Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as circumstances warrant.Combat mechanics involve three rolls of 1d100, taking the best, and using the base accuracy and crit ranges of the the PTU system, roughly, but the 'turn order' will be more like the anime, where sometimes you can do a few moves in a row or be hit by a combo of moves yourself, all depending on circumstances. Stronger moves tend to take more time and have more cooldown than weaker moves and also may leave you open to an interrupt, so beware of that timing. Speed is more important for closing ground, intercepting, and other things and doesn't necessarily mean going first.Pokemon and trainers are unique, and may have certain specializations, skills, or other things that the video-game mechanics might not allow. Some examples: That kung fu Bellsprout in the anime, that crystal Onix, or a Roggenrolla that can fly. Herb's perception skills, pokemon knowledge, context clues in general, and other things will hopefully come into play to avoid completely unfair, unforeseeable bullshit, but expect more bullshit from more advanced trainers.Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture, mostly likely a butt.Pokemon:Gobble (Munchlax)Mace (Roggenrola)Belladonna (Roserade)Dice (Feraligatr)Sorbet (Vulpix)Rotom (Rotom)Location: Outskirts of Terichi, the city of nightlife!Recently: Herb catches a new Rotom, but there's pokeball trouble! Jane joins Herb and Laki to lead the search for Polu!
“Whatever Polu is doing, I’m sure he has a good reason.” You tell Jane and her skeptical expression.“Everyone always does.” She says. “But...I suppose it’s not the worst idea to assume the best motives. Besides becoming friends with you, he’s shown good judgement.”You can’t tell if she really means that, or if she’s agreeing with you out of a sense of pity. You know sometimes you can come off as naive, and maybe you are, but you feel it right in your gut, the part of it you trust the most, that Polu is a good guy who does good things. The pokemon center is a blur. It doesn’t go by fast, but you’re just too busy thinking to take any of it in except the lightness of your hand when you handed over Rotom’s pokeball. You hope it’s alright. You hope Polu is alright. You wonder what you should name it. Will it like you? Does Polu still like you? It’s been awhile since you talked. What if he’s just fine but doesn’t want to be friends anymore? What if he’s not fine?“Here you go.” The nurse calls out as she lays down the tray of pokeballs. She’s a little rough with it, letting it hit the tabletop hard enough to make a startling clacking noise. She looks overworked, tired. She didn’t even comment on Rotom. You rush to his ball to release him. Or her.The pokemon appears in a strange flash of light, right in the middle of the pokemon center. It appears alongside the little crystal it had. The crystal falls to the ground harmlessly, but with a loud clinking noise. The pokemon flies away from the crystal, buzzing up in the top, faraway corner.>Pick up and put away the crystal>Rotom, come down, it’s alright>Put it back in it’s pokeball before it flies out that open window.>Something else

“Hey. Hey. It’s alright.” You assure the Rotom.“You don’t know that.” Jane adds.“Not helping.” Laki grunts out of the corner of her mouth.“Rotom. I’m putting it away. Don’t worry.” You tell it. “Nobody here is going to hurt you.”The pokemon calms down a bit, but stays up where it is. It looks like it’s trying to communicate a question to you, but you don’t know it well enough to understand, and Keira and Gardevoir aren’t here to translate. But whatever it’s asking, it seems to figure out, or at least seems much less concerned about it. The pokemon slowly let’s itself float down to head level. It makes a few spins around you. You almost brace for Mace to intercept it, but you forget he’s in his pokeball. You let them all out almost all of the time.Rotom seems to be assessing you. Measuring you up in some way.You usually only get one chance at a first impression. The pokemon seemed too distracted before to really make anything of you, it seems.>Introduce yourself, make conversation. Be casual and non-threatening>It must have been having a tough time to be so worked up. >>2965738Work was swamped this week, so I got moved to an understaffed area for the time.Made my legs real stiff, but you’ve got to do what needs to happen to make the medicine happen.
