Welcome to the Maho region! A vibrant and incredibly diverse region filled to the brim with new Pokemon and new adventures! As a young man who's never been on his own Pokemon journey before, it's about high time you go out and see the world!Twitter: https://twitter.com/glacierQMFirst Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2400739/ (I mis-tagged the suptg post so I can't link the tag, woops!)Character Info Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/nt6QeQUa

>>2421408>OtherCan we pop in to the local pokemart, maybe nab a couple of pokeballs? Surely we've got at least a bit of pocket change on us. After that,>I want to see POWERFUL Pokemon, time to go straight into the woods.>I should check out my Cubcoal and properly get acquainted as his trainer.Shall we take Cubcoal out of his pokeball, and have him walk with us on a hike? Bonding experience and pokemon hunting excursion all in one. Plus it'll probably be good to have Cubcoal immediately on call if we run into a wild pokemon.
>>2421408Also, that shirt, my god, it's perfect.
>>2421498Check the pastebin we have 5 pokeballs and 3000 Pokedollars (Based mom & dad) which I think is enough for a little bit. But I can totally agree on the whole letting out Cubcoal thing (HGSS ftw)
>>2421522Ah, did we? My apologies then. Skip straight to the nature hike then, I guess. Oh yeah, didn't Professor Aspen say during the last thread that there might be some people around Claribar Town that might be willing to accompany us on our glorious, region spanning adventure? Will probably want to check that out later, maybe after the hike.
>>2421480that's why it would be fun
>>2421539I don't know about the other anons but I would rather we travel alone. Idk I just like the idea of a man and his pokemon against it all but that might be just me. >>2421550Agreed agreed anyone who doesn't want to go into the forest is a chump

>>2422383Swatting berries off a bush and eating it off the floor is a bit different from grasping a tail. One generally needs a thumb, while the other doesnt. And throwing is a fairly complex manuever for a creature that could just set things on fire and call it a day.

Just caught up on this quest. Props, glacier. Wish I could have been around to spit some game at our hot professor. This quest has me intrigued. I will be watching.
>>2422350>>2422358>>2422383"Scratch" and "Tackle" are basic, actions that consist of sentences explaining what to do are not. We should hold off on more complex commands until we get a chance to actually train with Cubcoal. Not just grind on wild Pokemon, but train, and practice maneuvers together without enemies around.
>>2422345Scratch till death!
>>2422394As you can see in the pic Cubcoal's hand follows anime logic and can still hold things despite it logically not being able to. It's shouldn't be able to hold the berry like that with it's stubs so it should be able to grip things especially with 2 hands. I also don't see how throwing is a complex maneuver even though babies do it all the time but breathing fire, dodging attacks (especially when there's sand in your eyes), and understanding and reacting to english(?) in the heat of battle isn't>>2422431Anon it's 1 sentence I can understand if it was like 3 sentences long but it clearly isn't and the content isn't amazingly complex compared to other things Cubcoal has done with no visible strain. I would like to mix up battle because I think the whole "use tackle until it dies" thing is boring and the reason I have to take breaks from the games so I don't get bored and now that we have the ability to choose exacly what we do I want to spice things up a little. And as for training Cubcoal I defiantly agree I hate grinding and always would rather the training they do in the anime
>>2422658Forgot the pic
>>2422431We really can't know until we try, let's not worry so much about failure, it's about learning together we our pokemon. If we lose a battle it's not the end of the world.
>>2422686This anon put it amazingly. How can you ignore such a beautiful statement anons? How?
>>2422686Yeah, but lets get a backup pokemon before trying complex maneuvers. Im not keen on getting mugged by a wild rat thing.
>>2422686Yeah, but how do we know it's not gonna attack US once it kicks Cubcoals ass? I don't want to be chased out of the woods by this region's gods damned vermin pokemon, that's a terrible way to start an adventure.
>>2422724>>2422719Cubcoal hasn't taken any damage. Trying to do something that'll make it unable to attack isn't gonna one-shot Cubcoal idk why you think scratch makes it less likely to deal damage to us
>>2422749Yeah, but I don't think we've got any potions or the like on us, so the less damage Cubcoal takes the better. There's a decent chance we're gonna run into more Pokemon on this hike, better to end this as efficiently as possible and keep Cuboal in peak condition.
>>2422345>Grab it by the tail and smack it against a treethis is stupid but if it works it'll be funny
>>2422825Man this is like the 3rd time I'm telling someone this but look at the pastebin. We have 2 potions and 2 oran berries plus we're in a forest so we can assume there's more berries around if we somehow get injured enough >>2422847I don't think it's to ridiculous but I do agree it would be funny
>>2422825Well we already decided to take the risky path, and we picked the feisty pokemon, it seems to be out of character to start playing it really safe now.>>2422724I mean, If it does, it's a small bird, we grab Cubcoal, shield it with our body and run for safety, we aren't deep in the woods and we don't seem to be in the dangerous part of the region. I think we can handle a bit of a bruised ego, we're already 8-10 years late starting our journey.
>>2423139>it seems to be out of character to start playing it really safe now.imo this is the wrong approach to quest characterization. The choices made in the quest define the character, you're not limited to only the choices that fit the character traits already established. For example in the situation mentioned, that wouldn't be out of character, it would change our character from "confident, hotheaded go-getter" to "guy who tries to be confident and wild but lacks the confidence and ends up bitching out".Real people aren't always totally secure in their decision making, it's okay to flip flop in character.
>Ember!!>Scratch!!>Growl!!>Other!![Roll 3 1d100s!]
Rolled 80 (1d100)>>2423182>Scratch!!
Rolled 99 (1d100)>>2423182>Scratch!!
Rolled 7 (1d100)>>2423182>Scratch!!God damn it Cubcoal start listening
>>2423187>>2423188>>2423193I think we are good
>>2423159I can agree to this approach of doing a quest but what I think what that anon was trying to get across was is that we aren't in a position where running is the only reasonable option as we are not in danger yet. If we were in danger then the confident coward would be a logical option but we aren't. Let me put it like this>Goes into dangerous forest >Starts battle with pokemon instantly >Damages enemy without taking any damage >Runs away This doesn't make any sense with the established character cause there's nothing challenging the characters regular environment so any change would come off as bipolar
>>2423188 Took me forever to find this pic
>Catch it!>Don't catch it and leave its body as a reminder to the forest that you are the KING.
>>2423226Is it rare?
>>2423226Also do we roll for encounters?
>>2423226>Don't catch it and leave its body as a reminder to the forest that you are the KING.It looks lame and is probably weak also give Cubcoal some pats for a job well done
>>2423226>>Don't catch it and leave its body as a reminder to the forest that you are the KING.It's not like we need another fire type. Gotta get some type diversity.
>>2423234In cases like this where it's a pretty low-level Pokemon who's definitely fainted, I won't require rolls for catching it. But once it gets into the higher levels and the Pokemon might still be conscious I'll ask for rolls!
>>2423234Encounters are probably predetermined so we get to see the most new pokemon and don't encounter 10 Parafly's in a row
>>2423234I'm an idiot I thought you meant rolling for catching them.Encounters are predetermined yes!
>>2423226>Don't catch it and leave its body as a reminder to the forest that you are the KING.We're just begging to get taken down a peg or three
>>2423245You still answered a question that was bound to get asked
>>2423226Don't catch it.
>>2423246Yup keeper of the forest incoming
>>2423246Shhh don't tell the KING that
>>2423226Don't catch, compliment Cubcoal.
>>2423159I agree it's our choices that make the character, I never said otherwise, but we decided to go into the dangerous forest instead of the safe route, it was the decision we made immediately before this battle. I just think, not only because the option seemed fun, but for the sake of making decisions with some manner of consistency, we shouldn't just decide to start making risk calculations when we haven't done so before and have no reason to start
>>2423226>Don't catch it and leave its body as a reminder to the forest that you are the KING.
>Don't catch it.Spray it down with a potion or something. You did kind of step on it.
>>2423317Fuck that shit I don't wanna waste a potion on some wild pokemon just cause we accidentally stepped on it's tail

