You look at Serena, and begin."First of all, what even is the thing we have in the trunk?"Serena looks up. "It's called a grotesque. Magical science isn't really my strong suit, but I'll try to explain as best I can. First of all, the human and magic worlds are innately separate. One can't come into contact with the other by chance; somebody has to actively decide to bridge the gap. And even then, the two naturally start to reject each other. So when a human has extended contact with magic, one of two things can happen. They either become magic, like you, or they start to mutate horribly. Some beings make people into grotesques intentionally, because they're expendable much less likely to try and revolt.""Damn. So does this whole human-magic thing have anything to do with why silver hurts so much?"(cont.)
>>287595"I think. I remember hearing that silver is kinda like condensed human world energy or something like that, so our bodies reject it. That's about the extent of my knowledge, so I hope you don't have any more questions about the nature of the universe or whatever.""Not really, I mean, no offense, but what are you even? How did you do that whole spit thing?" "I'm a minor loa of an aquifer beneath the manor. I came under the ownership of the Ainsworth family when they brought the property. Our resident witch, Jesula, that old lady you saw at dinner, bound me to the material realm. For some reason, my bodily fluids have healing properties. My spit can fix minor stuff like getting shot in the foot, and I can do even bigger things with my blood." She takes another drink from her nalgene. "The only downside is, I have to drink from my home water source regularly."What do you say?>"That sucks.">"That sounds like Hasan's situation.">Write in

>>287833>>287826"That sounds like Hasan's situation." You say, deciding to test her reaction.Serena jolts up "Don't compare me to him. I work for the Madame Beatrice because I like her and I have nothing else to do. If the mistress didn't keep Hasan on a tight leash, a lot of people would die." She says with a surprising hint of anger in her voice."Sorry, I didn't mean to insult you. I'm still trying to figure out the whole dynamic in the manor." You respond quickly. She sighs deeply. "It's fine. You're new here, but in the future, stay away from him. He's not the kind of person you should associate with.""I'll...keep that in mind." You say, nodding. Serena takes drink from her bottle. The rest of the car ride consists of idle remarks and akward silence. The gravity of what's going on, what might happen, creates a pit in your stomach. Eventually, you reach the ominous entrance to the Manor. Gerald and the giant man are waiting for you in the gravel driveway. As you exit, he begins talk."Ah, Mr. Morrison. I don't believe you'd had the privilege of meeting our groundskeeper, David. David, this is our new member Stanley Morrison."David grunts in greeting. You wave meekly."You'll have to exuse David, Mr. Morrison. He is.... vocally challenged. Anyway, seeing as you have some history with your guest, would you like to accompany me during his interrogation?" Gerald says as David opens opens Fido's trunk to retrieve the writhing sack containing Avery. What do you do?>"How violent will it be?">"Yes">"No"

>>288180>>288137"Uh, sure. But how, uh, violent is this gonna be?" You answerGerald walks forward with David, the bag slung over his shoulder, as you follow. "Oh, that depends entirely on our guest."You follow the pair into the mansion and down numerous halls and doorways, as it slowly becomes colder and darker, until it opens to a white tiled room. Gerald flips on the lights, and the impeccable rooms and walls reflect the clear light. David pulls the bag the off of the writhing monstrosity that is Avery, and sets him down in a chair in the middle of the room, and begins to chain him to the chair. Avery foams out of all of his mouths. "You son's a bitches! I'll -" Gerald nods at David, who proceeds to hit him in the head with enough force to knock him into the wall. David slowly trudges over and sets him up again. Avery's neck snaps back into place. Gerald pulls out a pair of gloves, puts them on, and takes some silver implements from his coat. He pokes it into the cheek of Avery, who reacts about as well as one would expect. "Would you like to ask any questions Mr. Morrison?"What do you say>"Who are you working for?">"Why did you attack me">"Fuck you." hit him>Write in