“So, I’m Herb. This is Laki and Jane. It’s nice to properly meet you.” You try to say to the ver moving, orbiting ball.It slows, coming back close to your face.“We don’t know much about each other yet, but we will.” You say with a smile, genuinely looking forward to it.The pokemon buzzes positively for now. Not overly excited or anything, but just enough to communicate it’s in a good mood. It flies into your bag, then Lakis. Her backpack flashes a few times, and when she opens it, she’s blinded by her own small flashlight.“Ah! Little jerk!” Laki says more in shock than anger. Mostly.Jane smirks until the pokemon flies into her bag. Her expression goes from smug to absolute horror when her bag vibrates.Jane quickly opens her bag, but Rotom flies out.“My pokedex has a vibrate feature.” She defends herself to nobody in particular. Well, of course they do. What does she think you thought? “My files!” She says, fishing the dex out and fiddling with it. There’s some sort of encryption on it she seems to have forgotten the password to her in uncharacteristic fluster. She finally gets in and sighs in relief at finding everything satisfactory.Rotom comes to a bored stop. It buzzes more slowly, gauging your reaction after it’s tomfoolery.>Ask it nicely not to touch other people’s stuff>That should be met with a reaction of clear disapproval. Bad Rotom!>Laugh. “Please don’t touch other people’s things without permission.” You kindly ask the Rotom. It pauses in it’s sometimes spastic movements around your face, like it’s considering your response. Finding it acceptable, it buzzes down a little lower and calmer.“I think you’re going to get along with Bella.” You chuckle, reaching out to it. It buzzes back a few inches, lets you touch it after it gets to inspect your finger. It seems to accept you for now.“So what’s the plan?” Laki asks Jane, who covers her pokedex screen quickly. “When we search for Polu in the morning?”Jane folds her arms. “There are a few hangouts around here we can check out. We’ll go over them all and narrow it down.”“Not that complicated a plan.” Laki comments judgmentally.“It will be.” Jane folds her arms. “Smarter to check those places out in daylight first, then we can check again at night when we’re more likely to find trouble.”You all look up at the pokemon center sign. The price for staying the night used to be free, but that’s been crossed out and replaced with a modest fee that you can all easily afford.>Let’s go now. You’re a group of three experienced trainers, and time might be precious>Alright, time to try to get some sleep>Let’s camp just outside of town instead of staying here>Something else
>>2965993>>Alright, time to try to get some sleep

>>2965993>Ask why the price went up out of curiosity
“I guess we should get some rest, then.” You say, planning to sleep soon enough, but also wanting to do a few things like checking out that crystal first. You approach the desk and pay for Laki and Jane. It seems only fair since Jane is helping out. Jane accepts it without comment. “Why did the prices go up from free?” You ask as you get your change back. The nurse sighs. “Well, a few reasons. Part of it is all the newcomers to the area. Mostly young trainers. The other is all the priestesses and things from Eelilee. Seems like they’ve been getting more permissive with letting them leave unsupervised from time to time. Or maybe they just sneak out. I don’t know.” She says apathetically. “All I can tell you is kids these days don’t have any respect for things anymore.” Keeping up on her work seems to be more pressing, and she leaves you without giving you a chance to ask follow up questions. Laki and Jane stretch in a way that makes the two somewhat similar looking girls look very similar. Neither seems to notice, and you don’t say anything. “Be ready for an early morning.” Jane says. “And keep it down. I’m taking the middle bunk.”Jane throws her bags into the small cubby hole. There are stacks of them, three high.“Soft Hands and I will take the top.” Laki says, tossing your stuff up there and preparing to toss her own as well, before Jane stops her.“Don’t cause trouble that gets us noticed, let alone kicked out. We’re going to want to keep a low profile if we’re snooping around the local gangs.”Laki looks like she wants to oppose that, but can’t think of a good argument. She throws her stuff into the bottom bunk. You take a few minutes to wash up, brush your teeth, and do all the other little things it’s nice to do indoors instead of outside once in awhile, then crawl into your bunk. The sleeping rules discourage falling asleep with pokemon out, which you guess makes sense. Other trainers, travelers, and students all take up most of the other bunks, but the little clothes hanging over each cubby gives at least a bit of privacy as long as you’re quiet. You take out the crystal, examining it in the stillness of the night. But before you can really make much of it in the dark, you see a silhouette outside of your cubby hole. Laki’s face appears.“Hey Soft Hands.” She whispers. “Room for one more?”You honestly aren’t sure, judging by the amount of space you have.>Yeah. You could use a cuddle>Yup! “Yeah, a cuddle sounds nice nice.” You tell her. She crawls in, taking the position of small spoon, which is a little unusual for her. “So, what’s on your mind?” She asks as she kicks off some of her clothes while she gets comfortable in the blanket. Her generous behind pushing you back into the wall and her hand putting your arm over her.