>>2423341>Say that you really want to form a strong friendship where you can trust each other.
>>2423341>>Say that you really want to form a strong friendship where you can trust each other.cubcoal probably doesn't give a damn about danger
>>2423351>Fevinefag >>2423357True but I'm pretty sure he doesn't like sand in his eyes
>>2423365Cubcoal will respond to the threat of tedium.
>>2423341Hmph. We're gonna be the strongest team ever. But that means we have to actually be a team.
>>2423341>Try and bribe it with something. There is a reason we give treats to pets
>>2423341>Say that you really want to form a strong friendship where you can trust each other.I'd like to supplement this with maybe wiping off whatever bits of sand are still left on his face/around his eyes. We might get bit for it, but sacrifices must be made.>>2423365Respect fevinebros, for they are our ally in all things. Though we may regret leaving Fevine behind, we are all in this together for a journey of bonding through trials and strife. We must stand strong against the nibdewfags, who would threaten to tear this unity apart, and cast us down into peril.
>>2423378>We must stand strong against the nibdewfags>nibdewfagsImplying there's more than one of them
Your all lame.>Do you remember when I told you too Dodge?>Even though you were blinded I still knew what was coming and was able to let you know.>I asked you to scratch him because of that Pokemons type.>Like you. >>2423432I feel like I should say that I'm a Cubcoalfag with an appreciation of best cat.
This is fine, and I respect both your life choices and tastes. Such is our fellowship.
>>2423386I liked Nibdew a lot, but I like them all, I guess I really enjoy the QMs style and humor more than anything because I can't resist smiling like an idiot when cubcoal does stuff like >>2423257 >>2423432
>>2423391I'll support this>>2423402With this attached to it.

>>2423475It's funny you should say that when I first saw him he reminded me of Silver and I can't unsee it but that's probably because I imagine him with red hair. Glacier should reall draw him in color one of these days
>>2423460>We should actually take a moment to do a bit of training while we're here. Now that we've impressed on Cubcoal that it's not always the case of who has the bigger stick, we need to put our money where our mouth is and start working on battle tactics. Also he looks liable to work himself up into a snit if we just leave him alone. Also us sticking around a bit gives Fevine more time to catch up to us *bricked*
>>2423552>That spoiler Kek
>>2423460>>We should actually take a moment to do a bit of training while we're hereDon't see why not, gotta grind them early levels.
>>2423562Of course how else is our starter going to evolve while fighting against the 1st gym leaders strongest pokemon In glorious battle HINT HINT
>>2423552>spoilerGive it up Anon. Dream dead. Poor thing probably has trust issues now
>>2423585>>2423552Keep the faith, anon. Don't led the nibdewfags poison your mind with their lies. We must continue to pet Fevine at every opportunity.
>>2423591Everyday we must call the Prof. and pet Fevine through the camera
>>2423585>Give it upIf we weren't going back to the lab to complete the fetch quest (and thus have more opportunities to seduce Fevine to the baller side) I would have. Hopefully we'll stick to the plan and not be distracted....>>2423562Which reminds me....we never did get WHAT the typing of the gym was, did we? We'd better grind up now just incase its the traditional rock/ground gym. >>2423591>Nibdewwho?
>>2423606>Petting Fevine through the camera every dayI like this idea. Glacier, please!
>>2423607We'll find out when we get there here are the options that I see:1. Normal - We're even 2. Bug - We wreck shit 3. Rock - Right when we're about to lose Fevine comes to the rescue Also haven't you heard Nibdew is the best starter and soon to be strongest party member
>>2423612Thirding. But checking with them now is more than just because we miss Fevine! It also gives them firsthand data on how easy it is to train Cubcoals / how amenable they are to following instructions they're not keen on/ the general tempement of Cubcoal when he's not in BURN EVERYTHING battle mode. Plus we have experienced trainers on hand to tell us what to do if we screw up training and provoke cubcoal into starting a forest fire or something
>>2423612>Calls Prof. >"Oh Fevine? Some other trainer who cared about him enough to pick him came and took him. Seems like you'll never pat him again >Cries>"But we still have Nibdew >Fevinefags on suicide watch>>2423622 #This is a good idea we should update them everyday or 2 just to log Cubcoals behavior and reactions and then they'll give all 3 because we give such great data
[Training is gonna be more open-ended than battling! You can choose if you want to focus on powering up moves, work on battle tactics, work on raising some stats (Speed training, Strength training, etc.) I'd like for move training to be more like the anime like how they'd combine moves to form one giant move, or a Pokemon could ride on another Pokemon's back for larger reach! It's very much a work in progress/abstract thing so sorry if it's confusing for anyone!]>Train up some moves!>Let's work on battle tactics!>Let's just do some old-fashioned physical training to raise stats!
also when did we go from cynical hobo to cinnamon bun?
>>2423656>Another trainer came by>They rightfully recognized nibdew as a failure>Realized that Fevine was the only real choice>We get their contact details and track them down just to meet up with Fevine>They become our bro/waifu.........>No new trainers ever enter the region>Everyone sees Nibdew and just decides to go home.>We stop phoning back to the lab>>2423677>Let's work on battle tactics!I think this is the safest bet. It seems like a few anons have been itching for more complicated write-ins, and this should make them easier to do in battle.
>>2423677>>Let's work on battle tactics!
>>2423677>>Let's just do some old-fashioned physical training to raise stats! jogging through the woods!
>>2423677>>Let's just do some old-fashioned physical training to raise stats!Core training WOO
>>2423677>>Let's work on battle tactics!Cubcoal has power.
>>2423677>Let's work on battle tactics!Moves and stat buffs are nice but when facing a stronger opponent tactics are what make a difference
Is the Nibdew hate a meme?>>2423606supporting
>>2423723he's the least popular of the three starters but yeah it' seems to be mostly banter.
>>2423677>Let's work on battle tactics!Plenty of anons seems to want to make use of more complex tactics, so this is probably best. Physical training can come later, and our moves are acceptably strong now.
>>2423723>>2423622>>2423612Holy shit I said that as a joke I didn't expect people to back it. Can we also give words of encouragement to Nibdew
>>2423677>>Let's work on battle tactics!Doesn't look like Cubcoal can do sustained fire breathing yet, so how about checking out just how well he knows his physical stuff. Is he strong enough for wrestling moves, or is he more of a speed guy who can lunge 2 steps forward just before a good Ember?
Since >Let's work on battle tactics!Seems to be the winning vote, we should probably devise some, you know, tactics. The obvious one would seem to be basic evasive maneuvers, since plenty of pokemon have ranged attacks. We should probably beat (Figuratively) the concept of zig-zagging on the approach when he's going for a scratch or another melee attack into him, to minimize risk of getting hit on his way in. Otherwise, not to sure. Teach him how to perform a German Suplex (This one is a joke (Maybe))? Or see if he can put out rapid fire embers, would be good for harassment
>>2423797long term, I'm wondering if he can do a low power, long duration ember. Something not intended to hurt(much), but to cover the eyes is very bright light and keep them blind.
>>2423797A tactic that always works is a good old ember in the face to blind the opponent then wail at them with scratch, pin them down, or suplex them We need a reliable way of dealing with flying opponents so I suggest working on aiming with rocks to make a little improv stone edge In it's dex entry it said it learns skills from other pokemon at a young age so we should get him to show us some
>>2423815Might be a bit sketchy. That sort of modification would sound more like creating a new move, which probably wouldn't work out, because Pokemon can only have four moves for some reason. Then again, I could be wrong.
>>2423817I used to have a cat that would wait outside in the driveway until a bird swooped at it, then it would leap up, grab the bird in mid air, and backflip-suplex it into the ground. This was just how it hunted. Every day.
>>2423821Pretty sure the anime tosses that logic and supports using moves in creative ways.Glacier seems to like how the anime does things so it wouldn't surprise me if he's on board with that.
>>2423822That sounds like the most badass cat ever way better than Fevine
>>2423838Is our future Electric-type going to ride our future Flying-type into a foe, using Thunder as armor?
>>2423964No because our future flying type IS our future electric type. It's already using the thunder as armor.Clearly best fandex
>>2423969Couldn't have said it myself. Chiwip is gonna be our first capture mark my words
>>2423969>>2423984Not gonna lie, mini-Zapdos would be a nice addition.>inb4 it never evolves and has Spark as its only learnable Electric move
>>2423997I'd actually would be fine with that I don't care if I have to grind this thing until it's lvl 100 to be viable I want to use the shit out of this mini Zapdos
>>2423969I, for one, welcome our new thunderbirb overlord.
>>2424023Hopefully we have the opportunity to catch one during our training powwow. I assume it's somewhat common, due to that lady researcher having two of them.
>>2424036That’s the third time my ID has changed. Would it be okay if I used a trip? I want any votes I make to be legit.
>>2424042No, you should samefag the way all of us cubcoal fags do.
>>2424042Just don't vote more than once.
>>2424036FOOL. We are obviously gonna fight (and catch the shit out of) the special leader Chiwip that is trying to get revenge for all the others we grinded on during our training once we're all trained up to prove how much we've improved.>>2424042I think a lot of people's id's are changing I doubt there's 47 people here it's probably more like 10-15 at most. I liked Fevine originally, but when the time came, I gained a greater appreciation for Cubcoal. It got to the point where I couldn't decide. So I didn't. I figured abstaining would be like a half-vote for each one.Part of what made my decision was that I felt Cubcoal would be a better foil for our trainer. I mean, he's 20 and he's just now going on his adventure, so he's a late bloomer. He's probably timid on the inside. So, he's got the most in common with Fevine, whereas Cubcoal is his conceptual opposite and can balance him out; be the yin to his yang.I like Fevine better and would have picked him if it were my journey for sure. But our nameless trainer is different. Also I seriously don't think Fevine's gonna join us later. We'll see his corpse from when he tried to join us but got attacked on the way. Or maybe if we're lucky, our rival will be Silver and he'll get chosen/stolen by an asshole and resent us for not choosing him and leaving him with a cruel trainer....Okay I actually regret not picking Fevine now. Also I made myself super sad.
>>2424480Why you do dis anon? You should not give Glacier ideas especially sad ones
>>2424480>Also I made myself super sad.Don't worry. I think you made everyone sad, so... at least you have company?
>>2423432This should be added to with each poke we catch/ evolve.
>>2424543Agreed. It'd be a cool way to show how far we've come.
>...Hey! You can't just go around stealing Pokemon that other people beat!>Oh! It's no problem. I didn't want it anyways.>Well, if you're just gonna catch it anyways you should give it to me.
>>2424588>Oh! It's no problem. I didn't want it anyways. She looks like she needed a few more hours of sleep.