>>288578>>288553"Since you didn't tell me back in the hallway, who exactly are you working for, and why did they ask you to attack us?" You say, staring into his eyes. At least, the ones on his head. He takes a bit more convincing before he starts to speak words again."Fine..... Imma dead man either way.... my master's name is Salvador...... Salvador Rose. I just..... take orders..... I don't ask ...... why." He manages to strain out. Meanwhile, his stomach mouth gnaws fruitlessly at the chains."Alright. Was that too hard? Now, is there anyone else around waiting to shoot me in the back?"Avery laughs and spits out a malformed tooth "Listen..... demonie, I've already told you...... enough to get me a ticket to hell. So if you plan on killing me, I suggest you git on with it." And with that, he starts to laugh like somthing out of a horror movie. Which seems to be a common occurrence as of late. Avery's whol body starts to convulse as he falls over on his side, spraying saliva on your boots.Gerald turns to you. "I don't believe we'll be getting much more out of him. He was surprisingly quick to answer, I had my whole evening set aside for this. Ah, well, I guess I could release some stress while I'm down here. Care to join me?" Geralds eyes start to light up, figuratively and literally. Although you are kind of disgusted with it, the thought of torturing Avery makes you strangely excited. What do you do?>Stay with Gerald>Explore the castle (where)>Try and find somone (who)>Write inNext post will be my last before I go to sleep. >>288907Yeah, cleaning up seems good.
>>288907>>288925>>289027"Actually, I think I'm gonna get clean. Where are the baths anyway?""Hmm? Oh, yes. Well, since the mistress will use her private bath, I suppose it would be acceptable for you to use the guest bath. You've earned it. Their should be some fresh clothing in your room, just throw the old pair down the chute." Gerald says as he turns back towards Avery. You decide it would be best to leave him and David to their business.I'll write up the rest tommorrow
>>289179>>289179As the door shuts behind you, the sound of liquid splattering followed by shrill screaming reaches your ears. It sends chills down your spine in a way you can't decide is pleasurable or discomforting. The fact that you barely reacted to the grisly events of the tourture is unsettling, to say the least. Hopefully, a bath will help you relax and clear your head. You make the long treck back up to your room, grabbing your new clothes, and wandering around the first floor of the west wing until you found the guest bath. The room was immaculate, as if it somebody had prepared it for an actual guest. You wonder if Beatrice would be angry if she found out about this. Then again, not pissing her off isn't explicitly a part of your agreement. The bath ifself more of a small heated swimming pools than a tip, and after turning a few knobs, the whole room starts to warm and become misty. You lower yourself into the pool and let out a sigh. It's remarkably relaxing. You feel the warmth spreading though your body and into your wings. It doesn't take long for you to fall asleep.(cont.)
>>292482You wake up in a cave or dungeon or whatever. All you know is that is smells like shit and the floor is cold and stony Waking up in strange places is starting to become tiresome. Oddly enough, this place feels familiar. Across from you, a few feet forward, you see what looks like a cell. Past that, you can't really see, due to a blob of darkness that takes up the space. It reminds you of what it's like when you close your eyes and can just see the blood vessels. Suddenly, you become aware that you aren't alone. Somone is here with you, standing right where you are. It's fells like your body is reall two. forced together in the exact same space. It's not a good feeling. "Well it's about time." The other body says to you, in your voice."Wha- what the hell is going on?""Shhhh. Calm your tits. I know it sounds stupid, but I'm you. I think this place is supposed to be a metaphor you mind invented to describe my -or should I say our- predicament."What do you want to say?>"Bullshit">"Wow, really? I'm the manifestation of our blood's former owner, and what we could become, provided you weren't such a pussy.""So you aren't actually me then?""Weren't you listening? I'm what you could be: a being of pure power. You just haven't learned the joy of casting aside notions like morality, rejecting humanity, and realizing the joy of servitude." !you say, with a slightly maniacal tone. How do you respond?>"What do you mean by the 'joy of servitude'?">"What power?">"That sounds edgy and shitty">"I'm listening.">Write in

