Like. No, more like four-sixths Infernus? Five-eights? You feel like you should know this, you passed pre-calc. Forget it. Whatever other fractions are involved, they add up to you being a one-over-one badass Hellborn queen person.Having just schooled another, somewhat lesser demonic princess in the art of getting her face shoved in, you can only suppose you have racked up serious hell points. Things are looking up. You have the Archduke of Mardusia, Prince of the Power of the Air, wanting to team up and reinstall you as the empress of old Chthonia. You’ve got a Kamchatkan landmaster offering you an apprenticeship across the Pacific. And Cassandra said she’s mail ordering you some kind of super anti-material assault rifle. All good things.Of course there are a couple problems. There are always a couple problems. The most pressing of which is the fact that you’re trapped on Alcatraz, surrounded by angry fishmen. But you’ve got this handled. Or maybe your boyfriend does. Whatever, you’ll take credit either way.The other problem is Pallid Mask, one of Old Yeller’s groupies. But you think you can figure out how to deal with him. --Stress: 53/103Sanity: 92/100Fury: 76HP: 29/35PP: 17/47LW: 7/16You and the masked figure at the base of the cliff exchange a short, but significant look. You’re not sure how to fight him. Pallid’s working on different rules. The last time, nothing seemed to have an effect on him. It was only Roger crunching him out of existence that seemed to do the trick – and that’s a trick you don’t know how to do yet.Tiger shuffles up to your side, bristling with shadowy spines. You pat the shalbaan’s bony head to help you think. “Well,” you say to Xan, “if we knock him back in the water, I can keep him there.”The swoop-horned Infernus nods. She slings her rifle over a shoulder and starts scratching runes into her upturned arm with a curved knife. “At your command,” she says. With a mental command to monster, the lizard-bat imp beats his wings and plummets over the heads of climbing Mermenes and other unidentifiable aquatic creatures. He wings straight for Pallid, who makes no move or reaction. You raise a hand, open palm facing the target. “Now!”You compress the shadows in front of Pallid, urging them into a cyclone of impenetrable blackness. At the same instant, Xan bends her knees and whips her claws Spiderman-style toward Old Yeller’s homeboy.
>>301639 The cuts in her arms burn with yellow-red light, and a muggy crimson haze congeals around Pallid’s thin frame.Your magics release. Xan’s red cloud seizes in around Pallid, gripping his limbs and hauling them up toward the water. Simultaneously, your spinning sphere of night bursts outward in a wave. Shadows sweep out with a hammer blow of force. Shadows and blood magic blow over Pallid, washing him off the pathway, down the embankment and toward the churning seas.Monster hits him with another blast of shadows on the way down, knocking him up into the air so he doesn’t snag on the rocks at the water’s edge. Pallid cartwheels wildly through the air in an arc, then splashes down into the water with an underwhelming splash. But he has other ideas of where he wants to be. A second later, his head and shoulders rise back out of the water, completely dry. He continues rising, becoming taller and taller, his figure stretching thin. The way the light falls on him betrays something amiss, like he’s been cut out of some other scene and pasted roughly in front of you. (-2 Sanity: 90)“Sierra!” Xan’s voice distracts you from the sight. You realize she’s gripping your wrist.“Uh. Right,” you say, blinking to clear your mind. You turn your attention back to Pallid – though not too much attention – and concentrate on the waters lapping at the figure’s waist as he wades to the shore. You feel them. They click into your consciousness like a limb that had been asleep. You twist a hand upward and yank back, mirroring the motion in the waters. “Down.”The waters around him start rippling inward. Pallid turns his head downward as he begins sinking. He flails his long limbs in an effort to swim out, but the bay retreats before his touch. He quickly slips below the surface and vanishes, the waters binding him down and down.Waves crash shoreward, the strange figure forgotten. You doubt even solid lead would have sunk as fast as Pallid Mask just did. A Mermene in a set of soaking coveralls manages to haul himself up the cliff just a few yards to your side. He makes it just in time for your Ashwight to charge in and head-butt him in the chest like a ram. The Mermene flops back over the edge, hitting every rock on the way down. He splats on the pavement below, briny blood oozing out from his mangled body.Your Ashwight extends its neck in a peculiarly bird-like motion, its beady eyes glaring down at the thing’s corpse. The demonic beast calls out an angry wailing screech, gesturing its scythed claws in a beckoning, taunting motion. You know, it might not be the best time, but he probably deserves a name. He’s more than earned one today.>Name suggestions (?)>Other (?)

