In the last chapter, Zheng Li and the Han forces raid and attack the Yellow Turban camp. After a hard attack, the enemy general Pei Yuan Shao is killed and Liu Bei's army arrives to mop up the retreating rebels. All seems good until an official comes to the camp and arrests Lu Zhi with false charges. Despite Zhang Fei's anger and insistence in freeing Lu Zhi, Zheng Li and Liu Bei agree not to do anything rash.--------This quest is an RPG-styled game following the Three Kingdoms period of China and the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guangzhong. You play as a fictional character following through the events of the Three Kingdoms and hopefully rising to become an important player of with the famous figures. You will start off as a no-name, average character who can rise up through effort. Most of the characters and story will follow the events of the novel first, history second, the RoTK games third, and only a very small part will come from the Dynasty Warriors games (Mostly character personalities if suitable). The goal of the game is to create an interesting story more so than win. While this game will not be harsh, mistakes and carelessness may result in the loss of your faction and even the death of your character. Sometimes circumstances may be unfair as not even Zhuge Liang could not save his kingdom after Shu lost Jing province. Still, thinking and common sense should get you through. Whatever the case, my goal is to hopefully see you create an interesting story more than conquering the entirety of China. -------Character info: http://pastebin.com/yDvYKdAkMarket: http://pastebin.com/YwtG4Bjmtwitter: https://twitter.com/RainsArpeggioLast thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/318712/
With Lu Zhi gone, the morale of the Han forces drop. Bitter talks and resentment resound throughout the camp and the unjust arrest. Without Lu Zhi around there is no capable general of rank to command the force and you can only wait patiently for the forces of Huangfu Song and Zhu Jun to arrive. It takes a week, but soon enough you see a large force of several ten thousand troops arrive. You witness Huangfu Song and another man arriving first at camp and you go out to meet them.“Ahh, Sir Zheng Li,” Huangfu Song says as he arrives. “I am glad to see you are still alive. Zhu Jun, this is the volunteer leader I have told you about.”The man beside Huangfu Song, a large, well-muscled man with a comely beard nods to you.“A pleasure to meet you. It is good to see honorable men that still fight for our empire. One more push against the rebels and we should have them in the ropes,” Zhu Jun says with a laugh.“Lu Zhi sent me a month pass informing me of the victory here and your contribution,” Huangfu Song says. “Speaking of which, where is General Lu Zhi? I do not see him, and he was never someone to be lax in protocol and duty.”You sigh at Huangfu Song's question and you explain to him what had transpired. Huangfu Song's look turns grim.“...To arrest one of the generals at this juncture. It seems the court has grown too confident after our recent victories. Yet, many rebels still stand and we have not captured the rebel leader Zhang Jue yet.” Huangfu Song shakes his head. “How can we restore peace back to the Han when poison seeps from within?”Zhu Jun stomps a foot in to the ground.“Those damned vultures! Lu Zhi was a fine man, worth a thousand of those accursed eunuchs and officials. Once the rebels are finished I will strangle those cockless mongrels!”“Calm yourself Zhu Jun,” Huangfu Song says. “We are generals of the state and we must follow the laws.”What do you say?>state what is done is done and everyone must work with what they have>speak against the corrupted officials of the Han

>>357860>>state what is done is done and everyone must work with what they have
>>357860>>speak against the corrupted officials of the HanLu Zhi was our friend. Speaking against these assholes will help our reputation with the people that will actually matter in the coming years: generals and soldiers.
"Though I do not advocate any reckless violence, General Zhu Jun is correct," you firmly state. "As it stands, the reason for the rebels and why people have been crying that the Han has lost the mandate of the heaven is because of the eunuchs and corrupted officials. Even if we were to crush the scarves, how could we prevent other rebellions if we do not fix the problem within our state? Lu Zhi was a just man and he now rots in a prison because he refused to bribe.""Correct!" Zhu Jun shouts. "We must change things once the rebels are defeated. I will speak with Lord He Jin once this is all over.""Enough," Huangfu Song says calming you and Zhu Jun down. "We will share the same fate as Lu Zhi if we continue this talk. For now let us focus on the matter at hand. With Lu Zhi gone we must assign you and the other Han troops elsewhere. Let me see, where can we assign your force...">wait for Huangfu Song to assign you>ask Huangfu Song to lead the remnant Han troops

Huangfu Songs look over a few documents and after rummaging through several papers he nods and looks up to you."You speak of wishes to fix the Han, perhaps then this is a good match for you," Huangfu Song says. "I am assigning you and Liu Bei to General Yuan Shao."You remember from your studies that the Yuan family has served the Han for generations, several of which were important ministers in the government. Huangfu Song's statement seems to indicate that Yuan Shao has some intentions to fix the Han as well, but the general says nothing more in the matter as he sends you off. You bow in reply to Huangfu Song before you depart. The Han army has encamped several stations strong while you and Huangfu Song were talking. You see the banners of several generals you heard about before. In blue cloth at the west side you see Cao Cao, the cavalry general that subjugated several rebel armies near Luoyang. You see in red embroider the name Sun Jian, the general that took back a city under rebel control by personally climbing the city walls himself. You see in dark black the banners of Dong Zhuo, the only general you heard managed to be defeated by the rebels. And in gold embroidery you see the camp of Yuan Shao and enter. You meet with Liu Bei who has also been informed of his assignment. The camp is well organized, clean and neat. You make your way to the main tent where after a brief explanation to the guards you are allowed in. Sitting before you in a comfortable looking room is a handsome man of high cheekbones and straight features. When he sees you and Liu Bei arrive, he smiles and gestures you both to sit."Ahhh, volunteer forces?" he says with a nod. "We are definitely in need of more men. Tell me, where are you from gentlemen?"Liu Bei bows before Yuan Shao."I am of low birth; poor and talentless that I am, I could not stand aside while the Han was in turmoil. I have raised an army with my brothers so that we may rid the land of rebels and bandits."Yuan Shao nods and looks upon you. How do you respond?>speak humbly and say you are of no one important>speak in moderation of your noble birth and clan>embellish your clan's prestige and impress Yuan Shao
>>358085>speak in moderation of your noble birth and clanIf I remember right Yuan Shao likes nobles like himself.