But it's not like it matters. I'm not leaving any time soon. Besides, I think we'll be waking up in a sec. Just try to figure out my -slash- our name soon, okay?" And with that, light floods the room from the other side of the cell. The first thing you notice is somone knocking at the door."Hey, are you in there?" It sounds like Serena's voice."Ye-yea. I'll be out in soon.""Good. Dinner will be ready in a few minutes, there's some stuff we'll be going over. I'll see you there.""See ya." You say as you begin to dry yourself off. After a few minutes spent changing, you leave for dinner.Alright, I'll finish up this chapter tomorrow. >>295709>>295927>>295936You decide it would be best to sit next to the one person you know is somewhat normal. At least, personality-wise. You set yourself down between Serena and who you guess is Jesula. The ancient, dark skinned woman is wearing a white shawl and round glasses tinted pitch black. "Hey Serena. And you must be Jesula. I'm the new butler, Stanley. Nice to meet you." You offer your hand in greeting."Eh? Ah yes, likewise." She says with what you think is a Hatian accent, and takes you hand. It feels like layers of plastic wrapped around greasy chicken bones. "I haven't met a demon on good terms since my younger years. Let alone such a handsome one too." She smiles with a mouth with more than a few missing teeth. You reciprocate nervously. "That's.... interesting."Beatrice speaks up. "Now that we're all here, I would like to address some matters. Firstly, Gerald is taking a bit of break, which I think he's earned seeing as I haven't given him one in the last century. Second, our very own Stanley apprehended a grotesque who tried to get some information. Good job Stan. We did some interrogation of our own, and learned that the beastie was sent by none other than our old friend Salvador Rose. And so, I would officially like to announce that I am coming out of retirement. So I hope you're to ready to fuck some shit up." Beatrice says, energy in her voice. Her fangs are clearly visible. With that, everyone starts to act strangely. They all look like wolves who've been let out of a kennel after a week without food. You can feel the bloodlust in the air. As they cheer, you can't help but feel a little excited yourself. Beatrice stands, her glass in the air."Now, I would like to propose a toast...What do you do?>look around confused>join in the>Write in

But it's not important who he is, I'm just glad we finally get to see some action!""Okay... well, seeing as I'm a puny mortal who got dosed up on demon's blood against my will, and I'm likely to get shot at, why exactly should I be excited?""Stanley, listen, I know this has been weird for you. But your a monster now, like us. And we get to live until either the world ends or sombody comes around and kills us. Sure, you can try and spend the first few hundred years trying to do good, and that's great, but living forever means making enemies. Lots of them. And you made a promise, right?"You take a long sigh. "Yea, but it's not like I wanted to. What's it like, being immortal?""I dunno. Like being mortal, but much longer." Serena says, distracted."What? That's it? Nothing about how it sucks that you have to watch loved ones waste away and the world change?""Why do you think people like us group together Stanley? Pretty much everyone I've ever really known is immortal. I don't spend my day contemplating the philosophical implications, I just try to have a good one.""I guess that's a good point.""Yea. You hear her talking just as you leave through the door "Hey, Sergei, you still got that imported stuff?"Out in the hallway, you take a deep, long breath to calm down. It's been a long day. And now, there is a distinct possibility of having an eternity of long days. "So are you going to bed so soon, little snake?" But sombody who sells it just to screw over people's lives- that's a real dick move." You say with no small amount of anger in your voice."Well, I won't keep you any longer. Get some sleep, little snake. You'll need all the rest you can get.""Yea, alright." After a few minutes, you finally land on the bed. That nap earlier didn't really give you any rest. Things were just getting worse and worse weren't they? You're actually starting to get along with a bunch of monsters who you just discovered are obsessed with bloodshed. And this whole Salvador Rose thing hits kinda close to home. The cocktail of worries mixes in your head until you finally manage to drift off into a dreamless sleep
