Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as circumstances warrant.Combat mechanics involve three rolls of 1d100, taking the best, and using the base accuracy and crit ranges of the the PTU system, roughly, but the 'turn order' will be more like the anime, where sometimes you can do a few moves in a row or be hit by a combo of moves yourself, all depending on circumstances. Stronger moves tend to take more time and have more cooldown than weaker moves and also may leave you open to an interrupt, so beware of that timing. Speed is more important for closing ground, intercepting, and other things and doesn't necessarily mean going first.Pokemon and trainers are unique, and may have certain specializations, skills, or other things that the video-game mechanics might not allow. Some examples: That kung fu Bellsprout in the anime, that crystal Onix, or a Roggenrolla that can fly. Herb's perception skills, pokemon knowledge, context clues in general, and other things will hopefully come into play to avoid completely unfair, unforeseeable bullshit, but expect more bullshit from more advanced trainers.Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture, mostly likely a butt.Pokemon:Gobble (Munchlax)Mace (Roggenrola)Belladonna (Roserade)Dice (Croconaw)Sorbet (Vulpix)Location: Kontote island; a small campsite near a Miltank ranchRecently: You reach your stamina limits and are forced to rest, and had some very complicated discussions about your relationship with Laki and Hana
Big juicy Laki butt
“Come to bed. Snuggle. We’ll figure it out.”A mountain of stress slides right off of Laki’s strong shoulders. “Okay Soft Hands. That sounds nice.”“Gardevoir better not make any funny faces while you degenerates make up.” Abigail says as your group makes it's way inside the tent. You, Hana, and Laki talk deep into the night, forming and reforming a messy cuddle pile.“Guess I’ll start. Relationships, serious ones, take a lot of work. That’s what I was raised to believe. This isn’t just a fling for me.” You state. You feel like you shouldn’t have to, but that brings you to your next point. “I want communication to be open, and any problems we have discovered and worked out. That’s why I’d want to live together before marriage. making sure you and Hana have a healthy relationship, whatever it is or is supposed to be, is important to me.”“Well, that is important.” Laki says. “We get along pretty great though. Oh, uh, sorry about the sucker punch.”Hana lifts her shirt a little to show a small bruise forming. “It’s fine. I was pretty over the line.”“No. You were right. Perfectly right. And I lashed out.” Laki sighs. “Promise you’ll still always tell me what I need to hear?”“Well you hit me again if I do?” Hana jokes, a little uncomfortable.“I’ll try.” Laki jokes back. “Give it a shot again. Tell me something I don’t want to hear.”Hana refuses at first, but Laki keeps bugging her into it. “Okay fine. You sometimes snore in your sleep.”Laki opens her mouth to say something, but only a small “huh” comes out. “That’s not so bad. Okay. I can handle hearing that.”“Do me next.” Hana says. “Come on.”“You’re a pervert.” Laki says very quickly and flatly.“Well.” Hana laughs a little. “Not exactly something I wasn’t aware of. But I don’t mind being called that by you.”“That’s what I’m talking about.” Laki says, still flat. “You’re getting off to me calling you a pervert, aren’t you? It’s something you’ve got to work on hiding better if we have a bunch of kids running around one day.”A bunch?Hana hesitates and looks around for a distraction. “Hey! Herb’s turn.”(continued)
>>2375449“Oh yeah. Soft Hands.” Laki says, turning her attention to you. Even Belladonna seems to gang up on you here, crawling onto Laki’s shoulders to stare an answer out of you. “You said you wanted communication. So, communicate. Tell us each something that we don’t want to hear.”“Anything?” You regret even asking that question as soon as it leaves your mouth?”Laki’s smile turns to a frown and she punches you in the arm. “Why? You got a lot to say?”“Say something you’d want us to work on, if you need to narrow it down.” Hana helps, stealing Laki’s punching arm and wrapping it around herself. Laki looks a little embarrassed and just lets things stay that way.>You two say something about me, first>Say something about Hana first>Say something about Laki first>This is a silly game, let’s go to sleep>Something else

[Sorry about the delay.]
“Okay.” You relent, turning to Hana first. She’s more patient with this sort of thing. In fact, a little overly accepting of this. “Hana.”Hana looks at you expectantly. There’s no pleading in her eyes for mercy. If anything, there’s an eagerness there. An implicit permission and agreement in her eyes to take what you say seriously as long as you don’t abuse the trust she’s putting into it by letting herself be out there.“I can take it.” She says. “I mean, I got pretty mouthy with Laki back there. I do cause a lot of trouble.”You’d never consider her trouble. And the way laki rolls her eyes at the statement, she seems to agree. Hana sees herself as a burden and doesn’t want to make a big impact on those around her. Nobody else sees her that way though.>”When you said you'd have been okay if I wanted to keep you a secret, it scared me. Thing about Hana, she can endure a lot, but she really shouldn't have to.
“Well.” You aren’t sure the best way to start. So you’ll just lay it out there. ”When you said you'd have been okay if I wanted to keep you a secret, it scared me. I don't want you to let me treat you badly or disrespect you like that.”“Oh.” She thinks for a moment. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to worry you.”“No no.” Laki squishes her. “No ‘sorry’ on this. He’s right. You treat yourself like garbage if it’s for Herb.”“I do not!” She protests.“Soft Hands. Would you get turned on if Hana literally ate that dirt on the ground over there while I stick that Never Melt Ice in her butt?”“Har har.” Hana says, unusually sarcastic. “I value myself. I mean, I felt really bad about all the dents Robin found. These things aren’t free.” She flexes her hand.“That’s not you.” Laki says.“It sort of is.” Hana shoots back. “Well, despite the replacements every once in awhile. It’s part of my everyday life. Some people have an ugly signature sweater or hair accessory or something, I got accessories that weigh a little more.”“About clothes...” you start, figuring you might as well add this in. I”“Well whatever.” Laki overpowers your sentence. “The point Soft Hands is obviously making is that you’ve got to value yourself.” Laki says.“I know.” Hana looks down. “Look, I know you were joking about that ice thing, but if-”“I don't want you to let me treat you badly or disrespect you like that, unless it’s lewd.” You add on.“No.” Laki puts the idea down here and now.“But if it’s not something you like we can use a safeword.” You say. You want to please Hana but you suddenly feel terrible at just the idea of putting her down, even if that tickles her truffle.”“We use pineapple.” Laki says with authority.“Yes sir.” Hana shoots you a fun smile. She’s still got Laki’s arm around her though. Looks like Laki isn’t getting that back any time soon. “Thanks. I’ll try to pay more attention to that and work on it.”“Lay it on me next.” Laki says. “I’m a big girl.”>Wait, Hana, it doesn't sound like you took that too seriously>She’s way too quick to violence>Violence wouldn’t be an issue if her temper were more in check. Also:I think that we should really make sure Hana gives us something good, no weavile-ing out of it. That way she knows we're serious. Make sure she asks something of us we weren't going to do anyways, or complains about something non-trivial.
>>2375982>You could absolutely transform her with a feminine makeover but you’re scared of the issues it’d bring up>She’s too afraid to expose her sensitive side>Violence wouldn’t be an issue if her temper were more in check. Those anger issuesAll of those are valid criticisms but let's pace this a little.