>>358085>>speak in moderation of your noble birth and clanLet him know we're nobles and all, but be sort of humble. We're not some big name, but we DO have a name. Also, is it too late to grab Zhang He? or would we have to wait until some other engagement where he's there?
>>358094Patience. There will be opportunities.
>>358101I know. I just want to grab him up before he gets cao cao'd.Also, I'd be down with sticking with Yuan Shao. He's pretty cool.
>>358110Here's a fun fact. Zhang He was with Yuan Shao up until Yuan Shao's defeat at Guan Du. Then Cao Cao recruited him.So we still have many years friend. And who knows what the power structure will be like after Dong Zhou's fall. Guan Du might not even happen.
>>358085>>speak in moderation of your noble birth and clanI'm only voting so you know you have fans and are appreciated, Arpeggio.
"I am from Yingchuan commandery, close to the city of Xuchang. My father served as a clerk to the local government there. I am afraid my family only reached noble status and it cannot compare to the prestigious Yuan name. Despite this, I too could not overlook the turmoil of the land and raised the Dawn Tigers to aid the imperial troops," you tell Yuan Shao."It matters not how long your family has retained their status. If they became noble of status, it means they have rendered deeds to accomplish such. And here you stand to fight the Yellow Scarves for a just cause; do meritorious deeds and you may bring more prestige to your family."The three of you bow to one another in good faith. Yuan Shao seems pleasant enough."We will march three days from now. We have been tasked with fighting against Zhang Bao, one of the three brothers leading the rebels. He leads fifty thousand rebel troops. I command ten thousand and now you gentlemen have come to aid me. Though the enemy may outnumber us they are but rabble and untrained men. If we work together we shall overcome them. Prepare your troops for the fight to come, I shall be counting on the both of you."Liu Bei respectfully and take his leave. You bow as well and move to exit the tent as well but...Huangfu Song stated you and Yuan shao might have been a good match because you both shared a dislike for the corrupted eunuchs and officials. Perhaps you should speak with Yuan Shao about it?>discuss with Yuan Shao about the corruption>keep your mouth shut for now

>>358118I've always wanted to see a RTK quest where we sign up with Cao Cao myself. Guo Jia's fucking awesome, and if we could keep him alive, that'd go a long way to unifying the land. Also it's got Xiahou Dun voiced by the ever-present Kirk Thornton.
>>358229Honestly if Cao Cao won Chi Bi it probably would have been total victory for him.Jing already surrendered, Wu would have been hurting bad, Shu never would have formed.
>>358229Eh, if we go with cao cao he'd probably end up fucking our wife.Plus, he has too much of a hard on for guan yu. We could never earn his love.
