You and every line of thought in your brain slams into a halt, struggling to come into terms what you just heard, if that was what you heard at all.Her voice is so quiet it could’ve been swept up by the conversation behind her, Miku’s passionate answers to Aya’s questions being a deafening noise. But the expression she wears and the light blush tell you otherwise. You don’t even notice her saying something until the sentence is halfway done.“You...” Nemuri begins to say, finally finding herself unable to stare into your eyes any longer, “don’t have to answer me now.” But, much more clearly, she adds, “But don’t wait too long, okay?” Seemingly looking for a distraction, she heads to the fridge and opens it, asking you what you want.“I-Is there green tea left?” you manage to get out.“Mmm,” she answers, nodding. With a deft toss, an ice-cold bottle falls into your hands, leaving you to notice how heated your face has become. You bring it up close, the cold sting numbing your cheek and your thoughts. You don’t even notice Aya finishing her interview with Hinami.“How long are you gonna stand there?” Miku asks you, “Come on, we gotta decide on what we’re doing today.”There’s a lapse before your brain can form a cohesive reply. “Aren’t you excited for club activities; what’s going on?”“Hahah,” she weakly laughs, “Seeing Aya reminded me that our club is actually getting noticed whether we like it or not. I just thought, maybe, we should have a back-up plan in case the alien hunt thing doesn’t work too well?”“Oh!” Hinami perks up. “Maybe we can find some inspiration if we take a look around, much like one of those investigations we did.”Nemuri, her cadence betraying nothing, points out, “I think we only really did one.”Miku replies, “One, ten, fifty, who cares? Pulling out your phone and pretending to find something interesting, you only end up tapping blankly at nothing in particular, going through the motion emptily. Why couldn’t you answer? No, rather, what would you answer with? You don’t want anything to change, if you were to be honest. Staying like this is fine, so for her to tell you something like that—“Old ruins, hmm?” Miku reads out loud, leaning over to see Hinami’s phone fully. “Could be interesting.”Hinami explains, “They’re supposedly from an ancient civilization, or something like that. Their dark rituals tainted the earth and still cause it to be cursed to this day.”Nemuri asks, “It doesn’t look like anyone would complain finding us there; it doesn’t belong to anyone.”“Sounds fine to me,” you off-handedly reply. Miku announces, “Great, then it’s settled! Let’s go!”“Right now?” you groan. Well, you shouldn’t stop her when she’s actually interested in something.Reluctant, you follow her out as she leads the way with discomforting energy. You need to snap out of it.[1/2]
>>3069077After a long and treacherous journey, you’re surprised to have found something.A few minutes away from civilization in a sparsely wooded area, the trees stick out of the ground like shriveled, branching spires. Instantly off the beaten road, scattered cobblestone points the way to some proof that someone had the gall to build something out here. And to your surprise, Nemuri hasn’t raised a single complaint. As Miku carefully traverses through the dying grass the uneven terrain it grows on top of, she raises her phone into the air.“Oh, there goes the last of my signal. It looks like if we get attacked by monsters, we can’t call the police,” she informs, “So remember to scream really loudly so that the rest of us know to run away.”You reply, “If Miku screams, we run. If me, Nemuri, or Hinami screams, we go help them. Deal?”Nemuri nods, “Deal.”Hinami replies, “I’m fine with that.”“Hey, don’t turn it around on me!” Miku replies. Finally, she stops at a pile of stone that somewhat resembles a crumbled tower. “Okay gang, let’s split up. We can’t get lose, the road’s... east? West? It’s one of those.”Unbelievable.>Miku.>Hinami.>Nemuri.