Bella and Laki both give you the same expecting eyes. Bella’s are more innocent; she’s listening to she can learn. What you demonstrate will set the tone for what’s normal in her life.“Well...”“Well, come on.” Laki says, letting her hand rest on Hana’s surprisingly hard abs. “It’s about me getting rough with people, right?”“Well, yeah. You do get too violent too quickly.” You begin.“See? Not so hard. I know it.” She says. “No problem. I accept that as something I need to work on.” She relaxes back. “There. We did it.”“Well, I think that’s a symptom, not a cause.”She stops patting herself on the back for her demonstrated humility. “What do you mean?”“I think it’s an anger issue-”“Yeah. I get it. I’m violent because I’m angry.” She tries to interupt”“Caused because you’re too afraid to expose your sensitive side.” You get out.“Ahhh come on.” She turns to Hana. Hana’s face shows she agrees with you. “Well that’s just... I mean, I started this game. And you all got to see my crazy just a little while ago. And how can I need to show my sensitivity if you say I’m too quick to hit people? That sounds overly sensitive!”“Laki.” You try to interject.“What? I-” Her eyes catch Bella. “I...okay.” She sighs. “Tell me more about it.”You lean in closer, brushing the hair from her face. “I know you, Laki. You’re a sweetheart. But you’re afraid to let it show.”“Am not.” She pouts, leaving it unclear which statement she takes issue with.“You’re a natural mother.” Hana says. “And you’re so beautiful.”“Okay. Is this a thing where you tell me I can’t pick up sarcasm or something?” Laki says, put off at the compliments.“She’s right. You’re beautiful. I could help bring it out.”“Bring it out?” Hydreigon’s bare teeth flash in your mind from the way she asked that.“Help everyone else see what I see.” You continue, experimenting with her hair and using your hands to block a few things out. “Redo your hair to show your eyes a bit more, get something a little more flowy on you, let that beautiful, feminine woman out. Show the world how cute you are.”She looks away and huffs. “Come on...”“There it is.” Hana says.“What?” Laki blushes and tries to hide her face. “Stop!~”Bella giggles at Laki’s protestations and the way those two play fight a little. They’re getting along better every day. You don’t just mean in terms of getting along, but closeness.(continued)
>>2376275As the playfighting dies down, they both come to the realization that they hadn’t said anything about you yet. They sit down and whisper, like they’re trying to make some sort of gameplan. You start to worry about that closeness.“Guys?”They both stop their huddle and glance back to you. “We sort of have the same thing to say.”“Oh?”“Relax.” Laki says. “It’s now about the size of your pride. Yes, obviously you’re pretty smart for someone so....barbarian looking. But that’s not it.”“Is it about my assertiveness?” You ask, feeling a little tired of that topic. They share a look. It’s about that.>It’s something you’re already working on. Just give me time to demonstrate>Okay, let’s hear it in detail>You’re so sick of hearing this from everyone. “Okay.” You say, feeling that it’s more important to hear them out then act defensively. “Tell me how more assertive I need to be.”“I think you’re growing into it.” Laki says. “Everyone gets harder as they age.”“Yeah. A little more, but it’s not a huge problem.” Hana says.“Wait, that’s it?”“What?” Laki says. “You’ve been working on it and it shows, Mr. Perfect.”“Yeah. There are other things. We wanted to touch on that and tell you ‘good job’ because we’re proud of you.” Hana smiles.“What...what am I not doing well on, then?” You start to worry. It’s not as big a deal if it’s a flaw you’re aware of. This is scary with the unknown factor.“You could exercise more.” Laki says. You’ve honestly been searching for the opportunity, but you nod and take that to heart.“Could be taller.” Hana teases. Her eyes stay on you to make sure that’s not too far, and her face is a bit apologetic.”“Heh.” You say, feeling a bit vulnerable now. “Okay. Well, I can’t do much there but give me time. Grandpa said he didn’t really hit his growth spurt until really late.”Laki and Hana assure you it’s not that big of a deal. You hope you don’t look too hurt.“Just generally keep becoming the person you’re becoming.” Hana says. “But, don’t push yourself as hard, okay? Be a little more selfish.”“Yeah.” Laki says. “That. You give and give to perfect strangers when you should hold some back. You keep giving to the world and it’s going to just take and take until you’re gone. And that’s not allowed because we own you.” She teases.“Also feed me more dick.” Hana mumbles and she snuggles into you.“Calm down, lewd girl.” Laki says.“I didn’t mean now!” Hana whispers. "In general."“I bet.” Laki mumbles.>Okay. You’ll prioritize your wellbeing more>Wait, tell me other ways to improve. “Okay, but tell me if I slip up or something else comes up.” You say. They both mumble agreements as they drift off to sleep. They must have been pretty tired.Well, so are you. You go to sleep feeling emotionally drained, but that helps you wake up feeling refreshed.“I’ve come to a conclusion.” Laki announces, letting you know she’s awake, and she felt you wake up. Her head rests on your chest as she adjusts to look up at you.“What is it?” The feeling of yesterday’s conversation is still strong in the air. It’s understandable that your heart rate just tripled, right?“I’m in all the way.” She raises a hand to stop you from interjecting while she gets it all out. “I know. I know. You’re not ready to go to the next level yet. But I think you will be one day, and I already am. And I know saying that out loud can be scary to hear, and you and I have different expectations and sometimes that might make things weird. But if I say nothing it’ll be like I’m keeping this secret about our relationship and I don’t do that. So I’m being honest. If that scares you off, well, you probably would have been scared off anyway. But if it doesn’t, and you’re willing to get there someday and trust me for now, that works.” She inhales, apparently not having taken a breath yet. “So there it all is. I trust what you said. Now, there’s the question of if you trust me.”“I trust you.” You say, wanting there to be no room for doubt. She smiles, but there’s a worry in her eyes that betrays the predator-like grin she has for you. “Glad you said that.” She makes her way on top of you. Oh gosh she’s naked. Oh jeez look at that body and feel that heat. “I was worried you might get it in your head that someone in my position might be tempted to trap you.”“W-what do you mean?” You ask as she pins your arms to the ground. You glance around and realize that it’s just the two of you in the tent. You can’t even hear the others outside. She, through some almost possessed magic, manages to start wiggling you inside of her without the use of her hands. “Well, what if I tricked you into putting a baby in me? That’d make you stuck in my life. You’re a good man, Herb. You wouldn’t punish your child just because of something I did. You’d take responsibility.”You’re excited to hear her call you a man, even through this. “You wouldn’t do that.” She’s way too good of a person.(continued)
>>2376481She moans seductively, slowly moving her hips. “Makes an exciting roleplay, doesn’t it Soft Hands? Pretending I’m off birth control and seeing if you can resist? But if it becomes too real; too scary, if you can’t trust the situation” she emphasizes, “you know the safe word.” A needy gasp escapes her mouth as she bites her lip.Holy jeez. She’s working those kegel muscles like there’s no tomorrow. It’s slow, it’s gripping, and it’s like being milked. This is going to be over very quickly.>You trust her. “Give it to me.” She whispers lustily into your ear. “It’s okay. I want it. I need it.” She’s so agonizingly slow. You’re just constantly on edge. Jeez she is doing things to you that you didn’t know could be done.Of course you trust her. She’d never do something so nuts. And it’s not like you’re saying that because you’re the same naive guy that left home on your adventure. And it’s not because at this point you’re starting not to care about anything other than ending this heavenly agony.Still, a small, doubtful part of you is getting scared. She’s light a woman possessed. Did she leave the tent just to go get some nice smelling stuff? It smells like flowers and now lewd times in here. And good grapes what is she doing to you? She has you pinned so hard you can barely move. You’re entirely at her mercy. She’s not letting you try to go faster or slower. She knows exactly what she’s doing and how she wants to pace it.She kisses you. “It’s all I want. Please, Herb.”Hearing her say your name like that is too much. You can’t hold on any longer. You’re only a man. And deep, deep down, you trust her. After a blissful eternity that didn’t last nearly as long as it should have, you and Laki lay there in the afterglow.“Woo.” She pants. “How’s that for not sensitive enough? In your face!”You laugh weakly. “That was...wow.”She sighs. “Think it’ll be a boy or a girl.”Your heart skips a beat. “Oh.”She turns and smiles, then flicks your forehead. “You’re still too easy, Soft Hands. Come on, get dressed. They’ll be back soon.” She stops. “And, thanks for trusting me. I trust you too.” You feel like there might have been a ‘now’ that was left out of that sentence, but you’re not sure. You do as you’re told and find the group coming back right as you’re adjusting your collar for the seventh time. There, perfect. The group is walking to the beach. Laki isn’t in a big rush to meet her parents, but she doesn’t seem worried about it either. In fact, she’s just humming a tune, playing around, and generally giving off a pretty content aura.“I’ve been thinking.” Hana says.Abigail opens her mouth to say something. This time though, Mace flies up and blows a warning shot of air across her face. She’s very surprised by this. Everyone is, except for Hana.“Thanks Mace.” Hana says. “I’ve been thinking about us getting a boat.”“You talk to Val too?”“Yeah!” She points to you. “I know it’s a lot, but look how much milk we go yesterday with a little work! If we pool together we can get a pretty decent sized one.”(continued)
>>2376671“Yeah. Lots of old but big dingies are being sold right now. Everyone’s getting modern boats or using the new ferries that are popping up.” Abigail says. “But you know, we could also just save infinity money and take a ferry if you’re scared of going on Wailord again.”“I’m not scared.” Hana shoots back, a little overly defensively coming from her. “But yes, that is a concern. I mean, isn’t it?”Laki throws out Wailord, only realizing the awkwardness of the conversation ending right there after it’s out of her hand. The huge pokemon greets everyone eagerly when it appears in the water, unaware of how he was the subject of discussion.Gardevoir excitedly lifts Meowth and Sorbet onto her back, picking up on Wailord’s eager attitude. She couldn’t have picked two pokemon less happy about suddenly being lifted onto her small shoulders though. There’s a lot of scrambling and noises and a bit of a mess when it settles down, but nobody is hurt in the chaos.Wailord makes a slightly motion with his eyes. He wants everyone aboard so he can take them to the next island.>Discreetly have Dice stick next to Hana at all times, just in case>We’ll be fine. >>2376705>>2376708>>2376721Well, it really wasn't a one time thing was it? There was also the time Wailord started listing over with Dice and Dragonair.I think getting a saddle-like thing so there's railing and something to protect Wailord from whatever everyone else is doing would be pretty sensible.
