ant schoolchildren waiting to go to ant school. That's how big she is. She has also figured out a way to share her food with the rest of the clan: she simply floods the communal stomach with her own perfectly edible blood. Not the most elegant of solutions, but it works. She DID have to increase her placental nutrient intake twofold to compensate though.

We are not alone (3/4)COMFORT is kindAnd Comfort gives gifts. A thousand thousand small buds of the womb, faxsimiles of the great whole, tumor wombs upon the mother womb, burst, their incubations ending in unison.Too small for those with eyes to see, a new organism spreads into the world, reminiscent of the parasitic Gurosites. They field great swarms which form a red mist when close together, and latch on to animal and plant alike, as long as ectoplasm eminates from them. These are the Psychofages. The psychophages burry deep into organisms that are conscious or play with consiciousness enough to build out ectoplasma, and graft their flesh to its victim's. Two metabolistic cycles then begin, an individual one and one communal. The individual one consists in the Psychophage hijaking cells around itself to grow unto the organism as a tumor, growing itself into a new womb unto its victim, for its young to burst forth as it itself burst from that holy Flesh. The second metabolism occurs via a portal within the Psychophage's stomachless mouth. With it, the Psychophage sucks out ectoplasm from its victim, throwing it into a pocket dimension it shares with other phages nearby enough, some of the eenergy of which is distributed into all gestating womb-tumors of the swarm. The rest, that soulstuff which is not used but left to anguish in null-space is periodically brought back by aging Psychophages to The Womb itself, injecting it into that pulsating organ, and the overspill causing a constant fog of hunger-filled ectoplasm around it.This is not a punishment. It is a gift. A gift to all of you, to evolve (or not) as you wish.
>>4191227clarification: One Psychophage won't kill most organisms, but in swarms, as they tend to appear, they leave most everything a tumor ridden, soulless husk.

On the poles and Grasslands both, the creature now spreads out. The Nullightened Irrinoct has further specialized in the generation of null light from its surroundings, that which it eats and ectoplasm consumed with it. Due to this, the creature almost constantly glows brightly of null light, and when necessary is able to create immense flashes of null light, disrupting ectoplasm in its surroundings. Wandering the cold wastes, surrounded by ruins too intricate to have been naturally generated, the Irrinoct feeds on the many Coilravs who have died natural deaths, and in some cases uses its null light to flash down Coilravs from the skies >>4185744 >>4188989 .In the Grasslands, the Irrinoct feeds on the dead and plants such as the different windleaf varieties >>4186422 >>4189686 >>4189570 . Occasionally, it can even be found preying on the wounded and the weak, such as the Altas Irrism >>4189621Due to the Nullightened Irrinocts constant release of concentrated Null light, they wipe out or disrupt much of the amounts of ectoplasm that they themselves naturally release. The result of this is that they for all intents and purposes are invisible to the Psychophages >>4191227 , making up ectoplasm voids in the sea of consciousness.
>>4183498losing it horn as its only weight it down it instead has formed a internal muscular cavity that allow its to suck up stuck to the underside or stem/roots of the thyrius.there sacks work like this in its resting position the sack is a big bulbous cavity then anything but to suck stuck to the plant it squeezes the sack into a small and thin shape putting its lips to the plant then releasing the muscle pressure to create a vacuum seal
>>4183176Sarglath continue to adapt, while not visible, their mind has grown stronger, and the use of bacterial nets allows them to enhance usage of ectoplasm.Jet movement is replaced with a giant protofin of contained ectoplasm, allowing retention of higher thought. This greater thought capability allows for the addition of a third synchronized sarglath. The third not only enables greater ectoplasm throughput, but less work for the whole. The hungry organism now prowls a multi level domain, from ocean, into the depths, and even temporarily beaching itself to consume coastal organisms.
>>4191227Garrifests become willing hosts to the Psychophages; their large maws enable them to swallow creatures whole, the phages quickly rendering struggles a non issue. Meanwhile the living flesh is slowly dissolved in any of it's many womb-stomachs. The modified psychophages within the creature help it, keep it safe, and will ultimately kill it. such is the love for the flesh. if only we could all be more like the garrifest.
