Hello and welcome back to Synthetic Gods Quest.Twitter: https://twitter.com/Hivemind_ChanArchives: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Synthetic%20Gods%20QuestRules and gameplay mechanics: https://pastebin.com/jcac0p9DCurrent inventory: https://pastebin.com/gyZLMiNGCurrent infrastructure: https://pastebin.com/i42ACWMsPreviously mentioned individuals: https://pastebin.com/LUJ5fyqAPlayer suggested project tracker: https://pastebin.com/BzmXGRhq_________________________________________________________ In the last session we finished with all of the preparations for our birthday. Luckily, we cooked a bigger cake since Nike’ unexpectedly brought one of her Cup Bearers along. Apparently, she wanted to place one of her most promising Muses of Courage under our command for several years as a gift. We decided that it would be in our best interests to accept her and we invited her to participate in the celebration. At first, our mortal companions didn’t feel comfortable in the presence of a goddess, but eventually the ice broke and you’ve managed to participate in a few discussions on such subjects as nostalgia and family. Haven had decided to gift us one of her family’s most treasured artifacts, a bracelet that was given to her family by their patron deity Rozen. Sigrid brought a book of her homeland’s stories and myths while Rheia hand crafted a set of various dice. Eventually, the time has come for the birthday cake and a wish. After all, we were turning 29… or 2097 depending on whether you want to count the time spent in stasis.
>>3890030With the wish made and the candles blown, the cake can be finally enjoyed. You removed the candles to a separate plate on the side and carefully cut the cake into twelve equal pieces, two for each person present. Using your powers, it was so much easier and quicker to place the pieces on the plates without deforming them and in less than a minute everyone had their piece. By the now ancient tradition, the first taste of the cake was left to you. And you have to admit, the cake has exceeded your expectations. It was sweet, but not too sweet, the cream was a little heavy, but you’ve added some thinly grated dried fruit into it which added some extra flavor. The fresh fruit introduced some well needed refreshing taste to the heavier cream. So, all in all, you consider your first cake an outstanding success. Rheia and Sigrid have never tasted something like that, while Haven has tried some cakes during her childhood, but she thinks that your cake is definitely the best. Nika very much enjoys her piece and her Muse compliments your cooking. With the desert done, you note that it is almost 4 am outside. Still pretty dark but it is around the time that you’ve planned for the fireworks. An hour later and it would not be dark enough for the launch, and you expect that many of the villagers have planned to see them as well. So, you and your friends head out to just outside of the inner northern wall as you go a bit further away to set up the firework mortars. While you were preparing, the villagers have already assembled in front of and on the walls to see the spectacle. You light up the one-minute fuse and run to the safe distance. It’s show time!>Roll 1d20 for the event
Rolled 3 (1d20)>>3890033Nice, let's wistfully look at them>roll a 1>set fire to the village
Rolled 7 (1d20)>>3890033
Rolled 12 (1d20)>>3890033
>>3890041nic, now no more rolls, a 1 would set the forest on fire
>>3890042Hopefully is enough to have a good time and a good show.Want to see Haven an Rheia's face during it, must be something new, don't know is Sig has seen it before too.
>>3890056You watch as the fire travels down the cord to a battery of different bronze tubes fitted on a housing that is dug into the ground. Just in case something goes bad you’ve prepared several barrels full of water and you positioned yourself half of the way between the fireworks and your audience so that you could extinguish any accidental fires. Modern fireworks require high precision and quality of materials, but in your case, you have to deal with relatively poor quality of materials so there is a bigger risk involved. The fire reaches a hole at the base of the housing and splits into several smaller flames that travel across the smaller cords to each of the barrels. Each barrel has a precisely measured piece of slowly burning material that acts like a timer which you used to program the firing sequence. However, the fire slowly fizzles out for about a minute. You wonder if the ignition failed, but it is dangerous to approach live fireworks in this case. They can go off at any moment…You hear a dull *blam* as one of the first mortars fires a shell into the sky painting it with sparks of bright yellow. Another one fires and spreads into a chrysanthemum pattern of blue and bright yellow. Then several of the willow shells paint the sky with their bright orange. You can hear the sounds of astonishment and wonder coming from the villagers. With some delay other shells also start firing into the sky and it seemed that all is going to plan….Until one of the rockets planned for late game ignites in the chamber and shoots off a thick sheaf of sparks in a wide cone above it which ignites the nearby grass and messes up the delays causing most of the remaining shells to either fire almost immediately or malfunction and blow up in their housings. The biggest shell, that miniature sun, manages to fire successfully illuminating the field like a bright flare for a few moments. Well, it didn’t go as planned, but you think it was not too bad. Once the crackling of malfunctioned shells ceased you started dealing with the fires by throwing the water from the nearby barrels into the grass fire which solved the problem relatively quickly.
