After defeating Bradford in a children's card game and the strange detective entered the frame to ask some questions to Constance, a fat-looking cat floated inside the room and left a letter in front of all of you.“The cat informant knows Constance’s new location? Damn. This place isn’t safe either.” The detective is worried.“He has a letter.” Constance points to it like you didn't notice it.“Meow.” The cat nods, like you guys are catching his drift.“…I’ll go get it.” You take the initiative, walking up while the cat watches. It’s a little wet for obvious reasons, but it’s addressed to Constance with no addressee. “It’s for Constance.” You had the need to say it.“Really?” Constance seems a little excited. It's not every day a sick child gets 'fan mail'.“Neko most likely knows Constance’s role, so maybe she wants to know something related to the war?” Bradford's sharpness is slowly disappearing.“I have my doubts.” You tell Bradford as you continue to examine the letter from the outside. The obese cat is jumping next to you, surprisingly high for his weight. He probably wants you to give the card to Constance. What do you do?>Read the letter out loud.>Give the letter to Constance, it's hers after all.>Throw it outside.>Write In.

>>2615086>Ask the cat if what it brought is safe. We don't need a car fucking with our crew, and it seems to understand us. Then we glance over the letter real quick before giving it to Constance to read.
You stare at the cat who is still jumping beside you. After he catches up with your indication of communication, he stops.“Is it safe?” You wave the letter.“Meow.” The ‘it-should-be-a-Jazz-singer’ cat meows. Probably means okay.“You sure?”“Meow.”“…I’m going to check it anyway.” You press the letter everywhere expecting something that ain’t paper.“You talk to cats?” Constance seems impressed.“No. But imagine that, talking to cats as a superpower – sounds lamer than controlling them completely.” You respond to Constance, feeling that the letter is secure. “I’ll read it out loud.” You open it up.“Meow! Meow!” The fat cat seems furious. The letter says…“Call me in my dreams, I sleep during the day. If you can’t, call my number instead.” The number is listed down below. “It’s important.”“Straight to the point, but that doesn’t give us enough information” Bradford responds.“Mmm…” Constance seems conflicted.“You don’t need to be in my field of work to understand this is dangerous.” The detective tells Constance, and she lightly nods, understanding what is going on.“But we can’t hurt each other there. Totally safe!” You remember her jumping up and down like a mad girl in the background, when you were talking to Athelone that one time.“Meow! Meow!” The cat is relentlessly pushing your leg, wanting you to give Constance the letter. It seems the cat doesn’t have a major understanding of what’s going on, only caring that you're still holding the letter.“I gave her the message, calm down.” You explain to the cat for some reason.“Meow…” Cat appears to be in deep thought.“So what are we waiting for? Call her, Constance.” Bradford says blithely. “We're here if anything goes wrong.”“The secret informant must be quite desperate to risk her anonymity in a bold move like this. I still expect this to be dangerous. She must know something and it’s luring us into a trap.” The detective chimes in. He’s somewhat right, but still – nobody knows for certain how this type of stuff works. Now what? >Ignore her letter. “Constance, is there a way I can go with you to the meeting?” You ask the mummy girl, having an idea.“Lowering the risk by going with her, marvelous!” Bradford says, very into your idea.“I think so…” Constance is unsure. “Athelone says yes, there's a way!”“Then what are we waiting for?” You approach her to work her black magic on you.“Hold on, I’ll come too.” Detective Wright doesn’t want you to be the only star of the show! “I need to make sure she’s safe.” “Don’t worry, I got this.” You reply back evenly.“So if we’re doing this, I'd like to go too if it isn’t much trouble.” Bradford also wants a piece of the action. He stares at the volleyball-head, who seems rather nervous at all the attention. “I want to peek into that world again…” Again…?“Uhm… Athelone says I’m going to end up spending more energy than necessary if I bring everyone along.”“Your health is our most important priority here.” Richard affirms.