>>301694>>301690Whiskers sounds good I suppose
>>301694Whiskers is definitely the best choice. Fits Sierra's shitty sense of humour
>>301694> Whiskers for me.
>>301694I'm about to go to sleep, but I'm super glad I got to be here for this vote. I don't even care how the combat goes, although I will point out that if we're fighting the Mermenes we DO have an AOE fire explosion skill that we rarely use.
>>301777Also a reminder that Seawater is actually an AMAZING conductor of electricity due the salt bridging. Just things to keep in mind.
>>301777>fire>on water people
>>301783Are they still soggy outside of the water though? Most sea creature do not respond well to it, much less drying out. Also >>301782We have electrical abilities with our shadows yeah? It's a pity Wolf is our transport, his boundary magic could probably fuck with Pallid's grasp on our reality.
You look over the creature’s muscular, bony form. It pops up and cranes its neck, staring intensely at you. Something about the motion reminds you of a cat. What’d be a good name for a cat? Something like Socks or Whiskers or something like that, you guess. Whiskers doesn’t sound cool enough though. How about... singular Whisker. That way it sounds like a verb. “I’m gonna call you Whisker,” you tell the Ashwight.Whisker crooks his head at you and chirps in reply.Xan is smitten immediately. “He is adorable,” she coos.Down below, however, you notice something else coming out of the waves down below on your side – another one of those high-speed giant starfish. It pops up on its limbs and scrabbles up onto shore, rushing past swarming Mermenes for the base of the cliff. (Speedy: 60/60 HP, tough hide)A loud pop announces Wolfgang’s return. “Who’s next?” he asks looking around for somebody to grab. “Let me guess. Not it?” You feel his eyes on the back of your head – you’re too focused on the approaching thing to turn around. >I’m uh, a little busy here.>Xan’s next. Xan, skedaddle.>Orias is, right after he kills this thing.>We need to pick up the pace, Wolf. Let me try something. (Smoke mimic Wolf)>Save your smoke mimic for now. You might need it later. >Deal with starfish yourself, Orias takes a long time to reload (?)>Other (?)
>>301795>We need to pick up the pace, Wolf. Let me try something. (Smoke mimic Wolf)>Xan’s next. Xan, skedaddle. We shouldn't stick around to the end though, if we can do the smoke mimic thing we and Orias should bail after his next shot. I really want a chance to reload and catch our breath prior to throwing down against Old Yeller himself if it comes to that. We've got our summons to cover for us, we could even throw down the Zithether and tell it to go nuts before we peace out.
>>301795>>Xan’s next. Xan, skedaddle.>We need to pick up the pace, Wolf. Let me try something. (Smoke mimic Wolf)I'm leery about leaving, since that would probably release our grasp on the Pallid. But getting out is our main objective, I can't think of how our smoke mimic would be better used - if this works.Apparently I'm not going to bed. Fuck my life.
>>301795Having a mimic around if we need to fight Old Yeller would be great, but I'm going to prioritize making sure everyone gets out safe, so I'mma vote this:>We need to pick up the pace, Wolf. Let me try something. (Smoke mimic Wolf)
>>301795Does the Smoke Mimic have a cooldown, or is it just the Landwell charges?I see no reason why we couldn't spend the 4 LW to smoke mimic now and be able to do it later.
>>301823It has a 24 hour cool down.
>>301795>>We need to pick up the pace, Wolf. Let me try something. (Smoke mimic Wolf)And if it can't port anybody out, well... Wolf can do some lightning tricks, right? It might still make for a nice distraction. Also, Sierra should stay rather long, to keep pallid down. Not last, because I think Ranthix would be better suited for covering the retread, but not that much earlier.
>>301831What about our Drown ability >>301816Does it have a range that we would break if we warped out? Or is it just our Landmaster area of control.
>>301842Also, we have pretty good staying power ESPECIALLY if we're surrounded by mooks.> Bloodrage: Battling opponents raises Sierra's fury. As Sierra's fury increases, so does her strength, speed, and general dangerousness. At 50+ fury or stress, Sierra enters a raging state which she sustains on malice alone. Whenever she slays an opponent nearby, she loses stress and regains a small amount of PP, HP, depending on the power of the foe slain. Passive ability. [IN]That plus our higher than average agility, and the fact that our enemies are sea creatures coming on to land, plus us being the main counter to the Pallid ATM (who is probably walking to land as we speak) we should stick around for at least two more teleports while we go recuperate by ravaging a dude or two.