>>4183716The Eyelash Weedgrowth finds a wonderful new means of delivering it's seeds: the Psychofages! Using it's sticky "eyelashes", a seed will hitch a ride on a Psychofage until it reaches an animal, and quickly anchor itself into it's skin just like it would once anchor itself into stomach lining. This makes individual Psychofage infections much more lethal and painful, but renders swarms in their total less efficient, as a large amount of host nutrients is diverted to the Weedgrowths. Also, a swarm infected by these seeds tends to leave rather beautiful fields full of rows upon rows of Weedgrowth wherever it feeds.
>>4178821The mentat Imash is an offshoot of the brain imash. Initially an evolutionary war between it and that which would infest it resulted in a capsule like sheathing of tough membrane like material around the soft brain. Soon though, it became apparent that the pain granted CLARITY. In clarity the Imash could focus the ectoplasm into a formless state, overiding the will of that which made it up, with it's own. PAIN was a gift, a gift it could share. It was warm when it was cold, it was always there, a constant companion. The Mentat can use its superior control over ectoplasm to create more complex constructs from the memories and ideas that swirl about in it. To see a mentat dragging itself along the coastline is not uncommon, aided by spectral hands, or horrific jaws. The bulbs of infestation on it are periodically "pruned" by prolonged stays within a pocket dimension, to keep the pain up, but the spiritual consumption down. The harm done to the microscopic organisms is much greater than that of the larger imash.
>>4189704The male's fins become enormous for his size, allowing him to fly by clumsily flapping them. Thus, the sharing of genes between different hives becomes much easier. At the same time, the female begins to siphon more blood from The Flesh than ever before, her placenta now sending out individual "veins" far and wide.
>>4189278The Spinetaurs grow longer, more spindly legs to avoid the worst of the flesh, it is ever spreading now, and their bodies cannot afford it's caress, for it is anathema to them; without the spirit, their own meager biology will promptly fail. Long mostly inert claspers allow them to grab organisms and carry them away, further into the mountains, away from the hated flesh. somewhere safe.
>>4187770The Arctic Shielder develops two key features: first, a "protractable" (it actually just copypastes more of itself lower on it's axis instead of extending) drillbit for reaching the delicious >>4189411; and second, a powerful shield, repurposed from it's rotary saw, used to repel the swarms of Psychofages assaulting the world. Being composed of Pyramid Stone, the shield is impossible for the tiny creatures to burrow through, though the fact that it has to be supported by ectoplasm takes a heavy toll on the creature's metabolism.
>>4191227>>4189660The Great Hive near the Womb welcomes with joy this new gift of comfort, but they need to survive anyway. So, they evolve a new variant of Slaves: the Lumps. Lumps are gigantic masses of grey matter on which the males (which are small enough to cut the tumors and to catch the bigger Neurophages directly) deposit the Neurophages and their tumors. The Lump can’t move, it can’t fight, it has no ability or purpose whatsoever except that of being a giant food pile for the gifts of the Womb. The other ants are kept as clean as possible, entire sections of their flesh cut off to keep them free of the parasites, even if it means losing a limb

>>4192186Through eons of subsiding in an environment washed in high concentrations null light, taking on ectoplasm of all kinds of dying or newly dead creatures on the sea floor and using their “ember” / weak pocket dimensions to put their ectoplasm through a similar process to that of what the Hsmyx does to matter, the conciousness of the Depths Irrinoct continues warping. While the high concentration of ectoplasm this results in serves to artificially increase the conciousness of the creature, it also has the effect of making the creature become more aggressive, raving and incoherent. It’s not unusual for Irrinocts to attack and prey on each other, many having started to prey on the two Hsmyx species found in the depths >>4185817 >>4183577 (Mainly by trying to wound or disrupt the Hsmyx enough to self-destruct, leaving the pieces for the Irrinoct to feed on.
>>4183577The Hsmyx adapted to the new predation by simply becoming large enough that it was harder to kill. Food was never a problem. The great forests grow denser, and the ruddy light glows brighter. The eyes of the beast adapt to finding its kin, herding together in great pockets of superheated water, this protects them from gurocytes for the most part, but also runs the risk of catastrophic herd detonation.
