>>2618233>Does player discussion in your quest impact the future events you haven't written yet?Sometimes it did, but only rarely.
>>2618268A New Mutant Quest has updated.
>>2618233>QM Question: Speaking for myself, it does add ideas for parts of the quest. I have incorporated ideas from the anons in the threads before, so long as they are make sense to add. The overall quest story-line or layout doesn't change however, as only their choices change that. >Player Question:There's several series I would like to see, some more dead than others. Personally, if someone made a Parasite Eve or Panzer Dragoon Quest, I would be on that shit every evening.>Player Question 2: Electric BoogalooNerv Bridge Simulator had a couple of these, but the best one had to be the assault on North Pole Angel. It started out as a biological sniper battle with an experimental weapon, and ended with the pilots tanking a city destroying angel shot with their EVA's.>Special lurker questionChrist, I actually haven't looked into too many quests in recent months. The last one I did vote in was in Claymore Quest's first thread, on choosing the player character's specialization. I remember actively voting for a few posts and I unfortunately never came back to it.
>>2618278>Parasite Eve>Parasite Eve is a 1998 action role-playing video game developed and published by Square. What?
>>2618233>QM Question:Yup, >Player Question:Shadowrun noire action quest.>Player Question 2: Electric BoogalooThat time we didn't know what scissoring was in HMQ
>>2618233>Does player discussion in your quest impact the future events you haven't written yet? As in will you change or add something based on your anons shooting the shit and coming up with ideas.Should it not? It depends based on how reasonable it is, creativity is creativity whether it comes from author of audience in a quest.Anyways, Futoshi stealing things from Goro!>>2605204
>>2618297It was one of Square's more experimental games before FF7, combining horror and RPG elements in a very modern fantasy setting with New York City as a backdrop. It got two sequels, one of which is ok, and the other is so god awful that they literally couldn't put Parasite Eve on the title. The setting itself is interesting with the whole magic powers coming from hyper advanced biology rather than actual magic. I would love to see someone adapt this into a quest.
>Does player discussion in your quest impact the future events you haven't written yet? As in will you change or add something based on your anons shooting the shit and coming up with ideas. All the time. I always have deliberate "holes" in my plans for players to fill with their ideas. I'd say at some points it's almost collaborative.>What is a quest you hope to see in the future? (Genre and series included within context)I'd honestly like to see a good smut quest.>Do you have a 11/10 moment in a quest you remember fondly? Tell us.Definitely the satellite drop. What a fucking ride up to that point. On the QM side, Bastard's Boars' second thread still is one of my favorite questing experience so far.
>>2607030Chapter 10 of my current project. Have been doing Pokemon quests since 2012, formerly on /vp/, now here. Currently in the middle of my fourth quest, which is a reinterpretation of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon wherein the POV switches between the two MCs with each chapter. My style is lighthearted, over-the-top, and "monster-of-the-week" focused, and battles are a mix of game mechanics with the more kinetic elements you might see from the anime. I detail it better in this pastebin, also has archives for my older stuff.https://pastebin.com/my72UJDuThe earlier quests aren't necessary to understand the current one, but I do slip in lore and reoccurring characters for veteran readers, but again, scholarly knowledge of them isn't required. I don't expect people to read 125+ chapters of material. Catch up on the current one and you're good to go, or don't and just go with the flow. I always welcome new players, so if you're interested, come aboard.>QM Question: Does player discussion in your quest impact the future events you haven't written yet? As in will you change or add something based on your anons shooting the shit and coming up with ideas.Absolutely. Not always, but I have altered and considered altering things based on what I've read my players shooting the shit about.

What is it about quests that makes it so niche? If an artist already as a moderate art following on their social media, whats stopping them from posting a small interactive doodle story updated day to day to interact with their followers?
>>2618614They probably haven't thought of it yet or they don't have the time to produce it at a constant rate while also producing art at the same quality that their followers expect it to be.

Tell us.When Kid died in BCQ. No quarter given for it. Also way back when, the quest where you were a Super Computer AI fighting against God in a post-rapture world. Literally against an omnipotent and omniscient opponent with the only advantage being that the other side had to play by their own rules as well. The final roll of the quest was just fucking unbelievable and appropriate.>Special lurker question: When was the last time you voted in a quest? Was it a crucial vote? You should probably vote more. Your QM will appreciate it.The QM might appreciate it, but when the rest of the players want a shit fetish quest I know that any vote that doesn't rely on the dice working out is pointless so why bother.I just read the threads afterwards. Some QMs are better writers than they are actually running Quests resulting in broken systems or not being able to control player involvement so that they end up with players making retarded choices then bitching when it bites them in the ass.

I'm running a little, simple quest based on Mecha from a game I played. It mainly relies on dice rolls added onto base stats. Along the way, you can try to recruit certain enemies as they try to invade your base. The goal is to get to the enemy base, and that's how you win! It's just a simple, likely short, quest to see some robots hit each other back and forth.>>2610070>>2610070>>2610070

>>2619506>If furry was allowed on 4chan.>Implying furry isn't allowed on certain boards on 4chan like /trash/ and /b/>how many Sonic quests do you think there would be?None, like now.No one's stopping you from running a quest with anthro characters, hell, I recall a drawquest where everyone was an anthro character, though I can't remember what it was called, just that the MC was a cat and the entire quest took place in a modern day town.Anons are just conditioned to view anything remotely anthro as bad wrong and to autistically shut it down even if there's nothing sexual or fetishistic about it. see >>2619651Having anthro characters can be a nice aesthetic choice to make your worlds seem more alien, to make it more lighthearted or better suited for slapstick, it also brings up nostalgia of the lighthearted adventures we saw as kids like Duck Tales, Robin Hood, Redwall, Looney Tunes, ect.Honestly, furry quests should be allowed on /qst/, even shitty sanic the hedgeheg or Zootopia ones, let them be and let them die from lack of players because if we ban those quests just because they feature anthro characters then by that same token we'd have to ban potentially amazing Redwall or Mouse Guard quests too, and if you think making something like pic related verboten for a quest just because it's anthro I don't know what to tell you other than you have the taste of shit and should reevaluate your life.