“Right now, this crystal that Rotom was in.” You say, holding out so both of you can sort of glimpse in the dark. She squints at it in the dark. “Can you do something with it? Use your power to examine it or something?” She takes it from your hand, adjusting so she can look up at it. You’re squished hard into the wall. “Looks like it’s got symbols from the Electric temple. Old Loanan. You consider it, looking at the funny looking, sharp crystal. She’s right. It’s got little etchings and what looks like a sort of circuit board design inside. There’s also the consideration of spending the time falling asleep studying Rotom>Maybe, but you should wait until you’ve studied it more. You aren’t sure about how to handle it exactly. You don’t want to do too much right now, but you figure a little probing can’t hurt. You spend a tiny bit of energy exploring the crystal. Just the least you can, to see if anything happens. It seems like the energy flows through it as if channeled for some purpose, but it doesn’t do anything. You feel more confident about being able to explore it later.Laki snuggles adjusts again. “Am I distracting? Should I move?”Well, you’d lie if you said she wasn’t a little distracting. But she’s also comforting. Her presence puts you at ease more than anything else. Especially since you don’t have your pokemon out. You got so used to sleeping with them in a pile.“Nah. Not at all. Actually, do you know anything about Rotom?”You and Laki chat for a bit quietly. At first, about Rotom, but then just about anything. The topic changes fluidly, and without direction, but it doesn’t feel chaotic at all. You even begin to forget she’s wearing sleeping clothes and pressed tightly against you. At least, until the pokemon center’s caretaker comes by.“Shhh.” She says, pressing you back with her hips. She hides you back there under the blanket. You hold your breath, waiting for them to pass. You cuddle with Laki, and fall asleep. The intimacy and wholesomeness of talking until you fall asleep is refreshing. Your mind is able to settle, and your body gets precious rest. The morning greets you both much too late and way too early. The reminder of what you’re here for puts you right into focus. You eat, but don’t enjoy a quick breakfast that comes with your stay, and you, Laki, Jane, and your pokemon are all ready to go.“Come on.” Jane encourages as you and Laki follow her out. “The first stop isn’t far from here.”“So what do we do, exactly?” You ask.“We look around for clues.” She says. “And ask questions, if we can get away with it.”Seems simple enough. You follow Jane and Laki into the first area. It’s just an intersection for foot traffic, centered by a small fenced in battle area and poorly maintained, tiny park. It’s a bit depressing. There’s a homeless person off in one section, just sitting there with a cup out and a depressed looking Growlithe. The grounds themselves has some trash sitting around. A cracked window from an under or unused building barely shows your reflection through the dirt.Jane is examining graffiti, and Laki walks around the area as if Polu might appear in a corner somewhere if she looks hard enough.>Pick up some of the trash. You start picking up garbage and taking it to the dented bin. You can always help out somehow if you look hard enough. That’s what mom taught you anyway.Huh, now that you think about it, she might have just been trying to get you to do more chores. You visit your memories as you clean, and recall that your mom’s comment was actually aimed at your sister, who's always done a lot less around the house than you.“Woah! Community service guy over here.” The homeless person laughs at his observation until he coughs.“Heh. Just cleaning up.” You say.“Well look at that.“ He comments with a bit of a droll. “Good for you, kiddo.” He scratches his Growlithe’s head and holds out his cup. “Want to do a little more good today?”“Sure.” You smile, dropping in a little money. “Hey, I’m actually looking for a friend of mine. Have you seen him?” You describe Polu, but by how he looks, but mostly about how he acts.“Well, I think I remember seeing a kid like that.” He says. “Let me think.”You put in an extra little bit of cash.He laughs. “No no. I really need a second.” He doesn’t offer the money back. “Let me see....right! Last night. He was with a group of kids.”“What were they doing? Did they say where they were going?”“Some club.” He says. “Don’t know which on, but it sounded like a place they liked to hang out. But it sounded weird, like they were getting stuff for decorating it. Seems a bit young to be running a club if you ask me. They come through here once in awhile.”>LAKI! JANE! COME HERE QUICK! “Thanks.” You say, settling in next to him. His Growlithe hacks something up and then eats some of it back up again. “Umm, is he alright?”“He’s getting old.” He confesses. “Beats the alternative.”You laugh. That’s true. “I’m Herb.”“Omoo.” He says, offering his hands. “This is Corona.”The Growlithe gives an eager but weak bark in response to hear it’s name. You scratch it behind the ears, then close your eyes and concentrate. Your channel your energies into healing it. When you open your eyes again, Corona looks a lot more energetic. It barks and licks you. “Well, someone’s feeling good today.” He says. “Hey kid, she really likes you. A friend of Corona is a friend of mine.”