>>4185817The Sugar Hsmyx has faced considerable trouble from the new masters of the depths, and increasing rejection from the greater hsmyx herds. Its fierce metabolic demands drive it to ever richer feeding territory, and apparently the occasional bout of friendly cannibalism is not smiled upon within the herd.At first the new 'Phage menace nearly drove the hungry beasts to extinction, followed up by the emergence of the >>4192186 Deep Irrinoct. It was simply a smarter, and better drawn creature. The Hsmyx's tendrils evolved longer, tipped with aggressive scrubbing brushes to get the small phages off it's skin, but the real path forward was the Lure. Periodic emission of ectoplasm draws 'cytes and 'phages to it's swirling binary vortex, offering a new and unlimited supply of subsistence, driving growth once more, and allowing it to begin feeding on new material.
>>4189256The Feeling Imash now coats it's body in the same fearful ectoplasm that it makes it's decoys out of. The upside is that now the Psychofages and other parasites are driven off as soon as the attempt to feast on the creature. The downside is that the Imash itself constantly experiences it's own neverending fear, multiplied tenfold. It is not uncommon for the creatures to literally die of fright.
>>4191227Some would call the Surface Psychofage more merciful than it's ancestors. That is unso - it is simply more rational in it's feeding practices. Unlike the normal Psychofage, the creature does not have a set of burrowing jaws, and is thus limited solely to the outer tissues of creatures. While this means it doesn't get as much ectoplasm and food as it's predecessor on a daily basis, it is much more efficient in the long run - as the Surface Psychofages can keep it's host alive even with more than 50% of it's body covered in the little parasites, it is not uncommon for large swarms to keep siphoning the same host for months and even years.
>>4189101In a rare case of convergent evolution, the hungry irrinoct gains a prism to channel its null light through. this new null light beam can even pierce through the sarglaths bacteria
>>4189278The Psychofages feed on flesh, yet their craving for ectoplasm far exceeds that for meat - and the Mist Horse has capitalized on this. By angling it's pipes downward and dispersing concentrated ectoplasm around itself instead of above itself like before, it is able to divert the attention of the ravenous swarms to this mist, and make a quick getaway while the Psychofages attempt to feed on thin air. This technique is however horribly expensive, and so during day-to-day life the Mist Horse sticks with a much smaller, less concentrated ecto cloud, just enough to move it's muscleless joints. And just to be totally safe, it has gotten rid of exposed flesh altogether wherever possible - the only remaining "weak spots" are the orifices and the neck.
>>4189621The Atlas Irrisim uses electrified spines to defend itself both from Psychofages and the smaller, but dangerous Hoya Pigs.
>>4189652To the combat the swarms of Psychophages >>4191227 plaguing the land the Hoya Pig has developed the ability to breath out a protective cloud of neurotoxins. To most creatures stalking the Hoya Forests these toxins are ineffective due to either having a advance respiratory system are simply being to large to be able to properly effect. But to the tiny Psychophages the toxins are a death sentence.
>>4181572To better capture the dim starlight the Hoya Tree has gained the ability to grow additional algae heads. These heads grow out from the main trunk when the main head reaches its maximum possible size.
>>4186583To survive the horrid swarms of Psychophages >>4191227 the Hoya Boar has gained some unusual abilities. Under normal circumstances the hoya boar spends it's time feeding heavily on the fruit of the Hoya Tree >>4194597, to maintain a large store of fat in their bodies. But when the hoya boar detects highly abnormal ectoplasmic signatures, sign of a psychophage swarm, using it's null-sensitive skin covered body it moves into action. The boar immediately starts using its sharp beak and claws to bury itself underground where the psychophages can't reach the boar. There the boar goes into a two week hibernation to wait out the swarm.
>>4185888Thanks to it's silica heavy diet, courtesy of the Quartz Pangla >>4185285, The Thicket Pig Screamer has gained a flexible yet durable outer shell. It has also gained a secondary mouth to prevent indigestible and dangerous substances from entering its stomach while it digs using it's first mouth. Screamers will typically hide their eggs inside small holes in panglas, there the pangla will grow a quartz shell around the eggs, protecting them til they hatch.