>>2620076>that OCI’m working on something really similar.
>>2619823Excellent points.I think I automatically translated "allowed on 4chan" to "able to be posted on 4chan without incurring negative attention severe enough to make it not worthwhile".I stand by my opinion that none = too many, however.
>>2619651I realize it sounds really dumb, but I was thinking about fanfiction, and knowing there's a ton of Sonic stuff, I was wondering if anyone would actually run such a thing as a quest. I'm going to go ahead and admit that I enjoy both the concepts of classic Sonic and the Freedom Fighters of Mobius, but I can't stand the overall direction the more recent games went in (though, Generations and Mania were great).
>>2620302The Freedom Fighter stuff basically was fanfiction that got made into a cartoon, then published through the Archie Comic series.I think if somebody did one, it would be set in the Generations or Mania-like universes, as the success of those games and the relative failure of something like Sonic Forces makes it kind of easy to bring in fans.On the other hand, the Classic games series don't have too much leeway in what you as a QM can do to bail yourself out of trouble, whereas with the FF stuff you literally have to be SOMINUS to fuck it up and die.
>>2620302>I was wondering if anyone would actually run such a thing as a questDoubtful, you have to remember that the fanfiction scene of the sonic series is populated largely by children and a bunch of CWC level autists.Chris Chan level autists don't really become QMs, let alone the kids that lurk the boards hiding their underageb& status.Besides that, and this is my subjective opinion, the design of the Sonic characters is just overall unappealing, the uni-eyes, the proportions, the completely naked save for gloves and shoes males, it's just bad, and I think a lot of people think the same which is why I believe it's more likely you'll find other quests of anthro franchises with more appealing designs or straight up OC before you'd find a Sonic quest.
>>2619823>>2620302>>2620319>>2620398While Sonic might not work, more quests like Redwall, Mouse Guard or pic related would be great imo
>>2620398>fanfiction scene of the sonic series is populated largely by those that don't really become QMsThis>the design of the Sonic characters is just overall unappealingI'm with you.>which is why I believe it's more likely you'll find other quests of anthro franchises with more appealing designsThis is where you lost me.The idea of a QM choosing whether or not they'll run a quest based on the appeal of the character art they might use seems downright odd to me.
The real question is when are we getting a Sonichu quest?
>>2618233>Player Question 2: Electric BoogalooBeheading giant robots and ice quakers. It didn't feel good, but the village of constant buzzing in your ears was truly unsettling.Flinging a giant ball of flesh zombies straight over the walls of the capital and into the residential district just to open the door.Outplanning, outgunning, and outrusing a mad scientist without a single casualty.Watching everyone kill a gore magala expy while not only ignoring but outright avoiding the summoner that revives it.Guessing a major mechanic of a quest in the same post that rolled the Nat 1 to trigger the mechanic.
Was this not a sonic quest?>>2618960
>>2618233>QM Question:Sometimes, if I like it. It really depends on how I feel about the suggestion.
>>2620539>This is where you lost me.>The idea of a QM choosing whether or not they'll run a quest based on the appeal of the character art they might use seems downright odd to me.Character art has little to do with it, you're looking at it from the wrong angle, even if you didn't use pictures, the world you'd try to show the players would still be tainted by unapealling design.Overall aesthetics plays a part in one's desire to run a quest, and how characters are supposed to look plays a huge part in it, nothing odd about it, it's why a QM chooses to run a post apocalyptic quest, for example, despite the world being a dead cesspit of radiation and the people filthy and hobo like. It's still pleasing on an aesthetic level, it's why a QM might run a western quest, despite the arid, inhospitable frontier being unsightly and filled with rough people. It's just not something QMs usually think about because they naturally gravitate towards what they like when writing.Case in point >>2620543Would you run a quest if you had to keep in mind the characters that inhabited the world you're presenting would look like that when writing them?>>2620586Kek, Quest is still delivering prime shitposting hooks I see. >>2618233>What is a quest you hope to see in the future? >>2620609>do people actually lurk on /qst/? Why?Yes, because they prefer reading rather than playing.
>>2620613But why? Like I read old quests all the time, but actually playing and contributing is so much fun, sometimes I'm the only person in a quest for long periods of time, why would you not vote? it seems silly not to, it's not like you're gonna lose anything from posting, you get to read it all the same and you're QM will know more people care
>>2620596>Overall aesthetics plays a part in one's desire to run a quest, and how characters are supposed to look plays a huge part in it, nothing odd about itNope. Not seeing it.Rarely do you see character appearances mentioned in quest pitches, for good reason. If someone doesn't want to run a Sonic quest and chooses not to, I sincerely doubt that the character design aesthetic was the primary reason.
>>2620619Many quests require reading previous threads to understand the context of votes, and some level of consideration when proposing plans. Civ quests are most notorious in this regard.
>>2620623>require reading previous threads to understand the contextwait if you just wanna read quests wouldn't you want to start at the beginning anyway? it doesn't make sense to me to just start reading a quest that's been running for a while without reading any previous threads and then not voting even when you're caught up
>>2620627I read quests when they're in a catalog. When I both play in multiple quests and read them, it's impossible for me to afford the time to go through the archives for all of them. >>2620609>a good civ would be coolSpeaking of that, I'm working on a civ right now. It's gonna be like that "Actually hard civ quest" game that ran a long time ago. Anybody got tips/suggestions?
>>2618233I just want hive quest, death among the stars and house and dominion to return to their previous glory. This board gets too little traffic for those things to be filled like before, coupled with irl issues for the quest makers its a bad feel man.
>>2620319>>2620409Interesting. I guess my next question would be how well-received would a quest styled like Mouseguard do if it were set in a grim future where a not!robotnik has basically won, and the protags are fighting for their freedom?
>>2620794HQQ is a funny one in that, too. Even on /tg/ there'd be times where QD would only get 5-8 responses to a post until something everyone feels is important (or funny) comes up and 50 previously uncommitted lurkers surge forth with hot opinions. So even when responses were low, you knew they were there. Just waiting for the humans to do something incredibly fucking stupid again.I would say we need more good commander style quests, but they become harder to run over time and kill their QMs pretty often.>>2620759Nothing that's not generic advice, plan for every bigger stage, use excel if you're into torturing yourself, etc.
>>2620912A New Mutant Quest has updated.
Out of curiosity, what would anons think of a Necromunda quest? It’d be based almost entirely in the original game, since that’s what I have all the magazines and rulebooks for and I have no idea what the fluff for the new game is like. Would probably start out as some street urchin, with the eventual option of joining one of the original six houses, but maybe I’d add the option to start as a Ratskin or Spyrer, not sure.
>>2620620Do you QM or write stories?
>>2620923Just remember that the rules as stated in TTRPGs often are not compatible with /qst/ formats such as best of three or anons making exceptionally bad ideas that result in character death. So either give your PC plot armor, or have a way to quickly generate new characters.
>>2618233>What is a quest you hope to see in the future? (Genre and series included within context)More science fiction quests that are not mecha or space opera. Something like Blade Runner will scratch the itch nicely. >When was the last time you voted in a quest? Was it a crucial vote? You should probably vote more. Like old Privateer Quest by Machine SpiritNaval exploration quest was great. OC, non-smut and outstanding worldbuilding. Howard best character ever.
>>2620999Oh yeah, didn't mean I'd actually use the Necromunda rules, otherwise characters would be dying left and right. Would just be making use of the setting and fluff. I think I'd probably just do Bo3 with d100s for actions the players take, probably with the occasional bonus tacked on depending on what they're rolling for.
Is akun more lenient with update size and schedule than /qst/? What I mean, quest that don't update frequently, or whom updates are too big tend to die pretty quickly here, unless they have survived long enough to have commited players. I have not seen this happening on akun. Do quests even die of no votes in akun?I know that akun players are shit, but at least there are players.
>>2621091>Do quests even die of no votes in akun?YesYou just don't see them cause they go to the bottom of akun's 'Wall' and no one wants to navigate that site more than they have to.
>>2620759I'm working on one too.I'll post the rules I'm cobbling together when I finish them, eventually. The best advice I've found has been to know what you're getting into before you start.Civ thread QMs need to accept that it's work and involved.I personally wanted the support of a clearer rules system. The less you have to fiat and figure out as you go, the less work you have to do at once while running.
>>2621091As far as big updates go, I'd recommend attracting the players at the start of the first thread with whatever makes your quest cool, then starting with the large updates after the first session.Starting a Quest with a wall of text is generally always a bad idea. Also, accepting steady handfuls of votes is better than chasing after the prize of "more" (You)s.If you're not enough without the prize, you'll never be enough with it.I personally like big updates.
>>2618233>Player Question: What is a quest you hope to see in the future? >What is a quest you hope to see in the future? (Genre and series included within context)Hard to say. I have a few ideas for quests that I would like to see, but at the same time I dread the idea of a popular QM taking a tangentially similar premise and running something I'm not interested in, and I feel that I can't trust anyone but myself to run quests I want to see.The quests I pick up generally aren't ones with premises that would have crossed my mind had I not seen them in the catalog. Someone run a quest about enchanting with the sigil rune system(Banished Quests enchanting was based on it)The new sigil system is shit though but if you run it I'll toss you the book
>>2623419I'd rather make my own magic system that's been customized to the quest itself. The system has a lot of good stuff to borrow, but its context in the lore and relative power is what made it so potent. For a quest about enchanting I feel like you'd need several somethings more, BQ's enchanting had a lot more going on around it in the magic itself and Soma changing rules and meaning around to be more efficient.
>>2623448Just make a quest with an enchanting system at least vaguely based on sigils so I can use my autistic knowledge of it that currently has zero use