>>3890108But all good things have to end at some point, and this time the point came along with some friends. You’ve managed to pick up an echoing sound coming from the forest. It was a weird bubbling roar in response to which you’ve heard several loud howls coming from different areas of the forest in the distance. Well, shit…The people haven’t noticed the issue yet, but you could clearly hear around a dozen of giant wolves approaching the area from the north and north- east and many more howls echoing deeper in the forest. Unfortunately, you can’t pick up the original sound since it didn’t repeat and it came from too deep in the forest to the north. You note that you have around five minutes before the first wolves from this wave hit the outer perimeter, so you drop everything and sprint back towards the villagers. For some reason, sprinting was your first reaction even though you can clearly fly, but then again you are pretty fast with your legs and you haven’t really flown enough for it to be a subconscious reaction.Nike’ notices the sound as well along with your reaction and she along with Mina start rallying your people back to the safety of the inner walls. The guards start setting up their Scorpios on the walls while all hunters, both the ones staying in Farsalos and your friends, sprint back to grab their gear. Technically, you have your artifact sword with you, but you have basically no armor or other weapons on you at the moment. You should manage to deal with the wolves with bare hands if you needed to. What should you do next?Roll 1d20 for encounter and pick the action>Pull your sword and prepare to meet the first wave alone for now>Gloves off, use TK at will and pulverize whatever makes its way into the outer perimeter with the power of your mind>Sprint back to grab your weapons. No time for the armor, you’d barely make it back when the wave hits>Fly back and grab all of your stuff. With TK you can get into your armor pretty quickly, but the new hunters haven’t seen your powers yet>Other?Nike’ and Mina’s response:>Tell them to participate if they wish, they can decide by themselves>Ask them to sit this one out, even if you get fucked up you still got this>Ask them to participate but without dropping the masks>Tell them that you don’t think it is viable to maintain the masks now, they can drop the illusion and go all out
>>3890111>>Pull your sword and prepare to meet the first wave alone for nowgive the others time to gear up>>Tell them to participate if they wish, they can decide by themselvesnike has experience with this stuff, she should know what she can try without getting seen
>>3890111>>Gloves off, use TK at will and pulverize whatever makes its way into the outer perimeter with the power of your mindthey are not fucking up our birthdaywhen our friends arrive back we can pull the sword

>>3890111>Gloves off, use TK at will and pulverize whatever makes its way into the outer perimeter with the power of your mind>Ask them to participate but without dropping the masks
>>3890111Start with>Gloves off, use TK at will and pulverize whatever makes its way into the outer perimeter with the power of your mindWhile Sig and Haven go get their stuff to thin their numbers when they are back we>Pull your sword and prepare to meet the first wave alone for nowSo we can have some fun with Sig, make sure to keep her and Haven oir of harms way, use TK to hold wolves if necessary.>Tell them to participate if they wish, they can decide by themselvesIt's probably childs play for them but invite them anyway."I swear I didn't plan on an exercise, shall we take these party crashers out? The party is not over yet."

>>3890152>>3890151>>3890146>>3890144Lol, we kill and make the wolves flee before anyone arrives back."Sorry, false alarm, let's head to the sauna to relax."
>>3890152>>3890151>>3890146>>3890144Welp, that's the SGQ dice for you. We suck at mundane things (fireworks was an "easy" roll) but we kick ass if it is anything close to serious

>>3890156its the shonen protag problem: sucks in general, but by god don't come beteween her and her friends/family/community
>>3890160yup, those triple 20s against madgoddess were definetly shonen protag territory
>>3890164You are not going to let those monsters ruin your birthday, and since basically everyone here knows who you are you can forgo holding back. You approach Nike’ and tell her that you honestly haven’t planned this exercise, but if she wants, she can participate in dealing with the party crashers. After all, it is not like the party’s over. She replies that she thinks you’ve got that covered, but she would take part if she thinks that it would be needed. Her Muse would stay with the villagers just in case. You nod and float up to the middle of the field hanging about a meter above ground which gives you some vantage point. The first of the wolves impact the outer defenses, but the wood manages to hold even if it is getting damaged. In just a few moments these massive creatures grapple the top edge of the palisade with their front claws without even having to jump, after which they threw their bodies across the obstacle with little difficulty. Some of them get damaged when they fall on the peaks on the top of the palisade logs, but they behave as if they feel little in terms of pain. Their bodies awkwardly flop on the inner side of the palisade after which they get up and continue to run towards the inner walls. Before they get close enough to you, the militia defenders fire off a volley of bolts from their Scorpios. Most of them either miss or impact the thick hide which at this range is not enough to wound these creatures sufficiently. However, one of the bolts nails the foremost wolf in the eye penetrating the thin layer of bone and entering the brain which nearly instantly killed the creature. But now the wolves have entered the danger zone. With a flick of the wrist the closest monster to you collapses into a ball with a blood curdling sound of breaking bones before being flung outside the village boundaries like a basketball. Another is crushed into the ground turning into a pile of bones and fur thoroughly mixed with chunky salsa after which its bones get lifted up and propelled all the way through its fellow’s body nearby killing it instantly.