Hinami speaks up, “I’ll go with Miku. Just to be safe.”“Safe? Wha—I can take care of myself!” she complains, “Oh, whatever, let’s just go!” Miku storms off pretending to be more annoyed than she actually is.Hinami gives you and Nemuri a little wave before joining Miku, and you, turning to the direction opposite of where they went, say, “Let’s get going, huh?”Your attention flitters to her, but you find yourself unable to look her in the eyes. Why?“Mmm,” she affirms, motioning for you to lead the way.You do so. Frustrated that you can’t act the way you want to, you take out your phone out of compulsion. “We really don’t get a signal out here, huh? I’m surprised you were okay with going out here.”“I’m not. It’s boring,” she replies, “But you all would’ve outvoted me anyways, so I just accepted it.”“Hm,” you start to say, “It doesn’t look like there’s anything interesting out here.”Whatever structures that were built with wood would have long rotted away, and all that’s left are chiseled stone blocks littered across the landscape, some cracked and scattered like pebbles.You...>Find a distraction.>Let the silence be.>Say something. You soak in the atmosphere of these ruins.Though they haven’t been forgotten, no one cares about them anymore. They’re just remains of something lost in time, unverifiable and only as valuable as the names they gave it.You start to doubt that any civilization lived here; it could’ve been someone a few centuries ago who was bored and decided to stack up a bunch of rocks.Though only a tiny fence was erected to keep people out, it was toppled over by what was probably a storm and was left there with no one bothering to fix it. You doubt anyone had even noticed its state at all.Step after step, you go around what likely used to be thoughtful architecutre, the occasional odd shape drawing your attention for no longer than a brief moment, and in the silence, you let things be.You should say something, but you can’t.You want to find something, but there’s nothing to find.In the remains of a place long forgotten, you enjoy the silence. So she’s the one who breaks it first.“Hey,” Nemuri starts to ask, “Why did you join this club?”It catches you off-guard, and you stop to look at her. This time, you don’t instantly turn away.“Miku had the idea, and she needed four members in total. So, I joined in,” you reply, “It wasn’t like I particularly cared about occult stuff. I just thought it would be fun. And then we ended up doing nothing.”“So you didn’t care about it at all,” she notes to herself. That rubs you the wrong way a little.>”I guess that’s right.”>”But I do now.”>”Does it matter? “Maybe,” you start to say. “I kind of just follow the current. If Hanako didn’t step in, we probably would’ve stayed in the club room doing nothing even now. Reading some trashy forgettable thing and eating snacks. But I do care.” You lean against a tree, almost afraid to put your weight against it as it might topple over. “I care about the club and the people in it. I like spending time with all of you. And in a way, it’s gotten me into more of this weird business than I would’ve bothered to otherwise. So...”You trail off, falling quiet. She watches for a second before walking over to a boulder. Folding her skirt underneath her legs, she sits down.Nemuri thinks for a minute, then tells you, “Me too.” Her foot traces a circle, an idle motion. You ask, “...Why did you join this club anyways? I don’t think me or Miku ever bothered you about it.”“My brother,” Nemuri replies. The club advisor. “He was nagging me about joining a club. It’ll look bad if I didn’t, so I did. He told me that the one he was ‘advising’ didn’t require anything of me, so I thought ‘why not?’” She lets out a quiet laugh. “I think Hinami’s the only one who’s actually invested.”That’s true.>”I think it’s gotten better.”>”You’re right. “I think it’s gotten better,” you reply, “Hinami’s definitely the most responsible member, but I think the club is special to all of us in our own ways.”Actually, you have no idea why Nemuri cares. In fact, she seems hate anything that requires energy and effort, and even then, she just accepts everything as if she just goes with the flow.“I thought,” Nemuri tells you, “When I first agreed to join, I was going to do nothing but sleep. I thought if you all kicked me out, I would have an excuse to not join a club.”“That must have been a surprise,” you say, laughing, “I bet you weren’t expecting us to even welcome you.”“That was so unfair.” She smiles softly to herself as she looks downward. “It’s funny, watching Hinami infect the club like this.”You shoot her a suspicious look. “What is that supposed to mean?”