>>2624813Go to the library, or a cafe or ride the busWear headphones so it looks like you are listening to somethingListen to people around you talk and take note of it.
Whatever happened to the SpookyG/Ghost Thread?
>>2624813Read. Read a lot. Read stories that are heavy on character interaction. Dialog is one of those things that you just have to pick up through exposure, and if you're not exposed to a lot of it in real life then you need to compensate by supplementing your dialogue intake with artificial injections. Also try reading the scripts of plays, aloud to yourself if possible. Plays tend to feature characters talking a lot more than most books, so it can help you develop an ear for dialogue. Then try practicing by writing stories in a script format. Then read the story back to yourself. Then do it again. And again. And again.

Where can I read more about [Skirmish] type of quests like this >>2604283 one?I played one way back for a bit and want to know the format more and check out few examples.
>>2624949I don't think you can read _about_ them anywhere. But for more examples you can check out >>2596515б as well search suptg.Or I can try to answer your questions I suppose.
>>2624950Look at >>2596518 , there are many little things that seem important but aren't explained. There is no legend that would let you understand what half of those symbols mean, its implied you should already know this shit like a back of your hand, even when its the very first thread. And the fact that they are drawn while very cute and nice-looking rises an additional problem - is this symbol the same as that one just drawn a bit differently or does it mean something completely different?I was hoping those types of quests are somewhat bound by similar and already established rules, given most of those I seen act as you are supposed to already know how mechanics work before joining in and don't go into details.
>>2624963Oh. That.I'll be frank: I'm playing this skirmish and I had (and sometimes still have) all the same issues. This particular GM is notorious for having poorly explained rules, many of which rely on knowledge of his past games, as well as not remembering his own rules and changing rules without writing it down anywhere. You pretty much have to ask other players in the thread or in Discord. That his games have insanely high player count despite all that speaks volumes to how awesome they are.I can give you a rundown of that rulesheet you linked, if you wish.
>>2624973If you're not busy, sure.Hopefully it would be enough for me to make a char and check out for myself just how awesome this GM and that game of his really is.

>>2625013>Another rival dead
>>2624749It's funny you mention that, that's literally the human system of magic in my setting for a custom pnp game. Only written though, humans were made to forgot how to speak it.I wouldn't recommend anyone putting that much effort in unless they're very sure its gonna get use, though. Making magic a language with its own conventions and rules is difficult, static or not. It has the better quarter of challenges in making an actual language while having balance considerations based within accessory developments that make sense for the setting as a whole. You can take inspiration from ancient or foreign language rules, but taking them wholesale also gives you those problems in your language, and you have to choose which bugs/features you think are best. Retranslating structural rules to be more suited to your intent and borrowing conventions to simplify into a dynamic system of magic takes a metric fuckton of no life. If someone doesn't enjoy languages or making systems in general they really shouldn't do it just for the sake of having it.There's also the actual writing part, if you want to make it so players can see the language itself and you're not just describing it, hoping they get it. It's a bigger thing in pnp, but for an imageboard if you're telling me you made a language for your magic system and the character knows what it is and you also describe the letter parts or the sounds of it you should be able to write it out and show the parts the character knows and how they think it works. That's at the least. Reasoning being, that was the monumentally great thing about the Sigil system and others like it. You could see it. After seeing enough of it, you could just photoshop up something that worked. If someone doesn't want to do all that, they can still have it in their quest. If you trust your system improvisation skills, just fucking cheat. Steal any parts of systems that work well enough together that you like and slap some symbols on its ass and go. It only has to look and feel functionally complete from the player perspective. To have depth, just make the character and players not have perfect knowledge. Done. There's also many more ways to make language based magic than there are magic systems in existence, so it's not like you're limited in path either. You just have to be a good bullshitter.
>>2625021I don't think I could've ever been considered a rival.
>>2625024Everyone is my rival memes aside what quest lad?
>>2624989Let's do this.First, some basics:-Each player controls one character-Joining the game is as simple as posting a character sheet and >deploy-Each player can make 2 acts (actions) per turn-An act could be moving, attacking, changing weapons, interacting with objects-Movement is in cardinal directions only, but attack ranges also count diagonally-There are also tap acts, which are like free actions-Taps are used to use some active abilities, reminding of passive abilities, looting and other stuff-Some actions are once-taps, which are taps that are usable once per turn-To attack, you roll 1d100. On less than 50 you deal only half damage, you can also miss altogether on a very low roll or deal more damage on a high one.-All actions are posted in greentext. It's customary to enclose skill names in [square brackets] and preface tap actions with a -dash.-Each post also contains the character's stat sheet. Since it can grow rather big, by convention people only post their full charsheet once per thread then just link to it.cont.
>>2625113Now to the explanation of pic related. Let's look at the Jaeger class:A: jaeger's base stats and the formulas for the derived stats. From the top:-HP equals VIT multiplied by the racial modifier-Damage is STR x weapon damage-Armor and magical defense = RES x def, where def is 1 + equipment bonus. Your rear armor is halved. Some items also give separate front armor.-Magical power = INT x focus bonus. Irrelevant for jaegers-Movement range = SPD / 2 + 1. All fractions round up.-SP = PER x racial mod. SP is spent on some skills.-Vision range = PER x lighting modifier (depends on time of day)B: available races and their modifiers. For example, humans get +1 movement range, while kerbolds (dogmen) get +1 STR and SPDC: starting armorD: starting weapon options. The bow has range of STR x 2 + PER and damage of PER x 2 + arrow modifier. The daggers have damage of STR x 5 + 5 and two weapon artes, which are skills tied to items. In this case [Adroit Fighting] allows you to deal damage with SPD instead of STR, and [Knife Throw] allows you to throw the dagger at range = STR. I know this only because I asked in Discord.H: full starting stats for each race, accounting for race and gear modifiers.E: jaeger gear proficiences. Better confirm these in the thread.G: class ability. You have it as long as jaeger is your main classF: class skills. You get one on start and can buy more with insight. Most have two ranks. Your class level is the number of class skills you have. You keep them even if you change classes.A minor note: Lv4 skills are actually available starting with Lv5, since you gain a level after you get a skill, not vice versa.J: how this class earns insight. Insight is your XP and each point allows you to buy a rank in class skill, or learn an arte from an item you used this mission, or learn a skill from a scroll, etc. There is another advancement currency called merits. You gain merits for notable deeds in the mission and can use it to raise stats or gain a secondary class. You can only earn 1 insight and 1 merit per game day.General notes: -Melee classes generally suck because they have to spend acts to get to the enemy. -Magic classes are OP, but have the most rules and rulings that constantly change in an effort to nerf them and are complex AF. -The easiest to level up are sworn and longcoats (just don't die), after them it's shrine maiden/keeper (just perform [Last Rites] on a corpse).-Teamwork is essential, but hard to achieve.
>>2624989There's also a new skirmish with better formatted rules: >>2625081
>>2625033Nah, you're too small time to be my rival
>>2625129>The daggers have damage of STR x 5 + 5Could you explain this bit?Damage dealt is STR * damage modifier.Daggers have x2 damage modifier per hand and +5 on top of that, so shouldn't it be STR * 2 + 5 resulting in(for humans) 4*2 +5=8+5=13 damage dealt per hand(so you attack two times, once for each hand)? What does 'pot' next to +5 actually mean?