>>301842>What about our Drown abilityCharacter sheet, broseph.>You (or one of your summons) must be by some means observing the invader to drown them.
>>301858Summon Creature: Sierra can summon creatures composed of magic. She can also pay the power to summon them, but keep them immaterial until she wants to bring them into existence. She can also unsummon a creature and have it return to its immaterial state, without having to spend power to re-summon it. Sierra can command her creatures remotely, though the further away they are the harder it gets to control them. If her summons are in territory she's claimed, Sierra can command them without regard to distance. (Unsummoned creatures fill slots, the number of which is determined by total landwells under Sierra's control.)I feel like we're not abusing the "Summons can go immaterial and return without an extra PP cost" nearly enough.
>>301795>Xan’s next. Xan, skedaddle.>We need to pick up the pace, Wolf. Let me try something. (Smoke mimic Wolf)
>>301795>>Xan’s next. Xan, skedaddle.>>We need to pick up the pace, Wolf. Let me try something. (Smoke mimic Wolf)
“Orias,” shouts Xan, waving to the demon, “we are in need of your dragon gun!”Orias grips his rifle leaps toward you, propelling himself through the air with a single beat of his broad black wings. He skids to a stop by Xanissil’s side in his blue basilisk-leather boots. Without missing a second, he shoulders his dragon gun, levels it at the freak aquarium attraction, and pulls the trigger. The report of the gunshot rattles your skull. But it’s the fast starfish who has a bad day. It explodes and topples backward, a mangled cavity the size of a refrigerator blasted into its face. (Speedy: 4/60 HP)Ranthix opens up with a sustained burst from his machine gun, aiming at something down his end. “A WRAITH APPROACHES,” he shouts, barring his teeth in a snarl. “IT IS CERTAINLY A LIEUTENANT OF OUR FOE.”“I’ll get it,” Rowan calls back, hewing down a Mermene in with her sword. “Let me know when it gets closer!”“AS YOU SAY,” says Ranthix, bursting into flames and body-checking a rubbery-looking Mermene back over the edge. Another tries to crawl up in its place, but Ranthix stomps his clawed foot onto its neck, pinning it to the ground. It coughs and splutters as the Infernus’s fiery foot sears into his flesh. Ranthix twists his ankle and snaps the thing’s neck, and the cries silence.Things are getting heated. You leave Xan and Orias to watch the ledge, and hurry to the newly arrived space wizard. “We need to pick up the pace, Wolf. Let me try something,” you say.He gives you a questioning look. “Go for it?”You feel around within yourself for the Great Lynx’s gift. Finding it, you focus in on the smoky facelessness within your power, and turn it outward. Mists sweep from the air, gliding over Wolf before settling in a pool beside you. (-2 LW: 5/16) They gather thicker and thicker until they form the general impression of a human figure, about Wolf’s size. Then, solidifying in a twisting knot of fog, they dissipate into the air. In their wake, they leave a perfect duplicate of Wolfgang, down to the subtle curl of his hair, the tiny scratches on his steel staff.“Holy shit,” says Wolf, recoiling from his clone. A startled flash of surprise smokes off him.Evil Wolf gives a humorless smile and plants his staff on the ground. “Don’t worry, I’m not here to stay,” he says, his voice matching Wolf’s irony exactly.Real Wolfgang stares in disbelief at mist Wolfgang. Two Wolfgangs. It’s a little more overwhelming in practice than you were prepared for. You chuckle to yourself, unable to stop smiling even with your desperate surroundings. >Get a hold of yourself, there’s stuff trying to kill you.