The old woman turns on a dime as soon as she’s in front of the Orange residence, barely losing any speed as she rushes up to you and Ammy. “My oh my! I heard there were some hurt youngins, so I came running!” Mrs. Orange says, sliding to a stop in front of you and Ammy. Before you can even get a word in edgewise, the old woman is practically on top of you, prodding at the hole in your chest but careful not to break the still fragile scab over it. She then swiftly moves over to Ammy, taking in the sights of her bloody legs with a disappointed click of her tongue. “You children act so reckless. One day, you will be as old as me and find yourself all worn out if you keep doing this!”Ammy clears her throat. “It really wasn’t our intention, Mrs. Orange. There were demons up by the sacred deck and we had to act quickly.”“Some more quickly than others,” Issun snickers from atop Ammy’s head. You growl and resist the urge to swat him right off.The old woman just let out an exasperated sigh. “Quick doesn’t have to be reckless, you remember that. Now keep your behinds here while I grab the medicine,” she says with a scolding finger waggle, walking past everyone and into the house.Mr. Orange just chuckles. “Oh, my love. Always so concerned for the young folk. I think I’ve had enough excitement for one day, so I’ll retire for a nap. My dear wife should be back out in but a moment. You to try to stay out of trouble and don’t go up to the deck again to smooch were no one can see!”Again, you look away as your face burns red and Ammy’s gains the slightest tinge of pink. Mr. Orange just chuckles again as he hobbles past.Kyacchi looks between you and Ammy and nods. “I guess I’ll be taking my leave as well. You’re in good hands with Mrs. Oran - Mushi! You and your mutt quit digging up my field!” Kyacchi yells to her son in the field across the road before she takes off as quickly as her large frame will let her.Ammy giggles into a hand.Mrs. Orange walks back out with a medium-size bundle in her arms. She sets the bundle down by you and Ammy and unwraps it. Inside are a number of bandages, dried plants, and several vials of brackish looking liquid stopped by corks. Mrs. Orange unrolls some of the bandages and picks up one of the vials, giving it a shake as she grumbles.

You try not to shift too much because the ointment-coated bandages under your shirt makes your wound sting.Ammy is much lighter wrapped since her wounds were only skin deep… Mostly. Most of her legs are still wrapped up, however. By the time that Mrs. Orange was finished with you, her wounds had already stopped bleeding entirely.“Now you two don’t be getting into trouble on purpose,” Mrs. Orange says as she wraps her medical supplies back up. “Hina-chan is out of the village and I can only do so much.”>”We won’t. >>2583601You contort your face into an expression of distaste. "Why would we get into trouble on purpose? Ma'am, trouble hurts. The only reason we do it is to help, like in the case of Mr Orange." Mrs. Orange looks up at you with narrow eyes and another finger waggle. “You better keep it that way,” She says, before going back to packing her supplies. Then you look over to Ammy and Issun, leaning towards them. "Should we, uh, should we give her some yen for the patch up?" you ask quietly.Issun bounces just twice and then settles. “Nah. Not this time at least,” he says, quiet as well. “This is repayment for saving Mr. Orange, and you can’t really put a price on someone’s life. Offering to pay would be kind of insulting. You are definitely a city guy, huh?” You scowl. “I am not.”Mrs. Orange ties the knot on the bundle holding her little satchel of curatives and lifts its into her arms, slowly making her way back inside. “You children stay out of trouble! I mean it!”“We will. Thank you Mrs. Orange!” Ammy calls with a wagging tail as the old woman returns to her home. With that ordeal out-of-the-way, that leaves you, Ammy, and Issun free to leave. >>2583668“Ammy, Issun,” you start, getting their attention. “Let’s hit up that blacksmith shop real quick. I probably shouldn’t rely exclusively on my gun.”Ammy’s ears perk up. “You’re wanting a sword?”“The even know how to use a sword?” Issun questions skeptically. “It’s not exactly something that just anyone can pick up. It takes someone special to be a swordsman!” He says dramatically, drawing his own sword with a flourish and a quiet ting sound.“Of course I know how to use a sword,” you start, pushing your hands into your pockets as you start to walk. “Pointy bit goes in the other guy. Don’t let the other guy’s pointy bit hit me.” Ammy snorts in barely repressed laughter as Issun glows red and bounces furiously on Ammy’s head. “You dork! That’s not how it works!” The rest of the short walk is in a comfortable silence. As you approach the smithy, the rhythmic sound of hammer upon steel is strangely absent. Maybe the blacksmith is doing something else? You approach the front of the shop and knock on one of the support beams. “Hello? Anyone here?” you ask, looking inside and seeing no one.At first, there is no response. Then the door at the back of the shop slides open, revealing an older, bald headed man in a simple robe and sandals with a surly expression. Held in one calloused hand and resting on his shoulder is an axe. The man narrows his eyes at you and Ammy. “A pair of gakis, one of which is a foreigner? >>2583735>This is pretty good. Just leave out the "swindle" part.>Let Issun mention that.