>>2424588>I mean...>Your welcome?>I am not totally sure what you are supposed to do when you defeat a wild pokemon. That you do not want to capture.>Anyway... gonna go back to training now.
>>2424588>Oh! It's no problem. I didn't want it anyways. We have a superior fire type in Cubcoal. ....Also for a sec there I though Fevine DID managed to catch up to us.
>>2424588>charge her for it
>>2424588>I've already got a fire type but maybe we can hang out and swap tips on raising them
>>2424588>>Oh! It's no problem. I didn't want it anyways.Better than leaving it unconscious out in the open, I suppose. Might have got eaten.
>>2424588>I didn't want it, but...I don't know if your pokemon are going to respect you if you get them that way. You didn't even pay for it.

>>2424961>>2424963Well yeah that much is obvious but I'm not sure if she'll steal it the Prof. would probably just hand over a starter
>>2424968She'll steal it while ignoring the professor trying to give it and other items to her anyway.
>>2424763>>...Why are you asking? I don't wanna say. This is the most stranger danger situation I've seen since we met the professor on the train.
>>2425007Yeah, but that stranger danger ended with us getting a bitching new pokemon. So far, stranger danger has a net 100% positive rate.
>>2425007We gotta' set our rival up with Nibdew somehow.
>>2424998>Aspen and Seqouia walk into the lab and notice Nibdew has been stolen>"Oh god Aspen this is horrible">"That's an understatement. I didn't even get to give them a pokedex">Seqouia stares at Aspen in disappointment >Fevine cries because the thief didn't care about him enough to steal them >>2425012As is the world of Pokemon>>2425016I mean I wouldn't mind telling her if the context was different. We don't even know her name so it's reasonable to be suspicious of her motives. Plus this may lead into a battle for info so we can test our training
>>2424763>...Why are you asking? I don't wanna say.
>>2425022It's just some lady we ran into, there's no reason to suspect her of jack shit. Do you go into every social event thinking the people you're talking to are master thieves? They haven't done anything aside from pick up our trash, they haven't said anything weird. We have a rare, low-level Pokemon and we seem green behind the ears. Why shouldn't they be curious. Let's introduce ourselves if knowing their name is so important.
>>2425045Catching pokemon other people fainted is not normal social behavior, and also, she looks shifty, the human embodiment of someone in a hoodie at the night time.
>>2425055But anon, she's not black.
>>2425045I'm saying we should introduce ourselves and I'm not suspecting her of anything but you have to admit it's kinda sketchy too meet someone that looks that shifty alone in the middle of the woods so I don't think it's weird to ask why she wants to know and get a feel for things

>>2425226I assume you're talking about blue hair so the first one to come to mind is Dawn
>>2425239I thought we were just talking about Alola. If it's all the generations then offhand I'm really not sure, probably Caitlin.
>>2425250>CaitlinOh ok that narrows it down. Uh, the flying e4. Think her name was Khali