>Wolf! “Now kiss,” you order, twirling a strand of hair on the back of your neck around a bloodied claw. Both Wolfs turn to you with a stern expression. “No,” they say in unison. You snicker at them, smirking to yourself. "C’mon, admit it. This is kinda hot.” Two Wolfgangs, all to yourself. Hehehhehhuehh. (-1 Sanity: 89)“Sierra, quit giggling like you’re twelve,” says fake Wolf. “That’s disgusting. I’m not even real. ”“Yeah, what he said,” says real Wolf. “Don’t get any ideas about this.”You throw your hands into the air. “Ugh. You guys are so lame!” you complain. Whatever. Stupid boring Wolfgang. “Orias, Xan, you’re up!” You don’t even want to see these guys anymore.Orias and Xan fall back from their position, both alarmed by Wolfgang’s sudden division.“This is temporary,” real Wolf clarifies, gesturing between himself and the mimic.“Orias. Xan. Let’s go,” says Evil Wolf, holding out a hand.“Yeah, let’s go,” you say, patting them both on the back and siphoning out some power for yourself. (+5 PP: 22/47Orias shrugs and goes along with it. “I’ve seen stranger things,” he remarks, grasping Evil Wolf’s wrist. The two disappear.“Can I have one?” Xan laughs, taking Wolf’s arm.Wolf shivers, no doubt imagining Xan’s penchant for snacking on leeches.“Hey. Back off,” you say warningly. Xan stiffens and briefly inclines her head. “Apologies, your Terror.”“I’m coming for you next time,” says Wolf, fixing his steely gaze on you. With that remark, he vanishes. You hear a voice in your mind – Monster. Pallid’s coming. “He’s walking along the bottom,” reports the imp, trying to use the waters to keep him in place. “Just keep an eye on him,” you mutter to yourself, scowling. Ranthix shouting draws your attention. “DEMONBANE! IT APPROACHES!”Rowan turns, but she is distracted fighting with a crab-like man, one arm of which is a huge armored claw. She brings down her blade to finish him off, but he’s faster than he looks, and seizes her blade in a massive claw. The two wrestle, though the hulking crab man has the upper hand.
>>302327Xathix ceases trying to fit another magazine to his rifle, and tosses it to the side. “Aggotash!” he bellows, standing up and charging in, skin wreathed in flame. He tackles the crab in the middle, goring it with his horns and knocking it off Ro. He takes it to the ground with him. His claws and teeth are a flurry of fire and blood, felling Mermene after Mermene in his rage.Behind you, without Xan and Orias watching the southern flank, Mermenes begin bubbling over the lip. However what gets your attention is the thing Ranthix is shooting at.It glides up over the precipice before the Thultal, suspended a foot above the ground. It’s eight feet tall, and wears a bleak yellow robe. Its shoulders are incredibly broad – a solid four feet across. Its head is totally covered in a hood. Overtop where its face would be stretches a strange scraggly design, branching out in all directions, even off the material of the hood itself. Power radiates from it in invisible spiraling patterns. (Yellow: >?/|* PP) (-2 Sanity: 87)Ranthix paces back, peppering its cloak with point-blank gunfire. Bullets catch harmlessly in its cloak and rain to the earth below. Words without speech emanate from its depths. “Hastur y'gnaiih ah n'gha gaan'agn ygai-ngah.” Though it only spoke once, the sound of it continues to replay over and over between your ears. (-1 Sanity: 86)Rowan charges forward, sword raised. “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me!” she yells, both her form and blade sheathed gold white in angelic glory. At the same time on your open flank, yet another fast-moving starfish rears up. (Need For Speed: 54/54 HP, armored) It crushes a pair of Mermenes in the way and charges toward you, Ranthix, and Ro.>React (?)>Other (?)
>>302333>React (?)Rifle on the Starfish, boost the rifle with Stain of Sin, make it bleed. Explode in the crowd of Mermenes. Rowan can handle the lieutenant. Reroute Ranthix and Xathix into engaging the mermene while we shoot the fuck out of the starfish.