“Guys, listen to me, we should…” You tell the group; it's up to you to decide what to do, so...What should you do?>Go alone! “…probably take Mr. Detective for the trip too, and Bradford should stay and wake us up if anything bad happens out here.”“Good.” The detective seems ready.“How do I know if something is going wrong?” Bradford wonders.“Use your instincts. That, or it'll probably be really obvious, like us writhing in pain or something.” You reply flippantly. That worked for you in the very beginning of all this.“Don’t worry, I’ll have everything under control.” Constance smiles, a ray of hope. “Now…” Constance invokes Athelone yet again! She looks at each individual member.“Hey Athelone, sorry about what happened with you-know-who.” The Rise incident.“Mmm? Your kind heart tricked you once. Don’t let it happen again, but I already told you it wasn’t a misguided effort. We both made mistakes then.” Athelone replies to your concerns affably. You see the detective watching Athelone intently as she speaks. “Alright… I still feel bad about it though.”“You know about the only thing I care about.” She pats Constance on the head, making her smile wider. “You know what to do to amend your mistake. Now, gentlemen, I need you to grab Constance’s hands.”You two sit next to her, one on each side, Bradford sitting across from the three of you. Oh, and the fat cat is curled up asleep next to Bradford's chair, probably content from doing his job. Or he's just lazy, who knows?Constance grabs your hand with no major trouble, but doesn’t seem so sure about grabbing Richard’s.“I’m here to help you.” Richard says to Constance in a warm voice you didn't expect from him. Constance looks at him then turns to you, and you nod at her. Then she stares at Athelone.“You were the one who said to trust Johnny, remember?” Athelone creepily smiles to Constance. The little girl finally grabs the detective’s hand. And as sudden as always, your mind traverses the realm of reality to the one of… you’re still not sure what this place is supposed to be. You six find yourselves in a strange looking room, like some type of black-walled waiting room with two doors – inspired by the clinic? – and a strange-looking electronic panel on the wall.“Uhm, it’s going to take a bit before we find the girl with the cats.” Constance says, sitting at a nearby chair and swinging her legs.“Enjoy the place my little princess built for everyone, now that she has some energy to spend.” Athelone jokes as she plays with the wall panel, which starts to glow blue and displays changing symbols you can't make sense of.[1/3]
>>2616464Now that you look around, you see the detective standing next to his floating partner. It appears made out of scrap metal, a broken TV in a weird style, giant floating white flames with pale blue tints, a weird blue and purple mask, and a yellow traffic cone. It's all floating together in a humanoid shape, almost like its wearing a suit and a tie to boot!“So that’s your partner… Certainly looks stylish enough. I can see a certain resemblance to you, but I can't quite place it.” The detective checks out Philonune's true form with some admiration.“Yeah, his name is—” You try to say, but Philonune interrupts you.“You don’t need to know that, young man. It’s meaningless information for you.” Philonune replies. He sounds happy to get the attention, smiling as he always does.“Good on you. I thought all fallen angels were chronic egomaniacs.” Richard’s partner says icily, moving its floating parts to approximate folding its arms.“You can talk all by yourself? I thought you needed your 'dear Creator’s' permission to show any free will. Perhaps he's become almost as benevolent as you predicted, Yomiel. Shame it had to happen after I ditched the others.” Philonune responds back, voice dripping with sarcasm. His usual smile becomes the other usual smirk.“He was benevolent, no doubt – to put half a brain inside your hollow head, you heathen. Or should I say 'Philonune'. I bet you thought yourself clever, struggling to come up with that anagram. Real original.” Yomiel replies in such a deadpan that you're feeling irritated too!“As much as you struggled to pack a punch all those millennia ago, you hair-brained toaster!” Philonune loses his cool, frowning. Hey, he remembered what a toaster was!