You do not leave Yuan Shao's tent but instead you turn around and move back to Yuan Shao's desk. Yuan Shao raises an eyebrow and blinks a few times at your gesture."What is it, Sir Zheng? Do you need some supplies?""No, I think we have a far more important matter to speak about," you tell Yuan Shao. Yuan Shao's body becomes firm at your serious face."General, just recently a good minister and general, Lu Zhi, was wrongfully imprisoned by a court official. This man that I served together with worked tirelessly to defeat the rebels and it was by his command we defeated several tens of thousand rebels here in Ji. Yet, instead if being congratulated he has been sent to prison."Yuan Shao makes a deep sigh and laments."Yes, I have heard. Truly a shame. The current situation is that many corrupted officials have attached themselves. The eunuchs of the court control the Emperor and their power goes unchecked. About ten years ago many scholars and students attempted to protest against the eunuchs and they were executed for doing so. I tried to save as many as I could, but at the time I could only do so much as a minor official."Yuan Shao sighs again."We must definitely see to some change, or we shall face more trouble in the future. What can be done about the state of affairs?" he says with a shake of his head. What do you suggest to Yuan Shao?>try to battle the eunuchs legally and pass laws to reform the government >suggest that force may have to be used to remove corruption>tell Yuan Shao he should take advantage of the situation and grow his power

>>358271>suggest that force may have to be used to remove corruption"A bold claim I know, but the legal system is their greatest strength. I don't think it's possible to reform the government from within.""At any rate we should focus on these Yellow Turbans for now. You think on your actions. So far you have acted to defend the people and kill brigands, but you do not believe you have accomplished your original goal of expanding your clan. Perhaps Yuan Shao, a man from a prestigious family, can help you make your goal? As you understand the current times can give many opportunities for people to rise in power."Lord Yuan Shao," you say in a slight whisper, making certain the guards outside and no others can hear. "The current predicament cannot be so easily solved. The eunuchs control the government and they will stop at any attempts on reform and change. The Empress He too is full of corruption and the Son of Heaven is surrounded by deceit. To try and reform through executions or violence... Well, that would make us no better than the rebels."Yuan Shao looks at you with interest. You have caught his full attention. You manage not to smile."Lord Yuan Shao, you hold a prestigious name. Right now you are a minister and a general, but you can do accomplish so much more. After the rebels are defeated, you should gather talented men and troops loyal to your cause. Make a base for yourself in the lands of Hebei which have fertile land and where your family resides. Gather the heroes, fight rebels, increase your prestige. What can the court do to stop you when so many bandits roam the land and you help the people? Then you may eliminate the rebels, make yourself a hero, and become an important figure."Your words strike at Yuan Shao. He leans his body back. He places a hand on his chin, looks down upon his desk and contemplates on the matter. After a minute he finally speaks."Yes... You are correct. I have been acting as a minister on the court without power for far too long. He Jin does not heed by advice. Why should the scion and son of the Yuan family serve as a mere minister where he shall die never having accomplished anything?"Yuan Shao nods in affirmation."Zheng Li your words resound with me. I think I shall take your advice."He places a hand on your shoulder."After the rebels are defeated, come work for me. I will give you rank and soldiers to command. I will use my resources and connections to raise my own troops... My own base. Then perhaps I can even..." Yuan Shao's body shivers for a moment. He looks back at you."Speak of this to no one Zheng Li. If I should succeed in making myself a hero of this land, I will certainly reward you and I shall bring your clan's prestige to new heights. For now, return to your camp. We will defeat the rebels three days from now and once we finish off the Yellow Scarves we shall put this plan in motion."
>>358522Your troops rest and train for three days. As Huangfu Song stated, the armies of the Han begin marching against the rebels north. Huangfu Song with Cao Cao and Dong Zhuo got to face off against Zhang Jue's main force, Zhu Jun and Sun Jian go off to fight Zhang Liang. You accompany Yuan Shao and his ten-thousand men along with Liu Bei against Zhang Bao.Your troops march against the plains of Ji and you placed at the right flank of Yuan Shao's army. After a week's march, your troops find the army of Zhang Bao. Fifty thousand rebels block your passage in the field. The battlefield is flat and comprised mainly of grass. From the enemy ranks comes an enemy general wielding a spear.“Come Imperial scum! I am Yan Zheng, and I challenge any to a duel!”Yuan Shao atop his horse scoffs. “This mindless rabble thinks to challenge me. Who shall go and slay this impudent wretch?”A large man, six feet in tall, heavily muscled, and in full steeled armor steps up.“General, let me, Yan Liang take this man's head!”Yuan Shao nods in acceptance but before he can, Zhang Fei steps up.“Wait! Let me kill this man. There is no need to send a ranked soldier to fight him. Let me show the enemy that even a butcher such as myself can defeat their best champions!”Yan Liang snarls in displeasure.Do you speak up?>advocate for Yan Liang>advocate for Zhang Fei>advocate yourself to duel>stay silent in the matter

>>358526>>advocate for Yan LiangOn one hand, Zhang Fei can probably annihilate this dude. On the other, zhang fei probably gives zero shits really, but the general would respect us hyping him up, if he survuves
>>358526>>advocate for Yan LiangNigga, we gonna be best friends. Imma save you from Guan Yu, I promise.
>>358526>>advocate for Yan Liang
"Zhang Fei," you say. "These duels are usually fought by those of ranked men. It would be an insult to send men like us to battle in a duel. I too wish to fight, but I think it may be best to leave it to Lord Yuan's general.""There will be plenty of rebels for your spear Zhang Fei," Liu Bei says placing a hand on his brother's shoulder. "Come, let us prepare our own troops for the coming battle."Zhang Fei groans but submits with a wave of his hand. Yan Liang, the muscled warrior glances at you and nods in approval.Yan Liang gallops atop his horse to face Yan Zheng. The two meet in combat and after a mere 3 bouts Yan Zheng is overpowered by Yan Liang's immense strength. You watch in amazement as Yan Liang brings down his axe, splitting apart Yan Zheng's spear and then stamping his head bloody. Yan Zheng slumps to the ground as the rebel army's morale drops on the face of such a powerful warrior. You return to your own ranks."Such a powerful man," Hao Xian remarks. "He dispatched of the enemy officer as if he was a fly.""Bah, I would have killed him in a single blow," Yang Jing says. The horns and drums to battle begin to fare. You command the right flank of the army. A number of your veteran troops were lost in the last battle, do you fight hard against the enemy or let Yuan Shao do the bulk of the work?>contribute all your troops in the front lines and fight hard>fight to help but keep casualties to a minimum
>>358598>>fight to help but keep casualties to a minimumTo be fair, I don't want the Dawn Tigers known as the group you join to immediately die. We can't lose 50 percent of our forces every fucking battle.