>>302333>>302360Fine then. I'll swap to his tactical priorities.>>302340I'll change this vote into putting Stain of Sin into Ranthix's M60. Careful not to look too hard at Hassatur’s yellow lieutenant, you rapidly formulate a plan. “Rax! Team attack!” you shout, running toward him. The starfish covers the gap between you with frightening speed.Ranthix takes a knee and racks a fresh belt of ammunition into his machinegun. “GO!”You skid in toward him like you were coming in for home base, and pour a vitriolic batch of corruption into his weapon. (-2 PP: 16) Gun crackling with unholy power, Ranthix opens fire.Bullets shear through starfish meat like your teeth through a strip of bacon. That is... like. Really effectively. Ranthix shoots at the center of mass, assumedly gunning for whatever vital organs the monster has. And whatever he hits, it does the job. The starfish loses balance in its charge and tumbles to the ground, limbs flipping and flopping as it rolls to a stop. The thultal shoots it a dozen more times for good measure, blood and seawater splattering your face.“Hastur y'gnaiih ah n'gha gaan'agn ygai-ngah.” The words repeat again aloud, vibrating on the air. The pressure pricks your consciousness like a rusty nail – you smell blood, your blood. It runs down your nose. (-1 Sanity: 85) (-2 HP: 27/35) (+13 Stress: 66)Ranthix points a claw behind you, his own nose bloodied. “KILL IT,” he advises.“Y-yeah,” you stammer, turning in a daze to track Rowan’s approach. She steps close to the towering yellow figure, and goes in for an underhanded swing. You need to be there. You need to be there right now.Forcing what shadows there are to yourself, you create a circle of night underfoot. Following instinct more than conscious thought, you pull yourself into it with your shadow-self. (-6 PP: 10)You fall into blackness, your shadow sight opening up onto crooked paths, secret ways they’ve traveled since all. Yours takes you curving back upward to a featureless pane of color. Your momentum carries you into it, and it shatters like glass. You leap up through the shadow Yellow casts on the ground, baring your claws. With surgical movements, you strike out a pentagram on the entity’s broad back, and circle it with a flare of power. (-4 PP: 6)The lines light up light-blue, and the corrupting-hex burns its pattern deep into the material of Yellow’s yellow cloak. It smells like burnt hair.Yellow turns half to you. “Hastur y'gnaiih ah n'gha -”A flaming white sword spears his chest from behind, twists, and slices diagonally from his torso. The top half of Yellow’s cloak cringes. The blade hacks again and again at him, revealing Rowan still ablaze with vengeance. She doesn’t let her guard down for a second, choosing instead to channel all her might into delivering blow after withering blow to the monolithic figure. A mob of faceless Mermenes press in at her flanks, hands reaching and grabbing. You fall in line to cover her back. You flail your claws, tail, and wings.
>>302709You sever fingers, bite out a throat, jab the points of your wings into something’s too-many eye sockets. It’s like pulling weeds, there’s always another body behind the next. The briny taste of fish blood rapidly fills your mouth. You wrap your tendrils around one Mermene, hoist him into the air, and electrocute him. Another you spear through with Anatu’s polearm. So many Mermenes. Your arms burn with flames, frying anything that dares try lay hands on you. Their flesh yields, blood weeps from their veins. (+4 HP: 31) (+6 PP: 12) (-4 Stress: 62) (+4 Fury: 80)A vague but familiar presence behind you interrupts your spree. Rowan. You whip around to face her. She speaks, but your heart hammers so loudly that it’s difficult to hear her. “Wolfgang’s back,” she tells you, jerking a thumb over her shoulder. With a snap, another one appears. “Both of them,” she corrects herself. You take stock of the situation. Tiger and your Ashwight wrestle with another starfish, while Monster peppers it from above with curses. Starfish are everywhere, in fact – the slow ones have finally made it up the cliff. Over to the side, a pile of Mermenes vainly attempts to keep a frenzied Xathix at bay. His mouth and face drip with blood, and his claws slash through the arms of a Mermene who’s managed to leap onto his back. Another one joins him, only to get exploded of when Xathix goes supernova. The sound booms over the wind and pelting rain, and the heat of the blast washes over you like a summer breeze.Meanwhile, Ranthix sweeps the ridgeline clear of Mermenes with his machinegun. When he reaches the end of his current belt, he shoulders the gun, tears a pair of thermite grenades from his bandolier, and charges a group of starfish trying to swarm over Wolfgang’s position. But a spluttering, choking sound turns your attention to what’s behind you.Though the top half of Yellow’s cloak has gone limp, it now starts billowing back up like an inflatable bounce house. Grotesque shapes struggle beneath the austere yellow fabric, like a bundle of fighting dogs. The shapes are much rougher and less contained than Yellow’s previous form, and bulge outward above where Rowan skewered him. The sight makes your skin crawl. With that, she jumps into the air and sails over to Xath. She cuts him free of his attackers and hauls him back toward Wolfgang.Wolf is not happy with the rapidly deteriorating situation, nor with your insisting on staying behind. “Agh. Sierra,” he calls out in a strained voice.