“Thanks.” You guess he didn’t notice what you did. You doubt he’d be unfazed by it. The poor pokemon’s coat is a little rough looking still, but it’s moving a lot more freely. Like the aches and pains of it’s bones have been lifted. You sit and talk for a bit, getting to know Omoo. It sounds like he’s got some family he hasn’t seen for a long time. A son he never visits who he assumes just wouldn’t want to see his dad this way. He doesn’t want to give up the lifestyle though, whatever that means.“Woah! I haven’t see you so full of energy...ever.” He says to his bouncing Growlithe. “Kid, you got food in your pockets or something?”Jane spots you, and comes storming over. She looks upset. She told you to keep a low profile, but this counts, right?>Give him your pokedex number, and ask him to contact you if he sees Polu again>Welp, nice meeting you. You spend time talking with him, encouraging him to reconnect with his son. Whatever lifestyle he might enjoy, nothing could be worth missing a chance to grow closer to his own son.Jane, hearing your conversation when you get closer, decides not to get involved. Instead, she waits patiently. You end up talking for quite awhile. It’s actually pretty hard to fully follow Omoo’s story and what’s going on with him and his son, but you feel like you’ve had a productive conversation. He seems resolved to some sort of action in talking to his child, even if he’s a bit vague.“Hey, can I ask you a favor?” “Sure Herb.”“Can you call me if you see my friend? I’m really worried about him.” You offer him your number.“You got it!” He announces. “Thanks for listening. You’re a good guy, Herb.” Jane resists the urge to roll her eyes, and he notices. “But you better get back to your girlfriend here. She looks like she’s getting bored. Trust me, hold onto her while you can.”Jane’s eyes flare open, but she still holds her tongue somehow. At least, until you leave him.“What did you tell him about us, exactly?” She shakes her head, dismissing her own question for one she feels is more important. “What did you tell him about what you’re doing?”You explain the truth, and she looks upset.“What part of low profile do you not get? We’re snooping into the business of dangerous people.”“Hey, your hobo friend have anything to say?” Laki asks. You relay what you learned to both girls. Jane doesn’t see the point in lecturing you more on keeping a low profile, and Laki is eager to check out the clubs in the area.“Well, regardless, we should stick to the plan.” Jane says. “We should be methodical. Who knows what club that could be in Terichi. You follow Jane to the next location. Then the next, and the one after that. She seems to be piecing something together, but you have no idea what, exactly. She’s been working out what gangs work where, and what sort of things they get up to.Laki begins to stick closer to you as you get further into dangerous looking places. Her watchful presence is comforting in the absence of having your pokemon out. You can’t help but feel a bit like you stick out. The looks you get aren’t always super friendly. But it’s not like that’s universal. Plenty of people seem friendly enough, or at least apathetic. There is a decent amount of fashion talk and neat store windows. It looks like a lot of older buildings here have been repurposed to a more commercial usage. You, Jane, and Laki take a break in an alleyway to go over what she’s found so far. A lot of it is just gang lore that doesn't’ mean much to you besides what might be relevant to finding Polu. “I think Polu’s most likely to be in the hangout near the night market.” Jane says. “But that’s bad news. There’s been a lot of muggings in the area. And they target mainlanders. Mostly.”“Well, what are we going to do?” Laki hovers over you protectively. “We can’t bring Herb there. And we don’t even know for sure if Polu is involved with those guys.”“We know who he’s not involved with.” Jane says. “It’s a process of elimination. And we need to eliminate this possibility or we could be be caught off guard later.”The sun begins to hide behind the spread of second and third story buildings that seem to form the maze of this city.>What are we waiting for? Let’s go! Hurry!>You two go check it out without you, you’ll wait back here where it’s safe>You have a feeling you’re close. “I think you guys should go ahead. I’ll stick back and see if Gobble’s nose can pick anything up.”The two strong, tough girls look to each other. Neither likes the idea of leaving you alone.“We can check it out really quickly.” Laki suggests to Jane. “We’d spot him right away if he’s there, and we all have our pokedex’s and strong signals, right?”Jane nods. “That’s fine by me.”Laki leans in close to you. “Don’t do anything on your own, alright? If you get his scent, note the direction and wait for us. Or at least call us. We’ll be close, and we won’t take long.”You nod your understanding. Laki gives you a quick kiss, then her and Jane go to check out the market quickly as you release Gobble.