Last time, you went to school and made friends with some of the new kids, made amends with your friend Scarlet, and together formed a team (name pending) with the objective to save the world. The first step to accomplishing this was suggesting to the Judges a new set of rules. Hopefully they pick them up! What a day - and it’s still not over! After all your activities today, you return to your apartment. As you go up the stairs you notice a guest waiting at your door. It’s Ruby! She’s going to live with you for the foreseeable future. She has her backpack, a cup of coffee, her clothes, and nothing else! Despite the snow being mostly gone, the weather is still cold. Oh and she hasn’t noticed you yet. What do you do?>Say hi and apologize for making her wait! You’re already not doing great as a host.>With great power comes great responsibility. Make yourself invisible and surprise her!>Make yourself invisible and try to sneak inside your apartment with her not noticing for some reason.>Write In.

This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 15 minutes have passed, so we can speed up the process. Rolls are counted until 10 minutes have passed, so be prepared! (NEW) Dice Mechanic: We always roll 1d100s!Since most people weren’t happy with the system of averaging top four rolls, we’re using best of 2/3/4 depending on the attribute a prompt requires. If Johnny is a genius and it’s a Knowledge based roll, he gets more rolls (Max. 7)! If he sucks, he gets less dice (Min. 2)! When asked for rolls, I will specify how many you’re going to get. Rolling begins after it’s asked. Rolling over a 95 is a critical and ignores all other rolls! In the same vein, rolling 5 or under means a critical failure (only for hard rolls and above). The difficulty of the roll is tied with the effectiveness of the action. In other words, the harder the option the better the result! Don’t forget that at the end of the day, this is a story-driven quest! What the prompts are describing is more important than the difficulty of the rolls, for results in a fight. Again, rolls are only counted when they are posted within ten minutes of being asked, so watch out!

You approach her as any normal boring human being would do to say hi.“Hey, sorry to keep you waiting.” You’re already not doing great as a host… "I was out handling some business. Hope you weren't out here for long."“I don’t mind! It’s chilly out here, want some coffee?” Ruby offers you her cheap cup of coffee. Didn't she already drink from it?“Eh, I’m fine. I have stuff inside.” You open the door to your apartment. “Cute backpack by the way.”“Thank you. It’s an alligator, and all I have left…” Ruby looks down to her cup with guilt. “A-Are you really okay with having me here?”“Yeah, that’s why I’m inviting you in.” You open your door even wider and point inside. “We made a promise, you know?”“I really can’t express with words how thankful I am.” Ruby looks moved. “I’m going to do everything in my power to adhere to all your rules, and I’ll contribute as much as I can to this household!”“You can express all your gratitude inside, no need to say this all in the cold…” You scratch the back of your head.“R-Right.” Ruby takes a deep breath and goes inside your apartment. You trail behind and close the damn door. Don't wanna let all your heating, what little you have of it, go to waste. “So this is your place…” She’s looking around with child-like curiosity.“Something wrong?” Didn’t she come here before…?“Uhm… Looks smaller from the outside.” Ruby is still holding all her stuff. “I-I didn’t want to be rude! It’s a thought that escaped me! I’m so sorry!”“Chill. It’s fine. You want some tea? Coffee? Anything?” You leave your stuff near the couch and go to the kitchen.“There is no need.” The nervous girl declines. “Shall we talk about how this is going to work? When I moved out, Osgood and I had a long conversation about what I can and can’t do, and that worked pretty well for us! What I mean is that I want to affect your daily life as minimal as possible! So I’ll follow your guidelines!”How do you respond?>“Uhh… Never done something like that. Usually people just live here and we tolerate each other.”>“What guidelines did you have in your arrangement? Just to know what I’m dealing with here.”>“Boundaries are important, I get that. But first, let me show you your room…”>“You sleep on the couch. I don’t want any noise past 8 PM, and you need to look for a job immediately. Non-negotiable.” Time for a joke!>Write In.

>>3914304>"Ruby, calm down. I know this is easier said then done but you don't have to be so nervous here. You aren't the first person I've let crash at my apartment and you're already way more considerate than them. The thing I'd appreciate the most is if you acted more casual, I promise you you're not being an inconvenience"
“Uhh… Never done something like that. Usually people just live here and we tolerate each other.” You again scratch the back of your head.“That’s not good at all! A dynamic like that only brings resentment, and making you uncomfortable is my biggest worry right now.” Nervously, Ruby takes a sip of her coffee. Wouldn’t that make her more nervous though?“Ruby, calm down. I know this is easier said than done, but you don’t have to be so nervous here. You aren’t the first person I’ve let crash at my apartment, and you’re already way more considerate than them. Honestly, the thing I’d appreciate the most is if you acted more casual. I promise you you’re not being an inconvenience.” You clarify.“B-But you don’t know if I’m going to be in the future. I’m well aware you need your space, so let’s not kid ourselves and settle this issue immediately.”“Look Ruby, you’re overthinking it. I’m completely fine with everything you do. But since you feel so strongly about this, what guidelines did you have in your arrangement? Just to know what I’m dealing with here.” Maybe you can get some ideas on how to start making her feel a lot better about all this…?“We distributed chores! I cleaned the dishes, the house, wash and iron the clothes, buy the groceries. Osgood paid the bills, took the trash, and killed the spiders – which is very important, I might add! We took turns to make lunch, because neither of us were a good cook. Uhm…” Ruby holds up a hand, counting points on her finger as she says them. “I couldn’t decorate the rooms, couldn’t make too much noise past 9 PM. I had to leave him a message every time I went out, tell him where I was and for how long I was going to be outside. I had to leave the toilet seat up, toilet paper roll must face the wall so you have to pull, no sugary food, no smoking, drinking only if supervised, uhm… I couldn’t touch food in the fridge with his name on it. Couldn’t invite friends unauthorized. I couldn’t wake him up during his beauty nap time.” Ruby looks down at her coffee cup, now mumbling to herself. “What else…? I’m sure I’m forgetting something, I always do… And that’s not even counting the relationship rules!”“R-Right…” That’s a little too much! Part of you wonders if Osgood really did have more issues than you thought he did, to be this beyond extensive with rules. Stuff like this doesn’t come across as normal to you, even considering how much your definition of ‘normal’ has changed since this war began…“A-Also, don’t think I didn’t have rules of my own! No sir! It was totally prohibited for him to go to those ‘Poker Nights’ of his…! Hmph! And I told him from the very beginning I hate lies and liars!” Ruby’s face scowls in irritation… but also in a wistful sort of longing.
