Finally after two years in the service of the Dark Queen Quintis you have finally been promoted, no more marching through filthy peasant villages administering the Queen's justice, this is your chance to rise through the ranks of her Majesty's armies and become one of her generals.Or so you thought until you got stuck in some goblin lieutenant's base and treasure hoard assigned the privilege of cleaning out and resetting his traps. The grinding of rusty gears and a blood chilling scream cut short awake you from your cot in the base's barracks. Before long your hand touches a wall and you begin feeling around for the hidden release. finding it the stone wall in front of you slides away to reveal a dim corridor. You seal the door behind you and head to the trap.It was a simple trap a floor pressure plate tied to two extremely sharp blades. one swung towards the victims face, the other his gut disemboweling them when they raise their hands to protect their face. As the current victim had done. The man was cut in two his guts spilled all over the floor with his hands laying in a pile of intestines, cut off by the other blade. Heroes today you think to your self, if this one had invested in some good armor he wouldn't be laying in his own entrails. Luckily for you they had only just started to tear at the corpse, checking the dead man's pockets you find a single gold piece, probably pretty rich by this guy's standards, but little else his clothes and boots were dirty and worn, not worth much, and his short-sword seemed to have disappeared into thin air. You wait until your boss and the garrison leave before returning to the raid room to write a letter to the regional commander, as you remember the commander was a sensible person if you gave him enough reason to remove your boss he would, you start your letter cordially before moving on to your boss's past blunder's and excesses, and then end with his most recent and possibly biggest blunder yet, burning down the village. You sign and seal the letter before hiding it away in your equipment trunk in the barracks, you would send the letter out with the next tax pick up.With that finished you head out into the maze to go and examine the traps, it would be some time before your boss returned, you were also curious as to why that last intruder hadn't fallen into a trap even the correct path through the maze was trapped so why hadn't he tripped any. You tap the plate with your halberd butt and back away, the trap activates and section of the roof slams down around the area of the pressure plate satisfied with your work you reset the trap and go examine others two more traps have the same problem which you fix as well. Now the maze has been rearmed and is ready for anyone foolish enough to come snooping. With your work finished you step out of the base for some fresh air and to see whether the village had been burned to the ground yet. As you walk out of the entrance in to the setting sun you are nearly knocked over by a group of goblins. They are all running in a panic past you and into the base, regaining your footing you grab one trying to run past you and pin him to a wall and ask "What the hell is going on here,""IT WAS A TRAP," he squeals as he fidgets in your hands"What was a trap," you demand."When we went into the village the place looked abandon, except for this one girl standing in the middle of the street, she challenged the boss to a fight. Rolled 15 (1d20)>>2561086Rolling>>2561101My nigga. You on a roll.
Rolled 19 (1d20)>>2561086
>>2561086What was once probably a pretty face is now maimed and ugly
>>2561107Thank You, I believe this is the dice's way of making up for that triple nat 1s.
>>2561086You are going to tell me, who are you, who sent you, what was your goal here, and how many more of you are there. because if you don't I'm going to start taking the skin off of those 3 man and when I'm finished with them I'm going to do the same to each and everyone else you left on that village, every woman and child. and you know I am talking the truth
>>2561135lets talk this while streightening her nose, to show we can be merciful too hehehehe
>>2561086>>2561101>>2561107failed>>2561110>3 successes (DC was supposed to be hard but never mind with these rolls)You sigh as you remove your helmet. Placing it on the ground next to the cage, the Hero seems to be surprised that you are in fact human. "I think you know how this is going to work, I am going to ask you some questions, if you answer them truthfully no one gets hurt, but if you lie to me, or if you refuse to answer those three men sitting over there will pay the price for your dishonesty, you will watch as they are slowly tortured and killed, and once these three die I will go to Resis and retrieve villagers, one family at a time and they will watch as each member of their family is tortured while you sit in this cage and do nothing to ease their pain, do you understand." The hero looks to the three bound men and then at the floor of the cage before returning to your gaze, you swear you can see tears well in her eyes as she answers "What do you want to know,">What do you want to knowway to go you made the poor girl cry I hope you are happy
>>2561183"Who are you?" "Who sent you?" "Who is the spy that is giving you and your group information on us?" Let's start off with some basic questioning before we get to the meaty chunks. Also she should have gone into a different line of work if she didn't want to see people die infront of her.
>>2561218this plus are you all that was sent or were you just the start
>>2561218heros man, heros...>>2561183also ask what was the goal of invading this fort and how many others of her group are out there
>>2561218Getting the basics down is good. We can get her name, and then refer to her by it. Using her name directly will be more effective.
>>2561183>>2561218>>2561233>>2561237"Who are you," it was better to start simple."My name is Selenas Redwater," good, a name to go with the crushed face."Ok Selenas, who sent you," You detect a hint of pride and defiance as she answers your question."Falenta Estelle," She must be the true hero you think, even her name is enough to inspire her captured friend."Who told you we would be in Resis today,""I convinced three of the townsfolk, I don't know their names, to scout your base, only one returned but he told me that you guys were planning to visit to collect taxes soon so, I drew up an ambush and convinced the town to help. When I killed the one ordering the others around, I assumed that he was the boss and that a quick follow up at his base would dislodge the Queen from this area, but I guess I didn't kill the boss, only one of his lackeys,""Can I expect more of you heroes to come,""As long as you serve the Queen, yes," she spits.>Anything else?
>>2561414"I must say miss Redwater, I should thank you for getting rid of my jackass of a boss. It saved me the trouble of doing so.""Now, do you have any other comrades that may come here to rescue you if they were to hear of your disappearance?"