“Better a machine than an idiot blinded by one's glaring ego, enough to fall right out of our heaven!” They are at each other’s throats, holy shit!“You two stop this! I can’t concentrate with your bickering!” Athelone intervenes like an angry mother, yelling from her wall console. This shuts them up, but they don't move away from each other. You look over to Richard, who moves his hand from his forehead, revealing a disgruntled expression that just screams 'the shit I put up with'. “…I guess our partners have history. Sorry about that.” Richard apologizes. He looks like an apologetic teenager now, and not an ace detective that put the entire police force and cult to shame.“It’s fine...” You don’t know what to say.[2/3]
>>2616468“We found her.” Athelone says, pointing at one of the doors in the room. “Once we step out of this place, we will be able to reach her. Ready?”The six of you walk out of the room into a black void, Athelone first, and see a lanky-looking blonde girl with wild hair, glasses, and a plain hoodie. A strange-looking horned humanoid is by her side, with a mask that has lines that look like whiskers on it, and shoulderpads that have eyes on them. The girl turns and sees your group of uninvited guests, taking a step back in shock. "How…? Richard Wright?!" He just stares back coldly.“Wait!” The little creature next to her says, zooming up to you rapidly, catching you off guard! You’re face to face with it! It points at you accusingly, a clawed finger inches away from one of your eyes. “YOU! I remember your face! A face so forgettable, it becomes unmistakable!”“Shut up! We’re calling this off!” The girl yells, waving her partner over while glaring at Athelone and Constance.“But…!” The weird creature doesn’t seem happy, floating back a few inches. Philonune grabs him by the neck, pulling him away from you into a headlock. “N-ngh…!”What’s even happening?!>“Relax! We come in peace, or something…!” Reason with this crazy girl. She looks like an absolute shut-in, which is kinda what you expected, but still!>“Well, bye bye, then.” Wave them off and walk back to where the door was. “Just start talking. We’re only here to protect Constance. Whatever you have to say, spit it out.” You take position near Constance. This is the reason you’re here!“Frick off!“ T.T. Neko isn’t friendly at all! She hides her face deeper in her hoodie. It’s worth mentioning she talks extremely fast.“Please… stop… choking… me…” Her entity begs for mercy. Philonune looks at you, and you shrug back, causing Philo to free him.“Also I don’t remember you at all, and I most likely won’t after this meeting is over.” You tell the strange looking creature as bluntly as possible.“You obnoxious child!” The creature snaps out as he jumps on you, only to be trapped once again in another Philonune headlock. Athelone facepalms.“…Should I call this off?” Constance asks you. Athelone looks at you and nods dismissively.“Neko, I would advise you to continue this meeting.” The detective is the one talking now. “You already lost too much to return empty-handed.”“…?” She stares at Richard in confusion.“We already know your face, just from being here.” Richard does a hand motion on his face.“S-so what? I've know yours too, for a long time now.” She isn’t impressed at all.“Knowing your true identity and how you operate, it won’t take me longer than a day to find you. My track record and cases I've solved speak for themselves.” Richard responds, thumb on his chest, and you see him smirking in pride.“So does letting your family members die. Not. Impressed. At. All.” Neko responds with disdain. The way she talks makes you feel anxious, as if the hairs on your neck are standing on end.“…” The detective seems lost for words, but you see an intense look of anger on his face.“I don’t need this from you. I know what I needed now. Peace out.” She starts walking away, and suddenly her head collides with an invisible wall. Gotta hate those. “Ack…!”“Uhm… Sorry, you can’t really get away, miss.” Constance says in a monotone voice.“We’re the ones controlling the situation here. I would strongly suggest you follow Mr. Detective’s advice, and continue with our meeting as planned. You don’t really want to anger a judge, hmm?“Ack, ack, ack, ack.” Her teeth sound like they're doing multiple biting motions, clacking repeatedly. “Don’t care. Let me out.” She sits on the floor and puts a hand on the invisible wall in front of her, almost pawing it.

