No more marching through filthy peasant villages administering the Queen's justice, this is your chance to rise through the ranks of her Majesty's armies and become one of her generals, or so you thought. Being placed in a garrison out in the middle of nowhere wasn't the promotion you had imagined, but after the death of your commander, your rise through the ranks seemed that much more possible. Through your leadership, your garrison holds its ground through an assault and infiltration by rebel forces and manages to capture two of its heroes. After transporting the two of them to the Capital, Queen Quintis decided to promote you to Captain and to add you to her collection of personal agents.“Just this,” you lean in and kiss Selenas. Her eyes widen in surprise and she immediately shoves you away.“What the? Baldr! What the hell are you doing?” Selenas shouts.Surprised at her reaction the truth leaves your lips “I thought you said you cared about me?”“I-I do, but not like that! You’re the man who saved me from my own ignorance, taught me how to think and feel and act for myself. You’re mentor to me and someone I’ve come to depend on, but I just can’t see you as my lover.” Selenas says her tone apologetically sad. “I’m sorry if you feel differently, but this is just how I see things between us.”>“I see, then I’m sorry Selenas, I didn’t know you felt that way about me.”>“But I can be more Selenas, I can still your dependable mentor as well as your lover.”>“If that’s how you feel, then fine, I’ll let you think and act for yourself, from now on you’ll receive no advice from me.”>[Write In]

I can’t always be right” You say flashing Selenas a weak smile. She returns your smile adding, “Thanks for understanding Baldr.” Selenas exhales letting her shoulders and head droop. “I should get going, today has been draining and I doubt tomorrow will be any easier.” Selenas turns and heads down and out of the alley offer you one last apologetic smile and a “Good night Baldr,” before disappearing from sight. All at once the pain in your chest explodes and you lean heavily on your halberd to stop from collapsing. Dammit how stupid could you have been! You think to yourself while you try to calm down. Gods you almost wish you’d never been taken off the elven front. You could be hunkered down avoiding arrows right now instead of getting your heart broken. It is then that you hear it, the drunken and slurred singing emanating from further down the alley. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHcunREYzNYMoments later Randolf staggers into view at the alley mouth. He stares blearily into the dark alley before taking a swig from the bottle in his hand and giving the alley a second harder glance. “Captn’ Baldr.” He slurs quizzically, leaning up against a wall to support himself. “What’re you doing ‘ere.”You thought you’d seen Randolf drunk before, but his current state makes you question whether he was even drunk the previous times.>Remain quiet and don’t move maybe he’ll just move on.>“Yeah it’s me, I was just out for a walk.”>“The better question Commissar, is what are you doing out here, or better yet where have you been for the past few days”>[Write In]

>>3165505>>3165588>>3165630You are NOT in the mood to deal with your drunken commissar right now. So you opt for discretion rather than valor and freeze where you are. Randolf squints trying to focus on you, but in the darkness of the alley he just can’t make you out. He belches, shrugs, takes another swig from his bottle and staggers off down the street. You let out a sigh of relief and take the back way out of the alley and make your way back to the inn. Following Selenas’s advice, you head off to bed. You’d need as much sleep you could get in the coming days. The following morning while you were enjoying last nights warmed up stew, a runner entered the inn. “The Sergeant Major would like to see you Captain,” the woman said snapping you a sharp salute.“Did she happen to say why,” you say pulling yourself onto your feet.“No sir,”“Figures.” You mumble to yourself. “Lead on solider.”The Sergeant Major’s office was more chaotic than a battlefield with runners moving every which way, some tripping over each other. Over the yelps of pain, muttered swears and apologies, the Sergeant Major’s voice carries true. You make your way through the press of runners all of them making space for you, either out of respect for your rank, or out of fear of having their feet stomped on by a man in full plate. When you finally get close enough for the Sergeant Major to notice you she merely gives you a cursory glance with her extremely tired eyes. “Captain Baldr, I have the Turaif team ready to go, the command is yours to take if you so wish.”>“I’d be happy to take command. When you arrive in Turaif find Sergeant Ren, he was the leader of the squad I sent to secure the village. After you finish your mission in Turaif, head immediately to the mercenary’s base, and meet up with the rest of the assault force we’ll launch the attack as soon as you arrive.” Looking back up from the map, the Sergeant Major gives you a salute, “Good luck Captain.”