I'm thinking about starting a quest. I haven't browsed this board much since it's creation, I mostly played around on /tg/ back in the day. But kinda wanted to get back into it since I remember always having a great time. I've settled on a few different possible topics, thought I'd see which one (if any) had any interest. I'm probably garbage since it's been so long, and even back in the day I was slow to respond since I like to write a bunch and also get distracted easily while I'm writing. ANYWAYWhich of the following quests have some appeal to you? Mage Quest - Start as a fledging talented mage and try to become a god / goddess of the arcane Fantasy Mercenary Quest - Start with a small group of friends, try to grow your merc company into a force to be reckoned with. Mass Quest - Start as a small blob of flesh and really just kinda go any way with it. Absorb other flesh to gain their flesh related abilities or just as pure mass to use for other purposes. Are any of these appealing / Over done? Like I said I've been absent for forever, probably have no business running a quest but hey, here I am.
>>2628480Mass quest, stay away from fantasy themes
>>2628483Why's that? They super overdone? Or just boring and not too interesting?
>>2628490I don't want any competition
>>2628493Heh, well, I've been out of the game for a while. I'm sure I'd only serve to make you look better by comparison.
>>2628480Mage Quest: I have an explicit love of Mages and getting gud. You got a magic system worked out for this or something?
>>2628512If I do the mage quest, the magic will be pretty touch and go. Magic is mostly elemental based. Y'know, fire, water, wind, earth, with light and dark thrown in as well. You'd be able to choose 3 of them to be at a beginner level in, or 1 of them to be specialized in. (Like, you can be pretty fucking solid with fire, but not have anything else going for ya, or can have a wide variety of weaker magics to go on) It's probably best to pick the 3 magics over the one, since it'll be more expensive to pick up new fields of magic later, but not so much so that it's unmanageable.
>>2628480Mage or Merc Quest. Why not put them together? Mass quest sounds like it would run into problems early on, most of them being "What do?". But as long as you have cute girls you should be fine.
>>2628560If Magic is going to be touch and go, but you're going to have 5 options, might I suggest not having any actual formal spells as such but instead have levels in the different elements count as die to roll against a DC? Like each level gives you another die to roll, mixing elements costs vefore rolling 1 die for simple spells and increases with difficulty. So a flame spell with 3 levels in Fire would give 3 die to roll with 1 die needing to pass the DC for a simple spell, 2 for a spell + effect, 3 for a complex effect, etc. Extra die after 3rs level could be spent to try and increase strength or duration etc.Whereas a combination spell that used say light and water to create an illusion clone would require 3 water die (summon water, shape water, manipulate water movement) and 2 light die (create light, manipulate as an image) for the spell itself but also require an extra die from either the water element or light element to represent the concentration needed to double cast elements.I would probably allow for players to "burn" extra die for the session to reroll their lowest roll to make unused levels picked earlier more useful. That way players magic investments stay relevant while providing benefit for both specialization or generalization of skills in different magical ability while allowing /qst/ format of multiple people rolling.
>>2628047The premise is good, myths and legends fighting each other, however the franchise panders too heavily to weebs.
>>2628480>I'm probably garbage since it's been so long, and even back in the day I was slow to respond since I like to write a bunch and also get distracted easily while I'm writing. Thats fine, /qst/ is a slow board>Mage questLet me guess, another quest where you start as a mage and try to become an all powerful deity.>Fantasy Mercenary QuestPlaying as a sellsword is good, remember to flesh out contractors.>Mass QuestSeems boring if we are just growing for our biological need to grow, maybe at some point we gain consciousness.
>>2628729The idea was more "attempt to cast a spell (provided it exists in a magical domain you are proficient in) Some spells are harder, some situations add difficulty, and some stuff is just outright more complex. Multi-tiered rolls isn't an idea I'd formed already, but I didn't like, have a spell list preformed or anything either. So, say you wanted to use something like a steam jet attack.roll 1 die for fire (low dc since it's only boiling the water) and 1 for water (which is the *real* dc check, since this is the directional attack where the complexity lies.) HIgher skill with water in this case can help lower the DC depending on the what you're trying to do, but I'm not going to make you roll multiple water dice unless you're trying to do several different things with one water based spell casting roll. Does that make sense? Like, a roll requiring multiple water rolls would be like "Shoot a water bullet at them, and then freeze the bullet on impact" So you'd roll once for the water shot, and once for the freezing action. Also, how do you read 5 options out of WaterFireAirEarthLightDark>>2628766>>Mass Quest>Seems boring if we are just growing for our biological need to grow, maybe at some point we gain consciousness.I didn't really specify, but you start with some low level intelligence, and ramp it up as you gain power. Depending on the direction the quest goes, I was thinking it'd wind up as you sort of being the over brain for your fleshy conquest. Slowly infesting areas and gaining new biological intelligences, allowing you to build up a host of varied minions for the domination of the modern world. You're basically right about mage quest, and the merc quest is something that would be kinda difficult for me to run, but ultimately rewarding just based on the amount of unique characters I'd have to plan in order for the ranks to swell properly. If I do that one, I'm going to try not to just fill out the ranks with >Generic archer x 40< or whatever. I want it to be more a coalition of champions who can each be off doing their own things when they need to be.

Alright /qtg/, I have a proposition for you. I have the leisure to run a quest, on which I have been ruminating about for some time. The problem is that I don't know which you guys would prefer:>"Blade Quest" set in a relatively low-magic, dark fantasy world where the main character is a sentient mystical weapon that must cooperate with it's wielder. (Or not). Unique combat mechanics have been developed and tested for this one to do it justice.>"Quarantine Quest" where the main character's fictional, modern-day hometown has suffered from a nuclear fallout. Missing the civilian evacuation has lead to being locked inside the city with the remaining denizens, which have begun to mutate. Both sounded appealing to me at least, but some feedback would help so my efforts can be focused to optimize the experience. There is still much work to be done and a consensus would be conducive to getting one of these ideas off the board and onto the table, so to speak.