>>3914463How do you respond?>“I guess we can distribute the chores between us…?”>“Well forget all that, ‘cause you can do whatever you want.”>“So you were his bitch? >>3914468>>“I guess we can distribute the chores between us…?”Whatever makes her feel better. We can do the same chores arrangement they had but we'll also be cooking. Other than that though she can really do whatever she wants

>>3914468I'm pretty laid back, you don't have to worry about me being controlling.
“I guess we can distribute the chores between us…?” You propose, just to satisfy her in some way. One part of you suspects that’s how Osgood used to handle her, but another part is that he probably took advantage of her generosity and decency. The things she described sounded horrible enough to paint Osgood as some sort of secret control freak, but who knows what the truth could have been? Either way, you should stop mentally shitting on his memory…“That’s a given, Johnny! How would you like to do it?” Ruby looks more cheerful, now that the subject is moving on. “You take the spiders please…”“Sure, maybe the same ones? I’ll do all the cooking, though we’ll see about the groceries. I’m pretty laid back, you don’t have to worry about me being controlling.”Ruby claps her hands together, satisfied. Then she blinks and looks around your living room. “Would you mind telling me where the vacuum cleaner is? I want to start right now!” Is Ruby a workaholic? That’s a bit too much enthusiasm for day one, isn’t it?“Err… Is the place really that dirty?” You look around your place the same way Ruby did, suddenly unable to stop yourself from feeling a bit self-conscious. It… looks fine to you? You’ve always kept good care of the apartment, even when a certain somebody never did…“I-I didn’t want to offend you! I just wanted to lend a hand!” Ruby panics.“None taken. Let me show you the apartment first, and then you just relax for a bit. Okay? It’s small, so it’s not going to take long.”You show Ruby the small bathroom, the small kitchen, your small room, and her small room in the span of a few minutes! You also take the time to point out key things she’ll need to know are around, like cleaning supplies, tools, and some other miscellaneous things. Now she’s looking around at her room with the same curiosity as before.
>>3914796“One question; why are there two beds?” Oh right, you have your dad’s king-sized bed and the small one you got from Craig.“It was a guest room, and I had too many guests.” You briefly explain. “Can’t exactly have everybody sleeping on the couch.”“S-So can I line them up to have one super big bed?!” Ruby’s eyes start to shine. “It will be just like my childhood one!”“Problem is I’m not sure they are the same height…” That would be bad for anybody’s back, right?“I’ll make it work!” Ruby smiles, nodding to herself. She’s really getting into it! “Another question; why do you use that small room for yourself instead of this one? It barely has any space.”“Because it’s always been my room.”“But this one is so much better, and a generous person like you deserves it! I don’t mind not having the big bed!”“It’s fine, Ruby. Just go with the flow and take a break.”“I don’t think that’s a good idea. There are still many things I could be doing.”“Whatever floats your goat.” You shrug.“Isn’t the phrase ‘whatever floats your boat’?” Ruby tilts her head.“…I actually have no idea.”“We should look it up.”“Eeeh…?” You don’t know how to handle her. You just don’t.The time is about 8 PM, an hour since Ruby arrived. What now?>“Okay sure.” Spend some time with your new house guest. “That won’t be necessary, I have some stuff to do. But feel free to get yourself comfortable, this is your home now.” Sadly you’re busy. There’s a lot you’ve overlooked or didn’t have time to investigate.“Thank you, and don’t mind me! You need to take your responsibilities seriously and I would hate myself if I was in the way.” Ruby smiles without one ounce of resentment. “I’m going to tidy up this place, and maybe look around for a job since I don’t go to college anymore…” And there goes the smile…“You don’t need to bring any money, so save it up.”“That doesn’t sound fair to me. Oh well! I don’t want to keep you here any longer! I’m going to move this bed…” Ruby start pushing the smaller bed around. She really wants her super-sized bed after all. You’ll have to take the secret mission of…Talking with NarikoYou’re quite worried about her after what happened yesterday with Scarlet (despite it all being her fault)! You inform Ruby you’ll be out but won’t be far. She wishes you well in the middle of vacuuming and asks you not to be out too late. You tell her you’re visiting a neighbor upstairs, so she has nothing to worry about – that actually relaxes the well-intentioned girl. You step out of your apartment……and into the freezing weather! Wow, it’s so chilly outside! It was only a couple days ago that there was snow everywhere too. Trying not to stay still for too long, you rush up the stairs. The sun takes so long to set, yet you’re being chilled through your comfy winter coat. You wonder what caused all this anomalous weather in the first place. Doesn’t matter! You knock on the girls’ apartment door once you reach it. The door opens…“Oh hey, Johnny.” It’s Amelia! And she looks as dead inside as ever! Not something you want to get used to. “Nice timing.” She turns her head into the apartment. “Hey, Yu! Show him our latest invention!”“W-What?! Johnny is here?! Who invited him over?!” That’s Yu Yan from deep in the apartment. “And NO! Fuck off!”“Hehehe…” Amelia’s sinister smile is at full display. “Need anything? Some sugar? I can’t let you in without a reason, you know…”How do you respond?>“I came to see Nariko. Is she busy right now?”>“What invention? Can I see whatever it is?”>“I just came to let you know about something.”>Write In.
>>3915162>“I just came to let you know about something.”No, stop. We gotta go do plot. Stop derailing.
>>3915162>Pat her head>“I came to see Nariko. Is she busy right now?”
>>3915169+1Little sisters are meant to be headpatted!
>>3915162>“I just came to let you know about something.”