>>3890297This manages to scare the remaining wolves which rapidly turn around and attempt to flee while making weirdly dog- like whining noises. You almost feel bad for them as they now struggle to scale up the palisade wall and flee into the depths of the forest. The bubbling roar from the forest depths causes them to hesitate, but after taking another look in your direction they completely break and flee. As their noises grow fainter, the approaching sounds of new enemies cease after which they also start growing fainter. Well, that was anticlimactic, and somewhat disconcerting. Can monsters feel fear? Are those things even real monsters or maybe just animals that are controlled to attack people? What was that noise from the depths of the forest? Did it command these wolves? Would they return? In any case, judging by the sounds, the other waves of attackers also fled in terror and it is unlikely that they’d attempt this again anytime soon.Nika approaches you, sees your concern and says: “Don’t worry, you’d grow desensitized to such things eventually. For some reason some monsters can look or act in ways that make them look like normal living creatures or even people and not just as machines made to cause human suffering that they are. Actually, something like this is relatively common. For some yet unknown reason wild animals can rarely give birth to creatures that grow far beyond their normal size, gain some features that their progenitors don’t possess and usually they become hyper aggressive but only towards people. You can meet giant boars, wolves, bears, deer, certain sea creatures, sometimes even birds, insects and many others. They can also spawn other giant animals of the same type as them, but they appear much less often once the area is cleared from the majority of other monsters and they almost never appear among domesticated or tamed animals.”Sig, Haven and the other hunters run out of the gates but stop seeing only a few remains and no remaining threats. Sig laughs and says “Oh wow, this ended way too quickly”, the other hunters have no idea what’s going on, but they saw you hovering in midair for a few moments as well as hearing the sounds of your fight. You and Nika head to the arrived hunters and you tell Sig and Haven: “Well, I guess it is false alarm now. Let’s continue with the party.”>Maybe we should go to the sauna next? You need to soak for a bit.>Rheia worked hard for those dice, maybe you could improvise some tabletop game? You used to DM on some forum game once or twice>It’s about time to bust out the alcohol. >>3890308>Maybe we should go to the sauna next? You need to soak for a bit.Try not to ogle naked bodies, fail miserably.>>3890314Yes>>3890320Give whatever food is left from the party to them and the villagers, have the militia leader distrobute it while we head inside with our friends
>>3890308>>3890314Supporting, let's start the party
>>3890398You kind of feel bad for the hunters and the militia members that had to be shaken up at 5 am due to your fireworks, so you decided that it would be a nice idea to share some of the food you had left. You’ve got a bit carried away and you prepared way too much of it. Like, more than what you and your guests could eat in a week level of too much. Not enough to feed the entire village, but more than enough to share with a few people. You were not sure how much you or Nike’ could eat and you wanted to make sure that you have enough for everyone just in case people end up a bit picky. After all, it is not like you’d waste any food if you would share it afterwards. Thus, before the other hunters could voice anything, you tell them that you appreciate their willingness to help with the monsters and thus you are going to share some meals and pastries with them. Something similar applies to the village militia, which is appropriate since their leader was running out of the gates towards you to ask what the hell has just happened. You tell him that all militia members will get basically the rest of the food that you have prepared for the party. Militia can share it with whoever they want, but the food is prepared and perishable so it can’t be stored. They are free to share with whoever they want and their leader is tasked with distributing it. Village militia leader’s name is Amythos, by the way. He is a guy in his late 40s and if you remember correctly, he used to be some kind of lower officer in Ceno army before he decided to leave and settle somewhere quiet with his soon to be wife. Unfortunately, she didn’t wait for him during almost 17 years of service so he decided that he’d find someone eventually and he ended up here. He is one of the new guys, he has only recently moved into Farsalos among the first migrant wave and he is one of the wealthier villagers due to the savings he has made during his service. Ceno military is mostly volunteer professional army and while they have some increasing benefits for long service, you can leave at any point as long as there is no active war going on and if you do that officially and hand in the gear that was provided by the government. The drafts are very extreme measures and are usually compensated accordingly. He has been somewhat conflicted about your nature but he can’t really argue with what you provide to the village and he was the guy who was concerned for your wellbeing back when you went into the forest to find the abducted miners. You think that he would do fine with this request.
>>3890734First you give the meals to the hunters whom you allow to pick what they’d want within reasonable limits. So, stuff like a couple meals, some pastries and a few drinks from the cheaper alcohols you had in store. After than you’ve asked what your guests would like for lunch for the next day and after that you stored what you wanted to keep and some things that weren’t perishable like candy but everything else that would spoil was given away to the militia. As you might have guessed, they shared it among themselves, with their family members, village children and closest friends turning it into a small party in of itself. With that dealt with, you decided that you’d prefer a strong drink and a soak which you suggested to your guests which weren’t against it. Technically Rheia is old enough to drink in these lands, but you’d still limit her to the less alcoholic beverages just in case which she doesn’t object to. Your home does include a sauna so you decided to just hang out in your place and not go to the public bathhouse. It takes just over an hour to get the room up to temperature but after it is done you and your guests pile in and you take a look in your alcohol collection to see what you’d like to start with…>Ceno made red wine: alcohol produced in this country. Technically it is intended to be diluted, but eh, it is not like you’d get drunk anyway>Platania mead: alcohol created by the apiarists of the Platania Polis. It smells sweet>Ethean beer: an actual barrel of beer that you’ve managed to get during your last trip. Smell suggests that it is the real beer, not the piss- like ale substance consumed en-masse in Ceno > Dwarven “wine”: purple colored alcohol processed from a type of commonly cultivated mushroom. Low powered and cheap, but has an interesting taste>Dwarven “hardened ale”: ale- like beverage made from some relatively common plants cultivated in their holds and later distilled to increase the kick.> Dwarven “Quarry cider”: light brown thick and non- transparent liquid made out of the quarry nuts. It has a strange nutty and creamy smell that reminds you of Nutella more than actual alcohol>Dwarven mead: not technically mead, more like a devilish mix of heavily distilled alcohol, several types of plant-based concoctions from all over the dwarven territories and the mead made from healing honey. Highly potent and has powerful hallucinogenic properties, which luckily don’t work on you. This is what finished you last time you went to the dwarven city>Other?