“What else could we do in the meantime?” You ask the detective for another option. There must be something useful you can do inside the clinic without leaving it, right?“Without a computer, not much.” The detective says, shrugging. “I’ve been tracking her for a while now, and I think I know a few spots where she could be hiding.”“I’ll lend you my laptop as a reward for being such nice boys.” Nurse Calamity says, then promptly leaves to find it.“Why not use our phones?” Bradford questions the technology you're going with here.“I… type faster with a keyboard.” Richard says with a little shame, but for some reason, you feel like it's a joke.“I can’t type on a phone either!” Constance says all energetically, so much cheerful now that she feels fine.“I have another idea…” You stare intently at the cat in Bradford’s arms. Seems like the cat took a liking to the fat man.“Meow?” The bass-pitched cat seems to notice your attention.“Maybe we can bribe the cat to help us.” You say as seriously as possible.“How are you supposed to bribe a cat?” Constance is confused.“Maybe he has food he likes. Fish?"“Hey little kitty!” Bradford says to the animal. The cat is way too fat to be called a kitty! “Do you want more tuna?” The cat meows loudly at this.“What do you mean more…?” Richard is getting confused as much as you are.“Yeah, I have two cans on me – just in case. I keep them next to my special deck.” Bradford pulls out a tuna can.“What the hell?” You're completely dumbfounded at this. Even Philonune's eye sockets widen at this.“But even if we bribe the cat, how can he help us? It’s not like he can tell us where her base is.” Bradford changes subjects rapidly.“Leave that to me.” Richard says, looking a lot less depressed than he did before. “I just need the cat to go back to the others.”“Meow?” The cat seems confused, but he doesn’t take his eyes off the tuna can.“Hehe, he wants some tuna!” Constance states the obvious. We attach it to the cat, and he'll show us the way.” He briefly explains as he holds up the small machine. “What if the camera falls off or if the cat gets hit by a car?” You ask the ‘brilliant’ detective with skepticism.“Meow…?” The cat reacts all nervously to your final line. Apparently its smart enough to understand what 'car' means.“Cat was competent enough to get here and find this room from the outside, so getting run over is not an issue. And we’re bribing the cat to not let the camera go.” The detective stops abruptly for a second. “…That sounded way better in my head, now that I think about it.” He realizes you are betting on a cat to do a sneaky mission. A cat who was also working for the enemy.“…Maybe we could research a bit more using the computer? If we use the camera, it'll only tip her off if it gets spotted. I work better with silence.” He starts walking to the door. You get up, remembering something just in time. “Wait, one last thing! If my informant was correct, a bunch of those cats are near where the original clinic was. Maybe that can help you narrow down your options.” Hopefully Matilda is right, and T.T. Neko is far closer than you thought – but that just raises more questions if true…!“Duly noted. I’ll see you soon.” The detective leaves with Calamity’s laptop. You’re left alone with the cat, Constance, and Bradford.“Aww… No fun cat mission for us…” Constance says all disappointed.“Well, it really isn't time for tactical espionage anyhow.” Bradford is 'subtly' implying its time for lunch. “Time to get a delicious meal from the clinic kitchen. I’ll catch up with you later.” Bradford leaves the room with the cat too. Even though the cat is a spy, you feel oddly okay with Bradford managing it.Now you’re only left with Constance.“I’m feeling sleepy…” Constance looks like she’s going to doze off at any moment, probably from the power drain of keeping up that void room you were in. Better to leave her be.It's midday, and there's still a while to go before nighttime. What now?>Call Craig! Maybe he can take you home and have that oh-so-important chat about Nariko and Yu Yan…?>Walk around the clinic and get a feel for the layout of the place. Scouting a new location is important, search for any areas possible hostiles can get to.
After tucking Constance into the bed and wishing her a good nap, you leave the room! You decided to walk around the clinic and get a feel for the layout of the place. Perhaps something interesting could happen…Like previously mentioned before, the clinic has this weird aura of a mental asylum. Its four stories tall, with each floor denoting more trauma – the further away you are from the first floor, the worse your condition. You think this is bad planning because wouldn't the most critical people be put closest to where the doctors are? But hey, you’re no expert in medical management.1st floor is the entrance, reception area and lobby, kitchen, and offices.2nd floor is where Constance and Bradford have their rooms.3rd floor is where you and Trent have your rooms. And finally on the final floor is where Dr. Calamity is. It’s worth noting that now they have an elevator! You can't imagine how hard it would be, to carry delicate and heavy medical equipment up multiple flights of stairs…Unlike anyone else, Constance seems to have a special room all to herself, since it seems Bradford is sharing his room with other patients. You have no idea how the hell they already have new patients here! You thought the Calamitys had some type of town practitioners over, or something. Remember the good old days when it was only you, Dr. Calamity, Constance, and whoever you beat the shit out of? Good times…You’re at the reception area, not doing anything of note, just chilling on the couch watching everyone move around you while you toy with your phone. Suddenly someone comes out of the elevator! It’s an old man, with a terrifying cold gaze, and a dangerous demeanor akin to a mafia boss! But there is something about him that feels familiar, yet completely unknown to you. Nurse Calamity was with him; she waves him off as the elevator’s doors close with her inside. He only nods back. For some reason, this man is walking towards you. He's not hobbling, or walking slowly, or in any hindered way. He's striding towards you effortlessly, with an assuredness and obvious inner strength you never expected from his appearance!“Young man, could you please tell me the time?” He says very respectfully in an aged voice, but when he speaks, you can't help but pay attention. A sort of magnetic quality to it you can't place. How do you respond?>Only tell him the time.>Tell him the time, and ask if he feels alright.>Tell him the time, and ask him who he is.>Refuse gently.>Write In.
