Hey y'all. If you couldn't tell, this quest will be taking place in the well known DC Comics universe. Here there be gods and monsters, magicians and aliens, and even a clown or two. But bear in mind that due to various time travel related and or multiversal shenanigans, the DC world is ridiculously complex as a whole. So I'll be running a very streamlined version of it. And to be up front about it, it will likely be shaped by my own likes, dislikes, and biases.Oh, and aforementioned shenanigans won't be making an appearance.Mostly.>The RulesI will write up the life of our young hero Morgan Barrett, a high school student who has just truly begun his career as a superhero in Gotham City as Gray Ghost, you will be given prompts to direct him. Some things will require a dice roll to determine success or failure or something else entirely. Write In's are absolutely encouraged but I reserve the right to torpedo anything. The voting period will last 20 minutes after the prompts are given. I will then announce the voting closed and write up the chosen response.>The DiceWe will be using 1d100 ninety percent of the time here. Best of three. We might use something else when applicable. >>2680058You have several ideas already for new additions to your utility belt just from shooting the shit with Babs. And you're getting rather attached to your goggles so they could use an upgrade or three if they're going to stay relevant. But you'd rather add something new. You think about where your going, you're probably going to have to break in their base, and one tool in particular could be a big help.About an hour in, you're nearly done and in awe of this workbench. The whole things also doubles as a fabricator, a more advanced 3D printer. You lay out the specifications of every part you need and it comes spilling out like a goddamn vending machine. After another couple hours of work, you assemble the laser cutter, and immediately look for something to test it on. After a few minutes of rooting around in the raw materials, you find a nice small sheet of steel. You pull your goggles on, and start cutting. The thing is bright, so it's noticeable in the dark, but it cuts quickly. So if you're just making an entry point, you can do it in no time flat. Grinning at your new invention, you slide it inside of an empty pocket on your belt and head back for the mission room. And one elevator ride later, you're back. And the whole team is here. You take a seat next to Artemis as Robin gets ready to lay down the details to everyone. "Okay everyone, so we have a likely location on Blood's base. Seismic imaging places an underground structure, a very old one, out in the desert near Phoenix."Speedy raises his hand, or hat rather. "So what're we walkin' in to here Robin? More of the bleeding freaks? Cuz I got something I made special just for them.""Well, that's just the thing. Seismic imaging only gives us a silhouette like image. And with it being underground, we're flying without a safety net."Wonder speaks up next. "Their mystical prowess is troubling. I'm familiar with magic, but I am no sorceress. I do wish we had someone to guide us."And Kaldur seems to agree. "It is something completely unlike sorcery from the surface I've encountered. There's something very wrong with it. We should get this operation done as quick as we can."But Artemis isn't so worried. "We'll just have to be extra careful. Not even magic makes you unstoppable. Right, Morgan?""You know it." You both tap knuckles a the memory of one of your first battles, with Cheetah and that cheeky brit Constantine. M'gann is uncharacteristically quiet. But you leave the martian girl to her thoughts.>Continued
>>2680062Without further ado, you all pile inside of the Wonderjet, as you've taken to calling it, and take off for Arizona. A flight that would normally take around five hours is reduced to a breezy half an hour thanks to Donna's mysterious Amazonian vehicle. After the time you spent on the workbench you can't help but wonder what the hell is in the inner workings of this thing to let it move that quick without making a sound. Just another reason to make it to Paradise Island one day. Soon you're hovering silently, invisibly, over a cave system. Robin links his gauntlet to the Wonderjet's onboard computer and displays the seismic imaging data he has. It's a hole, a bigass hole in the Arizona desert. You can see what deters folks from coming near the place. Everyone does gear checks once more before we gather around for the descent. "Alright Titans. This is the big one, I can feel it. The monkey mastermind was serious, but there's something more to this case. I'm sure you all know. Remember your training. And don't forget, the Titans are a team. " After his grim speech he still manages to crack a smile. "So let's go bust a cult, shall we?"The circular hatch opens up after the Wonderjet lowers to the ground of the cave system and you all spread out, in covert mode. Communicating through your visual devices or hand-signs, you dive into the unknown with your friends. >Continued