>>2376679>>We’ll be fine. It was a one time freak accidentAnything else would feel like kicking a puppy. A giant, adorable whale-shaped puppy.
“We’ll be fine.” You whisper to the group. “It was a one time thing.”When you turn around, Abigail is already on board. But she’s got something in a thermos. She empties it out onto Wailord’s back. It’s a...is that a coal from the fire? It lands harmlessly on his back and splunks into the water, making a tiny splash that Wailord finally notices. He slowly and carefully tries to maneuver so he can see what fell off.“It’s okay, Wailord.” Abigail says. “That was just me testing something. You’re a good boy.” She pats him where she dropped the hot coal. You doubt he can feel that, but he reacts all the same. “Good boy.”You and the others climb aboard next. You hang out near the front with your pokemon to make sure Wailord doesn’t feel lonely. He enjoys the company. The trip is surprisingly short. Or maybe you just think it is because it seems like every other time you travel something big happens. The dock just comes right up on you, and the time riding Wailord feels like it zoomed by before you even got comfortable.Akaneki jumps out at you right away as distinct. The boardwalk looks very skillfully maintained. It’s immaculate. You heard the birth rate of boys here is a little higher than girls for some reason, and so you expected well, something a bit more masculine. The flowerbeds, bubbly carved signs on the streets, and occasional statue give it a more sunny, welcoming, and wholesome feeling. There’s an edge of cuteness on some things, fragility and femininity in others, and masculine pride in one statue. Wow. Bet if you looked like that the girls wouldn’t say you should be taller or fitter.“It’s so different.” Hana says. “I expected like, roving biker gangs and bar fights everywhere.”Laki laughs, like that’s the funniest thing she’s ever heard.“Oh. Right. First time here for some of you.” Abigail says. “They’re crazy weird here. So strict.”“Not strict.” Laki says. “Just...disciplined.”“Yeah. Like I said, real stuck up here. No spitting on the streets, take your hat off inside, they even act like a women should be escorted at night because it’s ‘proper.’” Abigail makes a point to spit. Laki seems to admire that disregard for the rules, but also a little nervous.“It’s not that bad.” Laki says. “So I told them we’d be in for dinner. “Well, I owe my pokemon some training.” You say, standing over Gobble. He blinks for a moment, then suddenly leaps up and poses. Yeah!“I need to do some shopping.” Hana says.“I got nothing.” Abigail says.“I’ll come with you.” Laki takes Hana’s arm. “Abigail, Herb....guard...each other.” She says as your girlfriends walk off. “Meet up later, okay?”You make arrangements for meeting at the pokemon center before going to Laki’s parents later, then you and Abigail get to searching for a place to train.“This way!” She grabs your sleeve and drags you to a little park. The scorched dirt and other damage shows you this is some sort of battling area. There’s only one fight going on off in the far side though. Seems wide open.“Perfect! Thanks.”“Woah! You know that word.” She teases. “I thought maybe you guys didn’t realize how useful I am to have around.” Is she feeling underappreciated? She bends down to pet Sorbet. The ice pokemon is considerably happier now, until Gardevoir approaches. Then she puffs up and Abigail has to retrieve her hand from the growing puff of icy mist forming around her.Dice playfully bites into it. You expect Sorbet to jump or attack him, but when he pulls back to reveal a mouth full of ice and has to strain to crunch it under his strong jaw, she just giggles and relaxes. You turn to Gobble. You figure it only makes sense to start where you left off before.“Ready buddy?”He punches his open palm. The Silk Scarf flaps in the wind a little. Now, you had practiced his response to flinching while using Focus Punch before, trying to get him to be able to shrug off or ignore smaller hits instead of flinching.>Continue with anti-flinch exercises>He probably has it well enough, learn a new move>Try adding an improvement to another move that he knows>Something else

You continue the exercises, giving Gobble increasingly more distracting distractions as he uses the move.Abigail takes out Conqueror and fusses with his wings as she brushes him. She seems good at amusing herself, so you feel less guilty about being boring. You and Gobble shadowbox for awhile. You need the exercise and you feel like trying to imitate the move and work with him helps you get a better understanding of it. With time, you feel Gobble does a good job of learning how to shrug off most smaller distractions.Whoo, you take a short breather and grab a drink from a nearby fountain, wiping sweat off your face. When you look up, you see three guys hanging around Abigail.“Hey Red.” One of them stands a little closer. “All alone.”“I wish.” She hints heavily. “Some jackass is standing in my light.” She continues to brush her Vivillon.“Oh, that’s not very nice.” He says with a slick smile. “I’m just being friendly.”Gardevoir’s face contorts into anger, though. Intense anger. She must be getting it from him.“Be friendly somewhere else.” She says.“Temper like your hair, huh? So I guess it’s true what they say.”One of them elbows the apparent leader, and he looks up over at you. Mace and Gobble keep close to your side, Sorbet stays firmly behind your leg, Bella watches curiously from the side, and Dice is...Dice gently bites the guys shoe!“WOAH!” He kicks, making Dice roll back. He looks shaken up and confused, but not hurt.“You okay?”“He just slobbered on it.” The guy looks up. “Yo, your pokemon slobbered on my shoe!”“Better watch out.” Abigail says with disinterest after visually confirming that Dice is fine. “He’s got lots of badges and a really bad temper.”>Challenge him to a battle>Apologize to the man, try to smooth this over>Slug him. “Are you alright, Dice?” You ask as he comes to snuggle your leg. Physically you know he’s fine, but you never really know when something affects him emotionally. It doesn’t seem like he took that particularly personal, though.Gobble begins to yell at the guy. You put a hand on his shoulder and approach. “Dice is very sensory with his mouth. You ever have a pokemon that observes the world different like that? I'm always amazed by what Mace here can hear.” Maybe a little conversation will help. They seem more confused than angry or confrontational right now, at least.“He slobbered on my shoe.” The guy responds. You look down. Not much slobber. “Oh hey, are those the new fall Springsteps?”“Yeah.” He looks surprised.“Then at least you have nothing to worry about.” You tell him. “Quality stuff. Really good material. Did you know the CEO ran his over for a promotion once? Not by a car, but a hoard of Rhyhorn! You’ve got great taste in shoes, let me tell you.” You aren’t being sarcastic or anything. This is genuine admiration for an expensive and well crafted product. “I heard there are a lot of knock-offs popping up, though. Cheap stuff, stains easily. Gives the real product a bad reputation.”“What are you talking about?” One of the guys asks. But the middle one, the owner of the shoes, he looks a little nervous.“Come on.” He says, seeming to have lost interest in you and Abigail. “Weird dude, talking about shoes like he knows anything.”“Well done.” Abigail says. “Guess you notice the cop, huh?”You glance around. Way off, across the way, you notice a police officer noticing you.“Why didn’t you say anything?” You ask.She shrugs. “Why would I? What were you going to do, fist fight the guy? He wasn’t going to do anything anyway. Wasn’t a big deal.” She looks up. “Wait, did you think I was in trouble? Were you coming to save wittle ol’ me?” She bats her eyes mockingly.>Of course. Herb's perception skills, pokemon knowledge, context clues in general, and other things will hopefully come into play to avoid completely unfair, unforeseeable bullshit, but expect more bullshit from more advanced trainers.Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture, mostly likely a butt.Pokemon:Gobble (Munchlax)Mace (Roggenrola)Belladonna (Roserade)Dice (Croconaw)Sorbet (Vulpix)Location: Akaneki city edge, nearish to Laki's parents house