You pat your little sister’s head, because she’s still your little sister underneath it all. She grabs your arm gently and instead makes you caress her head. Seems like she needed it…“I came to see Nariko. Is she busy right now?”“Let me check…” Amelia narrows the door gap and goes inside the apartment. Some rustling and chatter ensues between them, but you cannot make out what they are saying. Eventually you hear Amelia coming back to the door. “Nariko said she can’t see you right now, that she’s too ashamed of the way she looks to meet with you, and to send you this…” Amelia hands you a phone. “It’s a present. Inside has her private number or something. I don’t get what’s going on, but she’s been looking rough since yesterday, and she didn’t have a good day at school either – so try to cheer her up, okay?” Her expression darkens as she says this.“Sure…” You are dumbfounded by all this. Did last night really hit her that hard, and you didn’t know? “Should I call her using this?”“She said so…” Amelia shrugs. “I’m sorry I can’t invite you in. The others would spank my butt if I tried. They’ve never done it, but for some reason I feel like they would this time. I can see it in Yu’s eyes, you know? She doesn’t bother hiding it… or anything, really.”“Haha, I have no idea.” You know it very well. You’ve seen the vulnerability and trust Yu showed you, that night with her scars… It’s not an easy image to forget, after all.“Uh, and Johnny…” Amelia looks you right in the eyes. The dark, dismissive air around her slackens. “If you need anything, you know you can count on me. Right?”“Yeah, I do.” You smile at her. “It’s not like I could forget.”“You’re with Ruby now, right?”“Yeah, how did you know?”“You told me about it…” Amelia frowns, the shadow of a pout on her face. “Dummy.” It reminds you of how she used to be, except different.“Sorry… I have to keep up with so many people and so much shit lately…”“It’s okay, I feel the same way.” She nods quietly. “I’m gonna close the door now. Bye-bye. Yu Yan sends you kisses too…” Amelia closes the door in front of you. That silly bear…Guess you’ll have to withstand this cold if you want some privacy. You walk towards the railing and dial Nariko’s number on this new, classy phone.“I was expecting your call.” Nariko answers immediately, not a single dial tone getting through. It catches you off-guard. “I apologize for not being able to speak in person. I saw no other way…” She’s trying to sound enigmatic.
>>3915347How do you respond?>“Nariko, I smacked your ass while you moaned in pleasure. Stop pretending to be cool with me. >>3915373Doubt we can do lasers. Philo's power is anti-light, and it only affects Johnny and things the power considers as part of himself. Lasers are directly controlling light itself, not to mention painfully OP no matter how you look at them, so I don't think that can work. The BEGONE THOT lens flare blinding is the farthest we can take that line of use. Visual alterations are already things Johnny can do. Illusions I'm not sure of.
>>3915408What if we reflect the light that hits us and focus where it reflects?
>>3915419At most it might be enough to melt metal and heat objects if you keep it steady on target. At least it'll be a distraction tool like a glorified laser pointer minus the ability to be traced?
>>3915423It'd be put to better use blinding people permanently.
>>3915408In theory Johnny could manipulate the light to stay around around him as opposed to all just bouncing off instantly and causes the light to bounce off in a more concentrated beam and it would effectively be a laser. It's the same concept as our glasses flash but concentrated, waaay more simple to imagine than our cloaking ability. And lasers have different levels of power so it doesn't necessarily have to be OP. It can, for example, be strong enough to burn flesh but not strong enough to go through metal. Not all lasers are Star Wars death rays
>>3915437If it can even do that much>>3915440Fair, but keep in mind all of this runs off of Johnny's own energy reserves. We have no idea how much energy one laser beam can even drain
We should ask Matilda to teach us martial arts, or at the very least get some brass knuckles or a knife. We can't just JoJo this shit and let Philonune do all the work.
>>3915448Eyes are fragile, a strong enough laser should leave sun spots and for extends amounts it'll ruin your eyes.
>>3915448While I agree that Johnny probably doesn't have enough energy to spam them over and over again it should cost much less energy than maintaining our cloak. I'd say we probably won't be able to pull of both at the same time but we should at least have enough energy to make it a reliable range weapon should we ever need it
“Nariko, I smacked your ass while you moaned in pleasure. Stop pretending to be cool with me. Tell me what you want; no dodging the question or changing the subject.”“Aaah?! B-But you were the one who wanted to talk to m-me…!” Nariko is taken off guard and is completely flustered. “And… I-It doesn’t matter what I want! I still need to be punished again! Remember…?” Is Nariko… slurping…? What’s going on over there?! “I-I w-was such a bad girl yesterday too… Such a nuisance… I bet you wanted to punish me there and then… Y-You might n-need to ramp up your s-sentence…! Teach me my place… J-Just the two of us this time… It can’t happen any other way…”“Tell me what you want.” You ignore this horny bovine. Because that is what she is right now.“I don’t remember… All I can think of is you punishing me… he… he… hehe…” Nariko is turning crazy, hyperventilating. Occasionally, one of the gasping laughs sounds more like a moan. “Oh no… I’m so disgraceful! I’m so sorry! Do not listen to me!” Nariko snaps out of her trance. “W-What in tarnation is happening to me? I don’t know what image of me you have right now… Ugh, I just sincerely apologize for being so weird! Please ignore me and forget this ever happened!”“Nariko, I said no dodging questions or changing subjects. That’s what you’re doing right now. Stop it.” The only way is to be a bit stern, or you’ll never get anything through.“I don’t want anything! I apologize for intruding in your plans yesterday; that has been wearing me down the whole day. I don’t know why I couldn’t help myself. That took some weight off my chest, indeed! This would be the opportunity for the short one to make her snide remarks, right? Hahaha. Haha. Ha…”“Nariko…”“Please, Dear Johnny. I just wanted to impress you and failed miserably, just like now. Keep the phone as a token of my expression of regret. Have a good night, dear Johnny!”“Take care…”“You too!” Nariko hangs up.…Well, that was hella weird. It’s like two Narikos bouncing between them. A double personality? Or just a girl who cannot admit her own feelings? At this point, the best course of action is to wait some time before doing anything for her…

You’ll have your first solo mission: Investigating the 1-Plus Factory, the base of the Cult. But it’s time to go to school yet again like a normal civilian! Sounds so riveting… you’re probably going to zone out the majority of it and just recount the most relevant events that happened. After making lunch for Ruby and yourself, you leave to another day of mild institutional suffering. The events went as follows:—You encountered Yu Yan and Nariko outside the gates before classes. They both looked rather cute in their respective uniforms, and both were attracting glances from other students – not all of them from the guys. Maybe they were looking at someone else too, but you couldn’t tell who it is from looking around. Oh well, you’re happy both are seemingly doing fine and fitting in. Guess the purples joining in ease the process.—Matilda met with you in the first break. She wasn’t exactly happy with your absence yesterday, but took it way better than you expected. Though, she’s still expecting you to come over to the dojo 4 times a week at minimum. You’re going to need to juggle your time better to not disappoint her more…—During classes, Scarlet asked you through text how things went with her suggestions to the Judges. Sadly, you didn’t have any news about that yourself. She looked optimistic about it though. Oh, and she wanted to talk about something after school, something about the newly formed team…—At your second break, while you were chatting with your new purple pals, Sammi took you out to the hallway to thank you for cheering up Scarlet. She still has some reservations about you though. You don’t care.—In the same break, Henry of all people saw you talking with Sammi. He asked you if you knew her, and you told him what you know… which isn’t much at all. Henry evaded your counter questions about if he knew her; seems there is some kind of animosity between them. He was more open to talk about the Motley Crew though, and how things have been better lately. He then randomly left. What a guy…—During classes, you received a series of text messages from Nina. She informed you she has someone (T_T Neko) who can help you out with the computer. She asked you to let her know when you’ll be able to tackle this. After expressing you’ll give her your answer later, the conversation unfolded into something more casual, with her asking you how have you been and the like. She also apologized for the late response.—During lunch, Gwendoline, the boss of the Purple Spike, demanded more food from you. Your new friend Duncan dissolved the situation pretty quickly. It seems she won’t be bothering you anymore. You don’t know how to feel about that.