“To you as well Sergeant Major,” you respond in kind with your own salute, before making your way back out to of the crowded office. Finally, it was time to mobilize. You make your way back to the inn to collect your team and to their luck, they were all awake already. On the way to the stables, you explain the mission. “We’re heading back to Turaif, we’re going to try and get some of the locals to help us in the coming fight before heading to mercenary base for the assault.”“Finally, it’s about time we wrapped things up and got to some place with better booze.” Randolf grumbles.Arriving at the stables, you find none other than the recruits you’ve been training waiting for you.“Oh no,” Mildri whines, the last time she had seen them, they were a bunch of bumbling idiots, but you made at least some progress with them. The first one to greet you was your junior NCO Benson. “Captain,” he snaps a sharp salute, and the rest of the assembled recruits do the same. “Are you the one leading the mission sir.”“Indeed I am Benson, now get the rest of the men ready to go we leave now, I want to make good time understand.”“Yes sir,” he gives you another salute and begins to gather the recruits.“These snot nosed brats are our backup,” Randolf says surveying the recruits, “I’d rather a pack of wild dogs, they’d at least put up a fight.”“They’re who we’re going to get so no complaints.” You give Randolf a rather withering glare. “No mount up we’re moving out.”>The trip to Turaif will take a few days, do you wish to continue the recruits training on the way there, or let them rest?
>>3167450Continue training and let them rest the last couple of days , if they improve, of course

>>3167450>>3167541>>3167707The first day of the journey was uneventful and at the pace you were going you’d reach Turaif the day after tomorrow. As the sun began to set, you called for a halt and had camp set up for the night. It took longer than expected, as setting up a camp and picketts for a large group was something you hadn’t done in a while and with some of them not knowing how to pitch a tent, you only had the last few rays of sun left with which to train the recruits.“Alright a troop, now just because we’re on the march, doesn’t mean your training won’t continue. Tonight we’re going through some serious combat training and drills, so I’ll need a volunteer.” You scan the assembled recruits and easily pick out Benson. “Benson come over here. Now I’m going to be coming at you full speed and I don’t want you to take it easy on me, because I won’t be going easy on you, and neither would a real life opponent. Now let’s go.”Pulling out your shortsword, you advance on Benson and the mock combat begins>Since this is mock combat, only dice bonuses will be applied not defensive or damage ones. Benson bears down on you pushing the momentum he has gained as far as he can, but it is not enough. Your stop thrust aimed at his face catches him completely off guard. He tries to pull away but your blade makes a shallow cut in his cheek. Startled, he swings wildly trying to fend you off, but you easily parry one of his strikes and deliver a solid punch to his chest, knocking the wind out of the poor lad. You follow up by sweeping his legs out from under him and finishing him by placing the tip of your sword to his neck. “Match over,” you announce rather more smugly than intended, but nonetheless, the battle is over and you sheathe your shortsword and help Benson back to his feet.“Now let’s analyze this fight shall we,” you begin, turning to face the recruits “Let’s start by analyzing Benson’s performance. Now he started off by attacking and trying to overrun his opponent before the fight could really even get going. A sound strategy, and one I myself often do, but it is important to keep a clear head when doing so, or you could end up like Benson here. One counter attack was all it took for his assault to fall apart, he got one scratch and panicked allowing me to take the initiative and win the fight. Now I don’t fault Benson for that he’s still inexperienced, as are the rest of you, and I expect almost all of you will panic your first time in a fight as well. That is why we are practicing tonight, I want to train that panic out of you so that when the first clangs of steel are heard, none of you will wet your pants. Now let’s examine my performance. I started off fighting defensively, it doing so I may have given up the momentum, but I never lost my cool under pressure, and that allowed me to analyze my opponent, getting a feel for his movements and attacks. Then when I saw my moment for a counter attack I took it and never let go. I launched my own assault and kept it up until I won. If everything I just said went over your heads, let me distill it down for you. In combat, the man who he keeps his cool is the one who wins. Whether I was holding my defenses up, or pushing my advantage I always kept a cool head and that is what allowed me to prevail. Now I want each of you to partner up and begin sparing, show me what you’ve learned.”