“Well of course. You’re a dear friend.” You tell her, as you pick up Bella. Bella squeals and laughs in delight. She always turns so childish when you’re holding her.Abigail stops brushing her Vivilon, but doesn’t say anything for a moment. “You’re just, way out there with your feelings, huh?” A genuine smile works its way onto her face when she’s not paying attention. She notices though, and gives it the usual smug twist.“Do I?” You had no idea.“Yeah. It’s right on your sleeve all the time.” She says. “Unless you’re realllllllly good at hiding it. But I’d know by now. You’re the genuine article, Goldenrod.”You blow a strawberry on Belladonna’s belly before you start training. “Is that a good thing?”“It works for you.” She says. “You put people at ease. You’re likable. Earnest. It’s refreshing.”“Oh. Thanks.” You say.“I’m just saying. Not everyone is so comfortable saying something like that just out of nowhere. Calling someone a dear friend. You know? You’re like a little kid that says whatever he thinks sometimes.”“Sorry.” Did you offend her? She’s acting weird. She rolls her eyes. “Don’t be sorry, idiot. It’s why I...don’t mind being around you.”Oh! You think you know what’s going on. She’s having trouble saying it back! Laki stops herself because when she goes in, she goes all in. There’s only stop and go with her. Jane has an extremely hard time trusting anyone, especially you. Like she’s so worried about being vulnerable that she wears spikey armor. Abigail though, she’s got something else going on. Is she worried about being abandoned? Ignored? It does seem like she causes trouble just for the sake of getting attention. She wouldn’t say anything controversial to Laki’s parents, would she? Hana’s guardians were really easy going and casual, but you get the sense that Laki’s won’t be.You set Belladonna down and glance over at Abigail. Her bright red hair shines in the sunlight, along with her relatively pale skin and a shiny bracelet she always has on. Her clothes are actually a lot more worn out and ratty than you realized before. You must have really been distracted and tired. Is that hole new?She notices you looking at her and gets a little embarrassed. “Nothing.” You look away. You read too much into stuff. However close of a friend Abigail sees you, she’ll express it her own way in her own time. And if she actually only sort of tolerates you, well, you’ll come to terms with that. Then again, maybe she’d like you more if you figured out her favorite meal or-Bella kicks and punches at the air, imitating how Gobble sometimes shadowboxes. Her moves are much more precise and quick, though. Under the flowering hands lay deadly thorns. Her kicks are pretty impressive, too. She’s definitely grown from that little waddling Budew. You sigh. It feels like it happened in the blink of an eye. But as she gets impatient with you being lost and thought and starts tugging at your pant leg, you realize she’s still your little girl, and probably always will be.“Ready?”She nods, making an eager and impatient noise“Okay okay.” You laugh. “We’ll get right into it, then.”>Work on general battle experience. “Check it out!” Abigail says, picking something up off the ground that Conqueror found. “A yo-yo. Someone just left it here. String came off but that’s an easy fix.”“Are you good with yo-yos?” You ask.“Ha. I don’t know about ‘good.’ There’s this kid back in town a little younger than you that’s a freakin’ Alakazam with a spoon with these. I can do maybe two tricks, and not really well.” She plays around with it, trying to remember how it goes.Bella pulls on your leg again, very impatient this time.“Alright Bella. Sorry.” You check your pokedex for the time, but the clock part of the screen is too damaged. You fiddle with it and open another program that has the time on it too. “We’re doing pretty good for time so let’s do a few things today. Is that okay?”She makes an even more eager sound.“Great! Two things. I want to learn a new move, and I want to work on umm, tricking you.” You say.She looks up, confused.“I just mean that a lot of pokemon you’ll run into can pull some really deceptive moves, or there might be times where I can’t give very complicated instructions. So I want to make sure you can get a better idea of some things to expect and how to deal with them.”“I got this” Abigail says, making her thumb disappear with a simple kid’s magic trick. It blows Bella’s mind, though. Abigail does it again, slower, showing Bella how it works. Bella covers her mouth shocked, and looks to you to see if you saw the same thing.“I saw it.” Your heart melts.Abigail pulls a trick with her newfound yo-yo. She messes it up the first time, but that somehow doesn’t diminish the magic from Bella’s eyes when Abigail actually does pull it off. She insists of seeing the device to inspect it, looking for how Abigail made it move like that. That gives you an idea. “Are you attached to that yo-yo?”“By the finger.” She jokes, doing her second trick. Bella reacts with even more surprise, pointing at it and making noise, running in a circle, then coming back to look at it again. She then demands to see the trick another time. “I just found it in the grass, Herb. Even I’m not that poor.” She offers it to you.“Oh good.” You blabber out. “I mean, can I ask a favor?”She raises an eyebrow. You ask Abigail to move the yoyo unpredictably as a target, and get to work trying to train Belladonna on Magical Leaf. The first few times don’t go well at all. Bella fires pin missiles, bullet seeds, water sport, leech seeds, even razor leafs at it with reckless abandon. She comes close a few times, but isn’t really understanding the exercise. You keep at it though, and in a surprisingly short amount of time, Belladonna manages to learn Magical Leaf.“Not very powerful.” Abigail inspects the yoyo that Bella was attacking. Despite Bella having flawlessly nailed it a bunch of times with the never-missing Magical Leaf, the toy is still intact.(continued)