>>2630470Lots of them aren't that good. People like HMQ, so they recommend it. It's why a lot of the recommended quests are the same. Can't see any others. It doesn't mean they're fellating the QM, it just means they like the work. Especially when the guy wants it to binge read.
>>2630474>Lots of them aren't that good. What did he mean by this?As an aside, I'm sure I speak for more than a few people when I get irritated that people recommend dried up old shit instead of at least fresh stinky wet shit. I swear to god, once I asked for reccs of currently running quests and people STILL recommended the same ancient quests that died around the same time as Ramses the fucking Second kicked the bucket. >>2630527It doesn't mean that I don't read them, It just means that I don't think they're as good. Easy.
>>2630537So you read them, but instead of directing people towards them so that they might get better from more feedback, you point people towards old and dead/finished things first? On a board where the key feature is player interaction, the first place to point is a place where no more interaction can be had? No development can take place, nobody discusses things really other than shilling for them?Instead of these ones that are so not as good that they can be collectively dismissed in one fell swoop, such is their mediocrity.Do I have that right? Because I suppose I can't argue with that.
>>2630569No, I just assume that anyone posting a recommendation thread is going to have looked at the things already available in the catalog. >>2630527I recommend new AND old shit though.
Quest pitch:>You're part of a privateer crew on-board a ship with your brother as the captain. >You were recruited alongside a few other ships like yours to explore a new planet found by the edge of known space - a place where a lot of ships have gone missing as of late.>Upon arriving to the planet and getting close to the surface, every single privateer ship lose all their powers and crash onto the surface.>Bruised, but alive, you intend to find your brother who was last seen disappearing down below the surface.>delve deeper and deeper into the planet.>Strapping relics and strange creatures onto your body to use as weapons to survive, gradually turning into something inhuman to find and save your brother.>Find the corpses and survivors of the other crashed privateer ships. Hey guys, new QM here, I'm running a quest. >Corporate Enforcer Quest>>2630890Take control of a newly hired "Security" Guard in a world dominated by the interests of corporations and dictated by financial bottom-lines.
>>2630892>Not least of all because there's - presumably - a logical end point in getting off-planet.If you're saying that a quest with a logical endpoint, or definite end goal, is a turn off, I don't understand.I understand the appeal of open quests, but quests with defined ends provide some promise of eventual closure or finality.Quests with no end in sight ever only promise that the quest will die when the QM tires of it, however long that takes. And when it dies, it will not truly end, just simply stop. This will leave the players unsatisfied and pining for its return or sequel.Plus, any quest that reaches the end point with plenty of gas in the tank can just change the ending, and add a new chapter.
>>2630727Good premise.Solid potential. As presented here, it seems like there's a chunk of narrative to get through before you get to the heart of it.Be mindful of that and keep the start of the journey as engaging and interactive as the quest will be or you'll turn off some players. If you start off on rails, which is understandable, hide them well.

How true is it that anons always vote for/to do/to be the nice/the "right" thing/"good" no matter the context, quest, premise, characterisation or anything else? Or at least seek "redemption" or to be some lame antihero at beast. Is there any way to avoid it? To disencourage it?Some counterexamples maybe?
>>2633870Give bonuses for being an all around douchebag to be a better douchebag. At the very least, have there be more consequences for doing the "right" thing.
>>2633870It's true of people in general, and anons are people. It's just that people's definition of "right" and "good" are really flexible.Generally, no one IRL tries to harm people just to be evil. It's always "because they deserved it", or "because I had no other choice", or "it's for their own good", or "it wasn't really harm, stop being so thin-skinned".You can't discourage it, but you can make the players turn around at the end and realize what shits they have been. At least some of them. For inspiration, read Snakecatcher.
>>2633870> How true is it that anons always vote for/to do/to be the nice/the "right" thing/"good" no matter the context, quest, premise, characterisation or anything else?False. I have seen plenty of quests where people would choose to do terrible things, they just would always try to spin it as being just. A ridiculous overreaction to a perceived slight is a common way you get evil choices in quests, especially if they think that letting something slide would make them look weak. Conversely, anons will go berserk at a perceived betrayal by an NPC, even if that betrayal was preceded by the players treating the NPC in ways far beyond what they would tolerate themselves. It's very easy for a QM to play with that double standard to manipulate anons into making extremely evil choices. All while believing that they are just, of course. It's always the fault of the NPC for not having thicker skin.Apologizing for anything is also absolutely anathema to many anons because they think it makes them look weak. No matter what is at stake, if you make the good/nice/right thing hinge on an apology, there's a good chance that the anons will refuse to choose it.
>>2633917>Apologizing for anything is also absolutely anathema to many anons because they think it makes them look weak. No matter what is at stake, if you make the good/nice/right thing hinge on an apology, there's a good chance that the anons will refuse to choose it.Valen Quest laughs at you. It laughs so hard it hurts.
>>2633870>How true is itNot very.Depends on the quest.I've seen chargen spin botb directions.>Is there any way to avoid it? To disencourage it?Don't make a "good" mc.Don't offer options that go against character.Don't faithfully obey write-ins that break character. In Peasant Lord Quest, when write-ins for dropping the girl the mc was in love with dominated, the QM didn't just cave, he reflected the internal conflict but kept the established course the mc was on and did not change the character. In chargen for a quest with a BBEG type as the mc, I asked for an action that they did it the past that would cement their character as evil. One we landed on was corrupting, destabilizing, and destroying a noble order of righteous knights because they wouldn't lend us a book we wanted to read.>Some counterexamples maybe?Actually haven't read many evil mc quests. As I recall, I'd say Reno from DC Quest counts as "not good".I can't say exactly how they discourage it, aside from sticking to the established character very well while still allowing flexibility.
>>2634087>One we landed on was corrupting, destabilizing, and destroying a noble order of righteous knights because they wouldn't lend us a book we wanted to read. What quest was this? Did it work?
>>2633870In my current quest (Dark Magical Girl quest) we've been avoiding that so far. Players chose to mentally break our former friend because of their betrayal, even when given the option to walk away after savagely beating her. Then again, I've hard blocked redemption arcs, and i'm up front about that.

As the MC moves from town to town he or she will potentially be threatened by hostile Indians, outlaw gangs, wildlife, and/or the elements. The biggest danger, however, will be if anons can avoid blowing all their money on whores, gambling, and booze in order to purchase enough equipment/bodyguards to survive their high-risk lifestyle.
>>2633935IT IS A GOOD PAIN wait not please stop oh god we didn't mean this why is this happening. And then Riz explains and it all clicks and Anons realize that they're terrible.Because any failure at all is unbearable. In reality Irue Valen is a bad ass bitch that is getting shit done, because nobody could actually be expected to fix all the things she wants to fix. Including solving two Ateliers or completing THREE testaments instead of just the one she was required to. I simply explained to that last anon that the point was that the character was a villain and a villain is defined by his villainous acts. And then I thanked him for his questions.

Alright guys, I need some help on a decision I've been thinking over. I'm working on a quest right now and I'm stuck on if I should have combat include a battle map for each scenario. Battle maps being something akin to how World Tree and others similar to it have combat. Personally think that the bonuses of the added tactical advantage and the ability to see where you're positioned within the world space really helps anons plan out combat maneuvers and attack orders. The system itself is all in the works right now but I'm leaning on something like Black Company's dice system, it being centered around d100s.