>>3171895Speech finished, the recruits pair up and begin to spar, while you take some time and check to make sure Benson is okay. “You alright son? I didn’t hit you too hard did I?”“No sir, I’m fine, I just need a moment to catch my breath.”You quickly examine the cut on Benson’s cheek. It was a shallow little slice, but it was still bleeding so you dab a way the blood with some clean linen from your satchel. “Well lad it looks like you’ve got your first battle scar, consider it my gift to you for being my sparring partner for today.” You say with smirk, Benson smiles causing his cheek to bleed some more. “Tell you what kid, go to my mage, Mildri, and ask her to make you some ice. Wrap the ice in the linen and hold it to your cheek, now stop smiling, you’re making it worse. Then come back here and help me supervise the rest of these recruits so that no one ends up killing anybody.”Benson hurries off still smiling while you turn your attention to the rest of the recruits. They must have learned something from your talk because they all performed pretty well and by the time last of the light dies, you feel like they’ve made some progress. I don’t know wh-”“Wait, did you say Baldr, thee Baldr.”“Yeah, do you know him?”“No, but a couple a nights ago I was at that bar on the south side of town and there was a merchant there who had just come from the Capital. He was telling the barkeep about what was going there and I happened to overhear some stuff. He said that some guy named Baldr had just captured two heroes of the rebellion and brought’em to the Capital for the Queen’s judgement. He said that Baldr met with the Queen herself and that when he came out of the Queen’s tower he was carrying some lady with him, there’s even rumor that says it was one of them heroes he brought back brainwashed to be his personal slave.”“Pff, shitting me,”“No, no the merchant said he was drinking with one of the soldiers who escorted’em and he told him that on the way to the Capital that Baldr saved them from a stampede, slaughtered an entire group of bandits all on his own, and even told some kind of spirit that was stopping the caravan to fuck off and it did.”“Yea, uh-huh, and how many drinks had this merchant had, and how many had you gulped down.”“I’m telling ya it’s the truth.”“Okay let’s say for a minute that I actually believe your horseshit story for a second, how do you know that this Baldr, is thee Baldr.”“I don’t know, there’s something about him, maybe it’s the way he talks, how he walks, or how easily he put Benson on his ass. Then there’s that girl he’s got with him she doesn’t look or sound like your typical bodyguard does she?”“Maybe that’s the point, while you’re focusing on her pretty face and walk or you just dismiss her and focus on the big armored guy, you won’t notice when she unsheathes that sword on her belt and guts you with it.”“I don’t know man, all this just fits a little too perfectly.”“Just your tiny brain fits into your thick skull a little too perfectly.”“Oh, shut up,”>Intervene and set the record straight.>Let them speculate, there’s no harm in it.>Dismiss their theory, and add in a few more heroic deeds to your legend.>[Write In]

Realizing who you are they quickly let their weapons fall to their sides. “Oh, Captain, we didn’t see you there.”“We were just-”“Clucking like a couple of hens.” You interrupt. “I suggest you save your gossiping for when you aren’t in enemy territory.”“Y-Yes sir, we will sir.” One of the recruits stammers giving you a salute and elbowing his companion into doing the same. You give both of them one last hard glare before leaving and heading back to your tent.>You’ve made the correct choice anons, the lore of your deeds spreads through the camp leaving the recruits in awe of their possibly legendary Captain. During the day you notice more and more recruits whispering behind your back and giving you rather curious and inquisitive stares. As the sun sets on another day of traveling, you call a halt and order the camp to be set up. On one of your trips through the camp to make sure that everything is being set up correctly, you find a small crowd of recruits around an absolutely giddy Randolf. “Of course it’s all true, that’s why I’m here to chronicle this great hero’s deeds.” Randolf bursts out in to a fit of uncontrolled laughter as you approach the group.