>>2382497Bella huffs, firing off another use of the move. It goes wide though, and off into the distance. After a second, there’s a tiny explosion way over by the far side of the park. It draws a few eyes, but not that many. You’re still in an area intended for pokemon battles, after all.You and Abigail rush over to see what she hit. You find a small child with a charred string standing next to a small crater. Apparently he had a yoyo not too long ago. Two freinds of his and a Pichu are bouncing around and laughing.“Are you okay?” You ask.“That was AWESOME!” He shouts.“I’m so sorry about your yoyo!” You check him over, then move onto the crater. Jeez, she really packed a punch with that one.Bella looks incredibly smug and satisfied with herself.“The string was almost worn out anyway. Who cares! Do it again!” He shouts. “Blow up that acorn!”Abigail, who was taking her newfound toy out to offer to the kid, embarrassingly puts it back it behind her back.Bella takes aim, making a show of it instead of just using the move like before. “Bella.” You say in a tone that you hope makes it clear you’re not happy about what she did. “You know you shouldn’t have done that.”Her shoulders slump and she kicks the dirt, looking up at you with those big, adorable eyes.“Awww man.” One of the kids says.“But... the damage is done. Okay. Before you shoot though, I want you to try something for me.” You squat so you can talk to her better. “See all that stuff around it? The dirt, the grass, the leaves? I want you to blow up that acorn without disturbing any of those.”She thinks for a moment. She adjusts her aim, looks with one eye closed, tests the wind, and thinks. Her accuracy before seemed dead on, but you guess this really put the pressure on her.She has a strange “aha” moment and starts walking over to the acorn. Picking it up gingerly so as not to disturb anything around it, she tosses it way up into the sky. In a flash, her Magical Leaf turns it into dust. The kids cheer, Abigail laughs with Gardevoir.“Bella.” You approach. “That was...technically right. I guess you know how to think outside the box after all. But I still want to work on your accuracy just in case.” You pat her on the back. You have to admit you’re pretty proud of your clever pokemon. You have her practice it on other targets. Luckily there’s no shortage of acorns. She manages to perform the move spectacularly each time. She always hits, and it always hits hard and precisely. The kids eventually get bored and leave to do other things, and even Bella begins to get a bit bored. You suppose she’s proven she has it.“Welp, I think I’m going to freshen up before dinner.” Abigail stretches. “Assuming you’re okay to be on your own, Herby-kins.” She pinches your cheek.“I’ll be fine, but are you sure yo-”“Oh relax.” She says. “This island has the lowest crime out of all of them. Even Opala, and that’s where old people go to die!” A passerby gives her a funny look but continues on without saying anything. “Trust me.”“Okay. You remember where to meet?”She repeats the street corner as she walks off. You didn’t expect her to look back, but she does. Not for you though, for Conqueror. She always does keep close eyes on it.The two of them vanish around a corner, leaving you, Gardevoir, and your pokemon standing in the park. Bella actually didn’t take long at all to learn Magical Leaf. You guess it helps it’s a move that her type of pokemon learns naturally.>Sounds like time for some more general training! You look around to your pokemon and Gardevoir. They all look to you for what happens next.“Well, I want to pick up something small for Laki’s parents.” You say. “Really make a good impression. And I think it’s time you guys had a trip to the pokemon center.” And after that with the leftover time, you’d like to sit down with Gardevoir. They all have no input. Wherever you go, they go.“Okay then.” You say, leading them to the pokemon center. The center itself is more like a fancy hotel. The island and its institutions aren’t exactly what you expected. Instead of a macho wasteland dominated by strong warlord looking men, there’s a strong, unspoken masculinity. Buildings are functional but still carry extremely difficult looking sculptures or other artworks. People are well dressed and acting formally on the street, but still seem as friendly and at ease as they would in a home. It’s a different kind of ease though. A silent confidence. Maybe it’s just that most people here seem fit and have conservative haircuts. Loanan prints on ties and the occasional decorative armband or other accessory are the few colourful and rebellious fashion statements, but they’re so much more effective out here.A man is running this one. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just a surprise to you. He takes your pokeballs with a casual whistle and starts their healing cycle. “Shouldn’t be a long wait. Just got this thing tuned up.” He slaps the machine on the side. “Real beauty.”“Uh, yeah.”“So, she going in to or...?” He motions to Gardevoir.“Oh. Uh, no. She’s not mine.”He raises an eyebrow, then looks past you. He glances around the pokemon center. “Excuse me, does this pokemon belong to anyone here?”There’s obviously no answer.Gardevoir looks on edge. You don’t know if that’s her own reaction, or some subconscious worry of yours, or something else.“Well it’s not like a wild pokemon wandered in here.” He says, still a little casual. That casualness is wearing off as he looks more suspicious of her, though. “Don’t tell me someone forget her here.”>Don’t explicitly lie, but do imply that she isn’t wild>Yes. >>2382887Something tells me the Primeape is going to hog most of the Xp then.
>>2382890Nah, his ace, a Metapod, gets most of the EXP when Primape bashes enemies over the head with him.
>>2382856#We could also just ask Garevior what she thinks. It would at least be fun to see how the man reacts when she talks.
“Could you imagine?” You ask. You grab a small pokemon treat they’re selling at the counter and plunk it down in front of him. He takes it and rings it up on reflex, but still looks like there’s something going on here he’s on the verge of figuring out, but his work is temporarily distracting him. “You’d be surprised. We’ve had a few flying ones come in through that big doorway over there. Sometimes people bring it a hurt stray or something too.”You take the treat and offer it to Gardevoir. She looks confused. You think really hard at her for her to eat it. Slowly, and rather than taking it with her hands, she nibbles it out of your hand, eminding you that she still is in fact a pokemon. “Gardevoir’s very sensitive to the atmosphere around her.” You tell him. “It makes her a little nervous in big crowds.”“Ah. So are you watching over her for a friend?” He just isn’t letting the subject go! At least he understands you two are together.“Sometimes it feels like she and the other pokemon are watching over me.”He pats a pokeball at his belt. “Yeah. I get that. Ol’ Machop here saved my arm and probably my life.” He tells you. That’s both a fantastic distraction from the topic of Gardevoir, but also sounds like an interesting story. You ask him about it and he tells you about how he got his jacket stuck in some shop machinery one day. The conversation exposes your complete lack of understanding about shop and just general handiness, but he doesn’t seem to hold it against you either. He’s just asking how much you know about it so he can better explain the mechanics of it.You feel like some sort of spy movie protagonist. Like you just pulled off the most amazingly smooth display of deception and keeping it cool. Your heart is pounding and you also feel a little guilty even though it was entirely harmless to that guy, but you never could sit right with misleading people. You swallow that feeling deep down though, since you have a feeling it could have gotten weird. You take your pokemon and leave, Gardevoir sticking closely to you. She relaxes when Dice climbs onto her shoulder for a free ride. You look around for something to buy. This is something you have no idea about. You see boys your age laughing and horsing around as they pass by, making you feel a little lonely and awkward. The feeling vanishes instantly when you look down to your side and see Gobble keeping pace with a big smile and wide eyes, looking at all the buildings. There’s so much to choose from. And unfortunately, you have no idea what an appropriate gift is.>A small box of fancy chocolates>Her dad’s a carpenter, right? Maybe you can buy something at the hardware store>An artistic knick-knack>Ask those boys if they can help you>Maybe you can come up with a small contest routine and make that your gift to them>Something else

>>2382934>Ask those boys if they can help you
Wooo, just got home for work. Hopefully I can vote on a couple of updates!