>>3890742>>Platania mead: alcohol created by the apiarists of the Platania Polis. It smells sweetit shouldn't be to strong for those who aren't used to it and it sounds awesome in any case, just keep an eye on haven and rheia
>>3890742>Platania mead: alcohol created by the apiarists of the Platania Polis. It smells sweet>Ethean beer: an actual barrel of beer that you’ve managed to get during your last trip. Smell suggests that it is the real beer, not the piss- like ale substance consumed en-masse in CenoBoth seem good
>>3890742> Dwarven “Quarry cider”: light brown thick and non- transparent liquid made out of the quarry nuts. It smells sweetSomething sweet to get Haven to losen up, just don't let her knock herself out
>>3890833You take a couple bottles of Platania mead that you’ve grabbed on your way back from meeting Nike’s oracle. You’ve always wanted to try some real mead and it seems to be on the weaker side of the alcohols that you have so it might go well for Haven and Rheia. For a similar reason you take some Ethean beer as well. You also decide to grab a bottle of the quarry cider since you are curious what it tastes like as well as a mix of salted nuts that you’ve prepared for such an occasion. Nike’ helps herself with a bottle of Ethean beer as well while Sigrid grabs dwarven hardened ale. She is a bit more resistant to alcohol than your other non- godlike followers after all. Mina only pours herself some of the non- alcohol beverages you had and Haven with Rheia decided to trust your choice. You remember that once in your childhood you went to Finland for about a week for Christmas holidays with your parents and the room you were staying in had a tiny sauna with a small window leading to the street outside. It was incredibly cozy and that’s the feeling you tried to go for in your own sauna. It is a bit bigger and you can’t have a window outside without window glass, but you think that you came pretty close to what you wanted. With six people in it the room is almost at its capacity but it doesn’t feel that crowded. Nike’ even managed to lie down on the lower level of the wooden bench where the air is a little hotter while you took a seat at the second layer with Haven and Rheia. Sig and Mina took seats on the further sides near to the walls of the sauna. After sharing your bottles, you decided to take a sip from that quarry nut booze and it is nothing like what you’ve expected. The taste is mildly sweet, creamy and nutty but it is still definitely alcohol. It very distantly reminds you of cream liquors that you have never tried but you for some reason remember how they are supposed to taste. Overall, you'd say that this drink is definitely for its own group, but you think that you kind of like it.Haven decides to go for some beer herself which is not really surprising. Teryia is relatively close to Platania and the elven capital has a direct access for the dwarves so she went for something that she couldn’t try often. She drinks slowly trying to judge how drunk she gets, but judging by her previous performance, she won’t be here if she gets to about a half of the second bottle. Rheia decides to try some beer first, but she doesn’t seem to like it due to its bitter taste. She likes mead more but not much so and, in the end, she decides to just pour herself some of the stewed fruit. Well, some people say that drinking alcohol is acquired taste so if she doesn’t feel like it, she doesn’t have to participate.
>>3891140You and Nike’ end up chatting a bit about alcohols. She also has that thing where she can’t get drunk but the dwarven mead once knocked her out as well. She personally is not a fan of the sweet alcohols and she doesn’t really see the point in strong liquors if she can’t feel the buzz, but she stays clear of that dwarven mead since it would not look too great for a goddess to be found wasted somewhere. You talk a little with Mina about herself and she seems a bit shy about that. She says that she used to be a daughter of a peasant whose ancestors lost the lower noble position but she managed to inherit relatively powerful talent for magic. In particular, she was good at enhancing her body to be stronger, faster and more agile. Back then she could only do that for less than a minute at most, but it was enough to protect her village on numerous occasions back when she was still a youngster. Eventually she ended up enrolling into one of the hero universities and becoming a monster huntress. Around three years ago she hotheadedly decided to participate in a subjugation of a monster that no one knew anything about and Nike’ joined her group undercover. The creature ended up too powerful and Mina wanted to repay for her hubris by sacrificing herself in a last stand against the monster. Nike’ saved her at the very last moment, healed her up to good health and offered to train her for a position of a Muse. She was initiated as a Muse of Courage less than a month ago and she still doubts if she is worthy for such a monumental task of assisting a new goddess.Nike’ speaks up and tells you in English: “Mina is honestly a really good girl, but she has some minor issues with confidence. That foe I saved her from, it was something akin to what you described your first monster kill to be. As a mortal she survived for 18 minutes against a creature that could be described as having a disposition of a chainsaw strapped to a ceiling fan. Most people would live for about a few seconds in that situation even if trained and in full armor. She only started losing from the strain her powers were having on her mind and body. Honestly, she impressed me then and continued to do so again and again during her training with her talent and motivation.”
>>3891153In the meantime, Haven was chatting with Sigrid about something related to how she thinks that there has to be some kind of monster king ordering some of the local creatures to attack Farsalos but eventually she drinks too much and the genuinely interesting dialogue degrades to Haven’s giggles and barely coherent rambling before she passes out on your shoulder. Sig laughs, slightly drunk herself, and you help Haven onto your back before carrying her to her guest room as your Viking friend also decides to retire before she does something stupid. Rheia mostly listens but eventually she gets too tired and keeps dozing off so you have to send her to sleep. It was around 7 am after all, way past the time she usually goes to sleep. With only Nike’ and her Muse left, you drink another couple of beers and after that you think that you can consider it as your birthday party’s end. Nike’ decides to take a nap and Mina volunteers to keep an eye on the village just in case. You remember how back when you were a child you felt sad that the birthdays had to end, and in your adulthood, you didn’t really have birthdays. Today, you think that it is ok for the party to end at this note. Everything good ends someday and you can’t party forever. Heh, looks like it only took two millennia for you to finally grow up. Tomorrow you’ll all start with some great meal and head forward into the bright future that lies ahead..._______________________________________________And on that note, we’ll have to end for today. Next week's game will continue here as usual. I hope you’ve enjoyed the experience and feel free to give suggestions, ask questions and discuss.
>>3891159Thanks for running, really liked the birthday and getting to know more about the girls and getting closer to them. How long do we have until the meeting with Elps?
>>3891165The date is not yet set, but let's say that Nike' informed us that the cup healer would arrive in a couple of days and she would message you when she could arrange the meeting with Elspeth after that point. You expect to have several weeks, maybe up to a month. She is the head goddess after all and it is a very busy position. Plus Nike' thinks that she would like to keep the reason for the meeting a secret since she wants to see Elspeth's reaction so she doesn't want to bump up the priority of this request by just outright declaring your existence. If you want, it would be important enough for Elspeth to arrive within a day, or maybe even a few hours.