>>3916664—In the same break, there was another arm wrestling contest at the Cafeteria, with Trent being the center of it yet again. He defeated each and every one of his competitors, including Gwendoline… You cheered him on from the shadows.—At the end of the lunch break, Yu Yan asked you if you could be a champ and help her and Nariko out. She wanted to know if you could make them lunch, since they both absolutely hate the cafeteria food. You probably will, but you didn’t promise anything.—It seems like your old P.E. teacher Mr. McKenzie died. They made a plaque with his name on it for the school gym, which was quickly vandalized in short order. Mainly because the students who died didn’t get anything of the like. Mr. Conti was said to be furious.…And so, classes ended. It’s time for action at last! But before you can go, Scarlet approached you and asked you to come over to the rooftop. It’s team matters, so you follow her.“What did you want to show me?” You are a little confused. What could this be about?]i]“This!” Scarlet pulls out a mask from her backpack with a little flourish! It’s a half-mask for the lower half of someone’s face, covering the nose and cheeks. The mask has a macabre mouth open in a mocking laugh, almost reminding you of those stereotypical comedy masks in theater plays. Specifically, the ones that go with a tragedy mask. “You said your partner is some kind of samurai, so I made you a mask to hide your identity! You know, like we discussed yesterday!” That’s why she asked what Philonune looked like in the texts!“Woah, you didn’t have to.” It’s… kind of cool… You take it from her and examine it in your hands. The material is hard but not uncomfortable, and the sides don’t seem to impede peripheral vision. It completely protects your chin too, and the mask’s insides are padded for easier wearing.“I had to, Johnny. If you’re going to be out there in the open, you don’t want the bad guys to know your real identity. It’s, like, Super Heroics 101.” Scarlet won’t take the compliment at face value. “Now, I thought about possible team names too, and I came up with… this!” She takes out a notebook with a page open and ready. Sure enough, it has a name on it in big capital letters…“The Nameless…?”“I didn’t want to go overboard with something lengthy and stupid like “The Hosts of Rebellion” or whatever. A name should be short and to-the-point, and it should get at least one idea across to anybody who hears it. What do you think?”Well? What do you think?>“It’s fine, I guess…”>“Works for me!”>“Let’s keep thinking this through, shall we?”>”Maybe it should be…” (Write In.) “Works for me.” No name sounds great until you get used to it. “Better than the Motley Crew.”“Wooo! We’re officially The Nameless! For now! Oh, that’s the other group you are part of, right?”“Y-Yeah… ignore that comment.” You keep staring at your new mask, almost unable to tear your eyes away. “This is a really nice mask. I’m almost afraid of wearing it and getting it damaged.”“Hey t-thank you!” Scarlet doesn’t hide how overjoyed she is. “And it doesn’t matter! I can always make another one! And it’s untested, so let’s hope it doesn’t break or anything…”“It won’t stay that way for long. I’m testing it today. You see…” You explain to your teammate what your plans are for the rest of today. “…I’m not planning on putting myself in any danger though. If by midnight I don’t contact you in any way or form, tell both Matilda and Amelia what happened. You have their numbers, right?”“Y-Yeah, I do! Don’t worry about it!” Scarlet smiles, but you can feel she’s worried. “So Matilda knows about this too?”“Yeah, why not? Efficient, secretive, reliable, and all for little pay too. You should give her a shot if you want something done any of these days.” You shill Matilda’s abilities to Scarlet!“B-Best I did was asking her to bring me some food… haha…” Scarlet mumbles, looking a bit nervous. Hey, Matilda’s clientele is expanding! That’s great news! “Hmm… Then I’ll be ready on the phone for your call. And oh, do you think buying a drone would a good idea?”“A drone?” What? That never crossed your mind… “What, how come?”“With those Crimzones I don’t know how useful they can be, but attaching a camera into one and flying them around could be quite useful for safe recon.”“Could be better than cats with microphones and speakers…” You don’t think it’s a bad idea at all. Might be easier to get one than you think, even, with how your nation’s government has a heavy emphasis on military. Do surplus stores sell those? “Good idea.”“My dad took his away… I’ll go look into buying one soon!” Scarlet smiles. Looks like she’ll be the one handling that instead of you. Considering the amount you have to deal with already, that’s good. Team members are supposed to delegate stuff to each other, right? “Now, Johnny, be really careful and don’t hesitate to call me. Okay?”“Sure. Again, I shouldn’t be getting in any danger doing this.” Especially with your ability at your disposal. “I’m gonna go change clothes in the bathroom and I’ll be going.” That’s why you brought some in your backpack. The uniform would out you on sight to anybody otherwise.Scarlet hugs you before leaving. “T-Take care again.” She breaks the hug and moves to the stairs, waving back at you. You watch her go, musing that you didn’t even get a chance to hug her back…
>>3916796You left the school wearing your new casual clothing, and took the subway train to the station closest to the old 1-Plus Factory. >>3916801Actually, backing >>3916827We can use the invisibility sparingly too, maybe? To avoid losing too much power to it, we can simply turn it on if there's a risk of being seen, then turn it off again if there isn't.