>>358598>fight to help but keep casualties to a minimumFocus on keeping the enemy contained on the right side so the hard hitters on the middle and left can encircle and crush.
>>358598>>fight to help but keep casualties to a minimumCan't be acting reckless when we're so heavily outnumbered
>>358598>fight to help but keep casualties to a minimum
The main army of Yuan Shao charges forward. Comprised of well-equipped infantry and backed up by cavalry forces, they crash in to the front lines of the enemy rebels and scatter their ranks. You follow on the right flank as well while Liu Bei attacks from the left flank.Having lost a lot of soldiers on the previous battle, you decide not to be as reckless as before and you work to keep your army intact. You, Hao Xian, and Yang Jing attack the right side of the enemy rebels but make certain never to push deep in to the enemy ranks. You see Yang Jing smashing enemy troops with his large axe while Hao Xian focuses on rousing the men.The battle seems to be going well. Yuan Shao, Liu Bei, and your troops steadily gain ground. Despite being outnumbered the men on your side are better equipped, more trained, and the enemy's morale has been shaken after so many lost battles and the loss of their champion.Just as you sense victory however, loud noises erupt. You see on the distance large explosions of fire and smoke. Loud shrieks begin to resound in the air and in the smokes behind the enemy ranks you see large shadows."D-Demons!" you hear a solder yell. A number of troops begin to panic and fall in to confusion. You see the enemy troops begin to grow in courage and they begin pushing back.Demons? It can't be, the idea if ridiculous. What do you do?>try to ascertain what the "demons" are>rouse your men to fighter harder, even demons can be killed

>>358710>>try to ascertain what the "demons" areOn the one hand, if this is actual magic, then this is bullshit we can't beat.On the other hand, if this is bullshit, that sort of robs some of the magic from the actual novels.
>>358726Putting an arrow or spear in Bao would probably do the trick. Getting to him when he has phantom soldiers is an issue.A quick night raid might be possible.
You do not believe in mystical nonsense, and you move to gain a better view of what is happening. In the distance you can see that the shadows of the enemy grow large and they appear to be moving towards your army. However, they never actually move toward you and the figures only ever stay within the smoke of the enemy. You are not wise enough to ascertain exactly how the enemy is doing it, but you now know for a fact that they are fake."Men! Do not fall for the enemy's tricks! They are lies and illusions, push the enemy back!"Your soldiers do not readily understand the situation either, but they fighter harder against the enemy. The battle goes even and begins to drag.Soon the horns and drums for retreat are given. You and your troops are forced to retreat back and meet with Yuan Shao and Liu Bei."The enemy is too many ad they conduct foul magic against us," Yuan Shao states."It is no magic," you protest. "What they are doing is fake and trickery. I do not know how but their magic is not real.""Sill, our troops are shaken and superstitious beliefs envelop them. I do not think we should engage Zhang Bao head on," Liu Bei states."Do the two of you have any plan?" Yuan Shao asks.>suggest a plan of action (discuss and decide)>let Liu Bei form a plan

>>358760>>suggest a plan of action (discuss and decide)I hate to be a metagaming faggot. But we should do shit that would 'historically' counter magic to bolster the confidence of our troops.Give them blessed talismans that protect against demons.Dump pig's blood on the 'sorcerers' to taint them and stifle their 'spells'Essentially pull that shit in Space Jam where Michael Jordan gave the looney tunes his 'special stuff' so they would play better.