>I've never seen that Pokemon, let's scan it with the Dex.>Walk up and say Hi to it.>Is that your Pokemon? Can I pet it?
>>2425337>I've never seen that Pokemon, let's scan it with the Dex.Knawledge
>>2425337>I've never seen that Pokemon, let's scan it with the Dex.
>>2425337>>Is that your Pokemon? Can I pet it?Scanning is important, but headpats take priority.
>>2425337>Ya you look like you could use some sleep.>Would you happen to know professor [insert professor guy here]>Sorry if I came off as hostile. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to say. People can get pretty crazy about rare Pokemon.
>>2425337>Say hello to the little guy, then ask the trainer what type of Pokemon it isAnd keep a wary eye on Cubcoal, don't want him picking a fight with this new Pokemon
>>2425353>Implying that the dex won't tell us the ideal way to head pat it
>>2425374That would be the most useful feature of any pokedex. Extra incentive to find every pokemon; learn every style of headpat.
>>2425381I said it as a joke but now that you mention it waaay more people would actually try to fill the dex if that was a function
>>2425337>>I've never seen that Pokemon, let's scan it with the Dex.
>>2425289>Can't think of a worse girlDid you forget about Iris already?
>>2425372I support this suggestion. This shows we don't immediately bend to the will of strangers, but aren't overtly hostile.
>>2425455You're such a kid! It's not like you have years worth of pokemon experience, including making the semifinals of a pokemon league.
>>2425455I was talking about Alola and if you need to know yes I try to forget about Iris everyday>>2425469>Irisfag>References the B&W animeHow can you live with yourself
>>2425531I don't actually like Iris. SHe was just stupid annoying.
>>2425055>>2425066They don't look shifty, they look lazy and aloof. Jesus Christ, they've got the same eyes as the Professor. And really, them catching that Pokemon we beat is pretty altruistic, in a way. I mean, it's opportunistic for them, sure, they get a Pokemon with no effort required, but they're also taking care of the otherwise defenseless and vulnerable creature that would otherwise get scooped up by predators. It's not like she was lurking in the bushes, waiting for us to beat a Pokemon and stealing the catch out from under us. She saw an unconscious firerat, and said "Oh sweet free firerat. C'mere lil' guy, I've gotcha, you're good now." Pretty reasonable thing, here. You're blowing what little we know of her out of proportion.>>2425337>Introduce yourself>Ask to scan her Pokemon.
>>2425337I'll back this:>>2425372Also,>Who's that pokemon?!
Wouldn't the Pokedex kinda make it obvious who gave us Cubcoal?
>>2425592The majority of the anons here clearly think she looks shifty and she doesn't look like the the Prof. at all their faces are completely different. Besides the Prof. looks and acts like a kind old man and she looks like a druggie (imo). I agree what should did was reasonable but it's also reasonable to not tell some random shifty chick you met alone in the forest the name and location of the person who gave you a rare pokemon
>>2425372Seconding, then afterwards>I've never seen that Pokemon, let's scan it with the Dex.Pls let's introduce ourselves before we start waving technology in their faces, especially since doggo looks grumpy - also I guess professor connection is confirmed?
>>2425592It's the principle of just blabbing to a random stranger that the lab is giving out free rare pokemon. For all we know she could mention it to others and then the lab might be swamped with trainers wanting one for themselves too -way to endear us to them. Also if more people know Fevine might be given away before he can run away to join us
>Woah, really? I don't believe you.>That's cool, but I wouldn't call him an idiot.>What are you doing all the way out here then?
>>2425707>That's cool, but I wouldn't call him an idiot.Aspen is our bro

>>2425770Maybe it's cause she's tired but I think the eyes look totally different

>>2425337>>I've never seen that Pokemon, let's scan it with the Dex.This. Say nothing. Ask nothing. Scan and attempt headpat. We might get bit but who cares.
>>2425796Oh shit didn't see update.>>2425707>What are you doing here? Or this>>2425723When two trainers eyes meet they must battle. Its the law.
>>2425701Btw why no moves or abilities on Scruppy it isn't on battle mode is it
>>2425707>That's cool, but I wouldn't call him an idiot.>What are you doing all the way out here then? Also nice early doggo.
>>2425879The Pokedex doesn't reveal moves or abilities on Pokemon that belong to other people!
>>2426075Really? Then what's the difference between battle mode and normal mode
>>2426075Huh. Didn't the starters belong to other people when we used them? I mean I get that they were in our Party and all but they were still like, officially registered to the Professors.
>>2426106Oh yeah this is a good point to
>>2426106>>2426103I wish I had a good answer but really it's just lack of foresight on my part! Plot holes!
>>2426110Fair enough. It's only the second thread after all.>>2425707>What are you doing all the way out here then?
>>2426110 I demand another starter in reparation but props for admitting your mistake some qm's get pretty salty about that
>>2426106That was when the pokedex was registered to the professor still. So it could read the starters because they were of the same owner.
>>2426110My headcanon has always been that you need to connect the Pokeball that contains a Pokemon directly to the Pokedex to get info on it which is why you have to catch things to get the full info on them.Under that premise the Professor probably just told us to connect the balls to the dex, or better yet since it was his dex he had already done so.
>>2426252I always hated how you could only get info if you catch a mon. I perfer the whole scan thing from the anime more
>>2426264I don't mind either, I just want it to make sense in my head.
>Yeah, I don't mind if you tag along for a bit, just until Honeydrop Town, though!>I think it's better if I go on my own.>If you don't have anything better to do, we could journey around together for a while.
>>2426273>If you don't have anything better to do, we could journey around together for a while. As we all know, the first girl to travel with the MC in a new region = BEST GIRL
>>2426264With the level of info you get from scanning, one wonders how the pokedex doesn't already have all the info. It's like the professors already did the research and gatelocked the pokedex rather than the dex actually learning anything from scans.>>2426273>>I think it's better if I go on my own.gotta train cubcoal
>>2426273>Yeah, I don't mind if you tag along for a bit, just until Honeydrop Town, though!I'm fine if it's temporary but I don't want a permanent tag-along
>>2426273>If you don't have anything better to do, we could journey around together for a while.
>>2426273>If you don't have anything better to do, we could journey around together for a while.I don't want a tagalong either but I do want to get us some if we can.
>>2426273>If you don't have anything better to do, we could journey around together for a while. Now we just need to convince a gym leader to roll with us and the trifecta will be complete!
>>2426273>If you don't have anything better to do, we could journey around together for a while.May as well have some insurance in case Cubcoal gets taken down.
>>2426273>I think it's better if I go on my own
>>2426273>>Yeah, I don't mind if you tag along for a bit, just until Honeydrop Town, though!
>>2426279I'm changing to >I think it's better if I go on my own.because it has a better chance of winning and I really don't want a permanent companion>>2426285Her really? Meh to each their own I guess probably more waifus out there though>>2426293We could just catch a new mon
>>2426320>to each their ownI don't think she's waifu material, I just think she's hot enough to fug.
>>2426328You'll never fug her, though. At best you're getting a lap pillow while she feeds you crackers.
>>2426328Dude come this is pokemon our character is only Oh wait that's right he's 20 then hell yeah let's aim for that fug>>2426334That's oddly specifc
>>2426273>>If you don't have anything better to do, we could journey around together for a while.
>>2426337For no other reason than it's funny, my headcanon for her is that her first reaction in most cases is to try and feed things crackers. Which means, by extension, she probably always has crackers on hand. Are you lost? Have a cracker. Are you hurt? Have a cracker. Are you bored? Have a cracker. Are you a legendary pokemon? Have a cracker.
>>2426353I'm actually more partial to the poison gym leader.
>>2426374Roxie's the best I sent the Iris pic as a counter to your statement. Since Iris was the female companion in the anime according to what you were saying Iris = best girl and those 2 things can't go together