>>3916842Yeah, something like this is ideal.
>>3916801>You still remember how Matilda and Lise sneaked on the rooftops. Do something similar and trespass inside the facility undetected, wearing your full gear.
It’s time to use your invisibility to case the factory and look for a safe point of entry! You put your mask on and start moving towards your objective, streets in this area empty of any people who might see you. The mask fits perfectly on your face, the padding on all the right places. How Scarlet could have possibly got your face proportions this perfect eludes you. You try to get closer using the alleyways between the surrounding buildings, remembering what you know from Trent’s explanations and Lise’s vision. With your back against the wall of the building behind the apartments, you peek around to take a look at the factory. There are ‘no trespassing’ signs posted all over the old walls, as well as numerous lines of police tape placed haphazardly in many sections across the empty space. They must’ve raided the building after the events that transpired here with the cult, right? They wouldn’t just do absolutely nothing and leave! They are not that incompetent… but seeing a few police tape lines visibly cut down says otherwise. It is definitely not accidental, since police tape is still intact in a majority of the alley space between the factory and the buildings. Whoever’s here must have removed some but not all, in an attempt to dispel general suspicion. While invisible, you approach the same gate you remember the cultists used to exit the factory, almost like a large garage door. Perhaps it was once used for shipments? There’s no loading dock or anything similar here though. Near this gate are some windows, so you can try to see what’s inside. But first, you notice the heavy metal gate is closed and won’t budge easily when you try to pull at it. There’s no button to press to automatically open it from this side either. No way this was going to be that easy.As you look through the grimy window, to your detriment, everything looks too dark inside to make out anything! It’s not even nighttime yet, but this entire back area is in enough shadow to prevent seeing things from the outside as well. Except one thing is certain; you hear people inside… You step away to walk around the building perimeter, looking for an entrance. It isn’t long before you have some options to consider…What do you do now?>Try to trespass by going to the main entrance of the factory and simply walking inside! You know, like anyone else would?>Break one of the windows and try to get inside from there! It’ll be noisy, but it’s an option. Just be careful not to cut yourself on glass…>Try going inside by that ventilation shaft next to the metal gate! >>3916955>>Try going inside by that ventilation shaft next to the metal gate! >>3916955This >>3916968Infrared while filtering out all other light radiation should be enough to see into the place, yeah? At least see people if there are any.
>>3916955>Try to forcefully open that gate you were looking at moments before! Philonune should have enough strength to lift it so you can duck inside…
>>3916955>Try going inside by that ventilation shaft next to the metal gate! It looks spacious enough that you can fit inside and still have room to breathe.
You decide it’s best to go inside by the ventilation shaft. You use Philonune to help you climb the wall and sneak inside, the rusty metal cover coming off easily. You also use your dark vision – err… - thermo vision… Uhm— whatever it’s supposed to be, to see in the darkness better! Geez, you seriously need to look up how light stuff works later to get a better grasp of what things you can do with this power… Either way, right now your body is well-rested, and you paced your movements while you were cloaked outside, so wasting energy shouldn’t be an issue for what’s to come.No matter how much you would like this to be, you’re no action hero and this sneaking stuff is all new to you. So instead of trying to climb down the sheer vertical vent by your own means, you use your partner for safety. At least, you bring out some of his limbs to stabilize your body and prevent slipping. Kind of freaky to look at, if anybody else was watching you. In fact, everything about where you are and what you’re doing is frankly very unsettling, now that you think about it.You’re glad you judged the vent’s dimensions correctly from the outside, or else you might not have any room to move or breathe. Then getting into the cult’s secret base would be the least of your worries! If you’re assuming right, this air vent system should be central enough to connect to every single place inside this factory – but that doesn’t matter now because you don’t know where you should be going! If you think about it, if you were one of these crazy doomsday cultists, you would try to keep your hideout as hidden as possible. In that case, you should try to go as low as possible, right? Underground should suffice; maybe the factory has a sub-basement perfect for cult activities? Deciding on this course of action, you begin your descent down this very dimly-lit claustrophobic path…Strangely, during your trip downwards into the depths of this place, you notice some marks on the metal that stand out from the rest. They are scribbles with some numbers and arrows – no doubt carved into the vent wall by somebody else that’s been through here. And if that’s true, then it seems you’re not the only one who had the idea to go after the Cult this way… You follow the directions with caution, hoping this mystery person wasn’t baiting you into a dead end…
>>3917127Eventually, you find yourself looking down into some kind of jail cell, with the vent’s cover already removed. The appearance of the room gives the impression of an indoor storm having happened – because the bars are bent, the ground has holes punched into it, and everything else is a total mess. You hear two sets of footsteps echoing from the area past the broken bars. Two cultists. And they seem to be nearing the room…“I can’t believe we’re the ones who are going to clean this mess… Can’t the world just end now or something?” Forgettable cultist 1 moans.“Just be thankful we don’t have to wear those robes anymore while cleaning crap!” Cultist 2 retorts.“Hey, speak for yourself! You might like lookin’ like a dirty hippie, but the druid style is where it’s really at.”“We looked like damn hobos. And nobody likes dirty hobos. Anyway, what happened to this place?” The second cultist asks, as the two of them stop where you can see them. This one talking is the black one, looking around at the damage.“This was WILDFLAME’s cell. He got himself free somehow.” The regular bored-looking first cultist points at the holes punched into the ground, which you now notice are literally punched in by fists!“And why did he trash the place?”“Dude, it’s WILDFLAME. Nothing he does makes any sense.” Cultist 1 shrugs and with a shovel starts moving the dirt around… “Just get to work already.”What do you do now?>Knock them out and sneak inside where they came from! >>3917488We know who the boss is, he's an Inigo Montoya lookalike who fucked Johnny's mom.