“Ahh, I see that you all don’t have enough to do, let me rectify that.” You announce, the entire group whirls around at the sound of your voice, their faces sharing that special kind of terror that only a recruit can show in the face of an angry superior officer. “All of you are going to set up the rest of the camp’s tents for the rest of the trip, and if that isn’t enough to keep you busy, I’ll have you clean the entire units gear. Now get back to work!” you bark causing the whole lot of them to scatter and return to setting up tents, leaving just Randolf sitting in the sand laughing his ass off.“Captain, you won’t believe what these lads are saying about you. They think-”“Whatever you tell them my chronicler.”“They were telling stories, long before they asked me who you were.”“I see. Clearly you don’t have enough work to do either Commissar, so you will be joining the unit in its next training exercise.”“Oh it was all in good fun Captain w-”“And that’s just what the training will be, good fun.” You turn away from the commissar and head off to inspect the recruits work.>You will reach Filt tomorrow at around noon do you wish to have additional training tonight?

Pulling his canteen out, Randolf takes several gulps and wipes the sweat from his brow before putting his mace and buckler.“There you have it, fighting as a team we overcame a rather tough opponent. Now, I want you all to pair up with two others and practice fighting together three on three. Get to it.”The recruits all pair off and begin to practice. You Captain, are a hard man. Hard with your words, hard with your appearances, and hard with your actions, you’re a regular rock you are. But, then again, I’ve known a lot of commanders who were hard, maybe it’s just something that comes with command.” You remain silent and quicken your pace to your tent hoping that when you arrive, Selenas and Mildri will be there and help you end this drunks rambling.“In almost every commanders case though, there is something. Some small thing that they all do, a remnant of their past perhaps, but they all have some small thing that shows softness, the chink in their armor of hardness if you like and I think I know what yours is Captain. It’s that girl Captain, you know who I’m talking about. Now I have my own theories about why you’re soft with her, but I’d like to hear it from you, why her Captain, what is she to you? The last time we were there, as you can all remember, the locals said that the mercenaries were sure to come back for revenge. I will scout the area and see if the mercenaries have indeed come back, if so, I will come back to you with a battle plan, if not I will make first contact with the locals. While I’m gone, Randolf, you will be in charge of the recruits. I want you keep them moving to Turaif, and get them used to taking commands from you. Now, any questions?”Randolf’s face lifts in genuine surprise. “None from me Captain,” he says bewildered that you’d leave him in charge after your conversation.“Do you want the rest of us to stay with the Randolf?” Mildri inquires.“Yes, if I go alone it will look less suspicious, and it will make it easier for me to scout things out.”Selenas gives you a worried look, but remains silent.“No other questions? Then this meeting is adjourned, now all of you get some rest.”(1/2)
>>3189533You reach out to Selenas through your ring. “Hold back a moment. I need to speak with you.”She gives you a subtle nod and slowly makes her way to the exit while the others depart first. “Are you sure that you don’t want me to go with you? It will be dangerous out there and, I don’t feel entirely safe alone here with Randolf.”“I will be fine, and don’t worry about Randolf, I doubt he will try anything, and besides you and I will still be able to communicate,” you say tapping your ring.“But we’ve never tried to communicate over such a long distance? What if-”“That is why I wanted you to hang back, we’re going to thoroughly test these rings tonight. To start with I want to see if I really can protect you from harm.”“Okay, punch me then.”You aim a soft punch towards Selenas’s shoulder. You make contact without feeling anything.“Nothing happened,”“Maybe it has to be some serious damage. Punch me again, this time aim for my face, and punch like you mean it.”You’re not entirely comfortable decking her in the face for a second time, but you follow through regardless. You throw a punch with all your might at Selenas. This time you feel something. The ring on your finger itches and burns as your fist approaches her face. You focus your thoughts on the ring and on the burning when suddenly, your fist makes contact with a magic barrier a few inches from Selenas’s face. You feel and intense burning, aching sensation on your face were your fist would have made contact with Selenas’s.Selenas recoils in shock. “Um Baldr, you have a bruise on your face.”You reach up and wince in pain as your fingers find the bruised flesh of your face.“Well it looks like my ring works, try yours, can you heal this?”(2/3)