Okay, I had a thought.>Someone starts at civilization thread>an anon sees it in the catalog after it's been up for a little bit>Excited to finally get a chance to join in on one they open up the thread>they see that the race choice has already been decided even though the the thread has only been open for a short while>What's worse is that some of the anons who voted for that race never post again in the threadLet's ignore the terrible survival rate of civ threads for a minute. When civilization threads were on /tg/, it made more sense for the first of three decides the race rule. If and when I run the one I'm planning, how long is a reasonable time to wait for the players to decide the race?Would posting in the QTG that I was going to start the thread several days in advance give enough notice?Just just thinking about these things as I'm tooling my ideas around.
>>2636727The reasonable thing is to not have a race decision at all. Run something already defined so that, for one, you actually want to run it, and two, you skip the stupid preamble and actually get down to business instead of holding a ceremony where you have half the potential players fuck off while the people interested in staying wait with their thumbs in their asses.
>>2636750>one, you actually want to run itAlready handled by not even presenting races or choices I'm not interested in.>two, you skip the stupid preamble and actually get down to businessThat preamble is a big part of the initial appeal of a civ thread.Isn't it?All the different possible elements honed and defined by player input?Opening open the chocolate box and all finding out together what the creamy center is?Am I wrong?>half the potential players fuck offThe players I lose because "dwarven tundra communists" was chosen are likely to have been lost whether the thread decided it or if I had decided it from the start.>the people interested in staying wait with their thumbs in their asses. This is a valid concern.Ideally, my players would have frosty, alert thumbs.Hence my dilemma. How soon is too soon? How long is too long? How many licks does it takes to get to the center of chilled monkey brains?
>>2637048>Am I wrong?Yes and no. If the appeal in playing a civ game is the choices which surround the beginning of the game then it wouldn't be a big surprise that their average lifetime expectancy is less than a house fly. The appeal in playing in a civ game isn't the initial box of chocolate but the choices that surround playing a civilization god game, or being a leader of a group of outcast dwarfs, or the brave king of giants who struck out to find wealth with his lucky half a dozen brothers and sisters in arms. It's not exactly about the giants or the dwarfs, it's about the experience of playing the group. Like playing dwarf fortress, it's not about whether you're playing dwarfs or goblins or orcs, its the set up and the challenge in surviving and growing a civilization through technological, superior firepower, or the sheer will to survive against all odds. May it be enemies at the gates, civil unrest, or the environment trying to subdue you, it's your job to challenge them back and defeat them, or die trying. tl;dr - It's the experience and challenge of playing and managing a civilization, not the initial choice of said civilization.
>>2637381True.That's why I specified "initial appeal".It's like when you go to a strip club for the tits but come back for the damn good coffee.
>>2637462You're missing the point anon. Also that's a pretty bad analogy to civ threads. Since you can come back for coffee, you can't come back to the civ thread for that same "coffee" since it's taken the first time. You don't go to a strip club for the coffee, you go for the tits. You don't go to a Civ thread for the choice. You go for the management.
>>2637508Give me your hand, sweet child.Let me walk you through this:>Since you can come back for coffee, you can't come back to the civ thread for that same "coffee" since it's taken the first time. The "race choice" is the stripping in this analogy. The coffee is the potentially enjoyable civilization management. You can come back for that.Honest mistake, let's move on.>You don't go to a strip club for the coffee, you go for the tits. You don't go to a Civ thread for the choice. You go for the management.Again, I was talking about INITIAL appeal. The thing that gets anons in the door. The vote. The power. The choice. The control. The tits. The anons interested in managing whatever choice gets decided are the regulars who've seen the tits and just want to enjoy the coffee. You say you don't go to a strip club for coffee.I say you've been to the wrong civ threads.Because some have the best damn java this side of Juan's burro. And I've got the beans to prove it.
Civs are like a box labeled as assorted chocolates, giving you the expectation of varied fruit cream and crunchy nut centers, then when you get to opening the box they're all just malformed masses of coconut with the thinest layer of chocolate drizzled over them. >>2634452This is more of an introduction to the new series meant to establish a few core concepts and rules before the actual start. But it's a dark, high fantasy setting which aims to capture some of the more 'interesting' aspects of the medieval era.
>>2636727It makes more sense for someone to pitch a race/background combo in a general, a couple anons to show support for it, THEN a CM looks at which combos have a lot of support and decide they want to write that. But noone can be assed to keep a civ general alive(me included, I'm burned and jaded the fuck out on civs), and that does nothing to stop the slow bleedoff of players anyway, since marketing tactics are even less effective for civs than they are for quests.

>>2638311You could lewd it up in the thread all you want as long as you don't make the OP too obvious or piss someone off to spam reports. The mods are the opposite of strict with regards to enforcement. Just look at Fuck Quest.
>>2638317>You could lewd it up in the thread all you want as long as you don't make the OP too obvious or piss someone off to spam reports. This, I wrote about some poor under-aged girl getting buggered.
>>2638294On the one hand, I like priests/monks even less than wizards but I have to admit your setting seems pretty decent even though I'm a low/no fantasy kind of guy.Fighters and rogues don't get enough love on here. Duelist especially, I don't know that I even remember a quest with a duelist as the MC.
>>2638353Just give it a second.Read the next thread when the story actually begins. The graveguard is just the tutorial dude. He's not the MCThen you'll have a better idea whether you'll like it or not.
>>2638317I think the issue with mine compared to Fuckquest is that it would be almost entirely comprised of surprise sex and I know a lot of people tend not to like that. It's also quite the departure from my completely normal mostly non-lewd writings because I wanted to do something very different that I was inspired to do. How about I post my (no doubt controversial) idea for a lewd game quest and feel free to shit on me/it.There is a greenskin (of various types) invasion from the mountains of a kingdom's northern frontier, said kingdom moves a hurriedly assembled force to face it. The readers control what actions the greenskin army take throughout the campaign via poll. The game will have various rules I'm still mulling over, such as who or what to target for attack with what each "turn." Armies will have set numbers that increase or decrease in various ways until one side reaches zero. There will be passive cards that provide various bonuses to either side depending on who controls them. Plus more. Here's the kicker: The greenskins were created to be a male-only race and therefore must take the females of other races to breed and increase their numbers, so one of their main objectives and main focus of the quest other than defeating the enemy armies is to capture slaves. They also have a very fast gestation period of only a month and grow to be a full-sized adult in a year. With a dark relic the orc warlord found this period is reduced further to only a month during the campaign, thus every two turns (a month) the number of greenskins increase based on the number of slaves they have. All this capturing and "number increasing" will be written in detail each time.I'm planning to keep it short and simple for the first attempt and I also want defeat to actually be possible.I'm perfectly fine with pastebinning the lewd parts, but if I have to do it on a (shitty) dead board like /trash/ I don't think I'd bother, there's just not enough people there for that to be fun. I don't know how strong the possible drama would be from attempting this would be either, which would likely draw moderator ire, I won't try if people think it's too unpleasant to be here either.

>>2638369I should also mention that this is war, so men will just straight up get killed a lot, though I won't be detailing that too deeply.
>>2638369What you're trying to do is in essence mix a civ game with a rape sim. Trust me, it'll get old really fast. There's someone who could pull it off extremely well (MZion) but for everyone else it'll disintigrate into mindless grind (hyuk, hyuk, hyuk!) within 3 threads. In other words: The idea is fundamentally unsuited for this medium.>>2638317>>2638311FQ's licentious updates got Oxicleaned several times, actually.>>2638181How would you define dark fantasy? What about high fantasy?
>>2638369>Orc rape questThat's some bargin bin trash right there man and it seems like you're making the smut the main selling point. My advice is to go jerk off then revise your premise. A less horny head might help here.
>>2638454You do realize jerking off kills motivation not just the sex drive right?
>>2638439It's less civ and more just basic numbers and cards, nothing too fancy, there's not going to be base-building or anything like that. I plan to keep it simple and short. For example: Farmland card, replenishes X number losses for allied forces every turn. Players can use a turn to burn it to the ground and negate the effects (and acquire a few farmers wives and daughters in the process).I want to give it a try anyway, worst that happens is it will fail. My main concern is if it does work out and then a mod comes along and deletes it it will definitely be a big waste of time.
>>2638468They probably will.>>2638459That's the joek.
>>2638454The smut one is the main selling points. The idea started off as just a simple story I was writing but while reading quests and certain doujins I thought it would be something different and interesting to try.
>>2638501Trust me. It isn't different or interesting. But you do you.
>>2638439Oh boy...I'll do the easier one first>High FantasyFor me at least it's a setting where magick is abundant, where mages and magick users are not a rarity but relatively commonplace. It also has a wide variety of fantastical races like goblins, kobolds etc. in it.It's also the setting where one can get creative.So...Low fantasy = Game of ThronesHigh Fantasy = D&DNow...>Dark fantasyNow please keep in mind I'm not talking about full grimdark.So...Dark fantasy is the one that doesn't pull any punches.Almost anything goes.Over all I'm aiming for a slightly less dark Berserk.