>>3891159thank you for running and have a great weeki have to say i really enjoyed this brithday party you wrote, well done>>3891165iirc its a week after our birthday, i thought we either try to make the labyrinth area close to the entrance safer or we prapare the ways to the nearest city to be both safer and better build>>3891183nah, let Nike do it in a way that works best, we aren't in a hurry
>>3891159Thanks for running, we will have to remind Haven how she slept and we carried her to her room so she will be blushing up her ears kek.>>3891183Let Nike do her thing, she came through for us more then once now and I want to see Elspeth reaction too.I'm realling liking Nike, she has grown on me these last couple situations we had to deal with.Tell her that if she ever needs something she should not hesitate to ask us before she leaves.
>>3891187I'd like to secure the way to the future dark elf refugee city, I think that is the most difficult task around here and the one that could use our personal touch the most.Or even investigate that moster that was commabding the other wolves, if there is really such a thing we should kill it before they overrun the villagers en masse
>>3891159With the party over and all of your friends tired and in their beds, you decided that you don’t really feel that sleepy so you end up going out for a walk around the village. You get out of the front door of your house, yawn and stretch. While you have roughly a million different things that you could be doing, you don’t think that you'd want to touch anything big for now. Not just because you feel a little lazy but also because most of the village is waking up late due to your firework thing and you don’t want to wake anyone up with construction noises. So, you end up spending a few hours enjoying the quiet morning and, in the meantime, making sure that everything is in order.Your morning stroll ends up taking you outside of the gates and towards the place where you set off your fireworks. It looks like your performance yesterday thoroughly discouraged any further attacks and the only reminders of the mess are several mangled corpses of the giant wolves and your firework mortar. The more intact wolf body was already recovered by the villagers, but the ones that were plastered by you are way beyond being useful. The damage is too extensive to use their bones or hides while their meat is foul tasting in general and it is already starting to rot so you quickly scoop the bodies up with telekinesis and dump them into the refuse pit where they belong. Then you return to your mortar and investigate what went wrong yesterday. The intense reactions of fireworks going off in relatively thin bronze pipes deformed the mortar housings making it impossible to repair. It has to be molten down and remade into something else. It seems that while it was simple to wire up the ignition cords on the surface, it was not that great of an idea from the safety point of view. A single malfunction ignited the entire cord assembly bypassing all of the delays. In addition, 9 out of 30 shells malfunctioned which does not sound like a good track record. You also don’t think that fireworks are generally a good idea on the frontier. While it was ok with you around, you don’t think that Farsalos could survive such an attack without you. You are pretty sure that you’ve heard other things in the forest that didn’t fit with the sounds that giant wolves made. You wonder if Haven is right about the “monster king”, since you know that you’ve heard a weird bubbling roar that seemingly agitated the wolves but you won’t know for sure until you investigate it. You make a mental note about this and head back towards the inner defense area.
>>3902065On your way you see Mina on top of one of the towers facing to the north. You make a detour to see how she’s doing. She notices you approaching her and greets you with a bow. She compliments your display of strength yesterday and says that you’ve scared off the common nearby monsters completely. She thinks that the area was even quieter than what being around a border village would suggest. She explains that the majority of common monsters are capable of judging their strength against the people and defenses in the village and they would not perform suicidal attacks against a target they can’t feasibly defeat. However, they would patrol the areas near to the border villages looking for weaknesses or lone villagers leaving the defended areas. After you managed to scare off the wolves, she couldn’t detect any monsters in the outskirts of the village which is unusual and very impressive. You thank her for her work and leave her to continue her watch. She is there mostly to help the late-night third militia shift until it is relieved by the first shift in about an hour after which she would join you and Nike’ for a breakfast. As you walk back to the street level you note that the more “early bird” villagers are already awake and around. Some are well rested while others look like they decided to just not go to bed last night which is honestly to be expected considering the spectacle. You note two hunters from the new monster hunter team walking towards the town hall, a few people queuing up in front of the cookhouse and some other general traffic that is to be expected. You also think that some of your guests might be waking up soon, however most likely that won’t be Haven who was absolutely wasted just a couple hours ago.>Check up on the two hunters. You wonder if they are heading to check up on the new tasks>Head to the inn and see how the rest of the new hunters are doing>Head to the cookhouse and help out the sleepy cooks with the queue>Warm up breakfast for your guests as they are waking up>Other ideas?
>>3902067>Warm up breakfast for your guests as they are waking upNice host.
>>3902067>Warm up breakfast for your guests as they are waking upWonder what Nike likes for breakfast, we probably don't have as nice a selection as she is used to.>Other ideas?Take some leftovers for the cooks, or some nice ingredient for them, we are in a good mood
>>3902067Warm up breakfast
>>3902075+1When Haven wakes up we can ask her and Sig more about the monster and If they'd like to hunt it with us or go into the Labyrinth to secure and explore.I'd personally prefer for Farsalos to hire people to deal with the monsters to test the village's hability to deal with this kind of stuff, we can even chip in for the reward.Spend some time with Nike and thank her for coming, I bet it's not easy to take time off like this, I'm glad she did.
>>3902093Sorry guys, was distracted by an IRL event. Still writing
>>3902134You take a quick detour to the chicken coop to grab yourself some fresh eggs before returning back home to prepare the breakfast. While some people wanted you to just warm up some leftovers from the party, you felt like it would be a nice morning for an omelet and bacon. So, after warming up your oven you started with preparing a nice pan, some butter, some nice slices of bacon and a few eggs with grated cheese. All of your companions were sleeping, but the nice smell of sizzling bacon is the best alarm clock as you hear Nike’ leaving the guest room and coming downstairs with slightly sleepy look on her face. “…Morning” she tells you and yawns. “Going for the classic?”“Yeah” you reply. “Only missing the orange juice.” Nike smiles and pulls out a large transparent glass jug filled with around two liters of orange juice and places it on the table. You let out a laugh, thank her and tell her that you just can’t figure out how she does that yet. A plate floats up to you and a portion of omelet with three bacon strips slide off your pan into it before the plate floats up to where Nike’ is sitting. After that you fill up your own plate and sit down at your table. All of the warming up can be done remotely with telekinesis by you, your actual presence by the oven is no longer required.Mina walks in a few minutes later and you slide a plate with beef steak towards her. She told you that she would be fine with anything, but you saw her enjoying the steak and you had some left over so you thought that it would be appropriate. In most of the British influenced world people used to eat a light breakfast and a filling dinner, but in Ceno it is customary to eat a filling breakfast in preparation for a day of hard work. It is a little unusual for you personally, but your mom, who was from Russia, preferred lighter dinners and heavier breakfasts so it is not unheard of for even pre-stasis you. Mina thanks you, takes a sit close to Nike’ and starts eating.