>>3189539“Um, I can try.” Selenas holds out her and palm facing you and closes her eyes in concentration. “It’s not…” Selenas opens her eyes again then stops “Wait a minute.” She begins to stare intently at your face when suddenly, a cool sensation spreads over the bruised area and when you poke at it with your fingers you are no longer rewarded with pain. Selenas’s gasps for air and clutches at her chest while she leans on the tent’s wooden support to steady herself. “I think… my heart stopped… for minute there…” Selenas gasps between breaths “Your bruise is gone… at least. I couldn’t heal you with my eyes closed…. Maybe I have to be able to see your wounds to heal you?”“And maybe I have to be able to see the damage coming to protect you.” You close your eyes and aim a backhanded swing at where you last saw Selenas’s arm.“Ow,” Selenas yelps.“Yes it looks like I have to see you too in order to protect you.”“Well now that I’m injured, do you want to test out how far we can communicate from?”“No, we’ll have to test that tomorrow, when I can go a serious distance away from you. Let’s just get some rest for tomorrow okay.“Okay.”And with that Selenas departs and you lie down for some much needed sleep. The following morning, you pack your things, drape yourself in a large cloak to conceal yourself, and you head off toward Turaif. Checking in with Selenas every so often to make sure you can still communicate. The farther you travel the fainter Selenas’s voice grows until you can no longer hear her. You ride back into range and give her a rough estimate of how far you’ve gone. As you approach you watch as the black mass of mercenaries spreads out and one section breaks off entirely from the main force. You are greeted at the entrance to Turaif by a group of polearm equipped guards. “Hold!” one of them shouts as you pull back on your horses reigns and come to a stop just shy of their outstretched weapons. “What business do you have here stranger?”“Who I am is not important, but my message is, there are armed mercenaries on the outskirts of this town and they are riding here to kill you as we speak.”The guard grows deathly serious “How do we know that you aren’t one of these mercenaries stranger here to see who we’d react to a sudden attack, then plan on a way to attack us. Dismount from your horse stranger.”You didn’t have time for this crap, throwing the hood back on your clock and revealing your face you shout “I am Captain Baldr an agent of the Empire and I am tell you that an enemy force is on its way to attack you!”One of the guard’s faces lights up “Sir,” he says addressing the apparent leader of this group of guards. “He’s the one who killed the mercenaries here a week ago and had that Sergeant Ren sent here to help us.”“Oh Great Shana.” Another guard murmurs, mouth agape, he points behind you to a growing black mass on the horizon. It looks like the mercenaries picked up their pace. The leader of the guards turns to one of his stunned compatriots and screams at him to go get Ren. Mission accomplished, you consider riding back to your men and getting them to pick up the pace to come and help Turaif, but a rider exiting the town before an attack is a classic symbol of a call for help and might draw some attention your way.>Hunker down and aid in the defense of Turaif.>Ride out and head for your men, damn any pursuers>[Write In]

Those mercenaries would ride you down moments after you left the town, and while you are confident enough in your riding skills, mounted combat was something you’d never done before and you doubt that those mercenaries would give you the chance to learn. Wheeling your horse around, you ride through the guards who are too busy hurrying citizens to safety to give you any mind and chase after the guard sent to deliver your warning.“Where is this Sergeant Ren,” you shout at the running guard as you come up alongside him.In too much of panic to care the guard answers “That stone building over there,” he points to the one solid structure in the entire tent town.