“That you care. If I’m going to be honest, I don’t. I don’t believe in demons, in magic, in curses, or whatever flavor of the month mystical thing it is. And even if they do exist, it’s silly to depend on them. After all, the only thing you know for certain are the things you do with your own hands. And even if they do mess with reality, it would be meaningless since you aren’t the one changing the world. In a way, this club just chases after meaningless things, not that there’s anything wrong with that,” she says. She stops. “I don’t know what I’m saying anymore. I’m just rambling.”Soft whispers reach your mind. Those words she said at the shrine that day, those that slipped past you.The fear that you had earlier is temporarily forgotten.“About the date,” you say.You decide your future, don’t you?>”I can’t. You...You...!can’t.The words don’t come out of your mouth. You don’t have someone, but you—Agree to it.Nothing good will come of this. You don’t have feelings for her. It’s just a date. Get to know each other. You already know what will happen, so why?Why can’t you just rip the bandage off?“Got a place in mind?” you ask?It wasn’t like you said it. No, it was as if someone had opened your mouth and moved it to say those words. But you said it.And once they’re said, they can never be taken back.“I can’t promise to make it work, but I can promise to try.”You hate yourself.“Then,” she says, smiling, “There’s a new place my friends told me about. Miku’s shouting catches your attention, and with a bit of effort, you can make out that she’s calling you and Nemuri to meet up.Nemuri sighs as she checks her phone. “Oh right, no signal. Hey, senpai,” she asks, “Should we tell them?”“Let’s not make it awkward around them,” you reply. She smiles, her cheeks slightly tinged red. “If that’s what you say.”It takes a while for you to find Miku and Hinami, and when you do, you find that the former is covered in branches and leaves. She pats one of them off her head and shakes the rest off while you approach. You ask, “What were you up to?”“Investigating,” she replies, “Good news! We found nothing.”“Wha, how is that good news?” You shake your head. “We found nothing too.”“It’s good because we haven’t been cursed yet,” she answers.Hinami adds, “It doesn’t seem cursed. It looks like it was just a rumor after all.”Nemuri, “There’s only rocks around here. Are these even ruins in the first place?”Miku frowns. “I can’t believe the internet lied to me.”Well, it isn’t as if you searched hard, or searched at all anyways. >>3070426Nemuri has always been my favorite. Hinami was technically the first girl probably.
“How about the abandoned farm thing? Wasn’t that close?” you ask.Wondering out loud, Hinami asks, “Where was that again?”“Let me just check—if I could!” Miku exclaims, raising her phone into the air as if it did anything, “Let’s find civilization already!”Nemuri, amused, says to you, “Aren’t you excited to put on a good show for the festival.”“It didn’t seem okay just walking and looking at a bunch of rocks for a while,” you reply.“And now we get to look at a bunch of rusty farm equipment, yay,” she replies, “I promise I won’t complain if you carry me there.”“If you don’t hurry up, you’re going to be left behind,” you say, pretending as if she never said that.[1/2]
>>3070439>Hinami was technically the first girl probably. What are you taking about? Nemuri was literally the first girl we encountered and the first introduced. Hinami was the last member of the club we met
>>3070586That's a good point. I was thinking more about the date-like outing we went on with HInami where we found the cyborg girl.
>>3070496“Ah,” Hinami exclaims as she overlooks the field. It’s overgrown and not with crops. It’s just insanely high grass. “I think we should turn back.”Nemuri says, “We walked all this way, let’s check it out.”“What if there are snakes? There could be things hiding down there and we wouldn’t even know it!”Miku says, “There aren’t any snakes on this part of the country, is there? Plus, the farm is pretty small all things considered. Let’s go!”She wades through the grass as if were water, and you’re left behind to follow. In the distance, you spot a broken shed, and bit farther away is a house. The grass also shrinks in height before a river separates it and the barren land past it where there’s a small wooden structure. You ask, “No one lives here, right? I don’t want to get chased at by some hermit.”Miku replies, “I don’t think so...?”You should check out...>The shed.>The house.>The river.
>>3070591Oh you were talking about the date? Ok I was really confused>>3070600>The shed.