>>2680063It's strange. By now, you've tangled with career criminals and contract killers, mercenaries and the soldiers of a secret society. You've fought hand to hand with a monster bat in the rain. Escaped the claws of a beast that regularly goes toe to toe with a demigoddess. And you even found your way back from the future. But this place is just filling you with dread. You move silently through the dark, slightly ahead of everyone but Robin. Who takes point. You do a sort of moon jump across the cave floor as a result of your near weightlessness. And even in your bouncy step you just can't find the humor. There's a crushing weight, pressing down on you from a distance. There is something deeply wrong with this place. And though you can't see the detail on their faces, you're sure everyone by your side agrees. Soon, your goggles alert you of movement ahead and everyone prepares for a fight but you don't find one, not at first. You can see it, what must be the entrance to their base. A huge stone door with all kinds of inlaid carvings depicting a myriad of viscous acts of violence. And in front of it. 6 men stand in formation. One easy to recognize once you get a little closer. Just like your last encounter with these cultists, there's one in the lead. Hstands in the center of a human pentagram formation, holding a large dagger close to his heart. They chant in eerie tones of languages you've never heard before, and just standing here without making a move is starting to make you sweat. How should you tackle this?>Triangle formation, plain and simple. One of your bruisers will take the lead and break their concentration. And maybe a few bones.>Try yo set up a pincer attack. You might get caught in the middle. >>2680222You speak up over the psychic link. [I say we set up a classic pincer, catch from the front and the back. They'll never see us comin.]Robin nods, giving silent agreement. [Artemis, Aqualad, you're with me. Speedy, Wondergirl, and Miss Martian. Hit them from the opposite side on my signal. And Morgan, you've got the best stealth capabilities out of all of us. Hit them in the center when we strike. Make the leader hurt.]The two teams split off, leaving you a few dozen feet away from your target. A chill runs through your spine as you begin to disperse. At first you start to worry of the difficulties you used to have fully dispersing your body when you first started out. But where as that felt like trying to hold your breath when you're at your limit. This feels... wrong. Like your body is trying to stop itself. But regardless, you turn to a grey mist and spread upwards across the room. From this vantage point. You can see your friends creeping across the room in their own ways. Wonder and Miss Martian just float right above the ground to negate footsteps. While everyone else crosses the distance with skill and practiced ease. The cultists never hear or see you coming. Artemis and Speedy overdraw their arrows of choice, Donna pulls her lasso taut, Aqualad kneels with both hands on his waterbearers, Robin spreads a number of shuriken between his fingers, and M'gann? Well, you're certain she'll pull out something interesting. When everyone is ready, Robin sounds the battlecry. [Titans GO!]The archers arrows are the first to fly, the stick into one cultist on either side, they view the pierced shoulders with the same indifference to bodily harm as the ones from before but even as they pull the arrows out, they seem different. Slower? They try to react but just end up as pins to be knocked down by the like of Wondergirl. She lassos another cultist and swings him around before slamming him into one of the slowed ones, taking them out of the fight. By now, the remaining cultists have started fighting back. Though they show far more teeth then the ones from before. Their crystalized blood bursts from their bodies and forms crimson spikes ripping from the rough spun robes. Their weapons are much larger and foreboding. Aqualad clashes his water blades against one of the last three. And M'gann takes the initiative and telekinetically hurls stalagmites at the other as he chases after a Robin.>Continued