You think about the situation at hand and a brilliant idea comes to your mind. If the soldiers are scared of superstition, why not counter it with your own fake superstitions? You turn to Yuan Shao and Liu Bei.“The soldiers believe the black magic is at hand and demons will hunt them. Then let us hold our own ceremony, where we slay an ox and give prayer to heaven and the Han ancestors of old. We will say that divine protection has been bestowed upon us, and then we shall dissuade their fears.”“A fantastic plan,” Liu Bei says bowing. “Let us also pretend a retreat from the premise. We will attack once again, and when they set upon their magic, we will hastily retreat in pretending fear. When they pursue we shall have ambushes laid out for them.”“Let us also take advantage of this terrain and launch a fire attack at their rear. We will destroy their supplies and whatever they are using for their magic. The enemy will thus lose heart and we will rout them.”Yuan Shao approves of your and Liu Bei's plan and decides to put it in motion. What action do you lead?>lead the troops to pretend defeat and lure the enemy force>lead the ambush party>lead the raiding party to attack from the rear
>>361609>lead the raiding party to attack from the rear
>>361609>>lead the raiding party to attack from the rear
>>358710>>try to ascertain what the "demons" are>>361609>>lead the raiding party to attack from the rear
The respective parties are drawn up. Yuan Shao, being the head of the army, would feign his defeat and retreat. Liu Bei would hide his troops on the tall grasses and attack once the rebels have been drawn. Then you would lead your forces to attack the rear with a fire attack and destroy the enemy's supplies. Before the plan goes in motion, Yuan Shao brings all the troops together."Good fellows, the enemy employs shadow magic on their hands, but fear naught. We will make prayer to our ancestors and in doing so we will be given divine protection from the late Emperors and heaven. I vow in the name of Yuan that no monsters can hurt you."Several oxes are killed and a prayer is placed. Every man is given meat to their diet for the day; a luxury usually not given to the common soldier. Morale is restored and the spirits of the soldiers are renewed.Near evening as the sun is about to go down, Yuan Shao leads the Han troops to attack again. Yan Liang goes forth to challenge the enemy to duel, and this time a man by the name of Zhou Cang meets to engage him. Yan Liang fights the man for twenty bouts before he pretends defeat and runs away."I will not tolerate failure! All troops attack!"Yuan Shao attacks the rebels. No sooner than the soldiers clash, black smoke begins to rise again and loud shrieks begin to resound in the air. Shadows form once again. At this, Yuan Shao orders a hasty retreat and the Han troops fall back."Look at the enemy flee! Heaven is on our side, pursue and destroy the evil Han!"Zhang Bao takes the bait and pursues. He follows several miles when suddenly Yuan Shao's army turns around and attacks. The sound of drums comes from the enemy flank and Liu Bei with his two brothers attack. The Yellow Scarves are thrown in to confusion. You lead another attack in the rear, having circled around the enemy. Waving your sword in the air, you and your elite horsemen pounce on the enemy."Do not flee rebels, we are here to say brigands and demons alike!">Roll 1d100, best of three. Lead + Int stat.

Torches and flammable material in hand, you set fire to the enemy rear. Parts of the grasslands catch on fire and you find moderate success in your endeavor as rebels are put in to more confusion. The wind and cloudy weather however only keeps the fire spreading at a small pace. Hao Xian does his best to keep the flames going while Yang Jing smites enemies here and there. “Fight! Fight and repulse them!” you hear Zhang Bao in the distance yell. He attempts to rally the defenders and make some semblance of order. You see an opportunity to possibly kill or capture Zhang Bao, but a lot of rebel soldiers stand in the way. What do you do?>try to charge in with your horsemen and capture Zhang Bao>fire an arrow at Zhang Bao>ignore Zhang Bao, focus on routing the enemy soldiers

Notching an arrow, you take careful aim at Zhang Bao who is busy rallying his men. As Zhang Bao is riding his mount here and there to rouse his soldiers, the moving target is hard to hit. But you release your arrow and the missile hits Zhang Bao on the leg. He screams as he is knocked off his horse. The rebels help Zhang Bao up and they begin to hastily retreat. Numerous men form a wall to defend their lord. You decide you care little for the man and instead focus on moping up the rest of the enemy troops. Together with Hao Xian and Yang Jing, the three of you score many kills and soon the rebels are pushed back and they begin abandoning camp. You capture the enemy camp. Along with a few soldiers, you also find several large pots full of strange incense and offerings. You are also surprised to find numerous women in camp. You demand answers from the captured soldiers.Several refuse to answer but after being threatened death and punishment, one man speaks."The incense and pots are what we used to create the smokes," the man says. "Only the General of Earth knows how to make them. When we use the smoke and place men behind them, it creates an illusion of large shadows. We made lots of noises with drums and the women shrieked their lungs out so that we could pretend demons were on our side."You glance at the hundreds of women. They scowl at you and one of them speaks up."Our homes have been displaced. Last year floods destroyed our farmlands and we were unable to produce any food. The local lords heavily taxed us and punished us for not producing any foodstuff even if it was not our fault. Then when bandits and brigands attacked we were given no protection. The Han is a corrupt and vile. We spit upon you damnable lords."What do you do with the women? It seems they did not fight, but were a part of the rebel army.>execute them>release them to their homes and threaten punishment if they rebel again>take them prisoners and leave their fates to Yuan Shao