>>3917509Then the location of their boss? He does know someone can go invisible though from the sewer motorcycle scene. Catching him off-guard without his entity Chernabog protecting him in time might be very difficult, but difficult does not mean impossible. Look at some of the crazy shit you can do in stealth games or games with stealth mechanics. The question is if Johnny can get close enough to Ammirati without being caught or pasted in the process, and if he's willing to kill someone by spearing them straight in the heart while they have no way of fighting back in time
>>3917511Asking Bernie's location might be a better question, although I'm not sure if an unassuming mook would know something like that. Given how paranoid Bernie must be now that he knows he might be getting stalked by an invisible man, it might be a better idea to plan ahead before engaging him.

To assume that is to assume he summons Chernabog every time he hears a random noise
>>3917823I just hope that if we have the opportunity to stealth kill their leader that we'll have the heart to do it.

>>3917844We need something to push him to murder- more Philo maybe?
>>3917867He came pretty close to it with Kaz after Osgood's death.
>>3917870That's one of the scenes that makes me worry about Johnny not being able to kill him, he was face to face with the guy who killed one his best friends and he only wanted break his arms. There's also the fact that he knows exactly who killed his fucking mom but has held back on doing anything to him as well. I don't think Johnny would kill for something like revenge, even if it's for some close to him. The only situation where I can see him willing to do it is if someone he knows will die if he doesn't end him as opposed to doing it after it's too late
In one smooth sequence, you slide out of the vent while invisible, knock out the bored-looking guy with the broom instantly, and blindside tackle the other guy onto the floor, grabbing his neck! The double takedown was so clean, you even surprised yourself!Despite being invisible, you gain +1 Handsomeness point! Hooray! You’re over halfway there for next level.“Don’t move, and don’t be so loud.” You let the cloak effect drop from you. For all intents and purposes, they never knew what hit them, so they don’t know about your ability. Nothing here to worry about.“M-Mhm…!” The black cultist guy shivers in fear, staring wide-eyed at you. It's all dawning on him in these last few seconds. Part of you feels a small sense of enjoyment out of this…“Now speak.”“Speak what?” The cultist retorts, trying not to look at you a second time.“Tell me what I want to know.” Thinking he needs a little something, you shove him into the ground, but not hard at all.“W-What do you want to know…?” He glances back at you. Now you’ve got his full attention. But the innocent question disarms you, you not having thought of that. Uh… all power in a cult ultimately belongs to the leader, right? That’s a place to start asking!“Er… Where is your boss?”“W-Which one? The one from this facility, or the Final Emir?” The black guy blinks in confusion.“The Final Emir? You mean Ammirati?” Now he has a fancy title?! After all this time?!“Yeah, we just got rebranded for some reason… I think they said something about changing the public’s opinion, or close to it? They know what they’re doing.”“How can a doomsday cult have good publicity in the first place?” The question slips out of your mouth as you think it.“See, that’s the biggest misconception! It’s about being reborn into a new better world! All made from scratch, no previous things allowed!” As he says this, his eyes light up with something that makes your skin crawl. “It’ll be the greatest thing ever! Imagine being able to do everything all over again, but better this time! A genuine fresh start for everybody, not just us!”Shaking your head to dispel the bad feeling, you refocus on your questioning. “Where is Ammirati anyway?” If you take him down, the rest of the cult will go down too…“I don’t know! Only chancellors are permitted to know that information these days!”“Is your boss here one of the chancellors?”“I… I think so? Before, we knew who one of the big shots were if they didn’t have their cloak on. Now with the new order, I have no clue!”
>>3918065“C’mon, it can’t be that hard… Did he cover his face before?”“Yeah, he didn’t!”“Then he’s one of them…” A man who doesn’t bother to hide his identity. Either he’s seriously confident, or he’s brainwashed like the rest of them. Maybe worse. “Where is he?”“Floor above, office section, the one room that says ‘boss!’ It’s, like, dead center of the place!”There you go. Now you know where your next target is! But first…“…And what are you two doing down here anyway?” It’s still pretty gloomy and hard to see down here, since you returned your vision to normal after you left the vent.“Cleaning up…? I think the boss wants us to redecorate this whole factory to have a new place for new initiates. That’s my best guess. Please don’t hurt me, man. The other guy deserves it more, I’m sure of it – but I helped you! “No.” You knock him out with one precise strike. Hey, you’re getting good at this! Matilda would be proud!…You should stop mentally congratulating yourself and get going to the Chancellor Room already. You once again take the safe approach and sneak out invisibly, following this poor dude’s directions. Directly on the floor above WILDFLAME’s cell, you spot small congregations of robed followers arranged in small circles with pillows on the ground for everyone to sit on. In the center of each circle there is some kind of speaker, using very similar clothes to the others but fancier. This whole dimly-lit part of the factory is completely devoid of anything else otherwise, and all the other cells are barren with nobody in them. It would be very spooky down here without these cultists around…The speakers are making the followers perform some weird chanting. Unlike the two losers you have just beaten, some of the followers are using regular clothes with the cult’s new bead chain. Anyway, some parts of the place haven’t been remodeled since it stopped being the 1-Plus Factory, so you follow the old signs to the office section. Taking no chances of there being more cultists wandering the place, you keep your cloaking effect active as you sneak towards your goal…Without knowing if it’s a good idea or not, you enter the office section by the door. Why? ‘Cause you haven’t seen a single soul around since you traversed the main space down here! To your surprise, this section resembles an old office from old movies from decades ago. No computers, documents and such – but empty desks, lamps, and other boxes and trash laying around. There is no sound at all, and the pure silence is disturbing…You’re starting to feel the effects of prolonged usage of your ability, but nothing you can’t endure. Almost like a mild headache amidst a heat wave. It’s summer after all, so go figure. You walk through the rows of empty cubicles towards the boss room. Once outside, you can hear a little chatter inside. The small window on the door reveals some silhouettes when you get close enough to take a look. You can distinguish a couple of shadows, four to be exact, all standing next to each other in a straight row. The way their silhouettes appear reminds you of soldiers in the army, standing at attention. You assume they are talking to someone, so there should be a total of five people inside. If there is anybody else there that isn’t speaking or standing up, you can’t make them out.