>>2680587Their leader finally makes a move and attempts to throw an entire spear of crystalized blood at Robin, who's currently flipping over a bloody lance. You take that as you real chance to strike. Reforming in the air above him, you prepare your limbs and bring your hardened elbow down on the leader. You smash through the crystal spike coming out of his should but he isn't fazed. You disperse quickly as he shoots spikes out of his body like he's a porcupine in one of those old cartoons dad liked so much. they pass through you but, damn if they don't sting. Even as you reform, you're not wounded but these weapons have a way of hurting you if they so much as touch you, no matter what form you're in. Falling to a knee, you're wondering how you're gonna tackle the spiny asshole before you hear Robin over the psychic link. [Heads up! Explosives coming your way!]You don't bother asking and disperse. Robin's explosive discs lodge themselves into the leader's blood crystals and shatter his spiky armor on detonation. Robin flips down beside you and gives you a hand. "Having a little trouble? Never meta problem you couldn't punch."Shrugging, you drop into rooted stance to face down the cultist leader. Fists up. >>2681074The lead cultist is a quiet as the grave, which is a bit of a turn from the last. Maybe they aren't feeling so talkative now that you're on their doorstep. [Here's a little tip for everyone, if you can make a dent in their blood constructs, do it. It's about the only thing they can feel.][Acknowledged.] You hear Aqualad sound off before spotting him in the background change the shape of his weapon into a huge hammer and completely smash his opponents blades in one swing. Sending him sprawling across the floor, frothing at the mouth. Damn. Why do people make fun of Aquaman again? Is is the fish talking thing?Meanwhile, the leader clutches his dagger in one hand and rips it out, wrenching plenty of blood free, enough to create a blade of frankly crazy size. One that he also swings with crazy speed, you and Robin drop to the floor, and the woosh of his sword pulls your hood down. Robin plants his escrima sticks and they form a long pole as you've seen before, but it springs forth right into the cultists chin, stunning him long enough for you to make your move.Leaning into his personal space, you focus on stunning him and attacking the blade itself. You deliver a kick to the side of his head and disperse as soon as it connects, he swipes thin air. Then Robin comes back in. Tossing more of his explosive discs into him, though this time he targets the gigantic blade. They stick in and explode, causing spiderweb cracks to appear in the whole thing. He doesn't look worried, but he doesn't look like he feels much of anything. It's time to change that. With reckless abandon, he swings back towards you, you'll meet that challenge. Rearing your right hand back, you try and channel Ted as much as possible, emulating a punch that you've seen stop guys three times his size. Plant your feet, clench that first, and turn your body weight into it.>Continued
>>2681302Your fist connects and just for a moment you feel just how solid it is and think you may have made a mistake. But then that feeling gives way to the the satisfying crunch of the crystal shattering under your attack. The lead cultists doubles over in agony, blood streaming from the corners of his and mouth as he struggles to stay conscious. "You... you aren't changing anything you know. Children playing a game. That's all you are. But soon you'll see reality of the path you've chosen." He smiles, teeth stained pink by the blood. "My master likes games too. And when he arrives, he'll play with you for an eternity-" He's cut short by your fist crashing into his face. "Alright Bloody Mary. We're good on the whole dark master monologue." Turning your attention to the door, you find it hard to even approach the damn thing. The depictions of extreme violence seeming strangely real. Your friends all wipe their hands friends all wipe their hands of their fights with the rest of the other cultists and join you in scrutinizing the door. M'gann floats next to you, eyeing the door with a wary look. "You think we can just... open it?""What kind of death cult leaves their front door open?"Robin steps up, running a hand along the door. "Well, if Batman has taught me anything. It's how to recognize a pattern." He removes one of his R shaped shurikens from his belt and slices a small cut on his palm and smears it on the center of the door. For a moment, nothing but soon it slides open. Unleashing a stale gust of wind. Speedy retrieves arrows and dust off his cap on one of the unconscious bodies. "Okay, since this is turning out far too much like a horror flick but I gotta ask. We splitting up to cover more ground? We barely know what we're looking for here.">Split up. Choose teammates and a direction. You'll find something much more quickly.>Stay together. Choose teammates and a direction. You'll find something much more quickly.M'gann can keep us in constant communication with each other, so the primary downside goes away.>>2681320That bit of wisdom is really only applicable in D&D and similar "kick in the door and slay all the goblins" style RPGs. And there it's mostly a matter of making you DM's life easier. Because when you split up he has to both SOMEHOW keep both halves of the party engaged despite half of them basically sitting around watching the others play, AND alter encounters on the fly that he designed for the whole party for the compositions of the two half-parties.Due to the more narrative nature of a quest, it's a much lesser problem.