"Regardless of your circumstance, you have disobeyed the law and rebelled against the government. You will be placed in prison as with the rest of the rebels." You order your men to tie the women along with the men and place them in the prison tents. Yang Jing sneers and states he should take one of the women as his own, but Hao Xian prevents the man from doing so. You dismantle the enemy camp and meet back with Yuan Shao and Liu Bei."Well done gentlemen," Yuan Shao remarks. "Zhang Bao has fallen back to the city of Jinyang. Once we take the city and defeat the rebels, this rebellion should come to an end."You tally the forces up and Yuan Shao still has eight thousand men left. You and Liu Bei still retain about a thousand soldiers each. You hear news that after the battle a lot of Yellow Scarves have begun abandoning Zhang Bao and after the casualties he suffered he only holds about ten thousand men.Your force marches upon the city of Jinyang that has been shut tight. It seems a siege is at hand."Sieges are long and arduous. The books state we need about thrice the men to take a city... But looking at the rebels they are disorganized and weak. After the burning of their supplies I think they can only hold the city for so long. Shall we starve them out or attack?" Yuan Shao asks."I believe we should attack from three fronts. Let one gate be free where the rebels will be allowed to flee. We will then take Jinyang and the rebels having lost their territory will have no choice but to give up their cause.""Hmm... But should we not capture Zhang Bao?" Yuan Shao asks. "Perhaps we should not needlessly sacrifice men and just surround the city.""I do not know if a fanatic like Zhang Bao would surrender," Liu Bei states. "But his men are common people. They surely would."What do you say? You may perhaps want to just commit an all-out attack so Zhang Bao is assuredly captured and in doing so you can obtain more fame and merits.>follow Liu Bei's suggestion; attack and let the rebels flee>surround the city and starve the rebels>commit to an all-out attack on all fronts to capture Zhang Bao

>>362172>follow Liu Bei's suggestion; attack and let the rebels fleeIf this Zhang Bao is as great a fanatic as they say, then he must certainly be willing to lay down his life in the defense of this city. Otherwise the Yellow Turban rebellion will end in failure. And If he does end up running away, we can always give chase
>>362172>follow Liu Bei's suggestion; attack and let the rebels flee
>>362172>>follow Liu Bei's suggestion; attack and let the rebels fleeLess casualties for our men as they wont be cornered rats.
Surround the city but send a single one of the captured back into the city to tell them that any that wish to leave may, the remainder will die at our hand
>>362305Ooh. This instead.
"I agree with Sir Liu," you say in accordance. "Zhang Bao may be one of the three leaders of the rebellion but the Yellow Scarves have lost many battles. With Generals Zhu Jun and the others leading the attacks against the other two brothers, the rebels will soon lose faith in the leaders."Seeing both you and Liu Bei agreeing to let the rebels flee, Yuan Shao agrees to the plan. Yuan Shao sends several missives to the city ordering for all rebels to retire or be put to the sword. He gives three days of wait for the rebels to lose heart and run before an attack is issued. The army is divided in to three and each gate is heavily attacked. Bowmen rain arrows on the city walls, battering rams are brought, and ladders are placed in the city. The rebels, inexperienced in sieges, quickly find themselves in rout. It only takes a few days of attack before the city is abandoned. Many flee from the northernmost gate of the city and you hear Zhang Bao regrettably has escaped as well. The city of Jinyang is taken. As your soldiers march in the city and maintain order, no cheers or shouts of joy are given. The city of Jinyang is in a rather poor state with food only enough to survive. Numerous government complexes have been burned down and taken down. Several of the populace are not happy with the Imperial troops having retaken the city. Yuan pays no heed to the populace and instead rewards his men with gold supplies. You are given 200 taels of gold for your service. You hear Liu Bei was given riches as well, but he has distributed most of it to the population that is in need.
>>362362The city of Jinyang is taken and you have time to rest. You hear news that Zhu Jun and the other generals are making progress in their own ends. Zhang Jue and Zhang Liang, the two other brothers are being beaten back. You have some free time now. You hold 1200 adept soldiers and you now hold a personal gold of 250 taels. What do you focus on for the next few months? You make a call to arms to recruit more men in to the Dawn Tigers. As the rebels are near in defeat, and with Jinyang not too happy about the Imperial troops occupying the city, you find in difficult to recruit a good number of soldiers. Three hundred men still join your cause bringing the Dawn Tigers to 1500 men.The rebellion is nearly ending but you predict there are still troubles to come. You brush up on your military tactics while also working on your ability to speak. (Lead +2, Cha +4)In your free time you further improve your relationship with Hao Xian and Yang Jing. The past year of fighting and working together have brought you closer than ever. The three of you speak of women in one night while you dine together."You should all know, this Yang Jing has slept with dozens of women! I am willing to bet plenty of bastards have been born under my name. A single woman is not enough for me and when I become a lord I shall have a harem of a hundred women.""The sky is likely to collapse before that happens," Hao Xian says with a shake of his head."Do you not have a wife yet Hao Xian?" you ask."No, and I do not exactly have any interest in it besides having a heir to my name," Hao Xian replies. "Family can come later once we are done with fighting. If you wish, find me a suitable wife with a family you wish to be more friendly with Sir Zheng.""Bah, you are a bore," Yang Jing says with a wave of his hand. It seems while Yang Jing might cause trouble with women in the near future, Hao Xian is willing to offer his name in marriage to your decision. Perhaps you can find him a suitable wife or give him the relative of another officer you wish to have more friendly diplomatic relationships with."What about you Zheng Li? Surely you want to bed the most beautiful women and create the huge harem!?" Yang Jing asks with a swig of his wine.>I want a beautiful wife and a marriage from love>Marriages are political, I will marry to further my clan>I want a harem!