>>2427562>>2427521>>2427506I think Cubcoal is more glaring at her than glaring at him, he's probably jealous.
>>2427563Yeah but we should still apologize saying we were travelling by ourselves while he was right there was kinda a dick move.
>>2427598true, let's give him a treat too
Should we give Cubcoal a nickname? If so, what?
>>2427624No nicknames are gay
Nicknames are cool. Also we promised cub coal treat.
Nicknames are gay.
>>2427648This anon gets it
>>2427160>So, how'd you end up end up getting your Skruppy, are they common around here? Oh, and do they have a name?Speaking of which we really need to give Cubcoal a proper name, it is integral to the bonding process.
>>2427624Maybe something simple like sulfur or brimstone. Seems suitable for him given he's from a poisonous region and is a fire type plus it comes out of the ground which is a nice link for his potential secondary typing.
>>2427627>>2427648No nicknames makes you a basic bitch. Or an actual 9 nine year old. Ideally, we should wait until we get a little more of Cobcoal's personality beyond "Probably Tsun" and "Willing to fight God"
>>2427683A little too on the nose. Less of a name, and more just a word related to the species. Maybe Brenton, or just Brent, if we're just basing it off its species. It means "dweller by the burnt lands." >>2427691I agree with that, yeah. It's just something to keep in mind.
>>2427691Are you sure? That seems like all we need.
>>2427713On second thought. I can't really argue with that.>>2427683I'm a fan of Sulfur, since he's a little stinker.>>2427712Brenton is cool too, given the meaning. But it doesn't sound all that cool.
>>2427683I'm fine with Sulfer (He looks like a Sulfer imo) but Brimstone is a bit too edgy>>2427712He doesn't look like a Brent type of guy to me
>>2427736A bit cliche but what about ignis? Personally I'd like Prometheus but it's a bit if a mouthful.
>>2427767No thanks I hate the cliche use latin/greek language or mythology when naming stuff it's way to overused
>>2427767>Naming it after something that burnsWhy not just name it Gonorrhea then?
>>2427635Nicknames are only cool when they aren't meme names, and have actual thought put behind them.
>>2427762>>2427767>>2427818Yeah see, names that just show "this is a fire type," are lame. Sulfur, Ignis, those aren't *names,* they're rudimentary exercises in word association. It's like calling an electric type Sparky. It's childish and uncreative. I'm not saying we name him Jake or Brent or whatever but we can do better than fucking Blaze.
>>2427837True but it's Pokemon. Most nicknames are going to be either lazy word association or puns. The only other option aside from those you see is when it's just random letters thrown together to make a funny sounding name like Throngus.
>>2427837I'm fine with Sulfer cause it's not a commonly used name for a fire type (as opposed to blaze which literally every kid names their fire types) and it just fits Cubcoal (In the fact that he's from a poisonous area and that he looks like a Sulfer kinda guy imo). I would perfer if we just call him Cubcoal because it's a fitting and nice sounding name and I don't like nicknaming for the sake of nicknaming but if we had to name him something I'd rather it be something that isn't generic like Ignis or lame like Brent
>>2427624Let's call him Berserker because he's gonna be the strongest in the world.
>>2427878Yeah, personally I'd prefer he have a name, but I can get the desire to not force it needlessly. Waiting till we know more about his personality and then deciding a name might be the better choice. Out of the options thus far Sulfur's the only one which seems like a decent fit, that or maybe something based around a volcano given his explosive personality and unpredictable nature.
>>2427837How about doubling down on the fact it's a badger cub and call it something like Broch or Dachs?
>>2427940"Dachs" just means "badger" in German, so fuck off, and Broch is... some sort of ancient Irish stone building?
>>2427934If you want a bit of an obscure reference then what about Adahan? Though that works better if he's also a ground type.
>Yeah! I'm gonna challenge all the gym leaders.>I don't know yet. I think I'll just go with the flow for now.>Nah, I never really was interested in becoming a champion.
>>2427974>I don't know yet. I think I'll just go with the flow for now.Let's not lock anything this early on
>>2427974>I don't know yet. I think I'll just go with the flow for now.>I mean I'll probably challenge the leader in Honeydrop, but more for the fun of it rather than some big goal.
>>2427974>I don't know yet. I think I'll just go with the flow for now.Depending on how those research projects go it might be fun to go the poke proof route.
>>2427992I'm not sure about going full prof. route but it might be fun to fill the pokedex and try to meet every new pokemon
>>2427974>I don't know yet. I think I'll just go with the flow for now.
Honestly I think the clear route is to join whatever local villain team is in this area, that or make our own. If there are multiple options we choose whichever has the coolest outfit.
>>2428022With how many teams are running around in Pokemon it feels like there's more criminals than people.I'd back it though as long as the teams are either interesting or not blatantly mustache twirling evil doers.
>>2427974>I don't know yet. I think I'll just go with the flow for now.Becoming a professor would be really cool actually
>>2428022Playing the villian could be fun and wouldn't be too crazy a leap what with us going into the forest and beating shit up for experience but it's a slight stretch and I doubt other anons would go for it. A reasonable middle ground would be something like Kazuma from Konosuba where we're kind of a scumbag and do stuff like fight children and take their money or something
>>2428031Blatant mustache twirling I can handle, I'm more worried about ham-fisted philosophy. And clearly most local economies are reliant on their team of choice, they are the single biggest employers, they need to pay for custom designed flashy uniforms, and they even keep the local trash pokemon population from expanding out of control. When you think about it they are the unsung heroes.
>>2427974>>I don't know yet. I think I'll just go with the flow for now.
>>2428040What I meant by blatantly evil is those teams actively working towards the end of the world. This usually includes hamhanded philosophy.Teams like team rocket are fine for the reasons you described.
>>2427974>I don't know yet. I think I'll just go with the flow for now.We need to do enough gopher work to convice the profs that we're worthy of Fevine. Also she's totally the champion right. Explains why she's a forest hobo if she's trying to escape the limelight.
>>2428058If you meet a mysterious and friendly stranger soon after you start your journey, odds are pretty good it's someone really important.
>>2428062Well she's the Aspen's sis and possible companion that seems important enough for me

>>2428137It's like if Natu had Zapdos' typing. Zaptu.
>Yell at the other Chiwip for kicking him out.>Kneel down and offer to help Chiwip.
>>2428816>Kneel down and offer to help Chiwip.
>>2428816>Kneel down and offer to help Chiwip.Incidentally how intelligent are Pokemon in this quest? Are we on anime level "you can make a complex and intelligent argument to one" or are they closer to animal intelligence?
>>2428816>Kneel down and offer to help Chiwip.Make sure he's ok then>Yell at the other Chiwip for kicking him out.Because they're being total dicks right now
>>2428831Definitely the anime I doubt they could understand the human language or commands if they weren't at least that intelligent
>>2428816>>Kneel down and offer to help Chiwip.
>>2428816Holy crap that birb in the background is huge. That a thunderbird?
>>2428911 It's Zapdos
>>2428921Too short beak.As long as it's an Angry Bird, a Chiwip is fine too.
>>2428930 It's the Maho equivalent of alolan forms
>>2428974The idea of a considerable percentage of Pokémon being Totem-esque in size and power is both terrifying and awesome.Come to think of it, I've heard sometimes the anime had examples of Pokémon much, much bigger than normal (like that fuck-off Tentacruel), so it wouldn't be unusual for this story to follow suit.
>>2428816>Yell at the other Chiwip for kicking him out.
>>2429020I can see something on the scale of totems but not something as ridiculous as the Tentacruel thing. The anime can be pretty retarded at times like the Tentacruel thing or that one Ghastly episode where he fused Blastoise and Venusaur
>>2429084I think the fusion was an illusion.
>>2428816>>Kneel down and offer to help Chiwip.Eyy, free Pokemon.
>helping strange pokemonI know better
>>2428844I think the games and some other non-anime derivative works take a median approach between "needs to be trained to understand basic orders" and "capable of complex thought".
>>2429250But in the games you can use pokemon right after they hatch and they take orders just fine.
>>2429279In gens 2 and 3 freshly hatched Pokemon were also higher level than the things you'd find on the first route of each game. You have to make some allowances for game mechanics imo.
>>2429412Yeah I agree with that pokemon wouldn't be fun if everything made sense I was just pointing out that your statement about pokemon having to train to understand basic orders make no sense in the games at least because they all follow orders perfectly as soon as you get them (granted you have enough badges)
>>2429423I was saying that it takes a middle ground between those two stances. They're assumed to be intelligent enough to understand basic speech and orders but not intelligent enough to think on the same level as a primate. The anime makes them as smart or smarter than humans though.
>>2429279This is true even in Mystery Dungeon. One of the ways to get new party members is by having other pokemon dump their unborn children on you as a reward.
>Hey! Knock that off Cubcoal!>Ignore him, you're totally welcome with us.>Ah, if you two can't get along then maybe this isn't a good idea.
>>2429450>Hey! Knock that off Cubcoal!>Ignore him, you're totally welcome with us.
>>2429450>>Hey! Knock that off Cubcoal!>>Ignore him, you're totally welcome with us.
>>2429450>You can't let Cubcoal bully you, though. You gotta stand up for yourself!
>>2429471This is also good advice we should do this. At the very least it'll be cute to watch Chiwip try and defend himself
>>2429471>>2429480imo we can work on this once it actually joins us. Don't want to accidentally bully it off.
>>2429471>>2429480>you can't let cubcoal bully you! Stand up for yourself!>Encourage Chiwip to stand up for itself>Cubcoal beats it into paste>Well, that was both inevitable and unfortunate.>No one could have seen this coming, or prevented such a tragic thing.>Pokeball it and keep going. And this is how we recruited Chiwip!
>>2429491>Such is life of thunderbirb.
>>2429491>>2429500it's a neat poke from a lore standpoint, but it sounds like it's cursed with being a common underpowered schmuck.something something, at least it's not magikarp.