“So, you think your nose is up for it, Gobble?” You ask.He gives a confidence thumbs up. His enthusiasm is infectious. It makes you believe you’re going to find your friend and that everything is going to be alright.Gobble sniffs through the air, searching for the scent on the wind. You watch closely as he changes his facing several times. Finally, he settles in one direction and points. He’s got a whiff of something! Just barely though. He looks like he could lose it at any second. He’s got Polu’s scent! The thought echoes in your head! You’re going to find him!>Stay here, but note the direction. Polu probably won’t move too far in the time it takes the girls to get back, right?>Call the girls, let them know and wait for them to come back>Go after it, quickly! It’s hard to restrain yourself, but you decide to call the girls and let them know that Gobble is confident he’s onto Polu’s scent.“We’re on the way!” Laki shouts over what sounds like a crowd. “Stay put.”You wait. And wait. Not a lot of time is passing, but you really want to chase after that scent.Gobble looks like he’s losing it, though. He keeps holding his nose higher to the air, trying to keep track of it. But the night is filling with the smells of food carts, the occasional cheap firework, and just the smells of the street in general.Laki and Jane arrive a few minutes later, in time to see Gobble with his slumped shoulders. He’s lost Polu.“He was in this direction. Good job, Gobble.” You quickly rush. Jane and Laki stick close, and the four of you rush through the alleys towards Polu.At least, you really hope so. You feel deep inside that he’s nearby, but that’s just your guts, not your brain, that’s talking.[That’s it for tonight. Polu is painfully close! We’ll be running Tuesday, Wednesday, or both.]

Been doin' some thinkin' 'bout Gobble. The way I see it, evolution is going to cause the little guy some changes that he might not care for, or at least make his current lifestyle more difficult.1: Sleep. If Munchlax sleeps during breaks from eating, Snorlax eats during breaks from sleeping.Proposed Solution: Worry Seed Coffee. It's narratively satisfying for Herb to work on this idea now that it's important to someone important to him, and by god do I love the image of a half-asleep Snorlax roasting and grinding beans in the morning.2: Hunger. Snorlax eats 900 pounds of "food" per day. A normal Snorlax would just eat, like, thorn bushes and ivy and other underbrush, but Gobbo has a more refined pallet. Plus, I'm sure Herb wouldn't want him eating bushes Pokemon live in or branches that bear fruit, harming the local pokemon.Proposed solution: Give Gobble a massive Wok. He can cook up those vines that wild Snorlax are supposed to clear out, and throw whatever else in there like normal amounts of fruit and fish and such, and spices. Plus, he can fight and cook with it in a way that reflects Herb and the "Peter" Pan. Plus, again, I love the image.3: Size. It'll be really hard for him to use indoor kitchens, or any indoor areas other than gyms, once he's 7 ft tall and, more importantly, like 6.5 feet wide. And since he's used to being always by our side, that'll be tough.Proposed solution: This was a tough one. Despite being both a normal type pokemon and a gen 1 pokemon, I wasn't able to find the right move in his movepool to fix this, since Minimize is actually a really exclusive move. HOWEVER, there are a couple of ways to get around it. For one, Gobble already knows Metronome, and there's an outside chance we can use that to pull whatever move we want with, say, some combination of specialty training and aura shenanigans. Alternatively, Snorlax does get Snatch as a tutor move, which would allow it to steal Minimize from another pokemon, such as perhaps the local Pokecenter's Chancey, or maybe a Quilfish or Staryu if Hana gets one. Weirdly, Snatch could also be used to steal Coil? Or Withdraw? And shrink down that way?Anyways, let me know what you guys think.(P.S., I would very much like to see Gobble learn Flamethrower or Fire Punch so he can provide his own heat for cooking. We started training him on Flamethrower a long while back but it never went anywhere. Rotom Bake could be cool too though, if we can get our hands on an electric oven somewhere.)
We talked a bit about holidays...What’s Herb giving up for Lent?
>>2967631>Christian>Herb not being some measure of BuddhistDude seems pretty Bodhisattva to me
>>29674591. He probably won't need coffee, he's an active guy so he might be able to willpower through it. He may need some help so it's not a terrible idea anon. 2. I'd say let him forage around for food on the islands. Snorlax aren't an invasive species so the local flora and fauna are used to their presence. It'd probably way less harmful then you're anticipating. 3. We'll just have to cook outside more
>>2968339About point 2:My worry is that Gobble won’t want to eat like other Snorlax. There may be plenty of vines and such, but it’ll be harder to get 900 pounds of cooked food per day. The big wok is to let him cook large amounts of forage, so that he will cook and eat those vines and such, instead of Herb having to make 300 pound bowls of pasta or whatever. And to point 3, I’d still like to have Gobbo indoors even when not cooking. I don’t like the idea of everyone out of their balls and walking down a hallway in some temple we’re checking out except Gobbs. Though I do agree, he may just generally be more awake than most Snorlax, which would be a pleasant surprise.