>>2621699>Tell him the time, and ask him who he is.
>>2621699>Tell him the time, and ask him who he is.>Do you know Matilda?
>>2621699>>Only tell him the time.
“It’s… 2:09 PM, sir.” You check it on your phone.“Thank you. I’m not good with modern technology, and my watch broke.” He responds in a calm tone, having accepted it for what it is. “It seems I still have some time to spare.” He talks to himself while touching his incredible beard.“Can I ask you a question sir?” You're asking him a question already, but semantics don't matter…“Hmm…?” He raises one of his eyebrows; at least he isn’t the dad-joke type…“Who are you?”“A broken old man.” He says as he looks at his hands. He doesn’t look in bad shape at all.“You look awfully good for being broken, sir.”“Sadly I can’t say the same. You feeling alright yourself, young man?” He stares at your bandages, looking over your injuries.“Uh, these? These are nothing.” They were something before though. God bless Constance.“You sure don’t look like it, but you act tough.” That blunt honesty, its starting to strongly remind you of a certain someone…“You are in school, right boy?” He sits next to you. Seems he really has some time to spare...“Yes.”“What school?” What a dry old man.“Green Foothill.”“Hah! Good choice.” He actually grins! You didn’t notice before, but he has a pin with the school’s symbol on his robe. “I have granddaughter studying there.”“Is her name Matilda?” You get straight to the point, saying aloud what you were thinking. The little carefreeness he had immediately disappears.“You know her?”A murderous aura emanates from him! W-what do you do?!>“No…?”>“So I’m right?”>"So what if I do?">"Yeah, I can see the resemblance.">“Yeah, we’re business partners.”>“Yeah, we’re friends.”>Write In.
>>2621888>“Yeah, we’re lovers friends.”
>>2621888>>“Yeah, we’re friends.”
>>2621888>>“Yeah, we’re friends and frequently do business with each other.”
“Yeah… We’re friends.” You think so, at least.“Friends…?” He now seems rather confused. At least his murderous aura is gone…“Yeah, like the type that studies together and… stuff.” Have you ever done anything friendly with Matilda, anything that isn't related to business? You studied together with the others once, but that’s about it.“What’s your name, young man?”“Johnny…”“Matilda’s friend…” He closes his eyes in deep reflection.“What’s your name, sir?”“Jun Spice. I would prefer if you keep calling me sir.”“O-okay, sir…” As distant as her granddaughter. Definitely blood-related.“How did you know we were related?” He asks in a contemplative tone.“Ehm… You're too similar, attitude-wise.”“Ugh… I see.” He seems strangely conflicted. “You’re a sharp young man. I can see why my granddaughter saw you as worthy of being her friend.” That’s not entirely true…“Thanks?”“Does she still wander around alone all day? I know she isn’t the most sociable of girls…” His expression is neutral, but you see his face tilting downward, giving him a sad appearance.“Kinda; but it’s her own decision.” The worried look on his face gets worse.“At least she found a friend.” He tries to see the positive side. You're not sure if its working for him. You’re in a peculiar situation with this old man, perhaps you can find out more about Matilda. You would be risking tell him something that she doesn’t want him to know, if you do.How to continue with this?>“You know what Matilda does in her free time, right?”>“So you play poker with Craig? What’s up with that?”>“You can ask me more about her, if you’re worried.”>“Did you come to visit someone? Maybe I can help, sir.”>"So what do you do, sir? Train people? Run a business?">Write In.