>>2583735We'll go ahead and take the popular option here since we've been waiting a while. It's probably not a good idea to run a session on Mondays when everyone is tired from work/school.

He narrows his eyes and smirks. “I know that you’re not just whispering to girlie there for her purse. You’re a little too familiar in Kamiki for your friends to pull a fast one on me, Issun.”You freeze. How the hell..? “I don’t keep junk in my shop that you can magic back together. No. Anything brought in here is fixed with these two hands,” the blacksmith says, holding up a rough and scar coated hand. He grabs a plain sword off the rack by him and tosses it to you. “The name is Hiro, I figure you should know the name of the guy you tried to scam.”Your reputation with Hiro the Blacksmith decreased! You catch the sword, the same one that you looked at before the curse was cleared, and look down at it unsurely.------------Foot Soldier’s Katana (Common)Scales with STR1d4 SlashingWeapon Art: None“A common weapon forged from common materials. >>2583863>mfwOuch, did not expect that. Can we salvage this?He was being a jerk to potential costumers and we just decided to return in kind. How about an apology and an explanation like that and we'll even rejuvenate his tools if that's okay with Amaterasu, maybe then we can get that price shaved down some? A blacksmith's tools are his life after all.Still, it's not like we are in desperate need of it, we can take our business elsewhere in another village or something if it doesn't work out. Thanks for running QM.
>>2583888>take our business elsewhere when the way out of town is blocked by a boulder.
>>2583896I meant later and not something we say to the blacksmith, I meant that we aren't really that desperate for a sword to not hold on a little while more, we just started the adventure after allAlso, I don't want to metagame here and say we could maybe borrow something from Susano when we meet him, he probably as some worn out wooden sword stashed somewhere we can get rejuvenated.
>>2583912Because it's the beginning of the adventure it's important to get used to any new weapons.
>>2583923So we either try for the Soldier Katana at a price we can actually afford or hope Susano has some spare"training sticks", maybe he can give us some pointers too.
>>2583863>Examine the blade again>Shame. Can't afford it.>Toss it back to him.>Thanks for the offer though.>If Hiro-Sama would humor a mere foreign Gaki...>Hoes, scythes, hammers... All make sense for the village blacksmith.>Why make swords? Practice? Or expecting trouble?
>>2584037Make that Gaijin Gaki.
>>2583888>Did not expect thatThe hills have eyes Anon, always assume you are being watched. Especially at the level we are at when we're more of a man than a rogue. At least he's not tossing our ass out of a shop so there's some form of a damned silver lining.
>>2583863"Oh boy time to catch up with Oka-">Your reputation with Hiro the Blacksmith decreased!*Fumes*Was attempting to swindle the guy REALLY necessary?*Sigh* It's fine, it's fine, not the end of the world.Supporting >>2584037, no need to annoy/anger the blacksmith more than we already have.