>>2969978I mean Ash's was awake when they needed him to be, I just anticipate gobbs sleeping more in non critical moments.
>>2969978I'd put less thought into the 900lb thing, if everything the pokedex said was true then that magma encounter we had with the Slugma would be island threatening, not just immediate surrounding threatening.

You and the girls push through the crowd, keeping an eye out for Polu and continuing on in the direction Gobble pointed.“Anything more, Gobble?”Gobble sniffs and concentrates. His nose twitches and he points again. He’s onto something.“Hurry.” Jane says. “It’s going to rain soon. We’ll lose the scent.”It’s already a bit wet out. You push on hard, hitting the pavement. You, Laki, and Gobble get deeper into what looks like repurposed warehouses. There’s a night club scene around here that fades from glamorous and classy to a bit scary and dark.“Hold on.” Jane puts a hand across yours and Laki’s chests to stop you. Gobble pauses on command. He’s looking a little skittish now too. He must smell more than Polu.“What’s up?” Laki asks.Jane motions for everyone to funnel into a side alley, making it clear she doesn’t want your group to be noticed. You stay quiet as you watch a group of what looks like tough kids walk by, laughing and roughhousing. Maybe about ten to fifteen of them.Wait! That one in the middle! That’s Polu! You and Gobble look to each other and both have the same expression.>Call out to him! Get his attention>Wait and be quiet>Run out towards him and introduce yourself. Leave the girls for a second>Something else

>>2975786>Wait and be quietWell, at least he’s in one piece. Now to see if he’s gotten himself into any trouble.
>>2975786>Wait and be quietTotally forgot this was running today.
You keep quiet, watching in silence as the group passes by. It’s like watching a different reality through a large, alley-shaped window. An alternate universe where Polu is without his cool leather jacket, or his bandana.“Polu’s actually in a gang.” Laki whispers in slight disbelief as the three of you rush to the corner to watch before they slip away somewhere.“Where are they going?” You ask.“To cause trouble.” Jane says. “Sneakers, accessories to cover their faces, pokeballs on tight belts to prevent them from falling out if they’re in a scuffle, and that giddy little kick in their step where they’re psyching themselves up.”Wow. Jane really is observant. But, you need to voice something she missed. “Polu wouldn’t do anything too bad.”“We’ll see.” She answers back before darting to the next alleyway. You look to Laki to get her thoughts. She’s surprisingly reserved and stonefaced. You, Laki, and Gobble follow. Jane is already climbing up a dumpster to get access to a ladder. She must plan on watching from the roof.Laki follows easily. You too manage to get up without too much trouble, mostly. Gobble though, looks up at the dumpster and the intimidating climb.“Put Gobble away.” Jane says. “He’s too slow and short. We need to be careful or we’ll be seen.”>She’s right. >>2975912>>She’s right. Sorry Gobble, back to the ball for now>He's not slow, but he is not the best climber though.