“Did you come to visit someone? Maybe I can help you with that, sir.”“My friend seems to be asleep at the moment, the nurse suggested me to wait. And so here I am. Thank you for the gesture.”“Who is your friend?”“The doctor who owns this place, Imminenté Calamity. I know he got into a sort of fight, and well… Let's just say I don’t look very kindly on those who dare to hurt my comrades.” He looks absolutely enraged, the exact same way Matilda was when Helmaer grabbed you by the shirt when you played pool at Craig’s. That helps you remember your next question.“So you play poker with Craig, right? I remember Matilda filling in for you once.” You ask the old man, who looks incredibly surprised at this.“You know Craig too? What a mighty surprise. Small world.” He seems happy that you know Craig.“We would know each other earlier if you went that time, sir.”“I haven’t been in best shape lately; the human body is fragile, young man. So make the best out of what you have, when you have it. Well, without going overboard.” He says as he once again looks over your injuries, almost… approvingly?! “Maybe I’ll see you there next time. I’m not too fond of the game, but I always look forward to meeting up with my students.”“Students?”“Maybe you should be asking Craig that question, boy. He has a better memory than I do, at his age.”“That one time, when Matilda went. She seems to take mistakes pretty hard. She had a hard time letting go of a bad shot she made.” That, and almost killing Helmaer.“Bad shot…?” Oh right, he thinks you only played poker.“We played team pool for some reason...” To this day, you still don’t know why.“That sounds more entertaining than a mere card game and parlor tricks. But yes, that’s one bad habit she inherited from us. That poor girl, the world changed too much for those of our caliber. If you could help her to stop treating everything so seriously, you would be of great help.”“You can ask me more about her, if you’re worried.”“Then maybe, since you two are friends… Could you explain this thing to me? Is this some kind of young kids fad?” He takes his wallet out and shows you a card… Matilda’s business card, printed and designed for absolute professionalism. “I don’t want to be unnecessarily worried, but the implications here are… Well, we don't have to play fools here, right young man?” He stares deep into your soul.

“It’s not as bad as you think…” You did your best to explain the situation, though you don’t know all the details. How Matilda is willing to do anything for the correct price, and how she doesn’t even have a decent number of clients. Obviously, you strongly reassure him that she has done nothing of a sexual nature.Poor old man is having a hard time grasping the idea. His right hand is on his forehead, his left hand is shaking, and just looks plain defeated. Even though you did everything you could to make it sound as mundane for the sake of Matilda, the old man is having none of it.“That child… I’m so disappointed in her…” He says, shaking his head, as his sentiment of disbelief slowly grows into anger.“…Do you know why she needs the money, sir? She’s still very reserved, and hasn’t told me anything.” Hopefully he doesn’t take this the wrong way…“I'm going to suggest you to mind your own business, young man.” His anger is intensifying.“With all due respect, sir, this is part of my business. She’s my business partner and friend, and I have a right to know.” You reply, standing your ground.“How impertinent! I’m starting to realize how you got closer to my cold granddaughter. But unlike that naïve little girl, this is not going to work with me, boy.” His stare again pierces through your soul. “The Spice family's issues are our own, and I refuse to allow a stranger pry on us. I'll also ask that you stop using whatever services my granddaughter is providing to you. I hope you are able to understand.” His anger is less, but still there. How do you respond?>“That line of thinking is only going to cause more problems to your family. I can help – please let me.” That has worked for you so far! People don’t know how to fix their own problems without your help!>“I understand, but don’t tell Matilda that I was the one who explained all this to you.” Prying further might spoil everything, so its better to let this go. >“Then I guess I’ll have to ask her myself. Nothing I can do about that, sir.” He can't stop you once you leave the clinic, you have Matilda's number and contact info.>“What do you want from me for me to stop being a ‘stranger’? “Let me guess, you lost your dojo to some accident, and she’s trying to rebuild and/or reclaim it." His appearance just screams ‘Dojo Master’…“This is when inexperience shows, young man. A hasty judgment can easily lead you to disaster.” He smirks, feeling he got the upper hand.