>>2584479Welcome to Anons trying to do things without checking to see if they even have the ability to do that shit lol
>>2584487It's not even the swindling attempt itself that has me pissed, it's HOW Anons went about it!"Let's start whispering to our companion RIGHT IN FRONT of the guy we're attempting to swindle!"Egh, this is salvageable, if not right at this very moment.
>>2584492Well we can always try to offer to help him out with some basic work to do for him to smooth some things over. I mean nothing says that we can't make it up to him for our worthless attempt. Especially considering that he legit thinks that we were asking Issun and not Ammy.
>>2584492Random passerby here, I think an even better question is why >>2583735 thought using the word “swindle” to describe a plan to Amaterasu was a good idea.
>>2584582Because there's a good chance that Anon was either a shitposter, an idiot who assumed too much and didn't do his research into playing the quest, or just didn't play or know anything about Okami and thought that he wasn't literally talking to the actual Goddess of the Sun.
>>2584589I haven’t played Okami either, but I do know Ammy is called “Origin of all that is good”.
>>2584594>but I do know Ammy is called “Origin of all that is good”Huh, I did not know that. That's pretty neat.
>>2584605Yeah, in the game she’s referred to as “Origin of all that is good and mother to us all”. And a mother would not approve of her children trying to cheat one another.
>>2584608Of course, but I simply under the belief that it was because they were trying to be fancy rather than an actual meaning, it only goes to show that some Anons just don't do their own research.
>>2584611>I simply under the belief that it was because they were trying to be fancyThat might be the case, but it still says something about what she’s like.
>>2584487Oi, it would have worked perfectly if Issun didn't have that bad a reputation with him already, his presence is what tipped the Blacksmith off.>>2584492>>2584582>>2584589Rude, my write ins usually lead to something positive or a reputation increase. It was supposed to be a bit humorous and to give the QM the gist of what I was trying to go for, and we didn't end up actually saying "swindle".But I'll refrain from doing that again, now that I know just how bad Issun's rep with the people is. It's not like what I proposed is such a crime; people make a living out of buying old crap cheap and restoring it to sell for much more than they payed for it all the time, only here there's magic involved so the profit margin is way higher.
>>2584660>Oi, it would have worked perfectly if Issun didn't have that bad a reputation with him already, his presence is what tipped the Blacksmith off.Kazama, whether or not Issun's presence tipped him off does not change the fact that we're technically an outsider, which means that we're already going to be looked upon by most people with a iota of suspicion regardless of what we do. And yes, what I said before does contain varying amounts of rudeness, I only hope that it should hammer in the fact that we should be a bit more careful with people who are not a part of our party since the're not going to be as understanding as Ammy or Issun. >It's not like what I proposed is such a crime; people make a living out of buying old crap cheap and restoring it to sell for much more than they payed for it all the time, only here there's magic involved so the profit margin is way higher. It may work in our world where not a lot of people are trained in forging metal items like hammers or swords, but in the past your job was essentially your life, your bread and butter. If someone were to buy something from you and made it "better" that may as well have been thievery to them because they screwed you out of profit which leads to being screwed out of a meal.
>>2583863>The sword does the same damage as the redhawk bash with no range to use as backup. I don't see why everyone wants the sword. We could easily save our money and wait for something nicer.
>>2584789Slashing > BashingThere may be times where the Redhawk won't help us, anons want a side weapon for cases such as those
>>2584789Backup weapon in the case of running out of ammo.
The vote was actually specifically to avoid that wording, though the plan was the same.So up to the QM really.
>>2584905Speaking of swords, it makes me wonder if Muramasa or Masamune are around and still alive. Because if they are then we have an actual chance at getting more expertly crafted melee weapons.
Fucking hell. If it's not one thing it's another. Sorry guys. We'll have to skip tonight and maybe tomorrow. I'm sorry I didn't plan this better considering I knew my week was full. We'll probably have to make a 4.5 thread next week. If anything changes I'll update you all ASAP.