“He’s not slow.” You say in his defense. “But it is true you have trouble climbing, buddy.”Gobble looks up and gives a gesture saying that you’re right. He doesn’t like it, but he recognizes the reality of the situation. He opens his arms wide to make himself easier to retrieve with his pokeball.“Sorry, Gobble. Thanks for understanding.” You recall him into his ball.Lak offers you a hand up, but you manage without it. You’re in better shape than when you started your journey. Still, the gesture is appreciated. The group is about maybe a dozen kids, now that you have a better view of them. The leader looks a bit older and bigger than everybody, except for that one huge guy who looks like he ate a Snorlax. They all have similar clothes, for the most part. Looks like some very sloppy attempt at a matching color scheme and uniform. There are three girls there, and one looks a lot like Polu.Polu’s group, or rather, the group Polu is in, all start to reign in their excitement as they turn the corner.“What are they doing?” You whisper and watch. But the question gets answered very quickly. They all run by a small store on the corner, each throwing a brick or rock through the window. It’s quick and sequential, clearly planned and not just something they did out of nowhere. As Polu runs by, his brick cruises through an already broken window and thuds on the ground.“Nice aim!” One of them laughs as they all take off as the owner of the store grabs a phone.Through the sounds of chaos and rush of mischief, one of the members falls and trips right by the store entrance. Polu is the only one that notices and looks back, trying to decide what to do.“Little punks.” Jane puts a hand on the rooftop edge and checks over the side. “Polu, hurry up!” One of them yells as he takes off with the larger group around the corner.Polu decides then to run back and help the smaller gang member up. As he does, Jane goes up and over the building, and lands in a roll. Polu, despite the chaos around him, notices and looks in your direction. You get up and wave from the rooftop as Laki ducks. Your eyes meet.Time seems to stand still for a second. Polu, what’s going on? What are you doing? Why are you here?He seems to have the same question in his eyes. But you don’t have time to try to communicate from afar. Jane rushes at him, and he moves to pick up his friend.Friend?Colleague?Comrade?Co-criminal?Oh man. What is happening?“Soft Hands, what are you doing?” Laki asks.“I’m going to Help Jane.” You say. As much as it hurts, you’ve made up your mind. You look over the edge. There’s a pile of empty boxes and trash that looks pretty soft. You could probably make that easily, as long as you don’t flub anything. But there are other options too. You could send pokemon to restrain that one that fell behind. Or you could try to cut off some of the ones that ran ahead, but you’ll have to get passed or around Polu to do that.>Hop over the edge, go catch up to Jane>Send a pokemon to help. “Help Jane?” Laki says in frustration. “You know you guys are acting impulsively if I’m the one that thinks we’re jumping into things. Just be careful, alright? I’ll go around and make sure nobody comes back without warning.” Laki takes off into a spring and leaps across to the building next door, then down over a ledge. She makes it look so easy.Your turn. You look over the ledge, do a few pacing movements, and over you go.The lack of solid ground under you for a moment is disorienting, but only for a second. You hit the pile on the perfect spot and almost spring up to your feet in one smooth motion. Alright! All that exercise and training is paying off!Polu helps his compatriot up, and the two of them begin moving away when Jane catches up. You aren’t sure what they’re saying, but Polu’s friend tosses out a pokeball. No way! That kid is going to attack Jane. At least, that’s what it sure looks like. You decide to intervene first. “Mace! Go! Use Gravity on those guys, but avoid Jane!”You throw Mace’s pokeball, and watch as he uses gravity while you book it closer. But something’s wrong. You, Jane, Polu, and the other person end up with hair and clothes floating upwards. Each step feels like you’re on the moon, and little bits of pebbles and things begin to float up.Polu gives you a quick sympathetic look, like he owes you big time. He thinks that was on purpose!“Come on, bro” He says to his friend. “We’ve got a chance to escape.”“We can’t run if some new gang is starting something.” The kid looks to you and Jane.“That’s not...dude, there’s no time. We’ll get out of here and never see them again. Don't worry about it."Polu seems to convince his friend, and they both clumsily leap up and over a building. The Gravity’s range ends just shy of their escape route, so they just barely make it.Jane gives you a dirty look, but has no time to spare as she starts into a run to chase them. “Stay out of the way, John.”The shopkeeper comes out with a Raichu, and he looks very upset with you. “Hey! Hold on!” You say as Raichu charges it’s electricity. “I’m not part of any gang or anything. I’m not-”Woah! The man swings the broom at you. Raichu can’t get a clear shot with him in the way for a moment. And that’s when you decide to act. You reach out towards it, trying to project the most calming aura you can. Maybe if Raichu sees your intent, it can get that through to it’s master. You search deep in yourself and in Raichu, but it’s like flying blind. You can’t sense anything about it’s feelings at this distance. Yet somehow, either by body language or aura, you get through to it.Wap! Wap! The broom gets two good smacks in your face as you’re distracted.“Now Raichu! Get’em!”But Raichi hesitates. It runs up next to it’s owner and gives it a funny look.