“She’ll be fine if you hurry it up,” she says, grabbing Wolf’s shoulder. The other Wolf resigns himself to you being in peril, and grabs the Thultal in training by arm. “C’mon Xath, let’s get you out of here.”Rowan cups a hand to her mouth and shouts to Ranthix. “Keep an eye on her for me!”Ranthix rips a fist out of a starfish’s back and leaps off, just in time for the hole he put in it to erupt in flames. The animal cries out and collapses, frothing and flailing as it’s roasted from the inside out. “DON’T DIE SPAWNLING,” he shouts back to you, not even sparing a glance as he pulls out his revolver and charges at another starfish.Rowan rolls her eyes. “That’s not what I –“She disappears, along with Xathix, Wolfgang, and Evil Wolf. You refocus your efforts on all these damn Mermenes. You leap openly into a patch of them, bleeding them out in a ravaging attack. An encroaching starfish forces you back, but only for a moment. You bound over it, dodging its quivering strikes with its weight limbs to jump down into another bunch of hapless sea things. You lose yourself in the increasing thicket of Mermenes, crab people, starfish, and dog-sized amphibians. They die easily. (-4 Stress: 60) (+4 HP: 35) (+5 PP: 17) (+3 Fury: 83)You become aware of a new presence. To one flank, Yellow reforms, bulging crookedly to one side. Steam hisses from the cuts in his cloak. You cut free of the fray and skip back a few paces from the alien figure, wary of your flanks. Yellow’s response is to remain exactly where he stands. You can feel his power surging for another round of speech. In your mind, a stray thought crosses your awareness. “Sierra, here he is,” Monster warns.Turning to your right, you see Pallid step over the precipice, standing a good twelve feet tall. He drags one finger behind him, ripping open a fissure in the air. A torrent of brackish water and soaking Mermenes waterfalls out of it, flooding the plateau up to your ankles in water mixed with blood. You still your fear. Your veins burst with fire. Molten power surges in your chest, enough to ruin somebody’s day. Guys, do we even have enough peepee to summon zithether?
>>303323We can summon using landwell energy.
It’s time to unleash the Zithether. He doesn’t play nice with others, but right now that’s a plus. You focus into yourself and snag something dark and cold. “S-showtime buddy,” you say, relaxing the restraints you had on him.Scraps of white cloth flutter out of thin air, first one, then seven, then a hundred. They combine and link together into long shreds of torn fabric. The shreds bind and twist together, knotting into a pathetically frail figure huddled on the ground. The raggedy creature possesses no flesh or blood. Only shreds of gloom clad in trailing patches of off-white cloth. It’s faint presence seems to drain the very color from everything nearby it.Its head picks up and turns slowly, surveying the mob of dead, dying, and hostile Mermenes around it.One Mermene charges forward toward the creature, hefting a piece of driftwood as a weapon. The Zithether’s gaze turns unhurriedly to rest on its attacker, and the already cold air grows frigid. The charger slows, then stops. It drops the piece of drift wood, then sinks to its knees and sags over to the side. It makes no effort to correct its position - whether the Mermene is comatose or dead, you can’t tell. You feel a touch of something, of loss. A sense of grief. (+3 Stress: 63)“Good boy,” you mutter to yourself, averting your eyes from the Zithether’s efforts as it rises and drifts patiently toward Yellow. You don’t think it’s a fight you want to watch. You instead make your way to Pallid – he’s the more immediate concern.Ranthix, dripping with oceanic ichor, joins you. “I SHALL PREVENT DISTRACTION,” he announces, grabbing an angry Mermene’s head with his offhand. With a modicum of effort, he squeezes its skull in his massive grip. It pops inward with a wet crunchy sound. Gross. With Ranthix providing close quarters crowd control, you draw another hex midair and fire it off at Pallid. (-4 PP: 13) He makes no effort to dodge. It breaks harmlessly – or seemingly harmlessly – over his chest in an explosion of sparks. He could just be acting.“Yeah, you liked that, didn’t you,” you growl, shifting your spear to your tendrils and unslinging your dad’s FG-42. “Hold still.” You aim down the sights, and pour negative energy into the barrel of the gun. (-2 PP: 11)When the weapon is blackened by staticky corruption, however, something... new happens. The intricate Verwelken text covering the wood of the stock and grip throbs a dim red.The mysteries can wait. You squeeze the trigger, tearing off a quick burst at Pallid’s face. His neck snaps backward with the impact. When he manages to draw back up, a black hole mars his white mask, right on the cheek. Silvery syrupy stuff starts leaking out of the hole. Pallid raises a curious hand to the bullet hole, touches the fluid bleeding from his face, and brings it away to examine it. He rubs it skeptically between forefinger and thumb.Yes. Sensing weakness, you squeeze the trigger again.