“I will deliver the warning, you get these civilians out of the way and to some place safe.” You spur your horse forward and ride through the milling crowds of people. As you make your way to the building, panic begins to spread in a steady wave behind you. Some people freeze in shock, others panic, scream, run, and trample. You avoid most of the frenzied citizens by being above and ahead of the panic. Reaching the building, you dismount and are stopped at the door. This time, the guards bear the armor and weapons of Imperial soldiers. “I am Captain Baldr of her majesty’s service here to deliver a warning to a Sergeant Ren.”Whether it was your authoritative tone, above grade armor, or just the look in your eye, the soldiers let you pass without a fuss. Immediately inside the door you walk into the one room occupying the whole building, in which an extremely clean looking man in Imperial army argues with a man you recognize to be the guard captain you’d seen earlier. Their argument ceases when you enter.“Captain Baldr?” The guard captain asks surprised and unsure if it’s really you.“Yes, I am Captain Baldr, but we have no time for pleasantries at the moment. Mercenaries are about to attack the town and I need both of you to gather as many men as you can at the southern side of town to meet them.”Recovering quickly from the news the guard captain is the first to speak, “Yes sir. Ishta get your men moving and…” he exits the room bellowing more orders. The Sergeant on the other hand stares dazedly at you until you go over grab the man by his shoulders and haul him to his feet. “Did you hear me Sergeant, I said get your men to the south side of town now!” you bellow at the man.The Sergeant shakes himself and gives you a now focused look. “Right away Captain,” he barks before dashing out the door you came in and yelling at the two stationed guards.(1/2)

If want to stand any chance, you’ll have to link up with the others. Climbing over the remains of man and horse you make your way toward Sergeant Ren and his squad. On your way however two broken but alive mercenaries clamber to their feet and block your path. The dumb bastards would have lived longer if they’d have stayed down, but it looks like you’ll have to put them down now.Baldur Blooddragon>HP: 20/20>Attack Bonuses: >Decent Weapon +1>Defense Bonuses:>Full Armor +3 >Misc. >>3196131It would be much longer fight if not for that grenado. Or shorter one.Continuous how fucked we were right there in scale of 1 to 10?
>>3196136I wonder if we can salvage some of their armor disguise some of our troops, if we manage to get all of them they won't know their raid was a bust
>>3196085>>3196091>>3196092>>3196095>>3196128>>3196131Still holding on to the saddle, the solider tries to stab the rider but has his blow blocked by the rider’s scimitar. Reacting quickly the solider slides his shortsword down and imbeds it in the rider’s thigh. The rider lets out a yell of pain and tries to slash at the solider, but cannot as with his hand now free the solider grabs the rider’s wrist and pulls hard. Both of them topple from the horse and land kicking up a cloud of sand and dust. Still holding onto the mercenary’s sword arm the solider pulls a dagger from his belt and rolls on top of the mercenary. In one quick thrust the solider jams his dagger under the mercenary’s chin and into his brain. With the last of the escape’s dead all there was left to do now was… Suddenly and arrow flits past you and you hear a shout. The recently victorious solider was now running back toward you arrows and javelins chasing him. Javelin narrowly clips the soldier’s side and he stumbles but stays on his feet. Behind him 5 mercenaries on horseback with short bows and javelins ride close hopping to save their few remaining friends. You glance behind you and realize that the mercenaries you hadn’t killed had regrouped and were now advancing toward you whether it was to escape or to finish you off it didn’t matter. You had 5 fresh mercenaries on horseback firing missiles in front you and 10 battered, bloody, and desperate mercenaries behind you. Things were not looking good.A sharp blast of a horn draws your attention and at the end of the road behind the battered mercenaries. A legion of guardsmen pours into the street and begins a wild charge toward you. Reinforcements were on their way, but they wouldn’t get there in time to save you from the oncoming mercenaries. Thinking quickly you shout at Ren and his squad to…>Charge the mercenaries (Select either the cavalry or the ones on foot)>Hold position and get ready to receive the charge>Retreat into the tents you’ve got to get out of this arrow fire>[Write In]

>>3196150Just for clarification the guardsmen are on foot.