>>2681354There’s also the issue of one group running into something that they can’t handle without the support of the rest of the team. It’s not just for convenience, nobody likes splitting up, and then coming to a challenge that would have been easily solvable with a member of the group that’s not with you. Besides, all that would need to happen is for M’gann to be taken down and we’d lose a lot of our ability to coordinate with the others.

And if something were to happen to M'gann then we'd be isolated, communication wise." He then taps on his gauntlet, nodding when his suspicions are confirmed. "And there's some kind of interference over comms. No doubt it has everything to do with the magical creepy aura thing this cave is giving off."Speedy snorts. "How scientific.""Shut it, Harper. I know you can feel it too. There's something... wrong here." The team only mumbles it's agreement. Yeah, we can all feel it. It's something you used to feel back before highschool. Before every punk on the street with an attitude problem had it out for you. When you were forced to learn to fight. Your muscles tense up, your knees lock. Any punch you throw feels like you're your trying to do so underwater. Nobody says anything of it. But you know you can all feel it. This place is creeping into you. And you barely want to think about it but you're afraid to think about what you may find here.----This walls beyond the main door transform this place into something else entirely. The floors and walls are still stone but it's like every inch of the place was carved out by the most fucked up artist to ever live. The obscene depictions of violence never end. There are spikes and blades in places they never should be. Lining walls, torch bearers, covering tight hallways, even on the floor in some halls. It's like the damn building itself is thirsty. Everyone's been dead quiet. Even over the psychic link. Even when you come across the occasional group of cultists you execute your battle plans with little chatter and leave their battered bodies behind. Robin tried to interrogate one, but he just started bleeding from the eyes and laughing. Not the reaction anyone was expecting. There's a small part of you that's starting to think coming down here was a mistake. But all it takes is to think about the faces of those girls. They were dragged into something that looks like a nightmare. And for what? Because they've all got dark hair may have stepped into a Hot Topic every now and again? You've gotta find whatever is at the bottom of this whole bloody, ugly thing. Or you literally won't be able to sleep at night.>Continued

The laws of this place are pain and sacrifice. And I know plenty on those subjects."Aqualad applies some water to his wounds using his powers. It seems to sooth it at least somewhat. He also helps him walk as you all carry on from his holding chamber. "You claim to be an expert, then allow me to test that. What is the source of these horrific nightmares?"Before he speaks, he lights up, his slightly shaky hands only steadying once a cig is in them. "Oh there more than nightmares, these are darkness made realized. Evil attempting to take hold on the physical plane of our realm. And it's happening, all because of an extremely powerful, albeit extremely brutish scrying spell that the big cheese here has been casting for the past month.""Scrying? Then he is looking for something." Wonder remarks while pushing open a another huge stone door for us."Ah ah ah, not something. Someone. I dunno if you notice, but the guys around here have a real thing for raven haired beauties. Not that I'm any different. But their target is far too young for my tastes-""Didn't ask for your dating profile, John. Get to the the point." Speedy gets him back on track."I was gettin to that bit. Be patient. Then there's the rows of robed cultists with there foreheads to ground in prayer. "And this, boys and girls, is why you always hire a professional."Constantine reaches into his coat, pulling out some kind of small jar. Inside is a moth, a petrified one. Dumping it out onto his hand, he crushes it without a second thought and blows the dust in front of the group. "Quickly now, walk into that and continue into the room. Don't stop until we reach the other side. They won't be able to see or hear us. But I don't exactly have a large supply of celestial moths."You're honestly a little surprised to hear the voice of M'gann, who's been weirdly quiet until now. "B-but what can be so important about one girl? So much death and pain. And for what?""Well, I'm sure you've heard at least one of these absolute fools go on about some dark master, yeah? The girl is the key. And you don't want this demon knockin on the front door of this reality. No sir." Eventually, you all cross the room, and reach a huge stone pedestal. Wondergirl in the lead. "A ritual summoning? We can't allow this to continue."Constantine rubs his hands together, whispering a few words and producing that scarlet flame he used last time you met. A gross sickly sweet smell flows off of him for a moment as he burns his wounds closed. "Yer damn right girly. Which is why you should be glad to have me along for the ride." He approaches the pedestal, reaching out for the huge red bound tome sitting on it. "And now I have just what I need to... oh bollocks."What happens next occurs in a whirlwind The pool of blood stirs, no comes to goddamn life with motion, swirling unnaturally until a figure comes through. Horned and caped. His eyes reflecting off what little light there is here. There's no mistaking it. He's the man in charge. The big cheese as Constantine put it."Children." He says, his voice echoing on it's own. "Children children children. Why so you fight? Why do you come here stumbling in the dark, rallying against that which you barely begin to understand?"You're all stunned by him, his presence. It's like he's the focal point of this place. The very air around you is choking you. You don't know what to do, how to move or what move to make. Constantine breaks the still silence, lunging for the book. And the world turns red as the pool launches upward in a surge."Ah, well. That is fine. I'll get to you know all very well. Come children, to your Brother Blood.">Roll 7d100This'll be for the Titans individually. In this order. Grey Ghost, Robin, Speedy, Wondergirl, Aqualad, Artemis, Miss Martian. We'll be starting your first really big combat situation tomorrow, a true boss fight, if you will. There will be time for strategy as well, so think on it. Good luck!