To consume as little energy as possible, you hide between the tables and wait for the opportunity to sneak inside. You want to be alone with this chancellor guy. If you look at it a certain way, this is a good opportunity to recharge your batteries, so to speak.Based on you checking your phone clock, it took nearly an hour, but the door finally opens! Four regular cultists (even one without a uniform) leave the room together, all smiles. They walk past you without even looking around, and leave the office once and for all. Since they left the door wide open, you take the chance to put your camouflage up and sneak inside the head office…This place looks nothing like an office! Colored curtains, decorations, furniture… It’s more like a fortune teller’s tent or something equally as fishy and gaudy! It even has a damn crystal ball dead center of the table! It has a laptop on it too, ruining the entire aesthetic.Hold on, this isn’t why you came here! You’re in search of this Chancellor guy! Well, there is someone sitting on the other side of the table and who looks like a big deal. Rather, his appearance makes him out to be a big deal, having the fanciest outfit you have seen on any of these cultists so far! He doesn’t have a flame either! He’s distracted cutting his nails…Everything about this man screams that he’s a chump and an easy target for your cloaked self…What do you do?>Keep being invisible and grab him by the throat. A little intimidation is needed first.>Appear next to him and grab him by the neck. Make him answer your questions.>Talk to him while invisible. Do what you did to Joel before. Intimidate without force.>Steal the laptop and leave! Your power will consider it part of you and cloak it too!>Write In.
>>3918308>>Write In.Sneakadly type messages to him on his computer, and whisper of danger into his ear. He wants to be a fortune teller, he'll get his wish of contacting something.
>>3918253You're pretty good.
>>3918308>>Talk to him while invisible. Do what you did to Joel before. Intimidate without force.Pretend to be Chernabog or something giving him a message. >>3918308>Talk to him while invisible. Do what you did to Joel before. Intimidate without force.Pretend to be an entity. Theatricality and deception are powerful agents, after all.
>>3918317I don't think Johnny can change his voice to be Chernobog's or suitably deep and menacing. Maybe if Philo possesses him, he can pull it off?

You decide to talk to him while invisible, using intimidation without force! You’ll try to… err... pretend you’re an entity! That’s totally going to work, right?“Son of man… I’ve come to bargain.” You say in an ominous deep voice.“Gah! Who’s there?!” The man immediately jumps from his seat, head looking every which way.“I’m Prince Ipos, and I don’t see a better man I could use from your forces than thee.”“What?! A demon has come for my assistance yet again?!” The Chancellor’s fear becomes jubilation. “I won’t reject your offer this time, demon! I’m Chancellor Hubbard! But I have to ask, are you in favor of lord Chernobog’s aspirations…?!”“I come from hell itself, human. I’ve seen past, present, and future. All timelines lead to the same fate. One I want to participate in. But I need to clarify some things first, before I can link with thee. I need to trust thee…” Yesssssss…“W-Woah! So you’re an observer of the timelines as well, Ipos? What is it that you want to know? I’ll talk as much as you like!” The giggity old man is falling for your tricks a bit too easily… You don’t mind though.“So this alliance, this little cult of yours… Is this all under your command?”“Only this section, Prince! As the weakest of the Chancellors, I have the task of brainwashing the populace and future prospects for the war. My ability lets me perceive possible hosts for demons like yourself! Well, the weakest one until today!” Chancellor Hubbard is already thinking ahead. Smart of an idiot like him.“That’s quite disappointing, human…”“Indeed, but I’ll rise up the ranks with your help! Just having a demon under my control will greatly boost my position. I’ll become the Final Emir’s right hand man in no time!”“Where is this Final Emir you speak of…?”“Hmm… I assume you’re not up to date with our human culture, especially if you are a recent arrival… But let’s call the place the Dark Church!”“…That is wholly uninspired.”“W-Well… I enjoy the straightforwardness.” Hubbard continues to trim his nail, then suddenly stops. He drops his nail clipper, looking at his hands, mumbling to himself. “Hold on a second… I’m not asleep…” Then he leaps up to his feet! “W-Who am I talking to?! Show yourself!”You immediately grab him by the throat! “I really like how chatty you were. Keep talking, or else I’m going to have to take some extreme measures…”“Gggh…!” A red-faced Chancellor Hubbard is fuming with hatred! “…Foolish human. You’ve no idea who you are messing with!”“Yeah; a dead man, if you don’t talk…”“A proud dead man, you will say.” He won’t talk anymore! For being such a moron, he won’t back down!
>>3918420What do you do?!>“One last chance, Chancellor. Tell me what I need to know, or I’ll make you suffer harder than your stupid ‘god of distraction’ can ever hope to do to you.”>“Look, you can keep talking and nothing bad will happen, or I’ll leak everything you just told me to the public. I don’t want to imagine what your superiors will do to you when they find out.”>Say nothing and begin to beat this old man to a fancy self-indulgent pulp! Let’s see how much courage he has left after a little… physical convincing.>Leave. While this information is enough, you’ll find a way to know where the Dark Church is later. They must have other bases and hideaways out there in the city…>Write In.(Last Reply of the day, we continue tomorrow.)

>>3918423>>“Look, you can keep talking and nothing bad will happen, or I’ll leak everything you just told me to the public. I don’t want to imagine what your superiors will do to you when they find out.”He seems loyal so physical violence won't get him to talk but if we can convince this idiot that talking is in the Cult's best interests than we might be able to get something out of him
>>3918423>Say nothing and begin to beat this old man to a fancy self-indulgent pulp! Let’s see how much courage he has left after a little… physical convincing. If we beat him hard enough, he'll squeal.

>>3918423>“Look, you can keep talking and nothing bad will happen, or I’ll leak everything you just told me to the public. I don’t want to imagine what your superiors will do to you when they find out.”We want to get as much info as we can put of this guy but at the same time the cult leader wouldn't make him a chancellor if he would give cough up all the information from a little force
>>3918423>“Look, you can keep talking and nothing bad will happen, or I’ll leak everything you just told me to the public. I don’t want to imagine what your superiors will do to you when they find out.”Even if the normals won't believe it, those in the war will.
>>3918423>“Look, you can keep talking and nothing bad will happen, or I’ll leak everything you just told me to the public. I don’t want to imagine what your superiors will do to you when they find out.”Use loyalty instead of violence. This way we put the fear in him. If he won't fear us, he'll fear Ammirati's wrath instead.