>>303475Pallid jerks back with another burst to the chest. You drop your aim to one of his long legs and shoot out a knee. Silvery fluid bursts out of it, and he falls. (-2 Stress: 61) (+2 Fury: 85)Except something’s wrong with the perspective between you. Even though he’s standing on the plateau in front of you, when he falls, he falls behind the ridgeline and out of sight. Ranthix spits wrathfully at the disappearance of Pallid. “RELIANCE ON MAGIC RENDERED HIM WEAK,” he growls, gathering a handful of flame in one hand and shoving it at an approaching starfish. The beast screams and rears up in pain. Happy with your new understanding of your dad’s gun, you chance a glance over to where the Zithether confronts Yellow. The two seem to be locked in a staring contest – you can’t really tell who’s winning.Just then, Wolfgang and Wolfgang apparate back onto the scene in the small space of clear ground between you and the action. A crowd of Mermenes immediately pours in around them. One Wolf teleports up onto the roof of the cellblock – the other zaps behind Ranthix, putting the thultal between himself and danger. But the movement of Wolf’s teleportation attracts Yellow’s attention. He twitches away from the Zithether to face the rooftop Wolfgang, and flares with power. The Zithether reacts immediately, launching itself at Yellow and wrapping constrictively around his face. But it’s too late, the spell’s already free. Wolf spins his staff reflexively, bracing himself against the tidal force of arcane might. But it’s too much. He vanishes into thin air with a pop.“He’ll be fine, the charms did their job,” says the Wolfgang beside you. A flash of movement shifts behind you, and you whirl around. A massive fast-moving starfish hurdles toward you.“ASIDE,” shouts Ranthix, tossing both you and Wolf aside like ragdolls – Wolf seizes you by the shoulders and twists, absorbing the force of the fall.Above the both of you, Ranthix hurls his weight against the fast starfish mid step, colliding with such force that he deflects the creature’s charge to the side. Biting and snarling, Ranthix grapples with the tremendous creature as it beats on his back with its tremendous limbs.Further back, Yellow begins boiling beneath his cloak, though he doesn’t seem to make any move to remove the Zithether from the chokehold it has on his neck. The spirals of power behind him seem to increase in speed and intesnity.Wolf seizes your wrist, wincing at the roughness of the fall. “Let’s go,” he wheezes, struggling to sit up and keep a hold of his staff at the same time. The fall knocked the wind out of him. Maybe worse.>Hold on. The other one’ll come back, right?>No wait. You gotta get Ranthix. So the Zithether is basically a sadness demon?
Remember lads. We still have our Hallowed Aegis, which will buy us enough time for another Wolfgang to teleport in. We also have the Shield charm, so if we're evacing, we need to get that to Ranthix.
>>303590It feeds on fear.Like it says in the pastebin.

Hmmm. If Sierra still have blood magic, she should use >Convulsing Shock: Forces convulsions in target's blood vessels, briefly impairing movement and causing veins near the surface of the skin to burst. Must be inscribed. Target must have blood. Damage: 2d3. Type: Magic. Cost: 3 PP. Range: 10m. Inscription Length: Not too bad.or >Cardio-paralysis: Seize control of target's circulatory system, temporarily paralyzing all movement. Target may attempt to resist and move anyway, though such action will be difficult, painful, and harmful. Requires full attention if not touching target, little if touching target. Must be inscribed. Target must have blood. Cost: ~4 PP, 1HP, but varies with target restrained, and with resistance. Range: 10m. Inscription Length: Lengthy.Considering that Starfish are all blood vessels underneath their skin, that'll be quite something.

>>303625>>303479>Blood magic on starfishOhhh, intriguing! Let's give it a go.
>>303479Alright boss, here's the rough plan as I see it. Sierra will use whatever blood magic she has on the Starfish bullying Ranthix, then evac him. She'll make a play for his M60, then either using it to defend her position or popping Divine Aegis and her shield charm to hold out for pick up. It'll be close, but I think we can pull it off.
>>303645I'd back this
>>303479>No wait. You gotta get Ranthix. I can stay, I can take it.
>>303645Gonna paint it black? Suitable I suppose. The M60 is the gun of Vietnam, and that song is about that War. Supporting.