>>2686728EVERYONE has had a thing with Nightwing.Literally every woman in the DCU knows how to get Dick from Richard.Even if he doesn't want to give it up. That's right, i went there!
>>2686889For a moment, blood begins to circle you, splashing and lapping unnaturally. And you all don't move, refuse to move even. But not Blondie. You see an emerald arrow launch out straight for the horned man's face. Though he catches it. Moving faster than you were prepared for. He looks down at the arrow in his hand with a smirk on his face. "Predictable.""You sure about that?" [Titans! Shield your eyes!]The arrowhead opens, giving Blood just enough time to know he made a mistake. Even through your goggles the flash forces your eyes closed. But it protects you from the worst of it. With Blood temporarily stunned. The team moves in. Wondergirl is next right after coming down on him with her fists. Even though his eyes are tightly shut, he protects himself. The blood around him surges up and around, instantly crystalizing to form walls in front of Wonder's blows. Now Robin, he catches his grapnel on the ceiling and launches himself up, using the wire to swing past the bloody hazards put in his way. With a yell, he slams his fighting pole directly on the top of his head. But it doesn't appear to be enough. He retreats into the pool of blood. Sliding backwards then sinking inside of it. For a tense moment, no one knows what to do. Then the pool explodes, Sending shards of blood crystals everywhere. The team does it's best to avoid being showered but it separates all of you. When he emerges, there's four of him. Perfect copies as far as you can tell. Not that it matters. He rides the blood like he was goddamn surfing and rounds on you with a blood spear that jumps into his hand. He hurls it and you instinctively disperse before you can really think. Taking a page outta Robin's book, you hook onto the wall of crystalized blood he's leaving in his wake and fly towards him in your ultra light state. And just as you're approaching him at top speed you reconstitute and plant both feet in his chest, double kicking him off of his wave. Though your victory is short lived. Your Blood was a copy, he shatters into red shards when he lands on the stone floor.[One down!] You let the team know. [Soon to be two!] Aqualad responds, and you see him. Locked in a swordfight with another Brother Blood. He spins about like he's almost dancing. Trying to cut your atlantean friend with twin blood blades. Though Kaldur takes it all in stride. Clearly more comfortable in this kind of traditional combat. He flourishes his water blades, stretching them and warping them to be several feet long for just a second. Shattering Brother Blood's blades and causing one of the other's to gasp in pain.>Continued
>>2687082Aqualad cuts his clone down to size and the end result is the same as yours. [Speedy is currently engaged with the real Blood. Titans, converge on Speedy!][A little busy here!] Miss Martian is having more than a little trouble. The final clone begins throwing waves of tiny needles at her, that she's only avoiding by ripping up huge stones blacks from the floor. You try to make it over to her, but now the praying cultists are standing one my one, getting in your way with their magic weapons. [M'gann, he's not real! Take off the kid gloves!] [Oh! Hello Meagan!] With that, she pulls another block from the floor behind him, and slams the two together at high speeds, making the floor shake from the impact. Boy are you glad she's on this team. But when you finally make it to Speedy, you see this sin't gonna be anywhere close to that easy. Brother Blood has him in his clutches. His bow thrown to the floor, and his hands held behind him tight. "I will admit you are