>>2429505At least it's not Nibdew.
>>2429505Not every early mon is complete garbage.Sure they're not all as powerful as ones you get later but that doesn't make them not worth using. And Electric/Flying is pretty dang good typing
>>2429520Here's hoping he can live with our little firestarter
>>2429520Yeah Talonflame kicked ass my whole play through so I have high hopes for Chiwip. And his typing is perfect it covers Cubcoals water weakness
>>2429528but shares his weakness to rock, 4x actually, we need a grass type. Something like a feline. A grass feline.
>>2429540Where would we find a pokemon that perfect? How could we ensure that it was loyal to a fault and cuddly?
>>2429540Electric isn't weak to rock, it's only 2x and grass doesn't resist it so that doesn't help us survive a rock throw.
>>2429544ok 2x, but that still means we are just increasing the amount of rock weakness we have, which is far less productive. Also, yes, yes not having a 2x weakness helps us survive a rock throw. And killing a rock type with a 2x STAB grass move also helps us survive a rock through.
>>2429540It only has a x2 weakness to Rock and Ice, it's weakness to Electric is negated due the Electric typing, and it's weakness to Ground is negated due to the Flying type. Type-wise, it's good defensively. Stat-wise, that's to be seen.
>>2429450>Stand up to him Chewey!>Otherwise he will never respect you.
>Nah, I'm not that scared. I think people are overreacting.>Yeah I'm a bit nervous, but I think my Pokemon will keep me safe!>No, I'm terrified, but you know, gotta keep a smile on my face!
[managed to get an update out before bed! See you all tomorrow!]
>>2430290>>No, I'm terrified, but you know, gotta keep a smile on my face!
>>2430290>I mean I wasn't, but the more people talk about Maho the more I begin to suspect I'm naive and should be very scared. Hopefully my new friends and I can keep each other safe.We definitely need to circle back and make sure the scenario of Fevine escaping and dying alone doesn't occur, especially with wild fire types around here.
>>2430290>Yeah I'm a bit nervous, but I think my Pokemon will keep me safe!

>>2430290>Yeah I'm a bit nervous, but I think my Pokemon will keep me safe!>>2430357Anon pls - though the Munkit only raged at us because we bumbled onto his tail. I think Fevine would be a bit more graceful than that...But if we ever get to go back to the lab let's try to persuade Prof to give us Fevine for extra. extra safety.
>>2430290>Why is Maho so scary?>I literally just got off the bus.
>>2430290>im really a soulless puppet controlled by an internet hivemind of egocentric megalomaniacs that direct my every move.
>>2430431I certainly hope so, it is too early to tell whether this is going to be the happy sort of pokemon adventure where nothing overly bad ever happens, or the sort where there can be real consequences. Either could be a lot of fun, but until we have a solid feel for the tone I'd rather not risk poor Fevine. The fact that people keep warning us about Maho being wild and untamed, dangerous, and deserving of fear certainly make a darker tone possible even if it isn't full on gritty realism.>>2430517Aren't we all?
>>2430290>>Yeah I'm a bit nervous, but I think my Pokemon will keep me safe! Also, now that we've dealt with our rude interruption, can we ask about the Honeydrop gym leader again?

>>2430290>It's not as scary if I hadn't had a loyal fluffy feline with me.>Oh wait>Nope. Completely terrified.
I can't believe you people are STILL bitching about Fevine.
>>2430563Shhh anon. If they hear you talking about them they might try to talk to you. You don't want them getting their loser tears all over you

>>2430667If a 8th grade giant bullies a 3rd grade kid and you tell the 3rd grade kid to stand up for himself and he gets his ass beat you don't punish the 3rd grader for being a bitch you punish the 8th grader for being an asshole
>>2430690>8th grade bully>3rd grade bitch>You encouraged the twig to make themselves a mouthy target>Proceed to be upset when the most obvious possible result immediately plays out, because one's a 3rd grade bitch and the other's an 8th grade bully.Putting aside the fact they're probably around the same level anyway and it's more a matter of temperament, did anyone expect a DIFFERENT result? Does anyone actually think this is going to improve relationships when Cubcoal sits there internalizing that you're just going to tell things to stand up to it, then scold it when it bickers with them?Recall Cubcoal's dex entry mentioned it learns how to fight when it's a kid by following its pack around and roughhousing/bickering back and forth. What are ya'll trying to accomplish here by telling it that it's natural development habits aren't "nice" enough?
>>2430697What else would we tell the 3rd grader? "oh just let him steal your lunch money everyday and starve bitch". That won't help anything it'll just let the bully know that bullying the kid is an easy and effective way of making money. So you tell the kid to try and make it seem less easy. Then once he beats up the bully and shows that he'll refuse to back down an authority figure (We're the authority figure in this situation) punishes the 8th grader. Of course we're gonna get upset. Do you expect us to be like "Well that was probably gonna happen so it's ok". That's like saying the government should not get upset about people getting stabbed because it's obvious that will happen eventually you give everyone access to knives .
>>2430747>Of course we're gonna get upset.>Do you expect us to be like "Well that was probably gonna happen so it's ok". You are literally encouraging a kid to get into a fight with a bigger kid, then being a full grown adult picking a fight with a kid because the fight you were the catalyst for starting didn't go the way you wanted. Encouraging them to stand up for themselves is both fine and correct, but you know exactly what's gonna happen. And that's ignoring that these are two entirely different species and you failed to address the fact that this is natural, normal and healthy for Cubcoal.>That's like saying the government should not get upset about people getting stabbed because it's obvious that will happen eventually you give everyone access to knives .Somehow I don't recall any government encouraging anyone to stand up to people with knives and/or guns, because it's really obvious that'll go down in a very predictable manner. The advice in those situations has been to keep your head down and escape, and whatever you do, DON'T provoke them. Yes, go find an authority figure, but don't pick a fight and THEN go running to one, that's stupid.
>>2430697>What are ya'll trying to accomplish here by telling it that it's natural development habits aren't "nice" enough?Chiwip aside we're kind of doing that already by telling him he needs to listen to us more. His natural habitat is literally toxic so he needs that upbringing to survuve but right now he can and needs to mellow down since his environment is different, he'll never stop being hotheaded but we need him to at least learn to play nice with us and others since we might face tag team battles down the line and we don't want the rest of our pokemon to be on edge around him.
>>2430772There's a nature vs nurture debate in here, and you're right that the environment isn't as harsh. On the other hand, that doesn't change its nature any, and we should be providing it an outlet for that energy and inherent aggression rather than just lecturing it and going "You need to be nicer". You can't just whole-heartedly ignore one side of the equation, and that's exactly what's happening here.
>>2430697I don't think you know what roughhousing is, or bickering. Look up a video of wolf cubs playing and then you might get it. Anyway, Cubs doing neither of those, he's just being a bit of a shit.
>>2430796This is more condescending than contributive to the conversation in any manner, but I'm not going to keep arguing the point. It's clear that I'm the minority here, so carry on. I doubt how we handle it will make any difference in the long run, anyway.
>>2430789>we should be providing it an outlet for that energy and inherent aggression rather than just lecturing it and going "You need to be nicer"That's what battles are for, it helps out team in literally no way if he takes it out on our other pokemon.
>>2430811I apologise, I definitely could have worded that better. Still, you get what I mean. This behaviour feel less animalistic and more like human personality stuff. Even most of the similes used to describe it have been human in nature, not animal.
>>2430771We never told the 3rd grader to get into a fight. We told him to tell the 8th grader he won't give him his lunch money anymore. Once he assaults the child with physical force we punish him for not abiding by the laws. And just cause we know this is a likely scenario doesn't make it any less bad (much like in my gun example). You could also argue that it's only natural for a big kid to try and make easy money off of a weak but that doesn't make it anymore justified because he's ignoring rules that society or social space needs to function properly. And as for the gun thing It was solely addressing the argument that because it's likely to happen that means it's ok and you shouldn't be punished for it
>>2430872>>2430771you lot are acting like these are kids in a playground when you should be acting like these are our little brothers/ kids desu, they're not going anywhere after they stop fighting, they're with us now. Playground rules don't apply with siblings.
>>2430908I was only using the example because he mentioned playground rules first and I know that it isn't the same exact thing as a playground. But I wouldn't compare their relationship to that of siblings they just met and are not really used to the fact that they'll be together for a while now. It's more like the older kid from a foster home bullying the new shy kid
what an autistic argument
>>2430517Hah. I like that.
>Sure! Might as well check it out!>Nah, I'm pretty good on supplies, so I'll pass.
>>2431746>Sure! Might as well check it out!
>Sure! Might as well check it out!Maybe we'll get to buy some cool treats for our rad bros while we're there. Besides, it seems like Jess is kind of nudging us there with the intent of dropping us off there. She probably wants to go back to doing forest hobo stuff. Even if she isn't and stays with us while we're there, there's probably a phone. We can call up her bro, let him know how we're doing, possibly let them chat.
>>2431746>>Sure! Might as well check it out!
>>2431766I might be wrong but didn't he say we call him using the Pokedex? We should be able to call him whenever we want
>>2431746>>Sure! Might as well check it out!Heal up bird with that sweet universal healthcare.
>>2431805Found da pic
>>2431842Sweet, I forgot that detail. The only thing that could make this 'Dex better is if it gets a Rotom inside it.Yes, I unironically like the Rotom-Dex in Sun/Moon. plz no bully

