Strategy post!

This is just an early turn 'where you guys should be moving in general' type thing. We want folks face checking the fog as quickly and rapidly as we can. We need to explore the map, and we need to get civilians moving to an evacuation point, which is TENTATIVELY where I placed the convoys.

Gunners? Other long range and slow ass types? Get your buts up into the central area. It has cover, the higher tiles will give you a bonus to range for rifled weapons (if I remember, every point of relative height you have on the target reduces the rifling penalty by one stage), it's perfect for you, so get set up.

Demos, wasps, sappers, engineers, the moment folks are off the beach, start making the northern part of it into a goddamn death trap. We'll know better where to establish the defensive line as engineers and such when we have more of the map unveiled.

Convoys? Get onto that southern road and ready to move folks fast from the south around to other places, either in retrieving folks who were exploring to get them back to the beach, or to get engineers and such over to the eastern half of the town.

Vanguards? We're on the northern approach. We're going to be the first guys hit, and we need to make life -hell- for whoever steps onto the northern map.

Here's a general gist of the situation. Purple lines are what I believe we can more readily defend, with double purple lines being a priority. Green arrows are possible enemy approaches.

There are two approaches that could be cut off fairly easily. The staircase with a red X should be destroyed (>>2941513 Good work Salamander). The choke point with the red X should be clogged with the wreckage of those mechs if possible, and any other blockage we can manage. I would've preferred scuttling a transport there but it appears to be too late.

Folks, this isn't as bad as it looks, I swear. We put enough wreckage on the north front that the enemy should be somewhat delayed, we just need someone (ahem: >>2943318) to take command of the local forces and keep that place secure.

On the beaches: If you're prone and behind an engineer barricade you're essentially immune to voss assault troop fire. Focus fire on raiders and tanks as possible, and slow down any assault troops as needed. Flash bombs, Mow Down, and Suppression are your friend here folks! Keep one squaddie using suppression fire on a target while the others try to pick them off, or else coordinate so you can suppress multiple targets while your allies do the damage!

As for setting up a fallback point, we either need fire support up north to connect with our elements in the town, or we need to secure the construction yard. Whatever forces are available let's do this!

Hopters are strange Aero-Terrestrial units capable of infantry support and anti armor strafing. They can hold their own against air units too but are generally easy targets to anything with a gun. Take care of these. Or I will be quite cross with you.

The rest of the burial was done in complete silence. The hole was filled back up, and the vanguards returned to Stallion. Never once mentioned the unmarked graves lost in the middle of the woods.