>>2561414Where is this "Falenta Estelle" person? How old are they? What gender? What do they look like?>she spitsIf she just spat on us then pinch her broken nose.Where did you come from?
>>2561453Lets not talk about the boss, but i agree with the second partAlso, compliment the enchantment on her sword, ask what it does and where did she get it
>>2561471Better, set it in place, it hurts like a motherfucker
>>2561505He's dead, it'll make her realize that she fucked up much harder than she realized.
>>2561520I prefer to let her think that we are some type of badass, not that she fucked up
>>2561628She's going to be dead soon afterwards because she's too dangerous to keep alive.
>>2561414>>2561471>>2561453>>2561505"I must say Selenas your sword is a work of beauty where did you get it and...," she interrupts you before you can finish."It won't work for you, Falenta herself gave it to me it won't show its power for you.""hmm, good to know. Now who is this Falenta, what does she look like and where is she?" At this question Selenas stiffens."No," she mutters; "What did you say?""No, I can't answer that, ask anything else, but I can't answer that."Can't or won't," you answer. She remains silent.>Leave her, she has answered enough of your questions for now>Time to put the screws on her [pick a torture target]>Ask a different question>[Write In]
>>2561714Set her nose streigth and then leave her for nowWe should include her on thw letter to the regional commander to se what we should do with herHead to the treasure room and see whats in there
>>2561714Crack her nose into place before saying "and so the torture begins" in a badass voice
>>2561714Do we have any proper chains, cuffs and manacles to put on then?>>2561714Lets leave her for now and question the three villagers. Then when we're done we should do what this anon suggesed >>2561746
>>2561714brb eating update in 30-45 min
>>2561849she is currently bound in manacles
>>2561714>>2561746>>2561849>>2561826You reach into the cage and grab Selenas by the nose, then grabbing her head with your other hand you straighten out her nose. She lets out a howl of pain as you pop it back into place. You then release her, close the cage and lock it. "And so it begins." you say to her before you turn your attention to the peasants.>Question them they might know something Selenas doesn't>Lock them up they are useful still>Execute them>Torture them, that should loosen Selenas's tongue>[Write In]
Might be a spell stopping her, might die if she tries to tell. Lets not ask about that without mage help in case of magical kill switch, we are not in a hurry and that might get some high ranking queen folk to visit us to do that part of the interregation.
>>2562175>Question them they might know something Selenas doesn't
>>2562175How many of you are left in the village?Do we have any forced labor that needs to be done?
>>2562175Begin the torture
>>2562175>>2562207>>2562213All three of the peasants had been locked into separate cages but they were all within earshot to hear your questions, before you can ask your first question however Selenas screams from across the room "Don't kill them. Please don't." the three peasants all stiffen at her words before you turn around and shout, "SILENCE," you turn back to the peasants and begin your questioning."How many of you are-,""PLEASE DON'T KILL ME," yells one of the peasants before you could even get your first question out."I won't kill you if you answer my questions truthfully and don't interrupt me, now once again how many of you are left in Resis.""I don't know how many came with us but the village has around 60 people living in it." one peasant answers."Please, lord we only wanted to protect our village, that lady said that if we didn't fight back you were going to burn down the whole village."If that was the case you could probably still stabilize that village if you had more troops but what to do with these peasants.>Keep them here for now>Sentence them to hard labor expanding the dungeon once you refilled the garrison>Execute them for treason>Ask them more questions [Specify]>[Write In]
>>2562450To be fair, I wanted to no such thing. That fat oaf left before I could talk some sense into him.>Sentence them to hard labor expanding the dungeon once you refilled the garrisonWe're not a monster, but they will pay for their crimes against the queen. Once they've done their time or I feel other wise, they may return to their homes.
>>2562450Alright boys I start my job tomorrow so I will be signing off for the night. I will archive this thread tomorrow after work so cast your votes with in the next 17 hours.I will then start a new thread and be back with a name so keep an eye out for Mid Boss Quest 2 tomorrow where we will pick up where we left off.
>>2562450>>Sentence them to hard labor expanding the dungeon once you refilled the garrisonHonestly they seem like the type of people that will do whatever you tell them to do if you spook them a bit, so why not put them to better use than sending them to certain death?
>>2562450No point in killing them, but we need to punish them for obvious reasons.
Okey, after we've delt with the peasants i have an idea to bring order back to that village. We gag the girl and slump her naked self over a horse with we riding it. When we arrive at the village we pull her hair up and ask them ' Is this your hero you pathetic worms?I should thank you, really, for culling my army from weakness, but...Your actions were a great crime against her highness...What's worse! You still haven't payed your taxes"We point to the prettiest girl we can see and say"You are going to personally deliver double the villages taxes by tomorrow night at my garrison" "Or else I will kill the prisioners I have and burn this village to the ground"Let them believe that the fatty waa just a henchman and that we are some kind of uberknight and that they still have some hope of seeing their family members alive.Man we are so in over our head, let's enjoy it while it lasts hehehehe
>>2563213That, or... we could play it smart, get support from the local commander and re-establish order while we move up the hierarchy. It's way slower tho.
>>2563238I was thinking in getting double tax and everything in order before we send word to him, to show initiative and competence you know. Maybe this way they'll put us in charge instead of sending someone else
>>2563243I'm not for sending a premature tax request at double the rate
>>2563243It's simple: pin all the fault on the old boss and the hero raid, leaving the latter alive as proof. Then inquire about the tax situation and propose an eventual double collection.Much more elegant of a solution.
>>2563286well, they have to be punished somehow, is either that or burn the place down>>2563293yeah, I know, I was thinking that showing their hero beaten and humiliated with the added bonus of us having their family members prisioners would make them instantly fall in line