>>362558>>I want a beautiful wife and a marriage from love19 year old with stars in his eyes
>>362558>I want a beautiful wife and a marriage from love
"I want a beautiful and kind wife. Someone who I can enjoy my time with and a marriage of love,"you reply. Hao Xian raises his brow to your response, clearly not having taken you for a romantic."Ahahahaha, Zheng Li our lover boy!" Yang Jing says as he slaps you on the back. "But why stop at one wife? Take several!"As the three of you drink some more, Yang Jing continues to try and convince you that having more women is better. As the alcohol takes effect, you begin to think Yang Jing is correct.M...Maybe your... you're correct" you say starting to slur, having taken a bit too much to drink. "Why can't everyone love one another? No rea... No reason I can't have five wives who all love me. GIVE ME ALL THE BITCHES!""ALL THE BITCHES!" Yang Jing yells as well.Hao Xian sighs, the only one who has been holding on his liquor.
>>362670A few months pass and on one day an excited messenger comes to Jinyang. He jumps around the streets, waving his hand.“Zhang Jue is dead! Zhang Jue is dead! He fell ill and passed away!”The news has tremendous effects. Without Zhang Jue the rebellion as a whole is surely finished. You hear that most of the rebel troops have been defeated while Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang only hold pockets of troops. It is only time before they surrender or die in their defiance. You and the rest of the generals are summoned to the capital city of Luoyang and many of the Imperial troops return back to the capital stronghold. Many of the generals and lords are given rewards and rank. You hear that Han Fu is given several households to his name in particular and is given total control of Ji province. You are called in to office. Before you a stern looking man looks at his papers. He eyes you with suspicious look.“Zheng Li... It seems you have done a service to the Han. It was with your aid that the rebels were defeated. Normally, I would think to reward you with a commandery and gold but...” he looks back at his papers. “My record states you are rude and rebellious. When you met with an official sent to inspect the army, you were lax in maintaining your men. It says here you openly defied the official stating you were not officially a part of the government.”The man drums his fingers on his table.“We would also normally punish you for such actions. But considering your service, I think the best reward for you would be for past transgressions to be removed.”How do you feel and how you reply?>you feel angry>you expected no less, and you are ambivalent >explain to the man that the official was corrupt>thank the official and take your leave>remain silent
>>362674>>remain silent>>you feel angry
>>362674>>you expected no less, and you are ambivalent>>explain to the man that the official was corruptJust calmly explain the official was corrupt. If we get angry and shit we're just proving the report correct.
>>362674>you feel angry, but keep it internal>thank the official and take your leaveNo point arguing with these fools.
>explain that the official was corrupt>thank the official and leave
>>362674>you feel angry>thank the official and take your leaveFuck these Eunuchs, let's go look up Yuan Shao and see if we can't get shit rolling.
>>362674>>you expected no less, and you are ambivalent>>thank the official and take your leave
>>362699He Jin has got you covered on that front. We should focus on preparing ourselves for what comes after.
>>362713oh yeah, I forgot about that fun little footnote.GG Eunuchs
Rage burns inside you and you grit your teeth. You think of arguing against the man and speaking against the corrupt officials, yet you realize it would like be a pointless affair. The man before you is likely corrupt as well and you would only further get in trouble for speaking. You do your best to calm down, taking a small breath as you bow to the man."Thank you for your generosity," you say. "Then this Zheng Li shall take his leave."The official nods as your humility and dismisses you with a wave of his hand. You nearly slam a hand against the walls of the governmental complex as you make your way back to your troops. When you arrive, you inform Hao Xian and Yang Jing of what transpired.Yang Jing tosses a jar in anger."Just how many men have we lost, and how many battles have we won? All for those blasted donkey fuckers to dismiss us like that.""The Han is full of ingrates and I expect it to fall," you say with a shake of his head. You and Yang Jing share your distastes. Hao Xian remains silent for the most part until the both of you are down griping.