“Come on Raichu. What’s the matter with ya?”The Raichu still hesitates, then makes some gestures you don’t quite understand, but get the jist of.The shopkeeper squints at you. “Kid, are you a mainlander?”“Umm, yeah.” You aren’t sure what that has to do with anything.“Aww heck. You’re not with that gang at all, are ya?”“No sir.” You keep a hand raised just in case the broom is coming again. It didn’t hurt much, but Raichu sure would have. It’s very annoying to get a smack from it, too. “Sorry, I was trying to help.”“Help? Ah, kid. You don’t want to get involved in stuff like this. Don't play hero. Those are some bad Eggxecutes. They think they can extort me for 'protection' money just because I’m half mainlander and sell imports. It’s a global world. Hey, can I just say, ever since we got Gravity I’ve been envisioning a custom reverse-gravity move?It would make flying way easier for Mace, amped up it could lift enemies into the air where they’d be helpless, and it could even save Herb if he were ever to, say, fall off of a cliff. If it decreases accuracy the same way the move would normally increase accuracy, it could make Bella’s Magical Leaf the only move that’s reliably hitting. You >>2976203 really made a big opportunity for us here.(Gravity is one of my favorite moves)
“Where are the police?” You ask, eyeing the way Jane ran.“Last time I called, they were fifteen minutes. That was two weeks ago.” He spits. “Guess they forgot. Sometimes they come though, if you bug ‘em enough. Just not enough boys and girls in blue yet to handle all the growth. They’ll come though, and with them, stability. This whole block is going to be worth something someday. Just you wait.”That’s a bold prediction, looking at the rundown buildings and sidewalks. It’s weird, because the construction is very modern looking. But you suppose that’s just because the area you grew up in was built a long time ago and just improved over time, instead of built new with modern standards.“How long has this been going on?”“About a month.” he says. “I mean, being targeted. Crime around here has been on the rise since the priests started approving all the newcomers and businesses coming in. I’ll admit that much is true. But while everyone complains about that, nobody looks at the big picture. It’s coming down, y’know. Crime. Slowly but surely after the big spike. This is an adjustment period, that’s all.” he scratches his chin. “Though I guess the numbers could be off too. Not like I’m going to bother with a new police report for this.”“A month?”“Yeah, though they’ve been getting more aggressive lately. More members, it looks like. Taking advantage of mainlander hate. But you and I, we’ll make it. They can’t kick us out, you remember that, kid. I bought this store fair and square. And next month, that building over there. It’ll pay off in the end. You’ll see.”You glance at the other building. You hope he’s not paying that much for it. It looks like a permanent fixer upper.“Do you need help cleaning up?”He laughs. “Ahh, you’re a good kid, aren’t you? Nah. Thanks though. I’m pretty good at this.” He flips the broom around so the bristled end is facing down.“Hey, umm, about that gang...”“Yeah?”“Are they all bad people?”He hesitates. “Not all, but mostly, yeah. That one that came back for his friend might be another punk just like the others, but at least he didn’t leave him. I wish they got caught, but I can respect that loyalty, misplaced as it is.”“Do you think that guy has a good reason to be in the gang?”He picks something out of his ear. “Good reason to be in that gang? I can’t think of one. I get that a lot of kids get scooped up and wouldn’t end up this way on their own, and I sympathize, but I ain’t exactly overflowing with as much understanding as the bleeding hearts who live outside their territory.”>Insist on helping clean up anyway>Go after Jane>Call Laki>Call Hana and the others to fill them in>Something else

“Thanks for your time.” You make the customary bow without thinking about it, then leave. You’d better call Laki. You take out the pokedex and give her a ring.“Soft Hands!” Laki whispers quietly. “Everything alright?”“I was going to ask you the same thing. I’m just leaving the shop. I’m fine.”“I’m fine too.” Laki says. “I found their little warehouse hangout. And-woah!”Your heart suddenly kicks into overdrive. “What is it?”“Jane’s chasing somebody down. Wait, it’s Polu! What’s he doing?”“Jane? Is Mace there?”“I don’t see him.” Laki answers. “Hold on. Polu is trying to get her to go away, but she’s not having any of it. Now...uh oh. More gang members are showing up.”“How many?” You ask as you start running in that general direction. “Two...three...five. Soft Hands, I’ve got to go. She needs help. And- Oh hey, Mace is there after all. He just took one out.”What? Why does it always have to escalate to violence? You know Mace wouldn’t start it, but you still worry. Even if everyone gets out safe, it’s not a good thing.“Laki?” You ask your pokedex as you keep running. “Are you still there? What’s going on?”The pokedex responds with the sound of her issuing commands, and battle. But you can also hear the battle up ahead. There’s Jane crumpled on the ground in pain. Four of those gang members look like they got a thrashing, but three more slowly approach her.Mace zooms through an alley off to the other side, chased by three Zubat. Amazingly, they seem to be having a lot of trouble keeping up.Laki is about to throw a pokeball, but somebody grabs her arm from behind. She quickly grapples with them, but nobody has the immediate advantage.Polu is tending to a girl who looks like she got punched in the face by Laki, judging by the positioning.>Call out to everyone to stop fighting.