excellent players. But I believe this game of yours has come to an end.""Don't worry about me guys! He's just a Jim Jones wannabe with a few magic tric-" Blood tightened his grip around his neck."Shhhh. As much as I was enjoying your yammering. If I wanted to know more about you, I'd simply cut you open. Blood is the source for all life on this world, children. The Red reveals all." He draws a long sharp nail along the side of Speedy's face, causing the barest line of blood to spill down his chin. "I wonder what will come spilling out of you, hmm? Hopes, fears... inadequacies? " He licks the side of Speedy's face. lapping up the blood. "Yes, plenty of those I think!"You step up, tired of him tormenting Roy. "Let him go, Blood. We're shutting down your little nightmare factory!" "Oh my boy, you don't even know. The nightmares have barely begun!" The cultists begin to surround you chanting that word again. Trigon. Then a whistle breaks the moment. And everyone looks back towards the opposite end of the room.Constantine, sits on the stone pedestal, sleeves rolled back up over his scars. Lazily taking a hit off of his cigarette. "Are you done? The threats and promises? I mean it's all very exciting mate but I'm ready to talk business."Blood scoffs. "Fool mage. You may have escaped your bonds but you will never leave the church alive. What could you possibly offer me?">Continued
>>2687086"How about your own good book?" He waves around the red bound book that he came for when you first entered the room. "Though, it ain't the book what's important. It's what's in the pages innit?" He reaches inside, between the pages impossibly far. And pulls out a mirror. And that get's Blood's attention. "Constantine, what are you scheming?" Robin tries to get closer but Blood stops him. "I'm listening." He says. And Constatine's smug grin comes back."The deals simple. Let me walk outta here with the book and you get to keep your mirror." He hops down from the pedestal, walking toward Brother Blood, And the blood pool around him makes way for him."Are you suggesting I let you abscond with our sacred text?!" "It's either that or the mirror." He shrugs."And what of the children?" Blood asks."What about em? They're your problem mate. Just yours."After a long silence, you think Blood is going to attack again. But the blood pool spreads open to create a path out of the room. The cultists doing the same. "Know that you are on borrowed time, Constantine. Soon not even you will be able to hide from my influ-""Yeah yeah, threats and promises mate. Goodbye kiddos, good luck with the brawl. You're gonna need it." Without another word, he tosses the mirror from the book. And Blood drops everything, lunging for it. But his blood continues to protect him, along with the cult. But he also leaves Speedy in the hands of two cultists, who raise their daggers high. This isn't good.>Try to intercept Blood>Attempt to destroy the mirror>Focus on saving Speedy

>>2688016>>2688002It's less the fact that you're so good, and more that you're excelling at hand to hand so much in such a short amount of time. In a fight, you rely about 90% on your powers and your fighting skills. And you've also shown massive mental fortitude.(your fight with Grodd) Those are the reasons you've got eyes on you. And there's the obvious implication that if you put your mind to killing, with your seemingly savant level learning rate and power set. There'd be little to nothing people could do to stop you.Being on Batman's watch list usually just means you're dangerous. But yeah. I'm gonna sleep on this next update. But I'll be back tomorrow morning. And one more thing, do you guys prefer short and to the point posts for fight scenes? Or are you good with these BIG posts I tend to make?