>>2432538>>Stop by the mart.
>>2432538>>Stop by the mart.We should also get Chiwip looked at
>>2432538>>Stop by the mart.Huh, I guess it makes sense that people would bring their Pokemon over from other regions.
>>2432538>Stop by the mart. Also scan the shit out of that Dieno I want to know if it has a new Maho dex entry
>>2432538>Stop by the mart.Scan the Whimsicott, Deino, and if it works the Baltoy on TV? Then have Chiwip looked at.
>>2432595Does the Pokedex even through TV's. Like has that ever happened in the anime it's been forever since I've watched it
>>2432668That's why I said "if it works the Baltoy on TV?", to find out. It might. Who knows.
>>2432538>Stop by the mart>Did we ever get cub coal his treat?>Maybe a cheap held item or toy?
>That's a rude way to say "Excuse me".>Oh, sorry I'll move aside.>Don't move, just stand in his way without saying anything.[Cole did scan the Pokemon for data purposes, but I didn't bother making Maho entries for them, so I didn't draw the entries!]

>>2433459I see this hardy looking gal has gained our attention. There's no way she is NOT a potential rival.Ask her if she will smell us later.
>>2433459>That's a rude way to say "Excuse me".
>>2433459>Sure.>Scooch out of her way.>No need to be rude in turn.
>>2433459since QM mentioned this world being more similar to the anime, i wonder if we can find some kind of mutation.siamese eevee twins would be awesome if we could evolve them separately for a dual element monster
>>2433573That would be terrifying
>>2433459>That's a rude way to say "Excuse me".Good day rival trainer
>>2433578more like awesome. Imagine a two headed umbreon/vaporeon hybrid with warped faces
Rolled 45 (1d100)>>2433459On a nat 100 I say we find an egg
>>2433614Nah sorry I'm okay with a mutated Pokemon to a point but not something like that, I'd liked something like alolan forms it'd be kind of cool if Glacier would do a dual typing Eeveelution
>>2421401Glacier how far have you gone into the making of pokemon? do you have the fossils mons made yet?
>>2433459>That's a rude way to say "Excuse me".I didn't expect the Fevine rival to be so edgy
>>2433459>That's a rude way to say "Excuse me"
>>2433459>>That's a rude way to say "Excuse me".
>>2433760But the rival would get Nibdew because type advantage. That's been true since gen 1
>>2433573I'd love a mareep line that had much larger horns and swapped its physical and special attack. Then it could actually use Thunderpunch again, that used to be its thing.
>>2433459>Hi, my name's Cole, what's yours?
>>2433459>>That's a rude way to say "Excuse me"Screw you and the horse you rode in on, kid.
>>2433800You think this Edgelord looking kid would pick Nibdew, a lazy looking beaver, over the stealthy, shadowy cat Pokemon from the depth of one of the most dangerous regions of Maho?
>>2433800There have been plenty of times where there have been 2 rivals which picked the other 2 so that you're weak to 1 rival but strong against the other. And in Sun & Moon there was only 1 rival that just picked the one that's weak to yours
>Oh, sorry I'll move aside.
>>2433862Yes, because Edgelords are lazy bastards who do nothing but complain in a melodramatic style
>>2433995Yeah but edgelords always try to look cool so why would they choose the lame looking one
>>2433459>Oh, sorry I'll move aside.Don't want an edgy rival
>>2434062Do you prefer the happy-go-lucky annoying "friend" rival instead. I mean I'll take Silver over Cheren, Bianca, and the 3 amigos from xy any day
>>2434090Having the rival be an edgelord isn't bad, as long as they have a good backstory and aren't in HILARIOUSLY MAXIMUM OVEREDGE territory.
>>2434090I'll take anyone over Barry and the 3 amigos but I liked Bianca's and Cheren's arcs. And Green was better than Silver without being edgy.
>>2434100What about a Paul? would you want a Paul rival?
>>2434100I can agree with that but why do you assume they are "maximum edge overdrive" and don't have a backstory. Sure they look edgy but we just met them and they were kinda rude that's it. >>2434133I preferred Barry over Cheren and Bianca but that could just be I'm a gen 4 fag. There arcs didn't really do anything for me (especially Bianca) and were completely overshadowed by best boy N.And I didn't like BLUE (That's the only acceptable name) as much as Silver. He's up there on my rivals list but he was just kind of there to battle the player, lose, talk about how badass he is, and leave. He didn't feel like a character to me more of a force of nature unlike Silver who felt like an actual character. Don't get me wrong the simplicity of BLUE is nice but Silver left more of an impression on me >>2434150Paul was based. When I watched the anime as a kid and we first saw him catch 3 Starly's and pick the best one I knew that fucker doesn't play games. I also liked how best ash on a consistent basis so he could back his ideologies and ways of doing things up with hard facts. Him and Alain were the best anime rivals but I prefer Paul because he was the anime equivalent to Silver
Having an edgy rival would be hilarious tbqh. Pokemon protagonists never take advantage of it, mostly because they’re all mute or nice kids like Ash, but we are going to wage psychological WARFARE against this kid if he picks a fight with us. We even have the age advantage. It’s going to be even funnier if he picked Fevine.
>>2434389No bully the chunni