You decide to rely on your best skill; cooking! It’s simple, you’ll just make a traditional meal using local ingredients. Of course, what’s a traditional meal on Akaneki is a bit of a mystery to you.Wait. Wait wait wait. Boku bread! On every island you’ve been to it’s been considered a difficult to make but filling and enjoyable food. It’s perfect! You pick up some ingredients from a local convenience store and head over to the beach where you can use one of the publicly available barbeque thingies and get a fire going. It’s trickier, without your lucky pan. But with Gobble’s help and no weather problems, you manage to get a nice loaf baked up. But, you being you, you end up making several. After you find the best one, you reward Gobble and everyone else with the other loafs. Of course, this time Gardevoir eats using her hands.“How are you doing lately, filtering emotions?” You sit and and let yourself have a small taste of one of the loaves you made. It’s delicious, but you keep second guessing yourself on it.“I think so.” She speaks. “I don’t feel like the sun. I liked being it, though. I feel confused sometimes. More often than before. But I think that’s good thing. I was so sure about the wrong things before. If I’m always unsure, that means I’m paying attention, doesn’t it?” Her tone is typically absent of emotion. This time is no different. But her aura though, that, unless it’s your imagination, feels like it’s changed slightly. “I don’t know.” You say. You have no idea what she’s experiencing. She nibbles her bread. Despite her size, she’s probably the least hungry out of all the pokemon you feed. “How are you and your emotions?” She asks.Is she genuinely asking? Wouldn’t she know, probably better than yourself? She’s so hard to understand. You don’t feel frustrated about that, but it does worry you a little. Is she making conversation? Mimicking what she thinks a conversation should be? Is she looking for a frame of reference on how people understand their own feelings?>Ask how she feels about picking up the more intimate feelings you and others have given off, apologize if you’ve made her uncomfortable>You’re cautiously optimistic. There will be challenges but you feel confident in your ability to handle them>Forget that. Focus on her. Really dig into what you can do to help her out>Try aura mixing>Invite all your pokemon into a circle and everyone can express their feelings>Just spend the time making idle chat and casually playing. Give her and the others some more 'normal'>Something else

“I feel good, actually.” You say, double checking yourself. “Yeah. I know it won’t be easy, and I won’t always nail it, but I think, in general, it’ll be alright.”She nods. “I see.”You have no idea how to take that. Instead of worrying too much about it though, you decide to just take it easy for a bit. You play with your pokemon and they play with each other, but it’s all light games for the most part. You end up learning that Sorbet is actually a big fan of catch, and she’s becoming much more receptive to your petting. Gobble still seems a little awkward around her, but he seems like he’s sort of getting over it. He, Dice, and Mace end up play wrestling over who gets to stand on a small rock. It ends when Bella stands atop Mace and declares victory.Gardevoir drops a stick in your hand from her mouth, then seems to just sort of forget that she did that. You glance over and see Sorbet deep asleep. She must have been dreaming.“Can I ask you something?”“Yes.” She states plainly. If it were anyone else you’d think they were being a smart alec. “How do you feel about picking up our more...intimate feelings?” Will she understand your meaning? Does she pick up words more, or is she paying attention to the intent and feelings over semantics? "I'm sorry if we've been inconsiderate to you or made you uncomfortable."“It's extremely enjoyable. I understand why Hana thinks about it so often.” She says, again flatly. “If you do to Hana what you did to Laki on Wailord, she would be yours forever.”You want to just die from embarrassment, but instead you laugh. The mental image of the face Hana would make and how she’d react. You’re still super embarrassed, but it’s different. It’s not like you can hide it anyway, so it’s sort of liberating to talk to Gardevoir about this sort of thing. “Good to know.” You say. Wait. Does that mean Hana doesn’t feel entirely committed right now? You both confessed love, but after what happened with Laki you wonder now if Hana has a different definition. What if-“Would you like to know how they feel about you?” Gardevoir offers. “I can show you the shadows. I'd like to see how you see them.”You check the time. You don’t know why, you just haven’t checked it in awhile. There’s still a little time.>Yes. That’s no different than asking Dice or Mace how someone smells or sounds to them>No. That feels too intrusive. She shouldn't offer that sort of thing>Something else

>>2383139>>2383147Well drat I'm just a wee bit late.
So if we are going with "no", then the question is: why?I think: If they decide to withhold something from me then I trust they're doing it for a good reason.is a good explanation.
>>2383187Or it'd be like saying we don't trust them. Which undermines the whole relationship. And we do trust Laki and Hana.
>No. That feels too intrusive. She shouldn't offer that sort of thing
“Sorry. That just feels too intrusive for me. I don’t think you should offer that.” You try to think up the words to explain exactly why someone might not be comfortable with it.“I see.” She keeps eye contact. It feels very strange. “I wish to express myself. I sometimes believe that what I feel when nobody else is there to do it for me is what you’d describe as loneliness. But that’s just a word. I don’t know if it feels the same for you. I need to share how I experience things to know if anyone else can understand.” She gasps. It feels like getting that out in coherent words was extremely difficult for her. Like she has to put in a mighty effort to be this grounded. Now you feel guilty. “It’s not that I don’t want to understand you better, Gardevoir. I do. I just don’t want to violate their privacy and snoop in on their minds.”“I am Gardevoir.” She mutters under her breath, like you had just reminded her to pick up milk. She quickly reestablishes eye contact. “This is the only way I experience others! How can you understand me? How do you understand them?” Her voice explodes in your mind instead of speaking out loud, or maybe in addition to it. You can’t tell. You cover your ears in vain. You’ve got to figure out a way to explain this better. “If there’s anything there they haven’t told me, I trust that it’s for a good reason. I trust them.” You shout over the noise in your head. It’s starting to hurt. But you’re not scared. Yet. You’re becoming very confused, though.“What sense is that?” She says. You get such a strange sensation. Visions and feelings through the sense of others. Sometimes it’s clear as day. Something you can see or hear. Others, it’s like trying to comprehend a colour your own eyes can’t see and your brain is physically incapable of processing. “WHAT SENSE IS TRUST?”Confusion distorts everything. For a moment, or perhaps much longer or shorter, your own sense of identity is lost.Pain and shock send you flying back. Wait, not you, her. You’re fine, but being dragged back. There’s a huge thump as sand that was floating over the beach falls. It takes a second to process what’s going on.In front of you is Sorbet’s tails. They’re puffy. She’s slowly stepping backwards to keep pace with you as you feel yourself slowly being dragged backwards. She’s laying down a protective mist.(continued)
>>2383296Mace, Gobble, and Bella are ahead of Sorbet, forming a wall of pokemon. Mace is floating, but recklessly expending way more energy than he needs to keep in the air. He’s making a display of power. That means it’s got to be Dice dragging you. Yes. It is. You can tell without even looking.Gardevoir clumsily tries to get to her feet. She’s not seriously injured, but she is very confused and disoriented. Mace charges an attack, not wanting to let her get herself together. Considering how the last time he fought her went, you guess he doesn’t want to take any chances.>Have your pokemon attack until she’s safely knocked out or capturable. Take control of the situation now before you lose your chance>Tackle her yourself. That way if something goes wrong, you’re the only one who’s in the line of fire>Try to calm her with your aura skills. A heat-of-the-moment aura massage>Everyone calm down. Let her stand up. [Roll me some dice!]
If we roll a 1 I'm calling it right now that we'll end up having to do dinner with Laki's parents bodyswapped with Gardevoir.Getting to experience the world through a body without psychic powers and only growing long-distance aura sensitivity would do Gardevoir some good to understanding people. And let's be honest, it'd give Laki's parents a good indication of what our life is like.

>>2383377Maybe. Or maybe the 90 is for Mace/Dice and Gardevoir is about to get knocked out.
>>2383381Is it bad I want this to be consequences?
>>2383384I don't think so. But others seem to think so.

>>2383389Hahaha, it was hubris to believe Never Lucky Herb. As luck waxes so does it wane.
>>2383389But anon, our luck is with Kiera and she needed it.
>>2383389>>2383390Yeah, I'm excited for cool problems like bodyswaps, or mind-melds, or basically whatever helps us understand Gardevoir better and helps her work through her issues.I'm not excited for Gardevoir to explode Herb's eye with her mind, or for Mace to get really upset at us for our reckless behavior and at himself for not being able to protect us and "I must cry but I have no eyes".You get the idea.
>>2383396I agree, but still god damn it would be nice for something to work out for once; shit's frustrating.
>>2383397She's not going to explode his eye! She's going to do something awful like force him to see things as she does, or shatter his confidence with psychic power.Amnesia could be a thing. Or becoming mute and having to talk through aura.