Hey /qst/anon's, got a question for you. Just spent 3.5 weeks innawoods learning how boat in all kinds of conditions with no internet and spreading 1.2Gb of phone data over 14 days. Returning back to civilisation in 4 days, and I was debating on if I should restart 'Into The Wilderness Quest', even though thread 2 vanished into the mists, or to kick off a new quest about being in a mid fantasy trade caravan? I've saved my posts from the first quest' s missing second thread like an obsessive hoarder and can re-upload them into a pastebin when I'm back home, but is it worth the effort?>inb4 Why aren't you updating now shitbird? To get this connection, which is roughly one step above dial-up, I had to walk 3km to a bar. I don't feel like trying to update via phone, with no decent spell-checking, while getting increasingly hammered.

>>2637613You fucking retarded or are you trying to be this stupid? The thing that gets anons in the door isn't the initial choice. It's the management. You can argue all you want but you're still wrong if you think the only reason anons go into a civ thread is to choose a race and be like "oh boy I love choosing a race because that's the most enjoyable form of pure fucking ecstasy." and then when they found out they stumbled into something that doesn't involve a single fucking choice. Unless you're a complete fucking dunce you will understand that the "Initial appeal" isn't some throwaway choice to waste time voting on something because you're too fucking lazy to choose it yourself. So that said let's address your fuck ass argument.>The "race choice" is the stripping in this analogy.Oh yeah, the choice is the main appeal to playing a fucking civ game, not the management. That itself is the reason of your flawed logic when understanding why anyone plays a civ game. If the Tits were indeed just the fucking race choice then no one would fucking play Civ games past the first three votes. Considering the catalouge it looks like you're probably the person who keeps spamming civ threads for no reason other than that "initial appeal" you're so fucking fond of.>INITIAL appeal. Anything else anon? is that you're entire slob of a fucking argument is that "muh initial appeal iz a fukin single choise">I say you've been to the wrong civ threads.Seems to me you've never even played a civ thread in your life much less understand why anyone even goes into one. >>2643377AyyYeah the quest kind of slowed down after that, I tried to reel it back in and get back to the good stuff but at that point it was just a bit difficult to get information out. I've been rethinking how the whole thing should go, and sometime soon I'm going to start it fresh with a new idea. I'm putting together a complete (ish) dictionary for the language, and have been building a font as well.Gembutts is actually almost ready to come back, I needed to take a break to rediscover what it was about the series that initially brought on so much inspiration, it seemed like it would've been unfair to let it keep going until any creative merit it had was drained. My guess is around a week and a half or two weeks, just to let this quarter of school finish up and to sync up with the monthly serializations again.Sorry you got lost in the crowd, I've tried to let as many people know about what was going on with both as I could, but I had wrongfully assumed the readership to be limited to a couple discord servers I was in.Pic related is a preview of the font, it's coming along quite well although I'm still learning how to put together ligatures. So now I have to lead humanity to a new era of prosperity and yadda yadda need to break some eggs to do an omelett"She doesn't even properly have an army, the KINGDOM OF AVALON as an army, she is just the superhuman that gives them wise advice and SUPER-TECHNOLOGY, why the hell would they give up on her because of what she may have done in the war? Is that going to fix something? Okay, she might be a fanatic who just wants to keep forcing her head against a wall until it breaks... But lets be honest here, the greenman are all dead, they utterly failed, and humanity never even got exactly why they did what they did, they just assumed that they done that "because of evulz and stuff"... They probably just wanted to force humanity into a new era of perfection and yadda yadda, and now there is no hope, the galaxy was broken to pieces and they just had to face their doom of their values. Is it possible for the LAST greenman alive to be a spoilered bitch who doesn't learns from her mistakes and still thinks she can force humanity into things? Yes. Is it the probable reaction of a SUPERHUMAN MIND WITH EONS OF LEARNING AND EXPERIENCE? No....Also, we just need to kill her, pink haired bitch and maybe a third of the paladins and the war would be over. Unless the SSL just wants to keep fighting them to have an excuse for people to join their new CUSS.
>>2650442No they wanted to kill humanity because they kept fucking up the environment and if left alone would keep fucking up everything until no world was left habitable.
>>2648927>>2648956>being turned off by a female lead and not the fact that it's fanfiction
>>2650515Its SRW it can be literally anything as long as he ties together all the pilots.
Hey guys, skirmishes are starting to open up again. Everwinter company, Gyrocite, and world tree! Come join and fight goblins or hijack a train! :D
>>2650482Who said that? The Jovians? That one mad guy in Quil'r? We know they were hellbent who cleasing humanity, but in no moment we got confirmation that they wanted to kill EVERYONE. Thye even have cultists and stuff, those guys were probably the one they were keeping for "the new era" or something. But it still doesn't defeat my point, we have no evidences that GL is still following the plan.
>>2650601Yeah those cultists looked great didn't they, can't see why anybody wouldn't want to driven mad by fungus growing in them.
>>2650606Yeah, all those cultists that we have never seen looked great.Man, you're just changing the goalpost. What the cultists looked like, felt, planned, did, or ended like doesn't even matter to the disscussion. I was never saying that the greenman were right, heck, nobody was right, the martians killed EVERYONE to just avoid the infection spreading, no matter if they were sure about them being infected or not.The thing I'm asking is, is it probable that the Lady still plans to continue with the old plan? after the huge failure it was? While being a superhuman with an inteligence far ahead from us?But are you worried about what she will actually do or with revenge? If we are after revenge and punishment then we should begin here in the solar system, I'm sure there are still plenty of people around who killed huge amounts of innocents for tactical advantage.Oh, but wait, now they're very important people that contribute heavily to current level of civilization, aren't they?... Are the solars any different from the avalonians?
>>2650668Very. The solars haven't been living on a planet with a Greenman that they constantly visit and tours around the planet. Whoses to say she could have spored the entire damn planet.
>Quest has plot holes and inconsistencies in loreIs this a dealbreaker or is it acceptable because of the haphazard nature of these things?
>>2650674The martians have fucking hakim around, whoses to say he could have planted bombs on the entire damn planet, JUST IN CASE he needs to explode some - or all - of them.
>>2650675It is frustrating, but I wouldn't drop a quest over it. The QM should have a main idea of where the plot is headed, have important lore and characters planned ahead of time.Failing that, if the QM is simply winging everything, it's still up to them to go through their thread after the session and compile relevant information/characters, and piece together or plan out possible paths. It sounds autistic, but it can help keep things consistent.
>>2650675Just patch the holes with bullshit anon.
I've been thinking of doing a Raccoon City Quest since the remake of Resident Evil 2 was announced. Would start in game time-wise (and these are the canon dates due to information found in the games) on September 27th, When the third Resident Evil game starts and end on the 30th when Leon, Claire, and Sherry flee the city. The PC though will not encounter the characters from the games since I'd like it to stand alone. You might find your self in an area where they have been or just missed them by a couple of minutes.
>>2638253>civ general is impossibleWe do have a Civ discord though. I suggest you join it https://discord.gg/6pSRdJz
>>2650738>it's another "hey I'm excited about this thing, I should make a quest about it" quest
>>2647931Hive Queen Quest was great, until QD went quiet. Death Among the Stars has been pretty good as well, though it’s slowed down a lot at this point.
>>2650869>>2650869Valkyria Chronicles Pacific Theatre is back after a respite. The promised battleship heist is well under way.
>>2650675>Quest has plot holes and inconsistencies in loreThis is rarely a problem for me as a player or a QM.1st: Make certain the QM is aware of it.Sometimes they use the wrong proper name, cite the wrong fact, or just plain forget something and it can fixed with a quick "Oh, I meant X not Y."QMs are human and there is no edit function.2nd: Any QM, or GM, worth their salt can respond to a major inconsistency being pointed out by replying something like ”That does seem odd, doesn't it?" or "What do you think that could mean?”Inconsistencies remain mysteries until confirmed mistakes.3rd: Not every apparent error is really an inconsistency.Professor Snape seemed to behave inconsistently until you learn the full truth.4th: If the QM does screw up, they can always spin a narrative to explain it all.
>>2651201This one has the right of it.
>>2650675It's fine, geez. There was one plot hole/inconsistency that I found that was simply met with: Oh. huh. Let's just retcon that. AND IT'S TOTALLY FINE.Trying too hard to explain away as some super twist can cripple the original plan you had going forward, no shame in admitting a mistake or two on your way to the current flow.
>>2648743Super Robot Wars Quest, resuming.
>>2650675a wizard did it
>>2651393ThisNobody's quest is perfect. The mixing up of proper names I mentioned was from the first thread of a solid, well done quest I checked out once. They're still going strong to my knowledge.Fear of making mistakes won't prevent making mistakes. Nothing will.Fear of screwing up your quest won't prevent screwing up your quest in some way. Nothing will.Accept failure as part of the process, just as most players do.Will some asshole players expect perfection anyway? Maybe, but they're assholes. Who gives a shit? Will some players make fun of you for fucking up? This is 4chan. You bet your ass they will. And that's fine.
>>2651730A New Mutant Quest has updated.
>>2651540Yeah, I've fucked up a few times. Still trying to place the chronology of the past.