>>3902202You are not sure why orange juice tastes so… nostalgic. Last time you’ve really tried it was back when you were still in middle school. You ended up allergic to it so you didn’t drink much but apparently you still remember the taste. This juice tastes a bit different from factory made juices of your time, but it is still very recognizable and tasty. The three of you almost finish your breakfast before Haven and Sig manage to make their way downstairs. Haven is having a very bad hangover and Sig helps her to take a sit at the table where she remains in half asleep state. You decided that some tea with honey would be helpful, especially with the special honey that you’ve recently bought. It takes her a few minutes to process that you’ve placed a warm drink in front of her but after she drinks it literally in moments she stops being as pale and her hangover is completely gone. She is a bit surprised at first but she is now feeling much better and she can get her breakfast and participate in the discussion. You talk a bit about this idea of the “monster king” and suggest to eliminate it as soon as possible. Nike’ claims that some creatures do exist with ability to coordinate other monsters or just alert them of the nearby targets, so taking it out eventually might be a smart move. Haven and Sig don’t think that it is a good idea for now. Whatever it is, it would most likely manage to hide in the forest depth and we are likely to just run into more dangerous stuff on the way. We only know what it sounds like but not what it looks like. It might be better to look for it once the forest is more tamed and your territory expands further into it. About the Labyrinth clearance, Haven thinks that the refugee problem is not currently critical enough to rush with it. The underground elves would first arrive to the ruined dwarven city and it would make sense to move them to the surface only once they start pushing the living capacity of that area. She thinks that even in worst case we have more than a year before we need to start really moving with the plan.
>>3902203Creating a defended entrance to the Labyrinth, however, might be a good idea in the short term. Haven is slightly unnerved by just closing it with giant boulders and hoping for the best. After all, Labyrinth is very dangerous and if you just leave an entrance to it unattended it could attract new monsters to the area which could threaten not only the copper mines but both Farsalos and Mirangi. You remember that Ceno places fortresses on top of Labyrinth entrances with heavy siege weapons staring down into the depths, thick wooden doors and emergency sealing mechanisms that cause rock falls to block it in case of a breach so you make a mental note of the importance of such project for the near future, but you might want to get some steel first to allow for better and more durable approaches to the design in question. After all, those forts have several thousands of guards and you can’t afford such manpower yet. Maybe some steel reinforced doors or even entirely metal doors along with reinforced concrete instead of just brick, masonry and hope that nothing big enough decides to pay a visit.Sigrid herself is a little more willing to risk it and she wants to help you with the clearing attempts in the Labyrinth. She has only heard that it was dangerous, but she is brave and her last visit ended up with no scratches so she thinks that it can’t be that bad, especially if she would be accompanying you. She would prefer for this expedition to be scheduled for a later date though. Sig has heard about the arrival of a Cup Bearer with healing powers in a few days from yesterday’s discussion and you told her about a meeting with Elspeth in the near future so it might be better to deal with more immediate plans since we have no idea what we’d bump into and how long it would take.Nike’ has to unfortunately bump into the discussion at that point and asks you to show her the shrine so she can get to work with turning it into her teleportation anchor. While she can talk through her Muses and teleport them to her, she can’t teleport anything to them normally so she needs the anchor if she wants to transport herself to Farsalos directly. The process itself would take her around 6 or 7 hours so she would prefer to start as soon as possible just to reduce the risk of being recalled due to some event and not having enough time to finish it. You understand, thank her for coming and spending some of her precious time with you and then you leave your companions to finish their breakfasts while you show Nike’ the shrine.
>>3902205The building itself consists out of two main parts: the circular Oracle Shrine itself and a secondary building that is intended to be the home and office of Nike’s Oracle and thus it is equipped with everything including running water, shelter and sewer access and other things. Nike’ really only needed the floor and columns to be made out of marble, but you decided that it would be nice for the whole structure to be made out of marble as well which made it a bit more expensive but at the same time nicer looking. Nike’ decides that it is sufficient for her purposes and that you could leave her to do the work if you want to. She claims that it is going to be mostly boring since it relies on concentration and it is unlikely that you could feel what she was doing.>Stay and try to see what she was doing (requires 1d20 roll)>Leave her to it and return to your home. You’d like to plan some projects>Leave her to it and check up on the new hunters. You would like to know more about them>Leave her to it and return back to your friends. >>3902279Currently both Haven and Sig are basically your teammates if the three of you were a monster hunter team and you were a team leader. I'm not sure if it would be a correct time to just hire them with per hour pay or something considering they are your friends, they already get shares from bounties and they know that you won't just let them get in the harm's way. There is also the whole "being a goddess" part, but it mostly applies to Haven's reasons for sticking with you.Regarding Labyrinth, yeah, I just messed up. My association was with Ag's lab that is below her house so I was a little confused.