>>2383400this >>2383397please understand not everyone thinks what you think is "interesting" is actually interesting. Wishing for bad luck is just annoying
>>2383405Wishing for bad luck isn't what I'm getting at, but there's a high role compared to some fairly middling ones.We didn't get any explicit warnings about this being a terminally stupid idea but it was self evident it was going to be tricky. If it had've worked out fine, it would've been cool. It doesn't seem to have, so consequences are the natural conclusion and consequences naturally make for conflict, which leads to a more interesting narrative.True, not everyone has the same ideas as to what's interesting but there're very few instances where heroes got out of things scott free for a reason.I doubt this'll end in anything like maiming though.
>>2383400For Once? For Once?What Hasn't Worked Out For Herb?You're being a baby.
>>2383419you have to consider the tone of the story, pokemon quest has always been a more lighthearted quest in general, and with the sequel this is even more true. What the reader expects from the quest is light hearted fun not intense drama. Not that there isn't room for both but the fact the dice demand we move away from what we were looking for is disappointing not exciting. At least personally. Not that we should be worried, no matter what happens I am sure it'll work out in the end as Gobble is an excellent storyteller. Just getting sick of these shit rolls is all.
>>2383422recently absolutely nothing has.
>>2383427Yeah that's why Herb drowned, his grilfriends left him, and he's still mortal enemies with Jane. You're being a baby.
>>2383428That has to do with Gobble being a good writer, not with the dice not fucking us.
>>2383429For the first half of the quest we rolled so well we beat a dragon with a frying pan. Harden up a little bit. Your whining is totally unwarranted.
You stand up and reach out to her. Dice, not sure how to handle this but sure he likes you, stays clinging to the back of your shirt. You’re the one taking him with you now.“Stop!” You command to Mace and the others as you quickly move to close the gap.Gardevoir looks around. The hostility and fear in the air are hitting her now for the first time. You don’t need her sense to recognize what’s written on her face. She looks behind herself to see if perhaps everyone is reacting to some danger behind her. What happened? Did someone get hurt? She’s so confused that she doesn’t understand right away that she is the danger. You place a hand on her chest, close your eyes, and take a deep breath. Her aura is a swirling mess, and the further you reach in to try to sort out all the stray rivers of emotion, the worse it gets. The river of fear spills over into the other waterways and blows you right out.Gardevoir’s eyes meet yours once again. She doesn’t know what’s happening but she looks so worried.Gardevoir is quick. She starts to use a move. One you haven’t seen before. Your heart skips and your body explodes with energy as it realizes your mind is much too slow and stupid to be trusted with command, having gotten you into this situation. Adrenaline bursts through you.But her move doesn’t hit you. It flies up into the air. It’s aimed to Mace!Mace, though, is unleashing an attack of his own. Gardevoir is blown off of her feet and into the sand. He keeps the pressure on, sending her and a wave of sand hurtling backwards. Her limp body flops and gets partially buried, but Mace keeps sending as much as he can at her until he begins to stutter and lose his ability to stay in the air. Her attack lands and does literally nothing to stop or slow him down. If anything, he seems even stronger after it lands on him. He hits the ground with a soft thump, pauses only for a moment, then rushes over to her. He holds back, but keeps ready.Gardevoir though, isn’t moving.“I think she’s knocked out.” You tell Mace.He growls at her in warning when you approached to check. You didn’t know he could make that noise. Or that he could shake like he is right now. Gobble runs ahead of you and pulls her out. You suspect part of that was motivated on stopping you from doing it instead of concern for her. She’s out, but she’s breathing. By everything you know about pokemon, it seems like she just fainted.(continued)
>>2383426Gobble has done a great job so far, I agree. Missed the falling overboard part myself but since there wasn't a >(warning this is dangerous) tag on the impromptu aura massage, I'm more curious than worried. We didn't crit-fail anyway.
>>2383430Yeah we had great luck back then, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't see everything going well and think "wow I hope shit fucks up so that I can get my dick hard"shit's irreverent, I'm just expressing my opinion same as you.
>>2383431Your first instinct is to try to heal her with your aura powers, but the confidence you once had in your aura abilities has suffered a lot of blows recently. With so many recent difficulties, you’re losing faith in it. You’re really hesitating here. Part of it is because you worry about burning yourself out on using too much healing too freely. The other, larger reason though, is that you’re worried you have no idea what you’re doing and will make the situation worse. You hold the shard Jeanine got you in one hand and feel guilty and unworthy to have it.Your pokemon look to you for what happens next. You don’t know why. They acted a lot more competently than you did. What do you do, though? Will she be okay when she’s conscious? Can you handle this with your own judgement? There’s still a short time between now and when you’re all meeting up.And what about Mace? He's still shaking. Does he just need a few minutes to calm down? What did she hit him with? It happened so fast. You regret all the time you didn't spend studying.>Carry her to the pokemon center>Capture her in a ball, then take her to the pokemon center>Call the others to say you’ll be late, and let her recover here naturally>Drop everything and try to figure out what move she used on Mace. Here's a sad thought:What if Gardevoir used Helping Hand on Mace so he'd knock her out since she knew she was endangering her friends?
I'm just hoping the 55 was to heal and not for a confidence check, Herb's healing's been progressing pretty great as of late and while it wouldn't be a full heal I still feel that the roll would result in her coming back from being fainted.
>>2383480If it was a focused Sandstorm\Gravity combo, that's potentially the basis for something pretty cool.

You step forward, crystal in one hand, sweat in both of them. You know it’s probably a useless gesture, but you’ve got to try anyway. But first, you turn your attention to Mace. “Are you okay?”He doesn’t respond.“Mace? Mace!”He snaps out of it. You’ve seen him worked up in a fight, but never like this. He tends to fall into a zone or get really focused. And when he’s upset with himself he typically keeps it pretty hidden and acts reserved. He can’t seem to stop shaking now. You look him over and don’t find a single injury. She must have used a very weak move or maybe didn’t get it off entirely, because he’s physically perfectly fine. He’s calming down a bit now, but is clearly still shaken up.“Thanks.” You tell him. You stand up and repeat it to everyone else, too. “Thanks.”Mace becomes a bit more responsive. You feel like there’s a strange energy coming off of it, but it’s fading. It could just be tension, or just your imagination. Not like you actually know what you’re doing. You move over to Gardevoir. She looks so peaceful. You inhale, hold the crystal close and-WAIT! What the flaky crust are you doing? Before you even try it, you really need to call someone. You take out your pokedex and call Laki.“Soft Hands! I hope you’re almost ready. I wanted to talk to you guys before meeting my parents.”“About that.” You begin. You give her a very quick overview of what happened, where you are, and that you’ll be late.“No you won’t.” Laki says. “I’m on my way. I’ll carry you if I have to.”“You really want him to meet your parents.” Hana’s voice can barely be heard in the background.“I really don’t.” Laki confesses. “But we’re getting him safe, inside and fed.”“Thanks guys. But really. I just wanted to give you an update and let you know I’ll be a little late. Give your best to them and let them know I’ll bring something to make up for it. Sorry, too. But don’t worry about me. I’ll-” The pokedex cuts the call. “Be fine.” You sigh. You lean down and touch Gardevoir again. Focusing, you look deep inside and let your healing energy flow to her wounds. You must be somehow getting worse at this. You don’t feel that much in terms of injuries. She’s drained and out of energy, and she has a few small bangs, but what little you can sense seems like it shouldn’t have been enough to drop her out of the fight.(continued)
>>2383512Ah, did she use memento?