>>2688828You don't even have to think about it. [M'gann! Get that mirror! I've got Roy covered.][On it!] She becomes intangible and sinks through the floor, denying the cultists that were surrounding her. But you still have some distance to cross. You're sure the mindless dirtbags in front of you won't mind. Firing your grapnel, you hook it onto someone shoulder, who barely reacts as you pull yourself halfway across the room to Speedy's location. You've done this a million times at this point. As you approach your target you reconstitute yourself. Becoming solid just in time to deliver a roundhouse kick to both of the goons holding Speedy down. But you go wrong somewhere, or maybe you just got unlucky, A crystal needle hits you, right in the thigh, the pain causing you to fly off course and tackle only one of Speedy's assailants. The other, continues his job with mechanical determination. The spike in your leg shoots pain up through your body, and it delays you just enough. The cultists plunges his dagger towards Speedy's chest. Only to have his own attack diverted by a clutch arrow from Artemis. But it doesn't save your friend completely, he still takes a knife to his upper arm and cries out from the pain. But even still, he soldiers on. He shoves the cultist off of him and sticks him with grapple arrow straight from his quiver.Which actually sticks him to another nearby cultist and ties them up. He rolls and picks up his lost bow in one smooth motion, and is back in the game. Shooting down cultists left and right while back to back with Artemis. The fighting from there flies into a bit of a blur for you. You're taken back to a time before you moved to Gotham, when a group of boys jumped you outside of Garfield. You took quite a few licks yourself but you made them afraid to come after you like that again.>Contined
>>2689232Well, you're not even sure if these freaks can feel regret anymore. But you'll make these guys wish they hadn't even started this mess. Shurikens and arrows and fists fly, lightning is unleashed, the air itself quakes with the strength of the blows being dealt, and in what you're going to consider record time. The cult is down. And Blood is standing patiently in the center of all the beaten bodies.Everyone is damn tired, but you know you've got him cornered. M'gann rises back up through the floor the mirror safely clutched to her chest. The Titans join each other side by side and you realize that you've come to a bit of a stand off here."It's time to fess up now Blood, what's up with the mirror?" You press the cult leader, but he doesn't seem worried."Child, the only thing you've accomplished is delaying the inevitable by mere hours at best." He gestures to the dozens of cultists at his feet. "But you did give me some fresh sacrifices..."Robin is the first among you to move. "Titans! Evasive action!"More blood than ever explodes upward, showering the room, though not a single drop touches you. "I am not like Constantine, children. I know true magic. The kind that will make you beg for the release of sacrifice before the night is through. And being but children, you are very transparent to me. Yes, I can see right through your brave facades."The blood begins to take shape now, twisting and undulating. And you're nearly transfixed watching it. It takes the form of a person, a man. >>2689970It's a cold day in Metropolis. You're still irritated about having to spend most of your day in the auditorium of Garfield High, listening to Principal Pierce and his guest speakers go on and on about whatever motivational crap they've got goin' on this week. It was some shit about workshops or whatever this time. Or maybe that mentorship program that Pierce tried to rope you into several times already. It seemed like the most annoying thing in the world back then.Walking home in the fresh snow always felt refreshing to you though. It's not quite powder, but it's also not that god-awful slush that you get when it doesn't snow enough to really build up. Every time your boots crunch against the snow you enjoy it. Your own little therapy session before you get back home. Dad'll probably put you to work as soon as you get back anyway. Never too soon to start shoveling! He always says. Then he guilt trips you about mom slipping on the walkway. Not that he meant it.Your problems were so small. But you're okay with being put to work at home, since school on monday isn't gonna be any more fun. You've got even more evacuation drills scheduled for next week. You get it. There's some freak droppin' out of the sky every other week in Metropolis. And there's nobody comin' down here if an alien crushes your school. Even dad calls Suicide Slums the Metropolis that everyone forgets. But even so, it was your home. Wasn't it?You laugh as you tread up the walkway to your front door. You slipped and almost lost your balance. You can't wait to tell dad his joking threats have a little more bite now. But your smile practically falls off of your face when you touch the door to insert the key and it pushes open. Your surprised, but you don't panic. It's entirely possible that dad was preparing to do that shoveling and left the door open for convenience. So you head inside. "Dad! I'm home!" No answer. You shrug and head for the garage. That's where dad kept his little workshop and all the tools of course. But the doors locked, he can't be in there then. And that means he's not doing yard work. But the lights in the house are on as usual. You train of through is interrupted as you slip.Never too late.>Continued