>>2435027>Yeah, bring it on.Whatshisface ain't no bitch
>>2435027>Yeah, bring it on.>But let's take it out of the lodge first, I'm being generous here to spare you having an audience to your defeatHe is talking about a pokemon battle right

>>2435027>>2435089>Hey buddy I think you have the wrong door, the edge club's two blocks down
>>2435027>Yeah, bring it on.I wanna see the new Pokemon he has on his team.
>>2435051I just realized that he's probably talking about a Pokemon Battle but I'm still sticking to my answer because Cubcoal just came out of a battle and we haven't had time to heal him yet. I don't want him to fight especially if he has class disadvantage.
>>2435027>Yeah, bring it on.
>>2435140Eh, we can just give Cubcoal a potion or an Oran berry, he’ll be fine.
>>2435140Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Cubcoal took any damage from that fight and if you're worried about stamina I think it's been enough time for him to recover. But if you're still concerned we could always give him a berry to hold or something. Also I know it doesn't cover all of his weaknesses but we got Chiwip for any water types and ground and rock types usually don't appear this early in the game
>>2435193We are 2 steps above the guy who talks shit to you and all hes packing is a level 3 wurmple. The chances this guy has more/stronger pokemon is almost 100%.
>>2435812I don't know he seems like a guy who gets angry easy and picks fights even if he can't back it up (in classic edge lord fashion). Starter Pokemon are pretty strong and I doubt he's got incredibly strong Pokemon this early on because that would be kinda bullshit and not fun at all from a gameplay standpoint. plus even if we do lose it'll make things interesting as long as it isn't a bullshit "You couldn't really do anything to fight back" type of loss
>>2435812He's probably new, like us. I don't think glacier would pit us against some experienced trainer with a team of level 30 Pokemon or anything like that.
>>2435027Also, my vote's>>Yeah, bring it on.Gonna crush this cocky kid.
>>2435925To be fair Cole and Cubcoal are just as cocky as them. Chiwip's on the complete opposite side of the spectrum though so it kinda cancels out
>>2435027>>This isn't worth it, let's drop it.
chwip is still hurt, and cubcoal might be too, but, BRING IT THE FUCK ON

>>2436907>>2436916A public imgur gallery is probably the way to go.Public so you can find it on google.
>Cubcoal, let's go!>Chiwip! It's your time to shine!
>>2436994>Chiwip! It's your time to shine!
>>2436994>Chiwip! It's your time to shine!TYPEADVANTAGE
>>2436994Chiwip seems the obvious choice. Spark should be effective, and I don't think Electric is weak to Poison or Flying.
>>2436994How old is this guy? I can't really tell.
>>2436994>Chiwip! It's your time to shine!>>2437003It has type advantage being weak to neither of the opponent's types and having the electric advantage over flying.I'm nervous sending it out without getting a chance to talk or train with it first though. We didn't even get to see it in battle when we caught it, we have absolutely no idea what it can do.
>>2437008True, but we may as well break it in now. No time like the heat of battle to test it's mettle. Besides, should be able to pull through with the edge in type.
>>2437008We could always give it the pre-battle prep talk about how he should give it his all and believe himself and no matter what She's our bro. And then cue edgy comments about how friendship is worthless from the rival
>>2437018I doubt this guy's gonna provide us with the time to give a pep talk. We'll just cheer it on as we fight.
>>2437031It'll take what 10 seconds. Even if he doesn't like it whats he gonna do stab us? Poor baby can wait a couple seconds I'm gonna encourage my qt bird if it's the last thing I do
>>2437047Attack Chiwip while we've got him distracted hyping him up? He seems rude enough to do that.
>>2437060Fair point but I think he's more likely to just talk shit about how friendship is for normies like the edgelord he is or whatever but even if he doesn't I think at least trying to prep talk Chiwip is better than just telling him to go and fight and having her choak mid-battle.
>>2436994>>Cubcoal, let's go!Chiwip can't do it on his own, Cubcoal needs to soften him up(or win).
>>2437121Cubcoal seema like our ace wouldn't it make more sense to have Chiwip soften them up. Like something along the lines of taking out Scramprey and then using thunderwave so that Cubcoal can sweep if anything happens to Chiwip
This was an incredibly stupid fight.
>>2437138Agreed. We should be out catching more pokemon. Don't get into a trainer fight until you have 3 mons!
>>2437145Well we could've had three but we chose not to. Nothing we can do now considering we're already fighting this guy.
>>2437145A lot of the 1st gym leaders have 2 Pokemon so I don't think it's too ridiculous. I meam I doubt he's gonna have 3 mons let alone have all 3 be strong. And if you're really worried we could probably give them both a berry to give us a little bit of an edge
>Dodge, then Peck!>Dodge, then Thunder Wave!>Dodge, then Spark![3 rolls of 1d100! If it's a high enough roll you'll successfully dodge and attack, but if not you'll take the hit and still attack.]
Rolled 50 (1d100)>>2437263
[Also! Totally forgot to include this in the Dex entry, Scamprey has poison needles all over its body, so be careful! (just pretend it was in the entry!)]
>>2437267>>2437268thank god I didn't call my attack yet then, I pick >Dodge, then Thunder Wave!
Rolled 50 (1d100)>>2437263>Dodge, then thunderwave! Also fuck, he's actually pretty hot
Rolled 49 (1d100)>>2437263>Dodge, then Thunder Wave!
These dice rolls fill me with fear.
>Dodge! Then Peck!>Dodge! Then Spark![Roll 3 more 1d100s! Pray for Chiwip!]
Rolled 41 (1d100)>>2437328>>Dodge! Then Spark!
Rolled 24 (1d100)>>2437328>>Dodge! Then Spark!
Rolled 36 (1d100)>>2437328 Dodge then Peck
Rolled 25 (1d100)>>2437328>>Dodge! Then Spark!
>>2437335>>2437336>>2437337[holy shit you guys...]
>I do not understand how people are surprised by this outcome. At all.>Withdraw Chiwip.>The enemy has poisonous quills idiots. Physical attacks are a terrible idea.
>>2437351[I wasn't able to reveal the poisonous needles part until AFTER they chose Chiwip...so part of it's my fault.]
This is 4chan. These people play pokemon. They should know switching out is a viable strategy. Especially with a status effect pokemon.
Here's hoping Cubcoal can make use of that paralyze
>>2437353.>>2437351Aren't we already poisoned? So Poison quills won't give us a second Poison effect...
>>2437387Might be more of a Rough Skin situation than Poison Point.
Hrm, well, bad rolls are bad rolls, I guess. Nothing to be done. Hopefully Cubcoal can bring it back.
>>2437358>>2437351Switching out of poison is stupid. The scamprey will get a chance to poison both our pokemon, and we lose type advantage. We do what damage we can and hope for better rolls, no reason to give a free attack. Also, we haven't used physical attacks. We just failed to dodge because of dice.
Also, what is with people saying this is a bad idea. This is a pokemon quest, you battle people in pokemon, sometimes you lose, and that's okay. It's not like we jumped into a hole filled with angry sevipers who are filling us with venom as we speak.
>>2437567Maybe I wanted to do that
>>2437567We admittedly might have jumped into it a bit early, though I still stand by my choice to do so. Besides, it's not like the consequences will be all that severe if we lose. Some kid gets to act slightly smugger then he is already. Big deal
>>2437570Chiwip got hurt because our recklessness altho it was mostly super shitty luck we need to heal her as soon as we can and treat her to something nice when all this is over.
>>2437577Actually, can’t we just apply a potion right now? Or is that just a game thing?