>>3070652You had the right of it. The way you were using 'first girl' makes more sense. I was thinking first girl that anons expressed romantic interest in, but normally when people are talking about the first girl in a quest, they're talking about the first girl ever met. I wasn't thinking that because most of the posts are interactions with the girls, so it slipped my mind that the first ever interaction would be what we were talking about, but really it doesn't make sense to talk about it that way without explaining it.The point is that it was my bad. Whoops.
“Let’s check out that shed over there,” you say. This is a pain to get through, and it looks close enough.Miku wonders, “And what exactly are we looking to find in a shed?”“Shed stuff,” you reply, “And non-shed stuff. Hopefully more of the second thing than the first.”Hinami snorts and covers her face. Miku rolls her eyes as she makes it. The shed itself is on concrete that’s lifted above the ground, meaning when you climb on top it, the height of the grass appears slightly less wild and untamed. Very slightly. There is, however, not enough space for four, so you opt to wait behind as Miku touches the door handle and watches it crumble along with the “lock”.Patting black flakes off her hands, she says, “Does this count as breaking and entering?” She swings the door open and reveals...Well it’s a bit hard to see.Hinami declares, “It’s a shed.”Miku nods. “It is, in fact, a shed.”Exasperated, you turn to Nemuri for help, except once you do, you find no one there. No one’s beside you.“Wha? Nemuri, where did you go?” you call out.Surprised, Miku and Hinami look to see what you’re fussing about, and when they see what you see, Miku says, “Did she just leave us?—“A snake tackles you from behind. A heavy snake, one that grips your shoulders like claws and causing you to jump.“Boo,” Nemuri flatly says, “Gotcha.”You sigh. “Let’s get out of here. Maybe instead of checking out this farm, we should’ve found a better site.”Nodding, Hinami steps down, but behind her, Miku’s studying something inside. She calls out, “Hey wait, I found something, wanna take it?”She brings out what at first you thought was a charm, but on closer inspection, you realize it’s a red piece of worn cloth tightly tied around a serpent-like symbol. The color of the fabric is faded, but you can tell that it used to be intensely vibrant. The piece of steel, however, is jagged and blooms into an intertwining flourish. You say, “That is the most cursed thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”But should she take it?>Yes.>No.
>>3070774>Yes.Obviously she should take it. Why would you ever not pilfer a cursed item? If we can take it instead I'd like to do that though.
“You should definitely take it.”“Should I?” she asks. And then, unusual of her, she says something in return that backs you into a corner. “Then, you take it.” Without warning, she tosses it over to you, and reflexively, you move to catch it.Before you know it, it’s now in your hands. You raise it into the sunlight to better look at it, and the more you do, the worse it feels.Like an unwanted presence.Exhaling loudly as your surrender, you pocket the damned thing and ask, “It’s getting late, we should just get out of here before Miku wants to take more cursed items.”“Take,” she answers, “But you’re the one keeping it, right?”“Shh,” you reply, “No difference.”When you turn around, you see Hinami handing you something. A glance and you see that it’s her charm. Or rather, Miku’s charm that was given to her.Determined, Hinami tells you, “I have no idea what’s going on with you, but I think you’re better off with this than me.” A brief pause when she sees you hesitant, and then she adds, “I am 99% sure you are cursed thricefold and have a hundred furious spirits breathing down your neck because of a broken promise from your ancestors or something, so please, take this.”“Um, okay,” you say, less accepting the charm and more like having it forced upon you, “I’ll, uh, put it to good use.”With that, she declares, “Let’s go, Miku! I think I’ve had enough of curses for one day.” In a huff, she walks off with Miku in tow and you follow behind.Flipping the charm, you put it in another pocket so your superstitious brain can settle down.As you walk through the tall grass, Nemuri lightly bumps into you, shoulder to shoulder. You look at her, only to see a full smile. You deserve this curse.[Chapter 10: “You and Me” - End]

Either way, I’m strapped in and ready for the Bad End which will surely result from this turn of events. Cheers.

I've been hoping more for Aya, personally. And now OP's comments are making me really, really scared about whats going to happen when we push Ryuuta too far in a direction he doesn't want to go.