>>3196150>Charge the mercenaries (Select either the cavalry or the ones on foot)The ondes on horseback, charge to close the distance and whiever has polearms and spears brace them for the charge.
>>3196150>Retreat into the tents you’ve got to get out of this arrow fireWhat we just did we maximized our damage to mercenaries. Now lets minimaize our loses. If we attack wounded ones we show our backs to archers. If we attack archers they can skyrmiah us and we are wornable to charge from behinde. Let them go. Most of them are wounded we can catch up to the easily their horses arledy traveled today and we probably can find fresh one in the city so yeah let them go for now catch them later.

Get in the tents!” You scream as more arrows and javelins start to land around you. “Get…uh” The breath catches in your throat as an expertly aimed arrow slams into you. You turn your head slightly and are met with a searing pain. Sticking out between your neck and collar bone was an arrow. You simply stare at the obstruction before the screaming around you pulls you back. Two of the other soldiers have javelins jutting out of their chests, a third has an arrow stuck in his arm, while the rest of the soldiers look relatively fine. Noticing your wound, Sergeant Ren continues shouting your orders as he and his men help to pull you into a nearby tent. Once inside he orders his more healthy men to guard the flap while he examines his wounded men and sits you down on the floor. You take this brief respite to check your wound. The arrow was sticking out the left side of your neck. Upon reaching for the thing, you find it painful if not difficult to move your left arm correctly. You’re still alive, but damn if that arrow didn’t try its best. You wait for the mercenaries to come pouring in the flap any second now to finish you off, a moment that linger and passes. The first man to poke his head through the flap nearly got it cut off “Wait!” the guard screams holding up his empty hands. The men in the tent breathe a collective sigh of relief as the guard goes on to explain “The mercenaries are gone. We ran down the ones on foot, but those horse archers got away. Come on out its safe now.”“Do you have any healers?” Ren asks starring worriedly at the wounded.“I’ll have to check with the boss, hold on.” And with those words the man disappears behind the tents flap.“They’d better,” Ren murmurs almost inaudibly. You’re about to say something when Selenas’s voice begins to call out to you faintly from the ring, “Baldr, can you hear me, Baldr.”“Yes,” Even the voice in your head sounds weak and distant.“Baldr,” Selenas breathes a sigh of relief “Oh good, how did your mission go?”“Bad, Selenas, the mercenaries attacked when I arrived. We fended them off but I’m injured. Tell the Randolf to double time it down here understand.”“Okay, we’ll hurry to you just hold on Baldr.” And with those final words Selenas’s voice fades out.>Get on your feet you’ve got no time to lie around being injured.>Just wait for the healers, you’ve done your job for the day.>[Write In]

>>3196523>>3196540>>3196546>>3197029>Last post of the thread, we’ll pick up next thread some time tomorrow. Way to go boys things got a little hairy at the end there but you pulled through. You look up at the still visibly shaken Sergeant Ren, pacing about the room looking from injured solider to injured solider. “Relax Ren,” you attempt to comfort him, or at least make him stop worrying so much “You did good, most of us are still alive and when those healers get here, the ones who are injured will pull through.”“I wish I shared your faith in these local healers.”“Don’t worry my reinforcements will show up soon. There’s a mage with them, who should be able to help.”“I hope for your sake as well as that of my men, that you are right Captain.” With those final words Ren exits the tent. You spend the next few minutes examining your wound and trying not to move your left arm or neck. When the healers finally do arrive, you find out that they are in fact just the local midwives and medicine women not really healers. So for the next few hours you try to keep your tone civil and avoid screaming in pain as they poke and prod at the arrow and slap poultices around the wound. You manage to convince them to not to take the arrow out of you until your mage arrives, you’d rather not have them remove it only to not be able to stop you from bleeding out. Finally as the women get tired of both your struggling and your complaints, one of them spoon some kind of thick bitter sludge into your mouth and force you to swallow, the results are instantaneous. The pain from your wound disappears as does a lot of other sensations, taste, touch, sound, smell until finally your vision starts to get fuzzy around the edges and you blackout.