Question for everyone:Firstly, would a quest where you are the GM of a TTRPG (abstractly DND, etc) group interest anyone? Meaning, You the players have to make sure that the session goes well both narratively as well as monitoring the enjoyment levels of the players and their PCs.And secondly, how would you as a player want to interact with/guide this sort of quest?
>>2653567>>2653567>>2653567The heat goes on. Some dark fantasy fun.
>>2653489I wouldn't think so, but that QM Quest was fun.
>>2653847Who is this post meant to be directed to? The guys who don't like Femc?Is it a reply to the wrong thread?I don't see anyone here stating there's a conspiracy to make traditional games politically correct.

Let this be our final battle for the age old question...https://strawpoll.com/pye5he32Fem Mc or male Mc?
>>2654097Where is the 'It doesn't fucking matter as long as they are a good character' option?
>>2654105That's called not voting
>>2654105>>2654113To easy, what's the point of even having a poll if we're all going to be reasonable people?
>>2654097*if you don't vote in this poll your favourite QM will drop his quest without saying anything and never return tonight
What are some good mecha quests? I just tried reading space pirate but it starts so slow and uninteresting that I gave up.
>>2654097Femc = waifu trashDebate me.
>>2654693Male Mc == harem quest
>>2654693Only if it you want it to be.
I am having trouble deciding on a time period for a harry potter quest, I want it to be set on the early 20th century but there isn't a lot going on in terms of enemies and stuff like that.I dunno, what do you anons think?
>>2654693If your reasoning is that any femc is going to be waifued, and will therefore become waifu trash, I would argue that if anons are that consistent with their desperate waifuing, those same anons will waifu anything.Given the utter absence of females to waifu, they will waifu a Hot Pocket, a sword, or an ideology. If you are suggesting that it is impossible to imagine a female protagonist without her being intended as a waifu, I think you're on the wrong board.
>>2654828I think if you can't find or make enemies, you haven't been on 4chan long enough.
>>2654878I am trying to keep it as lore friendly as possible
>>2654828You know (((who))) must must be defeated.>>2654886Also fuck the lore, we alt history now.
>>2654888hmmm... welp fuck it.Also this quest is not gonna be ''wow a chocolate frog! Oh! its a alive! wow!" Its gonna be dark and fuck magic, we smith & wesson
>>2654828Just make something up. Not every fight against an evil wizard was big enough to hit the history books, and even if you wanted to do something big you can just do what every other fanfic writer does and make canon your bitch.
>>2654886If you want to make a lore-friendly story with enemies in a setting without a lot of enemies, then you need to make the story small-scale.Not every conflict needs to hang the magical world in the balance. All you really need is one rogue wizard managing to avoid the authorities for your main characters to encounter. That's a small blip in the settings lore, all things considered.
>>2654916>>2654912the thing is the mc would be evil in this case, he hates wizards which is explained either early on or later on.
>>2654928He hates Wizards.Who could possibly be his enemies?Maybe, I don't know, all wizards?
>>2654947fair point, I meant as specific character but nevermind I just need to write some notes now
>>2654961Just make him a wizard that hates (((wizards)))
>>2654961Maybe the enemy is a specific wizard who sparked this hatred of wizardkind. Maybe the MC has already done some stuff against the wizards and the enemy is an auror or some shit who was sent to track him down. You have a decent starting point. All you need to do is build.
>>2654967>>2654976well I am giving it a twist, he is a muggle that realizes the existence of wizards and manages to avoid getting mind wiped
>>2654992a wizard that just hates other wizards just dont have enough edge but enough said I need to write a lot
>>2654996How about:"I died and was resurrected as the dark lord Voldemort who has regenerated himself again and is secretly enrolled in hogwarts in order to murder harry potters granddaughter but she is actually really cute and a bully???"send me the royalties when it gets made into a movie

i have so many drawquest ideas but i feel like im too incompetent to start any of them and do them any justice
>>2655652>i feel like im too incompetent to start any of themStart them anyways.
>>2655475First chapter of Meldric Adventurers Quest starting here.GraveQMs new quest while Death Among the Stars Quest is on a short hiatus.
>>2655652Remember; it's impossible to disappoint anyone so long as you never try. Just stop before you've become anything to anybody and you're technically a net good, see? Keep up the good work anon!
>>2655652Start it faget, that's what I did.
>>2654693Just because a character flirts with the MC, doesn't mean the MC has to date them. Especially as a female, when realistically they have the power to turn down suitors. Sure, men choose to ask a woman out, but ultimately the woman is the one who accepts or turns him down. Use that power, turn down the husbando, and get shit done in a cool manner like a proper protag.
>>2655652Are you me? I have a bunch of concepts swarming around my mind, and no time to really outline any of them.
>>2656061Take all your ideas and smuush them together.
>>2655559Literally what it says on the tin.A drawquest following an mc that's a QM struggling to make a successful quest. It was meta-licious!