You can’t leave Rax. “Guys, cover him!” you shout, shoving a hand to the ground and trying to get off of Wolf.Tiger, Whisker, and Monster surge out of the fray – well, sort of. Whisker is buried under bodies. No amount of thrashing or stabbing can free him from the mass of flesh. Tiger is in a similar predicament, but Tiger can turn into shadow and seep out from the melee. Monster and Tiger rush to Ranthix’s aid.On the ground, you see Ranthix’s M60 – no, there’s no ammo with it, it’s all with Ranthix. You still have a few bullets left. No, a few bullets isn’t enough. You shove your assault rifle to Wolf’s chest. “Cover me. Throw magic at it, it should turn on,” you say, rising to leave. Just have to delay until the other Wolf comes back. But Wolf doesn’t let go of your wrist. “Ranthix is doing his job. So am I,” he says.A whirl of nothingness closes in around you, accompanied placeless cold and airless suffocation. No! “Ranthix! Don’t die!” you bark in a panic – in a last effort, you touch power to the inscription on your arm, rioting a convulsive shock at Ranthix’s starfish. (+6 Stress: 67) (-3 PP 8)The starfish freezes in place, and Ranthix seizes initiative, digging his claws deep into fish. You think you see his horns raise, as if glancing up from his task. The void shuts on the scene like a curtain.A single moment later, a wave of icy water splashes up over your legs, soaking you from the waist down. You blink. Blackness yields to a gravelly grey beach, stretching both ways. You’re still lying on top of Wolf, and he’s even more soaked than you are – water recedes behind him, leaving sand in his air. City buildings stand coldly up the slope ahead of you. Back from where you came, as far as you can see, there is nothing but white mist, hard rain, and storming seas.“Y-your wings,” says Wolf, his voice weak. He nods upward to the walkway at the top of the narrow strip of beach, where a couple stray pedestrians brave the storm with thick coats and dark umbrellas.Ranthix is back there, alone. You clamber off of him onto the shore, a sudden panic seizing in on you. (+5 Stress: 72) No – get a hold of yourself. Ranthix is fine. Will be fine. He can do anything. Now’s not the time to freak out or break down. You stare blankly out over the waters. “You have to get him,” you say, hastily putting your glamors back in place. “Just – just get him, alright?”“I’ll get him,” says Wolf, lying back and heaving for air. “As soon as... as I catch my breath here. No problem.”Wolf doesn’t sound so good. You turn to face him – he looks okay mostly, just fatigued. You’d be tired too if you just hauled like twenty people across the bay on the back of your magic. (Wolf: 9/10 HP, 11 PP)You can’t go with him, but you can still help. “Take this,” you say quickly, tugging off your shield bracelet and forcing it into Wolf’s hand. “And... and this.” You unbuckle your tactical vest so you can start putting your chainmail over your head. “The keyword’s ‘protege’. It’s Latin or something, I don’t know.” Wolf shakes his head and returns your shield bracelet, slipping it carefully back onto your wrist. “No, you might need it. They’ll only slow me down,” he replies. He staggers back to his feet, using his staff to brace himself. Rising so quickly makes him wince, and he cradles his ribs. His eyes search the distance. “Little bit off the mark this time. Net doesn’t... make it easy. And Ranthix is ah - a heavy guy.”You hurry to join Wolf in standing, shivering as another wave crashes over your shins. You’re a mess of blood, charred and otherwise, and you’re soaked, but cold water is cold water.Wolf looks gravely at you. “Head home and bunker down,” he says, his voice strained. “Wait for Isaac to get back. You know.”>Wait. Wait Wolf, no. If you went you’d... might not come back. >Y-you need a break. Let smoky Wolf handle it.>Yeah, great idea. Sierra and Ranthrix and the Hallows do this five days a week and twice on the weekends, but Wolf hasn't had to seriously apply his trade to this extent. Sending him back to the grinder in this state might not be wise for his well being. Worse case scenario is that RAnthix has to cover Wolfs still green ass and they both end up dead.

You punch him softly in the shoulder. “I’m not going anywhere till you get back ya dunce,” you tell him in an annoyed tone, putting a protective arm around his waist.Wolf chuckles softly to himself and sighs. “No. Seriously. I’ve been dropping you guys all over the city,” he says, leaning into you. “All the interference is playing havoc with my accuracy. Why do you think it took me so long to get back to you?”“Oh,” you say in a small voice.“Plus, you’re... soaked,” says Wolf. “You’ll get pneumonia if you sit around in this weather. Get inside and hit the showers dammit.”He’s right. Your face is dripping with blood, and you don’t even know whose it is. “Hey,” you say, giving a mock tone of warning. “I’m hot all the time. You can’t handle the blood, that’s on you.”Wolf turns to you, his eyes full of unexpressed meaning. “Maybe you’re onto something,” he says, touching his thumb to your chin.