>>2690324Naturally, your gaze shoots downward. Blood. You must've missed it. It's on the floor in small spurts. That gradually get larger as they lead into the kitchen. Your mind jumps to the next logical conclusion. Dad must've cut himself in the garage. But he didn't answer when you called. Panic starts to take hold. Did he pass out from blood loss? Did he take himself to the hospital without calling you?All better alternatives. So of course, you follow the blood. It's only several feet from the hallway to the kitchen but it's the longest several steps in your life. You grip the wall as well as you can to avoid slipping on the errant splashes of blood. You've reached the kitchen door. Only now you smell it. Pungent, thick in the air as if it was made from it. Blood.Only needed to see it once in reality for it to bore a hole in your mind forever. Once in reality. Many times over in your nightmares. Skin cut apart all over, death by a thousand cuts. It feels as though you're own blood has stopped pumping. Turned to ice in your veins. This can't be. You refuse to let it. You're body vibrates with fear. You'd need to be somewhere else. Anywhere else. And so you are.Your body explodes. But you don't die, no. But it feels like it. You are everywhere, and nowhere. You are falling. Or are you rising? It doesn't matter, because you are lost. In places where not even the biggest or smallest heroes could find you. You might as well not even exist.Until, a hand reaches out for you.-----"Ghost!" Your eyes open. And you feel tears in them for the first time in a while. And him making you go through those memories again is no small part of that. He doesn't stop you, so you keep wailing on him causing the man to spill his own blood for the first time since this fight began. But he get's tired of you, and pulls the same trick another of his goons did earlier. Releasing a spray of blood spikes from his body. You disperse completely and avoid them. Just in time for M'gann's turn. Through your scattered particles, she catapults chunks of the floor at him. Staying completely out of range while throwing off his own aim with his magic.>Continued
>>2694612Just when he's getting overwhelmed, you see Wonder's lasso wrap around his free hand and pull him to one side. You can see her floating midair, struggling to keep that arm pulled away. Meanwhile, Aqualad practically wades through the blood on the floor until he gets to the base of the horizontal torrent. With a yell, his tattoos glow with energy and he thrust his hands into the wave. At first, nothing happens. But he throws everything he has into it. Eventually electrocuting the Brother Blood through his own spell.Even with everything you just through at him, he's still clutching that mirror tight. But his concentration is broken. The chanting has stopped and the light from the mirror is flickering. This is the only chance you're gonna get. Your heart rate jumps up even higher as you watch Speedy and Artemis' arrows fly from opposite sides. But they still strike true, despite Blood's taunts, his magic, his endless goddamn stream of flunkies. You beat him! The mirror explodes as the arrows pierce it from both sides and shatter the glass. That strange dark light flies all around the room. even causing some of the unconscious cultists to disappear when it hit them. What happens to them, you can only guess. When the light finally stops, the blood on the floor has instantly dried, leaving only a red dust on the surfaces of the church. But despite your tired legs, your sore fists. This fights not over yet. In the darkness of that strange light. Two new figures have appeared. A girl, much like the ones you rescued earlier tonight. And a man. covered in head to toe in black armor. As pure dark as that light. Save for the blood red V on his chest. You don't like what you hear next. Laughter. Blood's laughter. It's hoarse, like an old mans, like he hasn't laughed a day in his life. But he's yuckin' it up. "You- you fools. You think yourselves heroes? Delaying the inevitable is all you will succeed at. But you fail even at that tonight. Behold! The instrument of my master's violent will. Behold the Herald of Trigon!"The red V on his armor and helmet blaze with an inner crimson light as he raises twin pistols and levels them at the Titans. "This will be a long night.">End of SessionAlright guys, that was good! I think. Not sure if I'm gonna run like this again but it felt good to write more and make some progress. IF you've got any questions or wanna yell at me. I'll be around. Otherwise, thanks for playing! We'll be back next weekend.

>>2688012>So we don't have to deal with Gail Simone's cherry-picked bullshit, and by extension don't have to watch somebody who was fired for being behind schedule consistently, magically get their job back by inciting an internet mob?Wot? No seriously I'm out of the loop on DC stuff. What's up with Gail Simone?