“Then tell me – what do you want from me for me to stop being a ‘stranger’? If your granddaughter sees me as her friend, isn’t that enough for yourself, sir?” You now switch to being reasonable.“…Seems like your interest is genuine. So I’ll take a wild guess too, and say you won't let this go, right?”“Well, yeah.” You smirk back at him easily. What he doesn't see is Philonune doing the same thing right next to you.“I’m going to preface this and warn you, I’m considered a dangerous person by the world... and the underworld too. So we’re going to pretend you heard this from someone else… And more importantly, keep it a secret from Matilda.”“Alright…?” You are not sure about what you're dealing with now.“I’m not kidding, boy. Starting now, your neck is at stake…” He starts his incredible tale before you could really reconsider… Old man Spice explains that he used to be a high-profile hitman for the yakuza in his heyday, until he got injured doing a hit, and had to quit the business. So instead of retiring altogether, he decided to run a dojo with the fighting knowledge he hoarded up over the years: The Spice Dragon Dojo!He started teaching judo, because that’s a family tradition from Matilda's grandmother’s side. But slowly the Dojo became more like a type of gym, where every fighter from all walks of life came to learn under his wing. It’s not like he wasn’t familiarized with the distinct disciplines thanks to his line of work. Boxing! Muay Thai! Kick-boxing! Aikido! Everything was there, and with other trainers’ help, they started gaining a lot of fame and renown. That’s when the clan returned for a favor. They wanted him to train the new prospects and turn them into deadly weapons loyal to the syndicate. Old man Spice didn’t seem to mind at all, seeing no difference between a criminal or an athlete as a disciple. Usually the regular athletes trained during the day, and at night the yakuza men took the mats, but sometimes the members mixed up depending on their own schedules, creating new techniques and methods. It was great for everyone for a time, but there was a problem he didn’t foresee: Matilda.[1/2]
>>2624072Matilda’s parents are long gone. Her mother (his daughter) died of a serious sickness when she was very young, and her father basically abandoned her to travel around the world. The old man had to take care of her himself. Since he was busy for the most part working in the gym or doing other paperwork, she had her run around the Dojo most of the day. He couldn't leave Matilda with a caretaker or anyone else, because he was afraid someone from one of the rival clans would snatch her away. Besides, the hot-blooded athletes and the cunning yakuza grunts adored Matilda, from her watching their training with all the excited attention of an elementary schooler, and each would gladly protect her with their lives. Over time, Matilda started to pick up some… strange quirks from the yakuza members, so the old man decided to completely sever ties with the criminal organization. That wasn’t in their best interests, since their best fighters came from the Dojo, and they resorted to threatening him so business could continue as usual. Old man Spice fought back hard. In the end, instead of continuing to struggle, and for the sake of his granddaughter – he made a deal. He would never open any dojo ever again, and would sell the rights to the name, locking himself out of the reputation that he built. He had to retire for good...He thinks perhaps Matilda is trying to buy back the name for his sake. For some reason, Matilda became really attached to everyone in the gym, and constantly reminisces about the Dojo's golden days with great fondness. She thinks the group who bought the rights is another corporation who also happens to own his ex-dojo’s main competitor: The Tiger Fist GYM.The reality is that the same corporation is owned by the Rokyo Clan – the same clan that old man Spice was bound to as cleaner! By ensuring that all the gyms and exercise places were bought out by them in a monopoly, they not only denied the other clans public resource for training, but also made sure old man Spice would never be able to associate with anything by proxy either!“What a long story, sir.” It’s almost 4:30 PM, time sure flies! “Good thing you didn’t trust me…”“I have a hard time trusting an Ando, but that's a story for another time.” Wait, your dad was involved with all this too?! Did he do something despicable to the old man, or something else…? “It’s getting awfully late. I’m going to check on my friend before leaving. I hope you’re really worth my trust and… Thank you, for hearing this old man rambling. Not even my disciples bother to listen or visit anymore.” He says the last part wistfully.“Goodbye, sir.” You need a meal now, after a story like that. Whew!He nods stoically, before standing up and leaving to the elevator. In the meantime, you head on over to the clinic kitchen…Sadly this is all we have for this week’s thread.