>>4189301The Hairy Hoya Pig's body is now completely covered in protective hair. They have also slimmed down even farther then before. In response to the plaque of Psychophages >>4191227 the hoya pig's immune system has developed to tje point where it can reliably fight off psychophage infection before it can become properly rooted.
>>4185413For a long time, the Hsmyx Hunters have grown fat and large on the easy prey they have found in the depths, but another encroaches on their precious niche. Due to the pressure that the Deep Irrinoct >>>>4192186 asserts on the hsmyx hunter it has transformed into an even fiercer predator. With its increased size and second turret the hsmyx hunter is capable of killing Hsmyxs without having to rupture them. They have also gained legs better suited for running about the sea floor, allowing them to better fight Sugar Hsmyxs >>4192347 and Deep Irrinocts.
Despite what their good control of ectoplasma even without their stones might suggest, Stalkers are in fact near mindless. They spend their whole lives basically thinking only three thoughts, find big stone, find food, and make children. But this is no longer the case, for the true nervous system of the stalker has changed radically. It can now see without the aid of the stone’s false eyes, feel the bitter cold of its polar home, feel when it needs to feed, and the capacity to feel pain. And with pain comes the ability to feel the most primal of emotions, Fear. This heightened mind has endowed the stalker with stronger ectoplasma. For now, the stalker only truly uses this new found strength to crush Psychophages >>4191227 attempting to breach it’s tough ecto shell, using the same ectoplasma that they so dearly desire.
>>4193202Hungry Irrinocts develop ornate fins that allow them to swim faster. Actually, the ornateness is just a coincidence.
>>4189686The flowering Windleaf develops a large taproot for storing nutrients. This allows it to regrow the above ground parts if it is eaten using its nutrient stores.
>>4181572The Hoya Creeper stays low, close to the ground, usually under other Hoya plants. This disguises them so they won't be eaten, as well as letting them save their energy for spreading outwards instead of upwards.
>>4190980Some male Irrinocts repurpose their crystal back into a flashbang, and while their firepower is not enough to do anything but blind those who are comparable to them in size, it fares quite admirably against it's intended target - the Psychofages. By releasing multiple quick pulses of null-light, a male is able to strip the ectoplasm off of a whole swarm. These Irrinocts are known as the Pope Irrinocts.
>>4189565The Snorkeltail Irrinoct hides from Psychofage swarms under the sands, exposing only their flasher and their bone-plated nose. Due to spending a lot of their time underground, their eyes begin to become smaller. Also, to contend with their laser-toting cousins, they become physically larger.
>>4176902Fruiting Shyravs entice herbivores with its succulent fruit. The seeds inside the fruit then pass harmlessly through the digestive system of the herbivore and grow using their poop as fertilizer. Neat!
>>4194712Male turtlehead irrinocts collect the crystals of other Irrinocts as a show of force. As such, they develop hard heads to prevent brain damage when fighting each other for their crystals.Females will mate with the male with the biggest hoard. They still get beaten up, though.
>>4188989Noose coilravs have a noose-shaped 'root' that they use to snag random animals from the ocean. Once snagged, the noose tightens until the animal is dead, and the roots grow into the animal. However, since the animal is sometimes heavy, they get dragged into the ocean a lot so they've learned to survive partially underwater.
For several generations, the Irrinoct was hungry. Always eating, but never satisfied. It gained high amounts of mass but spent equal amounts in chasing its prey. Recently though, due to a changed hunting strategy and acid to melt the bacteria, the Irrinoct has been able to feed itself. This has allowed for unprecedented change in the irrinoct
>>4193202>>4194808The Irrinoct has finally become sated
>>4194811>The irrinoct has become sated>Still called the hungry irrinoct
>>4194811sorry, wrong image
We are not alone (4/4)COMFORT is unrelentingThe heat boils the Oceans. The psychophages devistate the grasland. The temperature dries out hte Hoya forests. The tumors infest the depths. At the end of this era, a combination of factors has lead to a mass extinction less severe but more global than those before it. Heat from bellow and Psychophages from above make for a perfect storm of extinction.