>>362764"Complaining about the current issue will get us nowhere," Hao Xian says. "Zheng Li, Yang Jing, we must now discuss our future." You both look at Hao Xian. "Our victories and efforts were not pointless. We have made friends with ranking officials and several people know of out names after our victory. Right now we hold fifteen hundred men and we can expand on that more."Hao Xian raises two fingers."We have two options. We may go serve one of the lords and go under their service. Han Fu, Yuan Shao, Tao Qian. We have made friends with them. Under their service we may render meritorious deeds and in the future gain rank. I also hear several new rebellions are occurring in Liang province and Dong Zhuo has been sent to quell them, while in the Southlands Sun Jian has been sent to combat the rebellion of Ou Xing. Serving any of these lords could further our cause. But... If we were to hold more ambitions..."Hao Xian folds his arms."We can form our own army and base. The current situation is that the capital is in disarray and many bandits roam the land. We could easily start by taking a village... Be it through convincing them or by force. We can keep building our forces and resources, and eventually we might take a city, then a commandery, a province, and so on. Or... If we would all want to be a bit more devious... We could serve a lord and eventually replace him. Whatever the case, I think that Zheng Li is more than capable of leading us as a lord."You and Yang Jing remain silent as Hao Xian explains. There is a lot to consider now that lords all over the land have been given rank. With your prediction that the Han may collapse soon, there are many opportunities present before you. After careful debilitation, you decide:>serve [choose lord] as a vassal>serve [choose lord] and plan to take over his position>remain independent and attempt to form your own base of operations
>>362768>>remain independent and attempt to form your own base of operationsDang it, I want to be the independent faction! But in a pinch, we should work for Yuan Shao, since he's kind of based, or at least try to poach Zhang He as soon as we can
>>362768>Serve Yuan ShaoNOBILITY
>>362768>remain independent and attempt to form your own base of operationsThere are lots of opportunities here if we play this smart. Let's see how this goes. If we can establish a position in the Central Plains before Cao Cao we could be a force to be reckoned with. And like the guy above me said if it doesn't work out for any odd reason and we haven't burned that bridge we can always work for Yuan Shao.
>>362768>>serve [choose lord] as a vassalYuan Benchu
>>362768>serve Yuan Shao as a vassalReally want to see where this takes us.
>>362768>Serve Yuan Shao
>stay independent>see if we can peacefully take a town bordering yuan shaos landWe can be buddy buddy with based yuan shao, then when he begins expansion we can enter his employ as the prefect of that city & get all the perks of >>358522
>become independentCan we not be lame? This is a chance to collect heroes, kill the emperor, rape his daughters, make Cao Cao our bitch.
I mean, It's a little meta, but if we take a town now, and build up a decent army near Yuan Shao's land, then we can bro it up when he leads the rebellion vs Dong Zhuo and end up fairly close allies in the north. At which point we can Cao Cao it up *before* cao cao manages to set himself up, poach Zhang He for ourself, steal all the land, fuck all the widows, and then not get our navy burned to shit when we invade the south.Plus, I'd just find it more fun to be the one running things instead of just a general or an errand boy. I mean really, where's your AMBITION? AMBITION is the entire point of the Three Kingdoms period.
Go EXTREMELY NORTH in Ji to serve Liu Yu. He's a good guy.
>>362768>remain independent and attempt to form your own base of operations
>>362768>>serve Yuan Shao as a vassal
Rolled 1 (1d2)If 1, Serve Yuan ShaoIf 2, Become Independent, but preferably be buddies with Yuan Shao
>>362844Just vote to be independent man. All the benefits of broing it up with Yuan Shao, but still having actual control over our territory. Hell, we'd HAVE territory. Where's your AMBITION?
>>362848Ehhh I dunnothey both seem like attractive options to me. Serving under Yuan Shao seems like it would be so different from any other Three Kingdoms thing I've seen, but so would just going full independent.I think Independent is currently in the lead anyway so it doesn't seem my vote will matter. We totally do need to nab Zhang He though, I'm deadset on that
>>362768>>362768>Serve Yuan Shao
>>362869Well, the only other 3K I've seen is the one where we work for Lu Bu, so I kinda just want a nice change of pace. And working under someone in that one was only decent because we were effectively a founding member of that faction, and we bro'd it up with Lu Bu for ages prior. If we join under Yuan shao now, we're just going to be another general for a long while, whereas starting our own faction we can ally or even go full Cao Cao and rule the north. Also, joining under someone you DON'T intend to betray just seems boring to me. It's a 3K quest, we should be ambitious! Also We absolutely need to poach Zhang He, I agree. He's way too hype.
>>362768>serve Yuan Shao as a vassal
You think over the situation. It boils down to two decisions for you; to serve Yuan Shao who certainly has the resources and supplies needed to raise your clan's esteem or to find your own base and rise up from humble beginnings. After a long thought, you ball your hands in to a fist."I have decided," you announce. "We shall form our own faction. The land is in turmoil and the government looks to collapse any moment. Now will be the time to test my mettle and see if I can make a name for myself."You turn to Hao Xian and Yang Jing."Will you two follow me? The times and trials will be difficult and we do not know if we can even succeed."Hao Xian and Yang Jing both bow to you. They draw their blade and they make a solemn oath. "Though the past year, I have seen what you can do and we have fought many battles. I hold no qualms in naming you my lord, and I would serve you with my utmost. I swear by the heavens and my name, or may a thousand curses be placed upon me," says Hao Xian."I don't think I have met anyone that could beat me in combat, and displayed such might in the battlefield. No man can hold command over me besides you," Yang Jing says. "I swear to slay your enemies and fight for your cause."You nod to your two companions. You prepare the Dawn Tigers to leave.