>>2383512She comes too. She’s not in tip top fighting shape, but she is awake and she could fight to some degree safely if she needed or wanted to. Sorbet puffs and becomes a hazy icy blur in preparation, but you can tell instantly that Gardevoir has no ill intent towards you. She actually looks relieved. “Is everyone alright?”“Yeah.” That’s a good question for her to ask and a good sign. She lets herself fall back into a more tired state after hearing that. “Did it help?”You’re confused. “Did what help?”“My Healing Wish.” She clarifies.Gobble, Bella, and Sorbet all trade looks, but settle their gaze on Mace. He remains unmoving, facing the ocean.“He was just as fierce and brave as my mother informed me.” She looks excited, despite her monotone voice. “I remembered! I remembered her story and face.” She grasps at the air, as if the memory is slipping away. You remember her mentioning before that she and Mace might share some sort of history. Or rather, Mace and her mother or grandmother or some other, even more distant relative. You sometimes forget how old Mace is. That he's had a very long life before you came around.Mace offers no reaction. And Gardevoir doesn’t seem to realize or remember that she was the danger.“Did I help?” She asks again. "He shined like the sun." Her eyes dart back and forth. She’s losing that memory again.>Yeah. You helped Mace stop the scary pokemon. Good job, Gardevoir.>No! And we’re going to have a serious sit down to figure out what to do with you >Explain without any possibility of misunderstanding that everyone was worried about her attacking you, and how they acted. Give her straight facts, even if she sometimes has problems with those>Distract her with another subject. Let tonight’s incident fade away for her forever.>Something else
>>2383517>Yeah. You helped Mace stop the scary pokemon. Good job, GardevoirToo cruel, gobble. Why couldn't we lose an eye instead?
>>2383517>>Distract her with another subject. Let tonight’s incident fade away for her forever.I would prefer Herb didn't lie.
>>2383517>Arm around her shoulder>Explain without any possibility of misunderstanding that everyone was worried about her attacking you, and how they acted. Give her straight facts, even if she sometimes has problems with thoseGardevoir doesn’t just have a loss of her past. She deserves to get to remember. We need to be honest if we’re going to be able to help her. We should really take her in for a check-up.
>>2383517>>2383518Changing to >>2383524
>>2383517changing vote from>>2383520to>>2383524You make a good point.
>>2383517>>2383524This. Just... why you gotta make me feel, Gobble?
>>2383524Supporting this.Herb's self-confidence issues aside, I feel like the real tragedy here is how messed up Gardevoir's mind is.
Had I known I’d be getting (you)s I would have done more to communicate the tone I was going for. That we’re happy for her remembering some of her past, that we don’t blame her for starting a fight, that some of what she said scared us because it sounds like she’s lonely and confused a lot. That we’d like to try to help her remember and understand more things.
Man, just what is up with Mace and all this shining/strange energy stuff? Is it just the wish, or something more?
>>2383542>>2383546Maybe he's turning to crystal like that one Onix? Also, hope Gobble sees this, but that's the general gist of what you were suggesting in the first place.
Well, I’ve probably stayed up a bit too late as it is. Goodnight, Gobble.>>2383549I wonder what Mace’s thoughts are on mega-evolution? Or Pokémon manga style temporary evolution? Or for that matter, form changes like with Cherrim?
jesus Gobble how much coffee did you have?! Should somebody call a doctor? That said I'm staying up as long as Gobble chooses to run.
You put an arm around her shoulder. “You deserve the truth.”You explain, in as great detail as you can, exactly what happened. And the moment she understands it was her that elicited all those hostile emotions from everyone else hear, she cries. She absolutely bawls. She insists she had no intention of hurting anyone and that when she was shouting in your head she was just confused. She never wanted you to feel threatened. And you hold her through all of it, feeling like a monster as you describe it over her sobs. But despite how hard it is to see her so sad, there’s something beautiful about it too. You can’t describe it.“I don’t know trust because nobody trusts me.” She says, a pained anguish in her. She’s not bitter or angry in any way. She almost seems to find a strange joy as she works it all out. “And that makes me feel terrible. But it’s my feeling. MIne. Not a shadow.” She holds up a tear for you to see as proof. “I won’t forget it. I won’t.”Dice is the first to come by and offer her a soft bite. She gasps in surprise and holds him in a gentle hug in return. Gobble awkwardly tries to pat her on the back, while Belladonna very openly hops right in Gardevoir’s lap and partially on Dice’s face, and gives a big ol’ expressive hug. Even Sorbet, while not being as open as them, lies down against her.Mace, for all his experience, age, and wisdom, can’t bring himself to join the group. He sits down just out of touching range, torn to shreds.“I’m glad you didn’t evolve.” She says to him. “I felt your temptation, but you’re stronger this way.”After some time, he works up whatever he needs to work up to come over and face her, but by then, she seems to already be forgetting what happened. He just slowly settles into the sand, looking like he wouldn’t mind if he just kept sinking forever. You hold her, him, and the other pokemon, and sit on the beach in silence thinking about how there’s no power you possess that could ever heal this. And that sense of helplessness covers you like the evening darkness that settles in.“HERB!”“SOFT HANDS!”You look up. A few flashlights come shining through the darkness searching for you under the starry night. They’re coming to make you safe, sheltered, and fed, and you think you’d like that a lot.[That's it for tonight. Sorry we didn't make it to Laki's parents. I'm not exactly sure when the next thread is but Saturday is the safest bet. I'll work on organizing and writing bins, answering questions, and generally taking care of a lot of neglected stuff this week. I want to really get it all organized and ready to hit the ground running.]
I'm sad and she deserves hugs
>>2383553honestly I'm having trouble figuring out what Herb is so troubled about, other anons seemed to get it but I didn't really get what was supposed to be so sad here. Yeah Gardevoir had another breakdown, but it's not her first; and there were some emotions at play but they normally go along with that kind breakdown. It's no reason for Herb to have such a massive lose of self confidence, though the recent run of bad luck possibly is; though if he is so unlucky he should be used to it by now. Maybe I am just too tired to get it.Thanks for running Gobble.
>>2383553Christ you hit me with both barrels here. I need to call my grandma in the morning. Good night! Good thread!
>>2383553Ow.I get the feeling whoever's responsible for Gardevoir's emotional dissonance and memory state has legitimate reason to fear being beaten to death with a frying pan.How is Herb handling the recent run of luck? His self-confidence seems to be on shaky ground right now.
>>2383555Well, on Gardevoir:I had sort of thought that she was in a better condition than she really is. I expected that once she had spent some time outside the psychic echo chamber of Solrock she’d improve more than she has. Furthermore, we’ve just found out that not only can she not remember her past, she’s also losing new memories as she forms them. Short-term memory loss on top of her amnesia.Plus, if Gardevoir’s father is a Cofagrigus or a Yamask, Mace could be her grandfather. Even if he isn’t, he feels guilty and we can’t undo that. We can help, but we can’t just undo it.
>>2383555Mace sorta just layed down the smackdown on the descendant of probably the greatest love of his long life. Imagine hurting someone you love out of fear or anger and you'll get into the right head-space for why this scene is so sad.Herb is just coming to the realization that he can't solve everyone's problems that sometimes that problems are too big with one person to deal with and that is a good lesson. No person is an island and I hope we take this as an opportunity to lean on the people who support us and pokemon that support us. We ultimately need to took taking such crazy selfless or self sacrificing actions because there will be a time where that will harm us and the person we are trying to help. That's what I got out of it anyways.
>>2383828Ya I was also under the impression that she was getting better. Which in reality she is, but its sinking in that she has Poke-alzheimer's syndrome. That shits just sad feelings no mater what.
Poor Mace. I'd feel bad too if I attacked a mentally ill person who was just trying to help me.
>>2385828Come to think of it, it's too bad his potential unlocking didn't give him a heads-up what move she was using. Plus, he could be her grandfather, if he's more than just a friend of her family.
Come to think of it, all this getting knocked unconscious can’t be great for Herb’s health.
>>2388719[I was thinking the same thing. I imaged here he wasn't really out. She just sort of physically shouted at him enough to disorient, and spooked everyone else.]
Well, at least we now know that the information is still in there. It's just accessing and retaining it that's the problem, which is a lot, but unlike creating information ex nihilo it's still possible.