“Look, you can keep talking and nothing bad will happen, or I’ll leak everything you just told me to the public. I don’t want to imagine what your superiors will do to you when they find out.” You play this card in response. He fears those above him, doesn’t he?“I’m here by principle, son! If I have to take punishment for my lapse of judgment, so be it. But dooming this organization? Out of the question!” Chancellor Hubbard is far more loyal than what his appearance shows! Guess you shouldn’t judge a book by his cover… “Now human, it’s time for you to perish!”Hubbard pulls out a small knife from his sleeve and jumps to attack you! It was so easily telegraphed and so poorly aimed, he missed completely. He didn’t even come close to hitting you! The idiot chancellor collapses to the ground and starts flailing with the dagger in a desperate move to repel you away from him. Predicting his movement pattern, you kick his hand hard and send the knife flying into a corner!“Gah!” The old man yells in fear, clutching his injured hand to his chest. “I-I knew I should’ve installed an alarm inside this office…”…?>Knock him out and seize the laptop! Then quickly search the room for other pieces of useful information. Every little bit helps!>“One last chance, old man. Tell me what I want to know, or I’ll guarantee the only new world you’ll get to see is a world of pain.”>Begin beating the devil out of him! You start kicking the old man while he’s down! Maybe if you soften him up, you’ll get proper answers out of him. Some stomps on the body as well, but not hard enough to break anything. Whatever you do, you don’t want him having internal bleeding or anything seriously life-threatening. You are not sure if this is the type of method you like employing, but you know for certain that this guy is despicable if he’s willingly in a cult that openly preaches the end of the world, and does whatever it can to brainwash and ensnare the people that fall for joining it. Any unease or reticence you might have felt doing this to an elderly man melts away with each vicious strike you deal him.“Gaaah!” The man groans out a scream, this one subdued after all the other pained noises he’s let out during your ‘convincing.’“Last chance, punk.” You threaten the Chancellor again once his scream dies down, just to make sure he hears you. “Talk. Now.” You’re done playing around.“Blehehe… N-Not interested…” The bruised old man smirks, unfazed by the damage you piled on him. “You’re wastin’ time you don’t have, kid…”How infuriatingly stubborn. Without wasting a second longer, you snap a controlled kick to the Chancellor’s head and knock him out! Now you seize the laptop and start examining the office for pieces of useful information. Oh, and you shatter that fake crystal ball into smithereens too, because fuck him and fuck his stupid death cult. You search around and around for more stuff that can be useful, but you only find worthless books on the shelves. ‘Tarot for Beginners,’ ‘Your Cult and You,’ and ‘How to Middle Management’ are only three of many many volumes of beginner level garbage in this room. Frustrated, you send a bunch of books flying off the shelves and raining down on the unconscious Chancellor! Absolutely worthless! Utter trash! And this old fleabag is supposed to be one of the lower-ranking bosses of this faction? These guys are supposed to be the enemy to you and the whole world? You are starting to get the impression that Ammirati is the only real threat out of all of them, and that might not be far from the mark…Guess your only prize for coming here is this shitty laptop. Hooray, more computers to crack and decipher for you. Just great…Out of nowhere, you hear footsteps drawing near from the section with the cubicles outside! In seconds, your whole body is cloaked invisible again. One cultist opens the door to this office, and quickly realizes something awful happened to their precious Chancellor! He flees out of the room, and you hear him calling for backup on a phone! Since he left the door open, you take your chance to escape with the laptop in your arms. Fortunately, your hunch was right; the laptop is also covered by your power’s cloaking effect. That’s one less problem to worry about.

>>3919784>Look for the nearest exit you can find! It’s mild panic mode! Just follow the exit signs! [Normal Roll]The factory should still have them, and I doubt the cult would bother to remove every single one from the place. If they're gonna have people or initiates in here, they still need to have proper evac procedures in case they ever get raided by cops or the government. And that's our ticket out of this place.

Ignoring how the entire facility is beginning to panic right this second, you start walking away from it all, easily dodging through the followers entering the room to help your incapacitated victim. Nobody notices your cloaked form flickering or blurring, thankfully. To your surprise, it seems most of the cultists being gathered outside the door you’re currently leaving are just here to see what’s going on. While everybody is busy with the commotion, you spot a handful of robed people quietly turn and walk away from the others. They must be people who weren’t fully convinced to join the cult and weren’t brainwashed yet. Now that they’re taking their chance to leave it for good, you follow their lead to the nearest exit! Going up some stairs, going through some random corridors, and straight to liberty! No need to follow the signs after all!Nearly a dozen lost prospects depart the premises, not knowing you are among them unseen! A cursory look around you reveals you’re at main entrance, and the fleeing ex-cultists start to scatter away from the building. Half of them are making a beeline towards where you know the nearest subway station is, while the other half split off in three pairs going different directions. Left alone, you can’t help sighing loudly and letting the tension ebb away from you. Your head starts to ache, your stomach begins to churn, and your vision blurs for a brief moment… That’s your own cue to go home. You gain +1 Athletics points for enduring the pain and nausea of your ability’s backlash! And +2 Courage points for accomplishing a solo mission!
>>3919886Once a couple of blocks away from the facility, safe in an alley where nobody will find you, you turn your optic camouflage off and put your back to the wall – slowly letting yourself slide down to the ground, clutching your pulsing head with your free hand and taking deep breaths. Your legs were giving up, you were shaking this whole time, and every step made you feel like you were going to throw up on the street any second. In your mind you were confident, but this is still something new to you.“Good job, partner.” Philonune congratulates you for a mission well accomplished. You take another deep breath, the side effects of your power already fading away. “Yeah…” You fumble for a moment, taking out your phone to inform Scarlet of your victory. “It was a lot easier than I thought. We just climbed in and walked out. Barely any guards.”“A master makes the weapon’s use look easy to the untrained eye.”“But that would make me the master, and… Ugh, forget it…” Shaking your head, you look up and give your floating flame ally a smile behind your mask. “Good job too, partner.”Philonune returns your smile with his own characteristic smirk. “Always here to help. Now that machine, what do you think it could get us…?” He floats down to look closer at it.“Hopefully not shitty self-help books…”As you two stare at the laptop you recovered, the sun begins to set…That’s all we have for this thread! Thanks for playing!