>>3902336Well, this post went out of hand. Posting it after I check the spelling in a few minutes
>>3902336You decide that it would be worth it to stay and try to understand how Nike’ performs her “anchor creation” in hopes that you could eventually manage to do something similar. Nike’ walks into the very middle of the shrine, closes her eyes and inhales deeply. You are not sure if anything is happening for the next 15 minutes or so until you remember that you are completely full on psi energy and thus of course you can’t feel Nike’s draw on the psi field. You start lightly hovering just so that you start draining a little bit of the field and thus see if there is something interesting in the way she does it. What you sensed was a little surprising.Nike’ was drawing in a huge energy gradient from the local area taking roughly 4/5 of the entire field’s regeneration rate constantly and at the same time she does it in a different way from you. While you collect that energy and store it in yourself for later use, she doesn’t pass that energy through her and instead it is drawn to the marble foundation directly. However, you can’t actually feel what is going on inside of the marble, you only feel the direction in which the energy “current” flows. In addition to that, the foundation itself seems to be “leaking” a small fraction of the energy that is poured into it. You are not sure what that means, but maybe it is some kind of inefficiency in the binding process. After about an hour you didn’t manage to feel anything beyond the fact that Nike’s power drain slightly fluctuated in what you assume to be the different requirements for the formation of the anchor. While you haven’t learned how exactly she does the “enchantment” itself, feeling the way psi energy moves gave you an idea. You go back to your house, quickly go into your lab and get yourself a small piece of glow quartz. You hold it between your thumb and your index finger as you attempt to replicate the energy flow similar to how Nike’ does it. After a few minutes you had some minor success in controlling the direction of the psi energy flow around you but you can’t figure out how to force it not to go into your body. Then you decided on what if you just pass it through the body and then into the object. In fact, why bother with passing it through your body if you could just tap into your own energy stores directly.
>>3902754When you “cast” your abilities you first create and image of what you want to do in your head and then “fill it up” with your energy, now you are pouring that energy into the object without creating that mental mold for what you want to happen. The piece of glow quartz for a brief moment illuminates the entire lab in a blinding pulse of light before exploding in a shower of tiny quartz pieces and completely ripping off the nails and skin layer off both of the fingers that you used to hold it. Beyond the fact that this hurt, you consider the experiment a success. You find a few of the shards leftover from the explosion and try to power them, but it results in absolutely no effect so you think that you managed to completely “fry” whatever enchantment was placed on those crystals. You quickly find another small piece of glow quartz and try inputting way less energy into it. The crystal glows very brightly and heats up to the point that you can no longer hold it in your hand. Once you levitated it you started to measure the limits of what energy it can handle and it turns out not much more than what you were pumping through it. The crystal sizzles and cracks in tiny web- like pattern which reminds you of what happens to a slab of glass during the dielectric breakdown. Also, the areas around the cracks stop glowing completely suggesting that you’ve damaged them. With another crystal and even less power you manage to replicate the same feat that Haven did with the glowing pendant that you’ve made a while ago. With that knowledge you decided to put on Nike’s ring and start slowly cranking up the energy injection. This results in the ring’s effect expanding beyond just your hand until it covers your body completely. You don’t like it though since it is surprisingly disorienting. It is not just your image from the outside, you also have trouble viewing and hearing things when the effect is active and it gets worse when you start moving. While undoubtfully useful, you think that it might be a good idea to train with it before trying to use it in an actual fight at full potential. You need to get used to the distortion and its relation with your movement or you’d be disoriented at the worst time.
>>3902758You get back up from your lab to bump straight into Haven and Sig who were worried by you rushing past them into the cellar followed by a sound of a small explosion. To this you reply that it is the sound of progress and you demonstrate your newfound understanding of the most primitive psi energy application. The fact that your right hand’s fingers were “bleeding” all over your arm didn’t help much with the image, but the discovery still counts. You wonder what you could do with this newfound power of yours. Apart of powering psi-based devices, maybe you could overclock them or even transfer energy into other people that have psi powers. Also, since Nike’ was using it in enchanting, maybe you could use it to create psi powered items on your own eventually. But for now, some bandages and a victory drink. With this out of the way, you decided that it might be a good idea to discuss a couple things with your friends. First of all, you were wondering about your relationship with them. What do they expect of you and if they would like to be paid for them assisting you and risking their lives. The answer was a little surprising but not all that unexpected: Sig and Haven consider you to basically be their hunting team leader. You make the calls on what things you do and how you spread the bounty after the missions. You are also their friend and they trust you with keeping them safe. In addition, there are also the personal factors for each of your friends for starting this job in the first place. Sigrid wants to become a legendary monster huntress like her sister and hanging out around a literal goddess is the best bet for that. Haven herself started monster hunting as an attempt to accumulate enough money to pay back her family’s loans and since you helped her with that, she would like to repay you with what she can. It would be nice if you took them on a payroll, but if you just take them on enough commissioned monster hunting ventures it would most likely be enough money for them to still hang around with you. And if they have some money problems the two of them should be enough for the easier assignments and they could always team up with whatever other monster hunters are in the area or they could just ask you for some help.
>>3902770Regarding the second subject, you wanted to know their opinions on the plans related to the dwarves and underground elves, to which they think that it depends on what you want to happen. For the sake of safety, both girls agree that the sooner you create defenses around the Labyrinth entrance the better. If you want increased trade, it would be a good idea to pave roads to the Labyrinth entrance and to Mirangi as well as clearing out the local Labyrinth area, sealing off a tunnel all the way to the dwarven ruin and maybe even paving it for easier caravan movement. However, Haven thinks that the trade with dwarves would take up to half a year to start cranking up since they would need to replant all the fields, prepare the new houses in the place of charred ruins and establish their own commerce in the ruin itself before they can even think of trading with the surface. So, she advises you to look into paving the road to Mirangi first and postponing the road through the Labyrinth to a later date. That way it would be easier and safer for Ceno traders to make their way here which should help with the village trade. If you want to help the elven refugees, Haven thinks that you would need to secure the path from the ruin to the surface and start clearing, building and defending a whole new village. While it is likely that dark elves could manage to build their own shelter and beat up monsters with their own remnant military force, it would likely be a slow process without your support. However, she thinks that you should take into account the speed of information and travel in this world. It would take over a month for the first word about this ruin to get to the refugees, several months for the first and most desperate to arrive, then more time for them to settle and send the “all clear” to their brethren which would have to repeat numerous times for the majority of the refuges to start moving into the ruin itself. You could speed the process up by helping with shelter and farming in the ruin, but even then, it would take over a year for significant influx of the refugees to flow into this area. Considering your previous achievements with rapid construction, she thinks that it might be a good idea to look into other things and return to this subject when it becomes more pronounced. If you clear the area and construct the houses, workshops, walls and so on you’d end up with a ghost town which would have at best a few dozen people now and it would stand around in that state slowly decaying with some parts of it becoming obsolete as you acquire more wealth, tools and materials which could make it better but possibly requiring complete redesign.
>>3902778Now that you know their opinions, you can take a look at what things you would like to plan first. While you won’t just jump into construction immediately with all the other stuff in your backlog, it would still be nice to make a roadmap for the future. Once you are done with current events, you would like to focus on…>Metallurgy: Gaining access to colored metals, iron and steel would allow you to produce better tools for the village as well as unlocking more advanced materials that you could use for construction like reinforced concrete or other steel structural elements. In addition, metals and metal items are a nice export good. >Road construction: linking Mirangi and Farsalos would allow for increased and safer trade which should boost local economy and encourage migration. Linking Farsalos with the outposts would allow for safer transportation of people and materials while paving all the way to the Labyrinth entrance is a nice investment for the future trade with the dwarves>Labyrinth pacification: with the various monsters inhabiting the local area, it would be dangerous to establish travel between the surface and the dwarven territories. By exploring the region and killing off the monstrous wildlife you should be able to reduce the danger both to the future travelers and to Farsalos itself since the chances of something deadly spilling from the Labyrinth to the surface would be decreased>Labyrinth path reinforcement: By applying lots of masonry, concrete and small scale pacification, you should be able to seal off most of the tunnels that intersect the preferred path between the ruin and the surface which is the most effective defense of the underground passageways known to the dwarves. >Entrance reinforcement: Labyrinth poses an existential threat to your village. While this hasn’t happened yet, Ceno builds Labyrinth forts for a reason. By constructing a sturdy fortress on top of the entrance you should limit the majority of the risks of monsters raiding your people from below. However, you have relatively limited tools to work with. Thick reinforced wooden doors would not stop something comparable to the creature that you’ve killed in the ruins.>Surface pacification: Ceno sits at the edge of the wilderness regions and it is always at a threat of monster attacks. By exploring the region and killing off most prominent monsters it might be possible to lower the risks and discover new resources at the same time! Two birds with one stone.>Other ideas: You had a whole list of possible projects that you wanted to touch. From steam power to deeper research into the nature of your powers and condition. While what was mentioned previously is important, you might be able to knock something out from another list first…
>>3902780Regarding the interactions with Haven and Sigrid:>You like how things are now and you are fine if they’d just ask you to help them with money when they need it>You would like your relations to be a bit more formal. Minimal and bonus monthly wages, contracts and other stuff.>You have some other idea…

>>3902783>>3902788>>3902797>>3902803Alright. One vote for entrance reinforcement, one vote for roads and one for metallurgy. I'll let you pick from them when the time comes to the construction. Also everyone wants to keep things how they are. Writing

>>3902856Out of all the options you think that you’ll pick three most important ones: metallurgy, roads and entrance reinforcement. You are not sure what you’d start with, but you’d prefer those done before you try anything bigger and you can decide what you’d like to pursue first when you get the time for them. Regarding your companions, you think that you are fine with the current setup. If there are any problems that they’d need help with you’re sure that you could decide on case by case basis, which your friends are fine with. No need to get formal where you don’t have to, right? And you wrap up with this just in time since you get a knock on the door. There is some guy from villager militia who says something about Amythos wanting him to tell you that we are having a guest at the southern gate. He claims that it is one of Asklepians, so you might be interested in meeting them. You thank him after which he nods and returns back towards his post. If you remember correctly, Asklepians are the cups of Mortati, the Ceno god of medicine and healing, but you’ve been expecting them in a couple of days according to Nike’. You wonder why they are early since Nike’ hasn’t even left yet. In any case, you have to go and meet her.You sprint to your room and quickly change your slightly tattered and burned working clothes into something more presentable. In this case, you decided to wear your under armor along with your sword since the chiton is a little too chilly for the outside early spring weather and it would not look fitting with your bandaged up hand. In addition, Nike’ told you that she instructed Mort to tell the healer to find a redhead huntress who would explain the rest of the issue and that way you’d look more recognizable.
>>3903018You walk out of your door less than a minute later and simply look to the right. Conveniently your house sits on the main road that leads to Mirangi and that way you can clearly see the southern gate which is very convenient for just such occasions. The gates are already open to let in a familiar winged figure. You walk out on the street and head out to meet Helena who recognizes you after a few moments. “…Agatha, correct? What a happy coincidence. I take it that you are the person that I was directed to meet. Considering the nature of the request, I assume that Nike’ has indeed noticed your achievements.” You tell her that it is correct, and in fact Mina, one of Nike’s Muses is currently in this village. You offer her to stop at your place for some tea while you gather the injured in need of her attention. She replies that it would be lovely. You direct her towards your home while you call out Signy who just walked to the street to check out the reason for the commotion. You ask her to start organizing the people with cut tendons as you’ve previously agreed to do since the healer arrived a little earlier than expected. She nods and bolts to do so while you attend to your new guest._______________________________________________And on this note we have to wrap up for today.
